We had our wedding at the Masonic Temple in October of 2025 and we couldn't have been happier! The staff is SO attentive and helpful throughout the entire process. Throughout our wedding night and after I had multiple people come up to me and share how nice all the staff was and how delicious the food was. We had our ceremony in the chapel and our reception in the crystal ballroom. The chapel is amazing on it's own and really doesn't require many decorations. The ballroom is so ornate and when filled with our floral decorations, was absolutely stunning. If you are interested in this venue I would recommend setting an appointment to go look at it because the pictures really don't do it justice. As an added bonus for planning a wedding there, all the vendors have already worked there many times, which really make planning so much easier for you! I would 100% recommend booking the Masonic Temple for your wedding day, you won't be disappointed!

The staff at the Masonic were so amazing. They are professional, organized, kind, and great communicators. I didn’t have a wedding planner and definitely did not need one with how efficient the staff was at the Masonic. They made everything we wanted happen and we cannot thank them enough! Truly the best venue and best weekend! No complaints!

We recently had our wedding at the Detroit Masonic Temple, and it could not have been a more incredible experience! The venue itself is absolutely breathtaking—historic, elegant, and unlike anything else you’ll find in the city. Every corner feels grand and timeless, which made for an unforgettable backdrop to such a special day.

What truly set the experience apart, though, was the outstanding team we had the privilege of working with. Angela, Danielle, and the entire Masonic staff went above and beyond to ensure every detail was seamless. From our very first meeting to the final moments of the reception, they were professional, attentive, and genuinely caring. They anticipated our needs before we even asked, handled every curveball with grace, and created an environment where we could fully relax and enjoy ourselves knowing everything was in expert hands.

Our guests are still raving about the beauty of the venue and the flawless flow of the evening—and that is a direct reflection of the support and hard work of the Masonic team. We are so grateful for their dedication, warmth, and hospitality. If you are considering a wedding venue in Detroit, I cannot recommend the Masonic Temple highly enough. It was everything we dreamed of and more!

I can’t recommend Masonic Temple more! We got married there on 10/12/24 and it was incredible. The venue has so much history and really is the coolest building in Detroit in my opinion. The venue was very easy to work with in the lead-up and event day. They were very flexible in making time for us to visit a couple times in advance of the big day. We worked with Angela M. and Ian C. for most of the pre-planning and Erin M. was there for our actual day-of and rehearsal coordination. Brandon L. was with us in the evening. We had a whole CREW taking care of us and our guests all day and night for anything we needed!! A big bonus is that the venue is so ornate and beautiful on its own, so you don’t really need to add much decor. And you shouldn’t! Let the venue speak for itself! The bridal suite is HUGE and also gorgeous, with plenty of natural light for photography and hair/makeup. Since the room is so large I was able to include more family/friends pre-ceremony without feeling overwhelmed and crowded. Our DJ was very happy about their electrical. He was worried since it was an old building that the breakers might flip. We were pleased to find that there are several plugs at the stage that each run on separate circuits, and that they are labeled. He was ready to run cords wherever he had to, but luckily that wasn’t needed. They do shows and events all the time so they’re set up for it. We used their in house catering which was GREAT. You can buy them for a fee but we didn’t even ask what it was. Guests raved about the food, and said it came out hot and was big portions. No one left hungry, that’s for sure. Geoff at T&M catering was very accommodating and I’m glad we went with his suggestion for mini grilled cheese as one of the appetizers, though simple it’s a crowd pleaser! Got multiple guest compliments from it! Geoff was actually present our whole reception, and checked on us multiple times through the night. A beloved guest who uses a mobility scooter was very happy about how valet and security/guest services treated him. He said the valet staff rushed over as soon as they saw the scooter in the trunk and didn’t let them lift a finger and escorted them through the nearby accessible entrance, as well as staff helping him find his way throughout the night. A tour of the building was offered as a perk for our bridal party/family. We failed to plan ahead, oops, and didn’t get to fully utilize the offer for our whole group. We brought now-husband’s parents, and had a great time learning of the history and falling even more in love with the venue! Another minor but major plus about Masonic is that there are vintage clocks all over the place and they were all on time. I can’t stand a wrong clock! Great for trying to keep on schedule without having your phone in your pocket on your wedding day. Really shows their attention to detail…the Masons know what’s up. The cost is average wedding prices for the area/level of service. It was definitely a dream wedding venue for both of us, and we almost didn’t even reach out to inquire because we thought it would be the most expensive venue you could possibly pick and unattainable. After shopping around for prices I was surprised to see some lame & boring places cost more. We appreciated that they didn’t charge a cake-cutting fee or other surprise hidden charges. (Can you believe some venues will charge $2-3/person for cutting and serving your own freaking cake?!? Dirty!) We used day-of-coordination from Haley Makay Events, with Claire as our lead coordinator. They were very good! Florals by Bucket Works (to die for, check them out). Photo Booth by Stunning Shots (high quality/great job). Liv In The Moment Photography, I’m assuming amazing, haven’t gotten the photos back yet.

