Super Fun and Professional DJ!!

Rian was a superb DJ and had the crowd rockin' all weekend. Very reasonable price for driving across the state for our destination wedding. He was everywhere he needed to be on time and kept the party going. We developed a playlist for him to integrate over the course of the weekend and he hit all the marks. His own music taste was very in line with our own, and he was able to seamlessly integrate music for every mood. The other really important aspect was he audio equipment skills. We had people speaking constantly, singing songs, doing little performances, and everyone could hear them with no feedback. This was something we were a little stressed about and it all went really smoothly. Rian also looks rad and dressed the themes of our wedding which was fun. I'd recomend him to any friend or family member getting married or having an event.

Amazing Wedding DJ - and Sax!

Rian was a fantastic DJ to have at our wedding and would recommend him to any of our friends. With all the other planning we had to do, we were in good hands with Rian who required minimal guidance throughout the process.

What really set Rian apart was the ability to both DJ - playing songs we loved - but also layering in a live saxophonist on top of our favorite tracks. Many of our guests told us after the wedding that they loved our music and the saxophone was one of the highlights of the evening.

We highly recommend Rian and hope to have the opportunity to work with him again for another event in the future!

The perfect addition...

We met them at a wedding expo and were immediately excited about hiring them. Rian is easy going, flexible, and wanting to provide your exact vision. He did a great job for us and as a bonus. he had recorded some speeches we didn't have ourselves so it was such a gift. 10/10 experience.

Rian went truly above and beyond for our wedding. We hosted a party at our house the night before with some of our favorite local bands and lost our sound guy right before. Rian offered to step in and help out and did a flawless job including some DJing after the bands were done. The wedding itself was a blast. He included a solid mix of songs from our list and went with the flow of the crowd and ended up playing some 90s hits, finishing off the night with one of my all time favorite lcd soundsystem songs and one of our favorite slow songs. Totally nailed it. Thanks dude!!

Traveling Discotheque is phenomenal!

We had a great time working with Rian. We really loved Rian's passion for music. We provided a list of songs for Rian and he did a great job curating the music and his additions worked very well. His mixing was smooth and clean!

Our wedding venue was in a remote location and Rian was able to provide equipment for three separate sites with only one site being indoors with outlets.

Rian was also responsive and clear during our email correspondences prior to the wedding. He was on time and his setup occurred without a hitch.

DJ Sam rocked my forest wedding!!

DJ Sam absolutely, royally SLAYED our wedding in the Redwoods. Not only did he provide us with the most psychedelic and transcendent dance party - Beyonce and disco and 70s classic rock and 90s pop and everything in between - but he ran live sound for our wedding ceremony which was no easy task. I’m a composer and arranged a 7-piece classical chamber ensemble (including a concert harp) and he mic’d everyone up and set the sound levels PERFECTLY, including the wireless mics for us and our officiant, in the middle of the forest! PLUS, he was able to get a perfect audio and video recording of the ceremony as an extra surprise. Our wedding had 3 different locations needing sound support and Sam was absolutely seamless in his workflow and delivery. No one even noticed the immense work that went into a complex production because he was so smooth. These guys can do anything! They were able to transform an ordinary camp hall into the space disco of our dreams with their unique lighting design and disco ball. Sam read the room all night and not only managed to play our must-plays at the exact right time, but also surprised us with songs we didn’t even know we needed. His mixing was impeccable and blended styles and tvibes together that kept people on the floor all night. The music and production really made our wedding a 15/10 and I can’t emphasize enough how much Traveling Discotheque was a part of that.

Our dream DJ team!

Traveling Discoteque delivered an absolutely incredible experience for our wedding! One of the highlights was their talented live saxophone player, who added an amazing layer of energy and sophistication to the music. DJ Ryan's skill at mixing different genres was phenomenal - he seamlessly blended tracks and kept everyone engaged on the dance floor throughout the night.
What really stood out was how they created the perfect vibe for our celebration. Amazing musical experience!

We cannot recommend more highly using Traveling Discotheque for your wedding musical needs! Working with DJs Rian and Sam was a dream – starting with an initial meeting where they got to know us, our musical tastes and what aspirations we had for the musical vibe at our wedding. They are professional and knowledgeable and also just really fun and easy to get along with. We utilized their DJing along with multiple live brass instrumentalists for our ceremony and reception. They worked hard to practice songs we wanted to hear with the instrumentalists. The mood they set for the reception and after party got everyone moving – I know that we never wanted to get off the dance floor as it was so fun! Rian and Sam crafted a soundtrack to our big day that was more perfect than we could have imagined and is the backdrop to all the amazing memories we have!

Traveling Discotheque is the best

I can thoroughly recommend Traveling Discotheque! All of the music and emcee services were flawless, from pre-ceremony to the end of the night - we were taken care of.

I consider myself to be very particular about how music choice can affect the vibe of something, and going into planning my wedding I knew that DJ choice would be paramount to creating the right atmosphere that also reflects my and my bride's personality and taste.

We kept saying "This is the biggest party of our lives", and the DJ is the life of the party. I'm so glad I found Rian Souleles and Traveling Discotheque. The sample mixes on their website had a good vibe that I knew I'd enjoy at my own wedding, so I reached out.

Very promptly we had a video call, he asked me to provide some of our music tastes ahead of time and we talked through those choices and he gave me his perspective on how he guides the energy of the night. I was sold then.

