Thank you French Gourmet!!!!!!!!

I was at a loss with a limited budget and no wedding planner and The French Gourmet team SAVED my wedding!!!!! Renee was absolutely fantastic, she heard all of my ideas and worked incredibly well with my budget. Renee was incredibly honest and helpful letting me know what was and wasn’t necessary, and that helped me so much. She understood my vision and ran with it, and the execution was perfection. The French Gourmet was my catering, bar, and wedding coordination service and they killed it. All the guests commented on the impeccable service. The bar was fantastic, all their drinks were on point and they created the best welcome cocktail ever!!!! Renee helped coordinate everything and was with me every step of the way, thank goodness! The day of, the talented Laura Reynolds was my wedding coordinator and I can’t say enough just how spectacular she was!!!! She took absolutely all the stress off of me and the wedding could not have gone more smoothly. THANK YOU for creating my most precious memory, and making it incredible!!!!

Good food, great service

The food was delicious, the staff was top notch for serving and clearing even though we had a buffet option, and the croquembouche we had as our "cake" was one of the best things I've eaten!

Most beautiful wedding cake

We thank the French gourmet bakery and Trang for the most beautiful and extremely tasty wedding cake they catered for us. Trang was very helpful, patient and kind and helped make our special day even more special! I initially went back and forth several times about selecting my cake but Trang was so patient with me and helped me make the perfect selection. Thank you to the entire team for the amazing job they did for our big day.

It was Perfect!

The French Gourmet was so easy to work with, and our cake came out beautiful! They also provided small desserts for our guests which were just delicious. Trang was absolute delight to work with, she was so patient with me as we had to switch our selections several times and she was most accommodating which is so nice to have throughout the planning process. You will not regret working with this vendor, they were just the best!

Beautiful and Tasty Wedding Cake!

The French Gourmet did a wonderful job with my wedding cake! I really liked how we could have each tier be a different flavor, and all of the flavors we chose were delicious. The hombre buttercream frosting was even prettier than I had imagined. Trang was responsive and easy to work with from the original tasting to the wedding day.

Culinary perfection

I could not rave more about my wedding food! My guests loved it. I did a duo plated with chicken and steak. Potato o gratin and asparagus. It was beautifully plated, came out piping hot and the meat was cooked perfectly. I did cherries jubilee as a surprise dessert In Addition to cake and my guests raves about it as well.

Absolutely Wonderful!

Simply put, The French Gourmet is the best! We worked with them for our wedding reception. From our initial inquiry to the day of our event they were kind, attentive, responsive, professional and wonderful to work with. They worked with us to create a menu that we loved and identify the type of service that best suited us. They did a formal walk through before the wedding to ensure all details were accounted for. The night of our wedding they were incredible. The entire staff was so professional, quick and kind to everyone at the event. They helped create a romantic and elegant environment through their food presentation and service. The food was absolutely delicious. Numerous guests made it a point to comment on how good the food was. They also worked very well with the many vendors that were part of our event. Weddings are so personal and special, The French Gourmet helped make our day memorable and wonderful! I would refer them to any person looking for delicious food and wonderful service, and give them my highest recommendation.

We went with something small and simple but Trang made it look beautiful and our cake still stood out. It was exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend!

Delicious wedding cake

My husband loves cheesecake so for our wedding I thought a cheesecake wedding cake would be perfect. I had one once before at a wedding and thought it was a nice change. When I started the search for a baker I was surprised with how many did not offer that, or didn't want to try. The French Gourmet was the only baker I found that said they could make me what I wanted and Trang did a fantastic job at helping me to get exactly that. We had a beautiful and delicious 3 tiered traditional cheesecake with vanilla cake and raspberry purée. Thank you Trang for your responses to my countless emails, arranging the samples, and customizing our wedding cake. I had multiple guests ask where we got the cake from and how it was the best cake they ever had :) Thank you bakers at French Gourmet!

Cake was a hit!

This bakery was a package deal with our vendor so we did not have a choice - however, we were so happy with it and our guests raved about it as well! Delicious!

A perfect cake!

