    Our dream venue!

We were so happy to find the Cloisters and immediately booked our wedding as soon as we were able to attend an open house and see the venue in person. Photos do not do it justice. It is so beautiful and unique, especially in this area. The perfect venue for any couple that loves anything historical, fantastical, or fairytale (which is us!). Staff were beyond friendly and easy to work with. There are so many beautiful spots to take great photos and a lovely area upstairs to get ready in (and take quick breaks when you need a breather). All our guests loved it and had a wonderful time, and so did we. Perfect for a medium-sized wedding especially.

The Fantasy Wedding Venue of Our Dreams

A truly excellent venue for a wedding — especially if you're aiming for something more fantasy/renaissance-themed. Every room and the grounds outdoor all are beautiful and make getting photos or decorating a snap given the amount of natural decor already present!

Out of the three options for the ceremony to be held (two outdoor, one indoor in case of rain) we chose the amphitheater which worked perfectly for our small/mid-sized wedding. There was plenty of space for photos, including a very photogenic spiral staircase and spacious courtyard with a covered walkway. The ample rooms on the second floor allowed us plenty of space for getting ready as well. Parking also worked out well and was accommodating for all of our guests.

The staff were excellent — both when it came to planning the wedding and setting up our reservation for the big day and those who worked the wedding day. Payment was easy enough and hassle-free.

Overall, if you're interested in a fantasy setting or just want to get married in a castle without having to travel to Europe, we'd highly recommend!

    ✨ A magical day we’ll never forget

I stumbled on Cloisters Castle completely by accident — as I’m based in Brooklyn, I was looking up venues closer to NYC. But when I saw the website for Cloisters, my partner and I knew it was meant to be — my partner’s family is from Baltimore! We decided to visit the venue and on our first tour, we worked with Makayla and Annie, who walked us through the process and potential wedding dates. We decided on April, as the Cloisters doesn’t have air conditioning and we were having a medieval D&D fantasy themed ceremony (and armor gets a bit hot!). Makayla was truly such a kind and organized professional, always responsive and helped myself and my partner throughout the planning process. I really appreciated the whole Cloisters team and their help in making our wedding day extra special for our 93 guests. Makayla had a great packet for us with vendor recommendations, insurance details and a floor plan map. We chose Ashling catering from their list, and their team knew the castle well, so were able to jump right in. We were also able to get access to the venue a day in advance for about an hour to run through our rehearsal. The castle itself has so much charm and decor — we really focused more on the dining and experience, and let the rest of the venue shine. Guests loved exploring the castle and were wowed by the stunning garden with gorgeous flowers. It was absolutely the best venue for us and our wedding day!

    Gorgeous!!!

Talk about a dream venue Cloisters is absolutely stunning all year round and in all weather conditions! All night I heard about how it was the perfect venue and no one could believe such a gorgeous place existed around here and how perfect it was for our themed wedding (plenty mentioned how beautiful it is regardless of theme though). The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly such a dream to work with these lovely people! Eternally grateful such a beautiful place with such great staff exists and that I was able to get married here!

    The most magical venue!

It is impossible to step foot on this property and not immediately fall in love. My husband and I had wanted a European destination wedding but hated the thought that our family and friends wouldn’t all be able to come. The Cloisters gave us the best of both worlds in the form of a magical, authentic English castle, nestled in a perfect location central to all our guests and us. This gorgeous castle will enchant you the moment you pull up the winding wooded drive and see the gothic spires, stained glass windows, and blooming gardens. There are stunning spaces throughout the castle for ceremonies, dining, dancing, games, and pretty much anything you could ever wish for. One of my favorite features was the turreted walkway for the bride to walk across and ring a huge antique bell before coming down the aisle! Also, you could not possibly have a more atmospheric backdrop for all of your wedding photos. Our guests all commented on how they had never seen a more unique, elegant, and magical wedding venue and how much fun they had exploring the nooks and crannies of the castle all night. If you are looking to lose yourself in a fairytale on your wedding day, you’ve found your venue!

    Perfect wedding, perfect venue!!

We selected the Cloisters as the perfect backdrop for our Lord of the Rings themed wedding. The venue was perfect, the weather was perfect and they were very understanding as we waited to see what the weather would be like to decide if the wedding was indoors or outdoors.

    Just book them!

If you're reading this review, then you're considering Cloisters Castle. Stop considering and just book the venue. The venue itself is so magical, just really breathtaking. It even rained during our ceremony and it was still such an amazing place that it didn't even matter. And the staff are great--they were always super-helpful about answering questions, no matter how small or strange. And they were very willing to work with us to make sure our day was perfect, from getting the rehearsal time just right, to getting us in a few hours early on the day. It's so worth it.

Loved the castle vibes and the staff :)

We are so happy that we were able to have our wedding at The Cloisters! We visited in the fall and were enchanted by the historic building, the castle/medieval feel, and the variety of spaces available to use (the outdoor garden/courtyard, the amphitheater, and the entire house inside). Walking through the building feels like going back in time or in a fairy tale. It is so nice that when you rent the space you have the entire house to work with. The staff at the Cloisters (Annie, Sarah, Victoria) were also incredibly nice, responsive, and accommodating in planning a wedding in pandemic times. Victoria really went above and beyond during our rehearsal (actually helping run the rehearsal and making sure we all knew where to stand and when to enter, which was incredibly helpful). Victoria also helped with hanging decorations and making a few last light centerpieces - I wouldn't have expected that at all and was really touched by her help. When we had some last minute rain she also was patient bearing with our indecisiveness about whether to move the ceremony inside or not and helping to get chairs upstairs at the last minute. Would highly recommend working with both the staff at the Cloisters and the beautiful venue. Thank you for such a beautiful and memorable wedding!

    Amazing!!!

Sarah and her team were so wonderful to work with! They kept me sane during the covid nightmare about whether or not we could have our wedding. They worked tirelessly to make sure we made the best option for us and had no shortage of options for what we could do. I dont think our wedding would have happened with out their help!

