SBR Event Catering is absolute perfection! We used them for our May 2026 wedding at Lincoln Farmstead, and they exceeded every expectation while remaining incredibly reasonable in price.
I worked closely with Meghann Streicher to build our entire wedding day plan. She helped coordinate our timeline, cocktail hour, drinks, dinner, and dessert. Throughout months of planning, Meghann and her team were responsive, encouraging, and full of great ideas—without ever being pushy when we were indecisive.
On the big day, our event director, Nate, was an absolute superstar. His calm presence instantly put us at ease. He is a true professional who kept everything running flawlessly. I loved that his staff quietly visited each table to dismiss guests for the buffet. This kept the atmosphere intimate and didn't interrupt the dinner music from our DJ (Windy City Sound).
The food was spectacular—delicious, perfectly cooked, and served at the ideal temperature. Our guests raved about it! SBR was incredibly thoughtful with the details. They provided kids' meals with fruit cut into cute shapes, and they even reminded us to order vendor meals (which I had totally forgotten). One guest required a dairy-free meal and told us it was one of the best meals she had ever eaten, gushing over how attentive the staff was.
As a full-service company, they truly handle everything. At the end of the night, they teamed up with the venue staff to box up leftovers, clear tables, and clean. I expected to help, but they had it completely covered and sent us on our way. Save yourself the stress and hire SBR!

The team at True Cuisine was absolutely fabulous to work with from the very beginning! From our first interactions through the wedding day, the team was professional, communicative, and wonderful partners throughout the planning process.
Our tasting was such a great experience and made everyone feel included — especially our parents, who loved being part of it. The True Cuisine team was also incredibly accommodating and helpful when it came to navigating dietary restrictions, which gave us so much peace of mind leading up to the wedding.
On the wedding day, the service was truly top notch. The staff took amazing care of both us at the sweetheart table and all of our guests throughout the evening. And the food itself was absolutely to die for! We served the Texas beef brisket, pan-seared airline chicken, and wild mushroom rigatoni, and guests are still texting us saying it was the best wedding food they’ve ever had.
We could not recommend True Cuisine more highly for anyone looking for incredible food and an exceptional catering team! -

I cannot explain enough how amazing TrueCuisine is for weddings. They were our caterer for our wedding on 04/10/2026. Their food options are exceptional and taste amazing. It is nothing like other wedding food; it tastes completely homemade. Their communication was professional and timely as well. I would recommend TrueCuisine for anyone in the Chicagoland area if you want your guests walking away saying "It was the best food we have had at a wedding". -

True Cuisine made our New Year’s wedding so special!
We had an amazing experience working with the team at True Cuisine for our wedding. Lauren and Jacob were an absolute joy to work with and truly brought our wedding menu to life. We had such a lovely time at our tasting with Lauren and our families, and it made us even more excited for the big day.
During our wedding walkthrough, they were incredibly thorough—making sure inventory was up to date and that every detail was accounted for, from the dinner table setup to smaller touches like our place card table. They also worked closely with us to accommodate family allergies and ensured the entire menu was free of peanuts and tree nuts, which gave us great peace of mind.
We’re still getting compliments on the food, and we’re so grateful we got to work with the True Cuisine team to make our wedding day so special. -

One of our priorities in planning our wedding was the food/cuisine. We wanted food that our guests would enjoy, remember, and rave about. The True Cuisine/SBR team more than exceeded in doing that. There is not an item on their menu that was not delicious (which made picking our menu so difficult)! Our whole process working with the team was amazing - it was smooth, painless, and removed a lot of the stress of wedding planning.
We initially found True Cuisine through our venue (The BRIX on the Fox). True Cuisine/SBR host weddings at they BRIX almost every weekend and are truly a well-oiled machine their. They executed the day flawlessly and were so professional, kind, and on top of everything. The timing was impeccable and our guests did not go hungry through the event. They even especially catered to our guests with allergies/dietary preferences (since we did buffet style) and made sure those guests had individual plates made for them.
We truly had a great experience with this team - from the tasting, to the coordination/planning, to the day of. We would recommend them to all couples planning a wedding and in need of catering. Thank you True Cuisine! We are so grateful to you! -

