Wonderful June Wedding

Our experience with the Sugarplum Bakery for our wedding was amazing! The cake turned out beautiful and so unique – and also tasted amazing! From our initial tasting appointment all the way to cake cutting on our wedding day, Amanda and team were so helpful and a joy to work with. Highly recommend!

Amazing Bakery!!

Amanda and her team run an amazing bakery in Colorado Springs. My husband and I got our cutting cake and dessert bar from here and it was delicious! We got an almond cake with coconut frosting, and all of the guests were RAVING about it. Amanda was able to make it “naked” for me, but keep it moist enough. The dessert bar was an absolute hit with the guests - everyone loved it, and I loved that we were able to have such a variety of choices at such an affordable price!

Perfect, allergy friendly and just as imagined!

Our cake turned out perfect! We had an idea and it was executed so well. They were even able to make the top tier gluten-free as I am allergic, it was delicious! The cake was definitely a highlight or our wedding! Thank you so much! We appreciate the attention to detail!

Delicious!!

We ordered a two tier cake for my daughter and son-in-law’s wedding cake. I gave them a photo of the cake and they replicated it as closely as possible. They also make a German chocolate groom’s cake and chocolate covered strawberries for the reception. All were delivered on time, looked beautiful and were very delicious!!

Must Hire!

We worked with Sugarplum Cake Shoppe for our wedding. They had such good communication and were quick to help us set up our tasting. They were able to provide great tips on designing our cake and were very knowledgeable about flavor combinations and colors. They focused on even the smallest details from ensuring the color of the icing matched my dress to the colors of the display trays matching our wedding colors.

We did not only have a delicious wedding cake but we also had a variety of other desserts at our wedding. We offered cookies, pies (pumpkin and apple), cream puffs, flourless chocolate cake, and lemon bars. Everything was a HUGE hit. We received so many compliments on the desserts. I truly cannot say enough good things about them. They were professional, knowledgeable, easy to work with, very attentive to details, and very responsive. So thankful we had the opportunity to work with them for our wedding.

You will LOVE this cake

Wow. I wish I ate more of my wedding cake on wedding day because it was not only beautiful but also delicious! I really enjoyed working with Amanda, and she totally made my vision of the cake come true (simple, but with icing flowers). I very highly recommend SPCS!

Wedding Cake

We decided last minute that we wanted a small cake for our intimate ceremony and they did not disappoint! The lemon cake with cream cheese filling was absolutely amazing! They were so professional and worked well with us we were planning from out of town. Highly recommend!

Beautiful and delicious cake!

Our wedding cake was amazing! We worked with Amanda at our consultation and she helped us pick out a look for our cake. They ended up being able to replicate our reference photo perfectly! The cake was also very delicious and moist, and they were also able to make the different tiers different flavors which I really liked.

Elopement cake

Working with this bakery from out of state via email was surprisingly very easy. Cake met all my expectations and tasted very delicious. Cannot wait until our anniversary to eat the final slice. Definitely would recommend.

Delicious!

Staff was super friendly and welcoming. We booked our venue through Craftwood so this was their bakery that they consistently work with. The cake was melt in your mouth decadent. And we got 2 different flavors with our 2 layers!

My Favorite Bakery in Town!

Hands down, my FAVORITE bakery! I have yet to have something that I don't like. I am a wedding coordinator, so I've seen it all and I've tasted it all. Every time one of my clients hires Sugar Plum, I know I'm going to eat good on that day. Seriously, even on my days off I stop by the shop for a cupcake or three.

Beautiful Elopement cake

Sugarplum made my cake for my elopement. From the beginning it was a pleasant and easy experience. We made plans via email because we’re from Florida were traveling to the springs for our elopement. We even go to do a cake tasting a few days ahead! We went with a delicious vanilla cake with white chocolate strawberry filling. It was sooooo good! Amanda that presented the cake tasting was super friendly and we enjoyed our time with her. Thank you so much sugarplum (:

Wonderful Bakery - Great Staff

We enjoyed working with this bakery for our wedding. My matron of honor loved working with them as well for my bridal shower cake. The cake was absolutely delicious, and looks beautiful. It was able to take the summer heat, but stayed beautiful and fresh all day. Additionally, the bakery was able to add the cake stand to help with our presentation and decor. They follow-ed up with me all the time and checked in on our order on a regular basis to make sure that we did not want to make any changes - which we really appreciated. We look forward to getting our anniversary cake and reliving the delicious cake.

