If you need more than a DJ!

We hired Trevor Blake before the pandemic and immediately hired him because we could tell he was a true professional. After speaking with him we knew that he would be a great fit for us. He not only played songs that we asked, but he chose his own songs based on the vibes we said we would like and he made the perfect selections!
He is more than just a man who plays music, he will guide you through a smooth ceremony...he even helped me revise my wedding timeline because he knew how to make it flow better. The wedding coordinator we had bailed on us a couple of weeks before because of the pandemic, but Trevor really stepped up and he was essentially my coordinator and the whole day ran smoothly. I'm sure he wouldn't say he is in the "coordinator" business but he has enough experience and is so professional that he mastered it. We were receiving compliments about him all throughout the cocktail hour, dinner, reception and nobody wanted the party to end, me included, because he was great! Go with Trevor Blake and you won't be disappointed!

Amazing DJ! Highly Recommend!

We decided we wanted a DJ rather late in the planning process. So we proceeded to do a lot of research on DJs in the Bay Area for weddings. We poured over so many reviews, and one particular DJ/company stood out, and that was this one: Total DJ. We reached out to them, and heard back from Trevor (who I believe is the owner of the company). It was great talking with him on the phone, and we were immediately sold on having him booked for our wedding.

We were able to discuss our vision for the wedding, what specific songs we wanted played, what genres of music we loved. Over the last few months, we were able to add songs to a list on their website, that we wanted played, and of course songs we didn't want played!

Originally we were going to have Trevor have 3 different set-ups for our wedding, since they were in different spots at the venue: the ceremony, cocktail/patio area, and reception, but the rain had different plans. At the last minute we had to move everything to inside. As stressful as things were, we knew we didn't have to worry about Trevor getting everything situated.

During the ceremony, he was able to have our officiant and I mic'd. He also made sure we were moving along as our schedule dictated. I really appreciated his dedication to ensure everything went smoothly. Later, he provided microphones to the people who wanted to give speeches. Finally he was able to play the music we loved, as well as mix in different songs that really got people out on the dancefloor.

I highly recommend this DJ, especially Trevor, if you're ever having an event, especially a wedding! For those of you on the fence about getting a DJ, like we were previously, go ahead and do it! The peace of mind is priceless!

Fantastic DJ that kept the dance floor bumping!

I researched a bunch of DJs before I chose Trevor. We had an initial call where we dove into details about music and timelines. He is very experienced and asked a lot of questions that made me think about the vibe we wanted for our wedding. I felt so good after I talked to him and knew he was the one.

I really appreciated how flexible he was. When we had to push our wedding out a year due to Covid, he was super easy to work with and updated our date without any charge. I loved that he was also willing to tack on time to his services last minute (literally during the wedding). Our venue didn't have noise restrictions but I wasn't sure if folks would be dancing after 11pm so didn't want to commit to 12am until the day of. My guests were having so much fun on the dance floor that I walked up to Trevor at 10:30pm and asked him if he could extend from 11pm to 12am. He did so with a smile and kept the dance floor alive.

He is also very honest and understanding. About 2 weeks before the wedding, we decided to move the dance floor from inside the barn to outside on the patio due to the mask mandate. We had originally rented uplighting from Trevor but when I asked him if we still needed it, he was honest and said it wouldn't make much of a difference now that the dance floor was outside. He let me remove it from the contract with no issues. I thought it was really cool that he was so chill and fair about everything.

He was a great emcee and gives off a great vibe. My guests all loved him and said he was super nice. We sent him a Spotify playlist of the type of music we liked for the ceremony, reception, cocktail hour, etc and he stuck with our genres and the feel we were going for. He let me bounce a bunch of questions off of him about the music for the ceremony, grand entrances, first dances and more. He arrived super early to get set up and make sure he was prepared. He also sent me some photos/videos that he took from the evening.

He was so cool and chill-- I would 100% work with him again. I will be referring him to all of my friends who plan to get married. Hire him-- you won't regret it!

Kept everyone dancing!

