This Bridal Shop is like no other.

This Bridal Shop is truly unique! So beautifully decorated that you know immediately Melissa is incredibly talented.
I haven't purchased anything from this shop yet, but Melissa has sewn for me in the past. Everything she ever created for me made me look my best!
If I ever need formal wear in the future I know exactly where to go.

    Beyond Expectations

I was a terrible bride and bought a dress WAY too small because I'm an idiot and I thought it might be a lost cause but the ladies at The Perfect Stitch made it happen! My dress was beautiful!! They were so accommodating and reassuring. Seriously could not be happier with the results. Thank you so much!

The ladies at the Perfect Stitch were fantastic in remaking my grandma's dress. From the moment I walked in I felt right at home. It was so nice not to worry at all about my dress through all the wedding planning. They had it all under control and each visit was a fun surprise of what new things they had done to clean up and make this dress my own. So thankful for their kind and excellent service!!

She was SUPER easy to work with. I bought my dress online from a different venue and they were able to alter it perfectly! Start ASAP, as if you wait for the last minute it could be more expenssive. Very reasonable prices! Jon VERY well done! She suggested a new zipper, so it wouldn't break the day of the wedding. So thoughtful, never pushes, and work is done on time as promised!!

On a frigid Saturday in early 2014, my friend (bridesmaid) and I visited The Perfect Stitch on a whim after a friend of ours had Melissa make her a wedding dress last summer. That day, I found the most beautiful dress and bought it - but the catch was that it wasn't what I wanted for my wedding. Over the course of the next few months, the gals at The Perfect Stitch transformed my dress into an absolute dream. They built out the top so it would fit me but still look like it was made that way, took the hem up to a tea length, and helped me find the perfect vintage (both actual vintage and newly made) accessories. They also helped me make some decisions and come back to see it again when I wasn't sure if I'd made the right ones. Whether you're looking for a wedding dress or need alterations on what you already have, I highly recommend The Perfect Stitch! They also have a stock of consignment dresses that is always changing, so it wouldn't hurt to visit a few times and keep looking. The affordability of getting a dress on consignment cannot be beat, and I couldn't have been happier with the final product.

My experience with Melissa and Tonya was fabulous. I found a dress in the shop that I fell in love with and after trying it on, knew it was "the one". After changing our wedding plans several times and losing a large amount of weight requiring more alterations than originally thought, they gave me my dream dress. My dress fit perfectly after being taken in, my bustle looked beautiful and preserved the features of the dress, and it was done on time. I couldn't have asked for a better vendor to work with!

I can't say enough great things about The Perfect Stitch! Melissa and Tonya were absolute joys to work with. I would recommend them to anyone searching for alterations. Melissa and Tonya met with me on 6 separate occassions before my wedding day. I couldn't have been happier with the way the gown turned out. They were extremely experienced, knowledgeable, professional and kind. There were no hidden fees and they were willing to go above and beyond to make sure I was going to look and feel my best on the big day. You won't be disappointed at The Perfect Stitch!

Choosing someone to alter your wedding dress can be so nerve racking. The fear that someone could ruin the most important piece of clothing you will ever wear weighed heavily on my mind. As soon as I met Melissa, all my fear subsided. She made me feel so relaxed and confident in her ability to make my dress fit me perfectly. And she delivered. In addition to doing a fabulous job on my dress, she sent personalized cards that made me feel very special. Not many businesses have a personal touch like that and it meant a lot. I highly recommend The Perfect Stitch!

I found The Perfect Stitch here on weddingwire. I came in later than recommended to get alterations thinking I needed one simple thing done to my dress. Well I hadn't tried my dress on in a year so I needed more than I thought. However, they never pressured me into any alterations. Suggestions were made and I agreed. The place is very quaint and welcoming. They altered my dress on time and it looked awesome. At my final fitting we "played" around in my dress taking lots of fun pictures. It was a good time. I will take my dress back for cleaning and preservation.