My bride and I then made some sample playlists for different times of the night, and Traveling Discotheque took those and were able to excellently weave those throughout the night, as well as accentuate our playlist with additional choices to match. Transitions were smooth, energy of the crowd was managed, and we were dancing all night.

We got so many compliments from our friends about the DJ, I don't know what else to add - they're great!

Epic Wedding Vibes!

We’re so happy with our choice to work with Rian and The Traveling Discotheque! From the first zoom call we knew we had found the right fit. We didn’t know how to approach the music for our big day but Rian made it easy. We quickly established the genres and eras we wanted to center on and from there, it was as easy as creating a few playlists to highlight our favorite artists and songs. Rian ensured we covered all of the signature moments and that our must-play/must-not-play songs were accounted for. We chose to add a live sax player to our lineup (Steve Tressler!!!) and it was honestly one of the best decisions we made in our wedding planning process. Our friends and family had the BEST time and we keep hearing about their favorite saxophone moments. We let Rian and the team take the wheel for the vast majority of the setlist, but they welcomed requests (with our permission) and that led to some truly memorable moments for us—mom and dad dancing to Unchained Melody, the Texas cohort breaking out into the Boot Scootin' Boogie...we couldn't have asked for a better MC and collaborator. We couldn't recommend Rian and The Traveling Discotheque more highly!

Our favorite vendor

For our wedding, music was one of the most important considerations we made during planning. We wanted to be able to listen to music that matched our tastes, but also kept the crowd energized.

Trying to find a good DJ is a bit of a slog, and so many options have a cheesy feel. When we first listened to some of Rian's demos, we knew he was offering something different.

Leading up to the event, Rian met with us several times to answer all our questions and make sure the moments in our ceremony and reception matched exactly what we wanted.

On day of, Rian and assistant Sam helped keep us organized and the vibes right for every moment. They had us and our guests dancing until last call and last dance. If we were starting planning from scratch, we would not hesitate to hire them again!

Best Night Ever.. Hire the Traveling Discotheque for your Wedding!

We had the Traveling Discotheque for our wedding for DJ services for ceremony and celebration and couldn't recommend them enough. Rian put together an amazing string band for our cocktail hour. Our guests LOVED it! Perfect music for guests to mingle and chat, and have beautiful live entertainment as well. We got so many compliments for the weeks after our celebration. Rian really balanced the music we love with the vibe of the night- read the room and made it so fun for everyone. We have a lot of musicians in our family so finding a true musician was essential. His contract was super easy, made planning a breeze and was so professional. We were so hoping to find someone with great taste that we would conenct with-- Rian matched our style all the way and made it so fun for our guests. 100% wish we could do it all over again to relive the night. The absolute best!

Exceeded all expectations and brought our party to LIFE!

Rian and his team are absolutely phenomenal. My husband and I were drawn to his great music taste and passion for music, but were sold on him after our consultation call— he really is as cool and passionate about music as it seems!

Rian also made the entire process easy and fun! The questionnaire given before the wedding left us at ease and gave us the opportunity to share our preferences and tastes.

He captured our essence with his selection of music. After hearing the brief mention of Star Wars in our vows, he threw out a Star Wars remix during the dance party without us even asking for it. That made my husband’s night!

The moment I saw my father, who has NEVER danced in his life, sober dancing his heart out, I knew that everyone else also knew how great of a DJ/artist Rian was.

Dancing the night away to an incredible music selection, beautiful lighting, immaculate vibes, and the coolest people mixing music was a highlight of our wedding!

Our friends have not stopped talking about how fun the dancing was. I cannot recommend Rian enough, and hope to see him again at our friends’ future weddings.

Immaculate vibes and stellar beats

Traveling Discotheque was absolutely amazing, and we could not be happier to have hired them for our wedding!! The entire team brought an amazing energy and warmth to our wedding. In every conversation we had leading up to the wedding, Rian was thorough, thoughtful, and dedicated to helping us have the wedding of our dreams. Rian and Sam took the playlist we made for the reception and ran with it- the vibes were phenomenal! DJ Rian killed it

we clicked with DJ Rian immediately! He came recommended from our wedding venue. On our first call we zoom chatted for an hour and a half! cause we clicked so well. He’s genuinely a laid back guy, musicly intelligent, and knows how to read a room. he doesn’t take the spot light but stays on schedule. we loved having rian and his sidekick at our wedding. would hire again! but hopefully that doesn’t happen ;)

Disco DJ Magic

We had a memorable and positive experience with Rian as our wedding DJ. He stands out from the rest of the crowd with his unique style and personality (the 70s tuxedo helps!). Oddly enough his website, which is refreshingly quirky and interesting, made him a top option when we were DJ searching.

From our initial call, he was very fun to get to know, and while satisfyingly honest about personal tastes, is still more than happy to fulfill your vision and preferences. He also offers uplighting as an add-on, which was an absolute steal compared to what our venue was offering. We worked with him a few weeks prior to the wedding to get an abridged cut of our first dance song, and Rian thoughtfully provided us several edits to choose from.

For the reception, we created a playlist of starting suggestions, and he did a great job playing a mix of our recommended tracks with a blend of his own selections across a wide range of genres. At one point a cousin shouted from the dance floor, "How is this all music I grew up with!?!?!" amid the opening beats of Be My Lover (what a great pick, we didn't suggest it but wow, did it fit perfectly). We also come from immigrant families, and so we wanted to include some non-Western music in the mix. Rian had taken the time to dig up some classic nostalgic standards from our families' cultures and play them during cocktail hour.

