10/10 Wedding Florist
We used Thrifty Florist for our July 8th wedding and were very pleased with our communication & finished floral products from them. I showed David a pinterest photo of my inspiration for a bridal bouqet and centerpiece and when we met him he had created a beautiful sample of each. The florals in person looked better than I couldve imagined. David and his staff are very attentive and detailed. Thank you Thrifty Florist for making our day so special! -

Beautiful Flowers for my Wedding!
We absolutely loved our flowers for our wedding day, and working with Thrifty Flowers throughout the planning process. The flowers at our wedding were very important to me because flowers are a pastime of mine. David and his team did not stop until my vision was met. We had countless meetings, and the team created mock centerpieces/bouquets for me to see and change months before our wedding. They even made a last minute addition to week before the wedding - a floral arch. The best part was that the team took my vision and provided cost-effective alternatives since some of the flowers I liked were very unique and rare which would drive up the price significantly. Numerous guests came up to my parents throughout the wedding asking who did our flowers and were super complimentary. If flowers are important to you definitely work with Thrifty Flowers - I can not stop looking at pictures of our flowers at our wedding :) -

I got the flowers for my wedding party here. My now husband and I wanted tulips, which are not in their traditional wedding packages. I went in to meet with Victor, one of the floral designers. He was fantastic and very helpful. He gave many suggestions for what to add to my tulip bouquet to give it some extra flair, and suggested other flowers for the boutonnieres because tulips can get crushed from hugs. The flowers were also extremely affordable. For my bouquet, four bridesmaids bouquets, 11 boutonnieres, and three corsages it was less than $300. At other places just the brides bouquet alone can be up to that amount. My dad picked up the flowers the day of the wedding and they were beautiful. Exactly what I had wanted and described to them. -

Rosie at Thrifty Florist in Dearborn is amazing. I showed her a picture of what i was looking for and she created it perfectly and for an amazingly reasonable price. We shopped around at many other places but they wanted to charge just an outrageous amount of money. With Thrifty, i am getting everything i want at a percentage of the cost that other places were quoting. -

We went through Thrifty Florist for our wedding. No matter the location near you you have to go through Linda Grogan for the wedding order/package. She will come to the Thrifty Florist by your house which is very convenient. Linda was more than helpful with helping us choose the right package/flowers for us. We chose package #3 and it was a really good price for everything we needed/got. So happy with our choice and also with Linda. The flowers were beautiful, and arrived to location on time. Cannot say enough how awesome she was!! -

We used Thrift Florist - the shop located on Telegraph Rd. - and were BLOWN AWAY by the quality. We worked directly with Dave Calcaterra and he and his shop were absolutely amazing. The price was exceptional for what we received. Everyone at our wedding was stunned by our flowers. I imagine I wasn't the easiest bride to work with because I was very particular about the flowers - color, type and arrangement. Dave and his team blew me away when I saw the final pieces. We had about 4 trials - never charged me once! - until we got it right. And then, on the day of the wedding, it was even better than expected. Dave also did the flowers for my cake. I can honestly say I've never seen a more beautiful cake in my life!!! I HIGHLY recommend calling Thrifty Florist (the one on Telegraph Rd.!!) and ask to work with Dave. He is amazing!! -

I found Thrifty Florist to be a great place for my wedding flowers. I didn't want to spend a lot and without even knowing my budget beforehand, they worked with me and I had lots of great flowers without having to shell out thousands. I worked with Linda who was very knowledgeable and helpful. My flowers were beautiful and vibrant and showed up great in the pictures. They also were delivered in a very timely manner to the church. I have no complaints about them and would recommend to any bride! -

Linda did such a great job on our wedding bouquets, centerpieces, and boutonnieres. During our consultation, she was so helpful in finding flowers that I had in mind for our wedding day! She delivered our flowers and set them up at our venue. Very nice lady and does a GREAT job with flowers. I couldn't have imagined better flowers for my wedding - they put my day over the top. Linda was very professional and I knew I could count on her, so I had one stressful part of my day that I did not have to worry about one bit! -

Linda G. worked with me on altar arrangements, bouquets, boutonnieres and corsages for my 11/06/10 wedding. The flowers for the church were gorgeous - big triangular arrangements in white with pops of red. The BM bouquets were fantastic! Linda arranged the silks and feathers I gave her with some real flowers to create them. The girls loved them. My boutonnieres and corsages were great, with the exception of my poor groom's flowers. The rose on his bout popped off right after the ceremony during the receiving line! Did not seem to be attached well to the rest of the bout. My bouquet was absolutely to die for - a huge cascade of white flowers, greenery, and ribbons. Linda was always very pleasant to work with and very creative. Minus the groom's bout, I loved my flowers from Thrifty. -

We worked with Linda and had a great experience. She was able to work within our budget and we never felt pressured to do otherwise. When I wanted to make a few last minute changes, she was flexible and willing to meet with me and talk things over to make sure everything was just right. I was very happy with the end result and the flowers for the bouquets turned out just perfect...better than I had pictured! -

I worked with Kimberli at the Telegraph/Grand River location since it was closest to my venue in Farmington Hills. I went in about a week or so before hand since I didn't have a wedding party to buy for, and she was very helpful in advising me in what styles and colors would work best. As it turned out, they could not spray the flowers I chose blue as they would wilt, we she quickly worked around it to order white flowers with blue accents. They turned out wonderful! -

