Nancy was one of the best vendor decisions we made for our wedding. Clearly, she is passionate about her work - she has set up a small bakery as an extension of her home (trust Google maps!) and is an expert on all things iced and baked. We requested a small, 7” cake, and 200 cupcakes. Day-of, they were delivered, set up, and looked spectacular. The sugar flowers required a sign informing guests that they were, in fact, fake.

I also wanted to surprise my groom with a cake for our rehearsal dinner. Nancy exceeded my expectations with every detail. I had requested a “travel/hobby” themed cake and ended up with a suitcase, parachute, passport, swim flippers, and our motto, “You, me & the world”. It was perfect (and delicious - bourbon chocolate cake for my porter-loving husband)!

I highly recommend Top Tier Cakery - Nancy is nothing short of incredible!

Nancy was so wonderful to work with. I knew I had one less thing to worry about when I left her bakery. I knew my cake would turn out as perfect as i had envisioned it. Her artistry is wonderful and her cakes are delicious (especially the maple)!!

Delicious and beautiful cake!

We had such a lovely time working with Nancy! We did a tasting with her, and she was very thorough with her questions and patient with us since we didn't know much about what we wanted. Everyone (including us) loved the cake!

I called Nancy at Top Tier Cakery at the last minute, due to another bakery losing my order and telling me they couldn't accomodate me and she took my order and didn't disappoint for my twin girls' Frozen Birthday Party. Not only were the cupcakes beautiful, they were delicious! I would definitely recommend them!

Top Tier Cakery was recommended to us and we put all of our trust in them since we are not from the area. Im glad we did. They were professional, timely and their product was quality. I was really debating on having a cake or not. I feel like at all the weddings I had been too the cake is really pretty but don't taste and good. I ended up getting one for more of the traditions of cutting cake. So we got a small cake. It was beautiful and good. Nancy was so friendly and talented. She was able to get me exactly what I wanted. I got a gum paste flower that looked real that sat on a wood slab made of fondant. People thought it was real that it wasn't until I told them after the wedding did they realize it was fake. So got enough cake for only half my guest (but had donuts, cinniumum swist and caramel apples) and the cake was the first gone! The only complaint was I didn't order enough!

Nancy Collard of Top Tier Cakery was awesome to work with. She provided us with a beautiful nautical anchor applique designed wedding cake. Cake was deliciously prepared with a French-vanilla batter and cherry filling, white buttercream frosting and navy hand-made anchors with frosted-designed roping in between the round layers. Nancy provided very personalize service. I highly recommend Top Tier Cakery for any event, you will be impressed.

Top Tier Bakery has porvided several theme cakes for our organization. The cakes have been spot on for the the theme that they were to represent. They have been beautifully presented and unlike many decerated cakes they were also delicious.

I had always dreamed of an exquisite wedding cake - one that my friends would rave about and one that I would remember forever. Nancy provided me with that cake. She listened to what I had in mind, made constructive suggestions and was concerned with every detail. The result was outstanding - floral, beading and lace decorations that appeared so real, but were really the result of Nancy's skillful cake decorating ability. And the quality of the cake itself - outstanding! Thank you Nancy for being so talented and caring so much.

Nancy is a true artist when it comes to making wedding cakes! The cake for our wedding was absolutely beautiful. Nancy is so easy to work with and she answered all of my questions in a timely manner. She was so helpful with picking out the cake flavor and fillings. The cake tasted as amazing as it looked! We received so many compliments from our guests. Wow! What an amazing cake!

Top Tier Cakery provided the cake for our wedding at The Homestead Resort. We worked with Nancy and she was the definition of friendly, and accommodating. Saying that she is talented does not do her justice; her attention to detail and skills with baking are phenomenal! And the taste... Wow!! Our cake was the best we've ever had! Nancy is the best of the best, we highly recommend them for your party cake needs!

Perfection!

We can’t say enough positive things about Nancy from Top Tier and the incredible care and attention to detail she put into our wedding cake. From the very beginning, it was easy to see the unmatchable experience, skill, and dedication she brings to everything she touches. The hardest part about the process was actually choosing what we want because she is willing to make absolutely anything you envision, and you KNOW she is going to totally knock whatever you throw her way out of the park. Also, every single cake and filling we tasted, we loved…so it was extremely difficult to whittle it down to three flavor combinations (due to our small wedding size). On top of everything, she made a succulent for our cake that was unbelievably realistic. Her workmanship is absolutely outstanding, and she makes the most memorable cakes. If you want a flawlessly beautiful and delicious treat, go to Top Tier Cakery!