I had my wedding at the Masonic Temple on September 22, 2023, everything was perfect. My husband and I had a wonderful time and the staff at the Masonic went above and beyond since the moment I signed the contract a year prior to the event. All of my guests raved about the bartenders, servers and staff. People are still talking to me about how delicious the food was. I felt like Erin, Nancy, Jill, Tommy and Melanie were truly invested in my husband and I having the best day and did anything they could to make it go smoothly. Choosing to have my wedding at the Masonic Temple was our best decision. The staff helped make my day perfect without adding a single drop of extra stress or drama.

I had my wedding at the Masonic this past Friday 9/8/23. My experience from start to finish was wonderful. I had prompt communication from the venue from the very start when requesting a quote to the very end at the rehearsal and the day off. Everyone was so pleasant, professional, and helpful! From the security at the building to the even coordinators, everyone was welcoming. The building is absolutely beautiful. We needed minimal decor because the entire building is beautiful enough on its own. It is such a pretty and unique setting for a wedding. Food was great, service was great, everything was clean and perfectly set up. The day went great. The getting ready rooms there are beautiful and versatile. After a year of working with them and planning, I’m sad it’s over! I would 100% recommend having your wedding here, they are pros!

As soon as my now husband and I visited the Masonic, we knew it was where we wanted to get married. The building is so beautiful and spacious- we were able to conveniently host all of our wedding day events there. Melanie, Erin, Jan, and every staff member we interacted with at the Masonic was extremely helpful, accommodating and patient throughout the entire planning process and especially on the day of. They are true professionals and were a huge part of making our wedding day as special as it was!

I am writing this review late, but still not any less deserved. I have nothing but positive things to say about Melanie and her team. She responded to each email in a timely manner. If she couldn’t answer my question in an email, she would set up time to talk on the phone (which she did more than once). She listened to and addressed every single concern and never once seemed bothered by any of my many questions. She is a rockstar. I wanted a venue with character, and the Masonic temple was definitely it. More so, I wanted to work with a venue team that made the process smooth and seamless. I got that in every sense. I got a team at the Masonic Temple in addition to my dream venue. If I had to go back in time, I would choose the Masonic Temple again.

There is absolutely nothing I would change about our choice of masonic temple as our wedding venue. All the event staff especially the lead coordinator Melanie & our day of coordinator Nancy were so incredibly responsive, professional, experienced and invaluable in making this such a wonderful event. The venue itself is absolutely breath taking and has only been enhanced by the recent renovations in the cocktail space and crystal ballroom. We and all of our guests was so impressed by all the incredible details - from the perfectly coordinated uplights to the beautifully intricate plates to the well planned floor plan. Additionally, the catering was delicious and the bar tending a big hit among our friends including their option for a his and hers drink! There was nothing the Masonic couldn’t help us with in creating such a special day. Thank you thank you!

I am a wedding planner and my client was not able to come into town to view the Masonic due to COVID restrictions. Melanie, was super helpful and cooperative with me recording every single thing so that my couple would feel comfortable booking their venue blindsided. During the whole process, she answered every question that was asked to make the day flow timelessly. The day of, Erin stepped in and was super helpful with everything that was needed. I will refer to Masonic again not just because it's a beautiful place but also because of the great service from the staff!

After cancelling our wedding so many times due to COVID-19, we were finally able to celebrate our vow renewal this past May at the Masonic Temple and it was worth the wait!!! Melanie was so patient throughout all the cancellations due to pandemic, and she really made the entire planning process so incredibly easy. The day of the event, we couldn't have asked for a more helpful and responsive staff. They helped us through every step of the entire day. Looking forward to attending more events there in the future. Thank you!!!!

