We had a wonderful time at the Thursday Club! It was such a special and beautiful place to get married, and we truly can’t imagine having done it anywhere else.
The view was absolutely incredible and perfectly captured what we love so much about San Diego. Getting married in a garden with sunny skies and the blue ocean in the background felt magical. Our guests were comfortably seated outside for the ceremony, and walking down the aisle with that picturesque view is something we’ll never forget. The space worked so well for the reception too, from the outdoor bar to the ample dance floor, along with the beautiful Spanish-inspired touches throughout the venue.
Chris was such a delight to work with and incredibly responsive. Our food vendor came from the venue’s recommended list, and all of our other vendors had worked at the Thursday Club before and knew exactly how to design an amazing wedding day and get the best out of the space. On the day we first toured the venue, we even happened to run into the wedding coordinator we eventually worked with, which felt so serendipitous. We truly can’t imagine our wedding without her!
Our wedding was both touching and a party, which is exactly what we wanted, and the Thursday Club was the perfect place to bring that to life! We feel so lucky to have celebrated such an important day there and can’t recommend it enough!! -

After an exhaustive search of 20+ venues, we were losing hope in finding the perfect quality venue within our budget until we found the Thursday Club. The Thursday Club was the perfect match that aligned with our vision and budget. The venue's scenic views, well-kept gardens, and timeless charm, including elegant architecture and vintage details, left us enchanted. We knew instantly that this picturesque setting was where we wanted to exchange our vows. It was the only venue that made us emotional during our visits.
During our venue tour, we were charmed by little Debbie, a friendly neighborhood cat known to attend many weddings, adding an extra touch of charm to our experience. Being near Sunset Cliffs enabled us to have a stunning first look and memorable photoshoot against the ocean backdrop, creating cherished memories.
The venue's rich history as a women's club with philanthropic values resonated with us. The reception area, with a separate dance floor next to ocean view windows, was perfect for our celebration. It also offered comfortable lounging areas for our older guests and those who wanted a quiet area to have intimate conversations.
Chris, the venue manager, was exceptional, guiding us through every step with professionalism and kindness. Quick email responses and seamless vendor communication made the planning process much smoother. Tools like "All Seated" helped us design our setup, and Chris allowed multiple visits for measurements for our DIY projects. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue manager and stood out to us as a consummate professional.
Looking back on our special day, we are incredibly grateful that choosing The Thursday Club was the perfect decision for us. Its charm, value, and exceptional manager make it a gem in San Diego's wedding scene. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to our friends and family. -

t's been a month since we got married at The Thursday Club, and we are still receiving compliments about what a wonderful venue it was. You get the beach/ocean view without the sand, and a gorgeous garden but still with an indoor reception area. This venue is absolutely gorgeous, and Chris is so wonderful to work with. This venue did not disappoint and we are so happy we picked it. -

The Thursday Club is simply stunning and Chris is a dream to work with. We were so pleased with our experience and grateful for the eternal memories! We started the planning process from overseas and Chris was extremely accommodating with a FT tour, and provided detailed and clear information. He was wonderful to work with from start to end! The venue itself is picturesque, located in a quiet Point Loma neighborhood, with jaw dropping views from all around. Our guests loved the patios, especially at sunset. The garden area coupled with the unique building architecture is gorgeous, perfect for photos. Truly a special place! Thank you for everything, Chris! -

We held our wedding ceremony and reception at The Thursday Club, and it was amazing. The garden setting with the ocean views was so beautiful. Then, having everyone just walk up a few steps to the hall for happy hour and the reception was so easy! The hall is beautiful, and had multiple spaces for people to hang out in. The patios with views of the coast line up to La Jolla was just amazing. Chris was so great to work with. It really made for an amazing setting for our wedding. -

We had our wedding at The Thursday Club at the end of March and wow - it was incredible! The building is rich in history, the garden is lush with foliage and the ocean views are breathtaking. All of our guests raved over the beauty of the property. Chris was such a pleasure to work with! He was attentive and kind at every meeting and in each email. He made us feel super comfortable and taken care of. Our day was absolutely perfect and we couldn’t have picked a better venue! -

Sunset Cliffs has always been special to us. So when we found The Thursday Club we knew it was it!! The Manager Chris is so friendly and helpful. He gave us a tour and the view speaks for itself! When we had to postpone our wedding due to COVID, Chris was helpful, responsive and understanding. He quickly gave us new dates that were open within the year. This venue is magical. Ocean views, stained glass windows, lots of room for dancing, and it's perfect if you want to have your ceremony and reception at the same venue! Outdoor ceremony was a must for us. Guests enjoyed hanging out on the outdoor terrace/garden during cocktail hour and watching the sunset!

