Upstairs Downstairs was amazing all around!

We catered Upstairs Downstairs for our wedding and are so grateful we did because not only was the food amazing, the staff was just as sweet and amazing. Our guests were so impressed with the food and service. They were so helpful and accommodating from the very beginning. They answered any questions we had as well as helped us navigate through what to do for one of our guests who had a nut allergy.

Highly recommend!

Upstairs Downstairs catered our rehearsal dinner & welcome drinks a couple weeks ago. We can not speak more highly of their services - the food was tasty and service was excellent. Working with Upstairs leading up to the event could not have been easier - they are very accommodating and made for an epic night!

Great to work with!

We are so thankful we went with Upstairs Downstairs for our caterers for our wedding. They truly went above and beyond for us. I’ll admit we weren’t the easiest couple to plan with, but they were so patient and understanding with us the entire step of the way.

We worked with Dan a lot and he truly made us feel so comfortable and welcome throughout the whole process. After our first tasting we were still unsure of what to serve and they graciously invited us for a second tasting. We were still unsatisfied with one of the options and they invited us back to taste it yet again to see if they had made it to our liking (which they did)!

They also were able to make family recipes with us and collaborate on creating new recipes which turned out delicious. Having a winter wedding, we thought a soup instead of a salad would be a nice change to warm everyone up. I asked that they try out my mother’s Portuguese green bean soup which they absolutely nailed!

We also had quite a few food sensitivities amongst our guests and they were extremely accommodating allowing guests to select individual options that suited their needs.

Overall, we can’t thank them enough for how fantastic they were. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the night went seamlessly.

Best wedding food ever

Kayla was wonderful to work with during this process. We got to try several food options before deciding anything, and they were all so good that we knew our wedding buffet was going to be a hit. They were very accommodating about having sauces on the side and changing the ravioli from porta bella to cheese within the last month before the wedding. Everyone raved about the food and how good it was. We got cupcakes through UpDown as well. There seemed to have been some confusion on the day of the wedding of who was providing them (they thought we were and they were just putting them out for us) but they made a call and got us the cupcakes we ordered. We also had a late night snack - a nacho bar - that was a crowd pleaser. They wrapped up all the leftover food for us to take home. Would definitely recommend them!

Delicious food, helpful staff

Upstairs Downstairs Catering did a phenomenal job at our wedding. Everything was delicious and guests still talk about how good the food was. The staff were courteous and helpful from the set up to the clean up. Our favorite part was the late night soft pretzels- our guests loved them! If you're looking for a responsive, helpful, reasonably priced and delicious caterer- look no further.

They were the highlight of our reception!

This was our first experience with Upstairs Downstairs, and it was INCREDIBLE. We hired them for our small backyard wedding reception of 50-60 people and from our first interactions coordinating food selections and the timeline with Kayla to the drop-off food and pick-up of the dishes, we were met with nothing but kindness, flexibility, and the utmost of professionalism. Additionally, we and our guests were SO impressed by the quality and taste of the food. Even our pickiest guests went for seconds (and thirds). They will definitely be getting our business again, and likely the business of many of our guests in the future.

Delicious Food, Nice People, Helpful Advice!!!

People remember three things from your wedding: Music, Drinks, and Food. Upstairs Downstairs did an absolutely amazing job on that last one for my wife and I. Their service was excellent and the food was top notch and consistent (I didn't hear a single complains from any of our 157 guests). The entire process, from first meeting, through tastings, detail meetings, our endless questions and tweaks, all the way through our big day was fantastic. Kayla put us at ease, and had plenty of very useful advice and experience to share. I STRONGLY recommend working with these folks. We do not regret it one bit.

Upstairs Downstairs is the best!

Upstairs Downstairs catered my daughter’s wedding and the food, service and thoughtfulness were beyond expectations. I was the wedding planner and appreciated Kayla’s assistance. Phil the lead server was the best. Would not change a thing. Friends and relatives loved the dinner and our vegan guests said their dinner was delicious.