Every single "must play" was played, every "do not play" was respected to a T. We danced so much, we even forgot to get dessert. He and his assistant Sam were super polite and effusive and made our wedding night fly by. Thank you guys!

Vibey DJ for the win!

Rian and team were collaborative, fun and organized! We loved bonding over playlist ideas and geeking out on music in general. We didn’t have to worry about anything technical and could just have fun!! Steve was an amazing addition on sax. Top comment from our guests was what a cool surprise that was. Best wedding dj! Hands down!

We were so lucky to find Rian and book him for our wedding. From start to finish he was kind, helpful, communicative, and professional. We had created a Spotify mix for playing during dinner and cocktail hour which he used and added to based on our conversations, and we gave him full rein outside of that because we didn't know how many people would want to dance and felt sure that he would be able to read the mood of the room/crowd. I could not believe how fun the dancing part of the evening was. It completely surpassed our expectations. Everyone had the best time and all my favorite photos are from the dance floor- it was a dream. He also helped us shorten our first dance song and perfectly orchestrated the entire event. They were able to set up speakers for both sides of the venue, provided mics and helped make the ceremony, the transitions and the toasts a breeze for everyone involved. I really can't sing his praises enough. Plus he just has great taste in music, is a genuinely nice person, and someone I would definitely hire again. We have received so many compliments on the music and vibe. For a wedding our size (60 guests) he brought a colleague named Sam and together they helped create the perfect environment for memories we will cherish for a lifetime.

The dj you want to hire!

Music is how my fiancé and I bonded and we knew that who we hired as a DJ was very important to us. From our initial meeting, I knew this is who we had to work with. He knew the less well-known artists that we love and made me feel so at ease when it came to the flow of the day and how he would play a part in MC'ing and bringing it all together. His survey was thoughtful, all communication was prompt, professional and so personable.
On our wedding day, we got so many compliments on the wedding for every aspect of it. He absolutely nailed it and I could not recommend him enough!

He is so much more than a wedding DJ. We had 3 venues for our wedding and Rian did PA and soundtracked all of them, from 11am to 12am, and didn’t break sweat. He genuinely wanted to make everything we wanted work on the day, nothing we asked was too much. We had microphones and music at the ceremony, DJing at the drinks, DJing and microphones for speeches at the dinner. He is by far the best value for money of any vendor you can hire.

I really struggled looking for a wedding DJ on the various wedding websites that was right for us, my searches kept coming up with the same main character energy, EDM blaring, local radio DJs who would speak between songs and have the same generic playlists for wherever they were playing. Rian marketed himself as “the alternative wedding DJ”, so I reached out and I’m so happy I did. As a DJ myself I really connected with his expansive music knowledge and his deep appreciation for music.

We had 4 or 5 planning phone calls with Rian where we went through our music preferences and running order. He helped us make Spotify playlists for all the venues, even sub-playlists for various moments we wanted. When those moments actually happened the perfect song was playing, it felt special and so natural. He was always available for music suggestions but really helped us make the playlist we wanted, I remember hearing a track or two he added throughout the night and they were seamless selections that really matched/enhanced our original playlist.

For me the highlight, and what makes Rian so unique, is how happy he was to be a part of our day. He loved playing the music and loved being there. Everyone the following day said how good the DJ was, if that’s not validation I don’t know what is.

Rian, you were perfect, thanks for making our day. We couldn’t have done it without you.

The best of the best!!

I strongly believe that a DJ can make or break your wedding reception and DJ Rian 100% MADE ours! He is top-notch, the real deal. His knowledge and passion for music runs deep and he uses his talents to shape the vibe of your night. During our chats leading up to our wedding, he was genuinely excited to learn about our own music tastes and preferences. We gave him some playlists of what we were thinking and he ran with it to make the perfect mix of tunes. We had a retro wedding and Rian was able to capture the vibe perfectly while also balancing it with crowd-pleasers that got everyone out on the dance floor. Our dance floor was full alllll night long with every age of guest. He was also a great MC!! Truly the whole package. Pick this DJ!

Rian was fantastic to work with. From the start, he asked detailed questions and was able to create a great plan for the wedding entertainment. He had a detailed questionnaire and stuck to our requests in our ceremony. What we liked most was his ability to work well with our day of coordinator and keep the event moving on schedule. His light setup was great and he knew how to read the crowd to play the right music, complementing our music selections with a mix of additional songs that matched the tone we were trying to set. Overall we were extremely satisfied and would recommend Rian to anyone planning their wedding.

Awesome DJ = A True BANGER for a Wedding

DJ Rian was such a joy to have at our wedding. Not only is he a super personable guy with great fashion sense, but he is also very professional and good at his job, which is setting the mood for the evening through music. My partner and I had so much fun getting to know DJ Rian, putting together playlists ahead of time, and then dancing to them with our family and friends. Our dance floor was always buzzing, and people loved his transitions between songs. Everyone agreed our wedding was a true BANGER, and we definitely owe a large part of that to the irresistible dance floor.

