We used VG for our recent wedding and couldn’t have been happier. My family has been going to VG Donut for years during our annual Cardiff-by-the-Sea trips, so I was ecstatic when I found out they also did wedding cakes. We ordered a small 2 tier cake (fresh strawberry+white cake) and a ¼ sheet cake with banana and cream cheese. We also ordered 9 dozen donut bites. The desserts were a HIT! My grandpa is still talking about the doissant donut bites, and there were only a handful of everything left at the end of the night. We did tastings at different bakeries in the San Diego area, but VG won hands down for their pricing, consistency, professionalism, and most of all – taste!

Best wedding desserts
We ordered our wedding cake plus donut and brownie bites from VG's, it was all really delicious! They also made sure delivery to our venue at the San Diego Safari Park was flawless, which was not an easy feat. Their pricing was also very reasonable. We got lots of compliments on the cake, and they allowed us to get a different flavor for each layer. We got chocolate cake with raspberry jam, marble cake with strawberry preserves, and banana cake with fresh banana. The sample cakes were also huge and only $5 for each cake (back in 2021 at least). The donut bites were also really good (especially the glazed buttermilk). They were easy to communicate with throughout the entire wedding process, and were very understanding when we had delays with our wedding when I went through a serious illness. I would definitely recommend them for cake/donuts!

We loved our Dessert Table!!!
We are so glad we went with VG Donuts for our wedding desserts! My now-husband and I really wanted to do a dessert bar along with a smaller traditional sized cake and VG made our dreams come true. They worked with me to figure out how many desserts I should get given our guest list and also helped me stay within our budget. Best Desserts!
Aside from our unique cake, carrot cake with dulcet de luche filing, VG Bakery also provided other desserts that everyone loved! I was sad that I didn’t get to taste the pumpkin cheesecake blondies but luckily had taken home leftovers; even 2 days later the desserts were very moist and delicious! Thank you VG Bakery!

Delicious!! (August 2022 San Diego Wedding)
We chose VG’s to provide the desserts and cake for our August 2022 wedding and everything was delicious! Sara from VG’s set up a tasting for us to try different cake flavors and dessert options (doughnuts, cookies, brownies, cake pops etc) and following the tasting guided us through how many desserts we should order for our guest count. We ended up selecting an array of devil's food doughnuts, brownies, chocolate chip cookies, mini-eclairs, and doughnut holes along with a small two-tiered white cake with fresh strawberry filling and buttercream frosting. She also made sure to coordinate with our planner to deliver the desserts to our venue on time and without any issues. After the wedding, several of our guests commented on how delicious the cake was and how they loved each of the desserts they tried. My partner and I didn’t get to eat enough of the cake so we decided that our anniversary tradition will be to visit VGs every year to order a cake for us to share! I grew up visiting VGs on the weekends for doughnuts and it was very special to have them be a part of our wedding.

We were so happy we chose VG Donut & Bakery for our wedding day! It was an amazing experience from the beginning of our initial conversation with Sara to the cake tasting and day of wedding! VG was the dessert for my wedding. The donuts were as delicious as they were beautiful. I appreciate that they provided a gluten-free cookie option for some of our guests. VG Bakery was amazing- our guests loved our desserts!
After 2 postponements (read 3 wedding dates) due to covid, we finally had our wedding on 4/16/22. We had many dessert tasting and we ultimately went with VG bakery due to taste and quality! Throughout our postponements VG bakery was very professional, flexible, and communicative which made a stressful situation of postponing our wedding less stressful. We hade cakes, cookies, brownies, and donut bites and they were a hit! Our guests, as well as ourselves, loved them! It was such a hit that we actually did not get to have any of the cookies/brownies/donuts because they ran out so quickly. The staff was responsive and easy to work with. The cakes/desserts are also very reasonably priced for how delicious they were. Thanks VG bakery!