Nancy did a wonderful job from begining to end. The first meeting was most helpful because of the examples she brought and the design ideas for our type of celebration. The cake was elegant with traditional details which fit the occasion. The frosting and cake was delicious and received many compliments. Her attention to details, the delivery and setup went so smoothly we were able to attend to other areas of the celebration. Our club was very happy and proud to have her expertise and professional help in our 90 Year Anniversary Celebration for The Friendly Garden Club of Traverse City.

I would never recommend a better baker!!! I love in Florida so it can make it really hard to place a wedding across the country ! But Nancy was amazing! Out of my vendor she was the one they stay in constant contact with me all year even ordered a special cake stand for me! I will continue to use her for any event I need a cake in the traverse city area!!!

Nancy was so helpful when trying to plan our wedding cake. We planned our wedding from 3 hours away, so most of our planning was done via email and telephone calls. Wonderful experience with great tasting cake!

I could not say enough good things about Nancy and our experience with Top Tier Cakery! We had a great time at the cake tasting and felt like Nancy did a great job of guiding us through the process. We ordered a two-tier cake with lavender ombre and 100 cupcakes (5 different flavors). My husband had a very specific flavor that he wanted (dark chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting) and Nancy made sure to put a cupcake directly on our sweetheart table so that he got his cake! Nancy was very thoughtful throughout the whole process and made sure everything was perfect! She really knows her cake and it showed :) We left the venue with very little leftovers because everyone loved the cake so much!

I didn't do many bakery samplings, but when I arrived at TTC with my chief cake taster (mom) in tow, I knew it was going to be good. A woman who loves baking so much that she has built a house addition specifically for her own creative kitchen is a woman with a true passion.

Appearances aside, we were not left wanting in taste or presentation. Nancy had prepared a special mini cake surrounded by dollops of different fillings. Mom and I happily sat down to our little cake party and cut our own little slices and tasted to our hearts delight. The cake was fantastic in consistency - it was fluffy, but not squishy, and dense enough to hold its own, but not that kind of grocery store dense that is mushy and weird. The frosting was delicious as well - true in sugary and buttery form. We were even convinced to use fondant even though we have a fondant aversion. Nancy's fondant was quite good, so we went with it.

For design I wanted a cascade of sugar flowers. Nancy hadn't yet done something like this, but man was she on the money. Nancy already had a few sugar flowers in her kitchen that looked so delicate and artful, so I knew she would make some great flowers for me – and they were breathtaking as expected.

For my rustic wedding I wanted my cake on a giant tree slice. Tree slices are hard to find; online they are expensive or the wrong kind and tree-cutter companies weren’t helpful. But Nancy saved the day with a fondant creation that looked like the most perfect tree from an enchanted wedding forest with a perfectly level top for my perfect cake.

My football-loving husband received a surprise chocolate grooms cake in the form of a Giants football helmet. We had trouble with the logo since it's copyrighted - silly. In the end, the helmet looked really authentic and barely even needed a logo - a Giants fan knows a Giants helmet. And not to be outdone by the fondant tree slice, the football helmet cake got it's own homemade astroturf cake stand.

My husband and I couldn't have been happier with our service and the result of our wedding cake. Nancy was extremely flexible and understanding to the craziness that comes along with planning a wedding. I had more compliments on my cake then anything else at the wedding. Nancy is absolutely incredible and a pleasure to work with. Our cake was not just gorgeous but out of this world delicious!! We had a vanilla cake blushed with Grand Marnier and filled and iced with European meringue butter cream.

Top Tier Cakery was nothing short of wonderful! We started with working with Nancy Collard shortly after we were engaged. This woman is incredibly talented, and that talent is matched equally with kindness. We knew we wanted something that was a mix of rustic and refined - the perfect compliment to who we are as a couple. Nancy worked with us for months getting the details just right. The understated, yet elegant birch cake sitting on top of a blinged-out rhinestone base was exactly what we were looking for! Each tier of the cake was different; vanilla with raspberry filling, marble with maple cream filling and chocolate with chocolate cream filling. All were incredibly moist and delicious! My guests raved about this cake, both its beauty and taste! I recommend Top Tier Cakery to anyone who is looking for a beautiful and delicious cake, created and delivered with incredible sweetness :)

The mother of the groom is gluten free. We ordered 6 GF cupcakes offered by Nancy and her daughter. They delivered a dozen, each decorated with the same beautiful, edible Gerber Daisies that decorated the wedding cake. The wedding cake and the cupcakes were delivered and set up on time and all was perfect. All were delicious and totally enjoyed by all the guests. The flavors and fillings Nancy offered were delicious and it was difficult choosing from all her offerings.
Top Tier Bakery is very professional and offers a top notch product.