We had such a wonderful experience with True Cuisine. The tasting felt private and personalized, and they went above and beyond by creating a custom dish for us that ended up being one of our favorites. On the wedding day, everything was just as delicious as we remembered from the tasting, and our guests couldn’t stop raving about the food. The team was so easy to communicate with throughout the process, and I truly felt taken care of from start to finish. When we started planning our wedding, we had a BBQ caterer in mind, but the venue we chose had a list of vendors we had to choose from. We saw Sweet Baby Rays/True Cuisine on the list so we went to the restaurant, tried the food, and decided to give them a shot. I'm so glad we did, as they exceeded our expectations! From the beginning, everyone we worked with was very helpful, accommodating, and got back to us quickly with answers to any questions we asked. We chose to go without a wedding planner and figure out everything ourselves, and the True Cuisine team was very helpful on the day of, setting up our centerpieces and favors and giving us guidance where we needed it. The food was outstanding! We got so many compliments from our guests! All of the staff did an excellent job and everyone we talked to was very friendly. The services they provided were set up/tear down/clean up of the reception, provided all food, dessert table, late night snack, and full bar. I'm so glad we went with SBR/True Cuisine and I couldn't recommend them more for your special day! -

We used True Cuisine for our February 2025 wedding. We originally met with them since they were one of our venues preferred caterers, but they were so incredible we would have chosen them anyways! We had excellent communication throughout the whole process from everyone we worked with, and they helped us customize our package to be exactly what we needed. The staff with us day-of were detailed oriented and made the reception run so smoothly. Of course, the food was also delicious! We had many guests tell us how good it was, and that they went up for seconds. -

Our wedding was on 3/9/24 this year. We had the pleasure of working with True Cuisine catering service, and I must say, they exceeded all expectations. True Cuisine came to our rescue just few weeks before our ceremony after our previous vendor canceled last minute. Despite the short notice, their staff was incredibly accommodating and professional.
Now, let's talk about the food - it was simply amazing! The steak and salmon were cooked to perfection, and the flavors were exceptional. True Cuisine also offers a selection of beautiful silverware, adding an elegant touch to our event.
I cannot say enough about Meghann, who was a delight to work with. Her attention to detail and dedication to ensuring everything went smoothly were truly appreciated. Luiz was also the star of the day leading and coordinating the team. Overall, I highly recommend True Cuisine catering service - they saved the day and made our event unforgettable! -

True Cuisine was absolutely amazing! Going into planning our wedding we were prepared to need to settle on the food, but we were greatly mistaken! Our friends and family are still raving about how good the food was. From inventive apps, to delicious mains - the food was SO good. The team was also incredible during the planning process - you can tell that they are true experts and love the work they do. It is also important to note how transparent they are with their pricing, this really set them apart from competitors and it is something that we greatly appreciated!

True Cuisine was exactly what we were looking for in a wedding vendor and caterer – easy to work with, communicative, understanding, and tasty! From the very beginning, we felt comfortable with True Cuisine. Whether it was the tasting, final menu selection, or last-minute edits, they were perfect partners. Not only was True Cuisine extremely budget-friendly, but the quality of the food was incredible. Most people think you have to break the bank in order to have great food, but True Cuisine proved that to not be the case (we’re still thinking about the pancetta stuffed chicken breast we ate). Going into the wedding, we did not think our food was going to be one of the highlights of it, as we have been to other weddings where the food was just a stopgap between the ceremony and the dancing. BUT, True Cuisine ensured that our food was delicious and something to
be remembered. We were pleasantly surprised when multiple guests came up to us and complimented/raved about the food!
True Cuisine flawlessly executed the releasing of tables to the buffet, the desserts, and late-night snacks. They also accommodated to our guests’ dietary restrictions and ensured that everyone had plenty of food. On top of that, they made sure we had appetizers right after the ceremony in our bridal suite, and that we were taken care of at the sweetheart table. We’ll be recommending True Cuisine to anyone getting married in the future.
If you’re looking for delicious food that is cost-friendly and a vendor who is great to work with, then you need to hire True Cuisine for your wedding! A very special shoutout to Sara Claire and Lauren for being so wonderful to work with throughout our wedding planning journey! -