Our cake was exactly what we asked for! Trang was so easy to work with and so knowledgable for any questions we had. Our cake was 3 layers, 2 flavors, and a huge hit! All our friends and family said how much they enjoyed it.

Perfect cake!

We got a pretty small cake since our venue covered the dessert and our cake was perfect! It was light, refreshing, and It looked amazing!

Excellence in food and service

The French Gourmet was recommended to us as a caterer for our son's rehearsal dinner event. Being from out of state, we knew no caterers and once I spoke to them on the phone, I looked no further. They quickly understood the feeling we wanted for that night and suggested a menu to go along with that. The food was delicious and the help were so professional and friendly. Michel and Renee were wonderful to work with. Look no further than the French Gourmet for a vendor. They were perfect!

An Easy Choice!

While planning our wedding, my husband and I explored several catering companies and were by far the most impressed with The French Gourmet. The French Gourmet's phenomenal reputation exists for a reason. Working with them was absolutely one of the best parts of my wedding. Throughout the planning process, they were professional, responsive, and flexible. They make it easy to customize every part of the menu to our tastes. On the day of the wedding we did not have a thing to worry about. Even though at the very last minute I still had not made a seating chart for my guests, they were flexible and experienced enough to adapt their plans and still serve guests at their tables. Michel and Renee were in control and made sure that all of our needs were met. Service was friendly and efficient. The grilled flat iron steak was delicious! My only regret is that I wish I could have had time to try some of the appetizers during the cocktail hour. The French Gourmet was one of the main reasons why my wedding went off without a hitch! I would recommend them without any hesitation!

French gourmet was an amazing choice for our wedding cake!

French gourmet was an amazing choice for our wedding. They not only made us an amazing delicious and elegant wedding cake, but they also hosted our rehearsal dinner. We received unending compliments from our quests on the quality of the food and service at French Gourmet. Michel and Jodi worked with us to make an amazing menu that was affordable and decadent. The wait staff was stellar as usual and did an amazing job servicing a large party of over 30 guests with alacrity and professionalism. I would highly recommend French Gourmet for any wedding cake or catering needs you may have, or just drop in for a delicious meal with amazing service!

Wonderful wedding cake

The French Gourmet made our wedding cake for our October 2018 wedding. It looked stunning, and tasted even better! Thanks Trang and the whole team at the French Gourmet.

After tasting all the different cake flavours, we opted for one layer of chocolate raspberry mousse cake and two layers of lemon cake. The chocolate raspberry mousse cake, in particular, was absolutely delicious.

The delivery driver decorated the buttercream-frosted cake with flowers set out by the florist. They did a great job and the end result was beautiful. The cake looked very natural in an outdoor environment, on a deck overlooking the ocean.

We couldn't have been happier with the cake. We only wish there had been more leftovers!! :)

We were incredibly blown away by The French Gourmet and their team. The food was incredible, and the staff was even better! We also had our wedding cake done by them, and I was blown away that they were able to replicate the photo I had shown them of my cake. Michel and his team at The French Gourmet are experts when it comes to catering and event planning. The Wedding coordinator Renee took everything I wanted and turned it into our dream wedding. We are so pleased with this company. I wish I could give 10 stars! They've been in business for years and it shows through the quality that they produce. Couldn't have been happier!

Choosing The French Gourmet as the caterer for our wedding was one of the best decisions we made. We have continued to receive compliments about the quality and display of the food and about the attentiveness of their service. Michel and his team created the experience we wanted for our guests.

I asked for a quote for 300 people online about 10 months before the wedding. Michel called me a few days later. He invited me, my fiance, and my parents in to try the food. All of the food was delicious. It made choosing for the wedding very difficult. Aside from the incredible food, Michel offers so much more for any kind of reception. We used his linens, china, and silverware. Healso provided the cake and all of the drinks. Michel knows weddings very well. He helped us plan the reception before and helped us execute our schedule the day of.

The French Gourmet went above and beyond. We have recommended them to all of our friends both to cater their weddings to to dine in the restaurant for a date. Michel in particular has become a good friend of our family. He is a man of character and professionalism. He wants your day to be what you want and how you want it.