Like most weddings, we had a mixed crowd: baby boomers and millenials, white and hispanic families, etc, etc, but Trevor got everyone dancing. He did a great job giving each group what they want and pulling out the fan favorites that everyone could move to. Neither myself nor my husband had strong music opinions, and Trevor was great at asking a few key questions and then taking the reins on picking the music for the whole event from cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing. He also set up a whole second sound system for the ceremony with lapel mics for the officiant and groom and dance lighting for the party, and the hand held microphone for toasts. Our wedding was very DIY, and Trevor also had a ton of insight for setting up the timeline. On the day of, a lot went wrong, but he was such a calm presence. We also had a power outage at the venue and were running on a generator that was being pushed to the brink, but Trevor made it work. Thankfully, he had all the music downloaded since the wifi had gone out. Talk about prepared! As for style, he doesn't do any of the cheesy stuff, just plays great music and makes the key announcements. So So So many people kept complimenting me on the music because it was all the best dancing music you look forward to at a wedding. I had to keep telling them, I couldn't take the credit. It was all our DJ.

Great vendor, very professional

Trevor is amazing! He helped us with song choices, timeline, and picking music that reflected us as a couple. We had multiple meetings to make sure we were on track and on the same page. We ended up changing our first dance song a week before the wedding, and he was extremely flexible and understanding. Everyone was on the dance floor, including ourselves, the entire time!

Definitely will be working together again!

I had the pleasure of working Total DJs owner Trevor for a wedding! As a planner I always like to find vendors I enjoy working with to refer to other clients and Trevor is definitely now one of them! He was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and clearly an experienced DJ and Emcee! He was on top of timing for everything and I never had to cue him for the different wedding festivities. He made my job as a coordinator incredibly easy.

Great experience- would recommend!

We had a great experience with our DJ, Trevor from Total DJ. When "shopping" around for DJs, we landed on Trevor because of his great response time, communication, and I liked being able to check him out on instagram as well. Our ceremony and cocktail hour/introductions/dinner went off with no issues! As a busy bride, that's really key for a great day! Trevor set up multiple locations at our venue with no problem since we needed separate set-ups for ceremony and reception. The dance floor was fun too, and Trevor did a great job mixing our requested songs with ones that also matched our vibe! Overall, I would would definitely recommend Total DJ for your wedding/event!

Total DJ Brought the Party!

Trevor was an amazing DJ at our wedding and kept the dance floor going the whole time. Our dance floor was pretty full throughout Trevor's set and we got so many compliments on our DJ. Our wedding went pretty late (11:30) and almost everyone under the age of 30 stayed because they were having a great time. Leading up to the event, Trevor was really easy to work with and professional. He did a great job of keeping us in-the-know about what would happen and what he needed from us to make the day smooth. Plus, for the price, Trevor was an AMAZING value. I would recommend Total DJ to everyone getting married in the Bay Area, without a doubt!

Incredibly Professional!

Trevor is incredibly professional and ran our whole wedding seamlessly. The sound during the ceremony was great, he put a lav mic on the officiant, and a lav mic on my hubby that picked up his voice and mine perfectly during the vows which were all outdoors. The procession song wasn't quite long enough but he looped it, on the spot, so that it sounded seamless during the procession.

Music during the cocktail hour and dancing was a perfect blend of our recommendations and his own selections which kept the energy flowing for our ranch/country vibe.

Trevor has an online platform that allows you to select specific songs, and if the songs aren't in his system, you can custom request them. He is very flexible and willing to work with whatever music you want, even if it's a youtube song! I highly recommend Total DJ!

Professional and Fun DJ

Trevor exuded professionalism from the beginning, showing that he was experienced and detail oriented by asking us many questions to understand our vision and details for our entire wedding day. His music selection was great and was able to avoid overplayed songs and follow our desired tastes, which we specified on a cool online portal that he provided to list our must plays, play if possible, and do not play song lists. During the wedding he played fun party songs as well as romantic slow songs to get people on the dance floor. He was very flexible with our day of timeline, had good equipment and lighting, and was also able to support music for the ceremony. We would definitely recommend Trevor as your wedding DJ if you are looking for someone fun yet organized, who you can trust to carry out your special day.

Amazing! Professional and fun!