VG Bakery is the best!
VG catered our wedding at the end of March and it was seriously amazing! We ordered a two-tier Chocolate Cake with Mocha Filling and a variety of donuts and they were all absolute perfection! All of our guests were in heaven and came up to me to ask where I got them from because they already wanted more! Even people who don't like cake inhaled theirs. Truly the BEST donuts!! We had our wedding cake and donut bar for our wedding from VGs and could not have loved it more. Our guests would not stop raving about the donuts and donut holes!! The VG team was amazing to work with and plan our cake/dessert bar with. They did our smaller cake for our wedding during COVID and then made our larger one for our delayed celebration. If you need a donut on a random week or need hundreds of donuts like we did, I could not recommend them more. Their donut holes are HUGE and our guests got to enjoy a ton and then take some home with them for later. Truly my husband and I’s favorite donuts!!

I cannot recommend VG's enough for your wedding day. The communication beforehand is clear and concise. The desserts are INCREDIBLE. One of my favorite bakeries in southern California, and we were so happy to be able to have them for our wedding in La Jolla.

First of all these are the best doughnuts there are. Like many people, we were supposed to get married in 2020 but had to postpone. VG was flexible and made it easy to reschedule. The best desserts!!
One of our favorite parts of the wedding was our cake and dessert table!! We loved working with VG donuts— not only do their desserts taste amazing but their service is excellent! From the beginning with the cake tasting, we were able to do it at home and it was so fun!! We got a couple flavors and each flavor was so unique and yummy! We loved the banana, chocolate peanut butter and strawberry flavors!! We were able to customize a 3-tier cake perfectly the way we wanted with a tier specially decorated with little Mickeys on it! And the donuts were such a hit!! All our guests were raving about them and we were so happy we went with vg! We would definitely recommend them and can’t wait to use them for future events! 😍

Amazing and delicious
VG donut was at the top of our list for wedding cake vendors when my husband and I were planning our wedding. We were in a time crunch to get a tasting in before my Husband deployed and the staff at VG made coordinating the tasting very easy. We were able to pick up the cake from the location and taste at home. Both flavors we tasted were so amazing we couldn't decide so we went with both for our wedding cake!
The cake itself is one of the most delicious cakes I think I have ever had. My husband is not a huge cake and frosting enthusiast but he LOVED the marble cake with oreo filling, leading up to the wedding he kept mentioning how he could not wait to have it again. Our guests raved the whole weekend about just how delicious the cake was!
I was impressed with how beautiful the cake came out. I wanted simple and elegant to match out wedding decor and the design really delivered and met all my expectations. VG made it super easy to choose designs and were so helpful in coming up with the perfect design and size to meet our needs.
I cannot recommend VG enough if you love dessert as much as I do run don't walk to VG to start planning for your wedding day.

VG's was the best! As a gluten-free bride, and a groom with a sweet tooth, hiring them was a no-brainer. I didn't want to miss on my wedding desserts, and everything needed to be delicious. We decided to go for a cutting cake and dessert bar, and VG's had several gluten free options (cupcakes, cookies), that we could have in addition to our regular cookies, cupcakes, brownies, and donuts! Not a dessert was left at the end of the night, and we received so many compliments. Highly recommend them for any event. They are great to work with, affordable, have lots of amazingly tasty options, and they even deliver! If you aren't planning a wedding, still go and enjoy all they have to offer.

VG Donuts did a fantastic job with the desserts for our wedding reception this past May 2019. We went with a selection of donuts, cupcake bites and a small-sized cake just for cutting. The process of tasting and selecting our items was easy and the VG Donuts staff was great about answering our questions and helping us figure out the right quantity to get of our selections. And on the day of, the desserts were simply incredible. Their donuts are honestly some of the best I’ve ever tried, and for me at least one of the culinary highlights of our wedding. The team at VGs was great to work with! We did all of our communication via email and they were friendly and responsive to all of our emails. My husband and I didn’t want a cake for our wedding but loved the idea of having a dessert bar and were pleased with the variety that VGs offered (including their gluten-free options!) OMG VG Donut is OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! All my guests raved about the donuts and cake for our wedding. Janette was so helpful through the entire process. We are huge baseball fans and wanted a baseball on the top tier so Janette came up with a great idea on how to get that look without weighing the top tier down which we were so happy about. She collaborated with the bakers to make it happen and it turned out exactly how we imagined. We opted to get the bigger size cake and we are so glad we did because all of our guests went back for second piece of cake and by the end of the night there was only a few slices left. The donuts are phenomenal!! Although we did not do a donut bar we had 3 of our favorite donuts and our guests could not get enough of how delicious and fresh they were. We couldn’t have been more happy with choosing VG.