Scrumptious Tasting!!

YUM... so good, so pretty

1- The cake is DELICIOUS. We ordered the almond poppyseed (sooo good), and funfetti! Both were accommodated with ease and so tasty. Even the fondant, which I don't usually think is tasty at all, was delicious. I could eat a whole cake of their fondant. 2- Our wedding cake was beautiful! 3- The planning was so easy, we weren't quite sure what we wanted, and they made a beautiful cake from our half-baked ideas after a short and easy discussion.

DELICIOUS! If that doesn't sell you, you are getting a cake for the wrong reason! The Sugarplum staff was my easiest wedding vendor to work with; I had an initial taste test and consultation and they didn't miss the mark! We had an almond cake with white chocolate raspberry filling, that had a simple mountain scene. We also did a couple hundred mini cupcakes which were a huge hit! Chocolate with chocolate ganache , red velvet, vanilla with raspberry filling, and almond with white chocolate raspberry filling. Our guests raved about how tasty both the cake and cupcakes were. I would highly recommend Sugarplum Cake Shoppe!

Perfect Wedding Cake

Sugarplum Cake Shoppe made my wedding cake/cupcakes a few days ago.. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. There were four different flavors of cupcakes, and each one was as delicious as the next. They were perfect size, and were very moist and tasty. Each of the flavors was present, and they looked beautiful. The cupcakes had the perfect amount of buttercream on top and the perfect amount of filling. However, I will say that the small one tier wedding cake was by far the best. That cake has been the most delicious cake I have ever eaten in my life!!!! My husband was a little apprehensive to the semi-naked cake design, but honestly it made the cake better. With the light buttercream on the outside and the perfectly flavored lemon cake and strawberry filling, it was a match made in heaven. I'm thankful for not only the wonderful cakes, but the professionalism, amazing customer service, and the family friendly atmosphere. I will definitely be back for years to come!!!!

Beautiful, detailed, and delicious!

Sugarplum Cake Shoppe did an amazing job! The tasting was fun and we didn’t feel rushed or pressured. Everything was so delicious it was hard to choose in the end. Our wedding cake was gorgeous and the colors matched the swatches we gave them so well! They also worked with me in secret to make a groom’s cake in the shape of a tank. They did a great job on all of those details. Everyone we worked with was friendly and professional and it was nice that we could also rent a cake stand so that we didn’t have to buy one.

Great Wedding Cake!

The Sugarplum Cake Shoppe made our wedding cake and it was excellent. The staff member who helped us create our cake design understood exactly what we were visualizing. We really loved the way the cake looked.

We also asked for a small gluten free cake because I have some relatives and friends with gluten allergies. It was inexpensive, pretty and it tasted decent.

I also recommend you try out their lemon cake options. We had so many guests asking for leftover cake!

We searched long and hard to find a bakery that made beautiful cakes that also tasted good...and we knew we had found it when we got to Sugarplum. The entire staff was so helpful and accommodating, and our guests raved about the cake. It was absolutely delicious, and our cake was 100% exactly what we wanted. Could not have been happier!

Absolutely amazing! We ordered a beautiful 3-tier Tiffany blue wedding cake with only about a month of notice. Sugarplum was able to fulfill my order (even though it was so last minute) and it was everything I could have ever dream of! It was phenomenal and all of our guests loved it! Amanda did an amazing job on our cake! We found this neat design (a white cake with a large autumn tree) on Pinterest that I showed Amanda during our cake testing. She expressed how excited she was to make this cake. She called me the week before our wedding to let us know that she already had called our reception vendor to set up a time to deliver the cake. I loved how well she communicated with not only me, but with our reception vendor! When I arrived at the reception location, my husband (!) rushed me over to the cake. Wow! It was fabulous! It looked just like what we wanted and it tasted AMAZING! Everyone went on and on about how good the cake was! Lucky for us, we have some extra that we get to eat over this next week :)! Future brides: If you want a perfect cake with no extra stress, this is the place for you!