Nancy and Top Tier Cakery are fabulous! Nancy agreed to create a "one-of-kind" beautiful, custom, surprise wedding cake for my our son's wedding with very little lead time. Though she was already booked solid for the weekend, she was touched by their sweet love story, and accepted the job without hesitation.

Nancy is a wonderful and creative designer. She suggested matching the cake to our bride's beautifully unique wedding gown. Having only seen the dress in an emailed photo, she perfectly created the intricate lace pattern, and unique blush color of the gown. The cake was both stunning and delicious, including her special raspberry filling.

Nancy was wonderful to work with in all capacities. Top Tier Cakery has my highest recommendation!

Excellent Wedding Baker

Working with Nancy was a pleasure, we are from the Detroit area and our son was married at Crystal Mountain in Thompsonville. Nancy made the process of hiring an out of town vendor seamless, she is very professional. The cake was amazing, would recommend Top Tier Cakery as the best in the area.

We had to make a lot of last minute (2 weeks in advance) changes. Nancy was 100% on board, 100% professional, and the cake turned out more amazing than I could have imagined. Everyone thought it was beautiful and delicious. I'm not sure the top part will last a year in our freezer.
If you want to be able to tell your cake baker what you want (even if you aren't entirely sure yourself), when you want it, and not have to worry or baby-sit them, call Nancy.

Nancy. Was very flexible with me. I was having a destination wedding in her area. The cake she made was way beyond expectations and the taste was amazing. Most wedding cakes i find to be way too dry and flavorless. I had bananna and vanilla and it was awesome! Everyone raved about our cake and all the amazing detail she put into it.

Nancy was so wonderful to work with. We were planning our wedding out of state so we were concerned about communication and conveying our vision accurately and Nancy put all of our concerns at ease. She was always very prompt with her email responses and answered our questions thoroughly. We met with her for our tasting about a month before our wedding and she had a wonderful assortment of frosting flavors and cake for us to try. We wanted cupcakes for our wedding and Nancy helped us come up with the perfect combination of flavors. We also ordered a handful of vegan cupcakes to accommodate some of our guests and they turned out wonderful. Everything we ordered tasted delicious and it was set up beautifully. I would recommend Top Tier Cakery again and again.

I loved working with Nancy on our wedding cake. We were able to customize everything! We are from the Metro Detroit area, but were having an up north wedding (the Homestead Resort) and it was so easy working with Nancy, even with a 5 hour distant between us. She was very responsive to emails and if I ever had a question or wanted to change my mind she was always there to make everything perfect for us.

We were having a fall wedding and I really wanted a layer of our cake to be a spice cake layer. When we went in for our tasting Nancy had all types of fillings available for us to taste, along with the spice cake and the normal cake. We ended up going with two layers of vanilla with raspberry and one layer of spice cake with apple. It was amazing! So moist, one of the best wedding cakes I have ever tasted, not like most wedding cakes where it is pretty but dry. Our cake was both beautiful and flavorful. We also had her make some sugar flowers for our cake. I told her the colors/theme of our wedding and she made the most amazing sugar flowers for us. We still have them at home as they were too beautiful to throw away! I was so excited when I saw my cake all set up, it was just beautiful.

Also her fondant is amazing! I never wanted fondant on my cake as I tend to hate the gumminess of it but we were able to taste hers at our tasting and it was amazing, tastes just like normal frosting without the gumminess.

I would highly recommend using Nancy and Top Tier Cakery for your wedding. I wish I lived closer so I could have her cakes for every birthday! I guess I will just have to wait for our one year anniversary when we can bust into our wedding cake top to have some more of her delicious cake.

When it comes to making cakes that make a statement, Nancy takes the spotlight, and deserves every minute in it! Of all the bakers in the area, Nancy is the most proficient at her craft, knowledgable of textures, flavors and materials, and she also bakes one heck of a cake! Nancy was easy to converse with, via email, and made the whole experience an absolute treat! While I opted to design the cake, Nancy put her own flair on the embellishments and inclusion of a gumpaste flower. Which was so lifelike, you'd never believe it was gumpaste.

I love my cake, and so did all of my guests. I'm so glad Nancy was able to make such an amazing, edible, masterpiece, for my wedding!