Been going to VGs since I was ONE years old!

We used VG Donuts for our dessert table at our wedding and for our cake! It was so amazing and very professional. The tasting was fun and we got to take home 2 whole cakes (so fun!) Pumpkin Cupcakes and Piped Succulents
As soon as we got engaged, the decision to have cupcakes from VGs as our dessert was an unspoken, mutual decision made by both my fiance and myself (hopefully a good omen for a lifetime of mutual decisions to come). We reached out to Janette at VGs, and within about a week of signing the contract with our venue, we had our cutting cake and cupcakes decided upon too. Janette set up a tasting for us including a small version of our cutting cake and all of their cupcake flavors (except for Pumpkin which is only available seasonally). We loved everything we tasted, so the hardest part about the whole process was deciding on the breakdown of the different flavors that we wanted.
About a month before our wedding, Janette got back in touch with us to finalize our numbers, and set up a tasting of the Pumpkin cupcakes that were now available. Once we tasted our Pumpkin Cupcake, which was THE. BEST. CUPCAKE. either of us had ever tasted, we changed the majority of our cupcake breakdown to them! Janette also worked with me to get an idea of what we wanted on our cutting cake (simple, piped succulents) and helped include some of those designs on a few of our cupcakes, which made our cupcake display look wonderful.
The day of our wedding, everything was delivered on time and in one piece, and nearly all of the cupcakes were devoured by our guests (and we bought extras). VGs was the perfect addition to our wedding day! It is a known and celebrated staple in the Cardiff/Encinitas community, and will definitely be a place we frequent for a Pumpkin Cupcake as we celebrate our anniversaries and family milestones.

We got donuts instead of wedding cake for our wedding. Perfect Choice, and VG didn't disappoint. I definitely over ordered, so venue staff got a nice little surprise. haha!! Donuts, Cookies and Cream Puffs...oh so good.

Great Dessert Bar!
VG Donut catered our dessert bar and we couldn't have been happier! We had donut bites, cake pops, brownie bites and a selection of cookies and everything was to die for. Our guests raved about the desserts and many took some home with them at the end of the night.
We also got our wedding cake done by VGs and it was exactly what we were looking for. We sent over a pictures of different cakes that we liked and that matched it EXACTLY. We couldn't have asked for a better desset station!

VG Donuts catered the donuts for our wedding (9/14/18) and we could not have been happier! From the beginning, VG donuts was AWESOME in helping us plan. They provided plenty of suggestions and answered our 5,000 questions that we had. We hired vg donut to make our two tier naked cake and donuts for a donut bar at our wedding. The cake was absolutely delicious and the donuts tasted amazing. They were very responsive and on top of it the entire time. Thanks VG!

VG did an amazing job with our cakes! Their prices can't be matched, and you definitely don't sacrifice taste! We had a 3 tier wedding cake, as well as a small 2 tier chocolate grooms cake with peanut butter buttercream and chocolate ganache drip with peanut butter cups on top (my husband's favorite)! It looked and tasted great! As a busy bride, I only wish I would've gotten to eat more at the wedding!

VGs Donuts has been a fixture for my family for years and deciding to use them for the donut bar and wedding cake was easy. The tasting process is unique in that we were able to bring sample cakes home and we had the guests at our our engagement party.vote for the flavors of the wedding cake. Janette was very responsive and everything tasted amazing. The edible flowers on the cake were a great touch that made it that made it that much more special. Thank you VGs!!

My cake inspiration image from pinterest actually turned out to be a cake from VG! Cake was delicious!!!!! The way they do tastings is that they give you a whole cake with your selected flavor / filling. You can also select different flavors/fillings for each layer of the cake. Janette is a pleasure to work with as well!

VG's is honestly SO good! We had donuts as our main wedding dessert but also wanted a cake so we could have the cake cutting part too and VG's made all of that so simple and easy! Working with Janette was easy and fun, she is so on top of things and easy to work with and their prices cannot be beat. Not only that, the donuts and cake were INCREDIBLE and people haven't stopped telling me how great they were. My only regret is that i didn't have time to eat more donuts at the wedding!

