Most Delicious and Beautiful Wedding Cake!
We ordered our wedding cake from West Side Bakery and couldn’t be happier with the experience! We chose an almond cake with raspberry filling, and it was absolutely delicious—every guest raved about it. Not only did it taste amazing, but it was also stunningly beautiful. They perfectly executed my vision and placed the fresh florals just how I imagined. The attention to detail and care they put into our cake made it such a special part of our big day. We’re already planning to order another one to celebrate our 1-year anniversary! -

Highly recommend!
We could not be more happy with our experience all around with The West Side Bakery! Barb was communicative from our initial email inquiry and made it so easy when came to town for our tasting. The rest of the staff was very friendly as well. Barb helped us narrow down our vision and answered last minute questions leading up to our big day. Our cake and cupcakes arrived on time day of and we got many compliments on how delicious they were! -

Everything I Wanted
We had got married August 18th, 2023. We had spoken to Barb and she was very professional, very helpful, very informative, and just overall amazing. He had got a spice cake with caramel cream filling and we had plain white frosting. We showed her a picture of what we wanted and she did exactly what we wanted. We also had chocolate and white cupcakes with Dusty Rose frosting on top. The frosting was not too sweet it was perfect and the cake was so moist and soft and it tasted amazing. They delivered the cake and cupcakes to our venue for us and we also used a stand through them for the cupcakes. The cake and cupcakes was a little pricey however you pay for what you get and I do not regret a single sense spent. We got a lot of compliments from our cake and cupcakes. I would highly highly highly recommend this company. -

Amazing wedding cake!
We used The West Side Bakery for our wedding cake for our October 6th wedding. Throughout the whole process they were very helpful and accommodating with information and setting up our cake tasting. The tasting cakes were beautiful and the cake flavors we chose were delicious and made it an easy decision to choose them to make our wedding cake. We chose a two tier cake with almond cake and raspberry preserves filling and then we did two half sheet cakes, chocolate with peanut butter filling and pumpkin with cream cheese filling. These cakes were ALL delicious! The main cake was also beautifully decorated. We can't wait to get our anniversary cake from The West Side Bakery! -

Saved our wedding day!
The West Side Bakery provided us with a beautiful and delicious wedding cake for our big day. They were so amazing when our initial baker became injured and unable to bake our cake. If I remember right, West Side Bakery was able to help us 1-2 months before our date...which was INCREDIBLE AND LIFE SAVING! Not only did they take care of us on such short notice, but they made sure we got what we wanted with our original design and flavors! I will recommend West Side Bakery to anyone and honestly wish we would have just used them in the first place. I look forward to using them in the future! -

The BEST wedding cake and treats!
I grew up with West Side Bakery cakes at every family celebration and I needed a West Side Bakery cake at my wedding, too! Barbara and her team were great to work with. The pricing was more than fair. She made a four tiered, fondant covered cake with hand painted designs to match my dress... It was truly a one of a kind cake that I could not have gotten anywhere else! The french macrons were amazing-- our guests were raving about them! To top it all off, we had custom made cut out cookies as our wedding favor. From start to finish West Side Bakery was the BEST to work with!! -

Great Local Bakery!
When we were deciding to get married in the Akron area, we spoke to a few people we knew and everyone recommended West Side Bakery and after speaking with Barb during initial conversation I immediately knew we had the right place. The consultation was fantastic and they really helped guide us to what would be practical for our big day. Not only was the information and consultation great but the cake turned out incredible! It was absolutely beautiful, they allowed our florist add some real flowers to the cake, and the taste was incredible. We would highly recommend them to do the same for your special day. -

Delicious and reasonably priced cakes!
Being a local in the area, West Side Bakery has always been a staple for any special occasion of ours. Our cake was beautiful and Barbara worked closely with our florist to make sure of my vision of the cake. Barbara also made sure that my family's heirloom cake topper was very well presented. The majority of our cake was gone which means my guest liked it! -

August 1, 2020 wedding
We ordered a wedding cake, cupcakes and packages cookies assortments since everything had to be individually packaged due to Covid. Cake tasting was great and didn’t cost too much compared to some other vendors we looked at. Cupcakes and cookies were a huge hit, so fresh and delicious-everyone was raving about it. Of course cake turned out great as well!!! It was hassle free, good value overall and great quality! -

Shower catering
Catering was for baby shower for 40 people in March 2020. The petite sandwiches, salads and cake were delicious. Two of the salads were special recipes not on the menu. This is so much more than just a bakery! Would use again.

