Gorgeous Venue with a Professional and Caring Staff

My partner and I got married in October 2024 at the Matthews House, and it was one of the easiest decisions we made in the wedding process. From the beginning, Sarah (owner and lead coordinator) was detail-oriented, personable, and asked all the right questions to ensure our day would be everything we had dreamed of. No matter our question, Sarah's responses were always timely, understanding, and distinctly caring.

The venue itself was perfect for our wedding (75 people). With a perfect flow from the house to the garden, then the patio to the reception hall, we continuously got complimented on how beautiful the venue was and how EASY it was for everyone to relax and enjoy themselves in the warm atmosphere the house and its staff provide.

The venue itself is gorgeous and cohesive, but not lacking a lovely variety of backgrounds in the slightest. The different environments let us and our other vendors play with tone in each different part of the event, which also helped with flow (you can see this in our photos, done by the incomparable Two Roads North Photography).

I couldn't recommend this place more. Sincerely lovely.

The best wedding venue in the Triangle!!

I can't say enough nice things about the beauty of this venue and the quality of their team! Sarah and Heather worked so hard to coordinate the best wedding day experience for me and my husband. It's in a great location in downtown Cary close to hotels and lots of nice restaurants for our out of town guests. The house itself is sooooo beautiful. We ended up having our ceremony and reception in the indoor carriage house, which was a great size for our party! You can take so many lovely pictures on the grounds of the venue. It even has a bridal suite upstairs and a groomsmen suite downstairs! My husband and I stayed at the venue for our wedding night in the bridal suite, and it was just heaven! It's a wonderful venue for every memorable occasion!

Matthew's House

We just had out wedding at the Matthew's House at the end of October and had the best experience! The venue is beautiful, with natural decorations and plenty of parking. Sarah was amazing to work with and could anticipate our needs before we even knew what we needed. The mix of the outdoor/indoor space is what sold us and everyone loved the different options! The day ran super smoothly and was mostly stress free. We recommend the Matthew's House for your wedding needs!

Fantastic!

Had to reschedule our wedding not once but twice- thanks Covid. Through it all Sarah and Heather were absolutely fantastic to work with and extremely accommodating. Price is very fair for the area and everything that you get. Absolutely loved having our wedding here!

Went to a wedding here of a family member. Upon arriving met with friendly staff and they were friendly during the entire event. The area was clean and due to the mixed cultures of the bride and groom they were made to feel comfortable as the decorations were elaborate and beautiful. Moreover, an Item of mine was misplaced, and the staff spend the night looking for it and giving me updates. They went out of their way to find it. I left without the item and left my number. That morning I received a text that it had been found. Since I was no longer in town, they mailed it to me and withing a few days it was returned to me vial mail. I feel the staff went out of their way to help me. I don't usually write reviews, but I would highly recommend this venue to anyone.

Best Venue EVER

I can't say enough great things about The Matthews House. We got married in March and I was nervous that it would be cold and the grounds would be brown. However the lawn looked stunning for our ceremony, and we were so lucky to have absolutely gorgeous weather. Sarah was so helpful through the entire process and was available anytime I wanted to stop by and visit. I also can't stress how amazing it was to have a wedding coordinator for the day. Jeannette was assigned to us and was FANTASTIC! Did such a great job of making sure everything ran smoothly without directing anyone or coming off rude. She was an absolute sweetheart. Her and Sarah also helped a ton with decorating and setting everything up - note that they have a huge closet with decorations you can rent, including a photobooth. HIGHLY recommend. I couldn't ask for a better place!

Great service and venue!

We loved our day at the Matthews House- it is a beautiful venue with options to have your ceremony outdoor or indoor which was really helpful when it was pouring the day of. Our coordinator (Sarah) and her team were so flexible with us and let us make the call on whether we wanted the ceremony outside or in just a few hours before it was scheduled. Super attentive and I felt like I didn't need to worry about anything the day of!

Beautiful Historic Home Venue

We had our wedding here on 4/16/22 and it was PERFECT. So much better than we ever could have imagined. Sarah was incredibly responsive and helpful in the lead up to the wedding and put us in contact with the caterers for everything we needed. Heather worked as our coordinator and was a GENIUS. She was excellent at everything, made sure our day ran smoothly, and made it so stress-free for us as the couple. I knew we didn't have a thing to worry about with Heather at the wheel. I seriously cannot recommend The Matthews House enough for your big day!

My Dream Wedding!