I highly recommend VG Donuts & Bakery for wedding cake services. VG was offered as part of the package at The Crossings, our wedding venue, and while we were able to change if we wanted I'm so glad we used them! Janette, the bakery coordinator, is extremely helpful and easy to work with. You are allowed to try 3 different cakes, and not just tasting bites, you actually take home 3 small (6in round) full-on cakes to try at home. Additional cakes to taste are only $5! There are so many flavor choices between cake flavors and filling flavors it is so hard to choose! She also has a book filled of example cakes so you can choose what type of frosting look you might want. I also loved that I was able to get a small two-tiered cake so I could do the traditional cake-cutting, and then supplement with cupcakes, donut bites, and brownie/blondie bars (I did not want to serve traditional cake slices to guests). There were even gluten-free options, and seasonal pumpkin flavored cupcakes and blondies perfect for my October wedding. Each dessert was seriously a flavor explosion in your mouth! I will be using VG for future events again for sure!

VG Donut & Bakery provided our wedding cake and entire dessert bar (donuts, bars, cupcakes) and people are still talking about how delicious everything was! We actually upped our order from the recommended amount for our headcount and STILL went home without any leftovers! The venue staff had to stash some desserts in our room just to make sure we got some!
Janette was extremely helpful from the start, always responsive to our emails. My husband and I both grew up eating VG donuts so it was extra special to have them at our wedding.
The delivery fee all the way to Temecula was very reasonable and everything arrived in perfect condition.
And two extra perks of using VG's - at the tasting, they literally give you cakes to take home and share with friends and family, which is amazing, AND you don't have to worry about saving the top tier of your cake because they'll give you a free cake on your anniversary! No freezer burn cake!

My husband & I ordered our wedding cake & "donut bar" items from VGs for our wedding this past June. Everything was delicious, and working with Janette for the tasting & the order was easy & smooth! We had a small two-tier cutting cake and sheet cake for guests, in two flavors: chocolate cake with chocolate Bavarian cream and white cake with Bavarian cream with fresh strawberries. For our donut bar, we had cake & raised donuts in a 4 flavors, donut bites, doissant bites and cookies. Janette predicted the donut & doissant bites would be the most popular, and she was right - we should have ordered more of them! We did taste with two other bakeries, and one had slightly tastier cakes, but we chose VGs since they were about as good, but for a much less price, and had friendlier service to boot. We highly recommend VGs!

From start to finish, our wedding cake process was so easy and (BY FAR) the most affordable that we found. Janette was always very quick to respond to any questions or concerns. Our "tasting" was also pretty amazing because we were given 7 inch rounds of two cake flavors to TAKE HOME!!! (Any others were just a mere $5 per cake). My husband had never been given so much free cake!!
The day of the wedding went off without a hitch. I never even saw VG Donuts, the cake just magically appeared (on time) out of thin air and it was as beautiful as I had dreamed. Each layer was a different flavor so our guests could have their choice of cake. Our personal favorite? Chocolate cake with Bavarian cream.... Mmmmm. Can't wait to go back for our one year anniversary and get it again.

VG's is the best of both worlds: a mom and pop shop with wonderful staff and customer service AND the best baked good options around! VGs was included in our package deal at the Crossings at Carlsbad for our wedding day, and we couldn't be luckier! All of the desserts are delicious, and the staff are very accommodating. Instead of getting a slice of cake to taste like most bakeries do, they send you home with 2 full 7" cakes to try with all your friends! Want more? It's just $10 a cake after that. They also provide a free mini cake for your anniversary, so you don't have to save and freeze the top layer. Janine was our point of contact and she was a joy to work with. She answered all questions quickly and made sure we got the best bang for our buck within our allotted budget. the desserts were so good the whole bar was empty before we even cut the cake! I will definitely remember and use VGs for future dessert needs, and have already recommended to friends and family!

We searched far and wide for a vendor that could create the wedding cake of our dreams. Of the many bakeries, pâtisseries, dessert shops, and private bakers that we sampled, VG was by far the most professional, had the most options, the most customizations, and the best customer service.
From the telephonic conversations, to the meeting and even the sample cakes, the process was so easy and actually fun unlike a lot of the other wedding planning details. On top of all that, VG was slice-for-slice the cheapest place we found! AND even more, they offer a complimentary anniversary cake for your 1-year! So yes, you can actually serve that top tier at your wedding and NOT have to pay for an extra 1/2 sheet cake!! No other bakery offered that.
So in summation, VG is absolutely the way to go for a wedding cake and we could not be happier or more impressed by our one-of-a-kind wedding cake!!