I really did love working with The Perfect Stitch. They were extremely nice and very detail and they very hard. I thought they were a bit pricey for some of the services I wanted but I could have done WAY worse. They do really really good work and I hope that I can find a reason to work with them in the future!

Pros: I was very impressed with the Perfect Stitch. The shop itself was so comforting and welcoming. The ladies, Melissa and Susan, were wonderful. They were funny and pleasant---made this part of the process a lot easier for me. As for the prices, I had never had anything altered before and before I found them, I compared prices with others and was very happy with what I paid for what I got. She built in an undergarment so I wouldn’t have so many layers. She added the bustle, some extra for my girls, pressed the veil and dress for a reasonable price. I don’t want to list what I paid mainly because every dress is different so it might not be what I paid. I was in when another bride was finishing up. Melissa was helping the bride recreate her grandmother’s and mother’s dress to be her own. All three women were there and it looked wonderful.

Cons: Like Sweet Tooth (baker), I really don’t have any cons. They were down to earth, affordable, quirky---everything I appreciated for one of the most stressful times and that’s making the dress was beautiful.

I brought my bought somewhere else wedding dress to this seamstress.
The women at this place are great. They are so friendly and helpful. I had bought a designer dress in a size 12 off the rack (because it was A LOT cheaper) I'm a size 3 in dresses. I took my wedding dress to the Perfect stitch and they did a great job sizing down my dress. I had many layers and a ton of bead work, so it wouldn't have been an easy task.

Since the dress had been tried on by many brides they also cleaned the dress and added criddlen and a bra to the dress. Having to wear less layers is cooler and breezer than having to wear more layers under a large dress.

All I would say would be to call and confirm your schedule time. We did have a mix up twice with the time I was to be there for fittings. I can't say that it was their fault, I could have been wrong. But I had put the times in my phone as I book my next appointments in person. But who knows

I live in Georgia and had the wedding here, but bought my dress in Indiana, I'll even send my dress back to Indiana to be cleaned by them because I know their work is good and I trust them.

My alterations were very well done by the Perfect Stitch. Mine were more costly due to the fabric of my dress, but they turned out beautifully. I did have to travel for several fittings that I wish could have been condensed, but the end product was worth it.

The Perfect Stitch altered my wedding dress in 2012. They were easy to make appointments with and prompt, but I did feel that additional alterations when I only wanted one simple alteration were pushed on me. It seemed to me that the owner didn't mind taking advantage of pre-wedding insecurities that my dress was tight when it was not, telling me that I needed cup implants that did nothing to improve the look of the dress, etc. I let myself be pushed into alterations that I think in the end hurt the look of the dress. The simple alteration that I wanted came out well, but there seemed to be some communication issues, possibly, about extraneous changes.

Overall I would not recommend the Perfect Stitch. Their prices were high and the quality of work done was poor. The heem was not even and the reshaping of the breast area was poorly done. There was a metal piece that stuck into my side that they said they could not fix. I would not go back here.

Honestly, the ladies at the Perfect Stitch were very nice. However, they did take my dress in way too much at the top. They also messed up my hemline, but they did fix it overnight, which I appreciated.

They left loose threads at the top of my dress, and it was really just shoddily done for the $400 I paid them. Luckily, two of my bridesmaids were able to move the hook over the night before my wedding and I still have all of my ribs.

My daughter had them alter her wedding dress. They did the alterations perfect and dress fit great, but I was not impressed on how they treated us as paying customers. At the second fitting, the seamstress was rude and frankly acted like we were putting her out--as I (Mother of the Bride) wanted to take a few quick photos since this was the first time I saw my daughter in her dress. After a little while, she must have realized how she was presenting herself and she seemed to mellow. If you want alterations done--they did it (since we are from out of town-not sure how good of value it is) but if you want personality--I would go somewhere else. So hopefully the personable service will return-because it needs to feel more welcoming during these once in a lifetime moments.

