A real Gainesville gem

When we started searching for venues local to Gainesville, The Historic Thomas Center immediately stood out. We were having our ceremony at a Catholic church but needed a reception venue, and I’ll admit, I’m a bit greedy. I wanted indoor and outdoor space, historic architecture, character, gravitas - all at a reasonable price. The Thomas Center checked every box and then some.

One of the biggest highlights of working with this venue was Dominique. She gave us an incredible tour, patiently answered every question I had, and stayed in communication with us leading up to the wedding day. She checked in multiple times, and I always felt supported and in good hands.

On the day of, we had 10 hours of full access to the property, which gave our vendors plenty of time to set up and kept everything stress-free. Our cocktail hour was held in the Turtle Court, followed by dinner and dancing in the Spanish Court. The staff were friendly and had all the tables and chairs set up exactly according to our seating chart before we even arrived.

And the property itself was truly perfect. The historic charm, the architecture, and the ambience made our reception feel surreal. The Thomas Center is a real Gainesville gem.

Gorgeous venue, best value!

For our 3/26/22 wedding, we booked the Historic Thomas Center. We had a great experience throughout the entire touring/booking process. Kathy and Jessica provided excellent service and had timely responses to all of my questions.

This venue allows you to book out different rooms/areas based upon what you need, and for what length of time. However, the venue as a whole only books one event per day, so the entire grounds are basically exclusive. We rented out the Turtle Court, Veranda, Period Room, Long Gallery, and Spanish Court for different areas, and all of the spots were clean, well maintained, and gorgeous for our guests! The pricing for this venue was also extremely competitive with others that we looked into and found that it was worth every penny.

We took bridal and family pictures out in the garden. Please be advised that while the signs clearly state dogs are not allowed, there were multiple dogs in the park, and dog feces on the ground. Be careful where you step!

Very helpful and responsive

Long story short, I had to cancel my wedding, but I did work with this venue for almost a year preparing for the event. I worked with Kathy and her coworker, both of whom were amazing!! I worked mostly with Kathy who was reassuring, extremely responsive, took time to explain things, and really put my mind at ease. She was wonderful. Plus, you can’t beat the price here!

Perfect Venue with Vintage Charm

The Thomas Center holds a very special place in my heart. In my opinion, it is the perfect venue space. Located in the heart of Gainesville near downtown, it has beautiful historical charm, several photo shoot locations and to me is the most perfect venue space! My husband and I used to have picnics under the large, magical oak tree and under that same tree is where we said our vows to each other. Honestly, for us there weren’t any cons to this place. Some people may not be happy if you want to use sparkles and they do have a limit on how many people fit inside the venue space. However, those restrictions were not an issue for us at all.
To us the pros included:
-Ceremony and reception in the same location
-Beautiful venue space inside and out
-Accessible parking
-Helpful and organized staff
-Great network of vendors to work with
-Reasonably priced for everything that it included
The staff at the Thomas Center went above and beyond to make our wedding day feel extra special! Kathy Nguyen and Jessica Loveless were phenomenal to work with, especially planning a wedding with several COVID restrictions in place. They answered all of my questions in a timely fashion and helped us plan a safe, intimate and beautiful wedding during a pandemic. The day of my wedding everyone greeted me so warmly and I will never forget everything they did to make us feel welcome and comforted. From the bottom of our hearts, want to thank the entire Thomas Center staff for all of the work they did to make our wedding day a dream come true!

Gorgeous Wedding Venue at an affordable price

Leslie Ladendorf and Jessica Loveless with the City of Gainesville and Thomas Center were so helpful and enthusiastic. They worked closely with us so we could have the dream wedding we wanted despite all the COVID restrictions imposed by the county. Leslie and Jessica went above and beyond to ensure that the event was perfect, safe, and every detailed was covered. Our wedding theme was lights and stars. Leslie and Jessica were even able to convince the city of Gainesville to allow us to keep the gorgeous Christmas lights that were in the magnolia trees around the fountain. Those lights which were blue and gold (our wedding colors), added an unforgettable feeling and made the ambiance feel like a true fairy tale. Leslie was on premises the day of the wedding making sure everything was going well. We are very appreciative of all the time and effort put forth by both Leslie and Jessica. The event would not have been the success it was without their help and support.

Gainesville’s Hidden Gem!!!

This venue is BEAUTIFUL and the staff is incredible. I had my wedding here and I could not have asked for a better location. The venue provides rentals à la carte which makes it perfect for any budget. I’m so happy I went with the Thomas Center. Venues can be so crazy expensive but The Thomas Center gave me the beauty and elegance that i wanted for my wedding without the crazy price tag. Highly HIGHLY recommend.

Beautiful venue!

Erica and Kathy were great in helping me with venue decisions for my wedding.
I was a little complicated and wanted an all outdoor wedding in the gardens. They happily helped me write up an outline and everything.
We had a tropical storm come through the day of my wedding, but the staff was really great about helping us move everything inside.
My wedding day went sooooo smoothly--thank you to the staff who helped set up the room as well as worked with my coordinators. You did amazing!

Great Choice!!

We loved everything about the Thomas center. Although we got rained out and couldn't have the outside wedding that we wanted. Our wedding was still beautiful. Our guests are still talking about it!

The Thomas Center is a beautiful location!

I really enjoyed having my wedding here. The space inside and outside is just gorgeous. I was able to take beautiful pictures and have plenty of space in side for food and dancing the night away.

Beautiful!!

The venue is beautiful! Working with Erica Chatman was a blessing. She was very accommodating; she even made some adjustments we had the day before the wedding. The Thomas Center is very well kept, with many beautiful areas. Would definitely recommend this location for weddings and any other gathering.

Friendly and helpful with a lot of info to get us started planning

The events coordinator at the Thomas Center is fantastic! So helpful...so much information and offered ideas that we had not thought of. We ended up not even having to ask many questions. She answered everything with all of the information that she provided. I am so pleased that my daughter chose this venue! We cannot wait for the big day to get here!

Perfect Venue!

The Thomas was amazing for our whole wedding experience! We had the change the date six months in, and they were so accommodating and understanding. Erica communicated with us every step of the way and was super helpful! The day of our wedding we couldn't have asked for a better set up. The best part of using the Thomas Center was the value and not having to worry about a thing! They took care of set up, break down and clean up after everyone had left. We truly encouraged our wedding there and couldn't have asked for a better day.

Beautiful Ceremony!!

First, I must say that the Historic Thomas Center was a beautiful location for our ceremony. We used the Turtle Court and we didn’t have to decorate much as it was an already gorgeous space. We worked with Erica Chatman to reserve the space and she was pleasant, communicative, and thorough. She made sure that we had everything we needed. This place is a gem in Gainesville and I am so happy that we decided to make it a part of our special day!

Wedding celebration

We were happy our wedding ceremony was in this historical place. We invited up to 25 people, but the created atmosphere was incredible. Although our ceremony was in the evening, we were still able to take some wonderful pictures. It is really beautiful and magic place.

Erica was the fastest to respond out of all my vendors to every email. The venue was the least expensive of our options and also looked the most expensive. Great staff, great venue!

I really enjoyed having the Thomas center As our wedding venue. The staff were really nice, and the coordinator was always responsive and answered all of our questions. The Spanish court is especially beautiful in the evening. The added benefits are that many wedding vendors in Gainesville are familiar with the Thomas Center, It is city and so it is cheaper than private venues, end it is big enough to have both the ceremony and reception at the same venue. We had our ceremony at the fountain which was nice, but the water was pretty loud and made it hard to hear our voices on video tape. They Recently cleaned the fountain which was great because it looks a lot better. The other great thing is that if the ceremony is outdoors and it looks like it will rain, the staff will be happy to remove the outdoor chairs up to an hour before the ceremony and not charge for that outdoor chairs.

Our wedding on 7/15/18 was so incredibly amazing. All of our out of town guests were amazed by the beauty of our venue! We received so many compliments. It provided great value to us because it had so much beauty and character on its own that we could be very minimal with our decorations. Everyone we spoke with at the Thomas Center in the planning process was helpful, responsive, and detailed. They are experienced and made the process easy for us. It's difficult to beat the natural and historic beauty and amazing location. This is truly one of Gainesville's gems. We couldn't be happier with the entire experience working with the Thomas Center. I will always look back with so much happiness on the memories made there. I feel so lucky that we found such an amazing spot to celebrate the start of marriage with all our family and friends. I sincerely recommend the Thomas Center!!