The Matthews House provided the perfect location for my wedding! It is a beautiful house with a ton of charm. The garden and patio are so beautiful and well kept. Even though you are in downtown Cary and there is some traffic/train noise you still feel secluded and it was not an issue for our day (our guests could hear fine with us having mics). The ballroom is elegant and large. My guest count was around 90 and we fit very comfortably. Sarah was amazing and very accommodating in giving access to the house for tours, bridals, day of, etc. She was very easy to work with and responsive. Our day of coordinator (which was included), Heather, was very nice and helped everything run smoothly during the rehearsal and day of. The Matthews House is a great value (I did all inclusive package with food/drinks) and really provided the classic/elegant feel I wanted for my wedding!

Amazing Venue

Sarah was amazing to work with. We had to move our ceremony and reception due to Covid but still wanted to get married on our original date. Sarah allowed us to use the venue for our elopement which was extremely nice of her. She was very helpful when we moved our date as well as she sent a list of several dates the venue had opened so we could pick one. The venue itself is very beautiful.

Beautiful Vendor

Sarah and her team were absolutely wonderful to work with! We changed venues at the last minute to accommodate for less people due to COVID. Sarah helped us plan the new event in a month. She was very responsive to all questions and met with us multiple times to make sure everyone was on the same page. Sarah and her team helped our wedding day go off perfectly. It was better than we could have imagined and they had a back up plan for any situation. To top it off they were very safe and had a great COVID procedure set up to keep vendors and guest safe!

A Dream Come True

Our wedding experience was a rocky one, by once we met Sarah and booked The Matthew's House, it became much much more enjoyable. We lost our venue three months out from our date and I was scrambling to find a new place. Everywhere that I called was booked, but The Matthew's House wasn't!

Sarah expertly added us in for a 100 person wedding that would use the entire property. Then COVID hit just two weeks later and that plan ended up falling apart. She was available anytime I had any questions and was instantly able to solve any problem that arose. The venue was absolutely gorgeous for my bridal portraits and we rearranged the plans for the ceremony right afterward.

The day of the outdoor, 10-person ceremony, a massive thunderstorm opened up just minutes before the ceremony was about to begin. It sounds like something out of a soap opera. I was nervously pacing in the blue bridal room because I couldn't go downstairs to redirect the decor or anything, but the weather didn't even phase Sarah. My family was wowed by how she "worked magic" to transform the inside of the house into a stunning altar. When I walked downstairs and saw the place as I walked up the aisle, I felt so so so grateful to have her on our side.

The cost of the venue worked really well with our tight budget too, which was a massive relief. We hadn't expected to pay for a new venue with just three months to go in our budget, but it ended up being the perfect place.

The Matthew's House is a stunning venue and Sarah is the best coordinator a bride could hope to work with. Thank you to Sarah and her team, who made all our dreams come true after waiting a decade to get married!

Wonderful all around

Sarah and her team were very responsive, accommodating and helpful. Any advice or questions were handled expertly. All vendors are optional except alcohol. The day went perfectly and I would recommend them to anyone.

Beautiful venue

The Matthew's House is a perfect place to host your wedding. We looked at several venues but The Matthew's House stood out among them. My guests were talking about how gorgeous the place was. I also love that there are bridal and groom suites where you can get ready and just relax before the ceremony. The ballroom is a perfect size for my 93 guests and a dance floor. The owners, Sarah and her husband, are very warm and welcoming. My coordinator, Heather, is very sweet and professional. She was very patient with me and she did an awesome job with her team in making sure my wedding goes smoothly. My husband and I are so happy we picked this place!

Our dream come true!

This venue was an absolute dream come true! All of the wedding details, my dress included, were decided on to “fit” the venue feel. We couldn’t have asked for a more amazing staff; everyone we worked with throughout the planning process was great. Jannette, our coordinator, was the best and made the day-of stress-free! We can’t wait to go back and visit :)

We got married at The Matthews House and the entire wedding planning process from selecting the venue, talking to the owner Sarah, planning the details of the wedding with their wedding coordinator, Jannette, to executing all of those details day of our wedding was incredibly easy! If you are looking for a one stop shop venue, The Matthews House is the place (plus it’s unique and provides beautiful areas for pictures)! Sarah and Jannette want to make sure you are happy / respect your decisions while ensuring the important details (e.g., timing of ceremony events) are planned appropriately. We wanted to have our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all at the same venue, get married outside, be able to have guests wander inside and outside during the reception, and ensure set-up was easy with use of in-house china and catering. All of these things were possible at The Matthews House. Having Jannette as our day of coordinator was extremely helpful and allowed the bride, groom, family, and friends to enjoy the event and not have to be part of logistics on the day of the wedding. Overall, we highly recommend The Matthews House – book it! You won’t regret your decision!

Sarah and Vincent at the Matthews House helped make our wedding absolutely perfect. They think of everything, are so flexible and have a really calming effect on a stressed out couple. The price was perfect and the setting is beautiful. I highly recommend Matthews House for your wedding.