Michel and his team at the French Gourmet did an incredible job at our backyard wedding in July. From the moment we met, Michel was willing to go above and beyond for us. We were planning long distance and it was a smaller residential wedding so needless to say we were asking a lot. Michel and his team were so responsive with emails and calls and even a home visit to see the lay of the land. The day of the wedding the team worked very hard to make sure everything was running smoothly. They had water and lemonade before the ceremony, provided a partial bar, set up and clean up all for a very reasonable price. In addition to great service, their menu is amazing. We knew that after our in-house tasting, but it was confirmed by a majority of wedding guests who said it was by far the best food they have ever had at a wedding. Finally, their bake staff was very accommodating as well. I ordered a small cake and 100 cupcakes, of those 25 were personally decorated at no extra charge! Their flavor options are amazing- we recommend the lemon cream! Instant favorite! 5 stars for a great team, overall. Happy Planning! A&S

I have used The French Gourmet for years to cater work holiday events, so knew when I got married there was no other choice. Their food is all amazing, and you never have to worry that there will not be enough. Their team is so easy to work with, taking care of every little detail. We received many compliments on the food - everything from the apps, dinner, cake, and cookies that we had as our table gifts. As a sweet touch, they pack you a basket of apps, dinner, and cake to eat later that night. I loved this as you do not have time to eat (nor did I have the room in my dress) and this let us enjoy everything later that night. I am looking forward to ordering a small cake for our 1 year anniversary. It was sooo good - cheesecake/pound cake combo with raspberry - never tasted anything like it and didn't even think of this combo using cheesecake! Highly recommend!

A recent review of The French Gourmet from our wedding… When my wife and I were engaged over a year ago we started meeting with vendors in preparation for our wedding day we read reviews of caterers and did several tastings as well in the San Diego, Ca area. We had eaten dinner previously to our tasting at The French Gourmet restaurant in La Jolla during one of my visits from Florida 2 years ago and loved the food and family style atmosphere. We decided to do a wedding tasting with them and ended up failing in love with the food and presentation. They ended up as #1 on our list of potential caterers for our wedding. We did several more tasting with other vendors after that and none could compare to the delectable tastings that The French Gourmet gave us. A few weeks ago we got married at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church in Poway and had our reception in their newly remodeled beautiful reception hall with The French Gourmet as our caterer. Michel Macelot, French Chef, founder and owner of The French Gourmet, and his team pulled it off and made our wedding reception a perfect event for our guests. We had so many of our guests tell us that The French Gourmet's food was the best food they have had at a wedding. We would recommend their catering to anyone planning an event or their special day.

I used The French Gourmet for my wedding cake, from the beginning they were amazing! I received an email back pretty quickly in response to my inquiry, and went in for a cake tasting while I was in town looking over some other wedding details. Their store is the cutest thing ever and all the food looked amazing! Trang was really easy to work with and really listened to what I wanted. All the cake samples were amazing but ultimately chose the Prinlinsko with Butter Cream frosting. They called a couple days before the wedding to confirm all the details with me again and the day of the wedding everything went perfectly. The cake came out looking exactly how I wanted, their delivery was flawless and the cake tasted amazing! Their buttercream frosting is the best frosting I have ever tasted and we received a lot of compliments on our cake. I can't wait to go back to San Diego to eat at their store and order cake!

After trying cakes at many different bakeries in San Diego, my husband and I selected The French Gourmet for our wedding cake on June 27, 2015. We worked with Trang at The French Gourmet and were very impressed with her professionalism, customer service and knowledge. We selected The French Gourmet because of their exotic, tasty flavors and they were able to create our requested design within our budget. Our reception was at the Admiral Kidd Catering and Conference Center on a U.S. Naval Base. Trang was able to work with us to get all the required documentation for security on the base while not every vendor was able to meet these requirements with ease. On the day of the wedding the cake looked absolutely beautiful and tasted delicious. We had a four tiered cake with lemon, passion fruit and chocolate mousse flavors. All the guests thought the cake was delicious too and we received many compliments on it. Trang was able to honor her commitment to create a one year anniversary cake with white chocolate shavings in our flavor of choice for us. Just this past month as we celebrated our one year anniversary we enjoyed another 4" size passion fruit cake and it was just as delicious as the first time on our wedding day. We do not live in San Diego and so we really appreciated this special opportunity as we were not able to save and freeze the top tier for our anniversary. I highly recommend The French Gourmet for anyone looking for a wedding cake in San Diego.