This place is amazing! We did our ceremony at the Baughmen Center and then did our reception at the Thomas Center. It is beautiful and Erica is amazing to work with! We had around 100 people at our wedding and it was the perfect size. Would high recommend having an event here :)

Had our wedding at the Thomas Center in the spring and it was wonderful! Erica and the rest of the staff were great in accommodating everything. Price was very reasonable. A couple tips I would give for anyone looking- we had about 85 guests and anything more than that would have been a little too crowded. Also, it is a public park, so be prepared for a couple people from the public to be on the grounds. Also: no kegs, no candles, and no rice/confetti/anything that is thrown. But overall, such a great venue! Especially for our daytime wedding with the light coming through the skylight.

Erica did an excellent job of guiding us as we prepared for our wedding. The venue was absolutely beautiful and the cost was very reasonable. We did not have to do much decorating as the venue both indoors and outdoors already had such beautiful scenery. It was the perfect place for a morning wedding. Our staff member was very helpful and accommodating during our event and helped make the event go smoothly.

We are so very happy that The Thomas Center was the place we got married! They were so flexible with us and they helped us make it day so special. For to my husband having a very bad sunburn, we had to move the ceremony inside and the staff was quick to make it happen and we are so thankful for that. It was a wonderful experience that we will appreciate and cherish for the rest of our lives.

Erica was incredible to work with. She was able to answer so many questions quickly. The venue itself is perfect if you want that old fashioned vintage feel. The staff who was there..we didn’t see much of them..which made us feel like we were at our own home for the day. When we needed help from the staff they were there but the unobtrusiveness was a plus. Now that the weddfing is over, I’m hoping we have another event in the future just so we can hang at this beautiful location.

It was a wonderful experience. Mrs Erica and the team always respond to all of my questions fast, and they were extremely helpful and patience. They guided me through couple of steps and offer vendors which really help me to make wedding planning easily. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone.

The Thomas Center is absolutely gorgeous. I had my wedding reception in the Spanish Court and the Long Galley and it went very smoothly. Erica is a pleasure to work with and has a wealth of knowledge about weddings. She is friendly, helpful, organized and extremely professional. My guests had an incredible time and loved the venue.

As an out of town bride, I can say this is a trustworthy spot to get married when you really need to trust the people on the ground. Erica, the events director, was extremely responsive, worked on my vision with me, and even met with me a couple of days out to go over last minute details. The facility is gorgeous and a good value. For our 50-person reception, the interior of the Spanish Court was the perfect size. Thank you guys so much!

We had our reception at the Thomas Center (in the Spanish Court & Long Gallery) and it was perfect! We had nearly 120 guests and the space was perfect - everyone was even able to fit in the Long Gallery at the end of the night for our cake cutting. Erica was a pleasure to work with and made everything so easy. I was planning our wedding from Texas, so it was nice to have her quick responses and knowledgeable suggestions.

The Thomas Center was a beautiful reception venue, we were so happy that we picked it for our wedding. Erica was so pleasant to work with throughout the process. We live outside of Gainesville, and she worked flexibly with us for meetings so we could get married in my hometown. Additionally, there was rain last minute and Erica made switching cocktail hour locations extremely simple. The staff was wonderful! Highly recommend!

We had an absolutely beautiful ceremony and reception at the Thomas Center! Erica was incredibly helpful and made sure we had everything we needed. Our day went off without a hitch. The day of staff was very helpful and professional. I would highly recommend the Thomas Center for any event, but especially for a wedding!

My experience with The Thomas Center for my wedding was amazing! I worked with Erica, and she is so on top of things! She responded very quickly to my emails and made it easy to book the event. We did the ceremony and reception in the same space, and everything went perfectly. The building and grounds are absolutely beautiful, and we got great photos. I would definitely hold an event there again!

Erica was extremely helpful throughout the entire process and felt just like I was talking to a friend. The staff the day-of made sure everything went smoothly and I didn't have to worry about a thing. And the venue itself is absolutely gorgeous of course!