Exceptional!
Barb from West Side Bakery was the master behind our wedding cake. From the beginning, placing our order, to the end, delivery of the cake, the process was efficient and professionally managed. She was eager to cooperate with the florist to incorporate flowers into the cake design. Our cake was a special request which was lemon raspberry with a cheesecake center. There are NO words to describe the deliciousness of her cake. Months later our guest are still talking about how wonderful our cake was. Thank you, Barb and West Side Bakery! -

The best wedding cake vendor ever!
West Side Bakery is the most delicious cake place in the Akron/Cleveland area. The bakery not only helped us create our vision and make it better than we could ever dream of, but they took all the stress out of the wedding day. My husband and I decided to go with cupcakes for our wedding and cut a small cake. They helped us through the process of choosing from their delicious flavors as well as decorations. Everything was set up months in advance, and the bakery was prompt with answering all of our questions. They delivered our cupcakes on time the day of the wedding, and everything went perfectly. EVERY cupcake was gone by the end of the night, and people still tell me to this day how incredible our cupcakes were. You need to book West Side Bakery for your wedding or event immediately! You will not be disappointed. -

Simply amazing!
Absolutely delicious!!!! We had so many compliments on our cake!! We did a spice cake with spiced buttercream filling, and then the infamous Swiss meringue buttercream! Literally the best wedding cake ever experienced!
We chose The West Side Bakery for our wedding day needs, and we are so happy that we did! The cake was EXACTLY as I had imagined it to be decoration wise, very intricate and good attention to detail, a work of art in fact. All of our guests were amazed at how beautiful it was, but even more so with how it tasted - all of our guests could not believe how delicious it was, saying it was the best cake they had ever eaten, and this is from people who had come from all over this country! The staff was always very friendly and pleasant to speak with. Each time I had contacted the bakery, whether by phone or e-mail, they were very quick to respond, always in less than 24 hours, even on the weekend. Our consultation was face-to-face, they offered GENEROUS portions of the tasting samples (we were even allowed to take the left overs home!), and assisted us through the entire selection process, offering examples and suggestions while also allowing us plenty of time to consider out options. We even had a few vegan guests that the bakery was able to accommodate with a small vegan cake, which was also DELICIOUS - we took home the left overs of this and literally could not even tell the difference between the vegan and non-vegan cake, icing and all! I would highly recommend this bakery for any special occasion needs, we will definitely be returning in the future.-

Unique Design, Great Customer Service
We had a great experience with West Side Bakery in Akron. They invited us in for a complimentary tasting so we got to try a couple different cakes and frostings to help with our decision-making. Our cake concept was definitely non-traditional (we didn't want a white cake), and Barbara took our idea and ran with it! We left the creative expertise up to their team, and we couldn't be happier with the end result: beautiful, delicious cake! -

Barb and her team at WSB are amazing. They were so accommodating, flexible, responsive via phone, and knew exactly what I wanted. The West Side Bakery is absolutely phenomenal when it comes to wedding cakes, groom's cakes, any kind of cakes!! We chose the West Side Bakery for its delicious icing and fluffy, delectable cake flavors. There are so many to choose from, and Barb, the owner, was up for a challenge. I wanted to get my husband not just any ordinary groom's cake; I wanted it to be fun yet special for him. Barb took on the challenge and nailed it!! She and the West Side Bakery created "The Dude" from "The Big Lebowski" movie; words cannot describe the remarkable artistic talent that had to go into creating this life-like character...not to mention the taste was incredible! Our wedding cake was also absolutely gorgeous and delicious: white almond with raspberry filling and german chocolate. Our guests raved about each flavor! It was truly a pleasure working with Barb and the West Side Bakery, and I highly recommend them for any event!! -

My cake was amazing. I only wish I could have ate more of it. This bakery was recommended by my caterer. We did a tasting and ended up picking out cake from that. They have beautiful cakes to pick from. They really try to work within your budget. So many guests raved about the cake. I heard people took 2+ pieces of cake!!! We will be back!! -

