If you're a Richmond native, or new to the area, having a taste of Ukrops at your wedding is a must have. We decided to go with an 8'' round cake since it was just myself, my husband, and our parents eating a slice. Growing up in RVA, I of course knew what the cake was going to taste like and it did not disappoint. Ukrops made the decision very easy with a tasting where we tried all of their cake options and were given samples to take home!

Absolutely Perfect!!

Our cake was gorgeous and DELICIOUS!!! All the guests loved our cake and also the Ukrops cupcakes that accompanied them! We were so pleased and would highly recommend Ukrops for any weddings or events!!

Nothing easier than working with Ukrop's

While I'm sure Ukrop's catering is always a dream to work with, they made purchasing my wedding cake as easy as ordering online, confirming via email, and having the cake ready for delivery right on time - without any "wedding" markup.

My husband and I were planning our wedding long distance and the cake search was proving to be difficult. They were very expensive and people didn't want to do consultations over the phone. Terri understood and was amazing to work with! Our cake was so beautiful and affordable and DELICIOUS! Highly recommend!

Called Terri at the last minute when my other cake fell through. Great price, super flexible. I had selected and paid for a cake all within a few minutes. Cake was delicious!

The cake was beautiful and was delivered in a timely manner. The tasting was great and we were able to decide what we did and didn't like. During the tasting, we were given many different ideas and were able to see what a cake would look like with different designs. The cake was delicious and everyone seemed to enjoy it. I would highly recommend Ukrop's bakery for wedding cakes. The price was right for the product we received and we were very pleased with the outcome.

YUM! Our cake process was the easier than I could have ever imagined. Growing up on Ukrops cake I new I wanted Martins Bakery right away! They were also highly recommended by our venue. The price savings over cake bakers in the area is unbelievable! We got our custom cake with several different flavors all under budget. It was delicious AND beautiful which is so important for brides to be!

We purchased a two-tier cake from Martin's/Ukrops and it was delicious!! The prices were fair, it was ready on time, the employees were fantastic and we could not have been happier. We even ate the cake for breakfast the next morning in the hotel room! Highly recommend!

After tasting various samples of wedding cake from a complimentary tasting box, we chose our flavor,and discussed our cake design with the bakery rep.in Williamsburg. It was exactly as we hoped and the almond flavor was delightful, Very reasonably priced!

When I first went to Ukrops in Laburnum, I was told by a salesperson that I could only get a certain style cake with a certain style of icing and flavors. Luckily, my wedding coordinator was able to get in touch with Sherry Smith and she was able to get us exactly the style we were looking for with our choices of icing and flavors. Our wedding cake turned out elegant and perfect!
Sherry also did our flower arrangements and they were so beautiful. I would highly recommend her and her team at Ukrops/Martins.

Sherry Smith at Ukrops assited me the whole way. She was great from the start at the cake tasting to the delivery confirmation. She even gave me additional ideas for the design of the cake. We also got our groom's cake through Ukrops and they made sure it was a hand-drawn UVA logo that looked great.

My wedding cake was absolutely beautiful. It was delicious also. Ukrops was very flexible and allowed me to pick my cake up early when I had to rearrange my schedule. I definatley recommend them.

I was very pleased with my wedding cake. I went into the local Ukrops in fredericskburg, and ordered through them. Imade it my own by taking different parts of thier cakes and designing my own. I had pink orchids that were exeptionally beautiful!The lady was very nice and it was so easy to do. I thought it was a delicious cake and very nice for the price. I would reccomend them 100%!!!!!!!!!!

They were very kind to me and gave me what I wanted. They responded very well for the time frame for me. My husband and I had to get married at a moment's notice because he was being deployed. Ukrop's did very well and I recommend to anyone and everyone!

An easy option for Richmond wedding cakes

We chose Ukrop’s for our wedding cake, and it was a great experience overall. The onsite tasting was enjoyable, and they offered plenty of options for cake flavors and styles. It took a few tries to settle on the exact design we wanted, but Ukrop’s provided a helpful Pinterest board with many designs to consider.
The cakes tasted great, and they were able to provide a larger sheet cake for serving alongside the main wedding cake, which was convenient and budget-friendly. Ukrop’s is a straightforward, cost-effective option for anyone looking for a wedding cake in Richmond.

Cake was delicious! We ordered white almond poundcake with a very tasty buttercream. The cake tasting was enjoyable with big slices! So big we got to take some home and enjoy later. Decoration/borders were well done and delivery and setup was on time. We wanted it delivered around 2 but it had to be delivered at 12:30. The venue was very accommodating.

First of all, the cake was delicious!! I am not always the biggest fan of fondant but Ukrop's bakery has found a way to make it very tasty! Even so, you are unfortunately still paying the price for fondant. Cakes can get pricy and they are all pretty competitive so this was one of the areas we splurged in. I must say, we paid for our wedding ourselves though so money was of the essence. Overall, very happy!

