You get a Custom, and you get a Custom!

I don't know that Wedding Wire will give me enough words for me to say all the great things about the team at Vanya Designs.

I came to Alicia with a very specific vision in mind for my wedding dress. I wanted celestial inspired, I wanted color, and I wanted to throw a nod in for my husband and I's love for Dungeons and Dragons. Alicia took a chop shop of very off the wall ideas and made the most stunning dress. Even in the earliest stages when it was just a slip with fabric layered over to figure out what we wanted I nearly cried because her vision was exactly what I dreamed of.
Vanya's also custom made my husband's suit, and he's so in love he'll be back anytime he needs a suit because they took such good care of him.

Magical Transformation

Alicia at Vanya’s Designs took my vision for renovating my mothers wedding dress and made it a reality. The full-on 80’s A-line (complete with poofy sleeves) became an elegant illusion-sleeve mermaid gown that looked like it could’ve been fresh a designers newest line. Amazing service at incredibly reasonable prices.

Vanya altered and customized my David’s Bridal wedding gown so that it really felt like my own. Had I known how reasonable having them custom make a dress would be, I honestly would have done just that. Everything was super affordable, and I even had a custom dusty blue robe made for my getting ready photos. I cannot recommend the ladies at Vanya enough. You will not regret working with them.

For getting bra cups added to my gown, having a slit added to the dress, having extra bustling added, and a couple other minor things, I paid less than it cost me to have a bridesmaid dress altered at David’s Bridal for a friends wedding.

Saved our Wedding Day

I went to Alicia at Vanya Designs two weeks before my wedding with a dress that was completely ruined. In less than 48 hours they had managed to rebuild my dress and add a few extra touches to make it even better than before. If it wasn't for Alicia, I'm not sure what I would have done. She was so sweet and went above and beyond to make sure that I was happy. I cannot express how grateful I am to her and her team. I would highly recommend Vanya designs, I could not be happier with them!

Great place!

I was very worried about my dress alterations. I work as apparel designer so it was very hard to trust someone else with my dress but she did an incredible job! She listened to what I had to say and did exactly what I wanted! Will definitely use her again for other alterations!

Alicia raised the neckline on my wedding dress and added straps. She hand beaded the entire addition. She worked with me until it was perfect! I LOVE it!! She made my beautiful dress gorgeous! I couldn't be happier!!

Alicia is AMAZING! I was in a bind when my plans to go to another country to get my dress made was put aside. But I put my faith and trust in Alicia and she went above and beyond! If I could do it again, I would definitely go with Alicia again. Vanya not only did an amazing job hemming my dress, but also did a great job on all my groomsmen, ushers and husband’s tuxes!! She went above and beyond and ordered extras just to make sure we were covered on the big day. She also was available the day before and if my wedding! I would recommend everyone to come here if needing anything done, especially for your big day! Thank you again for everything!

Here is my Vanya designs wedding dress story...

This thank you is not only for Alicia at Vanya designs but also for my momma and my new momma in law because they GAVE ME their own wedding dresses for Alicia to create into a dress/romper for me for my wedding. My wedding dress wouldn’t have meant so much to me without them. The romper part was made from my momma Tina’s dress and the skirt and veil were from momma Jeane’s dress. It was all made possible because of Alicia and her wonderful abilities at Vanya Designs. It truly is and will be one of my favorite pieces I wear because it means so much but also because Alicia put so much passion into doing it for me. She was just as excited as I was and was completely and absolutely a dream to work with. Even when I didn’t feel confident and beautiful in myself she reminded me that we’re all beautiful and different and that she was there to help make sure I saw it in myself. If you ever need anything, she’s a little drive away but she’s worth every single mile and penny!

Within the first five minutes of our design meeting after seeing the dress she drew up EXACTLY what I wanted. The veil was an after thought we brought to the second to last fitting but she had it done and ready by the last fitting and I couldn’t have asked for anything more beautiful or meaningful. She made something beautiful while keeping the integrity of both the dresses. She made them come together seamlessly. Absolutely perfect. I got so many compliments. I was not disappointed.

The team at Vanya designs is wonderful! They are so great to work with and make every meeting a pleasant interaction. Alicia did a wonderful job on my wedding dress alterations and designed and made the most beautiful dress for my mom! My mom is a different shape and had the hardest time finding a dress, we went into see Alicia and she was able to make her dream dress come to life and my mom could not have looked more beautiful on our big day!

They recognize the value and importance of what they do and they don’t take that responsibility lightly. They don’t make you feel like a number or customer or dollar sign. Alicia crafted a fantastical red wedding dress for me and it is stunning. She worked with me on the design and execution and made sure every detail was perfect. She had made a dream into reality. A while back she had made me a custom bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding party, and I knew, years before even my proposal, that she would be the one to make my wedding dress. My now-husband was also able to rent a tux and shoes through her and she was more than accommodating. Alicia and her team are a gem in the wedding dress hunt, especially for those who can't find THE dress or anyone who wants something special made just for them for their special occasion. Her dresses are pieces of art and I will have these two masterpieces for my lifetime.

