The Legacy at Green Hills Reviews

The Legacy at Green Hills is absolutely beautiful. The ceremony space has a long aisle for plenty of photo opportunities, the pergola at the front is large enough to fit most wedding parties, and has ample seating. The reception area is stunningly beautiful, with 3 walls of glass accordion doors that can be opened or closed depending on weather. During our reception the temperatures dropped down into the low-40s but the party kept rocking thanks to the space heaters that Legacy provided.

All in all, I could not have asked for a more picture perfect wedding ceremony and reception, and the team at The Legacy was a big reason why. 10/10 would recommend to anyone and everyone looking for a quiet outdoor wedding away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

What a phenomenal venue!! If you’re looking for an outdoor ceremony that has a gorgeous indoor alternative (in the event that weather gets dicey) you’ve found the spot! We had so many compliments about how beautiful the entire day was- from getting ready in the house on the property, to the ceremony, to the reception! Alex helped support us from day one- coordinating with us on our vendors, the decor rentals, everything. She helped make this a smooth process and we couldn’t have asked for a better setup on our wedding day! It had everything we wanted, and was truly a good price for it. Thank you to Alex- this was a perfect day that we will always remember and smile about!!

Alex was amazing to work with. Beyond how lovely a person she is, she went above and beyond to assist us in making changes due to covid. She puts her clients first and helps to make their dreams come true. The venue is gorgeous and we received many compliments. I am so thankful I found her and couldn't be happier I chose this venue.

We fell in love with this venue from the moment we saw it! Not only did the venue have all the amenities we were looking for, but Alex was amazing to work with. We are so glad we chose to have our special day at Legacy. Alex is so responsive to answer any questions you have leading up to and during your event. She really made our day stress-free and wonderful. The setting was so beautiful. We needed very few additional decorations because the natural scenery around us made for beautiful photo backdrops. For the few decorations we did need, we were able to rent most of it from Alex for very reasonable prices. Our wedding day was perfect and it all started with choosing Legacy as our venue.

Alex is amazing to work with super helpful through the whole wedding process and the property its self is stunning. Every guest we had made a comment about how beautiful everything was and to be honest I did minimal decorating because it really does speak for itself. We stayed for the weekend and it was nice to be able to have that time day before and the day after for sure. She has tons of rentals to pick from for just about any style you have. Even if it's out of your price range still recommend taking a look you definitely get what you pay for.

This venue is stunning and all the package options help take the stress away! We wanted an outdoor wedding but LOVED that there beautiful plan b options in case of bad weather. I chose to do the "Brides Favorite" package that included decor they already had on sight and it planning decorations a breeze! Alex, the owner, was responsive, professional, and also super warm and encouraging through out all our interactions. She has a lot experience and great ideas which are so helpful, and listens so well to what your dreams are for the day in order to help make them a reality. I would highly recommend this venue to any bride!

A hidden gem in North Kansas city. If you haven't heard of The Legacy at Green Hills you soon will. We toured several venues and knew once we toured The Legacy and met the owner Alex that it was the place we wanted to host our family/friends on one of the most important day of our lives. Alex is professional, organized, compassionate and genuinely cares about each and every one of her clients. We could not have picked a better venue for our wedding. The idea of having the entire property for the whole weekend to host our rehearsal dinner, wedding and reception was so convenient and an absolute dream come true.

We had our wedding at the Legacy on Friday, September 14th. It was an absolute dream! My husband and I are Kansas City natives, but have both lived in Chicago for 11+ years. For planning a wedding out of state, working with Alex at the Legacy was seamless.

We only looked at a few venues before the legacy. However, when we saw it, we knew it had to be our venue. We both love the outdoors & fell in love with all of the wildflowers. Our wedding lived up & exceeded our expectations.

We chose the Bride’s Favorite Package. We wouldn’t have had it any other way. It was amazing to have the house nearly a full day prior to the wedding. We loved having the overnight stay for both nights. Since a majority of our wedding party are from out of state, it was great to provide them with a place to stay.

Our only complaint is that the wedding went by way too quickly. It was so much fun & such a perfect day. If we could do it all over again, we would in a heartbeat.

Having our ceremony at the Legacy was a dream!! Alex was extremely friendly and easy to work with! She made sure our day was stress free and was helpful in every way possible. We opted to only have our ceremony at this location, but she was flexible and accommodated all of our needs!

She went above and beyond to make sure everything was taken care of and was very personable. She was quick to respond and was on time to every appointment we had. The legacy of green hills was an awesome experience and wonderful venue! Alex does an amazing job and is a hard working and works with the bride and groom very well. She responded immediately and worked with us to accommodate to our needs! You won't find anything better !

We had such a great experience with the legacy! Our whole weekend went perfectly! We could not be more pleased with everything! And of course it is such a beautiful venue and we have some amazing pictures! Every detail was perfect!

It was wonderful working with them. Everything went simple and easy.