VG was my favorite wedding vendor. We ordered a two-tier wedding cake and an assortment of donuts and other sweets for our wedding. My only regret is that we did not order more donuts--they were a total hit at the wedding! The wedding cake was gorgeous and delicious (they don't use fondant, which is a huge plus in my book). On top of that, everything was very reasonable price-wise. I would highly recommend VG.

Best dessert bar we could have ever imagine for our wedding! Janette at VG's was so wonderful to work with. Our guests said such wonderful things about all of our desserts. I highly recommend them for any special events!

VG donut and bakery was great. I love that they give you full 8" cakes for the tasting, instead of little pieces of cake. Janette was very easy to work with, friendly, quick to respond and the cake turned out to be really beautiful.

WOW! BEST WEDDING CAKE I'VE EVER HAD!!!!
EXTREMELY affordable! We had a 6 x 9 x 12 plus an additional three 1/2 sheet cakes. With a simple yet, absolutely beautiful and classic design we spent $464 for 200 people!!! The price included delivery, pillars, and deposit. And we had a ton of cake left over! We went with the chocolate with chocolate bavarian, white with bavarian and fresh strawberries, and banana cake with dulce de leche and fresh bananas. SOOOOO GOOOOD! The best part is, for our 1 year anniversary we don't have to eat an icky frozen cake. We get to go back in and get a FRESH and FREE cake!

VG is awesome! We chose them to make our donuts for our wedding donut cake. The donuts were amazing, and the customer service was excellent! They even matched the frosting to our color swatches for the wedding colors.

All I can say is wow! Our wedding cake was gorgeous and it was really good! I still have guests tell me how much they loved our cake. The people at VG's are so nice and easy to work with and you really can't beat their prices...we tried a few other popular cake places in San Diego that came highly recommended...and that were also triple the cost.... and in my opinion no one stood out taste wise like VG's did. It was definitely a win-win situation with them.
One other thing I loved was that when you do a tasting with them, they actually send you home with at two decent sized cakes (more than enough to share) in the flavors of your choice--for FREE. I almost fell over when they told me that. Every other bakery we visited charged at least $20 for a few bites of cake and a few small containers of filling, etc. on the side. With VG's, because they gave us so much cake, we got to include our parents in the tasting process. It was fun! :) Our overall experience with them gets an A+++

VG's is my favorite spot to get donuts! So when I was choosing my wedding cake vendor I decided to look into VG's. My cake table was amazing, I had 3 cakes, donuts, and cookies. VG's delivered everything and it was all beautiful and delicious. At the appointment I brought in pictures of what I wanted my cake to look like and was able to try all the flavors. Everyone loved my cake and the donuts were a hit.

You will not find a more affordable wedding cake! Period!
Not only is it the most inexpensive cake you will find, but you get whole small cakes of your flavor choice to take home for tasting, and they give you a cake for your one year anniversary so there is no need to save the top tier in your freezer to eat a year later! (People really do that? Gross! Ha)
VGs was easy to work with! I had no issues at all. They made a more beautiful and delicious cake than I could have ever asked for, plus the donut bar was a hit!!! Thank you Jess and VGs! See you again soon for some yummy goodies!

Our cake and desserts from VG’s were amazing! We worked with Jess and she did an amazing job. She listened to our ideas and created a cake that was beautiful and tasted even better! I even had a surprise grooms’ cake made for my husband, and Jess replicated perfectly pictures I had sent her and was so sweet to help me keep it a secret. Moreover, VG’s has other amazing desserts (especially their doughnuts!) if you want to do a dessert bar. Lastly, they’re prices are definitely affordable. I’m not one to spend thousands of dollars on a wedding cake so VG’s is great because we got a picture-perfect cake without going over budget. VG’s is an amazing bakery and we recommend them for any wedding or event.