Trevor was amazing! My husband and I got married earlier this month at the Tilden Park Brazilian Room in Berkeley. Working with Trevor was great- he was quick to respond and extremely professional. I had lots of questions and he gave me great advice. His sound system worked perfectly outside for the ceremony and inside for the reception. I also really liked his online portal- I was able to select all of the songs for the wedding. Everything went seamlessly with him and we were dancing all night! He did a great job of keeping the energy up. I highly recommend working with Total DJ and Trevor.

Fantastic DJ, He's Responsive to the Crowd, and Very Thorough

Trevor was the DJ at our wedding in June 2019 and he was excellent. The whole process of working with him was seamless, he has a great website with tons of info, and he seemed just generally more professional than some of the other people we looked at. We really appreciated the detail he asked us about over the phone: he wanted to know what years we were in high school/college, our favorite kinds of music, the vibe we wanted to have at the reception, and a lot of other detailed questions so he could figure out exactly what kind of party we were looking for. He's flexible and easy to work with; we gave him about 15 songs as examples of the kinds of things we wanted to hear and 4-5 songs we didn't want, and he was able to improvise the rest of the night from there. He really excelled at playing to the mood of the crowd in order to keep people on the dance floor and increased the energy as the night got later. Overall, I'd recommend him highly and if we're ever planning another event that needs a DJ I wouldn't call anyone else.

Hire him!

We had interviewed with several DJs before finally finding Trevor Blake. He was amazing from the very start. We instantly knew he was the right fit for us. He had great ideas to help out with our wedding, things we would not have thought of ourselves. He had outlines for planning our night's songs, recommendations, an interactive song list, and more. We thought we were going to have details ready for him for our final meeting and we weren't ready yet. Trevor was able to chat with us and help us by giving us examples of different scenarios he has seen at weddings. He definitely knows how to do his job and more. Communication with him was easy and always available to answer any question we had. Even during our wedding which was a bit crazy, Trevor was prepared, professional and quick to keep everything running smoothly. We HIGHLY recommend him and would hire him again. Thank you Trevor!

Professional, amazing, helpful and easy to work with

Trevor and the crew at Total DJ KNOCKED IT OUT OF THE PARK!!! Our wedding was wonderful and Trevor and Total DJ made the planning of it that much easier. It felt like we were hiring much more than a DJ. They worked with us to develop a timeline, had so much helpful information regarding the ways things might run, and were just all around absolutely amazing. They worked with our very specific music preferences and I would absolutely use them again for another event. I have over 6 years of experience in wedding and events planning and have never worked with a better DJ and DJ company. Absolutely OUTSTANDING in every way possible. Total Dj was a total breeze to work with

I stumbled upon Total DJ at a bridal convention, and while other DJs were busy showing off their pyrotechnics or pushing me into unnecessary upgrades, Trevor and his partner let their professional presence and reasonable prices speak for themselves. Working with Trevor over the course of 8 months was easy as he is polite and timely with his responses. He always understood what I was requesting and checked in with me when it was appropriate, both before and throughout my wedding day. With his help, guests of all ages we’re up dancing and I was able to have the wedding march I envisioned. I highly recommend total Dj!

Everything We Wanted, 10/10

We met Trevor from Total DJ at a bridal show. His professionalism, passion for his job, & knowledge is what won me and my husband over. It was especially important that my husband liked him because he lives and breaths the music life. From the day we met him, to our first consultation, to the wedding day and everything in between, Trevor has been 100% professional, quick to communicate and reply, honest, and extremely flexible. His demeanor is very relaxed, but will get stuff done! Which is what we needed. He completely understood the vibe we were going for, for our wedding, and he delivered exactly what we wanted. There was never a single moment when the dance floor wasn’t full. He kept the energy going, he kept the flow of our day organized, everything was exceptional! 10/10 recommend!!!!

Memorable wedding DJ! (with a great voice;)

We had our wedding at the CIA Copia in Napa with Trevor and he was very accommodating to our particular needs. We had a very international wedding with half of our guests coming from spain and korea. We had specific audio/video needs that Trevor was willing to work with as well as an indoor and outdoor setup. We also had a wedding singer with pianist who commented how knowledgable and professional Trevor was in arranging their setup. I would say the DJ is one of the most important vendors because he controls a lot of the schedule and Trevor was the one who announced all the entrances. If you get to work with him, you ll hear his very nice and deep MC voice! On a side note we were able to rent uplights from him as well!