Michel and Renee were incredibly helpful, personable and attentive to detail. The food was incredible and they made everything easy and streamlined by providing all the chairs for our ceremony, linens and China! Everyone loved the dessert bar and crepe station!

We loved our croquembouche ordered from the French Gourmet! Everyone commented on how unique and delicious it was, and Trang and the team with the French Gourmet were very responsive with scheduling the delivery, plus accommodating with the deposit when I was late to return the cake stand.

Trang at The French Gourmet is the best! She was so kind and patient while we selected our cake choices! We ended up getting a round 4 tier and 4 different flavors because we were so indecisive. The carrot cake was to die for! Our guests commented on how amazing the cake was and wanted more! I also added in a grooms cake with the San Diego Chargers logo that was a hit! We met with the wedding coordinator for a cake tasting. She was flexible in our choices and made suggestions based on our taste buds. We found the perfect wedding day cake and were able to combine two of our favorite flavors. We still have our cake top and cannot wait to eat the rest of it. Cake was delicious!

Trang at the French Gourmet was wonderful throughout the entire process of ordering a wedding cake from the tasting to the delivery of the cake! Michel, Renee, & the rest of the French Gourmet were fantastic. They allowed my wife and I to have multiple tastings as we were on opposite sides of the country planning the wedding. The service they provided day of was phenomenal and very professional. Everyone couldn't stop complementing how delicious the food was, absolutely fantastic food. They took care of all the setup and take down and everything in between. I would recommend French Gourmet to anyone and everyone!

The French Gourmet is actually the only place I went to do a cake tasting. I knew after the tasting that I wanted them to make my cake.

We ended up with a 3-tier cake with 3 different flavors (one flavor for each tier). Our flavors of choice:
-Lemon cream: lemony deliciousness. This was my favorite one.
-Strawberry bagatelle:Light, sweet, delicious!
-Pralinsko: Chocolate hazelnut. This was my favorite chocolate of all the ones I tried.

The cake was consistenly light, not too sweet, and not too dry. As far as the design, I brought a picture of how I wanted the icing to be textured. We did not go with fondant and ended up with a ruffle texture on the cake that was exactly as I imagined it. Simple, pretty, and delicious!

It was easy to get a hold of the contact, and I had absolutely no problems at any point. Would definitely recommend The French Gourmet!

From the very beginning of the wedding planning process The French Gourmet was great. I went with a group of 5 people for the food tasting, they offered generous portions for us to sample their food. The people were all genuinely friendly...not fake. I had my wedding at the new Downtown Library, we were the first to have a wedding there and clearly the Library wasn't quite prepared with all that they had to do. Renee, the coordinator with French Gourmet had her staff take care of many of the activities that the Library was supposed to take care of but all of the activities were invisible to me and our guests.. We had 170 guests. The food was delicious, hot and the service was extraordinary.

I hired the French Gourmet for my wedding cake. The cake was absolutely DELICIOUS!! We ordered the strawberry bagatelle with buttercream frosting. Everyone LOVED the cake and so many people kept asking us where we got it.

Additionally, working with Trang, the wedding cake coordinator, was an absolute pleasure! I had a couple concerns including budgeting and having the cake pre-cut.. she ALWAYS accommodating to my needs and helped find solutions!

I have already and will continue to recommend The French Gourmet for their wedding cakes! I guarantee you will not be disappointed!!