I looked at several venues when I got engaged in 2020, but Masonic was always my first choice. I first fell in love when I got a tour for work years ago so when we got engaged I knew we had to see if it would fit our vision for our wedding and it surpassed it. The venue is elegant, rich in history and makes your wedding feel like the fanciest event ever. We had our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception all at Masonic and it made it so much easier for our guests too. Plus, our food was delicious and they even accommodated our special drink request.

Their coordinator, Melanie Matics, is a dream to work with and was a huge reason we said yes to booking Masonic. She helped plan and figure out everything with me and made me feel totally comfortable. This girl is the top of the top! And when she wasn't able to be at my rehearsal and wedding due to unforeseen issues, she had Kara step in (with the help of Jayne). And honestly, this might of freaked me out at first, but Kara was amazing too! She handled everything with a smile and grace. My husband and I were so lucky to have these wonderful women help us on our wedding day! If I had to do it all over again I'd pick Masonic, Melanie, Kara and Jayne all over again! What a dream team for our dream day!

We had our ceremony and reception at the Masonic, I can’t explain how lucky we felt to work with Melanie and her team. They made our planning process and day absolutely perfect from the start, to finish. Melanie was easy to work with, extremely responsive, and followed through on all commitments. She was flexible, patient and offered great guidance and support throughout the planning process. The venue itself is absolutely magical and the uniqueness had our guests, both out of town and local, raving. The food (tasting and wedding dinner) and catering service was also fabulous. We can’t recommend the Masonic enough for a unique, elegant and historical wedding. We had nothing but an overall amazing experience. I can’t thank Melanie and her team enough for making our day the best we would ask for.

The Masonic Temple was everything we could have wished for in a venue and more. Melanie was awesome to work with (as were the security guards and bar staff- everyone was exceptionally friendly), the space is gorgeous, and so much was included we barely had to coordinate anything. Our wedding day wouldn't have been the same anywhere else.

We had our wedding at the Masonic Temple in September 2018 and everything was perfect! We are so grateful to Melanie and her team at the Masonic for all their work to pull off an amazing night. We had both our ceremony (chapel) and reception (Crystal Ballroom) with a cocktail hour in between. This venue is really a hidden gem in Detroit and our guests loved the vintage, art deco style.
Here are some information I know I would have appreciated as a bride:
-Communication with Melanie (the venue coordinator) was amazing and prompt! She is a professional in every sense of the word and really cared about our details and event as much as we did. She is a great asset to the Masonic.
-Valet and security were available (for a cost) and we heard no complaints! With a venue this large, security was so helpful in helping our guests get to where they needed to be.
-Bar service was great!
-The space in the Crystal Ballroom was gorgeous and large enough to accommodate our large wedding (250 people).

The only two complaints we had was that the beautiful chapel and the getting ready rooms seemed to run very hot. Our wedding was on a hot day, but still - i'm glad we had a short ceremony. The other complaint has to do with the outside caterer that the Masonic uses, T & M Catering. The food was fine - not spectacular, but not terrible. However, despite confirming that refills of bread baskets and the family style pasta would be offered when requested by guests, this did not happen. Disappointing, especially since we had specifically asked about this during our tasting.

Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend the Masonic Temple. It was a lovely venue with amazing service and hardworking staff.

We are so thankful we chose to get married at the Masonic Temple. Melanie and her team were organized, responsive and helpful. We received so many compliments about the food, it tasted like a delicious restaurant meal - not your standard "wedding" food. The staff was very attentive to our wedding party and made sure we had drinks and food. Dessert was included when not serving your own cake - this was our favorite! We opted for a tiramisu, and everyone loved it! This was also a huge money saver.

The day of went flawlessly. We had both the ceremony and reception at the Masonic. We received so many compliments about how beautiful and unique our venue was. It is truly a hidden gem

After someone recommended the Masonic Temple to us, we decided to take a tour and ended up deciding on the location for our wedding and reception. Our wedding was on 8/12/2017 and I couldn't be more happy with our selection of this venue. Everything turned out absolutely perfect. Guests are still raving about the cocktail hour apps and dinner. The entire staff of waiters and bar tenders were amazing. However, words can't say enough about the venue coordinator, Melanie. She was extremely responsive throughout the entire process both to myself and to other vendors I was working with (wedding planner, florist/décor). Our evening wouldn't have went as smoothly without all of her help. Thanks so much Melanie!!!