The reason Amanda has 5 stars is because she knows what she is doing. Our cake was the biggest hit, every single person who had cake said it was the best tasting cake they had ever had. She kept my design simple per my request, she made it tall like I wanted and it was classically perfect.

Amanda was wonderful to work with and made us a beautiful custom design based on our wedding theme. The sketch was perfect and the actual cake looked almost identical.

Amanda has worked a lot with the venue and my DOC, so delivery and set up was a very smooth process.

Oh, and the cake was delicious too!!

Our experience with Sugar Plum Cake Shoppe was awesome from start to finish. For the cake tasting we brought 4 people with us and Amanda had a plate for each one of us with a bunch of different flavors. They have amazing customer service and extremely good tasting cake. When we saw our finished cake for the first time at the reception we were so excited. It was gorgeously decorated and just what we wanted. Also the person who set up our table did a really good job too. I would definitely recommend this cake shop to anyone. We had a couple bad experiences with other cake shops and by far this one "takes the cake" for the best.

The ladies there were super nice and I was so glad we did a tasting. We would have picked totally different stuff had we not gone in and stuffed ourselves with sugar. (Anything would have been good but...the peanut butter and chocolate was very popular.)
They created something totally unique and adorable for our pirate wedding and, from what I hear, it went over very well! It was ALL gone. As a secondary surprise, we discovered that our topper was also a rice krispie treat! We ate that for days and it was delicious. Everything was edible on our cake and we were finding details later that we never even noticed. I hope to go back for our anniversary and get another cake!

Amanda and Sugarplum Cake Shoppe completely exceeded my expectations for our wedding cake! We chose a square buttercream design with silver dragees and it just looked so perfect - much better technique than any other shop we looked at in the area. The cake tasted fantastic, and our guests loved it!

Amanda and her staff made the perfect wedding cake for us! We had a unique theme that we wanted her to incorporate for our cake with cupcakes, and she was so easy to work with, letting us do whatever we wanted to do! She went out of her way to make sure the colors matched exactly with our wedding colors, let us choose several different flavors for our cupcakes, and even let us borrow some of her set up materials to present the cake nicely! It turned out beautiful. This was one of our favorite details to the wedding - and our guests absolutely loved the taste!

Amanda worked with us for planning our cake. She helped us select a lovely cake for us to cut and cupcakes for the guests. They took care of all the set up. Amanda with Sugarplum Cake Shoppe was wonderful to work with. We ended up having a small cake for the cake cutting ceremony and then had cupcakes. The flowers for the wedding were sunflowers so she designed some of the cupcakes to look like sunflowers. It was a wonderful added touch to the cake table.

SugarPlum was absolutely wonderful. They were flexible with meeting times prior to the wedding as well as the cake itself. They accommodated our personalized requests and Amanda, the owner, was extremely helpful in creating our cake. I had a few ideas and Amanda really helped us nail down exactly what we wanted to do. My husband wanted a truck on the groom's cake, so they made a 3D replica of his F250 with stacks & mudflaps and all! they were on time to the wedding and set everything up. I would highly recommend them! Also, they are very reasonably priced. I was on a pretty tight budget, and they had the best cake selection, most flexibility & personalization, and lowest price (I compared several cake shops). they also don't have a minimum amount for your order, so it's very flexible to your budget!

Amanda did such a great job on our wedding cake! She was so sweet and took the time to draw sketches and talk through our ideas with us. Our cake looked amazing and tasted just as good! Amanda was also very flexible - there was a last minute change with our reception venue regarding what time the cake could be dropped off, and Amanda was more than willing to change plans and make sure that there wasn't any stress for the bride and groom. Our cake looked perfect for our fall wedding, and Amanda helped to make our special day everything we had hoped for.