Rian was without a doubt the best possible choice for our DJ. I first watched one of his videos that had the Smokey Brights and was pulled in. I hadn't heard of that band before, but it was my type of music. After reaching out Rian was easy to setup a zoom meeting and get everything figured out. From there my partner and I made a playlist that was wayyy to large for the wedding and sent it in. Which of course made sense to me in the moment. Rian then asked for a top 25 for the night so we figured that out. I was shocked and extremely happy when I heard songs from the OG too long playlist being played when they didn't make the cut for our top 25. It really made me feel seen. We ended up moving our ceremony inside and used his lights to light up where we said our vows. Rian knew what he was doing. He kept the music with the moods of the night and let me tell you once it was time to dance he kept it going. It was so fun to listen to the music he was playing because it was right along with what I love. Thank you so much Rian! I hope to not have a wedding again, but at the same time I'd love to just to have you DJ again.

Rian was awesome!

We originally booked a different DJ for our wedding this past April, but unfortunately they got sick and weren't able come. However, they were incredibly thoughtful and hooked us up with Rian, who kindly agreed to take their place. We couldn't have been happier with him! He took the time to find out our musical interests and truly listened to what we said, which was evident in the music selection throughout the evening. He played exactly the kind of music we wanted him to and took the artists and genres we liked and played others that he knew would blend perfectly. He has asked us what our favorite songs were and found the perfect places to incorporate those into the evening. He was professional and fun and we so, so appreciated all the last minute hard work he put in to make our wedding day so special. You will not regret hiring Rian to DJ your wedding!

Amazing vibes!

When my fiance and I started looking for a wedding DJ, we knew we were looking for something a little different, someone who would understand our taste in music and our crowd. Rian was 100% that person for us. He has a few mixes on his website that give a great idea of the kind of music he plays - I found them really helpful and fun to dance to!

Rian was super responsive right off the bat and seemed excited to work with us. We met over zoom a few weeks before the wedding and he asked a bunch of great questions to get to know our music taste.
On the day of the wedding, he and his assistant arrived early to set up. Our officiant was mic'd for the ceremony and we had a handheld mics for the vows. The music flowed perfectly from pre-ceremony all the way to the last song. Rian was an excellent MC as well, ushering the night along while staying in the background.

If you are looking for an alternative wedding DJ who is the utmost professional and also a super nice guy, you've found him!

DJ Rian was fantastic!

We had such a great time at our reception thanks to DJ Rian! Our friends and families have told us multiple times that our reception was the best party they had attended in a long time! due to Covid altering our plans for.a reception multiple times, I was at the end of my rope with planning by the time the event was actually happening - which meant that I didn't plan out all the music details for the ceremony and reception as well as I would've hoped for. But that was no issue at all since DJ Rian definitely understood the assignment, got an A+, and then some extra credit! If you want to have a good time at your wedding, and be stress-free, can't recommend DJ Rian enough!

We are so happy we picked Rian and he was available! Picking the right dj is crucial and really sets the tone for the WHOLE DAY. We wanted someone that would get to know us and our taste in music. Like music? Hire Rian!!

DJ Rian Souleles is wonderful! He offered great advice and had insightful questions early on to get to know us musically as a couple, which I think made all the difference. He's a super chill guy who knows his stuff which is why we picked him. He also had a wonderful videographer reference. Day of he was a fun MC. He kept everyone dancing all night and was great about our drunken last minute requests. Definitely get his lighting package with fun disco ball!

DJ Rian is the best!

Working with DJ Rian was such a lovely, seamless and easy-going experience. He was very responsive and accountable the months leading up to our day and was always willing to hop on the phone to chat through anything we had questions about. He went above and beyond to make our day feel super personalized, open to any and all the special requests we had.

Day of, Rian did a great job MC'ing and driving the run of show, I didn't have to worry about key checkpoints being announced, he just took control of all of that perfectly. His DJ set up options are so awesome and professional, it really transformed the space into the best dance party ever. Our dance party was a huge hit, his ability to mix the playlist so seamless was super impressive, and he was a big reason why it was the best day of our lives.

Rian is a pleasure to work with and amazing at what he does, I would recommend him to anyone!

Rian is the BEST!

We were one of the couples that had to plan and replan our wedding during COVID. We are so thankful we hired Rian, because he was incredibly flexible and kind when it came to changing our plans, our venue, and our needs. He worked with us to understand our music preferences and met with us and our wedding planner before the wedding to ensure that he had every detail he needed. The wedding went off without a hitch and the guests raved about his DJing (even during a COVID wedding when dancing wasn't allowed, which is impressive). Highly recommend!

Best MC/DJ I've Experienced!

Rian was the MC and DJ of my wedding day and effortlessly made it best/most fun day ever! My wife and I put together a list of songs that we wanted to be played with some direction on the events, but Rian was able to make everything in between as fun as possible. His song choices easily got the butts of our guests out of their chairs and shaking on the dance floor. Rian was also very witty and fun as our MC. He would keep the energy and entertainment going through each event.

We have been to weddings where there are clear moments when the wrong song is played and the guests settle down and leave the dance floor. That didn’t happen once for us thanks to Rian. Above and Beyond All Expectations!

Rian has been an absolute gem of a DJ for us to date, even if we haven't had the wedding we originally planned for in 2020. When we first met with him, we knew he was the one because he knows his stuff when it comes to music. We absolutely trust that he will be the one to add that perfect song to our wedding playlist that we forgot, because he is just that good!