As soon as I saw The Thursday Club I knew it was right for us. Chris, was amazing and helped us with so much while we were planning. He is the sweetest and we really enjoyed working with him. We could not have had a better venue and they keep it so well maintained that you never have to worry. It is a beautiful historic building and has so much character. The views, are absolutely breath taking and make the best pictures. I extremely recommend hiring this venue! You will not regret it! -

This venue made my day! The uplights bring out the texture of the walls. Chris is great communicating. If you are fine with their rules and are planning a wedding under 150 people this is a stunning venue. -

This review is far overdue. I was married at the Thursday club in July. Our ceremony and reception were both held on site at this beautiful venue. We loved this venue from start to finish. Chris, the onsite manager is wonderful to work with and really holds your hand to ensure you have everything you need for your event. We had a fairly large wedding and there was plenty of space for everyone. Our guests haven't stopped commenting on how much they loved this place! I highly recommend it! -

James Sent on 10/18/2016BOOK THIS VENUE!!! Everything about this place is simply amazing. The views are gorgeous, the space is plentiful, and the memories will last a lifetime! The manager Chris, is one of the nicest and most accommodating man that we have every met. He truly cares about making your special day something that you will love and remember forever. There is a large room for the bridal party to get ready in, and an awesome porch for the men to hang out and support their groom. There is plenty of room for dancing, and the best possible set up space to fit all the cliche wedding moments such as grand entrances, wedding photos in the garden, couches for the grandparents. Thank you Chris and the Thursday club for making the most important day of our lives one that we will cherish forever! -

Christina Sent on 04/27/2013*Note--I have a longer review with pics on yelp!*TC was a perfect size for our wedding--about 100 people came, but since we had a large bridal party (16 people) who would be standing, we only needed 84 ceremony seats. It was perfect. We had the reception tables set up so that our sweetheart table was right next to the stage, the dance floor was in the middle, and the tables were set up around the dance floor. We had ten round tables. You have the option of either using the tables from TC, or having your caterer bring them in for you (we chose the latter since it would be easier for our caterer to set them up--we used Ranch Events and it was only $4 per table to rent.) We had a photo booth set up in the sitting room area, close to where the buffet was set up, and our cocktail hour out on the balcony.We already knew how beautiful and perfect our venue was--you absolutely cannot beat the view of the ocean, the natural beauty of the garden, and the charm of the entire house and surrounding neighborhood. But our guests were truly in love with the venue. Almost every single one of our guests told us it was the most beautiful wedding venue they'd ever seen.Some people consider the rules of TC as negatives, but they weren't a problem at all for us. Your wedding needs to be completely over by 9pm. We worked with this by starting our wedding at 2pm (ample time to party!) and by having our DJ announce our sparkler exit at about 8:45pm. You can only have beer, wine, and champagne (and you can't have any kegs). Also, the $3000 you pay is for a six-hour rental period only. After that, it is $100 for each extra hour. We had the wedding of our dreams at The Thursday Club, and I highly recommend it!!! -

Amanda Sent on 01/23/2013I didn't give the venue the highest rating, but we were VERY happy with this place. I really couldn't say the managers were particularly responsive or professional, per se, but they get the job done and the location is beautiful and it fit what we were looking for exactly. It was built in the 1920s and has lovely architectural details and a breathtaking view of the ocean. It has a home-y feel with a fireplace in one room, and a living room set-up in another room. It was a bit pricey, considering it doesn't come with anything except the ambiance, and you must bring in literally everything (the dining chairs they offer are horrid), but it's all pricey when it comes to a wedding, and for a similar venue, I guess it was priced equally. You can't do a lot of decorating, either, but it's really not needed here.
You need to do an afternoon wedding, because it's in a residential neighborhood and has a curfew for noise, all out by 9:30pm! We did a no-host after party down the hill in Point Loma. It worked out perfectly, got married in the garden. The managers seem very strict initially, and there are a lot of rules, but they were great on the wedding day!
We heard many comments about the beauty of the location. -

Ruthie Sent on 06/06/2011We fell in love with the beautiful gardens, view and reception venue of The Thursday Club as soon as we walked around it. One of my favorite things is that every single corner is as scenic as the next.
We had about 175 guests so it was a pretty large reception for the building but it did end up working out very well and did not feel cramped at all.
We had wanted to do a plated dinner but the small kitchen doors made it a better idea to do food stations, which worked out great by having one in the room with the fireplace and another on the patio in front.

My only complaint is that they do not communicate via email so I always had to leave a message and wait for a return phone call.
Also, the pix on the website do not do it justice.
