Let me start off by saying that I didn't think I "needed" a DJ for my wedding, so I didn't budget for one initially. It was about halfway through wedding planning that my now-husband and I decided we should invest in one, so it would be one less thing for us to have to do on our wedding day. Budget was super important to us when booking a DJ, but we also wanted someone who was experienced and knew what they were doing. The DJ Company of Virginia did not disappoint!
Nikki and Devail helped me during the booking and planning process, and helped pick the right DJ to use for our venue. When planning, we were able to suggest a bunch of songs that both of us love and also got to make a list of any songs we didn't want to hear. Our guests were able to suggest songs on their own, and I gave those to the DJ beforehand (it was a question on our RSVP form). If you wanted your guests to suggest songs during the reception, I know they would be able to do that too!
Jose was the DJ for our wedding and he was super friendly and easy to talk to! My husband and I did a "fake out" for our first dance, where we made it seem like we would do the standard slow dance, but then actually use a fun, upbeat song. Jose made sure he understood what we wanted and our guests LOVED it! Jose played so many songs that I like and love that I found myself on the dancefloor a bunch. I sure got in a workout!
If you need a DJ in the Hampton Roads area, you should book the DJ Co. of VA. I wasn't sure we could afford a DJ for our wedding, but their prices were perfect for our needs!

They were great to work with, communicated effectively, and the services rendered were absolutely amazing and everything my daughter dreamt of for her Sweet 16. Thank you so much! We used the DJ Company of Virginia for our wedding day - and we highly recommend them! Devail & Nikki were great with communication all throughout the planning process and recommending songs for recessional, announcement of bridal party, etc that fit our vibe. There was an online portal easy to use to put all of your music requests in. Jose was our DJ and he was fantastic! Amazing 10/10!
He catered to our every need and made us feel so comfortable! Everything was seamless and perfect for our day. My family offered to pay him extra to stay and he did! Jose was our DJ, and he did an outstanding job. He knew the vibe of the night and delivered awesome music and announcements for our wedding!! The planning beforehand was super easy to use and once finished they called me twice to verify everything would run smoothly. Don't use a more expensive company! Devail provided high quality with the perfect price point! He was prepared and professional, and did a great job for us. He provided sound for the ceremony (mic for the Officiant) and the DJ at our reception. He did everything the way we asked and followed our timeline perfectly. He provided a website forum for us to list our timeline and all of the songs we wanted to be played and we had two planning calls and sent several emails to stay in touch. Reached out weeks in advance and was able to quickly secure them for a formal Navy event - quite similar to a wedding reception. I was as satisfied with their work and responsiveness as a I was with the DJ I used for my wedding this previous year ... who was much more expensive. Looking back I would have used their services. We hired The DJ Company of VA for our wedding and they were really great to work with. I especially loved the portal they use to collect all of our info. You can easily select songs and assign them to specific moments. Add notes and a timeline. I set up all this up and then during the wedding - everything went great! Every song I wanted played, the special moments were perfect. And the DJ kept the flow going so well. Everyone had a great time! Definitely recommendThe DJ Company of Virginia's reply:
