We contracted with Blackwell Soundz for our wedding this past November. From my first interaction with Eric (owner), I knew I had made a great choice. Eric is very easy going and easy to deal with while still being a consummate professional the entire time...even when we had to change our wedding date, it was no problem. Eric will provide questionnaires to help him get to know you and your vision for your wedding. We used Blackwell for dj services - both ceremony and reception - as well as for our photographers and videography. Our engagement pictures turned out great, thanks to Jimmy and our dj -- Taylor was AMAZING. We had a couple of surprises for our guests in both our ceremony and reception that required the assistance of the dj and Taylor absolutely nailed it.
The package we got included, engagement photos, wedding photos with 2 photogs, video and dj. The value we got for what we spent, can't really be beat. Now I can't wait to see our video!! LOL. Again, if you hire Blackwell, I don't see how you won't be very happy.

I cannot recommend Eric and his team enough!! My husband and I decided to use their photography, videography, and DJ services, and they definitely did not disappoint! Not only did their services turn out AMAZING, but they were also extremely friendly and fun and truly cared about making our day special. And as for the DJ, he was fantastic! Everyone danced all night long and had the best time. So if you are looking for a photographer, videographer, and/or a DJ, my husband and I highly recommend this company. We booked Blackwell for our 2020 wedding. But had to cancel once the pandemic happened. The were more than accommodating when we had to reschedule for 2022. The photographer, Dj, and videographer were amazing.

The best to work with!
We originally spoke to Eric to get details and select the package that was perfect for us. He was very quick to reply and explained everything very clearly. Eric then connected us with Matt as our DJ, and Matt’s attention to detail made our day so special. We had some unique modifications to our day and Matt found the perfect songs to match. Before the wedding Matt did a very detailed phone call to get to know us, and was also very fast to reply to emails we sent. He was thorough in feeling out our taste in music, and going through a day of timeline which was so helpful. On the day of I was able to check in with Matt in the morning and throughout the day he checked in keeping us on schedule. Matt was also so flexible with some natural last minute changes that came up. He played the perfect music to get everyone on the dance floor and keep them there! Matt was a huge part of our day from ceremony music, mics, music at the reception, and so much more! He made us feel at ease with his professionalism, organization, and sense of humor! We had total trust in him, which is a great feeling on your wedding day! We definitely recommend DJ Matt, and would love to work with him again given the opportunity!

Dream Wedding
Matt Lawther was the DJ at my wedding a couple weeks ago and he was absolutely spot on, amazing, rolling with changes and worked with our unique wedding style. Matt was accurate with all the music I asked him to play and when to play it. He didn’t miss a beat! He also worked with my event planner for a couple of day of changes that impacted his role. It was seamless - no one even knew a change had been made! Due to COVID and limited space at my venue, I chose not to have a dance floor. Matt played beautiful smooth/sweet jazz for our dinner. It was great! But then, a few of my guests who stayed later had some dancing song requests which he happily switched over to! It was a dream day and Matt made it all extremely seamless. Perfection!

My husband and I got married in October and we had the pleasure of working with DJ Eric and DJ Matt. They were both so wonderful to work with and fun. My husband and I like to goof around and they got along with us just great. They were awesome about getting back to us with our questions and making everything flow very nicely. We just recently got our wedding video back and wow how amazing. I am so happy we went with the videographer too. Now along with the pictures of our special day, we have a wonderful video we can watch over and over again. The pricing on everything is some of the best around and the quality of the work is amazing. I am very happy we decided to pick them as our DJ and videographer. We were not disappointed. Couldn't Imagine My Day Without Them!
Blackwell Soundz was the best decision I could have made for our wedding. Eric and his son Erias handled our photos. I personally loved the attention to detail and the direction they gave us. Posing for photos isn't something I'm used to an they made me feel very comfortable. My fiance loved their creativity for his groomsman photos. My guest came up to me multiple times and mentioned how friendly and funny Eric was. Eric felt like more of a friend to me by the end of the night.
Our DJ was Randy Taylor. We loved him!! He made sure to cover everything we wanted during our phone call. He paid attention to our wants and needs. On the actual day, he was the last person I saw before I headed up the stairs and down the isle. He helped me get my dress fixed and offered me a hand an a reassuring smile. He was fun, attentive, and fantastic at his job. He took special requests all night and even kept the music going while he was cleaning up for the night. He even aloud my stepson to wear his headphones and pretend to DJ. He was perfect!
Our Videographer was Enzo Sica. He was very friendly and very professional. He worked very well with Eric and Erias to capture the best moments. He gave great direction and I can't wait to see the video he produces. He was there at every moment!