The venue itself is so amazing and unique! You wont find anything else like it! One thing that spoke volumes to me was that when we were touring, there was a couple who got married there 20 years ago and they were still able to drop in to relive their memories!

I cannot say enough about this venue!

    Incredibly Unique Venue

It's hard to put into words how truly incredible this venue is. From the overall first impressions of driving up through an enchanted forest that opens into an incredible view of the castle, to the tiny, intricate, medieval style details, this place has it all. The staff here is amazing, super responsive, willing to answer any and all questions, and are extremely helpful with day of coordination.
The venue itself is breathtaking. We decided to have ours outside in the cloisters behind the castle, despite it being on November 2nd. The staff does an amazing job taking care of the grounds so there were still flowers and green on the trees, which made it look even more magical. There are tons of rooms for people to explore and there's 3 levels so guests will never be bored during cocktail hour. There's also two suites for the wedding parties to get ready in.
We had a little over 120 people which fit perfectly outside and inside (if you're okay with splitting the guests up between two rooms, which wasn't an issue at all).
Everyone who attended kept commenting on how cool the venue was and how they had no idea something like this was close to the area. Overall incredible venue, staff, and location, and very reasonably priced. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a truly unique venue.

    Maryland's Hidden Gem

I don’t know if this venue actually needs my positive review because the photos speak for themselves. The castle is amazingly beautiful. It was the perfect setting for our perfect day. We had a themed wedding that the Cloisters Castle served as the perfect backdrop for. Other than the gorgeous look of the venue though the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating to our needs. We couldn’t recommend having your wedding at this hidden gem in the heart of Maryland more.

    Amazing Enchanting Place

If you want a fairly tale wedding this is it. It has a charm about it that is very unique. Annie and Sarah and the best and you can literally ask them anything. They had nothing but good reviews even compared to other castles in the area. Plus I think they feel a little more like a real castle. I can't wait to share my day with them, after all if it is good enough for Will and Jada Smith, it's good enough for me! One last thing the price for this venue is pretty reasonable, of course Saturday is the highest and there peak season too but no more than what you would expect.

    Breathtaking!

Cloisters was the perfect setting for our fairytale wedding. If you have been dreaming of your perfect, princess wedding..look no further! We found Cloisters by chance just browsing the internet and I am so grateful we did. I can't imagine having gotten married anywhere but here.

If you are having a very large wedding you may want to look elsewhere. Our guest count came to around 100 and you cannot fit much more than that inside for dinner if you want everyone in one room. We got married December 2018 so we had both our ceremony and reception inside and it was absolutely beautiful. A wonderfully intimate setting.

Annie and Sarah are amazing. Sarah was attentive, responsive, and so so kind with each and every email or phone call I sent. The day of, the staff was amazing. I could not have worked with better people.

Your guests will rave about this venue! Ours are still talking about it weeks later... most of them even used the pictures they took that night for their Christmas cards this year.

Cloisters could not be a more perfect place!!! Unforgettable!

After searching a few other places we came back to the one we first had our eye on, Cloisters Castle!! We had our heart set on a sort of renaissance/gothic/romantic wedding in a castle and didn't think we would actually come up with anything in the area but when we found Cloisters we fell in love! It was exactly perfect for us. On our wedding day it was calling for pouring rain, and with a stroke of luck it was the beautiful sunny autumn day in the woods that we had imagined it would be. The rain held off until way later that evening and so everything went exactly as planned and we had our ceremony in the lovely courtyard. The Cloisters staff was wonderful to work with and the property was even filled with beautiful fresh fall flowers and pumpkins. We live about an hour away in Virginia, but having our wedding here was worth the trip up to Baltimore because of just how amazing this venue is. The decor, the fireplaces, the cozy and warm glow of the candles inside, all of it made for the most romantic wedding. Our guests were impressed with just how unique the venue was. The fall foliage around the castle was at peak and driving up that little path to the castle on the day of almost made me cry. It was simply a dream come true. Thank you to everyone at Cloisters Castle for making our day wonderful! High recommend! Photo credit: Kate Ann Photography

Magical, Spectacular, Enchanting! This venue is AMAZING.The guests went crazy taking photos and touring the building to check out all of its great features. The ability to have the wedding either indoors or outdoors is a great relief in case of bad weather, both the interior and the exterior of the castle are gorgeous with many unique photo ops and you will not have to decorate much, the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating, the second level has the perfect rooms for getting ready before the ceremony, the castle is so romantic in the evening your guests will rave about how beautiful, fun, and memorable this venue is! Annie and Sara are incredibly responsive, flexible, professional, and helpful in answering any questions. Highly recommend!

The cloisters castle is an absolutely magical place to get married. I could've not chosen a better place. The entrance leading to the gorgeous castle is filled with woods. It has the grandeur of medieval Europe; everything I wanted in a venue. Unique, enchanting, breathtaking. Our guests were obsessed with our venue and I am super pleased we had our wedding there.

I don't even know where to begin! From beginning to end, the entire experience with the Cloisters staff (especially Annie) was out of this world. They are incredibly responsive, flexible, professional and helpful in answering any questions. And I can't go without mentioning the BEAUTIFUL venue itself - there are so many intricate, unique elements in the castle that made the setting unforgettable to me and my wedding guests. I still have guests of my wedding telling me how much they loved my venue!

And right when I thought I was beyond ecstatic with my wedding experience, I was blown away again. After we received our wedding photos, we were really bummed when we realized that we didn't get a chance to capture photos in many of the rooms/areas of the castle - (the chapel, the library, etc.). The wedding day was such an exciting whirlwind that we kind of blew through our photos, not to mention we were on a time crunch. So, a few months after the wedding we reached out to Annie asking if we could possibly come back to the castle to re-take some photos. She said yes - free of charge - so we scheduled a date and time, but due to snow we had to reschedule several times. However, Annie was incredibly flexible and accommodating through the entire process. We finally set a date, pretty much had the castle to ourselves AND several hours to re-shoot our photos, and were treated with the same hospitality as we were on our wedding day itself. Not once were we rushed. And, the photos that we captured are absolutely gorgeous. (If you're concerned with decorations for your wedding, you won't need to do much, because the entire castle-inside and out-is so beautiful and decorative that any room serves as an amazing backdrop!). I feel that not many venues (especially one as busy and in demand as the Cloisters) would allow for a second chance like that.