My wife and I hired the French Gourmet to cater our recent wedding reception, and I must say they are truly professionals. No other vendor was able to come close to creating a menu that my wife and I were happy with. Even vendors who specifically advertised the ability to create a custom menu would not even consider doing something they had not done before. The FG did not even blink an eye at our requests, in fact, they immediately understood our intention, and helped us to make our plan even better. Their pricing is more than competitive. The onsite team was extremely experienced and took care of the smallest details which made the event special for our guests. They simply took care of everything. I have no need to ever consider another catering vendor for future events. Edith Clement was our coordinator, but I also got the chance to work with Michel, the president of the company, so I am confident that any coordinator will do a great job.

My husband and I walked out of our tasting with Edith at The French Gourmet completely in awe (and very full). We ordered our catering for 106 people and our wedding cake from The French Gourmet. Edith was accessible, quick to respond, and very professional throughout our meetings and our event. During our wedding, the food was fantastic - people said it was the best they've had at a wedding! The service and waitstaff were professional and incredibly nice.

I am very pleased with our choice in caterer and would highly recommend The French Gourmet to anyone in need of catering.

I honestly can not say enough good things about the French Gourmet. Not only was Edith (my contact) honest, sincere and attentive to my requests but I felt a sense of personal pride in the work she does and the relationships she creates. They may not be the cheapest route but you most certainly get what you pay for. We were on a tight budget and after our tasting I felt confident this was a vendor to invest in. They literally blew away the competition. I never felt forced or pushed upon. She simply provided options and her input from experience and then let me make the decisions. I changed my mind time and time again and she was always relaxed and accommodating. The day of service was impeccable. I received numerous compliments on the menu and the display and linens were lovely. They take pride in their work and it shows. I will recommend the French Gourmet to everyone. They have earned a very loyal customer.

French Gourmet catered our Wedding at Scripps Seaside Forum on 6/29/2013 for 125 people. The food and catering service was awesome. Edith was the catering manager and Laura was our event coordinator. We could not have asked for a better pair. Edith and her staff were very professional and provided excellent service. Renee Hirsch recommended Laura and at first we were uncertain of her abilities and would have loved to have Renee but unfortunately she was unavailable. Laura ended up to be very organized, had lots of great recommendations and worked very hard and stayed for about 12 hours. We had great appetizers which was beautifully displayed (Fruit, Cheese and Vegetable trays with the most delicious Artichoke and Eggplant dip, breads and pita). We had the buffet set up with 4 stations: 1 action slider station with fries, 1 macaroni and cheese station with lobster, carmelized onions and real bacon toppings in a martini glass set up outside and 1 short ribs/mash potatoes and 1 Macademia Nut crusted Mahi/grilled vegatables inside. It was beautiful and most gave compliments on the hot fries and sliders, short ribs and the lobster topping. French Gourmet also provided the wedding cake and it was superb. We had Millenium and Hazelnut Praline for flavors. We had sooooo many compliments on the food and cake. I would definitely recommend French Gourmet for your wedding or event. Edith and Laura and Renee ROCK! Thank you for a job well done.!!!!

The French Gourmet offers the most delicious and well-priced cakes in San Diego. I had tasted almost a dozen other vendors before finally finding them. It was tough finding a cake because my husband does not like cake, let alone dessert, so I was thrilled when he actually liked the cake samples. The combination of flavors were different and were absolutely homemade and free of any artificial fillers/flavors. We decided on two flavors for the cake (no additional cost) and whipped cream finish (very light and didn't overpower the cake). Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the cake!

The French Gourmet did a fantastic job with the catering for our wedding - everyone loved the food! While I didn't get to eat much of it during the actual wedding, both of the tastings we had with Orsika (our main contact person) were delicious so I knew the food would be great. I also have to comment on how incredibly friendly all of her staff were - they were so polite and eager to help, it was so nice to not have to worry about any issues there. They also did a *tremendous* job with the event set-up - we had an extremely fast turn-around time in our venue where they had to complete the table set up during our cocktail (one) hour held in another location - but it was done efficiently, and the tables looked truly beautiful when guests walked in for the reception. All in all, it was a great experience working with The French Gourmet, and I would recommend them for any type of catering event!