Let me first say that I never write reviews for any reason, be it good or bad. I'm more of an onlooker, absorbing what I can. I went to The Perfect Stitch last year in preparation for my summer 2014 wedding. I came in with a $5,000 Kleinfeld bridal dress that was much to large. Was the alteration done? Yes. Was it done on time? Yes. Was it done effectively? No. On the DAY OF my wedding, my bridesmaids were buttoning up the back of my dress when SEVERAL buttons fell to the floor. My bridesmaids withheld this information from me until later in the day, as not to upset me. It seemed that all 30+ buttons were sewn back on using the SAME thread. Therefore, when one started popping off, they all started popping off! To make matters worse, my bustle broke immediately following the ceremony. Mind you, this was an OUTDOOR wedding. Needless to say, my dress was covered in grass stains. Was that to be expected? Yes, but only minimally, because AGAIN, the bustle was supposed to do its job of keeping my train from DRAGGING. The quality of the final alterations was not up to par, nor is it a service I would recommend. Poor quality, lazy seamstress.

It is very difficult for me to comment negatively, but I would never want a bride to endure the extreme difficulties I experienced with the Perfect Stitch. While I think every person deserves the benefit of the doubt, I have sad and hurtful memories as I did not feel beautiful liked I had always dreamed of on my wedding day. I came to Melissa to have my mother's dress from 1985 be redesigned for my wedding day. This was very important to my mother and I wanted to share that experience with her, while still feeling the my absolute best on my day. In short, Melissa was very argumentative, never met deadlines, and ultimately could not deliver hat she had promised. I did not see my dress completed in its entirety until 3 days before my wedding and I had it to her 10 months prior. We had to make at least 6 trips to the shop, which is adorable, but I dreaded it because each time I left more and more upset. I cannot express enough how sad it makes me to think that the one day every bride should get to feel like the most beautiful girl in the world...I did not. I do not write this to be cruel, I just never would want a bride who dreams of all the details her entire life, to not be able to have that on her special day.

    Brides beware!

First of all let me start by saying, go elsewhere! Save yourself money, disappointment, and unnecessary stress. I brought my dress in to have alterations done; Minor things such as sleeve length and hem length. The dress was long sleeve and short. Melissa was very standoffish, distracted and in a rush from the get go. She sloppily pinned my left sleeve and asked if that length was “ok” to which I agreed yes. No measurements were taken and she was “finished” communicating with me in about 4 minutes. I proceeded to choose a sash for my dress as an added piece. I was told the entire amount of over $200 was due now, no exceptions. Against my gut feeling I paid the total due (overpriced alterations and sash) left my dress behind, and trusted that it would be fine. I went to a “final fitting” appointment a few weeks later and on the hanger it looked fine. I put my dress on and the sleeves were about 3 inches too short…………the back was pulling across the shoulders as well…………an after effect of disaster sleeve alteration =( All she could say was, “I did what you wanted me to do”………….The designer of the dress wanted it that way and you should’ve left it alone. Wow. Really. I am not a seamstress but I do know the difference between 1 inch and 3 inches.
They never attached the sash, per my request, because at this point I can’t even wear the dress and had to order a completely different dress that I needed to wear in 2 weeks! I went to pick up my dress as is and call it a day, expecting she would at least refund the money for the unused sash and the money she charged to “attach” it. Nope, she offered the most sarcastic “I’m sorry you’re not happy with what I did” and shrugged her shoulders. I didn’t even ask for a refund of the alterations, but at least be a decent human and refund the services you didn’t even perform!
Melissa was rude and insulting. She is absolutely the most selfish and unprofessional person I’ve ever done business with. She was featured on 90-day fiance’ and you can see the unprofessionalism for yourself in the episode.
After taking my new dress to another seamstress and speaking with a few other privately owned places in the surrounding area of Indianapolis, I quickly learned that “A Perfect Stitch” has some nasty ways of doing business and that I’m not alone………….it’s sad when other professionals warn you after the fact. I wish I would’ve done a bit more digging and research before stepping into that dreadful situation. I felt it necessary to write this review in hopes that I save another bride from this trap.