We had the most wonderful experience with Sugarplum Cake Shoppe. On the day of our consultation, there was a lovely table set with samples of every cake and every frosting they make, along with waters for both of us. Most importantly, there were samples of their gluten free selections (serious allergy in the family). The gluten free was so delicious, we agreed to just go with 100% gluten free for the entire thing! Her professionalism and knowledge were so wonderful and she created Exactly what we wanted, down to every decorative detail. We got so many compliments at our reception and nobody could even tell it was gluten free, it was so delicious. I plan on ordering more cupcakes for other events!

Amanda from the Sugarplum Cake Shoppe did a wonderful job on our wedding cake! Our first impression was made during the cake tasting. She was prepared with many different cake and filling flavors for us to sample, and took notes for us during the tasting about our preferences. She worked with us to find a cake design that was within our budget.
Our cake turned out beautifully! We received many compliments from our wedding guests, and even our DJ (who has seen a lot of wedding cakes), said it was one of the prettiest cakes he had ever seen!
I did not do a whole lot of "shopping" when it came to a cake vendor, we found Amanda because she was recommended by our caterer, but it seems her prices are comparable to other cake shops in town. We also enjoyed being able to select an unlimited number of cake flavors for no extra charge :)

Unforeseen circumstances with the lady originally contracted to bake our wedding cake landed us in The Sugar Plum Cake Shoppe and in the care of Amanda and her crew. Although we were apprehensive at first; after our first meeting with Amanda and being able to taste her delicious cakes we soon realized we had nothing to fear but fear itself! ^_^* Amanda was very friendly, reasonable, and easy to work with. Like any brides to be- we had a vision of our perfect cake and that vision was met with genuine interest and enthusiasm. Together all three of us were able to come up with a cake that took our dream and enhanced it magnificently! In the end our cake turned out better than we could have ever anticipated! It looked so amazing that we were faced with mixed emotions; we didn’t want to cut it but we also couldn’t WAIT to eat it!!! Our cake consisted of three off centered tiers with six different colored layers, the red was red velvet, the pink- strawberry, the yellow-lemon, and the green, blue and purple were all almond poppy seed topped with a very subtle buttercream that was so smooth it created the precision of fondant and every bite was just as mouth watering as the last! Once the first piece was cut and served people started commenting on how absolutely delicious it REALLY was!! It was so tasty and unique we barely had enough to feed everyone; even guests that RARELY or NEVER ate wedding cake or cake in general were commenting on how amazing it was. Amanda knows cakes. You can be confident that when you hire her for your wedding your tastebuds will not be the only ones raving about your incredible experience- we sure aren’t the only ones who can’t stop talking about how extremely beautiful and scrumptious it was! ♥♥

Amanda did an amazing job on our wedding cake!!

She was so easy and professional to work with, so skilled in capturing and creating our vision for a cake, and so helpful in figuring out a cake option that would fit our price range. The cake that she made for our wedding was beautiful!

Best of all, Amanda's cakes are absolutely delicious - a wonderful, moist cake, great flavor options, and perfect frosting! My favorite flavor combinations that we had in our cake were her almond cake with rasberry filling, chocolate cake with vanilla bavarian cream filling, and carrot cake with cream cheese filling.

I cannot recommend Sugarplum Cake Shoppe and Amanda highly enough! From the first time we met with her we knew that we would be in good hands. She is very professional and has a creative flair that helped us create the perfect cake for us. Amanda worked with us on putting together a couple of flavor combinations that will be long time favorites. She also had great suggestions for decorating. On the day of the cake was delivered on time and looked exactly as we pictured. The cake was perfectly prepared....light and very moist with the flavors just as expected. Sugarplum also delivered a far distance for us, roughly 60 miles (yes there was a fee for this). All pricing was in line with (or less in some cases) all of the other bakers we considered.
We have become big fans and will use their services as long as we are in Colorado Springs!