This is a really great venue! We had a pre-party in the gardens outside and then moved the party inside for the ceremony. I was thrilled with how gorgeous and accessible the entire place is... and the price can't be beat.

This is an absolute beautiful venue! Every time I visit, there is something different in bloom in the amazing gardens. The event coordinator, Erica, was such a blessing to work with. She would respond immediately to our e-mails and always had a solution for any issues. We didn't have to worry about anything on the day of our wedding. Highly recommend!

The gallery and historical rooms were not initially open as agreed but this was taken care of immediately after bringing the issue to the staff's attention. Overall, had a very positive experience and would use the Thomas Center again and recommend the venue to others.

The Thomas Center is such a beautiful place and provides an amazing setting for a wedding. I fell in love with the Thomas Center the first time I stumbled upon it exploring the downtown area. When I found out you could get married there I definitely kept it in mind for the future! Luckily I met someone who shared my love of all things vintage and historic places. We absolutely could not have asked for a better place to have held our ceremony (in front of the oak tree) and reception. The Thomas center definitely has that wow factor! We received many compliments from our guests on our choice of venue. I really do think you get an amazing space for the price. If you're considering The Thomas Center definitely don't hesitate to contact Erica she is super helpful and can answer any questions you have!

This is such a gorgeous venue! All of my guests absolutely loved it! It was like a destination wedding in town. Erica (site coordinator) was great, prompt, and very organized! I highly recommend!

The venue is beautiful! Our wedding was held outdoors and I received numerous compliments and questions regarding the venue due to how nice it was. I didn't even decorate, the moss hanging from the trees and the lights we strung up were more than enough. As a friend mentioned to me in passing, she felt as though she were attending a fancy garden party at an estate.

Even better than the venue itself though was the staff! Erica Chatman was wonderful! She was helpful, attentive, responsive, and flexible. She went out of her way to provide me with so much more assistance than I ever would have guessed a venue representative would provide; which I am so appreciative for since I was planning this wedding from Hawaii. She was truly a delight to work with. I would highly recommend this venue.

The Thomas Center was the perfect place for us. We had about 100 guests, and we all fit in the Spanish Court comfortably. We had a morning wedding, so only had a lunch reception. We didn't have any dancing, but if we did, it would have been a little tight. It's a beautiful location, and makes for great photographs.

We had our wedding at the Thomas Center in late September. The staff was amazing about monitoring weather conditions in the area and planning for any changes as a result of the weather. Everything went perfectly! Erika helped throughout the entire evening and was on-top of everything! We had to do nothing but enjoy ourselves. We are so grateful to the entire venue staff for providing a carefree and amazingly fun evening for us to treasure for all time!

We had our wedding ceremony and reception in the Spanish court of the Historic Thomas Center. It is a beautiful venue. The staff are very helpful and accommodating. Originally we were going to have our ceremony outside by the fountain but due to rain we had to move indoors. The venue accommodated us last minute to alter the location. We and our guests had a fabulous time. I highly recommend having your event at the Thomas Center.

I cannot recommend the Thomas Center enough for any event that you may be planning! My husband and I got married there and Erica and her Thomas Center staff worked with us and went above and beyond to make our day perfect! Erica is so wonderful, accommodating and easy to work with! We had quite a few last minute changes to guest count and such, and Erica worked with us on each and every one! No problem at all! I learned that there is pretty much no question that she does not know the answer to, no matter how obscure you may think it is (and let me tell you...I asked quite a few extremely obscure ones!). The Thomas Center is absolutely stunning and makes the perfect backdrop for any event! I cannot rave enough about it, its staff and amenities!

I highly recommend the Thomas center for a wedding. We had a cocktail hour in turtle court and a dinner/dancing reception in the Spanish gallery. It is gorgeous and a really good value. The grounds are also perfect for wedding pictures and there is ample parking. Erica is also so easy to work with and professional and you know exactly what you are paying for. Their rules are reasonable but something to consider before signing [no open flames (i.e. candles, sparklers), no throwing anything (i.e. rice, bubbles)]. The only problem I encountered in the entire experience was the air temperature in the Spanish gallery. It was uncomfortably warm (per my guests and myself) during our reception and I asked the staff to turn up the A/C. They said they could not and it was set during the week and could not be changed. This was a minor annoyance but overall I would still recommend the Thomas center without hesitation.

