We had our wedding ceremony and reception here, and it could not have gone any better! The staff was very helpful before and during the wedding, and we were able to successfully redecorate the place between the ceremony and reception. The hall is gorgeous! It is by far the best venue in the Lafayette/West Lafayette area.

We had our wedding reception at TDH and it was the perfect venue!

I didn't run into any of the issues that other reviewers mentioned, so I think they have updated their policies over the years. We had a full bar (keg, wine, hard alcohol). Parking was easy- they even reserved street parking in front for us. We rented the entire hall for the entire day and it was a great deal.

We did our 1st look reveal in their secret garden, which is beautiful. We sat 100 people in the ballroom for a plated meal using rectangular tables. This allowed us to have a dance floor and seat everyone comfortably.

My favorite part about this venue is that there are tons of side rooms. We had a band that was loud, so people could go to another room if they wanted to have quiet conversations. We also had a photo booth in a side room, which worked wonderfully.

It is a gorgeous venue and has a lot of character. We used their china, glassware, cutlery and linens, which were all wonderful. Aura is the person you will work with, and she is great.

This place was absolutely wonderful for my wedding ceremony. It allowed me to have my husband's grandmother marry us without any problems since she is an ordaned minister. The location was so beautiful that very little decorations were needed. Everyone had enough room to get ready and for pictures to be taken.

    Beautiful venue

We had such a great experience choosing Duncan Hall as our place to get married. Aura was very easy to work with and very personable. She made sure we had everything in order. Everyone who works there is super helpful and they go above and beyond making sure your day is beautiful and perfect. On the day of the event we had Bill helping us set up and tear down. He helped make everything go so smoothly and was so nice.

We held our ceremony on the stage of Duncan Hall and used several of their rooms for changing and preparation. Ms. Emsweller was extremely easy to work with and the Hall was not overly priced for the beauty of the building and history behind it. The only problem was a live-in caretaker who slept through the first half an hour of our use of the building on the wedding day. We were left to wait outside in the middle of the summer, ringing the bell helplessly. Fortunately, Ms. Emsweller had given me her private cell phone number (this was a Saturday and she was enjoying her personal time and not present at the building). I called her in a panic and she instantly drove across town to open the doors for us. I also received an apologetic note from Ms. Emsweller and a partial refund for the caretaker's inability to complete his job (he was later fired, thankfully). The day turned out wonderfully and I would not change my use of the building. In fact, I would love to use the building again as it could host anything from a private dinner party to bridal shower or dance.

We had our reception here for our wedding in September 2007. It went really well -the place is gorgeous and a good value I think, if you get a good value caterer (because sometimes you get a caterer+venue package and they tend to inflate the prices on the food).

The only thing is they only let you serve wine. And you have to have wine served by a licensed bartender, and you have to hire a policeman to stay the entire time at the event for like $100 total. But the policeman sat in a side room and left us alone.

With round tables it can realistically fit 80-90 people in the ballroom, they say rectangular tables fit up to 200 but no dance floor then! The ballroom is very beautiful! They set up all the tables and chairs for you and provide tableclothes. They can set up anything you want and with rectangular OR circular tables.

The one thing that was annoying is we got the place for the whole day but had to rent it PER HOUR so we ended up renting it from 9-10 in the morning for setup, then again starting 6 and through 12. 12 is the latest, so we had to finish our reception by 11:30. But that was okay.

We booked them a year in advance.

It is a historic building in downtown lafayette.

If you call the city in advance they can block off the front of the building for your personal parking purposes - this was cool.

Aura is the person in charge, she is very very nice.

I loved the venue, and they were helpful, but there were alot of concerns with the building because it was a historical building. Plus the venue was only available for a certain number of hours and that made the whole planning process more stressful.

It was a very nice venue since we do not go to church. It was elegant and the right size for what we needed. We were able to have both the ceremony and the reception in the same area so no would have to travel. Parking was an issue but we never heard any complaints.