The cake we received was very yummy. It was also beautiful and exceeded our expectations, since I did not have enough time to order a custom wedding cake and was just expecting a standard sheet cake; the decorations they used looked very nice. The bakery employee was very helpful as well.

The cake was delicious and designed perfectly to my specifications. They were very flexible and allowed me to submit my own design. Everyone raved about the cake and wondered who I had make it! Not a piece was left over (except for the top tier, which we saved of course - and it was still good out of the freezer on our first anniversary!)

The cake consultant really takes the time to understand what you want and like. She is willing to take the time to make the details exactly to what is wanted. She is very friendly and by far exceeded my expectations. Our cake was beautiful and tasted wonderful. It's not often that wedding cakes are delicious. We got the Milano Almond European Style cake with Apricot filling. We also ordered a Groom's cake.

Ukrops did an excellent job with my cake. They took a lot of time going through all of the options and thoroughly discussing pros and cons of each choice. They went out of their way to make sure the cake was delivered on time - even though it was slightly out of their range.

Ukrop's has great prices and the cake tastes delicious. The frosting on my cake wasn't quite as white as I had wanted, but it was still pretty and tasty. We enjoyed it!

We got a 3-tier chocolate velvet pound cake with buttercream icing and LOVED it. We paid additional for delivery, but it's worth not having to worry about replacing a cake at the last minute. My mom took the left over and froze it while we were on our honeymoon, we came back and thawed it out after a few weeks and it still tasted like it did on our wedding night. We're saving the top tier in the freezer for our 1 yr. anniversary and I have faith that it'll STILL be delicious! Bravo, Ukrop's!

Ukrops provided the cake for our wedding! I was born and raised in Richmond so having a Ukrops cake was the only cake I wanted! The cake was beautiful, exactly what we agreed on, and absolutely delicious. Things Ukrops can improve on: the tasting was a little bit of a let down (in a small room, poorly displayed, and some the staff had some confusion) and the email communication was slow. However we are very happy with our wedding cake!

My review for Ukrops is somewhat mixed for a few reasons. The initial meeting and arrangements with Terri Joyce were perfect. The tasting went really well, and everything went smoothly. We picked out our cake, got all the colors and designs we wanted, and were all set. Then... when Martin's made our cake, they forgot to add the support layer for the top tier. And, while the delivery driver saw the top layer start to tip, he hurried back to his van and took off. We were unable to actually put our cake together for our wedding. When I called Terri about this problem, she was very responsive and very apologetic. I highly recommend her- but I definitely have reservations about the Martin's store that did the baking and the delivery. I suggest making sure your cake is good to go before the delivery driver takes off.

EDIT: So I just was contacted by Ukrops and they are refunding the entire amount of the cake. I was not expecting anything close to that- which suggests this is a VERY rare occurrence for them and something they are very upset about. With that in mind, I retract my lower review and give them higher marks for "making it right."

I used Ukrops for my wedding cake and cupcakes. Both were delivered and set up beautifully on my wedding day--and they were equally delicious (and I think their pricing is very competitive)! However, the ordering process was a bit tedious and it was hard to get in touch with the bakery (I had to make multiple attempts at various points in the ordering process and wasn't sure if my order was actually going to show up on the day). It wasn't a very reassuring experience, but everything did work out perfectly.

Ukrops Pound Cake is a family tradition so there was no competition when deciding on a cake vendor. The consultation was difficult to put together because they only take appointments during limited hours, M-F. We found it difficult to generate ideas with our consultant as we were trying to balance size and cost.
On the day however, the cake was BEAUTIFUL and delicious. We had to pick up the cake the day before for a Sunday wedding (Ukrops is closed on Sundays) but it was still well packaged and fresh by the time we took it out of the box Sunday evening. Defininitely a good choice if you are willing to be persistant in your needs.

Let me begin by saying that my family will come up with any excuse to eat a Ukrops cake so when it came to picking someone for my wedding cake there was only one option. My cake ended up being absolutely delicious and it was the perfect shade of purple but I did run into some problems.

When Inhad originally met with Terri she had done a drawing of my cake. It was supposed to be three tiers of square cake with each tier being a decent height. The cake I ended up with was much flatter and shorter than the one in the drawing. The tiers were only about 2 inches tall - almost as if they had been squashed. I had also requested that an anchor and paw print be drawn on the cake (to represent my husband and I) and they ended up being so small it was hard to find amongst the scrollwork.

In addition to my wedding cake I had also ordered a birthday cake for my grandfather. The design on the cake that was delivered was different than the one we had agreed on. Overall the cake was delicious but there were several promises that the bakery fell short on which was disappointing.