Nancy provided a wonderful wedding cake experience for our June wedding. We had a lovely time meeting her during our tasting and working with her throughout the planning stages. Nancy is very professional and stayed on top of things to ensure everything was in order for our wedding day (this was much appreciated, when planning a wedding). Our cake turned out amazingly and Nancy flawlessly made my vision a reality. Our guests commented on how great the cake looked and tasted.

Wow! Everyone keeps saying how wonderful our wedding desserts were, and we couldn't agree more! We had a small coconut cake to cut and tons of cupcakes for our guests, and we couldn't be more pleased with our entire experience with Nancy at Top Tier. Everything was absolutely delicious and she made sure it was everything we asked for... and more! Would recommend her for anyone getting married in Northern Michigan!

I was absolutely thrilled with the process of working with Nancy to create the perfect cake for our wedding last summer. Although we lived downstate and could not meet face to face very often, Nancy created the exact look and taste I was going for. It was perfect with the rest of our décor and looked absolutely gorgeous at The Homestead where we got married. Her team was my favorite to work with and I am so happy we chose her!

Delight to work with. Did most of our communication via emails, as our schedules were very different. She arrived right on time, as this cake was to be a surprise for my husband. I asked for a WOW cake and I got that. Details on the cake were amazing! The cake and frosting were excellent tasting too. Money well spent.

Nancy is an absolute cake magician! From the time we contacted her to the, tasting, to when the cake was delivered at our reception, Nancy blew us away with her professionalism and artistry. Best Wedding Cake in Northern Michigan

My daughter and her fiancé decided to have their wedding in northern Michigan, and we didn't know any vendors in the area. We were so blessed to find Top Tier Cakery. Nancy was so easy to work with and the cake was not only lovely, but tasted amazing. Each tier had its own unique flavor and our guests raved about it all night. Highly recommend for anyone needing a cake in northern Michigan.

Nancy at Top Tier Cakery is an absolute delight to work with! From the cake tasting to the final products everything turned out perfect! For our wedding we had a grooms cake, the AMAZING wedding cake, and Nancy made a special personal cake for our 6 year old son. The flavor combinations were so good, the quality of the cake was beautiful! I could not say enough good things about this vendor. First and Foremost, the work on the cake was intricate, very detailed, and was amazing! We had a peacock theme and she matched our colors, and created the most amazing peacock cake with a peacock on top. She kept me up to date on the status of the order as it progressed. We wanted a delivery instead of pick up and she ensured that happened even though she had other previous plans for the same day. Her rates are reasonable and her work is creative and more than I could have expected. Thank you for helping make my wedding day amazing!

Top Tier made the cake for my father's 70th birthday. I was looking for a custom design that including icing sculptures (camping/fishing scene with both parents and kids represented). We discussed what I wanted via email/phone and they took it from there. They really did a great job even given my poor visualization of the design.

In addition to being creative and beautiful, the cake tasted great.

Top Tier Cakery provided a beautiful and neat cake for my Wedding at Castle Farms. Nancy was friendly, professional and was also very helpful in sharing ideas with me through this entire process to create the beautiful cake that I was hoping for. My daughter saw a photo of a cake that she wanted for her wedding, and Top Tier Cakery was able to replicate it perfectly. Email communication was prompt and clear, and the cake was exactly what my daughter wanted, looked and tasted great. It was different from typical wedding cakes ( a S'Mores cake, complete with marshmallows, chunks of chocolate and crumbled graham cracker decorations), and looked fabulous.

Absolutely incredible! I would definitely recommend Top Tier Cakery for any and all of your special events! Beautiful and delicious sweet treats

Nancy was a joy to work with, start to finish! We selected a four tier semi-naked cake, and a variety of desserts for a dessert bar. The cake was moist and delicious! Our only complaint was that you could see a bit of cardboard on each tier. Our guests raved about the dessert bar for days. We would definitely recommend Nancy to anyone looking to sweeten up their wedding or special event.

Terrible customer service

As I’ve stated in other reviews Nancy sold us a 500 cake that serves 25 people. Suppose to be like one in her own website. When it was delivered via TAXI to Crystal Mountain we found the cake was plan with orange circles on the top which were suppose to look like a birch tree and no flowers as was shown in cake that we asked for. When I called Nancy she was rude and laughed stating you should of asked your florist . Never was this mentioned to me. Stressed the bride out completely. Thankfully my florist was on site and made miracles happen. Nancy was also to provide a cake top box which she did not.
For 500 bucks for 25 guest ridiculously price and customer service of Nancy awful. When we texted after the fact she told me to forgive myself for the mistake. She took no responsibility. She rude and unprofessional!