We used true cuisine for our wedding and are so happy with our experience! They have a variety of options and the food is so delicious! We received so many compliments on the food and quick service. We were nervous having a buffet with such a large group (180
Guests) but everyone was fed in 20-25 minutes! Sue, the event director, and the entire staff was so helpful and wonderful to work with. They even saved my wedding cake because I didn’t get a chance to try it! We loved working with them and definitely would again in the future! -

AMAZING all around!
We had the best experience with True Cuisine & Sweet Baby Rays! Not only is their food DELICIOUS, but their presentation, organization, and friendly staff gave us the cherry on top for our wedding day! Worth every penny. We went with appetizers, buffet style, and late night bites! The presentation was classy, and our guest went up for seconds and thirds! lol
Sue was our day of coordinator, she is truly the most sweet and attentive person ever! Went above and beyond for us and our families. We saw her at a friends wedding months later, and we had to say hi!
Its been over 3 months since our wedding and we are still receiving compliments on how awesome our food was! -

We selected True Cuisine from a list of preferred vendors from our venue. We are so glad we went with them! They had the best selection of food and our experience working with their staff has been phenomenal. Meghann was wonderful from the start and coordinated a fun and involved tasting for us before we booked. This was one of my favorite parts of the wedding planning process as she had multiple options for us to try and had my selected linen colors available so I could see it in person. Since they are a part of Sweet Baby Ray's we also got free bottles of BBQ sauce - so memorable! Throughout the entire planning process Meghann was very responsive and accommodated any changes super quickly. When it came closer to the day of, Meghann and her team were incredibly helpful with finalizing all of the details which was so important to me as a type A planner. Our wedding also landed in the middle of the COVID-19 Omicron variant, which meant we had A LOT of last minute shifts and changes. Meghann and the company worked with us to pivot and were so flexible and accommodating. I could not believe how amazing and supportive they were during one of the most challenging parts of planning. On the day of, the entire staff executed my vision perfectly. Everything was placed exactly as instructed and the staff went above and beyond on service. We had a private dinner planned while the guests had a cocktail hour and we had multiple people come bring us food, drinks and to check on us. Luis the day of event director was so great to work with, made sure everything was running smoothly, and responded to every additional request. As someone with high expectations of service, I was truly impressed and cannot recommend them enough. -

Meghan and her team were phenomenal! From the tasting, to my million questions and changes to the final show on our wedding day. The food was delicious and our guests said it was the best they have ever had. The appetizers were perfect, the buffet was beyond gorgeous and not just your normal table and warming trays set up. I loved working with the True Cuisine team for my wedding. They were super flexible and accommodating for all of my requests. We did fun interactive food stations and our guests raved about the delicious options they had to choose from. They know that the bride/groom have a hard time eating that day so they were so kind to bring us some of the appetizers to the bridal suite during cocktail hour -- great touch. They were so organized during the whole planning process and it really ended up being perfect day of. My only complaint is that I wish I was able to eat more of the dinner! -