Working with Barb at West Side bakery was amazing. To start with the cake tasting was AMAZING! I don't like frosting never had b/c I think it is too sweet! Well the type of frosting West Side Bakery makes is so delicious, light and fluffy- I knew immediately this would be the place to get our wedding cake. West Side Bakery is so creative in their designs and their flavor options are out of this world! They worked with my fiancee and I to make a small cake for us to cut and a huge mini dessert bar for all our guests to enjoy. It was so yummy! My only regret was not eating MORE of our cake during our cake cutting. : ) -

I could not speak higher for the fantastic cake The West Side Bakery provided. The nearly naked chocolate cake with raspberry and hazelnut fillings was absolutely delicious and beautiful. Exactly what we hoped for and we received numerous positive comments from "cake haters." I would not hesitate in ordering anything from The West Side Bakery. -

Everything was wonderful. The cake looked and tasted amazing! Reasonable price, beautiful cake stand rental. Consultation and tasting is complimentary and Barb is fantastic about working with you to help achieve exactly the look you want. They have lots of varieties and combinations of cake as well as the classics. Definitely recommend!! -

THis bakery was able to customize my cake the way I envisioned it. IT was lovely and the taste was on point. The guests were pleased with the quality of the cake. Lastly, I at the last minute, ordered a grooms cake in the shape of the Millennium Falcon. They did not blink and my groom was bowled over with delight at the sight of one of his favorite images in the form of a cake at his wedding. Kudos all around! -

We loved working with The West Side Bakery for our wedding! Our cake was beautiful and DELICIOUS! We were excited that they were so willing to give us our "vision" of a wine themed cake! We were able to take ideas from a couple different cake examples and create something unique!
West Side Bakery also has so many different flavor choices, which is awesome! My husband and I had a great time mixing and matching different cake and filling flavors!

West Side Bakery provided us with the most beautiful cupcakes for my daughter's wedding. We ordered a dozen gluten free, and several dozen lemon cupcakes with flowers on top in the brides choice of colors. Then we placed them on little individual cupcake holders in the shape of a heart on the dessert table, and they were gorgeous. The frosting was so creamy it was like whipped cream.
I cannot attest to the flavor myself but others said they tasted great.
This was the simplest way to have cake at a wedding that I have even known. And cost under $3 per cupcake. -

We had chosen The West Side Bakery based on reviews on the wedding websites, as well as "best of" city awards. It is no wonder that this bakery gets such high marks and so many awards. First, during the planning process, Barb and her staff were fantastic to work with, very polite, professional, knowledgeable people who strive to give you what you want, but able to offer up recommendations based on their expertise. We did a dessert table with cupcakes and assorted pastries, and this was a huge hit with everyone at our wedding. When we had gone in to the bakery for our cake tasting, we both said they were the best cupcakes we'd ever had (I'm vegan -- so I got to sample those...wow!). So, it was no surprise that by the end of our reception, there was not a crumb to be had. We ordered extras thinking there would be leftovers for people to take home, but our guests ate EVERYTHING on that table!! My first piece of advice if you're reading this review is to use this bakery for your wedding cake/other baked goods, and my second is to order a whole lot of extra servings because they will go quickly!! -

Delicious cakes! We ordered a variety of flavors and they were very accommodating of our requests. Lisa was very nice to work with, very professional and helped us choose a design that was perfect for our cakes. Samples were plentiful and many albums with designs were readily available. The frosting, in particular, was perfect. -

We ordered a small cutting cake from West Side Bakery to cut during the reception (as we had alternate desserts to serve everyone). The cake was beautifully decorated in our colors, and absolutely delicious. It did not taste at all like a generic "wedding cake" but was moist and flavorful. We got marble cake with vanilla buttercream. -

I had The West Side Bakery make a themed cake for my bridal shower that was at the Cleveland Zoo. It was absolutely perfect! I am so happy with how it turned out. I wish I could post a picture of it. Everyone loved the look of it. And it tasted great, too! She made a vegan cake for us (my fiancé and I are vegan) and a gluten free cake, too (lots of my family is gluten-free). I absolutely recommend The West Side Bakery. (They are making our wedding cake too, but I'll wait to post a review of that until after the wedding.) -