The perfect dj!

Words cannot express how wonderful it was working with Trevor from Total DJ. He was professional, informative, and easy to work with through the planning process. I didn't have to worry about a thing knowing the music and timeline were in his hands. We gave him freedom to play whatever he thought was best, and did a fantastic job! Stellar DJ!

Trevor provided services for our wedding on Dec 8, 2018 for the cocktail hour and reception. We had kind of an unusual wedding with a large wedding party full of unusual titles (Lord of Flowers, Best Lady, etc) with 130 guests of various backgrounds and ethnicities, and he worked magic with the crowd absolutely perfectly.

First and foremost, Trevor is a delight to work with -- he is articulate, responsive throughout the process, and very detail-oriented. His online database is easy to use and keeps you organized as well. And while the database is already well-stocked with a wide range of songs from different eras and languages, Trevor listens to you very carefully to make sure he accommodates anything he doesn't currently have: from my request of "classical iterations of pop songs during cocktail hour a la Vitamin String Quartet and Tina Guo" to my husband's request for old-school Mexican songs, to our geeky Dr. Who pick of the first dance song, Trevor made sure he had it all. Not only is his musical aspect top notch, he also has a classy and articulate announcement style that will mesh well with many events.

On wedding day, he arrived early, impeccably dressed (expect whispers from guests and relatives about how dashing your DJ looks), and he quickly touched base with our DOC and other vendors and kept us flowing from event to event smoothly.

What impressed me the most, however, is how well-prepared he is and quick on his feet. Case in point: my husband and I only picked 3 songs for the money dance since we anticipated very low interest; but Trevor quickly noticed that we had quite a few guests lined up and added 2 more songs that matched the vibe of the others, so we didn't run out of time. Trevor also accommodated our last-minute request to call on "all the single people" (rather than specific gender) for the bouquet toss/garter toss without a hitch. And he read the guests superbly, keeping the dance floor packed until the very end!

Trevor is stellar and you are doing yourself a disservice if you don't have him at your wedding. I'm definitely turning to him for future events! Thanks Trevor!

Wonderful DJ!

Trevor is amazing! A friend recommended him and we are so glad that they did. Trevor was professional, organized, and personable. He immediately made us feel at ease and took an interest in finding out what we wanted (especially any unique music interests we had). My husband is Peruvian so we requested Peruvian songs mixed with Michael Buble and current pop songs. Trevor made a great mix that kept our guests out on the dance floor! We both heard our top requested songs but it seemed to easily flow from 1 style to another and we received many compliments on the music (thank you Trevor!). I’d highly recommend Trevor as a DJ!

Trevor was amazing!

Trevor was truly amazing! He met with us in-person to go over our wedding needs and drove all the way up from the Bay Area to Santa Rosa for a site visit of our venue. He offered great advise to help us with the wedding and we felt we were in very good hands on our wedding day. Trevor remained a complete professional throughout our wedding and the planning leading up to it. We highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend Total DJ!

Above and beyond - the perfect dj

Trevor made our big day so special! It was awesome! He was on top of everything DJ, music, and sound related, and he even came in the clutch with last minute lighting when the lights we planned to use failed. We got so many compliments on his DJ'ing. I was especially impressed by the way he read the crowd and kept the dance floor busy! He played exactly the style we were going for. I loved the way he made opportunities to let us choose our favorite music ahead of time (even allowing us to name the genres and artists we didn't want to hear). Moreover, he was easily accessible throughout the process in helping us craft the perfect night. He also worked perfectly with our coordinators to keep the night moving and keep us on schedule. Everyone involved was so glad we chose such an organized and professional DJ. The last dance felt like a movie ending - thanks to Trevor. He's is the real deal - a sure shot!

