I have nothing but the most amazing things to say about Events at Independence Grove and Catering by Michael's! This venue is absolutely beautiful and made for the perfect wedding ceremony and reception. Our coordinator, Tiffany, was super helpful and was a big part in making sure our wedding day went smoothly and according to plan. All of our guests would not stop talking about how incredible the venue was and how great the food, dessert, and late night food was! I am so happy we picked this for our wedding! -

From the very beginning, Tiffany (our Event Coordinator) was the definition of professionalism- organized, responsive and one of our biggest cheerleaders throughout the planning process. Her communication was seamless and prompt, which made the months leading up to our wedding completely stress-free. We trusted her and her team wholeheartedly, and they delivered beyond anything we could have imagined. On the big day, we were absolutely blown away by how beautiful and perfectly executed our ceremony and reception spaces were. Every detail was thoughtfully considered, and the quality of service was truly out of this world. Tiffany and her team brought our vision to life with such care and excellence, we can't thank them enough for making our day so magical. -

Beautiful Venue, Helpful Staff, and Amazing Food!
Our experience having our wedding at Independence Grove was amazing! Everything from the food to the staff was absolutely perfect. We did not hire a wedding planner, which could have been stressful, but our Event Coordinator, Beth, made things very easy for us. She herself was also planning her own wedding, so she understood the stress of it all. She was extremely helpful and kind throughout the whole process. We would definitely recommend her to anyone!
We loved having the golf cart before the ceremony so that we could take pictures all over the forest preserve. We especially liked taking photos in the garden area. We used the outside patio and Audubon Hall for our ceremony and reception respectively; it was absolutely gorgeous! Having a 6pm ceremony, the sunset hit over the lake right at cocktail hour. It was stunning.
Overall, if you're looking for a fantastic venue with gorgeous forest preserve photos and excellent food, we would definitely recommend Events at Independence Grove! -

Picking a wedding venue is a huge step in the planning process and after touring Events at Independence Grove the decision was quite easy. The grounds of the venue and Audubon Hall are absolutely beautiful. The sun shining off the lake and the well-kept natural grounds made the outdoor areas truly exquisite. Audubon Hall had large windows overlooking the lake and grounds making for a great view during your Ceremony if it is held inside. We cannot speak highly enough of our event coordinator Beth Jacoby. She made the planning process extremely easy assisting with timelines, giving advice where needed, and helping to send reminders for deadlines. Beth and the entire staff assisted with every little detail during the big day and ensured everything went smoothly. The staff was friendly, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. The food was beyond delicious and all of our guests couldn’t stop talking about it. We have absolutely no regrets after picking this venue and were extremely satisfied. -

We knew Independence Grove would be our venue as soon as we stepped foot on the grounds, and we’re so happy to say that the Events and Catering by Michael teams did not disappoint! Even though we had to move our ceremony indoors from the Native Garden to Audubon Hall due to weather, the ceremony space was stunning, and the staff turned the room around without issue. The food was also a hit. Guests were RAVING about the duck quesadilla hors d'oeuvre, the skirt steak entrée, the late-night snack hot dog stand, etc. We’ve also got to shout out Beth for her fantastic communication and tireless work with us and our wedding planner to ensure all details were addressed. We had a lot of declines and cancellations due to Covid and economic concerns, but the Events team never made us feel like our event was less important. We can safely say we had the cozy, romantic Fall wedding of our dreams at Independence Grove! -

Beautiful Views, Phenomenal Food, & Incredible Service
My husband and I got engaged in 2019 and quickly booked Independence Grove for a July 2020 wedding. We were blown away by the obvious beauty of the place as well as the customer service. Marta Mardosz was absolutely phenomenal in helping our planning. She was always so quick to respond to our emails in the beginning stages, and once COVID hit months before our wedding, was so accommodating in the postponement process. She was always very open and honest with us, and when she didn’t have an immediate answer (as no one did during that time), she would research and get back to us. When we decided in May 2020 to postpone our reception until May 2021, Marta was so patient with us as everything was constantly changing. She and her service team did a great job setting all of our decorations when the day finally came, and was THE BEST on the day of. When a prom group tried to take pictures near our ceremony space, she was quick to make sure they moved so we could have our shots for our day. She was always checking on us throughout the day to make sure everything was perfect- and it was! Another huge stand out was their food. We received endless compliments on our cocktail hour and dinner choices. The beauty of Independence Grove will grab your attention right away and make you fall in love, but the service is what truly made this vendor standout among our others throughout this entire process. -

