It’s a mystery that Matt is a wedding DJ. He could genuinely be playing shows in Ibiza. (If you aren’t familiar with what that means, he’s among the best.)
My two strengths in life are loving music and being a comprehensive planner, which is why my wife put me in charge of the music for our wedding. As an audiophile and music production hobbyist, I would not settle for anything other than the best. I was even in contact with another DJ group before Matt, but I fired them after hearing samples from their sets. Then I found Matt.
Matt was not only immediately perceptive of my vision for our event, but he was also highly professional and consultative. He had ideas and brought passion and excitement.
Matt was one of the MAIN reasons why our wedding was incredible. We had many guests compliment him on how incredible of a job he did.
Last note with a true story: at the end of the night, at 11:45, all of our guests, including some older ones, were still on the dance floor. When we HAD to end the night, our guests STARTED CHANTING, “ONE MORE SONG!” I have been to dozens of weddings, and that has NEVER happened. Matt just smiled and threw another fantastic encore song, and we ended the night with the highest of highs.
Long review short: hire Matt immediately. He’s 1000% worth it and will help make your wedding the perfect event you want. We cannot thank Matt enough and he deserves all the praise! -

Matt did an absolutely PHENOMENAL job at DJing our wedding last weekend. As a backstory, my now (husband) and I met at EDC Orlando and have a passion to go to EDM music festivals throughout the year. We knew planning our wedding that we would need a DJ who catered to our music interests and didn't just play the standard/typical wedding DJ music because that is not the type of music my partner and I like. Our whole wedding was themed around the music festivals that we've attended, and we put the most time/effort into curating an amazing playlist, precessional music, and first dance.
My partner and I told ourselves that the most important part of our wedding is that it's a wonderful party, and that we love the music the most. Matt did incredible with dealing with our many specific requests, from sending specific files via sound cloud for our entrances and also remixes that my partner created. Also, my partner is a DJ himself and thought that Matt did absolutely amazing with curating with our playlist. Even though we knew not all our guests were going to be fully into the EDM music, everyone at one point was on the dance floor, which was absolutely amazing. We also invested in the CO2 cannons, and I'll never forget one of my bridesmaids getting sprayed with it, which will be an amazing image I'll never forget. Thank you Matt for giving us such an incredible time and professionalism! 10000/10 would recommend him!

Matt Butterworth and Butterworth Events made our wedding so special! He took time to meet us beforehand to learn the vision we had for our wedding. He listened with absolute kindness. He mastered the music and vibes for our beach ceremony + our fun reception to follow. Our guests raved about how much fun they had!
PS. We used the cold sparklers for our first dance and it was absolutely epic! -

DJ Matt did an amazing job putting together awesome music for our wedding. He made the ceremony perfect with his timing and played everything we requested. The cocktail and dinner hours were awesome with music that kept the guests upbeat, happy, and ready to party. He honored our requests for the reception and added his own flare of music, transitioning well between songs to keep the party going. The dance floor was filled the whole night because Matt did a great job playing songs to keep the crowd hyped. Thanks again to Matt and Ultra Mix Events for an awesome wedding! -

Ultra Mix’s team absolutely MADE our wedding reception! I don’t say that lightly. Matt was with me every step of the way, making sure our music tastes and preferences were reflected. He worked with my budget and delivered CO2 jets and non-flammable sparklers that exceeded my wildest expectations. We felt like celebrities. They gave my event 120%, making sure my reception ran smoothly.
If you’re looking for an experienced, COOL wedding DJ, seriously look no further. And word to the wise, book them now before they’re famous. Thank you Matt and team for making my wedding unforgettable. -

Hands Down Best Wedding DJ
As a former dj, I was very picky on who I wanted to spin our wedding celebration. In a 1st meeting with Matt, we knew we had found our wedding dj. But he was able to provide much more than tunes and announcements- Matt and Ultra Mix Events created EXACTLY what we wanted - an experience and a night that no one will soon forget. While everyone dreams of a different wedding night, Matt and Ultra Mix gave us more than we could ever imagine. Sparks, CO2, and a LED Robot were just a few surprises we had in store, all thanks to Matt’s epic vision! From one dj to another- highly recommend Ultra Mix Events for your wedding or any event!!! -

He made our vision come to life at the reception with beautiful uplighting and effects including cold sparks, dancing on clouds, and a GOBO monogram. Matt is the best!! I was truly worried about making sure we have a good quality DJ since our past experiences with DJs at other people's wedding, have been horrible! He reassured me everything was going to be ok and it was!! We heard nothing but compliments from our guests about everything we requested for Matt, especially our entrance with the dry sparklers. No one was expecting them! We did the photo booth, sparklers and ceremony/reception and everything was top notch! We are a group of people that love to dance and the dance floor was continuously packed. Thanks Matt!! -

Ultra Mix Events did the cold sparklers at my wedding reception at the Hilton Charlotte City Center, and they were absolutely fantastic from start to finish. Matt was extremely easy to work with and his staff was able to coordinate with our vendors/hotel and follow all of our prompts for when we wanted to use them. The cold sparklers looked great and were completely safe for our wedding guests of about 500 people and hotel staff. We will definitely use Ultra Mix for our upcoming events in the future. -

We can't say enough good things about our experience with Matt and his team!! We first met Matt randomly at a bridal expo and were drawn to his modern, beautiful display. We instantly clicked over our mutual affinity for electronic dance music and talked about wanting to incorporate that into our wedding but being unsure of how that would go since every wedding we've ever been to has had the same old "wedding" music (no offense traditionalists!).
We met with a couple other highly reputable/rated//very frequently used DJ companies in the area that advertise that they have the "secret sauce" to getting everyone dancing and appealing to guests of all ages and honestly we were disappointed - they made us feel like they "knew better" and what we wanted wouldn't work and they couldn't promise us it would be great if it wasn't what they've always done and "always works." They seemed to try to appeal to us through their reputation more than anything else.
Matt assured us from the beginning that not only could we have what we wanted, but that he could create an atmosphere that everyone would enjoy without having to compromise. I would say we gave him moderate direction - some of our favorites but not necessarily "must plays", descriptions of the vibe we wanted, and some definite do not plays (so important - sorry Journey, Usher, Flo Rida, etc, Bruno Mars, etc.) - and he turned that into the PERFECT mix! The ceremony entrance music was seamless, everyone loved the music playing before the ceremony, the sound quality was great (highly recommend a mic stand with a wireless mic for the ceremony as opposed to the lapel mic), the cocktail hour and dinner music was so fun we literally could not wait to start dancing afterwards - and then we had an EPIC dance party!!!
We didn't specify exact songs we needed to hear but somehow he knew exactly what to play - there is an embarrassing amount of pictures of me/us cheering when we heard certain songs playing and literally screaming the lyrics. We only played super current songs and various genres of EDM and EVERYONE loved it! We were so worried that people wouldn't get into it but everyone had such a blast and it is so evident in our pictures. Several people told us it was the most fun wedding they have ever been to and asked us for our playlist, and even my mother and aunts from South Korea who NEVER dance in public were on the dance floor all night!
Matt was everything we could have wanted and more. Reliable, so responsive - literally replying instantly to random facebook messages I would send when I would hear a new cool song I wanted to mention - and so professional as an emcee for our evening, rather than being cheesy, overbearing, and intrusive (you know the type...). The last thing I will say is that we didn't give much thought at all to lighting and the impact it would have. We gave Matt and his lighting tech literally zero direction - and it actually made such a difference! Our venue was The Oaks at Salem which is tented and outdoors, and the lighting created this beautiful, intimate ambiance during dinner and such a fun party vibe during our dance party. I really recommend that you go for it!
Choose Ultra Mix - you will get exactly what you want and you will have so much on your big day! We had a blast, and made a friend in Matt through the process. -