Great Service, Excellent Meal

Upstairs Downstairs Catering catered my wedding this past month. I worked with Kayla throughout the process. She was very helpful and great to work with. She provided great recommendations based on what we were looking for. The service the day of could not have been better! Food came out fast and the servers where quick to clear. Food was excellent! The butternut squash ravioli had so much flavor and the steak was perfectly cooked. We went with family style so it was nice to be able to have some of all the dishes. I received so many comments on how great the service and food was. I highly recommend Upstairs Downstairs Catering.

Amazing Food and Staff

The most amazing tasting food. All came out nice and warm. The staff are extremely friendly and make sure to take good care of you! They are very open to whatever you want-I wanted family style and they made it happen. I highly recommend for a wedding!

Absolutely fantastic!

Upstairs Downstairs Catering was absolutely amazing at our wedding! The food and service was incredible - our guests weren't disappointed. Kayla was amazing and worked with us every step of the way. The guests meals were fantastic as well as our late night snacks - all of our guests enjoyed everything! We knew we wouldn't be able to enjoy the amazing cupcakes they made, so they created a to go box for us before we left.
We highly recommend Upstairs Downstairs for your special day!

Beyond Expectations!

Upstairs Downstairs Catering was fabulous for our wedding! Amazing food, Amazing Service and Staff. Dan worked with us every step of the way, answered any and every question we had, and allowed us to tweak the menu until it was perfect for us. The staff went above and beyond expectations;professional and personal service. One of the gals even boxed up "to go" meals for us to bring on our honeymoon. Cant recommend them enough! Thank you guys for helping to make our special day the best!!

Recommendation without hesitation! Top Notch experience

I can't possibly say enough about our experience with Upstairs Downstairs. The first meeting with Kayla really set the tone of their attentiveness and willingness to make our wedding day truly special! From allowing a favorite recipe of ours to be used to her 'bending over backwards.'

The Best Decision We Made for Our Wedding

We used Upstairs Downstairs for our wedding reception of 130 people. Our first meeting with Kayla was so impressive and she was easy to work with - very responsive and friendly. We wanted to do something a little bit different - a Pizza buffet. She worked with us on some more unique pizza ideas (mac and cheese pizza - so yummy!!). The overall price was also very affordable. We also hired a few bartenders from UpDown. On our wedding day, everything was incredible - the service, the food, the set up and take down, I didn't worry about a single thing. Our guests were so complimentary of the staff and of the food. Hiring UpDown was one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning process! I hope to be able to plan another event and hire them in the future.

Kayla was amazing to work with answering all my questions and helping my dream wedding come to life! The food was hot, served on time and absolutely delicious! The staff was very professional! Dan is the best. He went above and beyond time and again to make sure my wife and I had everything we wanted. We were blown away by how friendly, professional, and accommodating he is. He answered all of our (many) questions, and his response to any request we had was that he and his team could do it, whether it was a slight tweak to a dish or a specific service request during dinner. He also knew exactly what questions to ask to make sure we had everything we needed and to anticipate any issues that may arise (and make sure they didn’t). Also the food was great (especially the mini cupcakes). Though I hope to never plan another wedding, I would absolutely hire Dan and Upstairs Downstairs again if I did.

Upstairs Downstairs was great! We got so many wedding guests that told us it was the best wedding food they had ever had and we would have to agree. My husband works as a chef and a caterer and he was very pleased as well. We had a couple of people with food allergies and they were more than happy to accommodate those and made wonderful meals for those that needed something special.

We worked closely with Rhonda to create a delicious, causal menu that reflected the fun and friendly vibe we wanted for our barn wedding. We had a delicious Wisconsin inspired menu including fried cheese curds and mac n cheese bites (both fried fresh on site!), beef and chicken kebabs (grilled on site!), and butter burgers and mini brats. YUM! We opted to have passed appetizers - at no additional charge - which was a huge help in making sure our guests stayed satisfied. The bartenders were fun and even remembered some of the guests names and what they liked to drink! Overall, Upstairs Downstairs made our day delicious and easy. I would absolutely recommend them to someone having a casual rustic barn wedding!