The whole process from start to finish was so easy and enjoyable. It was really fun to work with Alicia and she really does listen to what you want and need. She listens to what you don’t like and your concerns. She is so nice and reasonable on everything she creates. And you can tell she takes her time and she puts herself into every piece that she is working on. It really is an art for her and you can feel her excitement in it. I would go back again and again for anything like this I would need. I would also tell everyone I know that needs a wedding dress or party dress of any kind this is the place to go for sure. Get what you want, what you have dreamed of. You can create that dream with Alicia and have that dress of your dreams!!!

I had bought my wedding dress out of state and nearly given up after months of issues with the alterations. 2 weeks before the wedding I found Vanya, Jill & Alicia; I wish I had found them sooner! They fixed the mishaps from before, fitted my dress just the way I liked it in time & I found an Alicia original while at a fitting I’ve purchased for New Years. They are my new go-to for gowns & alterations.

What a beautiful experience! I had my Mother of the Bride dress designed and it was fabulous. The show stopper was our granddaughter’s flower girl dress that Alisha designed! Incredible!! It is now a family heirloom and we could not have been happier. Attention to detail was shown throughout the entire process on both dresses. I will have to say I have used Vanya design from the beginning of her opening shop. I hate that she moved from Derby but I know for her it was the right decision. I love the new place in Wichita and wish you and your staff well.

For me altering my gown was nerve wrecking, because mine sort of "fit good," so I thought I could get by without altering it too much, after working with the seamstress she shared with me a few options that she felt could add just what the gown needed to fit me correctly. She was right! I am so glad I took her advice and made the small changes. My dress fit me perfect and clung to me instead of hung off of me, which is a big difference it shaped my curves to look great in all the right places and help hide others I was self conscious about. My dress was lace material so I was worried that the pattern wouldn't come back together and match. I couldn't tell where she did her work the seams were flawless and literally fit me perfect. My dress wasn't too tight is was comfortable and the underarms didn't dig in at all. I am so happy with the work they did and the professionalism they had. I sincerely cannot say enough wonderful things about my experience working with Alicia! Every time I went wedding dress shopping I could find specific things about a dress that I liked but never find exactly what I was looking for even when I looked online.

A colleague recommended that I meet with Alicia just to see what she could do for me. I showed Alicia pictures of dresses that I had tried on and pictures of dresses I found online then told her what I was envisioning. Alicia literally sketched what ultimately became my dress, right in front of me. Her talent is amazing! Not only did she listen to me but she became emotionally invested in my dress, too!

In addition to having the perfect dress for my wedding the price was the same as all of the dresses I tried on in the wedding shops, sometimes less, and I since the dress was made for me there were no alterations needed. I actually saved money by having a custom dress.

Working with Alicia is an experience of a lifetime which has become a part of my wedding memory. Thank you Alicia for your kind heart, infectious spirit, and for sharing your amazing talent. You have helped make my wedding wonderful!

Vanya Design did a amazing job of turning my dress into my dream dress. I came in with a strapless mermaid dress that was missing that something special. By adding sleeves to my dress and raising my skirt it created that perfect romantic look I was going for. I am normally a very modest, body conscious person but I fell in love with a mermaid style strapless wedding dress and kinda bought it on a whim. I knew I would want some kind of coverup but hated the idea of wearing a "jacket" with my wedding dress. So I was referred to Vanya Design.
Alicia was very welcoming and professional during our intial meeting. I had brought in pictures and we discussed my options. After a quick fitting, she put together a plan to create a custom, removable top for the dress. We also discussed plans to hem and bustle the gown.
Even after asking for a few changes/additions during the process, she always remained positive and open to my opinions.
The pricing was upfront and honest and the quality of the work was exceptional.
Vanya Design definitely went above and beyond my expectations!

Alicia was awesome to work with. I wanted a very unique wedding dress as far as style and color. (I wanted a high low hemline and purple lace.) I was having trouble finding a dress I liked. When I went in to see Alicia I showed her a few pictures of dresses to give an idea of what I wanted and she sketched up my future wedding dress in just a few minutes! I was already amazed! She was wonderful! Was even able to make a beautiful bracelet out of the excess from my diamond belt she sewed on my dress!

After making my initial appointment I read (recent) not so great reviews on Facebook, I contacted vanyas regarding this as it was VERY concerning to me. She assured the situation to me and made me feel comfortable with my choice of choosing them. I was having major work done! (Litterally my skirt was cut off, moved up 5-6 inches, and was sewn back on. Along with embroidery that was taken off and replaced back onto my skirt.) among not so major work, tulle under skirt and belt sewn on. I think in total I paid around 500.00 Which I felt was fair. She did the different alterations to my dress in sessions which made it easier and less stressful for me. She also accommodated for me when having to reschedule (twice). She listened to my opinion but also helped this over decisive bride make decisions! For your wedding dress, I wouldn't trust anyone else.