Not only is Rian a great DJ, though. He is also a wonderful small business owner who really puts his clients' needs first. Rian has gone above and beyond what we had ever expected from him from remixing and combining TWO songs for our first dance, being super responsive and flexible through all the craziness of the pandemic, and even stepping up to the plate and offering to rent us speakers and have someone DJ our mini ceremony at a GREAT price this year when we couldn't figure out how to do sound ourselves. We can hardly wait to work with him again next year for our big celebration event. Rian is simply the best!

True team player of a DJ

Rian came recommended to us from some friends who had him play their wedding and we were not disappointed. Rian was responsive, personable, helpful, and friendly. It was so natural and easy to talk to meet with him for the first time even though we had to meet via video chat due to COVID. He gave us great tips on how to personalize our playlists and was focused on making sure our wedding was a perfect reflection of us as people. A Wonderful Indie DJ and Music Fan

If you’re a music lover, you can’t do better than DJ Rian Souleles for your wedding. My wife and I are huge music fans, so the right DJ was super important to us – we spent hours searching for a non-bro who didn’t just play the same playlist, punch an air horn, and shout at people to get on the dance floor. With Rian we found a true fan of music who met with us to understand our tastes and got excited by our ideas (like post-rock for the cocktail hour and Talking Heads for the recessional), collaborating to come up several great sounds for the different parts of the event. On the day itself, he arrived in his gorgeous velvet tux, set up his pro-level gear, and MCed and DJed a wonderful ceremony, reading the crowd, throwing in our favorites and adding music from his own great collection. At the same time, he was a true professional, and so easy to work with. All of our friends danced, and so many of them came up afterwards to say how wonderful Rian was. We agree.

Stop looking - hire Rian!

The best wedding decision we made was to hire Rian as our DJ. He cut down on our stress and set a positive tone for the event that really reflected our tastes and personalities. He masterfully created a progression of moods from pre-ceremony to last dance. And he MC’d in a professional and fun manner.

Rian masterfully read the room and played the perfect music throughout the night. Our crowd was not an easy one to DJ for. We had guests who wanted to do the Cupid Shuffle all night and guests who wouldn’t dance if their lives depended on it. We had guests who are musical hipster elitists and guests who only like top 100 songs. Somehow Rian not only pleased this difficult audience, but thoroughly impressed them (and us). We received compliments on the music for days following the wedding.

Meanwhile, one of us (groom) loves death metal, the other (bride) loves the type of rap that isn’t generally appropriate for weddings (songs about butts and cheating on wives). We assumed it just wouldn’t be part of our evening. Rian figured out a way to incorporate our favorite music without it feeling disjointed or crass. It was a nice personal touch that showed he’d put in effort on his end to honor all of our musical tastes. We did not have an easy crowd, and he knocked it out of the park for everyone in attendance.

Forget the douche-bro DJs that chase you down at wedding shows talking about the epic dance parties they throw. All too often, they only know how to do one kind of fairly generic dance party. Rian is flexible and adaptive so that it really feels authentically you while appealing to a wide variety of tastes. He deserves way more money than he charges and I wish we had another party to throw because I want to hire Rian again.

Incredible DJ!

DJ Rian was the DJ for my sister’s wedding and just recently mine and he did NOT disappoint - in fact we were overjoyed. All of our guests loved him - and the song choices. Best dj ever!

We recently had Rian DJ our wedding and it was one of the best wedding planning decisions we made!Rian not only was an amazing DJ, but he also came out and did a Garth Brooks cover that was the cherry on top! Rian was awesome to work with. From the first call I could feel the passion for music, which is something I share. We hired him for our wedding date and each time I reached out he was super responsive and gave me great feedback--also, considering I have never planned a wedding before he helped me understand the process.