We chose Upstairs Downstairs Catering based on the reviews we read and the delicious food served at our tasting! We could not be happier with our choice! Rick was so flexible and easy to work with. He went above and beyond by visiting our venue as he had not catered there before! Phil and the staff were wonderful the day of the wedding. Phil kept us informed the entire evening, and the staff was extremely friendly and polite! And the food was awesome! From the appetizers, to dinner, the dessert bar and our late night snack of nachos....everything was delicious! Thanks so much for everything!

Dan and the servers at Upstairs Downstairs Catering were amazing for our June 10th wedding. My dad wasn’t sold on catering the wedding until the tasting with Upstairs Downstairs. Dan was very good at communicating and giving us a very good idea of what to expect and what we needed to know. He was also very professional and centered. They were great with last-minute changes when the wind was gusting at 60 mph on our day and we couldn’t go with our original set-up. They were true professionals that know what they are doing and we never had to worry the whole night. Everyone raved over the food and it was as good as the tasting! We could not be happier with how the night went, they were the easiest choice of the whole planning process. We will hire them again for another event in a heart-beat.

We recently had Upstairs Downstairs cater our wedding - and it was fantastic!

Rick kept in touch with us throughout the process, from our tasting session through our wedding day itself. He was even present day-of, ensuring that our day went just right. We loved everything, from the hors d'oeuvres (Wisconsin Brat Bites, mmm!) to salads to the dinner itself. Everything was hot and prepared just the way we expected it.

Rick and the folks at Upstairs Downstairs did a marvelous job - we can't recommend them enough! Thanks!

This team did an exceptional job with the buffet-style meal at our wedding. On time, professional, and thoughtful - not to mention the truly delicious food. My only lament is that my cake toppers got lost somewhere in the shuffle :( Things happen - would still highly recommend to anyone who wants to serve & enjoy wonderful meal on their wedding day!

We loved working with Rick and Dan from Upstairs Downstairs! They were friendly and informative and allowed us to ask the millions of questions we had without making us feel like we were a bother. The food was AMAZING and the staff we had for our wedding day was awesome. They were personable and professional and excelled in keeping guests fed. We got tons of compliments on our food and the staff. We had concerns about the integrity of the food, being that our venue was about an hour away with no on-site kitchen but they ended up being unfounded. Everything was hot, fully cooked, and delicious! The only issue we had was with an appetizer we chose. At the tasting it had a very creamy cheese spread filling and day of, the filling was ricotta. It definitely changed the consistency and taste of the app and that was a bit disappointing. However, it was just a small blemish in what was otherwise delectable food. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend Upstairs Downstairs for any event!

Upstairs Downstairs was AMAZING. My husband and I can't thank Rick enough for everything he did to make our wedding evening perfect! We had a very small, catered dinner of about 12 people at our venue and the food was amazing. Our families loved the food and we had plenty of it! My brother in law even said it was the best food at a wedding he's ever had. Besides the food, the linens, set up, and Rick's courtesy and professionalism were top notch. He responded to emails promptly too. Overall, 5+ star rating!!!

We were very pleased with Upstairs Downstairs catering. First thing the food was amazing! Everyone at the wedding was talking about how good the food was. There was plenty of food to go around. The staff was very professional and friendly. Dan was great to work with! He replied fast to emails, was available to meet, and was very helpful! I can't say enough good things about Upstairs Downstairs. Next time we need something catered we definitely will use them again!!!

What a wonderful experience! From the first email interaction, to the day of our wedding! Dan and his team totally take care of everything for you and make sure that you can rest easy on your wedding day. Staff was on time, friendly and totally accommodating. The food was delicious, guests are still complimenting us on the menu! We had a semi-out of the box vision for our food and Dan executed it and contributed some ideas that we hadn't even thought of! I cannot recommend Upstairs Downstairs enough!

These guys were the best, 5 stars in every way. We had a small wedding at our home, and they still treated it like a big important event -- super accommodating, went above & beyond to offer great options, straightforward and really easy to deal with. Affordable, flexible, we were happy to find a caterer who could do kids meal and serve everything family style. Food was wonderful, service staff at the event were great: chill, eager to help, friendly but very much in the background. Cannot say enough good things about this company!