We recently held our wedding at the Masonic Temple and it was perfect!

We wanted to find a venue where we could host both our ceremony and reception and the Masonic offered a variety of options. We ended up getting married in the Chapel and hosting our reception in the Crystal Ballroom -- both spaces were beautiful.

Melanie helped us coordinate the event and she was outstanding. Throughout our two year engagement, I contacted her many times asking question after question and not only was she quick to respond but also was always helpful and willing to accommodate our requests. Before and during the event, her staff was prepared and easy to work with. The catering company (T&M) used by the Masonic did a fantastic job and the food was delicious -- our guests are still raving about the Chicken Picante!

My husband and I researched many, many venues, and I am so happy that we decided to host our wedding at the Masonic. If you’re looking for an affordable place to get married in the Detroit area, I highly recommend this venue.

Melanie and The Masonic made for an amazing wedding. We had our ceremony in the chapel which was beautiful and a great venue. All the locations for getting dressed were great and the photo opportunities were amazing. From the main theater to the pool to the roof, the Masonic allowed for a great environment. The reception held down in the Crystal Ballroom was phenomenal, everything was beautiful. Melanie was very accommodating to our requests and making everything personal. Even when our original officiant decided to crash the rehearsal, she helped us out a lot. The Masonic's caterer and service was amazing. We asked for Polish food for our reception and it was some of the best food I have had. Pierogies, stuffed cabbage and kielbasa. Everything was home made and delicious. I can't thank Melanie and The Masonic enough for their services and being an amazing venue/caterer/planner for our wedding.

This venue used to be run down but after some recent (2016) renovations it is a hidden gem. If you are seeking a glamorous breathtaking venue this is it. Prices are still reasonable, the staff is very accommodating and guests told it they thought the Colony Club was THE Detroit venue but not anymore. Nothing compares to the beauty of the Masonic. There is a hidden chapel in the building and we had both the ceremony and reception there.

I had used the Masonic Temple for my recent wedding and absolutley loved everything about it! Dorothy is the most fabulous woman to have helping you throughout the whole process. She makes sure you have all the details needed and is always available to answer any questions. Everything about the Masonic is wonderful! It was so breathtaking seeing everything come together in the Crystal Ballroom. I felt like it was right out of a fairytale. The caterer that works with the Masonic provided a tasting date and deliscious food, guests were complimenting on it all night. You are able to bring in any vendors, linens, centerpieces, photbooth, coney dogs, etc and they also are able to help you with finidng them. The valet with the package was a huge plus! I could not have chosen a better venue for my big day!

This venue is timeless and breathtaking. Dorothy was a fabulous connection. I would HIGHLY recommend this venue!

The chapel in the Masonic Temple in downtown Detroit was a gorgeous location for our hindu wedding ceremony. I loved the medieval feel of the chapel with the stain glass windows and gothic architecture. Dorothy, the coordinator at the Masonic, was very helpful and easy to work with, and did everything she could to assist us in making our wedding ceremony a success. They allowed us to have a covered flame that we needed for our ceremony. And, days before our wedding, the sound technician worked with us to get the acoustics perfect. We held the ceremony at the Masonic Temple and had the reception elsewhere. I would highly recommend this beautiful location for a ceremony.

The Masonic Temple was wonderful and made my wedding day perfect! I had some very different ideas on how to use and set up the room and they were very helpful making it happen. Dorothy Bennick was always there to answer any questions I had and was available for me to come visit the room any time I needed it. They were absolutely wonderful and I would reccomend the Masonic Temple to anyone and eveyone!!

First of all, this place is a gorgeous venue at a great value. It is completely breathtaking. Secondly, Dorothy is fantastic - she knows how to plan an event, and is super quick on the email responses. We had a few little set backs - during the rehearsal, we were asked to take a look at the ballroom set up, and luckily we did, because they had completely forgotten 3 tables. Apparently, their printer had cut off the seating arrangement, so the tables just didnt show on up their print out. I was glad that we figured that out before the big day, or else we'd have approximately 30 people without a seat! Apparently though, they set the tables for 160 instead of 120 (I only know this because Dorothy told me that the caterers were 'freaking out' thinking they didnt have enough food, because the final count was 120, and that what they had planned for). Also, the beer selection wasn't correct, but we did make a change to the contract (that had nothing to do with the beer) so, I think when they re-did it, it set back to the default choices. It was not that big of a deal, really, but the whole contract shouldn't change if one unrelated part changes. Either way, it was fixed that night. The bartenders were all very fun, too! They seemed as happy as a lot of the guests, so that was pretty cool.
Overall, it was a lovely venue for a reasonable price. I suppose it's good habit to reread the entire contract when any changes are made, so I'll just count that as a lesson learned! Dorothy was wonderful, and truthfully, I'd recommend any venue that had her as the coordinator.