It was perfect...the house was great to use for the bridal party, groomsmen & family to all get ready after setting up! The kitchen space was also a plus to have food & drinks set up for everyone who came early to help prepare for the ceremony & reception. We had family spend the night in the 5 bedroom house after the wedding and it was so nice to all hang out together & visit without having to go back to a hotel afterwards.
Everything is top notch...for both the wedding & the housing accommodations. I took the sheets off the bed to see what kind of mattress was on the bed because it was the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! :)
Alex was great to work with.

Not only does Alex, in charge of the venue, make sure all your questions are answered, she remembers details about you and your fiance. We ran into each other a few times at the various wedding shows my husband and I attended and she always greeted us by name and is very personable. She was quick to let us know of any changes in the status of the venue (they were building a pavilion for the reception--SO BEAUTIFUL! Make sure to get a shot in with the enchanting chandeliers) and to answer any questions we ever had and never got impatient for someone who had no idea about weddings. There is plenty of space for many guests and parking on site. So many of our guests complimented the venue selection, noting how beautiful of a location it is. This venue is scenic, beautiful, and the bonus comes as you can stay the night there with guests! The neighbors are far enough away that you could probably get grandma or your drunk uncle out for karaoke and no one would complain about the noise. This place blew me away so much that we only toured this venue before deciding on it right then and there. So don't hesitate, call Alex and make your fairytale wedding come true at the Legacy.

Alex was fantastic to work with. She made sure everything was stress free and made sure that my wedding day flowed as smooth as possible! She was a great point of reference for finding vendors and making sure my vendors had all the information thy need! The legacy has transformed into a beautiful property and it was amazing to see Alex's vision turned into reality!

I would recommend The Legacy to everyone! Alex is amazing to work with. She was very helpful during the planning process and very informative about any other services that I need it. The day of the wedding she was there helping out and making sure we had everything we need it. My husband and I are very happy we decided to have our special day here. Out of all the venues I had looked at for our wedding, The Legacy was my favorite, not only because it's absolutely stunning but because Alex is absolutely amazing. She's be awesome through the entire thing.

This venue is beautiful! It was exactly what my daughter wanted for her outdoor wedding and reception. Alex is great, she was always very helpful and accommodating to needs. It is a great location, the value for everything included you couldn't beat. We tell everyone about this venue every chance we get.

Was much pleased with The Legacy. I happy that location was minutes from airport and downtown, so very convenient for flying in and getting out to downtown if one pleases. I highly recommend to my colleagues local and out of town wherever they may be located. Staff was very helpful to one like me, not from the area. They suggested good restaurants and tourists sights! 10/10

We had the most amazing experience with The Legacy. They were very professional and were always willing to take our calls when we had any questions for them. On our Wedding weekend there wasn't any issues with the set up or take down on their half of things. They were good about not bothering the bride or groom about any behind the scenes issues and went straight to our coordinator if something did come up. We had about 230 guests and the venue was very affordable for the amount of people we had. They also let us choose our own catering company and bartenders, which saved us a ton of money! Overall we had a beautiful outdoor wedding with our friends and family that will be a day to remember for the rest of our lives. I highly recommend using their facilities for your big day!

Wow! Love this venue! I was there for a birthday celebration and was impressed with the owners' organization and attention to our needs. I've been back to visit after even more improvements to the venue were made and can only say "impressive"! The grounds are stunning! I love it so much I've booked two of my own events there, my daughter's birthday party this spring and our 25th anniversary celebration this fall. So excited to have such a great option in the Northland!

This was a beautiful venue for my daughter's outdoor wedding. Alex was very easy to work with and very accommodating to the bride and groom's needs. Renting the venue for an overnight stay is a great option for out of town guests and allows for easier wedding clean which can be done the next day.

Alex was a wonderful person to work with! She helped my day go smoothly and was very communicative! The venue is perfect and beautiful in so many ways!! The house my bridesmaids and I had everything we needed and the beds were very comfy!! Her prices are very reasonable and if I had to do everything all over again I would go back the Legacy at Green Hills!

The venue was exactly what we were looking for! We had it for the whole weekend, were able to have it for rehearsal dinner, getting ready, pictures.. you name it!! It was nice to have the ceremony and reception all at same place! A little expensive but the staff help a lot which is worth the money!

I had my wedding at the Legacy on Saturday June 04, 2016 with an overnight stay the Friday before. We had 250 guest + some overflow. i wish i could go back and relive my wedding day, everything was amazing! I’ve worked with Alex with the planning of my entire wedding. She was wonderful and great to work with and always answered my questions within a timely matter. She always kept me informed of the updates that was taking place and did the best she could to accommodate to my wish lists. She is very friendly and personable. The venue itself is beyond gorgeous. Upon my visit in May a few things were still being done, but the Legacy Team worked hard and fast to get things done for my wedding. The house itself, is wonderfully remodeled and accommodate my large family very well. It felt homey and cozy! (Make sure you have a good cleaning crew because they do not do any cleaning after the reception, nor do they have a dumpster to throw trash away, you are responsible to find people for this or take care of it yourself)

Overall, I am happy with how things turned out minus the few issues we encountered. Alex was a pleasure to work with and made things as easiest as possible. The venue is definitely a great option if you wish to have an outdoor wedding and reception! You’ll love the house and space, you won’t regret it!