If you are on the fence about booking the Cloisters - DO IT-you will NOT regret it! It was a perfect, amazing experience! :)

My husband and I were married here on October 2nd, 2015-- it was an absolute dream location for our Medieval-esque. There were numerous reasons why it was perfect-- they have an approved caterer list (this made it so much easier on us to only have to research a few caterers compared to the hundreds in the area), the ability to have the wedding either indoors or outdoors is a great relief in case of bad weather (which happened to us-- it rained non-stop all day because of a hurricane!!), both the interior and the exterior of the castle are gorgeous (think of the many unique photo ops and the fact that you will not have to decorate much!), the staff are extremely friendly and accommodating (they allowed us to stop by the castle numerous times to take measurements for our decorator and to have a walk-through with the caterer), they have an open house once a month with vendors (this is fun to go to), you get the *entire* castle during the day of your wedding (your guests can roam about and explore its many levels and rooms!), the second level has the perfect rooms for getting ready before the ceremony, the castle is so romantic in the evening (especially when candle-lit!), and your guests (and you!) will rave about how beautiful, fun, and memorable this venue is. The only downside is that it cannot accommodate many guests in each room. We could only fit about 70 people in the gallery for the seated reception (if our guest list were larger, we would have had to have placed people in the adjoining living room, where they would have been unable to see us during dinner). However, this castle was perfect for our wedding, and we could not have wished for a better venue. This is truly a hidden gem in Maryland!

We had our wedding here and it was an absolute dream come true -- this is definitely one of the most unique venues in Maryland. Below are some pros and cons to consider (the pros far outweigh the cons):
    Pros
    - Gorgeous, private setting – there is honestly too much to say here. Definitely go to an open house or schedule an appointment to visit so you can see for yourself.
    - If you planned on an outdoor ceremony but rain strikes (you never know!), you will be pleased with the backup indoor location (the main dining room has a magnificent chapel that can serve as the background for your ceremony).
    - Ability to select your own caterer (from an approved list) including ones that allow you to purchase your own liquor (we saved tons of money with this option, more than making up for the relatively higher
    - Can rent a whole extra hour of event time for a marginal fee.
    - All your guests will compliment you on this venue – one of the highlights for us was knowing our guests enjoyed the premises and will remember it.
    Cons
    - If you have more than 100 guests and want an indoor dinner, you will probably have to split them up into 2 rooms. We had 80 guests and everybody fit very comfortably in the main dining room. But over 100 would be too squishy in the one room.
    - There is no A/C due to the historic nature of the building. The Saturday evening in May that we got married was unusually hot and humid and A/C definitely would have been nice. However, the Cloisters staff is prepared for this and has high-powered fans blowing throughout to keep the building relatively cool. However, it did get a bit stuffy during the dancing. The fans can also be noisy and were a little distracting during one of the toasts (the speaker was on the more soft-spoken side).
    - Email is not the best way to get in touch with staff – definitely pick up the phone and leave a message if needed.

The Cloisters Castle was the perfect venue for our wedding. When we first went to the open house, we knew we had to have our wedding here. We booked the Cloisters a year and a half before our wedding date. It was the first decision that we made, and definitely one of the two most important things (food from Zeffert and Gold was #2 - amazing!) that made our wedding so wonderful.

The Cloisters is a great change from standard big, open, event halls. The building has so much character, that guests can roam around during any part of the wedding just to take it all in. We were worried about two things once we decided on the Cloisters. One, we wanted all of our guests to sit in one area and not be split up among the rooms, and two, the Cloisters doesn't have air conditioning.

Neither of these things were an issue when the day came. We had 110 guests and used the room with the stage for all of our guests to dine, and it was plenty of room. We had our bridal party scattered with close family and us on the stage at three tables, and it worked out perfectly for speeches and the blessing and to keep those people close to us. Plus, since we were all on the stage, people could easily see for the toasts, etc. The temperature was around 83, and the Cloisters does not have air conditioning, but they do have fans. They also have the beautiful Cloister Garden (where we did our ceremony) that you can put a few high top tables in so that guests can go outside as well. The one period where it was getting warm inside, we walked outside and it was beautiful and everyone was mingling checking out the garden and the different areas outside and inside. Five minutes later we were back inside and I honestly never thought about the temperature again. We made the room in front of the dining area the dance floor, and it worked great for our guests.

I think picking the Cloisters as our venue made our wedding extra special. It was such a 'different' place that guests were really interested in it and so many of our guests took pictures of themselves in the different areas. Annie is great to work with as well!

The Cloisters Castle is beautiful anytime of year. Trust me, I visited so many open houses that Annie and Kimmie are probably glad our wedding is over. And that was after having booked The Cloisters on our first visit. We instantly knew this was the place for us. The patience through our questions, the laughter and encouragement with advice, and the overall kindness (while firm in expectations) from Annie and Kimmie is to be praised. One reason that we also chose this site is because the property is owned and managed by the Baltimore City Office of Promotions and Arts. So proceeds from this go to Artscape and other events that we support. Our guests could not stop talking about the venue and yours would love it too.

You just know when something feels right ..... when we walked into the Cloisters Castle for the first time and were greeted by Annie, we knew this was the place for our wedding. The venue is beautiful and offers so much flexibility for both large and small weddings. It's really the kind of place where the pictures on the website don't do it justice - you have to see it in person to appreciate how spectacular it truly is. We had a beautiful, sunny fall day that created incredible opportunities for truly unique pictures. Annie and her staff fulfilled all of our expectations and delivered on exactly what was promised. All of our family and friends were amazed at the beauty of the castle and our photographer captured so many original pictures from that day. One of the best features of the castle is the kids room. We had 12 kids at our wedding (3 of our own) and the kids room upstairs provided a place for little ones to sit, relax and watch a movie. What a great benefit that was to have a place for the kids to go while waiting for the ceremony to start and during the reception when the adults were still eating. If we could do it all over again, we'd choose the Cloisters Castle again.