Best venue ever!
My husband and I could not have made a better decision for ourselves than getting married at Independence Grove. We got married here 06/05/21 and our friends and family are STILL raving that it was the best wedding they have ever been too. For one, the grounds are absolutely unbeatable. Breathtaking views and perfect photo opportunities anywhere you turn. We did our ceremony in the Native Garden and it was what we always dreamed of. The cocktail hour on the veranda was picturesque. The bartenders for cocktail hour were situated where guests would order their drinks and have a stunning view of the lake at the same time. The Audubon hall features floor length windows that gave the most incredible views of the sunset at dinner. It was decorated better than we could have ever imagined. Now, for the FOOD! The appetizers are NOT your typical wedding appetizers-they are elevated, elegant, and DELICIOUS. We decided on a double entree plate for dinner featuring the cracker crusted chicken and beef tenderloin and WOW it did not disappoint. Many comments were made that it was the best wedding food guests have ever had. Finally, we had the absolute pleasure of working with Marta as our wedding coordinator. We felt so safe in her hands as she made our big day go seamlessly. She has a natural gift for details and made sure that as a bride I had absolutely nothing to worry about on my big day. She even ran out to get cold compresses and snacks when I was feeling a little dizzy after taking photos for hours in the heat. Marta truly went above and beyond for my husband and I and connected with us on a personal level which we so appreciated. I would HIGHLY recommend booking Independence Grove if you want to have a beautiful, unforgettable, stress free wedding that will be talked about for years to come! -

Where do I even begin! Marta was amazing from the start. The venue itself is beautiful not decorated. Marta went through every single detail with me, some that I haven’t even thought of! I have many, many food allergies. Marta personally made sure that not only did I have a plate and beverage that I could enjoy at my wedding, but she made sure that everything tasted top notch, I wasn’t getting just another make-shift meal. She made sure that the room was set up to my vision and that everything ran smoothly the day of. I cannot recommend those venue highly enough. We received so many compliments that matched how detailed Marta was with her questions when we were planning. The staff, the day of, made me feel so special. They made sure I had what I wanted. They knew my drink before I even came up to the bar (they brought me a fresh drink so I didn’t have to leave the head table and could enjoy my meal). The servers were so kind when speaking with them. They made sure that my husband and I had a Box of our late night snack to take back to the hotel. The staff was so incredible and made my day to be even more special than I ever could have expected! -

We are so glad that we chose Events at Independence Grove for our wedding venue. We were lucky enough to attend two weddings prior to our own wedding and we fell in love both times. We looked into other venues just to make sure we were making the right choice, but in the end only Independence Grove checked all the boxes on our list for "must haves". We loved that there we could have the ceremony and cocktail hour outside and the reception indoors, we loved that they work with Catering By Michaels so we didn't have to find an outside food vendor and we actually loved the food, and we loved that the venue had a day of coordinator/planner. The venue itself is so beautiful, the food was incredible, and Marta the event coordinator/planner went above and beyond and is absolutely amazing. Marta made wedding planning fun and less stressful. She is so professional, organized, and knows her stuff! She knew what we wanted before we even knew it. She was also so quick to answer any question whether it was through email or text message. Up until the last minute, Marta was always so easy to reach with any last minute questions. She made me feel comfortable and confident in her abilities the moment we met and throughout the entire process. The rehearsal and wedding day went smoothly because of her. She made sure everything was where it needed to be and everyone was where he or she was supposed to be. Marta's creativity and attention to detail really made our dream wedding come to life and some. Before any guests came into the reception hall, Marta showed me the room and my jaw literally dropped because it was so beautiful. Luckily, the weather was also perfect so we were able to have our ceremony and cocktail hour outside. The scenery and view of the lake were stunning - our wedding guests couldn't stop talking about how picture perfect the day was. The entire staff was so helpful and friendly. The fact that the open bar didn't close during dinner was also a big hit. I would highly recommend this venue and Marta to anyone looking for a perfect wedding day! -