Choosing Upstairs Downstairs Catering for our wedding day was one of the easiest and best choices ever. Easy, because Dan is amazing and we could tell right away he had all the right solutions. We got married in a barn and when we met Dan for the tasting, he had so many great suggestions for what the day would look like and the role Upstairs Downstairs would play. He had suggestions for things I hadn't even thought of, and my family, husband and I immediately felt 100% confident in Dan. With all the stress and crazy-ness in planning a wedding, Dan made my life simple. He had the answer to any roadblock that came up, he had a solution to every question. (No matter how goofy, because I actually had no idea what I was doing planning a wedding.) Beyond Dan's excellent organization, thoroughness, kindness and amazing-ness, the food was AMAZING! All of the guests kept telling us how good the food was. If I got married 100 times more (hopefully that isn't the case) I would choose Upstairs Downstairs every time.

I would highly highly recommend these guys for your event. They were absolutely spectacular. So many things come included just in their service and they're so affordable. I was so stressed a few weeks before the wedding and they really helped reassure they would take care not only of the catering but other aspects of the wedding as well. I can't say enough. Our best friends are using them now too!

Wonderful service and Excellent food. The entire staff was so nice. They didn't even mind when we ended up having to push dinner back 10 minutes because pictures were going to take longer the planned.

We had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Upstairs Downstairs Catering company from the moment we first contacted them to the wedding itself. Dan Brown was our contact there, and made our full experience easy & exceptional. He was easy to contact, and consistently quick to respond to emails or phone calls. He was always friendly and extremely helpful. He made sure to review all of the details with us from the beginning of our planning, and repeatedly right up until the time of our wedding - to make sure everything was perfect and just how we wanted it. We chose to grill on site, and our guests all RAVED about the food. It was really delicious! Their prices are so reasonable, and the service they provided (from organizing and planning to the service provided on the day of the wedding) was exceptional! We could not have asked for a more perfect catering experience. They really helped make our wedding the most enjoyable and fun experience!

Going into our big day we didn't care very much about food and cared more about the day in general...that is until we met with Dan at Upstairs Downstairs Catering. He was accommodating with everything we threw at him and was really easy to deal with. The staff on site the day of our event was fantastic as well. They are one of the best priced places we looked at but you would have never guessed based on the food they served us for our wedding. We had a duet plate with the Filet of Tenderloin and the Bacon and Gorgonzola stuffed chicken. The week before we decided we wanted cannoli cupcakes and when my wife went to do a tasting he has 6 different combinations waiting for her. We had 200 people at our wedding and everyone I talked to raved about the food. I work in the food and beverage world and manage banquets and I would highly recommend them to anyone for any kind of event.

There are no words to express our happiness in choosing Upstairs Downstairs to cater our wedding. From the minute we met Dan, we felt as though we were in good hands. He listened to us, answered all of our questions, told a lot of funny stories, and above all the food was amazing. Dan answered every question we had along the way, answering our emails usually within a day. The staff on the day of the event were extremely professional and it's not often that wedding guests rave about the quality of the food long after the cake has been served. I would recommend Upstairs Downstairs Catering to anyone and if the need ever arises, will use them again, hands down.

The venue that we signed with for our wedding initially had in-house catering and we were really looking forward to the restaurant quality food. When they suddenly dropped their catering 9 months before our wedding we didn't know what we were going to do! Luckily we connected with Dan at Upstairs Downstairs and he made sure everything was even more amazing than we anticipated. The food was so delicious. The Wisconsin chicken was a huge hit along with the sweet potatoes and of course the edible orchid on the salad. We had a number of guests with dietary restrictions and Dan worked with us to make sure everyone was going to have a great meal to eat. It was a pleasure working with him and his catering crew!!

I am still getting compliments about the food at our 9/5/15 wedding. I cannot believe what quality food they provided. We got beef brisket, mac and cheese, WI chicken, corn on the cob, mini brats, broccoli and peppers. The beef brisket was delicious- everything was even better than the tasting. I cannot believe the quality for such a reasonable price. I worked with Megan at first, who was great. But then we worked directly with Dan, who was maybe the nicest wedding vendor that I worked with- he was so accommodating with our count change up until 48 hours before the event. He even took care of our vendors.
At the wedding, the staff was unreal- they were constantly checking in with us- making sure everything was great. They packed up all the food, sliced all the pies, and provided all the bar fruit, mixers and apps. Oh, and the bartenders were awesome. They poured great drinks and everyone was telling me how funny and nice they were. They also helped us pack up, which they were not required to do. We made sure to take care of them at the end. I could not be happier with the food and service at my wedding. Thank you!