I am so happy I chose Sugarplum Cake Shoppe to do our wedding cake! We visited quite a few bakeries in the search of the perfect cake, and after our consultation with Amanda, we knew she was who we wanted to bake our cake. I brought in pictures of different cake designs I liked and after deciding on an initial design, we scheduled a time to come back so she could do a mock-up of what we discussed. After seeing the mock-up, we all decided it wasn't quite coming out like we wanted, so she suggested a different design and was able to show us what that would look like that same day. It turned out absolutely beautiful and it was delicious too! I have received multiple comments on how amazing our wedding cake was and I am so happy we choose to work with Amanda. The cake was amazing and the customer service was a joy. The cake testing was awesome their assortment of flavors was impressive. She was able to understand what we wanted and delivered an amazing cake.

Their cakes have numerous thin layers of filling and cake which set her cakes apart from the others we sampled. Also her fondant was tasty and didn't have the chalky bitter after taste many bakeries' fondant has.

Sugarplum did an absolutely beautiful job with our wedding cake! From the initial tasting to designing to delivery, they were amazing, and our guests loved it. The bakery crafted the semi-naked design with succulents and fresh berries so well, and we wish we could've gotten to eat more! The mocha-flavored cake is to die for, and the chocolate ganache filling was on point. They also were so kind in accommodating us when we requested a small gluten-free option for guests, as well. You can't go wrong with Sugarplum!

Wonderful cakes! Amanda is the best to work with and was super helpful in picking out flavors, sizes, etc. The only smallish complaint I have is when I would call the business, not everyone had the corporate knowledge as to what I was asking for which created some changes to our original order. Once I touched base with Amanda it was easily straightened out, but my advice is to only verify counts, etc with the person you worked with. That said, the end result was perfect which is the important part!!

Our cake was beautiful and exactly as requested, BUT, it was a little lopsided. The cake table was near the fireplace so the cake got more lopsided as the evening progressed. We got a lot of great feedback about our cake and cupcakes, and I didn't get to see the final product until we made it into our reception but I LOVED it!! We were having a mountain/Aspen tree themed wedding and we wanted to have a small cake topper designed like a piece of an Aspen tree with our initials "carved" into the side. They NAILED it! Instead of a full tiered cake, we went with cupcakes for our guests and and had 3 different flavors, so the baker made 3 different colors of sugar aspen "leaves" to put on the top of each so the guests would be able to pick their own flavor. It was a huge hit!

The only complaint I would have was that the communication wasn't so great - I was trying to get the owner to help us with a cupcake stand that would look like it was made out of aspen tree pieces and she said in the consultation that it was something she could probably arrange with their handyman, so I put that off my mind until the wedding got closer. About 2 months out, I tried to reach out to her again to see how it was coming along, and I called twice and even stopped in the shop in person to ask about it, and was told "she'll get back to you" and she never did. I finally sent an e-mail through their website contact form, and I got a response, but it was the owner informing me that unfortunately stands with wooden/natural pieces is the one design they can't do because it attracts pests in the shop (which I understand, but it would've been nice to know several months back so I wasn't counting on it, and now had to come up with another option last minute).

Otherwise, the cake design was just perfect for us, and the cake and cupcakes were delicious!! I would recommend this to another bride, and just make sure they are very specific with what they want up front to make sure it's all taken care of ahead of time.

Amanda did an amazing job with our wedding cake and cupcakes!! She was very easy to work with and thoroughly outlined our cake design and details in our initial meeting. Her and her team delivered and set-up everything on the day of the event. The guests raved about the cake and cupcakes! It was absolutely delicious.Very light and flavorful. I couldn't be happier with their services!!!

Amanda did a great job with our wedding cake. I did find it difficult at times to get return phone calls but when I did finally get ahold of her, she was prompt with my requests. Most importantly the cake was delicious

Amanda is a very nice lady and she did a wonderful job with my cake. She made exactly what I wanted. She was very helpful with the decision making when I was being indecisive and gave her opinions where necessary. Her cakes are very moist and tasty.