Eric was the DJ at my wedding 2 weeks ago. He did an amazing job and everyone loved the music he played. I appreciate a DJ who lets songs play through and doesn't move to the next song during the first one and he was very respectful of the music. Most of all, Eric was professional and easy to work with. Booking a call with him was easy and he spent additional time with me to talk about the venue and worked really well with my coordinator. I loved my wedding day and Eric helped make the music (from ceremony to dinner to dancing) and the other big things (dinner speeches and grand entrance and aisle music) perfect.

Our requests were atypical, and it worked out!
We needed a sound system, reliable music, and microphones at two locations.
Our dj was Matt. He was great about responding quickly and keeping appointments on time. He was very good about finding the music we requested. When our requests were very different from the standard wedding, instead of trying to guide us to fit a mold, Matt smiled and said he could see what image we were going for, then he recommended more pieces of music that kept our theme going.

Eric and his sons were great during our whole photography experience. We did photography and DJ services through Blackwell Soundz and were completely blown away. The photos turned out amazing and they were so fun to take pictures with, they made us feel relaxed and like we were hanging out with friends! Our experience was nothing short of perfect. Randy our DJ kept us dancing all night! He had people that don’t dance out there dancing with us. We loved everything about this awesome group of guys and would recommend them to anyone!

Eric was wonderful. He was so responsive from the minute we interviewed him to book through the end of the wedding. My wife and I hired Blackwell to cover photography, videography, and DJ'ing. This review will solely cover the DJ aspect.
My wife and I stumbled upon Blackwell on Wedding Wire as a top choice for wedding photography. After looking into them more, we decided to get the whole sha'bang from them. The DJ part was actually an extra for us for getting a package deal with photography and videography. (though we were looking to have them as a DJ before we figured that out. So...BONUS!)
DJ Randy was excellent. We were sent a standard form to fill out for him asking such things as pre-ceremony music, what music for the bride walking down the aisle, and what songs we would like, and not like, to hear. It was very thorough! The week of the wedding, we had 2 phone calls with him where we worked out all the details. He double checked that we had filled the form out correctly, went through it with us line by line, and even made sure he was pronouncing certain names right.
When we met DJ Randy the day of, we could tell he was a great guy from the get-go. Very personable and very friendly. He ran the whole wedding, from walking down the aisle to last dance, extremely smoothly. He was able to make on-the-fly adjustments when we realized we were a little behind from taking pictures and mingling. He played all the right music, based on our list we gave him, and he even noticed that the dance floor was being more receptive to some of the older dance music on our list and continued playing that. There were people dancing non-stop and that is just what we wanted. As an added bonus, he was able to accommodate a request from me wanting to perform a song on guitar to my wife. He had all the necessary gear to make that work as well/
If we ever have the need for a DJ again, we will not hesitate to request DJ Randy again. He was amazing and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a DJ for a wedding!

We had DJ Randy for our vow renewal and he was amazing! He played exactly what we asked and helped keep things going smoothly and kept us informed when the venue was running late or early on things that messed up our timeline. We couldn't have asked for a better experience with Blackwell Soundz and Entertainment. Not only were they extremely professional they also made the entire process fun and personable. Both Eric and Randy were thorough in making sure every detail was covered from the engagement photoshoot to the day of timeline. They both interacted with our bridal party and guests (which we loved) and almost every guest (even Grammy) was on the dance floor. As the bride, the music was really important to me and I can tell you that I did not leave the dance floor for two straight hours. We had the best time at our wedding, much in part to Blackwell Soundz & Entertainment.