We loved all our wedding vendors, but True Cuisine truly made our wedding everything we had dreamed about. We worked with Lauren who was THE BEST from day 1. She was super fast in responding to all of my emails and questions, helped us pick and choose food/linens/silverware/etc. While staying within budget. At The Grove, we had a list of caterers to choose from and True Cuisine wasn’t the least expensive or most expensive of my options, they were right in the middle. But, out of all my options, they were the most responsive and the food at their tastings was just amazing. I feel like we were treated like royalty not just on our day, but throughout the months of planning.
The days leading up to the wedding/day of, Lauren and her team were very prepared and made sure we had everything we needed. They worked with my coordinator to set up/decorate and it all looked beautiful. The venue is so small and we had a big guest list but Lauren assured me they would make it work and they definitely did. Luis made sure we had apps and drinks in the bridal suite after the ceremony. During the reception, dinner was brought out quickly and we had someone dedicated to the sweetheart and parent VIP tables to make sure everyone always had a full glass. Guests are still raving about the delicious dinner, the entertaining bartender (I needed a Spanish speaker b/c half my family doesn’t speak English and he was awesome!!), the tomato soup shooters, and the burgers we had for late night snacks. Honestly, true cuisine was the best choice we could have made for our wedding. I’d use them again for any future event in a heartbeat. -

We just had our wedding catered by True Cuisine and I cannot recommend them highly enough. We worked with Meghann, who is a straight-up life saver, especially since we were planning from 2,000 miles away. She was invaluable during the planning process, and the catering staff on the day of was superb. The food was great, they were incredibly gracious and helpful, and they even let us customize some menu options to include traditional family favorites. 11/10 would recommend! -

Lauren and True Cuisine were incredible to work with! Being an out of town Bride (living in Denver with our wedding in Chicago) Lauren and her team made it incredibly easy to communicate with and plan our wedding. Everything from our menu tasting to the timeline to the day-of details was perfect. As someone with severe food allergies, Lauren and her team made sure that I could actually eat the food and it still tasted good for our guests. I am so appreciative of all the small details they put into making sure our day was perfect and up to our expectations. Even coordinating with our vendors was incredibly helpful and appreciative. They even helped us set out our late night snack from another catering company. We highly recommend True Catering and their incredibly dedicated staff! -

We chose True Cuisine from 6 preferred caterers our venue partnered with. We were looking for food that both our families would enjoy. We ended up going with a "station" style option where guests got up to get food from different themed stations. This was decently budget friendly, allowed us to provide a nice variety of choices, and our guests LOVED it.
Aside from the food, we felt very well taken care of by the catering staff. They set up and took down a lot of the decor things we brought (along with our wedding planner), and someone was always checking on us to make sure we had enough to eat and drink. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating, we really felt like we were in good hands, which we were not expecting from our caterer! -

We used Sweet Baby Rays for our backyard wedding. These guys were AMAZING! Besides the fact that the food was delicious, the service was amazing!
Everybody that came to help with Sweet Baby Rays, was amazing! The chefs were awesome! The servers were attentive and great! The event director made sure everything went smoothly. The bartender was amazing! The whole wedding was perfect, and I contribute most of that to who we chose to cater it!!!! I literally can’t recommend them enough! -

- Extremely communicative - email and phone call response times within a few hours.
- Very flexible - let us make lots of little changes and worked with our budget.
- Day of - on time, setup perfectly, helpful and friendly staff.
- Taste - our food was freaking amazing! People are still raving about it.

True Cuisine catered our wedding at the Danada House in August 2018. We called most of the caterers on their preferred vendor list to ask questions and our introductory phone call with them lasted close to 45 minutes. During this time, they made many suggestions to us based on experience and also were able to answer every single question we had at the time. Because of their thoroughness and attention to detail, we went with True Cuisine to cater our wedding. A bonus was that they brought an oven to the venue since Danada House doesn't have a kitchen (we wanted to make sure our guests got their food hot) and they utilize fresh and local ingredients. They helped us every step of the way leading up to the wedding, making friendly suggestions along the way and taking care of everything they could for us. They answered our emails in a timely manner and were so patient and helpful. On our wedding day, our guests (and us of course) LOVED the food, including both the hors d'oeuvres served during cocktail hour and the plated dishes served for dinner. Plates were going back to the kitchen empty and our guests and family have told us how good the food was. They had one of their staff follow us around to make sure we ate hors d'oeuvres during the photo session after the ceremony. The bar staff were also consistently serving drinks to all of our guests throughout the wedding reception. We would definitely recommend True Cuisine for wedding catering. They were truly amazing and professional. We had no complaints and neither did our guests. -