The Matthew's House is absolutely beautiful and makes a very charming venue. Our guests kept complimenting how cute of a place it is! You have tons of options with caterers and how you want everything to flow and be set up. Sarah was great to work with and was flexible when figuring out when we could drop off stuff and set up. Heather, the coordinator, was absolutely fabulous to work with and really went above and beyond! I would 1000% work with them again for my next event.

The Matthews House could not have been a better value for us. The venue is absolutely beautiful and at a very reasonable price. It has a hybrid set up so it was perfect for when our wedding day turned out to be cold and rainy. They had no issue accommodating for the weather. Jannette, our onsite event coordinator, and the management are extremely friendly, responsive, and flexible. They really make the experience as valuable as possible for you.

I cannot say enough positive things about our whole experience with the Matthews House for my daughter's January 6th wedding. From our first visit to the house to the last pick up of wedding items, every detail completed above and beyond our expectations. Jannette and Sarah handled all of our questions/requests with quick responsiveness and great input. They made us feel like ours was the only wedding in town! The bridal portrait session, wedding ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and send off were magical. Every thing that my daughter had hoped for and envisioned for her wedding came true. Jannette was amazing as the wedding coordinator for us. She took our vision, and completely executed to every detail and even provided her own creativity and opinion based on her vast experience. . All we did was drop everything off at the house the day before! The house, grounds and ballroom are beautiful and well cared for. All recommended vendors did an amazing job. Only wish was that the weather would've have been a little warmer, but that's out of everyone's control! The Matthews house has helped to make a once in a lifetime memory that our entire family will cherish forever.

The Matthews House was AMAZING. The space is gorgeous and there's so much to do with it. Jannette and her team are flexible, accommodating and legitimately didn't say no to us regarding a single thing. They did all the decorating and the ceremony and reception both looked absolutely beautiful. I didn't have to make a single decision all day and Jannette kept things running smoothly and seamlessly. People have commented to me about how well everything seemed to flow and this was ALL because of Jannette. Jannette is funny and so personable. I wish I could have a wedding every year just so I can continue to work with her and use this beautiful space. The location was absolutely worth every penny of what we spent for it, including the extra hours. The Matthews House definitely should not be overlooked!

We had a perfectly wonderful experience with the Matthews House at our daughter's wedding this past weekend. Jannette and her staff took fantastic care of us. They accommodated all of our requests and took care of everything so that we could just relax and enjoy the day. Having recently completed some renovations, the house and garden are gorgeous and were the perfect place for our perfect day. I cannot recommend this beautiful venue highly enough.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!! I would not suggest any other venue. They have so much to offer and so much for their guests to use. Such a beautiful venue when everything is blooming and lush! We are so happy we chose to have our wedding at the Matthews House. We looked at countless venues and Jannette Ferreira at the Matthews House was the most responsive, friendly, and resourceful wedding coordinator I met. She helped coordinate our whole wedding day and she did all of the setup and decorating too. She was very organized and responsive. She made sure our wedding day was perfect and flawless, she kept everything on schedule, she communicated with me very well, and she treated our family and friends with love and respect. Jannette is amazing and we truly had a perfect wedding with her coordinating everything. I highly recommend the Matthews House because it is an absolutely beautiful venue inside and out. Our bridal party had flexibility when getting ready. The backdrops for photos are gorgeous. And the management is top notch!

I loved having my wedding at The Matthews House. The event was fluid from the outside wedding, to the cocktail hour while guests mingled in the house and then finally to the reception in the ballroom. Jannette was amazing to work with and extremely helpful with fine tuning and making sure everything happened according to plans. I couldn't be any happier with my venue selection.

Jannette was awesome to work with! I had planned to do a lot of things myself - flowers, decor, makeup, even make my own personalized napkins for each of the guest (I am textile designer, so I like to take on different crafts and challenges) & while she knew this would mean I needed a lot of help setting up on the big day, she was ready to help! I was able to drop everything off a week before and when I arrived Saturday morning at the venue to start getting ready she had everything already in its place! ...then there were the flowers. I knew creating my own arrangements would come with some obstacles and that is what we got the morning of the wedding. Some flowers got too cold in the refrigerator and had frozen & died.. including a large hydrangea and multiple roses in my bouquet. No worries, Jannette to the rescue! First, I wasn't aware of the dead flowers until I caught two of my bridesmaids whispering about something and then pleaded with them to tell me. By the time I got down stairs to see the damage Jannette already had a plan to fix it. She told me to go upstairs and finish getting ready and not to worry - an hour later she brought my bouquet upstairs and not one flower looked out of place and she had moved around a few arrangements where you couldn't even tell that we were supposed to have a few more arrangements than we ended up with. I am still not sure how she fixed everything, I just know the day turned out beautifully! The venue itself has so much character and charm there isn't much decorating needed for the ceremony - the gardens are well kept and so green! and the inside of the house is newly decorated, but still has the charm of a Victorian house without looking old and out of date. I got so many compliments on the venue because it allowed for a decent amount of people, we ended up with about 120, but still feels intimate and not bare. I would recommend this to any bride that wants a unique location with a romantic feel!