Best wedding cake in San Diego!! We went to a bunch of cake tasting and French Gourmet was definitely the best. The chocolate raspberries had real raspberries and the Tiramisu is to die for. Everyone there was so nice and when I saw the cake set up on my wedding day it was beautiful.

The French Gourmet does beautiful work and personally takes care of the party. They provide everything for a great time and are the most reasonably priced caterer that I considered. Renee was our event manager and she met with us twice before the wedding and answered many questions and emails. She put me at ease throughout the planning and the day of the event. The buffet, bar and cake were marvelous. I highly recommend them.

After having such a positive experience with Jenny and the French Gourmet wedding cake department, we can't thank them enough for everything.

Leading up to the wedding, Jenny was very very resourceful in helping us with ribbon selection. I called her while at their recommended supply store and she provided us with guidance to get the perfect ribbon for our cake!

The day of the wedding/reception, the cake arrived punctually and beautifully done. Everyone raved about the flavors and it was not the least bit dry. We'd read horror stories about other wedding cake vendors about dry cakes, but this was not the case with French Gourmet whatsoever.

We are so happy with them as our cake provider and will vouch for them any day! Thanks guys!

The French Gourmet did a wonderful job catering our wedding. While slightly above what we budgeted, the food, cake, and service were worth the price. We utilized a buffet style dinner, and all of our guest raved about the quality of the food and service. We also had them do our wedding cake as well as they give you a discount when doing as part of a full catering package. The cake was phenomenal. Orsika Barabas excel great resource in planning our event, and most impportantly, she was onsite during our wedding day to ensure things went smoothly.

Our wedding cake from the French Gourmet was delicious!!!!!!!!!!!! The cake tasting was a great experience... we were able to taste all different kinds of flavors, so yummy! I love how our cake turned out- the design was beautiful and the cake was moist and decadent. They showed up to our venue early to set-up the cake and provided great service from the beginning. My husband and I didn't want a traditional wedding cake. We really wanted a croquembouche. All of our research sent us to The French Gourmet. We hit the jackpot here. The cream puffs were amazing and the price was great. Since then ive order many for different family functions and friends bdays. They always work with me on the designs and colors and it always tastes great.

After tasting a few caterers' menus for our wedding, my husband and I decided to go with The French Gourmet and are thoroughly satisfied with our decision! Renee Hirsh worked with us closely and put a lot of care into what was important for our special day. We were lucky enough to have her as our Day Of Coordinator, which she went above and beyond her duties! She caught every single detail and reviewed everything with us to the letter. Our guests loved the food, presentation and service, and we received several compliments of our family style dinner which was elegant but yet had a sense of "home". I used this company and worked with Renee for my rehearsal dinner of about 40 guests. she was awesome!! She went above and beyond her job description. She came early and stayed late for the whole thing... even helped set up before the rehearsal dinner... and brought items to make it all look nicer. She worked with my budget and was very aware of where we stood and respectful of it as well.

My guests loved the food. They commented on how good it was, how nicely it was presented, and how nice the 2 servers were.

I would recommend this company. I do not know how they would do with a large wedding but, I am sure they could handle it well. I know they do weddings all the time. They were very professional and I didnt have to worry about a thing. She was also very flexible with the help that we needed... she allowed me to adjust what I needed her to do up to a few days before the wedding.

I changed my mind about my cake design a couple of times and Jenny and the French Gourmet was kind and patient and totally understanding. The cake tasted delicious!! The cake was amazing! It looked perfect, and after much cake tasting, they clearly have the best flavors in San Diego. they were very responsive, called several times to check on the details, and were very helpful and accommodating even when our custom cake topper cased some extra work and a change in design.

We loved the French Gourmet. We had a destination wedding in San Diego, Ca and ordered our cupcakes and small cake from this bakery. They were so helpful and the cakes/desserts were delicious. The French Gourmet catered our wedding reception on 10/17 (yesterday) at the Scripps Forum in La Jolla. I had to jump online immediately to give them the 5 stars they deserve (I wish I could give more)! The food was amazing - every guest let us know that. I can't wait to eat the leftovers today. The cake was the best tasting cake I've ever had - we had multiple flavors, and I tried them all. The service was seamless and very professional. They were pretty much our wedding day of coordinator as well (since we couldn't be there to set up), and they worked really well with all of our vendors.