My now husband and I were absolutely blown away by the quality and endless options True Cuisine offered us. Because they're one of the very few vendors that make all of their meals completely on site, their ability to customize and accommodate dietary restrictions and preferences allowed us to serve everyone what they really wanted! When there was some confusion with the meal markers, they quickly accommodated anyone that was expecting a different meal - just another perk of cooking completely on site! Working with them was so much fun; they allowed us 2 tastings to confirm our menu was exactly what we wanted, and they were very open to us modifying menu options to include our favorite sides and flavors. They really made our foodie dreams come true! -

The overall running theme of everything we heard after our wedding, was "best food ever!". Everyone RAVED about the alabama white chicken we had and how smoothly the night went!
True Cuisine worked closely with our venue (The Brix on the Fox) and the night couldn't have run any smoother! Meghan was a great contact to have and she made the whole experience from tasting, menu planning, and making sure we stayed within our budget easy! She worked so easily with our planner throughout and easily responded to all our emails as well. I was hesitant about a buffet, but everyone raved about the food and everyone got through in what seemed like minutes! It was a beautiful display and they helped turn the rooms during each change and made sure our desserts and late night snacks were out and ready! It was a great night, and True Cuisine and all their staff were wonderful! -

My husband and I had our wedding at Room 1520 in Chicago, IL for 115 people. True Cuisine was one of the approved caterers we could use at that venue. I (the Bride) have a full 8.5x11 sheet of food allergies and intolerances including gluten and am very difficult to feed in a shared kitchen. We were very lucky our chef Mike has a personal commitment to food safety as he has family members that have food allergies. He and his staff did his best he could to keep me and my guests with food issues safe. Our tasting at the True Cuisine space was perfect. Sara Claire took excellent care of us in the tasting and planning process! We decided to have a fully gluten free wedding to keep me safe. On the day of the wedding, everyone who was able to eat the food raved about how delicious it was and said it was the best wedding food they had ever had. I have only one friend that attended with severe dairy and peanut allergies who was not able to eat her meal due to confusion in the kitchen. The kitchen also served me (the Bride) the wrong salad and main dish initially. They corrected these errors quickly for me. Sadly, I had an anaphylactic reaction at the end of the wedding reception from our late night snack: chips and dip. We were not able to fully determine what allergen I reacted as all recipes were the same as our tasting. My allergist and I believe as the chips were made fresh, that the mobile fryer may have had some of my known allergens in it from previous use. As said previously, it is difficult to feed me from a shared kitchen but True Cuisine did the best they could. My husband and I are glad our guests enjoyed the food and I am ok! We recommend them if you do not have as many allergies as I do! -

We used Sweet Baby Ray’s for our catering and bartending services for our June 2019 wedding at the Redfield Estate. The food catering service was fantastic, but the bartending services left something to be desired, and that is the reason for only 4 stars.