If you want a venue that is beautiful and will take excellent care of you on your very special day, pick The Matthews House! My husband, mom, and sister all helped in the search for the perfect wedding venue. When looking at other venues, we left all of them saying things we wish we could fix, but The Matthews House was the first venue we got really excited over. We were able to have the ceremony outside and the reception inside. It was great being able to get ready in the lovely, spacious upstairs bedroom and the men had their own room downstairs. I was able to use the whole house for the day and make it my own.
Jannette was so helpful and responsive during the whole planning process! I can't say enough good things about her. One awesome reason to get married at the Matthews House is because they can take care of the food, wine/beer, and cake. The food tasting exceeded our expectations and we were able to create a unique, delicious dinner that was not bland or boring at all. It was also great being able to have my cake designed and made on-site. Jannette was always responsive and helpful with my emails, phone calls, and times we met. I brought pictures and other things to set up on our wedding day and Jannette and her crew helped me set up everything. When I started trying to help, she told me it was my day and to go enjoy myself and get ready. She made sure we sat down and ate during the wedding. Jannette and her team worked with all of our other vendors to make sure everything was coordinated and it made our day go so smoothly. I don't think I could have picked a better wedding venue. It was the perfect place for my husband and I to get married.
Now that the wedding is over, when we pass by the exit, I want to stop by and visit. I definitely plan to visit on our anniversary. What a beautiful wedding venue with great staff! Thank you Jannette and everyone at The Matthews House for helping make our wedding day so memorable!

We were recently married here this past weekend in October and we really couldn't have had a better experience. From the initial planning, Jannette was able to help us coordinate and schedule every detail, with zero stress or issues. Everything was very easy from start to finish. We were pretty particular and specific with our vision, and The Matthews House offered the perfect venue, with Jannette making sure everything went smoothly. We were able to have the outdoor wedding that we wanted, and the reception venue was also at the house so there was no need for any transportation between the wedding ceremony and the reception which was great for us. We were also so pleased that the food, alcohol, and cake could all be provided on site. The food and cake were excellent and our guest raved all night about how delicious it was. If you want a beautiful venue that has everything you want, including an amazing Jannette, and more, and offers an elegant setting, then this is the perfect place for you!

Jannette and the staff at The Matthews House went above and beyond my greatest expectations. When I walked in and saw how they had everything set up, my jaw dropped. It was gorgeous! Janette helped me with all my decisions and made me feel relaxed and that she would make sure everything went well. And it did. When it rained during the ceremony, Janette immediately had it under control and we simply moved inside. No stress. Everyone raved about the food! It was just as good as the tasting we had prior to the wedding which didn't seem possible when cooking for a large crowd. The staff were so pleasant and our guests enjoyed interacting with them, although they were pretty much invisible, which was nice. Mark the bartender was awesome! So fun! If you think The Matthew's House is a little pricier than some venues, well, you get what you pay for. I highly recommend using this venue for your event. Jeanette, Preeti, and their crew were delightful to work with. They were patient and flexible as they guided us through the pre-wedding process. They helped us sort through the endless possibilities out there to design a wedding that was tailored specifically to us. Preeti is a master at designing menus, and the food was outstanding.

The venue itself is beautiful. We had our ceremony in the garden, a cocktail hour in the courtyard/breezeway, and an indoor reception. The fact that the Mathews house has a contingency plan in case of bad weather put our minds at ease.

Really,we could not have asked or more. From planning to execution, the Matthews house staff was a joy to work with. They took most of the stress out of the process, allowing us to enjoy our wedding without having to sweat the details. We highly recommend them.