I have never interacted with someone as rude, snide, condescending, and overtly unprofessional in her approach with clients as Melissa from the Perfect Stitch. I live out of town, so I had asked my wedding planner and my mom to meet with Melissa on two different occasions. In both instances they were treated beyond poorly. As soon as my mother stepped into the store she was approached with the rudeness, snideness, and the same overall poor treatment that my wedding planner received.

Melissa treated us like we are idiots who should be grateful to even have her working on our dress, and even made comments like "you can go somewhere else, but you'll have to bring it back here for me to fix it once they mess it up," and "anyone else will ruin this dress," and "you'll get what you pay for." My mom was so upset she passed the phone over to me at some point, and I have to say I have never been spoken to by someone as coldly as I was by this woman. As a small business owner myself - I can't imagine ever speaking to clients in this way and still remaining in business. Since I've interacted with her, I've not heard one positive comment or congratulations or indication that she actually cares about the people whose lives she is impacting on such an important day. She only talks about protocol and being paid - even asking $145 just to store the dress until I get into town and hold my precious spot in her waiting line.

Ultimately - we decide to take our business elsewhere... and it wasn't about the money. I didn't want to have to spend one more minute, or make any of my loved ones spend one more minute, with someone so lacking in tact, manners, and respect for others. She might be a good tailor, but she is not professional, and is actually even hurtful.

If "we get what we pay for," I'd like to pay for someone who can share the joy and levity of this special moment in my life. I do NOT recommend anyone take their services here.

I had my heart set on a custom dress for my wedding. The perfect stitch seem to afford quality dresses at affordable prices. Sadly, my wedding dress ended up being my biggest regret.

I contact TPS about five months prior to my wedding and asked if they could make a dress for me. I sent sketches and pictures of what I wanted and was told it wouldn't be a problem.

At my first consultation my measurements were taken and Melissa also offered to make me a custom corset "with the same lace material as my dress" it was going to cost $125 but she promised it would be an heirloom.

My wedding dress was suppose to be around $600 after two "consultations" I finally saw an outline of the dress (cotton mock, not the real thing) and realized it wasn't the right form. In order to change it to what I originally wanted she charged me an additional $250. I paid because it was a month away from the wedding and I was still hopeful that the dress would look beautiful. Two weeks before the wedding I still hadn't even tried on the actual dress. The day before the wedding I finally got to try on the dress BUT there were still alterations that needed to be made. That's right--I didn't get my wedding dress until the DAY of my wedding.

She also had her assistant call to complain that I had "waited too long" to pay my final $125 (even though the dress wasn't even near finished). She made snide comments at my mother because she didn't start to cry when I tried on the dress (probably b/c it looked BAD and my mom was pissed).

Finally, on the day of my wedding I went to get my dress. I did a final fitting w/the corset she had made...the corset was too big. She tried to pin it up so that it would fit that day but it provided NO support. It was basically as if I was braless.

And the promise that it would be the same lace as my dress was not true. She used completely different material. And to top it off, the "hooks" she used were just thread so no surprised it broke before I even got to the venue and was able to wear it, it was basically useless.

The dress itself looked like cheap lace, it was rough and looked horrible. I was embarrassed to wear it but had no other options.

It's taken me over a year to write this because it makes me sick to my stomach to think about how horrible I looked and felt.

Additionally, Melissa was very condescending and plain unprofessional. If I could change anything about my wedding experience it would be the dress. Truly, I would have been happier finding a dress at any other store.

AND this wasn't a you get what you pay for situation--I spent almost $1000 on this attire and that is poor quality that I received.

PLEASE if you must have a custom gown--go somewhere else! And have an airtight contract of services and a plan B.