The entire Historic Thomas Center is beautifully maintained and the gem of Gainesville! From the marriage service in the Turtle Garden, to cocktails on the veranda to the reception in the Atrium everything was picture perfect! Working with Erica Chapman, Facilities Coordinator was a pleasure from start to finish. This was a wonderful experience and an absolutely beautiful wedding!!

Erica and staff are exceedingly friendly and well versed in their craft. They allow the couple and the family to go into as much detail as they like in regards to arranging the event, and they are very well versed in compromise to mutual agreement. As this is a state run facility there are certain guidelines they must abide by (no throwing rice, no bubbles, you must serve alcohol in plastic containers); but the venue is so reasonably priced and gorgeous you really won't mind!

The Thomas Center was the perfect reception venue! We had cocktails on the terrace, before moving inside for a seated dinner and dancing in the Spanish Court with an open bar and the cake in the Long Gallery. It was perfect, and Erica was a joy to work with. Highly recommended!!

The Thomas Center is an incredibly beautiful location for any kind of event, but for our wedding reception, it was beyond what we could have hoped for. We had a cocktail hour out on the front veranda, open bar in the long hall, and seated dinner and dance floor for 100 people in the court. Erica and the rest of the staff were very friendly, helpful, and accommodating and were major players in the best day of our lives.

You won't find a classier, more beautiful location for an event in Gainesville.

I could not have asked for a better location for my wedding, it was all that wanted and more, they were there to assist me in everything I needed. My husband had some unfortunate medical problems 3 months before our original wedding plans. We found the Thomas Center and decided to have our ceremony there since we cancelled our original venue (which was way too expensive). The Thomas Center was very affordable and understanding, and let us book last minute. Their coordinator Erika was more than helpful in person and through e-mail. The wedding was Absolutley perfect and the scenery was stunning. Our photos turned out great... And thanks to their help and flexibility we still got to have a nice wedding, despite all the medical issues.

I would recommend this venue to any of my close friends, family, and colleagues.

Our wedding was just perfect for us -- We got married in front of the fountain at noon, and had lunch on the veranda afterwards. It was the perfect location for a small, intimate wedding. And since my husband and I absolutely love the great outdoors, the woodsy, natural surroundings seemed like the perfect way to launch the beginning of our new life together. The layout was splendid, and allowed us to move seamlessly from the wedding to the luncheon reception without missing a beat. Erica also asked all the right questions, making sure all the details were covered -- things I might have missed the first time around, had her intake process not been so thorough. I would highly recommend this location for its beauty, the ease in pulling off an event there, and the attention to detail by the staff. The biggest surprise to me is that it's also one of the most economical places in the city to stage a wedding, especially if you want both your wedding and reception at the same location!

Absolutely beautiful location especially for small weddings. I had about 140 people and we were pretty tight in the reception hall. Also beware if you are getting married in December there is a comically over sized Christmas tree in the reception hall. Its so big you wonder how they got it in the building. Overall I had a wonderful experience though!

We used the Spanish Court inside The Thomas Center for our 15 year vow renewal. The staff was courteous and very professional and made all planning stress free. The room looked beautiful set up with a mixture of round tables and tall cocktail tables. They had a flat screen tv/DVD for us to use to play our wedding video recap. They also have a beautiful grand piano that we used and hired our own pianist. Our guests raved about the facility and enjoyed learning about the history of The Thomas Center. I highly recommend using this facility for any special event!

The Thomas Center is a beautiful place! Erica was great to work with! She was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. She made the planning easy. The staff that worked the night of the wedding were friendly and helpful.

We went to Sweetwater, the Harn, and the Hilton... but wound up falling head over heels with The Thomas Center. Erica is helpful and sweet and very good with communication. The space is gorgeous!! Being able to have the ceremony and reception in the same place was also a huge plus. The grounds make for beautiful photographs--no need to find another photo location! I could go on and on, but just understand this: if you're getting married in Gainesville, The Thomas Center will be the most beautiful and affordable time and time again!