Most importantly, Charlie from the French Gourmet spent a lot of time getting to know us and made sure our decor and setup was perfect. When it rained the morning of our (outdoor) wedding, Charlie rearranged everything so that it was setup inside with a beautiful view of the ocean (and we never once were worried about how it would look). The setup turned out even better than our original plan!!!

To sum up, French Gourmet's catering rocks (especially Charlie)!

The catering was awesome! Our venue presented some challenges but The French Gourmet made everything run seamlessly. They provided an outddor kitchen, equipment rentals, servers, bar, passed appetizers, dinner and cake for a very reasonable price, and all were of a high quality. Our whole experience with The French Gourmet since day one has been exceptional! They exude professionalism and such kindness. Our Wedding was perfect! We decided to use French Gourmet after tastings at a couple of other local caterers. French Gourmet, by far, had the best food for cost. Edith was amazing. She was also very quick to respond to my emails and questions. She was able to meet at the venue and whenever we needed to meet at the restaurant to go over details. The cake was amazing. There were only two pieces left at the end of the reception! Everybody thought it was delish!! If you are looking for great wedding food and service, I would recommend talking to Edith about a tasting!!

The French Gourmet was contracted with our venue, but we would definitely recommend them to anyone for any occassion. They were flexible with what we wanted, had a great selection of cakes and decorating styles. The cake was gorgeous and delicious.

If I could give them more stars I would! Two weeks prior to the wedding my original vendor went out of business and didn't even refer me to anyone else. That same day I made a panic call to The French Gourmet. They made arrangement for me to come in for a tasting right-away and they were very accommodating. On the day of the wedding, the cake arrived as scheduled and it was perfect! My guests thought it was fake until we cut into it. It was also the best cake I've ever tasted! We received several complements on the cake and guests kept coming back for seconds and thirds until there was nothing left!

Jenny and the staff and the French Gourmet were extremely nice and made my cake exactly to my specifications. My cake was very simple but still beautifull. The price I paid was well worth it. My guests all raved about how delicious the cake was. Great Job guys!! My husband and I also frequently visit the bakery. They have the best selection of pasteries.

We absolutely love The French Gourmet Bakery! The cake tasting went smoothly and it was straight to the point. The delivery was on schedule and the cake tasted great! Everyone loved our choice of the Strawberry Bavarian.

The French Gourmet was an exceptional caterer. My guest love the food and went back for seconds (if they could). I would recommend this place and I plan to visit the restaurant when I can. My wedding cake was also included in my contract at a set price and they gave no restrictions on what I could have done and what type of cake I could have.

This is a great place to go for a wedding cake.They made us a delicious three-tiered cheesecake.It was very beautifully designed and they decorated it very nicely.It was a little but pricey but after everyone enjoyed it i have no complaints.We also ordered a bunch of delicious fruit pastries that went well with everyone.Highly recommend The French Gourmet for any wedding.

Did an outstanding job on two cakes for us, which were out of this world!!! In flavor, visuality, taste, and cost they are 10 on 10 scale. They care about the cakes presentation to each delectable bite. I would use them again and again. Not to mention, that I froze our wedding cake tier and a year later, it tasted just as amazing!!! A true gem.

Our cake was delicious and beautiful. We changed the flavor several times and that was no problem. The price per slice was far superior to anything we tasted anywhere. We were extremely pleased and we will continue to go back there to taste our wedding cake over and over, as they sell all the flavors at the bakery by the slice on a regular basis. Check out the pralinsko and millennium flavors!

If you want a fabulous tasting cake, this is the place to go! Sure, it's nice if your cake looks pretty, but if it's dry and the flavors are over complicated, no one will eat it and whats the point of it being cake? I ordered a basic cake (the strawberry bagatelle) that was absolutely scrumptious - there was no cake left!