Wow! DJ Rian Souleles made our destination wedding reception unforgettable. Our family and friends are still raving about the music and asking for the playlist. My husband and I couldn't be more thrilled with the party that DJ Rian Souleles brought to our wedding. He wasn't the corny DJ but layered in new and old music that had everyone dancing all night. There was one drop in the night which he switched up the music that lead to a congo line bringing everyone back to the dance floor. He also ran music for a our ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and afterparty. He worked his tail off and kept us asking for more. Rian did an incredible job for our wedding. Not only was he a great communicator, and very responsive, but we couldn't have asked for more from an MC for our wedding. Everything was on-queue and according to plan. The sound during our wedding was great, and it made for a beautiful ceremony. Rian's DJ set was on-point. He played an eclectic and fun mix that kept people dancing all night long; doing a great job of incorporating classics from a multitude of musical eras to keep everyone engaged. Rian was super flexible; we asked him to DJ at three separate locations, all of which required a different musical vibe, and he delivered perfectly. He even stuck around after the wedding reception to play a long set for our "after party" down in a tent on the beach (every single person there was out dancing). I am so glad we picked Rian for our recent wedding. Rian was incredible to work with from start to finish. He's a busy guy, but he always made us feel like we were his #1 priority, from answering our communications right away, to remembering details we'd told him about our preferences, to talking us through our options when we were being indecisive. He gave us great ideas for our ceremony and reception songs, worked with us extensively on the format of our wedding, and played the perfect playlist during the actual reception. He's also an awesome emcee -- he was funny and warm and just the perfect person to conduct the flow of the reception. Everything was flawless. I got so many comments from friends and family that we had picked the perfect DJ, and I could not agree more! Rian also came equipped to provide our officiant with a small microphone. I am so happy we had Rian DJ our wedding! Like many other couples he has worked with, we were both initially drawn to his musical stylings as demonstrated in his cocktail hour mix. My first conversation with him was easy and free-flowing. His warmth and genuine passion for music made it feel like I was talking more with a friend than someone who I was just meeting for the first time. I also really appreciated how he made a conscious and thoughtful effort to understand our musical tastes. Leading up to the wedding, my husband and I decided to take dance lessons, so we were both looking forward to dancing all night long. Rian did a great job of keeping the energy up while playing an awesome mix of contemporary songs, classics, and rare finds that kept everyone moving. One of the best vendor decisions we made for our wedding, hands down. I am very particular about music and have a wide and some would consider, eclectic music taste. The LAST thing I wanted was some corny, canned wedding dj that played the songs at every wedding that no one really wants to hear. Rian understood my tastes and delivered. Having great music was extremely important for my husband and I, as this is essential to us for keeping the celebration alive. Most people remember when the DJ is a bust and it's hard to bring the energy back after that point. This was not the case for Rian. Rian knew what would keep people dancing, but also was able to bring in the guests across all generations to the floor. What I respect about Rian is that he doesn't just plug in an ipod, he is a legitimate, professional, DJ. Rian mixed, looped and beat matched; something that you wouldn't necessarily get from a wedding DJ booked through an agency. If you want a great party, with memorable music, something that you and your guests will remember and reminiscence about, BOOK RIAN. You will not be disappointed. My Wife and I booked Rian for our outdoor wedding up north in Bellingham, Washington and we couldn't be happier. We were initially drawn to his cocktail playlist which is very chill and unique. When he sat down with us to review what sort of music we liked he was engaged and genuinely interested in who we were and what we wanted. He has a great sense of humor and a warm smile. When the day came the music was fantastic; Coldplay remixes blended with Paul Simon and Drake to make the best vibe we could have hoped for. He nailed all the key moments, was on time and professional, and wore his 70's tuxedo to cap it all off. All in all Rian was one of the best calls we made for our wedding and can't recommend him enough!

Rian is the best DJ! He is so friendly, intuitive, knowledgeable, professional, and energetic. I had heard so many great things about DJ Rian Souleles from my good friends who live in Seattle, that I just had to hire him to DJ my southern California wedding. I was surprised that he was willing to come so far and still keep his rates reasonable. My husband and I are both musicians, and although we wanted our wedding to be loosely based around a Tropical Paradise theme, there were so many songs we wanted to hear at our wedding from almost every genre known to humankind. When I sent Rian our Spotify playlist, I told him I was worried that it was all over the place; a jumbled, mixed bag of music from all different cultures, time periods, and styles. However, Rian did not sweat it, and was somehow able to put my mind at ease by playing the right music at the right times throughout the reception. He kept the energy going, and the night flowing, honoring our requests, but also throwing in a few creative, yet appropriate surprises of his own. He did a great job as an emcee, paying attention to the timeline and communicating with the wedding coordinator to make sure that the night ran smoothly and stayed on schedule. After the cake was cut, it was just a pure dance party for the last two hours of the evening, and that dance floor stayed full and alive with movement and laughter.

Our friends still can't stop talking about how much fun they had at our wedding, and how much they wish we would get married again. They say time flies when you're having fun, and because of Rian's DJ skills, everyone had so much fun that the evening literally flew by in the blink of an eye. We wish we could get married all over again. If we ever do decide to renew our vows or just have anniversary parties each year, we will definitely hire Rian again!

DJ Rian was our first choice for the wedding and I knew the moment we spoke that he was the guy for us. He seamlessly blended my fiancé’s love for alternative with my Top 40 tastes. He was invested in learning more about us as a couple and our distinct choices in order to make our ceremony/reception as reflective of us as possible (Coolio, Jose Gonzalez and Fleetwood Mac on one mix? Rian did an unbelievable job at our wedding and impressed us and our guests at every turn. From the moment our friends and families started arriving Rian played beautiful classical versions of modern songs and worked with us to get our cues right for the ceremony. From there he happily emceed the event, keeping everything on track and coordinating with our caterer. The rest of the evening was a combination of songs we chose and an eclectic mix of handpicked gems and requests that kept our dance floor full all night long.

You can tell Rian cares about music and knows what it takes to read the room and give the people what they want, as well as honoring any special song instructions you might have, or songs you don't want to have played. He has great taste in music and he's such a charming and knowledgeable person. You'll be getting compliments for months about how great a job he did at your wedding.

We can’t speak highly enough of Rian. The last thing we wanted was a cookie-cutter DJ for our small and intimate wedding and Rian was able to deliver.

We fell in love with his Vintage Cocktail Hour Mix and hired him to DJ and emcee our wedding at the Corson Building in Seattle. I was slightly concerned about the unusual set-up of our venue (dance floor on one side of the building and dining area/bar on the other) but Rian visited the site with us beforehand to coordinate with the General Manager about how best to set up for the event.

Rian was able to accommodate our drastically different tastes in music without making the playlist seem schizophrenic. We provided him with an abbreviated list of “must plays” and we were immensely pleased with how he filled in the blanks. In addition to this, he was able to integrate traditional Greek dance tracks into the evening – the inclusion of a Greek language version of Billy Idol’s “White Wedding” was a nice and humorous touch.