I was so impressed with West Side Bakery. Their service was incredible, and their cake was even better. I have been to soooo many weddings where the cake just sits there, no one eats it, and it's a big waste. At our wedding, everyone ate it, and people were even asking for seconds! Not to mention, it was absolutely beautiful too! I will continue to go to them for other smaller occasions in the future, but would absolutely recommend them to any bride. -

The Lena with white cake & raspberry filling was AMAZING!! Not only did this cake look stunning but it also tasted great! I highly recommend this vendor! I had two appointments with them and they used my concerns by talking me through the process. They had the cake at the venue on time. They displayed the cake exactly as we asked. They were professional, friendly, & attentive! We will certainly be using them again in the future for other celebrations!! -

My birthday is in December and I got married in January. My husband was so impressed after the cake tasting for our wedding that he got my birthday cake there too. Our cake was beautiful, but most importantly it was delicious! Westside was very accommodating in arranging the cake pick up - the retail store is closed in January when we got married, but pick up was a easy and the communication was great. -

I found the west side bakery to be delightful! I found a picture online if the cake I wanted (small, 3 tier white cake with bunting and pinwheels) for my carnival themed wedding and they duplicated it TO A TEE. The price was very reasonable and the cake tasted SO GOOD. I had so many components on it! -

I went to West Side Bakery with a weird request, my fiance was set on a DQ cake, but we needed to have a cake to cut. They assured me that it was no problem to do a FAKE CAKE! ...The top tier was real so that's what we cut at the reception and saved for our "one year". The cake tasting was amazing and the cake looked fabulous. Service was professional and I wouldn't have gone anywhere else! -

Westside Bakery is the BEST! We had cake and different flavored cupcakes. All of them were delicious. My worst nightmare was having tons of dessert left over at the end of the night. This was not the case! We provided to go boxes and people were taking home cupcakes because they said they were that great! While they might be a little pricier than other places, it was definitely worth it. My cake was exactly what I wanted and I was very satisfied. -

We picked the Westside bakery for our wedding cake along with individual centerpiece cakes. All of the cakes turned out beautiful and were delicious. Our guests loved having their own cake at the tables. We received so many compliments about the centerpiece cakes. This is the BEST cake in NE Ohio. I tested at over 20 bakeries. The texture of the cake, consistency of the frosting and skill of the decorating makes this the absolute easiest choice when choosing your wedding cake. Their flavors are vast as well. Super easy to work with. -

WOW! this company is fantastic. We worked with them to design a cupcake tower for my wedding, and it was beautiful! Barb was amazing to work with and made my vision come to life from sketches to real life!!! They had never done an ombré cake before and nailed it!!!! The color was perfect, design was amazing and the taste was even better!!! Our dessert spread they created was beautiful as well. Having The West Side Bakery make my wedding cake was something that I wasn't budging on at the start of the planning process. We worked the date of our wedding around their schedule. Some wedding cakes aren't worth the amount of money people put into them. Some wedding cakes look beautiful but taste like something you could get at a grociery store. The West Side Bakery makes beautiful wedding cakes that taste delicious. We ordered about 10 more servings and happily ate the leftovers. -

When I began planning our wedding I set out with a few broad sweeping goals:
1.) I wanted it to be fun
2.) I wanted it to be beautiful
3.) I wanted to accomplish both of these goals without compromising my husband's vegetarian and my vegan ideals
When I spoke to Barb, the WSB's owner about my concerns, she assured me that they could create a wedding cake that would be free range vegetarian/cruelty free for our guests and a personal vegan cake for myself. I asked and they happily delivered. This was just the first of many things that made me fall in love with WSB.
About half way into the wedding planning process, well after securing WSB as our cake vendor and deciding upon the 'perfect' wedding cake, I found and fell in love with a beautiful, very ornate Sylvia Winestock design. When I presented the pictures to Barb I was floored when she said they could actually make it for us. Working just off of a few pictures I was able to find on various websites, Barb and the wonderful people at WSB created a wedding cake that perfectly matched the design I'd given them. The cake was so beautiful, so perfect, I'm still amazed that it was actually MY WEDDING CAKE. I hope they add it to their collection of wedding cakes on their website. I can't think of a better cake than our to showcase this bakery's amazing talent.
Not only was our cake aesthetically beautiful, it was exactly what you want a wedding cake to be, DELICIOUS! Our guests raved about it and, despite my resolve to not eat that much, I ate and thoroughly enjoyed every delicious bite of my personal vegan wedding cake. (Side note: my husband took a bite of my cake and said it was just as good as the non-vegan cake. This is high praise coming from a man who likes to pick on all things vegan.)
I'm so impressed with The West Side Bakery and so pleased that they were not only able to accommodate my every request, but do so with such graciousness and ease. Barb, if you read this, from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU. To all of you considering The West Side Bakery for your wedding cakes, my advice: DO IT. You will not regret it!