In particular, the airline chicken with white BBQ sauce (do yourself a favor and try the white BBQ sauce) was sooooo good, even better than at our tasting, but every dish was fantastic. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had a plate full of everything at the start of the dinner. Most importantly, our contact, Lauren Winkler, was incredible to work with. She was so prompt and thorough in all of her responses. She ended up on my phone’s most frequent contact lists, right alongside my husband and immediate family, she was that integral to planning! I cannot recommend her highly enough. She worked with us through myriad edits to our menu and contract, helped us optimize our budget, and helped accommodate us bringing some of our own desserts.
My only word of advice for other couples would be to make sure you know exactly what you’re getting when it comes to dessert, since they might not be included in your tasting. We decided on mini pies for dessert, but didn’t get to try them at the tasting, and I was a bit disappointed with how small they turned out. I heard only excellent reviews about them, but didn’t get to try one myself because I think several guests were taking 2 or 3!
Bartending:
I felt like the communication from the bartending team was a bit lacking in general – it was always secondary to the conversation about food. For example, we asked them twice to review the signature drink menu graphics we had created, but never got any feedback. They also told us just a month beforehand that they recommended adding an extra bartender to our contractor, which I agree was needed, but I'm not sure why they didn't catch that sooner. On the day of the wedding, there were also a couple mistakes made. First off, the flower garnishes for one of our signature cocktails had gone brown from being stored at the wrong temperature. Not a huge deal, but it’s something I think they should have known how to do correctly.
The bigger problem came about in part because we were purchased our alcohol separately from a liquor store. Hindsight is 20/20, but I realize now that everything would have gone much more smoothly if SBR had communicated directly with the liquor store. I don't know how this would have worked, or how much more it would have cost (the reason we purchased the liquor ourselves was that we were under the impression it was much cheaper that way, but I don't actually know). So I was acting as a go-between, sending our signature drink recipes to the liquor store and then sending their alcohol suggestions back to SBR to review. One of our drinks was originally intended to have “demi sec sparkling wine.” When I gave that recipe to the liquor store, they suggested a “champagne” (a cheap California champagne, not an actual French one) that was basically a demi sec sparkling wine with a different label. I sent this to SBR to review, and they did not take any issue. On the day of the wedding, this was the first drink I ordered, expecting to get a refreshing bubbly cocktail, and it came back flat. They were using pinot grigio instead of the sparkling wine, and had been doing that for the entire cocktail hour – it seems that they had been thrown off by the name on the bottle, even though I had sent them that info beforehand. I think a lot more guests would have liked this drink if they had been making it correctly, so it was definitely a disappointment. Overall, I would certainly still recommend SBR because the food and service were wonderful, but I would recommend being very proactive with the bartending team to make sure they are on the same page as you.

We enjoyed our lead vendor as they are one of the most important people for the day. Although aside from the food it was far from easy and professional. While it is challenging for everyone durning covid-19 we still have to understand everyone feelings and respond to there hearts durning this time. Meghan was not in communication with us throughout the process. She was great at the beginning although many things changed and was so far from organized. We paid a large sum up front and when are wedding was called off, she was not willing to give us any money back. Seemed strange since we didn’t have a new date? Thankful with the changes in some directions of covid -19 we were able to have our wedding. Our wedding was passed to different manager, emails were sent not copying the bride, we would make changes on items and they wouldn’t get changed. And somehow we started it with 225 guest. And our invoice didn’t change at all. It remained the same with 100 guest, make no sense. Also she goes back on her word of what she committed too. On the day of our wedding she told us one of our side she thinks is incorrect. Telling the bride and groom right before our wedding was about to start. As well as special requests I made for our dinner salad she said that durning Covid they don’t have those items although, when we spoke two weeks prior it was no problem. The seating chart still was never correct because her communication was not clear as to what she truly needed. When booking true cuisine know you will get great food. Although the customer service is not well. And Meghan only responds to who she wants to when she want to. This was one of there first wedding since March and she sure wasn’t ready at all. I even gave each vendor little gifts no thank you. I messaged her about leaving her binder with all her future notes for brides and thermometer with my wedding stuff. I have yet to hear back from her. Lastly no post, pictures or follow up was done about our wedding. Which is extremely sad, you should be thankful, happy and part of an partnership family working together. Instead Meghan was selective of who she wanted to deal with and because we were not over all happy, she shunned our wedding out. A lot of left plates on the table, no one checked on us to see how everything was going throughout the wedding and at no point of the day did she thank us for our business. I was happy with the food although the management team was very unfortunate. -