I highly recommend Trevor Blake! He was extremely responsive to any questions that I had, walked me through every step the timeline and what his process is, and gave great advice along with helpful tips to make sure that the music went smoothly the day of. Total DJ (Trevor) was the absolute best. Trevor is an incredibly cool person. He's extremely reliable, super easy to get ahold of, ask questions, etc. He was the one vendor we hired that kept in touch with us multiple times throughout our wedding planning process. He is extremely accommodating and is able to work under ANY conditions.

At our wedding we lost power. That meant that Trevor for the first 3 hours of our wedding had to improvise, use wireless speakers and his iPhone (He had the forethought to upload our wedding playlist that he compiled to his iPhone! SO AWESOME, what great insurance in the event that something goes wrong--which it did). Then he had to do all the toast announcements and general wedding announcements without any speakers or mics because, again no power, and he did awesome! He is a classy, fun, kind, hard-working and patient person--exactly what we needed the day of. Trevor was running around helping keep the party going even without any speaker system. Then the power came back on and we boogied all night to an awesome line up of songs--but my husband and I felt no stress, no worry because Trevor had made what was a big hiccup that was out of all of our hands (the whole town we got married in lost power) feel so minor and we barely noticed there was no power. OH, and a rogue chair ended up along my route where I was walking during the processional and I see Trevor run out grab the chair from sight of guests, photographer, videographer, etc. and get it out of the way. He is so dedicated to his clients and it made my heart melt when I saw him helping out in ways beyond what is expected of your wedding DJ. He is great! I HIGHLY recommend him!!!!

Words can't describe how incredible Trevor made our wedding day. He was the one that kept the flow going. He was also the one that even kept our own wedding planner in check. Numerous guests at our wedding have asked us if they could have our playlist. The crowd never left the dance floor! He orchestrated the whole day. Money well spent! He was incredibly professional! We saw Trevor at a wedding fair and pretty much immediately knew we had to book him. He was calm, professional and very informative, and unlike the rest of the fair not pushy at all. He was the only vendor of the fair we decided to use. We later found he had stellar reviews online, and were not surprised.

Trevor allowed us to pick out songs for the various parts of the wedding, and filled out the blanks with similar music. You can tag songs as either "must play", "play if possible" and "must not play". If you have trouble coming up with music, he also has suggestions with different styles. We could both pick from his extensive library and also upload MP3s of our more obscure choices. He triple-checked the playlist before the wedding to make sure our selections were updated and exactly what we wanted.

During the wedding itself he was just as professional, and stuck to his job without showing off. He played the right music at the right time, made the announcements properly, and otherwise stayed out of the way. He synced up with us at a reasonable frequency, so we could both provide him updates on ad-hoc announcements and also have time to enjoy our wedding.

Book Trevor for your wedding or family event! You can't go wrong!

He knows what he's doing, trust him. Trevor did a great job with our wedding in Berkeley @ The Brazilian Room. We had difficulty with unexpected rainy weather that moved an outdoor ceremony indoors. Working with DJ Trevor was definitely a great experience. He is honest, professional, responsive and most importantly, skilled. We had a very unique, seasonally specific wedding. The them was a Masquerade Marriage, held in October. We had a definite soundtrack in mind -- less 'poppy' and more old-school, timeless, classic and just a bit dark. We asked him to weave in classics like "Bewitched" and "Spooky" and he found a way to do it. Sure we had a good dose of Pharrell and Earth, Wind & Fire, but our wedding was more about a sophisticated soiree with timeless beats rather than an all-night-dance party. And everyone commented on our DJ. Also, he was able to keep the darling yet forceful women in my family in check by refusing to do any silly wedding dances at my request. If he can handle them, he can handle anybody!

Trevor was a great DJ for our wedding in Baltimore. He was easy to work with in the weeks leading up to the wedding, and played exactly the style of music we had discussed in our consultation. Trevor did an excellent job for our wedding. Trevor was a fantastic wedding DJ. Our wedding had lots of curveballs (groom playing the first dance song on the guitar, an unexpected last second revelation of an anime convention in the adjacent ballroom, etc), and he was wonderful. I cannot recommend Trevor enough. I originally saw him DJing at our friend's wedding in 2011 and when it came time to decide a DJ for ours, I immediately thought of Trevor and how great the music selection, coordination, and arrangement was at the previous wedding. The process was streamlined and easy with Trevor: he met with us more than six months before the wedding to go over the process and we gave him some ideas for types of songs we would like. Closer to the day, we met with him to go over the venue and he was ready for anything (weird room placement, multiple rooms, timing problems, etc). On the day itself, I cannot thank him enough for the great atmosphere - we had so many of our friends and family commend him and the awesome music at the wedding. He has a very good sense of the flow of a wedding and can tell when it is time to slow it down or speed it up. I have recommended him already to friends and will continue to do so!