My husband and I were married here in April 2012 on a Friday evening and it was amazing. Anne and all the staff are very professional and friendly and will go out of their way to make your wedding perfect. Everyone was very professional and responsive to my questions and allowed us to leave our decorations at the venue the night before the wedding when we had our rehearsal, one advantage to having a Friday wedding. It has been more than a year since our wedding and our friends and relatives are still talking about what a wonderful venue it is and how they really enjoyed exploring during our reception. We had approximately 75 guest and it worked our perfect to have the reception in the one larger room and the wedding was outside in the court yard. The Cloisters' staff worked great with all of our vendors and to my knowledge we had no mishaps during the day. I would highly recommend Anne and the Cloisters to anyone looking for a unique venue for a wedding or other special occasion.

Our wedding at The Cloisters was absolutely spectacular! Our guests couldn't stop commenting on how neat a venue it was. The location is really wonderful, and The Cloisters staff are fantastic to work with. We made several trips there for different tours or to measure things, and every time we were greeted warmly. The staff is professional and very helpful. They made sure our event ran smoothly, we didn't have to worry about a thing. Having our wedding at The Cloisters made the day even more special.

Ahhhhh... Cloisters. I was recommended this location by a friend who wasn't able to have her wedding here due to too many guests (much above 50 and you have to split into two rooms, which gets a little awkward). With her advice, I didn't even bother looking into other venues, and booked Cloisters immediately. What a happy decision! The staff was awesome and supportive, and really, you can't beat the venue. If you're like me, and hate DIY nonsense, you don't even have to worry about decorating because it's already so beautiful. You do need a relatively small wedding, and have to be willing to deal with a little heat if you get married in full summer as I did (no A/C), but I loved having my wedding here and would recommend it to anyone.

Cloisters Castle was the perfect venue for my new husband and I to celebrate. I really liked that there are so many rooms to use - we had dinner in one room, dancing in another, and it was great because we knew not everyone was going to be dancing. With this setup we ensured that those who opted out of dancing could still talk to other guests without being drowned out by music. Since you have the entire place to yourself for the whole event, your guests can roam around the castle, check out different floors and mingle.

Having tables and chairs included in the rental price was perfect - no need to worry about those! They also had a closet of items you could borrow from to use as centerpieces, or to supplement whatever you were going to bring in. We honestly went really light on the decorations because the castle is so pretty all by itself. The long list of approved caterers ensures you can find many options to work within your budget.

Annie and Kimi were by far the easiest people to work with - we absolutely adored them! Professional yet laid-back, friendly and funny. Annie actually called me a few days before my wedding to see if we wouldn't mind if a tent that was going to be setup for the wedding the day before could stay - and by the way, we could use it free of charge. It was absolutely perfect.

For the day-of stuff, the rep was around but at that point the caterer was really running the show and setup. We just didn't want to leave! I'd hang out at that castle every weekend if I could. All of our guests loved that it was different than your average ballroom wedding and we've seen tons of pictures of people posing with the suits of armor!

In short - lots of setup options, very little extra decorating to do, perfect people to work with.

After an exhaustive search of venues in the central Maryland/D.C. area, my daughter and her fiance chose The Cloisters and had never regretted it. The building is utterly gorgeous, provided just the right atmosphere for an elegant, classic wedding. Even more important, the staff was so welcoming, friendly, accommodating and easy to work with, they made the wedding day, and the days leading up to it, so much less stressful than they might have been.

The compliments from the guests were endless, the pictures so beautiful they look like they came from a magazine.

The Cloisters is absolutely a place you should check out for your wedding.

Annie from the Cloisters, and actually all of the staff there, were absolutely bend-over-backwards accomodating. I never did receive responses to my emails sent, but if I ever called, I ALWAYS got an answer. Even if I left a message, I always received a return call. Everything went off perfectly, the castle was actually already decorated a bit and the decorations worked so well with our wedding decor, that we left them up. However, they were more than willing to lose anything we didn't like. Everyone was friendly, helpful, and even on the day of as my guests walked around the castle, staff answered questions and told them some of the history. Highly recommend.

The Cloisters is just an amazing venue to have a wedding/reception! It's such a unique place. Our guests loved roaming around the upper floors during the reception and hearing about the history of the building. The staff are so friendly, flexible and laid back. We decided the night before the wedding that we wanted the ceremony to be outside so they prepared the courtyard that evening and the next morning. Everything was perfect! We had 130 guests. We were originally concerned we would have problems with space, but everything worked out fine in the end. We had a really great party!

The Cloisters was the PERFECT venue for our Medieval/Renaissance themed wedding! The staff is friendly and helpful, always quick to respond to an email or phone call, and went out of their way to ensure every detail was perfect.

Our photographer had a lot of fun utilizing the scenery for our wedding photos as well. Everything was so beautiful. I highly recommend attending one of their Open House events to see this place for yourself - the photos on the website don't quite capture the breathtaking beauty of this venue.

The Cloisters is the most beautiful venue I could imagine for a wedding. It's truly a fairytale setting. You can get married in a castle! Not only is it beautiful, if you're willing to get married on a Friday night like we did, or a Sunday, it's very affordable. All of the rental fees go to support the arts in Baltimore, so it's your supporting a good cause as well. Annie, who manages the Cloisters, also helped us out tremendously when we had a disaster with our hotel a week before the wedding. The Chase Suites, over booked their hotel and told us 7 days before our wedding, that they could no longer accomodate us or our guests. We had over 20 rooms booked! Annie convinced their corporate manager to book us at the Embassy Suites ( a much nice hotel) and got them to pay for the difference in cost for all of our guests. She was amazing and saved our wedding. I would love to have an excuse to have another event there. It's so beautiful.