My husband and I were very uptight and stressed out parents of the bride. We found out 2 months before that our daughter wanted to get married August 23rd! The Matthews House staff were truly professionals and made us feel at ease. They put on a beautiful reception. The food was delicious and everything went very smoothly. The only regret that I had was that I wish I could have relaxed and really enjoyed everything. My husband and I just recently celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary and to this day our friends and family still rant and rave about our wedding. Wedding planning was a dream come true ... as if it wasn't enough that the venue was beautiful and charming, so was our wedding planner. Special touches such as lunch for the girls and unique display of the guest tags in the topiary just added to the stress free and magical experience. From the first moment we met, all ideas and plans were designed to ensure the wedding was exactly what the bride and groom needed to make this wedding uniquely their own! Mrs. Preeti Waas and the Mathews house were amazing!! From the start and through the whole process Mrs. Waas was very helpful and always went out of her way to make sure our desires were met. We felt like she really cared about our wedding and even helped watch some of the kids during our reception! She was professional and made excellent recommendations that we actually went with. She has many contacts and can help you find whatever you are looking for. As far as the venue, we couldn't have asked for a better location; we decided to have our ceremony outside and the reception in the ball room. The venue was beautiful and the grounds made for excellent pictures that both of our families loved! The Matthews house also catered and the food was outstanding!! The staff provided excellent service during our wedding. They also provided the cake which was beautifully done! This place offers the total package at a great price! I am very pleased with our decision to have our ceremony and reception at The Matthews House. Everything leading up to the big day went smoothly and our wedding day itself was amazing. We got everything we wanted. Our wedding was perfect... perfect setting with amazing food and a great setup. The menu was customized for us, including our choices for having a signature cocktail, wine, and craft beer. Our guests had an amazing time and so did we. And did I say the food was great? The staff at the Matthews house was amazing…helping us with everything… from our menu selection to our Cake… I showed Preeti Wass a picture of a wedding cake and she duplicated it down to the painted peonies it was absolutely Beautiful! I fell in love with The Matthews House the moment I walked in the gates. I was on my vendor search and I had visited quite a few places prior to visiting The Matthews House. Nina greeted me and gave me a tour of the house and grounds and I just knew it was the place for our ceremony and reception. We had a lot of out of town guests so we wanted both events at the same venue. The house and grounds are BEAUTIFUL and were groomed perfectly. The house is old and charming and the gardens are well manicured with lovely flowers and greenery. Nina was always accommodating and kept her word with everything that we agreed on during our many meetings. The house was PERFECT for our wedding. Words cannot describe how wonderful the setting made all of our pictures. We loved it!

Now - the FOOD. The food was absolutely FANTASTIC. All of our guests are STILL raving about the catering. There was not one food selection that was even mediocre - it was all OUTSTANDING. I cannot even say enough good things about the food (except that I wish my husband and I had time to eat even more!). Nina even made us "doggy plates" to take home since we were unable to sit and eat all of our food since we wanted to mingle with our guests.

Nina and her staff were amazing from day one, and especially on the day of the wedding. Nina is essentially a second wedding coordinator and she and her staff ensured that our wedding day ran smoothly. Everyone was very professional and everything went exactly as planned. If you're looking for a beautiful place to get married that serves fantastic food, The Matthews House will not disappoint you!!

I had planned a Sunday afternoon wedding in the garden at The Matthews House. It turns out Mother Nature had other plans. It poured rain all weekend long and yet, when I spoke to Nina and her staff she assured me they handled these situations all time and not to worry about a thing. To say she held true to her word is an understatement. They had to hold my ceremony in the ballroom and then urn it around for the reception. Not only did she personally oversee all of those details, she also contacted the DJ, the florist, and the bakery. We LITERALLY didn't have to deal with anything. I can honestly say I am happy I chose this venue not just because it is stunning but also because the staff treats each and every wedding party like family!

The staff at The Matthews House were extremely helpful, offering advice and information about choices to be made. They were very timely in adapting to change requests from our family and in providing alternatives to previously selected options. The venue is gorgeous and easily accommodates a large crowd; it can be personalized in different ways, including framed pictures from the family and can provide a respite for the bridal party before the event...a sort of "calm before the storm"!

Friendly, great value, great location

The Matthew’s House was a great option for our budget. Working with Sarah was pretty good, she was generally responsive to emails. The venue looked fantastic day off and she was very helpful day of as well. Lots of great places for dress photos! My biggest issue we ran into was that two of the three restrooms in the house were out of order for our event and we weren’t told until we got there which was inconvenient.

Beautiful wedding venue

We are happy we have chosen the Matthews House for our wedding. Very beautiful and versatile venue perfect for our guest count (around 50 people). The garden ceremony setup looks just like in movies. The house is also gorgeous with a lot of space for photos/getting ready/cocktail hour in case of rainy weather. All our guests were very impressed with the venue as well.
The staff were very nice to interact with and very professional. They helped our wedding day to go smoothly. Special thanks to Debra, our day of coordinator, and Sarah for making our wedding a truly special day.
We recommend the Matthews House to the couples looking to get married in the area.

We had a wedding at Matthews House last weekend and the whole experience couldn't have been better! The owner and the staff were professional, caring and flexible. They did not miss a detail and made the event as stress-free for us as possible. The venue is beautiful and everyone gave it rave revues! If you are having an event for under 140 people, it has enough space for everyone to move around, enjoy the patio and the beautiful house. The staff did a great job of setting up the ballroom from the wedding to the reception, while we were enjoying the cocktail hour outside and in the house. All in all, it was a great wedding, a great experience and I would highly recommend it!