I've gone to VGs to get donuts since I was a little kid and I've been fortunate enough to have had some of their cakes before too, so when it came time to get my wedding cake, I knew it had to be VGs. I didn't even look anywhere else.
We scheduled an appointment and since I was long distance ( I live in the Bay Area but got married in Carlsbad) I was able to email in some forms they needed. There was one scheduling snaffoo with a new, young employee regarding my consultation when I picked up the 3 free sample cakes, but it all ended up working out fine. And yes, I said it, 3 free cakes that have about 10 slices per cake! I'm glad I was visiting family to share the joy of tasting the cakes.
When it came time to order and place the design of the cake I met with Jess who is super nice and picked out a nice simple design. I asked to add succulents but she let me know they can only add edible decorations, but it wasn't a big deal. When they delivered it I actually was waiting before the ceremony and popped some succulents on it myself! It was perfect!
Best part is, the cake was so good it was completely demolished! Exactly what I wanted, guests to actually like the wedding cake and eat it all!!!! I had white cake with fresh strawberry filling-- THE BEST-- and chocolate cake with Oreo filling-- fantastic also!!! Everyone said it was good! I can't wait for my one year anniversary to get a free cake instead of freezing the top layer

Hands down best cake I've ever had. Went in to try samples of the flavors, was given an entire cake of each flavor and since we couldn't decide on just one, instead decided to do 5 different flavors of cupcakes in addition to our cake. Jessica was super easy to work with and very flexible (even when we ran a day late getting her our final payment because things got so hectic right before the wedding, she was super understanding). Not only did the cake and cupcakes look and taste amazing, they were affordable!!! We found that many places (venues/florists/etc) would tell us one price, but the second they found out it was for our wedding, the price would somehow then be much higher for the same exact product/services....VG's gave us one price, and it was terrific. We will definitely recommend them to all of our friends, and will be loyal customers for life!

I worked with Jess for our wedding cake. We had 3 different cakes and they all tasted absolutely delicious! All our guest were raving about how wonderful it was to have had the opportunity to enjoy all 3 flavors. Throughout the planning and tasting process, Jess responded to emails promptly and I really appreciated that and she was great to work with. YUM! VG's Donuts was the best decisions I could've made for my wedding cakes. We did 3 cakes that were each styled differently. Not only is VGs the most affordable wedding cake you will find in north county, but it is one of the most delicious as well. My guests were OBSESSED with the carrot cake! Our wedding cake came with our package deal through The Crossings at Carlsbad. The cake was very delicious. We did a tier of carrot (our favorite), another tier of chocolate with fresh strawberries and bavarian cream, and the top layer was red velvet. I'm not usually a cake person but VGs is delicious. I worked with Jess to get my order in and she was great to work with. Instead of saving your top layer of cake, VGs will send you a new one on your one year anniversary. Pretty great deal if you ask me!

She returns email more easily early in the morning. The cake arrived at our Temecula wedding on time and was super yummy. Great vibe from VG Bakery, from the initial meeting, to the sample cakes (which are huge, by the way), to the big day with the official wedding cake. They were just so easy to work with, the prices were absolutely reasonable, and the end product was gorgeous.
Guests at the wedding couldn't stop commenting on how cool/pretty/beautiful/creative the cake was. Overall, our experience with VG Bakery was excellent!! We would definitely recommend VG to anyone looking for a cool, and even cost-efficient cake!! Next time we're in the area we'll be visiting VG for some more yummy pastries!

Our cake was so incredibly perfect and was more than we could have asked for! The best thing about VG is price - VERY affordable! Especially for budget conscious brides like myself! You would spend a small fortune at any other bakery compared to VG and it wouldn't taste anywhere near as good as their cakes taste! My only regret - that we didn't do a dessert bar full of their awesome donuts and yummy cookies! If you book your wedding cake with VG's trust me, you won't be disappointed!!!

Everyone at VG's was so great to work with. They only use buttercream frosting (no fondant) which was important to me. Not only did the cake taste amazing but it turned out beautifully. Jessica and the owner are amazing to work with. Make sure you have plenty of people over the day you go cake tasting because they literally give you 2 8 inch sample cakes with additional ones for just a few dollars. They are also very affordable! Our guests loved our cake. The chocolate with chocolate Bavarian cream and oreos is to die for! We also ordered donuts from them which are delicious! I believe they have the best donuts in San Diego county.