This is the perfect venue for a wedding!! the castle and the lush gardens are great for photos and create such a romantic atmosphere. Another plus is you really don't have to do much decorating as the decor and landscaping speak for itself. All of our guests kept saying this was the most amazing wedding venue they'd ever seen! Even the kids at the wedding had a blast exploring! I will always cherish my beautiful castle wedding.

She was quick to respond & helpful with all details no matter how small or how many emails I sent- and I sent A LOT of them !! " Patient & polite "

The venue was the PERFECT location for the time of year & was simply magical - not to ever be forgotten , the setting in the woods, the " castle " look & the details that can only be found in such a location- " perfect "

We would not have gotten married anywhere else! Our guests loved the venue! They wandered around to view all of the beautiful rooms! The lighted spiral staircase made for some beautiful pictures. There is no air conditioning and we got married in July and our guests said once they had a cold drink in hand they were fine! The Cloisters provided fans to keep the air circulating. We had timely responses to all emails and enjoyed the various vendor nights where we could look at different caterers, photographers etc.

Annie Aplegarth at the Cloisters is absolutely wonderful to work with. She always responded to my emails, she had no issue with us showing up randomly for our pre rehearsal (my fiance and I wanted to run through it before we got everyone there), she was extremely helpful at every step of the way and I cannot say enough good things about her. So if you think the Cloisters is as beautiful as we did and you choose this place then you will most certainly be happy with the service you receive along with it.
One more thing about Annie/the service - we put our guests up at the Radisson Cross Keys on Falls Rd because it was most conveniently located to all of our wedidng events. We had 2 shuttle services arranged to get the bm's and groomsmen to the Cloisters and they did not have our reservation or gave it to someone else Im not sure. Long story short, there was a huge fiasco b/c of this at the Radisson and Annie got wind of it. We ended up having our families take us to the castle b/c the Radisson never came through for us. Annie came upstairs while I was getting my makeup done and told me she called the hotel, reamed them out, threatened to take them off of their preferred vendor list and insisted they send a complimentary town car to pick me and my husband up at the end of the night.
Again, the service was above and beyond at the Cloisters. Obviously I'll be writing a different review of the Radisson Hotel.

Absolutely beautiful wedding venue and a great value for the cost. Annie, Kim, and Jennifer are all super sweet and helpful. The garden was the selling point for us and Kim does a lovely job with the flowers. You are allowed the full run of the house and there is only one wedding per day so there was plenty of space and time to set up and prepare. There are some inherently cheesy aspects to the "castle" like knights standing guard and unicorn murals, but some people are really into that. And if you aren't, the architectural details of the house are stunning and totally make up for the more kitschy elements. Plus, Milly (the dog who hangs around in the office) is really adorable as well! Really happy with this venue. Can't imagine our wedding anywhere else.

I can't imagine our wedding at any other place. There are so many reasons why The Cloisters was perfect: (1) It is a beautiful setting, particularly for a fall wedding when the leaves are changing; (2) We had the entire building to ourselves, so we felt like royalty for a day; (3) Our photos are absolutely stunning with the building as a backdrop - this is one reason we chose to get married during the day (on a Sunday at noon). After paying thousands of dollars for the venue, we wanted to be sure we could "capture" it in our photos. (4) This is owned by the City of Baltimore and the proceeds benefits arts and promotion programs. (5) You get to say that you were married in the same place as Will and Jada Smith!

I found the staff easy to work with, the venue was in great condition (recently painted) and the different rooms were useful to set up various stations. The one drawback about the space is that with 100 guests, half were in a different room and could not see the stage.

We were incredibly fortunate with the weather and were able to be married outdoors. It would have been a different experience entirely had we used the rain plan.

The Cloisters is a remarkable venue for a fairytale wedding. The beauty of the castle distinguishes itself from other wedding venues. Even simple things such as getting ready become magical in the upstairs rooms and the spiral staircase makes for an unforgettable entrance to the ceremony. There are countless stunning photo opportunities hidden among the venue and the staff is very helpful and supportive. Our December wedding allowed us to have fires in the fireplaces of the gallery (main room) and living room, adding an extra element of comfort and intimacy. The lighting can be adjusted in the rooms to create a romantic atmosphere and the catering options are broad. With the right florist and caterer, your wedding will certainly stand out from all others and it will be the most memorable day of your life. It absolutely was for us.

All of our guests loved the setting! This location is good for moderate sized weddings. We were able to comfortably seat 100 guests between 2 rooms for the reception and on the patio for the ceremony. Also, I would recommend renting the facility for the entire day because they only allow for 1 caterer per day. Whoever books the date first gets to pick. The director of The Cloisters is very easy to work with and responds promptly. I would definately host another function at this facility!

All of our guests were floored by this venue — the pictures online don’t really do it justice. There’s tons of space that you have access to so you can customize your wedding any way you would like and you get the entire property to yourself during the allotted time. You get the space for 1 hour of rehearsal and then 9 hours of wedding on the Big Day (3 of which have to be set-up) but you can pay for additional hours if you’d like. It has a bit of a romantic history too, if you care to read up about that on their website. At the end of September, we had the most perfect weather for our outdoor ceremony and dinner. To top it all off, our wedding photos look like they’re straight out of a fairytale. There are so many beautiful places to take photos that we were fighting the sunset to get all of the beautiful locals in. The staff was lovely to work with and it’s surprisingly affordable for what it is. I’m so glad we chose the Cloisters for our wedding.

The Cloisters is an absolutely stunning place to get married. Everyone I’ve talked to from our wedding commented about how amazing and unique the Cloisters was. From the suits of armor to the windmill, to the building itself, it really makes for a special place. We looked at one other place after looking at the Cloisters and it didn’t even come close. If you are looking for a unique place to get married, then the Cloisters should be at the top of your list!