What an evening to remember! The Matthews House provided the perfect backdrop for our wedding reception. Highly recommend!! Our wedding went amazing!
The venue is perfect for both ceremony and reception. Many of our guest commented that they loved having both in one place and that this venue was very well set up and beautiful.
The staff are all very accommodating and friendly. Elizabeth helped me with so much of the planning and I'm so grateful for her support especially on the day.
We were late starting and that threw everything off a bit but it was hardly noticeable because the venue and the staff worked around it and everything ran so smooth. So glad we choose this place!

We were surprised by The Matthews House when we toured it while shopping for venues. The house and grounds are gorgeous - restored antiques throughout the home, open yard space, a covered porch, a ballroom, and a courtyard really sold us on the venue. It's a great setting for a casually elegant reception and comes at a reasonable cost.

The planning process went very well - Preeti Waas was our event coordinator, and she was incredibly supportive and helpful throughout the entire process. I didn't have a wedding planner or day-of coordinator, so her service was really invaluable, especially the day of. She basically managed the event from start to finish. She was also so flexible with my ever-changing vision for the event - I changed the seating arrangement, the linens, and the dance floor location two weeks before the event. I also had a ton of decor personal decor that needed to be set up, which her staff handled perfectly. Everything went absolutely seamlessly, and we couldn't have been happier.

We had minor challenges surrounding the menu and the tasting. One of the great things about the Matthews House catering (Basil & Thyme) is that you can basically build your own menu. But, this proved to be a bit challenging because the menu ended up being more expensive than we originally budgeted - our fault as we did not have a final menu before we signed the catering contract. Additionally, there was a disconnect between the menu items we chose and the food we were served at our tasting. It was our menu, but the recipes used were not what we were picturing (also partially our fault for not communicating the exact vision more clearly). We did have to rework the recipes, but in the end the food was very good. The Matthews House also has a bakery, which we used to do our cake. It was gorgeous and delicious.

Overall the Matthews House gave us a picture perfect wedding reception. We, and ever guest we talked to, loved every minute.

Jannette and her staff at The Matthews House were truly amazing to work with planning our reception. Very professional, flexible and reliable. The staff was genuine in making sure your day was exactly what you envisioned. Jannette's years of experience were very helpful in assisting in wedding reception planning and decorating. Guests raved about how beautiful both the house and ballroom were. We also received multiple compliments about the food, especially the Cordon Bleu (recognized house specialty) and sauces with the craved beef. We truly had one of the best nights of our lives.

Some feedback: We had 160 guest , it was a snug fit in the ballroom. Also, guests complained about waiting in lines for drinks as only one bartender was provided.

Getting married at The Matthews House was incredible. It was the perfect evening and everything was so beautiful. To look back on our ceremony in the garden under the twinkling lights makes me feel as happy as I was when I was walking down the aisle. The house and reception hall were magnificent. I would definitely recommend booking the Honeymoon Suite for the night of the wedding. We did and it was great! I highly recommend The Matthews House!

Everything was wonderful after Preeti took over. The night of the wedding we had some noise issues with who we believed to be the staff cleaning.

Also, I felt that we had a few issues with communication on the day of with my wedding coordinating team. As far as the cake topper, which was not supposed to be on the cake, but rather decoration on the table and times for cake cutting.

These were the only issues that we had and are so grateful for Preeti and her hardworking spirit, it made out wedding the perfect day!!

Wedding was perfect, food was amazing, cake was delicious, and getting to stay in the house two days was so fun. Only 3 things I would've changed: I thought I was paying for a different alcohol package than I had received (this seemed to be due to changes that were made in menu/staff/etc during the time I was planning my wedding with them), I asked staff to put a plate of food and a piece of each of the different cakes I had in the fridge for us each to eat later and there was only a couple pieces of cake there, and the hot water didn't last long enough to fill up the gorgeous large tub enough to enjoy it despite trying 3 different times! Not enough to spoil my perfect day though! :) staff was super friendly and helpful.

This was a gorgeous place for us to have our wedding. The food and service was amazing. All of our guests enjoyed every aspect of our wedding.

Jannette did an excellent job directing the rehearsal and ceremony and managing the cocktail hour and dinner reception. Our major disappointment was two items at the reception differed significantly from the food we ate at the tasting. The chicken piccata at the tasting was pounded thin, breaded, had more lemon in the sauce and also many more capers. The salad served at the tasting was romaine lettuce with tomatoes, sliced cucumbers and other ingredients while the salad at the reception was iceberg lettuce with fewer other ingredients. In addition, the salad at the tasting was served on a separate plate while at the reception we had to put the salad on our dinner plates. The other entree and vegetables at the reception were excellent.
Our guests enjoyed the beautiful house, garden and reception hall. The Matthews House is a good choice if you want an outdoor ceremony with a rain backup option at the same location.