DJ Randy was amazing to work with! He was always professional and very responsive to my emails and phone calls. I was nervous choosing a DJ because I hate loud music, and he assured me that he'd keep the volume down while still playing upbeat dance music. It was perfect!!! I am a musical theater lover and he incorporated a bunch of Broadway showtunes into our night. I couldn't have been happier! Our dance floor was packed the entire night. DJ Blackwell was the STAR of our wedding! He was absolutely phenomenal - he played a great mix of older songs, mixed with younger songs, and didn't hesitate to play our "When Drunk" playlist when the night got rowdy. He was an absolute joy to work with, and we HIGHLY recommend him!!!

DJ Eric was so great to work with! He was so accomidating and was very flexible day of when we were running a little behind. He also was very understanding when I forgot to pay the last payment until day of. Some of our bridal party had tough names and he got it spot on day of! Highly reccomend!!

Eric was wonderful to work with. It was complete chaos while I was getting ready everyone was late, things were not working out at all. He was so calm and kept telling me everything would be okay. He took some great pictures, had some great ideas. He mingled very well with my family. He was responsive

Eric is very nice & super patient with me when I didn't understand something. He did everything I wanted him to do & more. I was so surprised when he got on the dance floor & started dancing with us. Eric was so laid back and was just the type of DJ that I wanted for our wedding. He was very affordable and was such a sweet guy. We met him two days before the wedding and he explained exactly how the day would go, how attentive he would be to our needs throughout the night and he definitely delivered. Throughout the night, he checked in with us a few times to make sure we were happy or wanted anything changed and was very adaptive to the crowd. He brought his son Junior who was such a great guy too and was very welcome. If you are looking for a vendor that is reliable, relaxed, and doesn't require extra work to get a great outcome, I would definitely recommend Eric to you.

DJ Eric was amazing. I mean it when I say, once the floor was open, it was never empty. We had older guests and younger guests, and that is hard to accommodate! I always hoped my wedding would be a PARTY, and it was thanks to DJ Eric! He is also so nice! I felt so relaxed knowing the party was in good hands while my husband and I went around greeting guests and couldn't attend to the party. I have been to a few weddings where the DJ is obnoxious and steals the show, but DJ Eric was professional and fun! My parents also have been raving about him, and their taste is SO different from mine! We wouldn't have gone with any other DJ, and we didn't even meet him prior to our reception!

Eric did a wonderful job with our wedding! Eric was very flexible with our schedules. His photography services were phenomenal beginning with our engagement photo shoot and ending with our wedding photos. He also provided videography, which turned out great. The quality of his photos and video was excellent. The pricing/packages that he provides is very reasonable. My husband and I thank Eric for his professionalism and recommend his services to anyone who is looking for great quality at a great price.

Originally booked this vendor, very nice and attentive. I chose to use a DJ that was familiar with our venue for convenience. Eric was understanding--although I was not refunded my deposit as to be expected per policy, respectfully the waiver for cancellation fee was granted. I con not say enough how professional he was. He read the crowd perfectly. The dance floor was packed from 6:00 to 11:00. No one wanted him to stop. I would highly recommend him for any event.

Eric was the perfect DJ for my daughter's wedding. Several of our guests commented on how good he was. He was very adaptable to anything the couple suggested and was never thrown when they wanted to depart from the norm. He kept the energy going without being over the top or annoying himself (unfortunately a problem we have encountered with other wedding DJs!) He was a total professional and exercised great judgment about which songs on the couple's playlist to pay at what time, and made any announcements we asked for. He welcomed our use of a jazz saxophonist for the first dance and had no trouble finding a somewhat uncommon jazz standard for the father daughter dance, and did a great job with the hora. All this for a very reasonable price. Highly recommended.

I would highly recommend Blackwell Soundz and Entertainment. We have contracted with them twice in 10 months for DJ and sound system setups. Blackwell Soundz was extremely professional and timely; they arrived well before sound check. When the venue's sound system failed, Blackwell Soundz already had backup ready to go! And, they went above and beyond their contracted work. One member of the team assisted us with unloading and loading our car! Our event was held in Hopewell Township (an area that I am not very familiar with). The BSE team was kind enough to led us back toward the Pittsburgh airport area. I'll only contract with Blackwell Soundz for future DJ and sound needs.