The West Side Bakery and all of their staff are fantastic. We scheduled a tasting and they helped us pick out flavors and designs based on the colors/themes we had already picked out. They were also really responsive to my questions.. It was a little expensive, but seeing the magnificent cake on the day of the wedding was worth it. We got so many compliments. Best of all - it wasn't just pretty, it was really delicious, too! I wish we would have gotten a bigger cake in hindsight. They calculate how many servings it will be based on the size, but I don't think we should have counted the top tier in that (since we saved it for the first anniversary). Go with this place - you will not be disappointed! -

I've used Westside Bakery on several occasions - once for a 50th Birthday party, a couple other times for Christmas events and Birthdays.
For our wedding...Westside made such a stunning cake that fit in beautifully with our special day! The staff at Westside sat with us during our cake tasting and answered every question we had. They coordinated with our florist to make sure they had the same flowers on the cake that we had in our centerpieces.
We went with a semi-naked square Hummingbird cake, which was not easy to do structurally in three tiers, but they made it happen! It tasted amazing...not too heavy or sugary. Westside also provided the cake base, which was helpful.
I would highly recommend this vendor for any event! -

My husband and I must've tasted about 9 pieces of cake when trying to decide on a cake vendor for our wedding. The West Side Bakery far exceeded any of the others. I personally am not a fan of cake, but I ate 4 or 5 pieces of our almond cake with strawberry filling at the reception! Not only was it delicious, it was also beautiful! -

This cake was the best we've every had!! The design was spot on to the last detail, as discussed in our initial meetings. They were easy to work with and prompt with their responses! -

The cake was beautiful and looked exactly as we ordered but the taste is what really mattered and it is was absolutely delicious!! We've gotten so many compliments on how good the cake tasted and many have asked where we got it. I definitely recommend them -

Great Bakery
The wedding cake we ordered turned out beautifully and tasted amazing. We got the lemon cake with lemon curd and almond cake with strawberry filling. Both flavors were delicious. The Swiss meringue buttercream was also some of the best icing I've ever had.
Everyone who worked there was super helpful and friendly. For the price, I don't think you could find a better deal. -

I used the west side bakery for my bridal shower treats as well as mini cupcakes and individual pies for my rustic barn wedding. They were absolutely delicious. They were completely eaten by the end of the night and I had nothing left over. I was 100% pleased with their services and will continue to use them in the future for my bakery needs!! -

I grew up eating the West Side Bakery's cake, so it was a no brainer when we were looking for our wedding cake. Barb is so friendly and great to work with. They have a great flavor selection and many of our guests raved about the cake! Price and quality (seriously so delicious) are wonderful. Would highly recommend! -

The wedding cake from West Side Bakery was the best. We received so many compliments. They are a little pricey, but well worth it. If you love great icing...you need to have West Side Bakery do you cake. -

We highly recommend West Side Bakery for any wedding, shower, or other function! Not only is the quality of their work amazing, but the cake itself is delicious as well! They offered a tasting that helped in our selection of flavors for the cake. I simply showed them a picture of what I wanted it to look like and they replicated it perfectly. We heard from multiple guests that they thoroughly enjoyed the wedding cake. We order a three tiered cake and 3 pies for our wedding. Delivery was on time and we have 0 complainants. -