Matt is amazing. He not only accommodated my specific requests (i.e. song requests from family members) but seamlessly incorporated them into more modern music as well. Can I just say it’s not easy to make NC beach music, Motown, 70’s pop and rock as well as pop music and hip hop go together. THIS GUY DID IT. He was a pleasure to work with and everyone we’ve spoken to has mentioned how much fun they had on the dance floor. Added bonus- we had quite a few teens and children and I am SO THANKFUL we did the photo booth option he has. Something for everyone! Thank you, Matt!! -

They provided my husband and I a "wedding planner" which detailed all of the songs for each section of our ceremony plus specific genres, songs to be played at the reception. He was always quick to respond to my emails, and they also provided a photo booth included with the package we chose. It is a priceless gift that we have to remember our amazing day! They had wireless microphones for our officiant during the ceremony, and they had every detail covered! They are worth every penny and I wouldn't have wanted any other DJ at our wedding.

I was hesitant at first as I had not known anyone who had used him before. However I reached out to him & quickly knew that he was perfect for our wedding after messaging him about ideas!
I was not only looking for a DJ but for someone who could also help transform our venue space to represent our ideal vision! Matt along with one of his partners Mike did just that! They did everything I asked for plus more! They put up white pipe & drapes along with twinkle lights & pink up lights around the entire room to give it a soft & romantic feel for the ceremony space! It was BEAUTIFUL!!! Just what I had visioned & explained to them I wanted!
They also did the uplighting for our reception space & Matts DJ set up was so nice!! They ALSO provided a photo booth which included fun props & a photo album that Mike helped put together with the 2nd copy of each photo that was taken!!
Matt went above & beyond as our DJ for the night! He played every one of our requested songs! He was so organized & on top of everything from ceremony to our entrance announcements , first dances & games!! And to top it off at the end of the night when we were having a blast on the dance floor he kept going. Past our allotted time we had him for! No complaints!!
I cannot express how happy we are that we found & had Matt for our big day! Everything was just perfect & we owe a big part of that to both Matt & Mike!!! What a great team!! If your looking for a DJ to do it all.. Ultra Mix Events is it!!!! -

I was very particular about what ceremony music we wanted and how we wanted it and he pulled it off perfectly! He did an awesome job playing music we wanted at the reception while mixing in other songs that the whole crowd loved! He was very professional and kind throughout the whole planning time! Summery (full story below):
DJ was swapped out last minute, and was not professional
Played the wrong FIRST dance song, and many others that were carefully planned.
Sound system was not tested prior to my group arriving, and there were sound issues that caused crackling during any song with base.
HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED
We hired Ultra Mix Events for our wedding last June (2019). I waited to write this review to ensure I thought through my feedback thoroughly, and a year later it is still on my mind.
When I think of our wedding day I think about how perfect it was EXCEPT for our DJ experience. We hired Matt, based on his strong reviews and were very excited to have him DJ our wedding. We prepared a very thoughtful list of songs and the timeline.
The week before our wedding, Matt informed us he had another commitment and was going to switch us to a different DJ. I was not thrilled, but understood things happen. I asked Matt to give us confidence he was still providing a great DJ. He said this guy was great.
In short, the DJ showed up to our prep meeting unprepared and on the day of my wedding the system had not been tested (resulting in the sound being really bad and crackling during any base), he played the wrong song on multiple occasions including OUR FIRST DANCE! He was not engaging with our group and did not present himself as a true professional.
We could not be more disappointed in Matt's decision to swap us out so close to the wedding and not provide a proven resource as a replacement. I hope for Matt this was a rare happening and not reflective of the true value he brings to the industry. While we cannot go back in time and fix the disaster that was our DJ experience, Matt can learn from this to keep his commitments and provide the level of service his customers expect and are paying a premium for....on one of the most special days in their life.