We knew things were going great when one of our guests gushed early on that this was the best dance music she had ever heard a DJ play at a wedding. This proved to be a popular refrain, as many of our friends and family complemented us on our excellent choice of DJ. With a healthy mix of Motown, pop and contemporary hits, Rian was able to please all of our guests.

What impressed us the most was the fact that the dance floor was never empty, which is remarkable given the fact that we had a relatively small wedding. We’re so glad that we chose Rian as our DJ.

We could not be more satisfied with Rian! I honestly cant remember how we came across his path but all I remember is visiting his website and listing to his mix tapes...DYNAMITE! Rian was an awesome DJ. We were so pleased with the level of service he provided.

My dad actually picked him out as possibility, and sent me his website to check out. I listened to his "sample wedding mix" and by the third track (my favorite Rilo Kiley song), I knew we had found our DJ. He was totally stoked on the vibe we wanted for our event (70's jam rock meets 00's indie rock), and was able to accommodate everything on our Must Play list, including my husband's request of, "Can you just put some Bob Marley on there?"

He was very friendly, professional, and read the room so perfectly. We had to move where he was going to be set up at the last minute, because the weather changed drastically and we had to tent everything, and he was totally flexible. During one particularly epic downpour he managed to perfectly time playing Prince's "Purple Rain," which I will never forget. It made getting my wedding dress soaked memorable, instead of frustrating.

I would highly recommend his services.

We hired Rian because we knew his love and passion for music would make our outdoor wedding special. He didn’t disappoint. He took only the vague information on artist and songs we liked that we gave him and made the perfect choices for the night. If you want a responsive DJ that listens to you and caters to your musical needs, you'd be wise to go with DJ Rian. We booked him for our wedding and he actually listened to my musical preferences and catered the music to match. I assumed he wasn't listening and would play whatever suited him (I guess I assumed most DJ's do), but he managed to blend my tastes with what the crowd was feeling at the time, and it was brilliant. We had a band, but it turned out the "in between" parts DJ'd by Rian were most of the crowd favorites. I'm still getting compliments now, months later.

DJ Rian also played our "after party" at a small local bar/restaurant, and he knew exactly what songs to play in order to get us emotionally moved. He got everyone, from my mom to my groomsmen, off their seats, singing and swaying to songs we love. I don't remember asking him to play specific songs, so he's either read my diary, or he's one hell of a DJ. I can't recommend him highly enough.

After Rian DJ'ed our wedding in 2015, we cannot recommend him highly enough! He was super professional when going through songs and playlists, totally open to customizing you something amazing based on some songs you love or setting up a playlist of all of your favorites. He was right on time to set up for our wedding and was happy to do some little 'master of ceremonies' to get people to move where they were supposed to. If you want something really special, ask him to sing a song or two, you'll be blown away. Book him for your next big event and rest easy knowing all your musical needs are in good hands!

We hired Rian after he DJed a mutual friend's wedding where I danced so hard I threw up. We knew he was the one. Rian has an amazing taste in music and a keen sense of occasion but was also really receptive to our input and requests. He DJed our outdoor/indoor celebration for something like 10 hours and moved his set up three times like it was no big deal. He also acted as emcee to help corral guests around the property. One thing I appreciate so much about Rian is that nothing about him says "hired DJ". He's a really genuine person and well dressed dude--he integrates naturally into the vibe of your wedding and adds to the landscape of your celebration. He played my favorite Kate Bush song at the perfect time (it was an epic 3 1/2 minutes) and even though we asked him to stay away from classic party jams, as the dancing went on and our friends made requests, Rian read the room and gave the people what they wanted. When I asked Rian Souleles if he would DJ my wedding, I was confident that he would do a great job. However, he exceeded all of my expectations and delivered in ways that I wouldn't have been able to ask for.

The process began with my wife, Michelle, and I giving Rian a list of 30 songs that were important to us a month prior to the wedding. He assured us that incorporating these songs into the reception wouldn't be a problem.

On the wedding day, we arrived at the reception hall and Rian was doing a great job of keeping the guests entertained with pre-dinner music like Ella Fitzgerald, "In The Mood", and some surprises like Lou Reed's "Perfect Day".

He was great at moving things along and making seamless transitions from the toasts to the cutting-of-the-cake, etc. He had the perfect amount of low-key humor and charm. Anyone who has tried DJing weddings and events before knows this is not an easy feat.

Then came the dancing part of the reception. He did a wonderful job of knowing when to keep things upbeat and stomping, and when to slow it down, and he created a perfect blend of well-known songs such as Outkast's "Hey Ya", Michael Jackson's "P.Y.T" and some lesser-known greats like Junior Senior and Luscious Jackson. He was sure to throw in some 70s classics for my parents, such as Al Green's "Let's Stay Together" and "Lovely Day" by Bill Withers. Members of the wedding party were big Beck fans, so I also remember a fair amount of "Midnite Vultures" as well. And being a huge 80s fan, I asked him for some Cyndi Lauper and Talking Heads, and he incorporated it perfectly into his set.

At the end of the reception, Rian surprised Michelle and I with his own rendition of Joe Cocker's "With A Little Help From My Friends", and it was epic. We couldn't have asked for a better ending to our wedding.

I've since seen Rian DJ several other events, and I can honestly say that I've never seen a better wedding and event DJ.

Rian is a true music lover’s DJ. If you are particular about music—like I am—you’ll appreciate the care and creativity he puts into his work.