We worked with Upstairs/Downstairs for our Blue Mounds, WI wedding on 8/15/15. These guys were unbelievable every step of the way for us. Meeting with them for our initial consultation was the best- we did a testing with Dan which felt like a date for the two of us with an incredibly fun and helpful third wheel (Dan). He answered all of our questions, and answered things for us we didn’t think to ask. He asked us lots of questions about what we wanted for our wedding, and was able to point us in the direction of what he thought would work best for us/our budget/our venue. As a company they were incredibly responsive by email, had a very straightforward contract, and were incredibly reasonable in pricing for the outstanding quality of the service and food they provided.

The day of our wedding, U/D were amazing. They showed up on time, set up quickly, kept things moving, and served up the most amazing food. One of the things we served was tenderloin, which was hot and very nicely cooked despite our venue being over 30 miles away from their home base. Their plated salads were gorgeous, colorful, and delicious. Their staff members were our favorite- from the bartender to the servers everybody was polite, efficient, and seemed excited to be there with us. We loved interacting with them throughout the day, and we heard lots of great feedback from guests about both the food and the friendly staff.

We were so thrilled to have worked with U/D Catering, and we give them our highest recommendation them for Wisconsin weddings or other events.

I truly can't say enough great things about Upstairs Downstairs. They were flexible, accommodating, responsive, and overall really fantastic to work with. The Event Coordinator was out on medical leave, and we worked with the owner, Dan. He is wonderful. We had guests cancel three days before the wedding, and we were refunded accordingly - even with such late notice. Our photographer wanted to take photos during dinner, and we ended up missing most of it. They made up separate plates for us with fresh, hot food, rather than the platters that had been sitting on the table for half an hour (we had the food served family-style, which seemed to work well). The food was, honestly, the best I have had at a wedding. They went the extra mile with little requests, like lighting the candles before dinner. We also hired bartenders to serve alcohol we brought in, and they were fantastic as well.

I still can't really believe that a catering company as flexible and accommodating and just all around lovely as Upstairs Downstairs exists. My husband loves to cook, and we wanted the main dish at our wedding to be ratatouille because it was the first dish he ever made for me. I was convinced it was one of those wedding dreams that would never come true, but Upstairs Downstairs not only made ratatouille--they used our recipe! The day was so us already, but being able to tell our guests that they were eating the exact same meal that we had eaten together on our third date (right down to the recipe) was truly something special. Everyone on staff was a delight to work with, accommodating any number of changes and special requests. We feel so lucky to have found Upstairs Downstairs and have already recommended them highly to several of our friends.

Everyone at Upstairs/Downstairs was absolutely amazing from our tasting till the day after our wedding. Megan and Dan were beyond helpful in planning our meal and the food was exquisite. We also hired two bartenders through them and they were amazing - professional and fun. Everyone was an absolute pleasure to work with and I would recommend them in a heartbeat to any couple looking for catering!

We had a fabulous experience with Upstairs Downstairs. Megan is on top of everything and the whole event ran smoothly because of her - and the food was wonderful! From the first meeting, we could tell that we could trust her because of how prepared she was (we had thought we were prepared for the meeting and Megan asked us a handful of questions that never would have occurred to us). We had a few odd requests and non-traditional aspects to our food and they accommodated all of them. All of the costs were laid out up front and they have many options to work within varying budgets.

On the wedding day we had butler passed hors d'oeuvres and a server made sure to stop by us first, so we were able to try each of them, which we really appreciated. The whole dinner and dessert ran smoothly thanks to Megan and Upstairs Downstairs (not to us as we were totally scatterbrained). We have had many complements on the food.

Lastly, we were in a unique position in that 2 months before our wedding we attended a wedding that had also used Upstairs Downstairs as their caterer. Not only did we enjoy the food at that event as well, but Megan also made a point to stop by, say hello, and to ask us how are own planning was going. We highly recommend!