We were married June 5, 2010 at the Cloisters, and it was everything I had ever dreamed of for my wedding. A beautiful outdoor garden ceremony and reception, in the shadows of a fairytale castle. I wanted peace and quiet, a place all to ourselves for our wedding. I wanted real candlelight, an almost magical quality to the night. When I first visited the Cloisters I fell in love, and Annie sat down with me and gave me some great advice about budget and vendors. They let me store decorations there the day before and leave them there until the Monday after, which was VERY helful. We also saved a lot of money by bringing our own alcohol to the event, which the Cloisters allows. There was a very brief sprinkling during the reception, but not enough to even have to go inside. It was pretty warm, but the fans cool the place down, and it didn't stop the dance floor from being PACKED all night. If you are the type of person who loves the outdoors, a beautiful garden, want a secluded venue, and don't mind a few drops of rain or the heat then the Cloisters is a gorgeous place to get married. The pictures, even amateur ones, came out PHENOMENAL. Almost all of our guests were from out of town and they loved the castle, so many great places to explore and take pictures.

The Cloisters is the most gorgeous ceremony/reception venue I've ever seen. Our wedding was so beautiful and it was so nice to have everything at one location. Annie and the rest of the team at the Cloisters were so great about accomodating us and really worked with us to make our wedding day so special. I love the fact that they only book one event per day so for my wedding we had the run of the entire property and didn't have to worry about bumping into another event. The rooms upstairs were so great for everyone to get ready in and took so much stress off in not having to worry about getting from here to there. Even though they have numerous weddings there each year they are great about making you feel that you and your wedding are special and unique.

The Cloisters was the first place we visited as a potential wedding venue, and though my Mom dragged me to about 10 more, my heart was set on it from the moment I saw it. So many guests commented on what a great place it is. It has so much character and charm. If you are having a small enough wedding, I couldn't recommend it more!

The Cloisters' staff was great. The only slight loss of "stars" is due to a slow return on phone calls and e-mails but luckily it never became a serious issue. However, they were extremely accommodating in allowing flexible drop off times for our decorations and extending our set up time (for a small fee) on the day of the wedding.

    Overall, a great choice!

The Cloisters was the perfect venue for our fall wedding. We got engaged in January and knew we wanted a fall wedding so we were in a bit of a scramble to nail down a venue before they were all booked up. Annie at The Cloisters sat down with me at an open house and let me put a hold on a day without a deposit while I discussed it with my then fiance. Because he wasn't able to join me at the open house, they let us in the following weekend before a scheduled event and gave us a private tour which I thought was so nice and accomodating. Keep in mind that it isn't heated or air conditioned but the temp inside was perfect on our wedding day (it was 45 degrees that day). We had a little over 100 guests and everyone was perfectly comfortable and we were able to seat everyone in one room. I loved that the building itself is ornate and beautiful that we didn't need to do much in the way of decor. They were really helpful on the day with setting up and made themselves available for questions/general support. I gave 4 out of 5 for responsiveness because it was sometimes difficult to get an e-mail response. They nearly always answered the phone though and if not, would call back fairly quickly. I got a great deal for having our wedding on Sunday as well! Much cheaper than anywhere else we priced, plus, you have the whole place for the day while other local venues will schedule multiple events per day. Overall, they were easy to work with and we were very happy with our choice.

We worked primarily with Annie, and she was really great. The only issue was that sometimes we had to follow up emails with phone calls for a response. Overall, they were very accommodating with everything we asked. The venue itself is so wonderful! Our guests were happily exploring the castle. We didn't need very many decorations because the castle is so pretty. It was unseasonably warm on our wedding day, and without anyone asking, they opened up the doors and had fans running.

Beautiful setting which offers more than you could want. Despite the extreme heat of our night, the old building (with no A/C) provided the perfect venue for our wedding. Guests had a blast! Minimal decorations are needed on top of the gorgeous garden and architectural details. Better for smaller weddings, but I don't regret filling the house with 125 guests!!

This was the one venue that we could both agree on. My husband didn't want a church wedding and I started looking at historic venues. The Cloisters has a wonderful story, has a room big enough to fit all 87 of our guests and a staff that made everything so pleasant. We got married in April so there was a risk of rain but The Cloisters have several different options that account for weather. Our ceremony was in the garden and the flowers were so beautiful. I'm so happy that we got to get married on a beautiful day at such a remarkable venue.

We chose the Cloisters because the it was unique and beautiful, not your typical hotel or country club. We got married in the garden and had our reception inside. The Cloisters only has one event per day and 5 hours is included in the price vs most venues 4 hour packages. We even bought an additional hour as we also had pre-reception cocktails prior to the ceremony. And our guests loved that they could have a drink in their hands while watching the ceremony! The garden was beautiful and the decoration of the house enabled me to keep my floral budget extremely low. Since we were the only event of the day, we were also able to take pictures prior to the wedding so that we could have more time at the reception. Our event only had 75 guests so we could seat everyone in one room-that would be harder with more people. If you're interested in using the Cloisters, they allow you to hold a date for 2 weeks at no charge. The staff was very good for our event. In the planning process the Cloisters are flexible to having you come in to see the place, but during business hours. Additionally, if you do get married there and you marry on a traditonal Saturday, your rehearsal will most likely be Thursday or early Fri am since the facility is probabaly booked. About two weeks before the rehearsal we fould out that the mayor was doing a press conference @ Cloisters on the evening of our rehearsal so we had to move our time an hour earlier. We were refunded for our additional hour that we bought for the reception due to our inconvenience.

Also, the venue has no A/C. Our event was in the evening and the daytime temp was 92. I wouldn't say that it was cool inside but certainly bearable with cold drinks. The Cloisters is a place that you and your guests will always remember. If cost is an issue, consider the 'off-peak' months or a less popular day of the week as the fees are much lower.

The Cloisters Castle is one of the most beautiful locations in the Baltimore area. No A/C there, so keep that in mind. Even so, the venue is perfect for weddings up to 150 people. Annie had several open houses, during which we were able to check out the venue and meet with some of the vendors who frequently work there. The castle has a list of approved caterers from which you must choose, but don't be deterred by that - the list is long and distinguished.