Total pro who keeps the dancefloor going all night

We hired Trevor as our DJ and emcee for a 95-person wedding in August 2022 and had an amazing experience working with him. Trevor is a total professional with tons of experience doing weddings. He knows how to manage all of the details to make the sound perfect, he understands how weddings are supposed to flow, he collaborates extremely well with other vendors, his presence and voice make him an excellent emcee, and he knows how to keep the dancefloor going all night. Trevor helped set up a complicated sound arrangement, including: amplified sound in two different locations for the classical guitarist who accompanied our ceremony; amplified sound for a jazz band who played our cocktail hour; microphones for the ceremony; his own DJ setup and microphones for the reception; and uplighting. He was also patient with me as I obsessed over our dinner and dancefloor playlists, and knew when to make a game-time decision to ditch my song selections and give the dancefloor what it needed.

And the most important thing: the dancefloor stayed full all night.

Personally, I am obsessive about music, so I gave Trevor too many song selections and fussed over many details in advance. In retrospect, I realize that I should have spent less time worrying about these things and trusted Trevor to manage them instead. If this sounds like you, I suggest hiring Trevor and letting him take the reins.

Trevor was very easy to work with. He was open to suggestions and provided input of his own. He is very professional and was very much on top of things. We had a lot of compliments from our guests as to Trevor's handling of the event. The music was very, very good. We had a sense of what we wanted, and Trevor was great in getting the songs played. He was also able to feel out the party and adapt as necessary. Everyone was on the dance floor from beginning to end!! I met with Trevor about 3 or 4 times leading up to the event. We got a chance to know a little about each other so that he could provide a style to the event that matched our personalities (my wife and me).

Great DJ experience, but disappointed

We really loved working with Trevor on the playlist and song selections for our wedding - music was one of the most important things for us at our wedding.

However there was an unfortunate mix up with the bride’s entrance song, causing him to play a weird techno version of the song. This was quite embarrassing for us, and it took some time for things to get back on track. The remainder of the evening was fine, and we loved the music for the dance party. However, this mistake was one we unfortunately can’t forget. We would recommend validating the songs in the Total DJ website prior to selecting them, and/or having him attend your rehearsal.

Update: Total DJ tried to dispute my review however I was easily able to provide the evidence that WeddingWire needed. After WeddingWire verified my review, he emailed me asking me to take down the review. Had he emailed me before he disputed it, my update might be different. However that was not the case and, in addition, I think asking me to take down the review is unprofessional. I have been as factual as possible and I hope that his efforts can be refocused to ensuring that this does not happen to anyone else.

Original: I would not recommend Total DJ because he provides poor customer service. Initially, it was my fault, I did not sign a contract within 7 days (one of his policies). However, I did request a final contract on 2/1, receive the final contract from him on 2/2, sign it and send it back that same day and ask how he would like me to get the deposit to him. He sent the link for the deposit and I paid the deposit on 2/3. Then I received this email “You and your fiancee were shopping around getting information, which is exactly what you should have been doing, but it did take more than a week and I took a meeting with another couple. They got back to me in 7 days and both of you actually made deposits on Saturday. Technically they paid their deposit a couple of hours before you did on Saturday morning. Consequently, I am booked for their date.” There are two main reasons why this is poor customer service: 1) At no point (i.e. before I signed the contract, before I sent the deposit, etc.) did he mention to me that there was a chance that anything was going to be an issue 2) He knowingly sent two couples contracts for the same day and, on top of that, sent both of us deposit links. In good customer service, you would never let it get so far that you have two couples sign contracts and pay deposits for the same day. Total DJ not only provides poor customer service but is also inconsiderate, definitely not something I would want on my wedding day.