Upstairs Downstairs provided the catering to my wedding. I was very happy working with both Megan in the planning process and Sylvia on the wedding day. Megan was very thorough and thought of every little thing that I may need. She was easy to get in touch with and always answered my questions promptly. Sylvia was very helpful on my wedding day- I remember telling her about the location of supplies and her response was "don't worry about it, we will find it, go enjoy your day" It meant so much that I could trust her to get things together.

We had a vegetarian wedding for 100 guests under a tent on a farm in the middle of nowhere in Wisconsin during a thunderstorm! We also planned the wedding from 1000 miles away and Upstairs Downstairs was a life saver. We wanted something creative but decided first-and-foremost we wanted a team that knew what they were doing and were professional. These guys were amazing. The food (vegetable crepes and portabella ravioli) was fantastic. We have heard nothing but good things from our meat-loving guests. They worked with my husband over email and with my step-mom over the phone. They were laid-back but got the job done. I couldn't thank them enough for being there on our big day and helping it to run smoothly despite the weather. They listened to our needs and put up with an ever-changing head count as well.

Dan and the team at Upstairs Downstairs were fantastic - from the tastings (we had many and he was always happy to have us back to try more) through the coordination and meal, right up to the last drink poured. We had them cater our July wedding out an outdoor venue in Mount Horeb and it was a perfect night. 10/10 would recommend - the value of what we got for the price was unbeatable, and we looked into many different caterers in the Madison area. Dan was a nicest guy to work with, friendly, honest, and reliable.

They were fantastic! Megan, who we worked with, was wonderful. She talked us through everything and was very patient with multiple menu change requests. They have a very wide selection and are even open to creating new things. On the day of the wedding the food was perfect and the service was amazing. They paid special attention to us, and set aside plates of food for us. They staff was all friendly and helpful. I highly recommend them!

Amazing food! Everyone at our wedding commented on how great their dinner was! We had a steak option, a stuffed pork, and a mushroom ravioli and all were excellent! Megan, the coordinator, did a great job. She was very professional and really made sure we had exactly what we wanted. It was maybe slightly on the expensive side, but the food and service was great, I would definitely recommend them!

Upstairs Downstairs Catering provided our food for the wedding and we are so happy they did! While choosing the menu, they were very flexible with scheduling and allowing us to do two tastings due to family circumstances. They supported us in customizing little things for the meal and sticking with the requests we made. Kayla was amazing at communicating and going with the flow with our ever-changing wedding plans. We got tons of compliments on the food during the wedding and the wait staff was kind and good at reading the crowd for timing the meal. I highly recommend Upstairs Downstairs and would use them again in the future!

Rick and Upstairs Downstairs were a great company to work with! They are very reasonably priced for the great quality of food they offer. They were usually on top of things and would typically respond to my emails within a day or two. We wanted dinner to feel like it was a home-cooked meal which is why we chose to have it served family-style. We got a lot of compliments on the entrees and sides we chose as well as the delicious appetizers. We also were able to take home the leftover food from dinner which was great. Unfortunately, one of the main things that drew us to this company, the Ice Cream Sundae Bar, didn’t quite work out as planned which is the only reason I can’t give it a perfect rating. The ice cream didn’t stay frozen and many people, myself included, ended up eating soupy sundaes. A couple of the requested toppings also seemed to be missing. Other than the melted ice cream, Upstairs Downstairs was a fantastic company to work with! We highly recommend them if you want a great dinner without the stuffiness of a typical wedding meal.

Food was as good as when we tested it. We didn't get what we paid for.

We ordered the Filet, Chicken breast, Butternut Squash Ravioli, vegetables. The Ravioli was supposed to be for 25 plates. No one was offered it even though head of catering said he told all attendees it was available. When I asked all tables if they heard about it, no one heard. I had to get plates and offer them up myself. Then at the end of the night, I saw the catering people eating the ravioli and taking to go containers of it. We did not receive any leftovers of the squash to go even though only 9 plates were used. Chicken was dry. Service though was very good. We were just contacted by this vendor and they are refunding the Ravioli.