On the day of the event, the venue was immaculately clean. The gardens were beautiful and despite one hiccup regarding not using rose petals on the tables (they could stain the floor if they are crushed), everything went off very nicely.

If you are looking for an old-world style venue with some very captivating photographs, look no further.

    Wonderful venue

We had a wonderful time getting married at the Cloisters. Our families loved touring the venue and commented on how they have never been to a wedding like it before!

Unfortunately it rained on our wedding and we had to get married inside but it still ended up being a magical ceremony nonetheless.

Magical venue - a hidden treasure!

We had no idea the Cloisters Castle even existed before I found it here searching for venues - the location is really convenient, but nicely secluded from the main roads so that your event can feel private and isolated from "reality." I immediately fell in love before we even toured, and when we visited in person, I just knew it was where I wanted our wedding to be. Our guests loved how unique and interesting the venue is, with its beautiful architecture, stained glass, murals, and overall atmosphere. The courtyard was beautiful and like my dream ceremony space. The team was great to work with, answering all of my questions, chatting with us when we visited again to show our moms, and helping us make the best use of our time. We LOVED that there were two separate (and very very spacious!) suites so that we could each be there, enjoying our friends and getting ready, and yet not bump into each other before ceremony time. Being able to get dressed and decompress a little bit onsite before everything began was really wonderful, and the rooms are so gorgeous it felt much more special than just being in a generic hotel room. I am just so enamored with this venue - it was perfect in every way.

Our wedding was beautiful and the Cloisters played a major part in that! All of our guests adored the venue and its' uniqueness. I had planned for our ceremony and reception to both be outdoors but it ended up raining that day, although we did get to have a shortened version of our ceremony outdoors in the cloistered garden. Afterward, our reception was indoors. And it was super hot, as was to be expected with no AC in August. I knew this going in and I figured the beauty of the venue was worth being a little hot but my advice is to make sure you are really ok with that before booking the Cloisters in the summer months, because if you aren't, you will not be happy with the heat indoors. Staff at the Cloisters were always friendly to us; definitely more of a laid back style there though so don't expect anyone to fawn all over you and your wedding. Overall, I would totally recommend the Cloisters!

The Cloisters is such a beautiful site for a wedding, and it was perfect for the size and style of our wedding. We wanted a low-key event where our guests could walk around both inside and outside and interact with each other while enjoying different food stations set up throughout the first floor. We also hoped for an outdoor ceremony and the weather cooperated, fortunately. I can’t think of a better location for a fall wedding than the cloistered garden. The Cloisters is somewhat rustic, but also gorgeous, and it suited us perfectly. We enjoyed working with Annie and the other staff. Although they never took themselves or us too seriously (in a good way), everyone was very professional and responsive on the day of the wedding. So many of our guests have said that we picked an amazing place to get married, and I completely agree.

The perfect venue for a magical, romantic winter wedding. If you do not want the stereotypical ballroom and are looking for an old mansion, this venue is for you. It has high ceilings, giant fireplaces and lots of windows with window ledges. We brought in 140 votive candles to place on the mantels and window ledges. The lights are on dimmers. I had only seen the venue during the daylight hours and was delighted it was as romantic as I had hoped. I chose the venue in large part because I wanted roaring, wood-burning fires. Well, I was disappointed in that regard – the fires were nothing more than a flame coming out of the top of the log, similar to a Duraflame when it doesn’t catch. But the rest of the venue more than made up for my disappointment in the fires.

We had the ceremony on the 3rd floor. What a romantic, intimate setting for a wedding! The lighting was perfect up there, too. Having the ceremony on the 3rd floor will only work with about 80 or less guests though.

I found the best way to communicate with the Cloisters staff was by phone, rather than by e-mail. I was less than impressed with my interactions with the director, but I do still highly recommend the venue, which itself is 5 stars! I did learn that the Cloisters does not enforce all of their own rules, so be sure to ask. For instance, their rules dictate that the candle wicks be 2 inches from the top of the glass, so we spent a great deal of time finding the right hurricanes only to learn a month before that the wicks just have to be below the glass. Also, you will find that the contract offered by the City of Baltimore provides you no protection for the many things the City says the fee includes on the website.

The Cloisters was an absolutely beautiful venue and fit our wedding theme perfectly. Even though we ended up having to change our plans to an indoor wedding three hours before the ceremony because of the weather, everything went smoothly. The only problems I encountered were that the rehearsal needed to be on Thursday evening or Friday morning, which didn't work for most of the wedding party, and it was pretty difficult finding a time that worked for everyone to do the walk through. Overall, I was very happy with my experience with the Cloisters and would love to have another event there!

The Cloisters is a beautiful venue. I was amazed from the first time I saw the castle. It sits on a hill among acres of woods. The staff was very responsive and professional. The only negative comment that I have is we had to do our rehearsal on Friday morning because they had an event that evening. The majority of the wedding party was from out of state, so it made it difficult. Overall I would highly recommend this venue. They do open houses frequently, so you can visit the site without making an appointment.

A Cloisters has a beautiful setting...the castle just has amazing photo opportunities. They were pretty easy to work with as far as scheduling the wedding. In fact, they were very helpful and offered us an earlier date, which was great because of the weather. We had one issue on the day of the wedding that I was not so happy about. Before we had our grand exit, the next wedding was already setting up. The wedding coordinator was nosing around and actually tried to take our programs/favors. It was my one bridzilla moment. Other than that, I still love the fact that my reception and ceremony were in the same location, it makes it so much easier to have the guests stay in the same place. I love that we had such a unique location.

My husband and I checked out about 10 venues before we fell in love with The Cloisters. It is beautiful inside and out, and perfect for breath-taking photographs! Our friends and family loved it, as well. You can't help but feel romantic here, but even some of the men in my family who are in construction were talking to me afterwards about how much they were interested in the construction and architecture (completely unexpected!).