The cake looked beautiful and was delightful to the tastebuds! We chose buttercream frosting with simple beadpiping, swiss dots and fresh roses cascading down the front. It photgraphed beautifully! Our guests raved about how much they liked the cake. I had a last minute change to my order and because I made it before they began preparation for it, they were able to accomodate my change. That is great service!

The cake was BEAUTIFUL and DELICIOUS. No snags with vendor, and they also catered breakfast for the brunch the next day. Highly recommended. Great price for quality cake.

Wow!!! That is practically what every single guest said after my wedding. The service was impeccable, the staff was the nicest, and very professional. The bartender did the most amazing accents to all of our specialty drinks - curling all the rinds in the old fashioned just right and simply making the perfect drink of whatever was ordered. As the Bride and Groom we never had an empty glass or plate and the moment our Wedding Ceremony had ended the staff made sure all of the Wedding Party had food to enjoy during pictures along with drinks. The buffet was amazing as we were able to offer our guests three entree meat choices and every single one of them was juicy and delicious. Each time a guest would get up a server would fold their napkin (yes, that is right!) My guests all remarked on how classy the evening felt and that we had really thought about our guests. But the craziest part is that I had contacted 7 catering companies to ensure I could get the most for my budget and French Gourmet was one of the more economically friendly catering choices in San Diego. I was so appalled by what the other catering companies were listing as there prices that when my husband and I planned our first tasting with French Gourmet we ended up signing up with them that day because we just couldn't believe that any catering company could be any better. Throughout the entire wedding planning, French Gourmet excelled in customer service and I couldn't be any happier about how our Wedding turned out.

In general, I don't classify myself as a cake lover but these cakes are so. good. We did cupcakes for our wedding which enabled us to have several flavors. Great service, professional and high quality.

It was a pleasure to work with French Gourmet. From the time we went for our first tasting, until the wedding day, we were highly satisfied with their food and service. This is some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted and it as by far the best price we could have gotten. Michel and Renee are wonderful people to work with. The cake was delicious as well. I would not have wanted food from anywhere else on this day. They kept the guests happy with their service and quality and even gave my family tons of leftover food and cake and gave us a going away basket as well. Awesome catering.

I have heard so much about cakes from The French Gormet that I just had to do a tasting for my wedding cake. I was not disappointed. They had many cake and filling options and lots of different cake designs. We chose a very simple but elegant design with smooth fondant icing. It was absolutely beautiful and tasted great!

The French Gourmet was a joy to work with on my wedding cake. I found that they were worth every penny I paid, and I would recommend them to any bride who wants a cake that all of her guests will comment on.
Every flavor of cake that the French Gourmet makes is amazing. It was so difficult to choose just three!
Beyond the flavors, though, their cakes are gorgeous. You'll be proud to display a cake from the French Gourmet at your wedding.
I had some special requests including a delivery from Pacific Beach to Julian, a cake topper that was just a bit too heavy, and on-site decorating with flowers. Not to worry! The French Gourmet handled everything with ease. I worked with Diane at my consultation and with Jenny throughout the planning process. Both ladies are sweet and kind, and will make you feel relaxed about this aspect of your huge planning process!
Between the flavors, the appearance, and the staff, The French Gourmet is the best available bakery in San Diego. Don't miss out!

We appreciated the flexibility of The French Gourmet when we requested two flavors of cupcakes...by the way I highly recommend the passion fruit flavor. The only issue was the cupcakes were a little dry I think because they were sitting out in the reception hall for 3 hours before we did cake cutting. But really they were beautiful and tasty and I was very happy with them!

Orsika was such a great help in planning our reception. Working with her was a breeze. I had a specific, very non traditional look in mind for my 18 person wedding and she was able to help make it happen within our budget. Menu planning with her was wonderful too. She suggested dishes based on what we were looking for and pairings to round out the menu. The food was superb, the table service was wonderful and our special night was absolutely perfect!

The cake was wonderful and it held up well all night. They were very perfesional and the pricing is average for a cake place. We had a hard time picking a flavor because they give you around 14 flavors to pick from and they are all soooooo good! Their food there is good as well we had lunch when we when to pay for the cake.