Amanda Adams was recommended to me by the USAFA Falcon Club catering supervisor. Not only was the cake exactly what I wanted but every flavor I ordered was delicious! I was so pleased with the final product. My sister was married in Highlands Ranch, CO the previous year and I was somewhat worried that my cake would dry out as quickly as hers did once it was cut but I was so surprised that the cake that had been cut and sent home with us after the reception was still moist the next day! I would definitely recommend Amanda to anyone looking for a reasonably priced, yet delicious cake/confection in the Colorado Springs area.

I am a BIG cake person, so the cake was very important to me for my wedding. Amanda and Sugarplum Cake Shoppe exceeded my expectations. I wanted awesome taste so I went with buttercream instead of fondant. The buttercream at Sugarplum was to die for. Just sweet enough, just creamy enough, not too thick... But I was worried about how it would look. The cake turned out beautiful, buttercream looked just like fondant to me.
The cake itself was so moist and so delicious and the fillings were the perfect amounts. I went to a lot of tastings and Sugarplum really had the best tasting. They went out of their way to get us all options we needed to taste, had a brilliant way of doing it, and answered all our questions. I got exactly what I wanted in look and taste for a reasonable price. Amanda was so sweet and helpful and easy to work with. If you like coconut, do the coconut cake with coconut filling!!!
I highly recommend Sugarplum Cake Shoppe to any bride.

Small Colorado Wedding

We ordered a 3-tier cake for our wedding. They did a great job with the detailing on the cake and on the sugar flowers. They were able to take photos of multiple different cakes and replicate the look for each of the different tiers. The two tiers that we had at the wedding tasted great and we can't wait to try the third tier on our anniversary. We had marbled cake, white with fresh blueberries, and the white with hazelnut.

I will be recommending Sugarplum Cake Shoppe to EVERYONE for any cake needs! Obviously tasting their cakes was fun, but Sugarplum did an incredible job making my wedding cake; it was exactly what I wanted! The staff was friendly and helpful and made me feel at ease about the "cake" item on my to-do checklist. I chose the delivery option and the cake was delivered and setup beautifully without any glitches (something every bride prays for on her wedding!). My most favorite part about Sugarplum Cake Shoppe, though, was that they encouraged me to buy about a third of the amount of cake that I thought I needed and they were RIGHT ON. We ended up taking home half of the bottom tier of the cake and my guests RAVED about how good it tasted! I am so impressed that Sugarplum knew how much cake people were likely to eat based on what else I was serving, the time of year, and I guess just years of experience to be such cake experts! I'm equally impressed with a business that will down-sell a customer - for the good of the customer! I fully intend to return to Sugarplum Cake Shoppe for all of my cake needs!

We got a four tiered cake, each tier a different flavor, and then cupcakes of each flavor plus gluten free cupcakes. The design was so pretty and it was exactly as we had talked about and how I wanted it to be. Amanda was flexible with us and got some cupcake display stands for us with less than a week to go before the wedding. My husband and sister in law were the ones who went and did the tastings and decided on all the flavors, and I didn't get to eat much cake at the wedding, so I don't really know how good the cake was, but my husband and his sister raved about how yummy all their cake flavors were and about all the different flavor/filling/icing combos there were. I definitely would recommend them.

We enjoyed the consultations/tastings and were surprised at the number of flavor options -- there are many! Throughout the process, we did experience delays in communication, and the day of the wedding we were surprised to see one of the colors used was incorrect. Overall, the taste was good and we received compliments on the details.

Our wedding cake was very good, moist, and looked great! Amanda had the best price for the type of cake we were looking for and was willing to customize the cake anyway we wanted.

I cannot give them 5/5 stars in all areas because there seems to be a severe lack of communication within the shop. First, our initial consultation paperwork was "lost" within the office, so when we went back to place our order, we had to go through the entire order break-down again. Amanda was gracious and apologetic for the mistake, but it should not have happened. Also, when I called with questions regarding our order, no one can answer them. I continually get the response, "Amanda will have to call you back" but she never does. Although I am very happy with the cake and our guests raved about how good it was, I have little patience for unprofessionalism.