We are so glad that we chose to go with Blackwell Soundz! DJ Eric Blackwell was absolutely amazing! His company was very professional from the start, and always available via email, text, or phone when we had any questions. Our reception was outside in a winery's garden, so we were a little worried about whether this would affect DJ Eric's ability to spin for us. It did not. We danced all night, non stop, and received a ton of compliments on how much fun people had. After the wedding, we said that if we ever need a DJ for anything else, we're calling DJ Eric.

I had a wonderful experience working with Eric from Blackwell Soundz. He truly blessed me with his level of profesionalism and attentiveness. He was always available via email or phone to discuss the plans for the reception. He also offered great suggestions. Eric also took the time to learn the names of the wedding party as to be able to pronounce them correctly during the introductions. He was available for changes up to even the day of the wedding.
The reception was done beautifully. The atmosphere was just what we wanted. All the music we wanted to have played was played. Our guests never left the dance floor even with "clean" music being played. It was great. Eric even made up a dance to show the guests in which they were all fully engaged!
Overall, Eric was a pleasure to work with, and I would definitely recommend Blackwell Soundz to anyone.

DJ Eric was an amazing DJ!! He was very responsive to all of my questions and willing to give us any suggestions on music for the ceremony and reception. He also made sure our pastor was hearable during the ceremony by providing microphones. He hyped up the crowd to get some dancing going (it was a morning wedding, with little to no alcohol, haha).Blackwell sounds was a valuable addition to our wedding. I couldn't have imagined having any other DJ.

Eric and Warren were professional from the first phone call. They always got back to us when they said they would. Eric did a great job DJing our wedding. He was great at getting it all running smoothly and getting everyone to participate. We would definately use their services again!

Easy to work with leading up to the wedding
Working with Eric and DJ Chris leading up to the wedding was so smooth! I had to postpone our wedding several times, and Eric was really understanding and flexible. We had a couple of calls with DJ Chris before the wedding, and it went so well. He nailed name pronunciations for announcements, played the songs that we wanted, and we had a good mix for our crowd.

Blackwell soundz were Great! They communicated with us well, were early to our wedding, and came prepared with our song list. They played a very well mix of music due to our diverse guests! My wife and I definitely recommend these guys! Thanks again Eric!

Our wedding was anything but traditional, and Eric rolled with everything we threw at him, including adding ceremony music at the last minute and tons of crazy requests. His website and customer forms made getting information to him extremely easy.

Vendor was prompt and polite. Vendor played pre approved music and kept the dancing going all through the event. We would recommend this vendor for any couples wedding.

Eric was a great DJ - he's very kind and easy going, and was able to play the kind of music we requested. We are big dancers and so it was important that our guests had a good time and there was good variety - all of which was achieved! We would have loved to dance longer and maybe have our speeches start a bit earlier to accomplish this, but that was a lack of communication on our part.
We got a lot of compliments on Eric himself, how fun and involved he was - he even came and danced with me during the reception! He was also helpful in providing some additional things like mics for the pastor, and music for our ceremony in addition to running the reception - it all worked out great!
The only "negative" thing I would say, would be that we did ask him to come to our rehearsal on Friday to practice the music with our bridal party and he was pretty late with no explanation so we didn't get to practice with music- however, everything worked out on the day of and again, that was probably a lack of communication on our part as well.
Overall, no complaints - we were nervous about hiring a DJ we'd never met or worked with, but it turned out great and I'm happy we worked with Eric. I would definitely recommend his services to anyone that loves dancing and needs a good MC :)

Based on the very positive reviews we read, we hired Eric Blackwell as our dj for our wedding this past year. Overall, Eric was very nice and responsive to calls and emails. He was not difficult to work with. I am writing this review to offer some warning though-- at our wedding Eric was a very low energy dj. We were looking for a dj that was much more interactive and lively and that just wasn't Eric's speed. It may be an issue of match, however, we were not very happy with the services we received. For example, he played several songs we expressly asked him(several times) not to play and did not play songs we asked him to play. If you want a very energetic dj, you might want to look else where. Eric is very nice and his prices our reasonable but you may just want to consider the match between you and him, based on our experience.