Suggestions/Comments:
Get markers/signs to mark the rows for parking. This will allow for better/closer parking by guests.
Provide a dumpster for usage. Yes it’s an eyesore, but it’ll be easier for those who do not have trucks to load trash and will make it much easier for those who have to clean up theirselves. It would of been nice to have been reminded of this so we could of better prepared for the trash or arranged for a dumpster ourselves. The staff was wonderful to work with, however we had a few issues that my family ran into with the older lady.

When my husband and I were looking for our wedding venue we had four things in mind: (1) beautiful outdoor venue on a farm or country setting, (2) available this fall - we planned our wedding in less than 6 months, (3) within our budget, and (4) accessible for our guests for travel (many outdoor venues are a long drive from the city or on long, windy back roads) plus parking. We found the LG at GH and we felt we hit the jackpot! It checked all our boxes!! Since they are a new venue, most of the weekends were still available and it was within our budget. We opted to stay in the farmhouse the night before the wedding for the ceremony rehearsal and dinner + overnight. We had the entire day Saturday to set up for the reception/ceremony. Since the pavilion was not ready this fall, the tent was set up for us and we could begin putting up tables, decorations, etc. that morning. Beware, they don't have dumpsters yet, so you will be responsible for removing your trash at the end of the night. Luckily, my husband and I contacted Alex (the owner) ahead of time asking if we could rent a dumpster for the evening, and she graciously agreed to handle the trash for us free of charge. I don't think that is common practice for them, but she wanted us to have an awesome experience. Alex is very responsive to emails and very willing to help. On the day of the wedding, they weren't as available as I would have expected. They have a gator I was told would be available to us on the day of the wedding to help cart us around for photographs (my gown was very voluminous). When we needed the gator they were MIA. We had to call them and they had to drive back out to the venue to get the gator. I was surprised by that. I just assumed they would be there all day. The farmhouse is gorgeous and the guests loved the photo booth we set up inside the house. The luxury bathrooms were nice and the guests enjoyed those! They still have a few kinks to work out though being a new venue. Overall great!

Beautiful venue! Our guests loved the place and the new pavilion! Very spacious! Having the house for the wedding party to stay and rehearsal dinner made the weekend so very special!

The venue itself is absolutely STUNNING! It's one of those places that is so perfect, you'll find yourself needing very minimal decorations because the nature surrounding you is beautiful enough. We had our ceremony outdoors at the pergola and our reception outdoors in the open-air pavilion. Our wedding party found the farmhouse to be a quaint and perfect place to get ready, and my out-of-town family members enjoyed staying at the farmhouse after the wedding so they could easily get to the airport (just 10 minutes away!) the next day.

THINGS TO NOTE:
- There is NOT a full kitchen anywhere at the venue, so caterers will need to provide a way to keep food cool/warm. There is a standard kitchen with a standard fridge in the farmhouse, but that is all.
- You can rent linens through the venue, which wonderfully simplifies that process. They will take care of setting them up, dry cleaning them, and everything! No family has to worry about returning them to a third-party company after the wedding, which is so helpful!
- There is an upcharge for weddings over 200 guests.
- The pavilion provides a rainout option for outdoor ceremonies.
- The venue is 5 minutes away from a WalMart, which is always reassuring for day-of emergencies.

Since my wedding took place during the venue's second summer in operation, there were a few instances of communication that could have gone smoother. However, I am certain that this will only continue to improve as the venue and its owners gain more experience.

I can't wait to see this venue grow more popular for Kansas City weddings. It is so quaint and perfect, that I have no doubt more and more brides will be discovering it soon! You won't be disappointed!

While the Legacy of Green Hills offers a stunning backdrop to any wedding, there were many challenges experienced with organizing and finalizing details. In summary, the owner/manager of this venue is incredibly unorganized, inexperienced, and frankly, incompetent.
I suggest that anyone choosing to book a Legacy of Green Hills wedding get everything in writing and study your contract closely. During various discussions, frequently there would be verbal commitments made, yet, those commitments were either not recalled or were retracted at the last minute. This happened so often that it resulted in me documenting all conversations and requiring the management to provide written confirmation of the outcome. It required significant hand holding, back tracking, documenting, and trying to keep the venue owner/manager organized of what was being provided and when.
Lastly, be cautious of assuming the package costs within the contract are what you agree to as the final balance. We originally selected this venue because we wanted an “all-in fee” without the endless al a’ carte options or hidden charges. It was quickly after signing the contract that we discovered everything was for “rent” or required additional payment, including table and chair set-up. You can imagine my surprise on the day before the wedding when we were told we must set-up the table/chairs for the rehearsal dinner that already required an additional cost per hour.
Again, the venue is beautiful but unfortunately that is the only positive for this venue. It is definitely not for the bride that does not have time to cross check all details and care to worry about hidden fees. If you are a bride that is organized and expects the vendors you hired to take care of the details you paid for, I would not recommend this venue.