My husband and I had our wedding ceremony at The Thomas Center. It was absolutely gorgeous! The staff were helpful and constantly communicated with me about what I wanted and expected. The Thomas Center was extremely flexible as they let us bring our own chairs and decorations to decorate for the ceremony. Erika, the event organizer, was extremely helpful and always available to answer questions. I always received immediate responses from her via email and phone. The Thomas Center even allowed us to change our date at no cost when we found our my husband would be deployed during the first date we chose. The Thomas Center is a beautiful place to have a wedding and the staff make it an enjoyable experience by doing whatever they can to make your day special! I highly recommend checking The Thomas Center out for any event!

My husband and I got married in October and we were thrilled with the Thomas Center. It is a beautiful venue and Erica, the young lady who is in charge, is wonderful to work with. She is attentive, friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. She is kind and makes sure you get exactly what you are looking for. The price of the Thomas center is really reasonable and they let you pay only for the parts of the center you use. If we were to do it over again we would absolutely get married there again!

The historic Thomas Center, full of rich history and timeless beauty inside and out located in the heart of Gainesville, Florida, was the perfect venue for our evening time wedding reception. Erica Chatman really bent over backwards to accommodate our unconventional outdoor wedding day at the Thomas Center! We had a ketubah signing inside, the ceremony under the oak tree, cocktail hour on the patio, dinner around the fountain, and dancing and dessert in Turtle Court. It was a gorgeous day, and all who attended said it was like a wedding in a movie! The historical setting and gorgeous grounds made for a day we will never forget. Thank you so much!

Everything about my husband and my interaction with The Historic Thomas Center surpassed my expectations. From the first time we met with Erica she was prepared, professional, and always answered many emails. She had binders with photos to get ideas together and was very flexible about which areas we wanted to reserve. She tirelessly supported us the entire way through.
On the day of our wedding everything was set up perfectly. They even did it earlier than expected so we could get everything rolling without any hiccups. The staff on duty during our wedding (I forget the gentleman's name, it was such a whirlwind of emotions!) was so helpful and flexible the entire evening. Every time I walked past him he asked if there was anything he could do to help. He was kind enough to lock all of our personal belongings in The Period Room during the reception so we didn't have to worry about losing car keys when we were getting down on the dance floor. Everything was seamless and tidy the entire night. I will be singing their praises to anyone looking for a venue for their special events!

We are extremely happy with the outcome of booking with the Thomas Center. The coordinator was helpful and nice, the venue was well worth the money, which was less than we anticipated (always a plus!) and the employees we needed from the event were complimented again and again on how respectful and willing they were to help!

The venue is gorgeous, and it is very budget-friendly. Erica at the Thomas Center was very helpful and knowledgeable prior to my wedding. The staff the day of were also helpful.

We used the Thomas Center as our wedding venue and I am SO glad that we did. It was a beautiful location and just perfect for the look we were going for. I chose the Thomas Center because of a large, striking oak tree in the gardens. We had our ceremony under the tree and then had the reception inside, in the Spanish Court. It was the perfect size for us (about 70 people) and everyone remarked on how beautiful it was. Erica (the facility director) was wonderful to work with and helped answer any and all of the questions I had. The Thomas Center was the perfect place for our wedding and I recommend it to everyone!

This venue is amazing. Totally beautiful and moderately priced. There are several areas of the building for different charges, indoor and outdoor settings. Set in the middle of Historic Gainesville, this old Spanish hotel is one of the nicest places in town to get married. The architecture is beautiful and the period antiques help make for a gorgeous backdrop for the bride and team while getting ready. We got married in December, and the whole building is decked out for Christmas. It really is gorgeous. We had two rooms, all the tables and chairs and an attendant, and not including the refundable security deposit, we only paid $500 for 6 hours- they set up and tear down. If you choose to get married here, you will have a fabulous experience and a beautiful wedding.

We loved our site! The outside is absolutely beautiful. Guests were extremely delighted to see the scenery behind us as we said our vows. The people here are very easy to work with, and they truly want your wedding day to be magnificent.