Not only is the Masonic a beautiful venue, Melanie, the on site coordinator, is truly phenomenal. She is incredibly responsive, thoughtful, detail oriented and is just a nice, easy person to work with. This made planning my own wedding ten thousand times easier!!

Our guests could not stop talking about how romantic, gorgeous and unique the Masonic was. It was a total hit. Be mindful that it is an older building, and some of the enhancements offered like uplighting, charger plates and chiavari chairs are additional expenses. Even still you'll find that the Masonic is a really good value, especially when compared to similar sites in the metro Detroit area.

The Masonic Temple is a wonderful place to have a wedding. They are very flexible and willing to accommodate any special request you may have, and they are a lot less expensive than other venues in the area. They actually offer a lot more than what's listed on their website (and it's free of charge). They will even put you and your fiance's names on the sign in front of The Masonic if they do not have any other events going on at the time of your wedding. Dorothy, the event coordinator was very helpful and easy to work with. The only issues I had were that the fish dish did not taste nearly as good at dinner as it did during our tasting, and there was some confusion about when and how to serve dessert, but otherwise everything else about the venue was great.

Great venue, delicious food, flexible caterer.

The Masonic is hands down the most beautiful venue in Detroit. The price is unbeatable when you compare it to other Detroit venues. Dorothy is great to work with for the most part-at times she is a bit scattered, but I believe that is because she has many events she manages in addition to weddings. The food was absolutely delicious and the bar selection was great. Our guests are still raving about how beautiful The Masonic is. The minute you walk into the Crystal Ballroom it screams 1940's Hollywood Glam-if you are looking for the old school, vintage look, this is the best venue in the area. I did not have my ceremony at The Masonic, but just the reception. Wish I could do it all over again!

We toured the 1M Lounge at Masonic Temple and loved it…but had decided to have our ceremony somewhere else due to sentimental reasons. Right before we ordered our invitations, our original plans for the ceremony venue fell through. We reached back out to our contact at Masonic, the date/room was still available, and we booked it. The staff there was so incredibly easy to work with. I think it was ultimately a good thing that original plans fell through, because Masonic was much more accommodating, streamlined, and convenient. Valet was included in the price, and they allowed me to choose the rehearsal day/time that worked best for us without any issue. The space had adequate air conditioning. They had the room set up perfectly, had a friendly attendant with us throughout the rehearsal and ceremony, and even provided the signs with our event name on it that directed people where to go. The only reason that I did not give them a better score, is because the microphone did not work during the ceremony – it kept cutting in and out. Thankfully, the room had great acoustics..and myself, my hubby, and my officiant all were able to just go with the flow and speak loudly.

The venue is absolutely amazing! The reception space was unbelievably stunning. The staff for the reception was great! The bartenders memorized both mine and my husbands drink order.

My experience at The Masonic was very positive! The venue was beautiful, the food was delicious, they were extremely flexible, and the price was reasonable. We chose to upgrade my linens (just the napkins), and bring in florals and uplighting -- I could not have been happier with the way it turned out. We opted to have our ceremony in the Parlor Room, which really lent itself to the vintage vibe I was going for.

The venue was beautiful and Dorothy was amazing. But a week before my wedding, it was put in the news that the Masonic hadn't paid their electrical bill and their lights were going I be shut off. Dorothy assured me they would still be on for my wedding ceremony. They were, but they have had many issues with closing and such. Not sure how long they will be open.

We are very disappointed in the Masonic temple as a whole. Form the beginning, communication between us (the client) and them (the venue) was just not there. During our time working with them, we were told many different conflicting things which later caused issues at our reception. Several of the staff members were rude to not only our guests but to our vendors and us, the bride and groom. Overall, thanks to the Masonic, we as the bride and groom had one of the worst nights. If you are looking for a venue who cares about you as a couple and not just making money, run fast and far from this place. After speaking with management, we were told "they would look into it." Over a week later, there has been no communication from them and nothing has been done. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT book any event here.