The Matthews House has been great to work with so far! It was easy to book for our date next year and Elizabeth is very prompt at responding to my emails with any questions. The venue uses their own cater and provides bartenders which makes it easy (one less thing to plan!) And you basically get to create your own menu. The only thing my fiance complains about is that the lowest menu option only comes with one meat. :/ It is $13/pp extra to get the two meat option. They provide an indoor/outdoor option for the ceremony so there is no need to stress until the day of your wedding about the weather! Gorgeous venue, we can't wait to get married there! :)

The Matthew's House was a really wonderful place to get married, the garden for the ceremony is beautiful. The Ballroom for the reception is a bit plain, but it's still nice looking, especially now that they have updated the whole venue and replaced the blinds in the ballroom with beautiful curtains. The new updates (wallpaper, paint, curtains, furniture) make the house even more beautiful than when we first toured.
The food is wonderful, and the chef can cook pretty much anything you want for your wedding dinner, you're not stuck picking from 3 different dishes like lots of venues. The Catering is expensive though, and you have to do catering through the Matthews House, no outside vendors. It's definitely not the most expensive catering I saw by far, but between food and alcohol we spent about $70 a person.
The day went flawlessly and Janette did a great job making sure everything got done and was where it needed to be.
The one disappointment is how short our reception had to be, the site rental is for only 8 hours and that includes the time you need for your vendors to get in to set up (about 3-4 hours is needed for this), so your reception will probably end at 9:30 or so like mine had to. It's very disappointing when you spend so much money to have to send everyone home when they're all still having so much fun, the night definitely ended too early as many of my guests grumbled. This is not a venue to choose if you want to party all night or even to 11pm.

The Matthews House is such a convenient and gorgeous place to have a wedding! There a very beautiful and vibrant garden outside to have the ceremony with enough space to accommodate all guests with white chairs, and there is an archway with greenery growing all around it so that the decorations naturally take care of themselves. The best part is that the reception is also held at the same location in a beautiful hall with tables and chairs provided. They order linens and napkins for the tables and let you choose the colors. Not only do they have a reception hall, but they also have their own in-house catering and bakery, as well as rooms to for you to spend the night in before or after the wedding! The person you work with (we worked mostly with Preeti) is your wedding coordinator, so that's a great perk and she was very helpful and calming in many unique situations. Everything went flawlessly, and I had absolutely no stress whatsoever the day of the wedding. The food was cooked perfectly and everyone gave us compliments on most everything. The only thing for room in improvement is to better the responsiveness in returning clients' inquiries both in email and phone, though I am a very responsive and quick person, so I may be biased. It was a great experience, beautiful setting, delicious food and great people to work with who helped make the wedding my husband and I envisioned come true!

I assisted in planning my cousin's wedding at The Matthews House. Preeti is the ultimate professional. She knows her stuff! You can tell she has experience planning weddings but each wedding is a different experience so you'll never get a "cookie cutter" wedding with her. She listens to what you desire and assists you in making your dreams come true!

I was pleased overall but had a few frustrating moments. the place is beautiful and the people are very kind but I felt they were understaffed which led to frustrations on my day. they made some promises they did not keep in regards to clean up and remembering little details taht were important to us.

The Matthews House was a wonderful place to work with for my wedding. They were easy to work with and Preeti Waas took care of a lot small details the day of the wedding so I didn't have to worry about them. Preeti was great to work with and so helpful with all the fine details. On the day of, she was great with making sure everyone was keeping with schedule. That was very helpful for me and taking off some of that stress.

A beautiful, beautiful place to get married. Helpful along the way, sometimes took a while to get back to me with answers to questions but beautiful. A few issues with kids meals and buffet stuff--tried to kick us out when we weren't done yet! Other than that, perfect!

Overall, I had a great experience with this venue. The day of coordinator, Jannette, was great! She met with us 2-3x beforehand and was on the ball the day of. I did run into two snags prior to our wedding day, that I feel are worthy of mentioning to anyone who uses this beautiful venue in the future.

I had scheduled an appointment for my mom to visit the venue 1-2 weeks in advance. We went at the scheduled time and the venue manager did not show! Thankfully, the onsite caterer was there and could let us in. The office manager had no recollection of my scheduling the meeting.