Amazing Night

I cannot say enough about Marta and her team and Independence Grove. My husband and I got married here on 9-21-19. I did a lot of venue searching and as soon as I left IG, I knew immediately it was the right venue. It is truly beautiful inside and out. From day one, Marta was SO helpful. She responded quickly to all my emails and was sincere in her feedback. The day of my wedding, Marta was an absolute ROCKSTAR. We had to move our wedding inside at the last minute due to rain and she made the whole process so stress-free. They made the inside look beautiful and so elegant and it worked out perfectly. My friends and family are still raving about the food and I have had a lot of people tell me the food was the best they ever had at a wedding, which says A LOT. The whole team helped us the next day to get our stuff and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful. Marta was a fun part of the day and the entire bridal party talked about how efficient she was. I would recommend IG in a heartbeat! -

Beautiful place with options
This place is fantastic. They have a coordinator that will handle vendor issues for you and direct them on the day of your wedding. Their baker and caterer for the cake and meal were fantastic. I've been told it was the best wedding food people have ever had. The staff are friendly and accommodating. We didn't have very many people (50), and while they do have a food and beverage minimum, it counts for the cake, food, bar, cocktail hour, and you can do favors. The minimum meant that we had a lot of extras that people really enjoyed. You can choose the patio and audoban hall, or the garden. Overall very very beautiful. I would highly recommend, even for those who have a larger guest count. They have a very wide range of options, and I think being able to condense a lot of the pieces made things so much easier, and way less stressful!The Moraine's reply:

Independence Grove is the perfect picturesque location for a wedding. The service is what really locks in the reason you should choose Independence Grove for your wedding venue. From the food tasting to the day of the event, the food and hospitality of the staff were PHENOMENAL. Our guests made it a point to tell us how good the food was and that it actually came out hot! We were also well taken care of with all of the appetizers waiting for us in our bridal suite and were sent home with 2 full meals - so thoughtful! The cherry on top of everything was the coordinator at Independence Grove, Marta. Marta is so well organized AND she responds to e-mails within hours, sometimes even within minutes! It is evident that she truly cares about her couples when she insists on helping to coordinate our outside vendors in addition to everything else she has to deal with. She made the entire planning process as easy as possible. On the day of our wedding, she blew us away when she had all of our decorations in place, when we were expecting to setup some of the items. Thank you so much to everyone at Independence Grove and Catering by Michaels for the best night of our lives! -

A good venue for a wedding is everything and that's what we got with them. From the initial walk through to the day of the wedding they took care of us so well. All the information was laid out easily for us to understand, there was no added pressure for doing anything related to our wedding we didn't want to, and they made our special day feel truly special. I also would like to mention Marta, who helped us through the entire process. She was absolutely amazing from day one. She helped us make all our tough decisions, made sure our day went as smooth as it possible could, and was just the most down to earth person we could have asked for. You want a venue that is there for you, not pushy, and a beautiful place to get married then this is that place. We will never forget our day there and its because of the wonderful staff there that made that happen. :) -

If you even come across Independence Grove as an option, chose it. This was the best decision my husband and I made during the entire wedding process. We worked with Marta (the most organized and on-it person I know) and Catering By Michael's, which is the exclusive catering company for this venue. The planning process was easy and laid out for us. Marta was so responsive, and she made the day-of the wedding so easy; she even brought me tums when my stomach was upset during the reception. She went above and beyond to make sure my wedding was personalized and ran smoothly. Catering by Michael's: AMAZING. I have 1 professional chef in the family and 15 foodie family members, everyone approved the food. Admittedly, I was a little nervous about moving forward with this venue and its exclusive catering company, but it couldn't have worked out better. The food was amazing; even if you don't pick this venue please look into Catering by Michaels. We had great (authentic) palomas and late night tacos, dinner, and desert; they especially cater to those with allergies and special diets.
I cannot emphasize enough how easy Marta and Catering by Michaels made planning my wedding. Everyone was on the same page and planning wasn't too stressful. This was such a great venue and it has so much natural beauty.The Moraine's reply:

The very best
Marta was our event coordinator and really our selling point! She was so personable and made me truly believe that we would have the wedding of my dreams there, and we did. My husband brews his own craft beer and we were able to serve it to our guests, which many other venues would not. We were able to bring both sets of our parents to the food tasting, and we had so much fun. All the food was outstanding, best wedding food I’ve never had and the bar never had a line. The service all night was amazing. Such a beautiful venue, with so many different places to take wedding photos- especially in the summer. The scenery, food, service, and price for a Friday wedding here can’t be beat!! -