I went with the shop in Ann Arbor, MI and was thrilled with their willingness to work with me. They made me the most gorgeous and fragrant bouquet! The trial run was very helpful as they showed me different options regarding colors, flowers and arrangements. It was even lovelier than I anticipated. They also provided our corsages and boutonnieres, including a spare (free of charge!) for the groom so it would be fresh in the pictures after hugging so many people. I also ordered additional flowers in bulk to make my own centerpieces and the bridesmaids bouquets. It worked out perfectly and they were very accommodating. -

Thrifty was awesome! Linda was great to work with and took all of my wants and needs into consideration while also staying within my budget. She really cared about the fine details of things which I appreciated. Our centerpieces and bouquets were all a great size as well. David with Thrifty Florist was wonderful! He met with me and went over all my floral ideas. He directed me in better directions when needed. I had a specific vase in mind for my large centerpieces and he actually went and bought them for my event to make it perfect for me! The flowers were beautiful! They delivered them on time and picked them up at the end of the night. Plus, they are a great value....excellent service and quality for the price. -

I worked with Angela and she was the best person! She was willing to work with me and to suggest things that went with my vision. I did not like that they required payment before the event, but I understood that it was a company policy, and not a reflection on the woman we loved from this company. -

This was the Thrifty Florist in Garden City - it wont let me change the place!! We were so happy with the time they spent with us to choose flowers. I was there more than an hour because I just could not decide what I wanted! We finally chose daisys, my girls would carry them as long stems. A week before the wedding I got a call that my order was confirmed but I could not order any more daisys because there was an issue with the vendor. The day before the wedding, my mom picked up the long stemmed daisys so that we could hand wrap them - they were different colors and only about half were the color I ordered. My aunt did a wonderful job at making them look beautiful - but I couldnt even assist in wrapping them because I was so upset! The next day, at the church, the rest of the flowers came and I was a little disappointed by my bouquet. I wanted a large, tight bouquet - mine was small and tight. I am thankful that the flowers were not a huge deal to me, because I would have been devistated. The people at Thrifty Florist were very nice. As I understand it, this was an issue with a vendor of theirs; I just wish I had a heads up before I received the flowers! -

This was our one problem area. The bouquets and Bouts looked fine. The centerpieces looked great also. The problem was that they didn't bring in the flowers for the cake. There was supposed to be flowers in between each layer on the cake and it was also my cake topper! So basically my cake looked like a plain white frosting cake with some ribbon on it. Luckily my coordinator at the Sterling Inn and my mom were able to take flowers from the centerpieces and put them on the cake and make it look a little better. They had tried calling the florist numerous times and never heard back from them.
I called Ruth when I got home to discuss the problems. She told me that she didn't have it written down about the cake flowers. I told her that I had it on my printed out receipt that she gave me. Then she said she found it on a scrap piece of paper. Well what good was that? Look at your computer where you have it written down. Anyway, she said she would look into it and give me a call on Monday. We'll see if I hear from her or if I'll have to call back.
They also were going to charge me an additional $25 for delivery because they said they had to go to the sterling inn twice, once to deliver the bouquets and the other to set up the venue. Well they were able to do it all at once, so that is another fee that I have to get settled. Overall the flowers looked nice, but they forgot a major part and seem very disorganized. -

Linda was great however, the flowers that we ordered were to be Light pink... yet we ended up with coral pink with an orange hue... the groomsmen had the light pink we ordered (did not look good). In the end we had to run to Joann fabrics the morning of to change all the bridesmaid sashes and the centerpieces did NOT match the chair cover sashes. The bridal bouquet was to have white accent flowers in it and they were ivory/creme. Overall, not what we ordered at all and was very dissapointed with the flowers... It was a good thing the rest of the day was PERFECT! :) -

Thrifty was a great budget flower shop. However, because they gave us a great deal, they also felt the freedom to change up our flowers at the last minute. For example, all the groomsmen were supposed to have red gerbers for their boutinneires... Instead they were all given peach because the shop forgot to order the red. Also, the bridesmaids' bouquets were not the agreed upon colors or arrangements. My flowers were beautiful, but again, the stems were about a foot long, as opposed to the 8 inches we agreed upon, they used greens that I had specifically asked them not to use, and didn't tie the stems as I had asked. -

Dave Calaterra is all for helping you get started with Thrifty Florists, but after the first meeting it is like pulling teeth to get information. I had met with him about 2 months before the wedding and felt rushed, but generally happy with my choice. He promised me a quote within the week so I could discuss with my fiance. That did not happen. I had to call and got his voicemail and only have 3 voicemails and a physical note left by a receptionist did he call me back. even then i had to wait until 2.5 weeks before my wedding to have any idea of the price, and obviously by that time there's no room to shop around. The final quote was much high than we had discussed at our first meeting and i had needed to call back, (yet another voicemail) to tell him the flowers we had discussed since he "lost" his notes. The only thing I can say are the flowers for the reception seemed worth their price and were good quality. Our actual bouquets were with flowers that were dying by the time we took photos at the church and the roses were wilting and turning brown. Not only were they low quality flowers but they were more expensive than we had discusses initially. They were willing to deliver and I changed the times on them a bit so I will give them that but my work with Dave was less than professional, so in general do not work with him or the Southfield branch if you have the chance. -