-Never met me in person before my wedding
-said he would call me the Monday before my wedding and he never did...I had to try to reach him
-I already made a playlist of songs I wanted to be played during my reception and he said he would figure out how to share playlists on iTunes...never did...so I never got to select ANY of my reception music besides the first dance songs
-During the grand entrance of the bride and groom, he got the GROOM'S name wrong...huge mistake
-asked him to be energetic and get the crowd excited...he did for like 5 minutes in the beginning and that was it
-overall, very nice guy, just did not meet my expectations

Photographer was great Dj not so much
I hired Blackwell as I could bundle my DJ and photographer together thought everything would be great! The photography part was amazing I can't wait to see the photos Jimmy took. However the Dj where as she was very sweet and kind person she was running late and not communicating at all with the vendor or the photographer who is also Subcontracted by Blackwellz to the point my venue had a back up dj on call. It took Eric reaching out to find out she was just running late. Then on top of being late she had constant equipment issues where the sound would cut out and then blast back on it made some of my guests complain. I don't Normally write bad reviews however when I reached out to Eric about this to see about getting a partial refund due to all of the issues he said sorry about all of that but they stilled showed so all of the other issues are not my problem. I don't want to say the DJ's name as idk how much experience she has and for all I know could be new. But I feel that the sorry she showed up not my problem attitude because Eric uses Subcontractors is in very poor taste. As quite honestly I have friends that could have done better with a blue tooth speaker and a phone. I really hate doing this but I went with them because of a bundle price and thought I would be getting a good deal cause ya know bundle and less working parts to keep track of. I don't want others to feel like they got ripped off like I do. It was 3000 for the package split between the photography and the Dj and with as much as the Dj is a sweet person there was a lack of communication. Especially as the venue had reached out prior to day of to make sure of day of time line and to make sure of any needs they might have. Use Blackwellz for photography it was great ! If there had been willingness to do a partial refund as I definitely did not get $1500 worth of DJ service I would not have rated them so low but the "sorry she still preformed so any issues not our fault as they are subcontracted so we aren't liable" one would think that you would be willing to stand behind your subcontractors and be willing to make things right. I did not want a whole refund as she did show up and does deserve to be paid for that.

Erias provided the absolute worst DJ services ever! I am truly disgusted, frustrated, and annoyed that my guests, family, and husband and I had to deal with such a nasty individual and poor services on our wedding day. When I think about our wedding day, EVERYTHING was perfect, except the DJ services provided by Erias.
•arrived late and was slow setting up
•The wedding ceremony was delayed because Erias was not ready
•At the end of the ceremony, Erias played two very inappropriate songs for a wedding: Don't Let Go by En Vogue and Free Yourself by Fantasia. I told my maid of honor to tell him to cut Free Yourself immediately and she was greeted with an attitude. I was livid to hear Free Yourself being played RIGHT after we got married! It was very poor choice in selection.
•The first dances were RUINED!!!! Again, I was livid when there were issues with our first dance songs! We had two first dances. At first the songs were overlapping. Then there was an awkward silence while my husband and I are standing in the center of the room while Erias and his assistant fumble with 3 laptops trying to figure out how to play the songs correctly. Erias was given the list of songs far in advance and should not have had any issues with our first dances. This is such a memorable part of the day and it was completely ruined by Erias, an incompetent "DJ".
•Erias was completely unapologetic when I expressed my feelings about him messing up our first dances.
•My husband and I did a lipsync to Int'l Players Anthem and I specifically asked for the edited version of the song. Needless to say, Erias did not play the edited version of the track. I was embarrassed as my parents who are Pastors, our officiates, and grandparents were in the room. There is a video of me with my head in my hands in embarrassment.
After voicing our complaints, Eric, the owner, was professional and sympathetic to our situation by offering compensation for our services.