We had our wedding here! I can't get over how absolutely perfect every single thing was! Marta, our event coordinator, was PHENOMENAL!!!!! I emailed her a ton and every single time she got back to me right away! She truly loves her job and put so much love and care into our big day. The most perfect venue you can ask for! We had our ceremony and reception here and it was 1000000x better than we could have ever imagined. It's a beautiful venue as is so we didn't have to spend much on our decorations, were able to take pictures throughout and received sooo many compliments on the venue. But there were two things that makes EIG the best wedding venue, not the beautiful views and that you have the venue to yourself but MARTA and the FOOD!
Marta, our wedding coordinator, is truly a blessing! From having amazing communication with us from the moment we toured, to the 9pm emails with questions and even the day after our wedding. She truly kept us true to ourselves throughout the whole process. We had expressed not wanting to spend a ton of money on the miscellaneous items and she kept us true to that. She made sure the husband and I were taken care of from having champagne to toast after our ceremony to making sure we had food to eat. Even prior to the wedding we had our DJ bail 3 DAYS before our wedding, Marta helped us find someone new, assured us a back up plan and made us feel at ease. We seriously cannot say enough of Marta. The husband and I have said she's the Arya to our wedding #GOT.
The food... is simply AMAZING!! Our experience at the tasting was great and the wedding from appetizers to desserts was the best food we've had. The best way to do the food justice is by letting you all know the responses from our friends and family.

Wow, where to even begin. Our wedding was everything and more that we imagined thanks to Alyson and her amazing team at Independence Grove. I spent hours researching venues, and can 100% say that I would have regretted going anywhere else with our special day. They really went out of their way to make sure my husband, myself, and our family and friends felt special on our wedding day. I never felt panicked or that I did not know what was going on, as the communication was clear, and you are given a timeline for planning which is immensely helpful! I also really appreciate when vendors work with you and your budget to make your vision possible. The food is FANTASTIC! Our guests could not stop raving about the food, and the venue, and that is all thanks to Alyson, and her team. They want you to relax and have a good time at your own wedding, and we did because they took care of so much! Also, the very thoughtful ways Alyson and her team would check in through out the night was great. There is nothing I would have changed or asked to go differently for our day, and that is such a testament to Independence Grove and their staff. I would recommend any and all events at Independence Grove, and we will be forever grateful for how special they made our wedding day -

Winter Wonderland
As a younger couple we began looking into venues with a budget in mind, but also very high expectations of our wedding day. Working with Marta, she helped work with within our budget but also make sure to make the day everything it could be. Periodic check ins making sure we were still on pace getting ready, and her attention to detail the day of made it everything we could have dreamed of. Oh, and did I mention the venue was literally taken out of our minds and turned into such a picturesque location. When we first walked in our jaws dropped with how beautiful the room was. Choosing Independence Grove for our wedding was hands-down the best decision we made for our big day. We grew up in Libertyville, so we naturally wanted to look at Independence Grove. We were blown away when we had our first meeting with Alyson - she was extremely professional and knowledgeable, and the space was absolutely beautiful. We booked our event right away! In the months leading up to the wedding, everyone kept asking us “Are you nervous/overwhelmed with planning yet??” and my honest answer was always no. Alyson and the event staff are so thorough and easy to get in touch with, and throughout the whole process, we felt like we had nothing to worry about. On our wedding day especially, my husband, myself, and both of our families were able to fully enjoy the day because EVERYTHING WAS TAKEN CARE OF! Everything was accounted for, everything looked beautiful, and we felt extremely well-prepared going into the day. The wedding went perfectly.
Another huge advantage of Independence Grove is the AMAZING catering. We had a brunch wedding menu with brunch cocktails, and everything was so delicious and beautifully presented. Our guests were raving about it!
We would highly recommend Independence Grove as the venue for your wedding or event. Our guests still talk about how it was the most beautiful and seamless wedding they have ever attended. It was the best decision we could have made!The Moraine's reply:

We recently had our wedding at Independence Grove (end of December). Alyson and the staff at Independence Grove went above and beyond to make our wedding amazing. Alyson was very helpful in helping us stick to our budget for the wedding. When we found out that we would have slightly fewer guests than originally planned, she helped us adjust our food and beverage options so that we would get the most out of our money. We were also really happy with how flexible the venue was. They allowed us to bring some of our own beer to be served by the bartender. Whenever we had questions about anything, Alyson always responded promptly. And, just another example of how the staff at Independence Grove went above and beyond, when we realized during the middle of the wedding that we had left our guests' wedding favors in our car at the hotel across the street, Alyson quickly drove us to get them. We were extremely grateful. In addition to the staff being amazing, the venue itself is a beautiful place for a wedding, even in winter. We had many people tell us that this was one of the best weddings they had ever been to. Overall, it was everything we wanted our wedding to be--truly an amazing night!The Moraine's reply:

From our first meeting, over a year before the wedding, Marta (our Event Coordinator) guided us through every step of the planning process. She always responded promptly to our questions, was flexible about changes we made, and was meticulous in making sure every detail was covered. It always seemed that Marta was there just for us. As for the food, our guests raved about everything - the appetizers, the meal, and the incredible desserts! First of all, when you have an event here, an event coordinator sits with you to plan out every single detail to make your day perfect. This was so helpful, as Alyson executed every single detail from food, to linens, to decor placement, and even directing the bridal party and guests the day of. Planning a wedding came with no stress for me and my hubby because all we had to do was pick and choose what we wanted. The execution was impecable, the venue was stunning and magical, and the service was prompt and pleasant. Independence Grove can make your event happen exactly the way you dreamt it. Thank you to all the staff there for delivering beyond wonderful service.

... From the very beginning to beyond the end, Events at Independence Grove's attention to detail, responsiveness, professionalism, communications, flexibility, and interaction with our other vendors were exceptional.
The venue is fairy tale beautiful. Hors d'oeuvres exquisitely delicious. Dinner presentation elegant and Entrée beyond tasty. The cake from their vendor, Oak Mill Bakery in Niles, cannot be beat.
During the event, the entire staff operates like whispers while they attend to all guests. Their presence was in the shadows as they executed the responsibilities of their roles quietly and efficiently without fuss. Food and beverage were brought to the tables and dirty dishes whisked away mysteriously. And the bartenders... very pleasant and attentive.
Stewart Glass is a treasure. Alyson Avondruska (our coordinator) is over the top excellent.
This was our second wedding event with this wonderful organization. Would absolutely do it again...The Moraine's reply:

Karen Sent on 07/17/2018On June 30, 2018 we had our daughter and son-in-law's wedding reception at Independence Grove.
We worked with Alyson and she could not have been more helpful, professional, organized, and just so personable. She was an absolute pleasure to work with! I can't possibly describe how nice our experience was with her. She was very prompt with communication and answered all of our questions. There is so much planning involved with a wedding and she was with us every step of the way to make us feel comfortable. She was there the evening of the wedding to ensure everything went smoothly. Again, I couldn't speak more highly of her! Michaels who does the catering did a fantastic job on the food, we were all very pleased. They paid careful attention to any "dietary needs" our guests had and ensured that they received the appropriate meal. We had many complements on how great the food was. The grounds are just beautiful at Independence Grove as well. Great for pictures! Also I'd like to give a big shout out to Polly who was our florist from Polly Pedals and Particulars. The flowers were outstanding. Polly and Alyson worked together very well as a team for the success of a beautiful wedding for our daughter and son-in-law.

Anthony Sent on 05/16/2018The entire process was great! The ceremony was done at another location so we only had our reception here. Stewart and Allison were very helpful and did a fantastic job with the initial planning and the food selection. Since we were having an afternoon reception, we chose to have themed buffet stations.... pasta, seafood, sushi bar, potato and a carving station. It was AMAZING!! The function director Israel and his Chef, kitchen and wait staff were AWESOME!! They attended to out every need and the stations and room overall was designed and laid out beautifully. Our day was FANTASTIC!!! Thanks to everyone who assisted in making our wedding day a memorable one. I would highly recommend anyone to have their event here. You won't be disappointed!

Allison Sent on 01/15/2018I cannot say enough great things about Independence Grove! We held our wedding ceremony and reception there in September and from our first meeting with our coordinator Alyson, they exceeded my expectations. During the planning process they were very accommodating and prompt, replying to emails within hours. The day before Alyson did a tremendous job running our ceremony rehearsal and did an even better job the day of our wedding! My husband and I were able to sit back and enjoy our day and spend time with our guests while she ran everything behind the scenes. We have gotten so many compliments from guests about the beautiful venue and everyone loved their catering. All staff and servers were professional and courteous helping our older grandparents through our buffet line, grabbing them coffee, etc. Could not have asked for a more perfect day, thank you Alyson & Independence Grove!