We’ve been to several weddings where Rian was the DJ and not one wedding was like the other. Because he brings something special and magical every time that really connects the audience; he doesn’t phone it in.

We wanted the dance party to be a big and memorable part of our wedding—and Rian exceeded all expectations. In fact, we have Rian to thank for tons of amazing photos of everyone dancing until late at the reception.

I’m a little bit obsessive and prepared 14 hours worth of music for our wedding. Rian made sure that all our most important selections were played—at just the right time. And he still managed to delight us with surprises. He even found a karaoke lounge version of our wedding theme and serenaded us on the dance floor!

Rian invests a lot of time into getting the music dialed in beforehand. In the moment, he really understands the timeline and movement of weddings, and knows how to give the people what they want.

Rian was also the emcee and sound person of our wedding, making announcements, managing the toasts and engineering our ceremony. When you’re getting married you’re on cloud nine, so we were grateful that Rian was plugged in with everyone else managing aspects of the wedding and knew just when to make transitions.

It feels like an understatement to say Rian went above and beyond as our wedding DJ. For weeks before the wedding, he worked with me and my husband to develop our perfect playlist, taking into account not only our own musical preferences, but also those of our entire guest list. It was not one of those weddings where, right after the speeches, it turned into hardcore booty-shaking tunes that alienated half of the wedding. Don't get me wrong - plenty of booty-shaking took place that night, but it was cross-generational booty-shaking that the whole party could enjoy! People seriously cut a rug until the wee hours of the morning, and we have Rian to thank for that!

Not only did Rian nail the DJ portion of the night, he also did an absolutely incredible job as our MC for the evening. He was thoughtful in his words, professional in his appearance and performance, and absolutely DESTROYED his rendition of Joe Cocker's "Have a Little Help from My Friends." He seriously brought the house down!

Bottom line: I would 100% recommend Rian again for anyone getting married, or even just wanting to throw an awesome party. He is the best DJ around, hands down!

Rian did a phenomenal job as the DJ and emcee for our wedding! Planning a wedding can be so stressful and it was such a relief to find a DJ with such a vast knowledge and collection of awesome, fun, dancey, soulful music. I was not stressed about the music for a minute! He was easy to work with, asking for my list of "must have" songs and being very communicative and organized. Not only does he have great taste in music, he is a charming, funny and energetic emcee as well. He also managed to keep the event moving at a great pace, with the toasts and the different events (bouquet toss, cake cutting, etc), while also totally going with the flow when things got inevitably off schedule. One of the reasons a wedding that doesn't get off the ground is because the music just isn't right, but you won't have that problem with Rian. He is nothing short of class, fun and style.

The manager of our reception site who was also our day-of coordinator could not say enough great things about working with him as well; mostly attesting to his professionalism, knowledge and flexibility. So many of our guests (of all ages) commented on the high quality of the music and the fun they had dancing, and still do years later! Truly, the music and dancing was one of the best things about our wedding. One of my good friends actually requested to use his playlist for her wedding after having such a good time at our wedding. Rian is amazing and I know you will be nothing short of satisfied with his impeccable work!

DJ Rian Souleles was the best DJ for my wedding. He played great music during my reception and even played acoustic guitar for my ceremony. My wedding would not have been the same with any other DJ. He is talented, professional, and fun! I highly recommend DJ Rian Souleles.

DJ Rian was fantastic to work with! He not only played our favorites but did a great job pairing his own professional selection of songs. He did an awesome job for the ceremony and welcoming guest and kept the dance floor packed all night long! We didn't want the night to end. We cannot recommend him highly enough!

Blew us away

Traveling Discotheque and their incredible group of musicians are true professionals who played a massive role in the best night of our lives. They internalized our vision and made it a reality in their own craft and style. They are so so much more than a wedding DJ. They are musicians and artists who cater a truly unique musical experience. Do not book a DJ without first talking to Rian Souleles. Thank you guys.

We found Rian through a mutual friend, and were thrilled to work with him. Before the big date, he responded reasonably well to emails, and even went to the venue a couple of weeks early to investigate the space. He gathered our music list beforehand and implemented it seamlessly for the full event: the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The transitions between songs at the ceremony were so smooth that our guests didn't even notice the changes! He also made sure to handle the mics for our vows and toasts so that everyone could hear us clearly, even in different rooms. Our music selections were included, as were the requests made by the mother of the groom, and Rian included enough of his own style to keep the dance floor occupied well past the final call. The one thing we wish was followed was our specific duration provided for each of the dances (first couple dance, mother/son, father/daughter). We gave specific times to fit our routines with instructions to fade out, but for all of them the full songs were played with bits of awkward, extra time at the end of each dance. But the audience didn't even notice, so it barely bothered us. We highly recommend Rian for your wedding!

Rian has fun with what he does! He loves music and dancing so he brings that to his work. He was good at reading the crowd and in playing music that matches with what the bride and groom want! He is eclectic and knows his music, classic or contemporary music. He was easy to work with and always a lot of fun!

Rian did a great job DJ'ing our wedding at Court in the Square in downtown Seattle. He was able to use the couple song suggestions we had and create a fun, upbeat playlist that appealed to everyone and got everyone on the dance floor. Rian came to the venue a week before to scope out the acoustics and had no trouble at all with the reverberant tall brick space. We had a great time!