The West Side Bakery made a beautiful wedding cake for our wedding. The cake tasting was top-notch; they provided four huge, decorated samples to try for free. My groom and I went with a 4-tier cake with 2 tiers of almond cake with raspberry filling and 2 tiers of chocolate with chocolate ganache filling. It was incredibly delicious. There were guests asking my mother where the cake was purchased! The decorators really took my rather loose design idea and made it beautiful. I wasn't at the venue for the delivery, but the cake was sitting, in perfect condition, fully assembled, on the cake table when I arrived. Wonderful wedding cake! -

The cake was delicious but there was a sight gap in communication. Delivery fee was really high for the amount of distance etc. She worked with us slightly but still keep an eye of hidden fees and ask questions before payment is made. -

We had ordered our cake after taking a few tastings.. my favorite was the Pink Lemonade Cake which was filled with Lemon Curd and topped with an American Butter-cream.. we also had a few layers of Spice Cake, which was delicious. It was a lovely cake, a bit on the pricey side, but was worth it. -

I was glad that we were able to taste a few different flavors and fillings at our consultation and all of the combinations were amazing! Our cake looked beautiful for our wedding, but there were a couple of "mess-ups" that we noticed on it. I felt a little pushed towards choosing one of their pre-designed cakes from their book at the consultation. It seems that they definitely prefer more traditional types of cakes and I have a more contemporary design taste. The price skyrocketed once I explained what I wanted and, in retrospect, I think we overpaid for a cake that many bakers could have done as well. I never really tasted the cake at our wedding, but many of our guests said it tasted great. -

Not reliable delivery
On wedding day my cupcakes did not arrive when they were suppose to. A family member called the bakery which said the cupcakes would be delivered at earliest 4:30pm when the reception would have already been started. Previously discussed 11am delivery!! Worked out delivery to be around 2:30. But charging a delivery fee and not delivering when we scheduled and confirmed 2 days before the wedding! Not all of our cupcakes were as ordered either. A wedding day stressor I didn’t need. -

Every bride dreams of the perfect wedding cake. Unfortunately this was not my reality on July 9, 2016. I choose this bakery because of the photos and the great reviews on other sites. However, both my wedding cake and grooms cake was a disaster. The bakery ignored by wishes and sloppily put together the cake they wanted rather than what I wanted as the bride. I was disappointed to say the least. They also refused to give me a refund. -

Wedding cake on a hot day….
We wanted to get a cake from west side bakery due to all the beautiful cakes they had. At the cake testing we loved two flavors- the raspberry and the lemon and decided on that being the two fillers for the cake- each tier was supposed to be a different filling- example- 1st tier raspberry, 2nd tier lemon etc.
Come 2 weeks before wedding I reached out to confirm when cake should be delivered and placement. Mind you I had an outdoor wedding. And I stated what time we wanted to cut cake.
They said the said will be delivered at 2:30 and insisted it could last hours outside. Nope! My spouse and I didn’t even get to see the cake intact. Completely melted by the time we cut cake- 5:30. And guest stated that only the first tier had raspberry all the rest was only lemon. Honestly for how much we paid I’m extremely disappointed. -

West Side Bakery made our wedding cake, and I chose it because of it's good reputation. I was sorely disappointed and frustrated. My fiance and I initially went in and met with the owner to discuss options and pricing. We were very clear on wanting to stay within a reasonable (low) budget, and she gave us an estimated price and said it was doable. Months went by, and they never contacted us. We finally contacted them and set up an appointment to finalize the cake. I went in with my mom and she kept us waiting and then reprimanded us for waiting, telling me "most brides have their cake finalized by this point" and she "thought of calling me" but didn't, obviously. We explained to her what we were thinking and the price had jumped WAY higher without any explanation on her part. At this point we were desperate and had kitchen cakes made to help with the cost. If we had time we would have gone elsewhere. My mom kept trying to call in and the owner was always busy and could not be disturbed--as my mom put it, "quite the queen there." I tried so hard to keep to budget while wedding planning, and the unexpected cake total totally blew it. The owner was very hard to work with and belittling. In the end, the cake did NOT fit what I had described to her--and after paying so much! I was so mad I tried to put it from my mind during the wedding and not fixate on it. HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. Go elsewhere if you don't want to be taken advantage of. I know they have good reviews, but trust me. I've been there. The WORST wedding vendor by FAR. -