The second (bigger issue) was when I went to take my bridal portraits. I had scheduled plenty of time in advance and even confirmed the time 3-4 days prior. Once again we got to the venue and no one was there! It was 100 degrees and I was in full hair and make up with my wedding dress and my photographer waiting. I did not have anyone's cell phone number, so I ended up calling the onsite caterer's cell phone who thankfully had the venue manager's cell number. I ended up sitting in the car for 40 minutes or so waiting for her to show to let us in. The day of coordinator was supposed to meet us later that evening and she did arrive on time. The venue manager did not provide us with a reasoning as to why she was not there as she should have been.

As for my wedding day, everything went flawlessly to my knowledge. Both the venue manager and day of coordinator were there well before the start of the ceremony and both were very helpful throughout the day which I am appreciative!!

I would recommend this venue as it is beautiful and they have onsite catering along with a nice staff. I would just make sure you triple confirm times (the day before) and get cell phone numbers! :)

The setting for our reception at the Matthews House was spectacular. You can't go wrong with the aesthetics of the place, and all of our guests raved about the food. There were a few issues though. Our guests had to endure plumbing problems where water was leaking from the 2nd story to the Main floor, and we were never compensated for the problem. We took advantage of renting the Honeymoon sweet, but were surprised when we had NO warm water in the shower or tub (probably due to the plumbing issues). We had requested that the bar be closed during dinner, but the staff did not follow our instructions, & hence the bar was closed early. Finally, it happened to us, and we've heard its happened to others, the reception gets shut down early. Be aware of this when signing a contract with the Matthews House, b/c they can decide to close down the party at any moment, even if all your guests are acting appropriately.

This venue charges a 20% "service fee" on The Matthews House (not stated in the contract) PLUS the customary 20% "service fee" on the food and beverage. Beware. This is another $600.00. Although numerous phone calls, messages and emails were sent to the accounting person during our planning NONE were returned. A better system of communication is needed between clients and staff. Though the food was excellent stations were requested and assured but a buffet line was set up instead. I was very disappointed.

The venue is beautiful and the price, although expensive, is reasonable relative to other comparable venues in the Raleigh/Cary area. Unfortunately, the service was grossly lacking. When my mom and I toured the venue as prospective clients Preeti and Jannette were great. They were warm and welcoming and expressed a "we can do anything you want" attitude. We were sold. But once we paid our deposit the service was completely different. Preeti was extremely slow to respond to emails or would not respond at all - mostly the latter. The biggest disappointment came shortly before the wedding when we were told that we had to pay extra if we wanted our reception to extend beyond 9:30pm. We were told when we first paid our deposit months earlier that we got the venue for 8 hours and that the 8 hours could span any time frame except that the music had to end by 11:00pm due to a Cary town ordinance. This was fine. My plan was to arrive on site at 3:00pm. The wedding was at 5:00pm. There would be a cocktail hour from 5:30-6:30pm followed by a reception, which would end by 11:00pm (3-11pm = a total of 8 hours). Then a month before the wedding Preeti and Jannette tell us that we have to pay extra if we want the reception to extend beyond 9:30pm because the contract only covers for a 4-hour reception and the cocktail hour counted as part of that 4 hours. Well, we were never told this! I was livid. We ended up paying extra for 30 more minutes and our reception ended at 10:00pm. I also second a previous bride's comments about the waitstaff. They all looked to be high schoolers with little to no experience in the service industry. Very disappointing. My dad told me months after the wedding that one of our underage guests asked for a soda from the bartenda and was told soda was only for mixers!! Are you serious? How unprofessional and rude is that? Fortunately my dad brought this issue to Jannette's attention when it happened and Jannette corrected it. Ultimately, none of this took aw

I had my wedding at the Matthews House last month.

Planning was a nightmare. Preeti lost email or didn't respond for weeks. No, it does not make me a bridezilla to expect an email response or at least acknowledgment in less than a week. Only after my father (who had the checkbook) became involved did she become responsive. My other vendors were unhappy because I couldn't tell them when they could arrive or anything about the timeline of the wedding day. Preeti also sprung the final check and head count due date on us. She emailed my father one day earlier than had previously been agreed upon and said that he needed to stop by the Matthews House (with a large check) in the next four hours.

The wedding day itself went ok, but was fairly disorganized. The day of the wedding, she forced my sister, who was also my maid--of-honor, to set up decorations while she was trying to do her makeup. Set-up is something that she assured us was something that the Matthews House staff handled. At the reception, my guests were forced to wait in long lines at our food stations because either a) Preeti didn't tell us that we needed more food stations, even though we had asked what was appropriate or b) she dismissed tables at the wrong speed which created bottlenecks. I also clearly told the Matthews House staff that four tables had bridesmaids bouquets as centerpieces. They did not follow instructions and two of the four tables ended up with a vase filled with water as a centerpiece.
Overall, I did not expect to spend that much money and end up with such a frazzling wedding planning experience and terrible customer service.
