    Wedded Bliss

The moment I entered The Historic Cedar School was the moment I knew where we should exchange our vows. Beautiful gardens and a school bell welcomed us to the charming brick building. We were met by the sweet, talented, and beautiful Jaclyn who assists couples in making their dreams come true. What a vision the room was -complete with hard wood floors, antiques, white walls, and gloriously lit by the sunlight shining through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The room was the perfect size to host our intimate ceremony and reception complete with our closest friends and family. Our wish was to focus on one-another in a beautiful setting without detracting from our purpose of becoming husband and wife. The Historic Cedar School made our wish come true in a truly caring, selfless, and flawless way.

    Beautiful and intimate venue!

We had our wedding at the cedar school this summer and it was beautiful. Jaclyn, the manager was a pleasure to work with through the whole experience. She answered all of my (many many) emails very promptly and was always friendly. She was also our day of coordinator and did such an amazing job! She ran the show very smoothly and professionally. She has the eye of a designer as well as very professional event planning skills- which is fantastic mix. The location itself is beautiful both the grounds and building. We utilized the backyard for our ceremony and reception and we also utilized the building. It's a very versatile space and had many options for our 80 guests and our photos. We also loved all of the comfy couches that are around the property! We could not have been happier and recommend this venue highly!!

A Sense of Belonging in the Heart of Historic Troutdale

Our wedding day was a celebration based around 'community'. Cakes, pies, florals, food, coordination, helpers, and a majority of our vendors were friends that we had made along the journey of our life, and we wanted our wedding to emphasize how those relationships had shaped us.

Those at The Historic Cedar School added to that sense of collective belonging by being the most caring, compassionate, flexible and understanding team I have ever met! Even the building has a history of bringing the city together for events, plays, and parties. They opened up their home (literally, the owner still lives in a small portion of the historic building) and embraced us as friends. Communication was clear, excitement was shared, and our venue became a true 'home' that night.

Jaclyn, the venue manager and in house stylist/ coordinator, was a blessing in disguise! She has such an effortless vision on design and placement, we gladly let her take the reigns on turning our DIY wedding look intentional. She highlighted all the right items that had sentimental value to us, all the while still uplifting the overall aesthetic of the day (even though we had to put up tents the night before to combat the downpour that occurred)!

The open vendor policy made it easy for us to bring in friends and vendors (that we could afford) and the multiple on-site ceremony locations allowed us chose one that felt true to our style. We held a small/ intimate ceremony in their auditorium, cocktail hour in the front while more guests arrived, and reception in the back yard area!

Our wedding was everything and then some! What else could we possibly say? Thank you, Jaclyn and Colleen, for welcoming us with open arms and for overextending your help, love, and support.

Don't sleep on the opportunity to experience what we did. It was nothing short of perfect!

    The Perfect Venue!

This venue could not have been any more perfect and intimate. I was a long distance bride and they made me feel taken care of. No request was too big or too small and the staff was very accommodating to myself, my bride, and my guests. I can’t recommend The Historic Cedar School enough.

I hosted a bridal shower at the Historic Cedar School this past May and it was such a great experience. What a beautiful canvas to start with, it didn't take much on our end to make the space absolutely perfect. Jaclyn was extremely helpful with getting the details sorted out ahead of time and providing all info needed in a timely manner, as well as provided trusted vendors in the area.
The grounds and building are so well kept, they are stunning! Everything has so much detail and thought put into the design as well as keeping the integrity of the historic building intact. Everything was also very clean and made for a really easy and quick set up. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for an elegant, artistic, creative backdrop to their event. You will not be disappointed!

My bridal shower was hosted at The Historic Cedar School in June of this year. We worked closely with Colleen and Jaclyn on all aspects of the shower, from design and theme to day of set up and take down. They were extremely responsive and a pleasure to work with. Both have such an artistic eye that truly shined through this process.

The beautiful historic brick building was the perfect backdrop to my outdoor garden brunch themed shower. As you can see from my pictures not a detail was missed. They set up a long table with beautiful antique dishes and glass wear adorned with a long eucalyptus floral runner. In addition to the waffle and mimosa bar we had a large seating area set up with vintage couches and chairs to open gifts. It was truly the shower of my dreams.

I would recommend this venue for any event. Although my shower was outdoors the inside of the old school house is beautiful. With hard wood floors and large windows to bring in the natural light this space one of a kind.

September 16, 2017 was the day of my son Jordan's wedding reception. We had it at the Historic Cedar school such a fun venue. The day was perfect Jaclyn the event coordinator was really amazing and kept the event right on track. Jaclyn coordinated the timing perfectly. We had dancing and a great DJ, a cute bar set up inside and catering outside, the set up was perfect we were all able to visit with all our guests. I think this venue was perfect and would recommend it for any event we will have in the future.

A beautiful country setting with vintage charm

We loved having our wedding at the Historic Cedar School this Sepetmeber! It was a beautiful setting and had the outdoor country feel, along with the views of Mt. Hood, but with the benefit of only being 30 minutes outside of Portland. It is a good option for smaller to medium sized weddings, we had about 90 guests and it didn't feel tight. September was unusually rainy this year and as our date approached we decided to rent tents to cover the dining area and dance floor. Jaclyn the event manager had a local recommendation for this service that saved us a bunch of money over the larger rental companies, which as the last minute cost it was much appreciated. I will recommend also renting some outdoor heaters as well if you are getting married in either Spring or early Fall. It was also unseasonably cold this year so we wish we had planned for that. However, again the venue was flexible and let us shift the dancing indoors to the auditorium space to stay warm, but note the capacity is 50 guests in there. The venue allowed all of the outside vendors we wanted to use. We had an Airstream trailer bar service, as well as our caterers that brought a large grill, and wedding Llamas! All fit on the grounds nicely. The Historic Cedar School was a beautiful venue at a great value and we were very pleased by how everything came together.

    All-in-one venue

We had our wedding at the schoolhouse this past October and it was BEAUTIFUL! The grounds were well groomed and they worked with my vision of scattered leaves.
Jaclyn, the wedding coordinator, also decorates the venue for a small fee which definitely provided piece of mind the day of.
The owner of the venue, Colleen, is also a photographer and the photos she took of our wedding are jaw-dropping.
Did I mention they also have an Airbnb?

There venue really is a one stop shop which offers anything and everything you could possibly need (-minus food and drinks of course)

My Husband and I got married at the Historic Cedar School on September 23, 2017 and were very pleased with our experience working with the venue. From the very first day the venue staff was very responsive, kind and professional in answering any and all questions that we had and in offering input and suggestions. As we all know, planning an wedding is very stressful and time consuming. The contact person Jaclyn was such a great help in this process. In addition to great service, the grounds at the Historic Cedar School are Gorgeous and well maintained. If anyone is looking for a beautiful, quiet, outdoor venue with tons of vintage charm I'd highly recommend The Historic Cedar School. This is a newer venue and we had such and awesome experience that I could only imagine what kinds of great things lye in the future for this venue.