There are plenty of open houses, and they are pretty good about letting you visit and check everything out. We did several times in the months before our wedding. It's also how we met and chose some of our vendors. Annie and Kimmy are very nice, and will respond to phone calls (less quickly to emails). They are pretty strict on all of their policies and do not negotiate prices at all. We ended up buying an extra hour to make sure we had enough time for the reception since we booked on a Friday evening. The price isn't bad for the size and aesthetic appeal of everything, but it isn't cheap either. We definitely encouraged exploration since we didn't want to waste all of the space/rooms on the second and third floor. We did a "scavenger hunt" type activity with trivia about us to invite everyone to check everything out.

The staff was excellent for our rehearsal and wedding. They made sure we had everything we needed, unlocked all of the doors we used, and then kind of stayed out of the way. They and the caterer helped clean up and even carried multiple loads to our cars at the end of the night.

The Cloisters is a fabulous and unique venue for a wedding ceremony and reception. The staff were very accommodating and helpful in making my wedding a success even though Hurricane Irene forced us to move the wedding from starting at 6:00pm outside to 12:00pm inside. Without their flexibility, our wedding most likely would not have taken place on August 27.

The Cloisters is absolutely gorgeous. We were so excited to find this location. There are so many wonderful photo opportunities here- everywhere you turn there is something exciting to look at. Use of the entire castle was great- our guests loved being able to tour the castle during the course of the reception. They can be a little slow to respond to messages, but are also lax on receiving payments on the exact dates they are due. The only things I would have to say to anyone deciding on this location is if you have more guests than you can seat in the main room for dinner, it worked out fine for us with our 150 guests to seat them in the main room and another one of the smaller rooms- however I would recommend keeping the dance area to the stage area in the gallery rather than using the dining room (as we did) for its not as open and didnt allow for any of our guests who wanted/had to sit to interact with the rest of us. Also we had our cocktail hour on the 2nd floor which was really nice to have the different scenery for our guests- they really enjoyed this.

I was amazed by this location the first time I saw it, at another couple's wedding. It is in such great shape and so unique for that bride looking for a castle or outdoorsy-feel for her wedding. The staff was great to work with. There are some limitations because it is an old building, especially around candles, luminaries, sparklers, etc. We comfortably fit about 110 guests on the first floor, between the two larger rooms and still had plenty of room for the bar, the buffet, the cake, and dancing. Now that I have a friend going through the wedding process, I'm also learning how great a deal we got financially at the Cloisters, especially with the flexibility of not having to have a Saturday wedding. They also have a great approved caterer list and many vendor resources available for couples planning their perfect day. It was an amazing night that I'll never forget, and most of that goes to the location, location, location!

This venue is AMAZING. All of my guests for my wedding went crazy taking photos and running around trying to tour the building and check out all of its great features. My husband and I planned a tasteful medieval themed wedding and this location is absolutely fantastic for them. There are so many spare rooms, you won't be able to fill them all. There is also a kids room on the top floor that is perfect to distract little ones (tv, videos, tiny tables, futon, anything you need really). Aside from being a simply gorgeous location, the staff is also really nice and accommodating. I would have given a 5-star review, but the one issue we had is that it was sometimes difficult to get a hold of the staff. Emails simply do not work as it seems they do not check their emails. You will need to call and make sure you understand their hours because they aren't standard M-F 9-5pm. Even some of the calls went unanswered but eventually, they got back to us so it wasn't a big deal but could use some improvement. Other than that, this place made my dream wedding come true and I would do it all again!

The Cloisters was a beautiful, unique venue for our wedding. The grounds are well-kept and the castle is breathtaking. Our spring wedding was full of kilts, turkey legs, and bagpipes, but you could easily do a bright summery wedding, more sophisticated fall wedding, or wonderful wintery wedding. Rental includes tables and chairs - how easy is that??

Out of everything we had at our wedding, the music, the food, the decorations, the one thing that every guest commented enthusiastically on was the venue. We wanted something unique for our special day, and we definitely got that. The Open Houses every month are great for meeting vendors and just being able to enjoy the atmosphere. It is hot there in the summer. We had an especially warm day in early June, but we had mentally prepared for the lack of air conditioning. However, some guests were not ready for that and felt some discomfort. To us though, this is something you just need to live with if you want this venue. And we don't regret for a second the extra sweat we endured to have our fairytale wedding location here.

The Cloisters is absolutely lovely. If you look at the photos on their website, you'll get a good idea of the architecture and aesthetic of the place. One of the most overlooked features, I think, is the windmill out back.

I gather it was donated to Baltimore by a family that had the money and the whimsy to build themselves a castle using period-appropriate building materials and methodology. We knew about it because my now-husband went there as a child, when it was home to the children's museum that has since become Port Discovery.

Aside from its beauty and convenience to the city, we decided to get married at the Cloisters because it was a fraction of the cost of most other places we considered. We paid just less than $3000 for a Friday evening in April, because it wasn't a weekend and was slightly before the "wedding season" took off. Chairs and tables are there to begin with, which again helped keep costs down. You do have to work from a pre-approved list of caterers, which can be expensive, but they all know a great deal about the venue and thus can be profoundly helpful as you plan.

    Recommended to all.

We were very pleased with having our wedding at the Cloisters. The only thing that I would say is that the staff was not always very responsive to my emails before the wedding. Other than that the setting was beautiful and it was also a great value!

This is a wonderful venue that made our wedding day extraordinary... For a winter wedding, the decor and ambience produced a romantic, intimate atmosphere in which everyone was able to find a space to enjoy their time. Generally speaking, the staff were excellent - with one key exception. The lady who was overseeing our evening ("Melissa", who we had never met before) had an almost comically bad attitude - so bad that I would have found funny if it was not my wedding. Whereas the caterer etc. had the common sense to NOT interrupt the bride, to discreetly take me to one side as issues arose etc. this particular lady, dressed in the scruffiest clothes and with a permanent scowl, kept barging through the guests to interrupt anyone she could find (bride included) with whatever issue was on her mind. Everything she dealt with was presented as a major problem that was ruining HER evening, and at one point I had to physically instruct her to not hassle the bride any more since there were other people, such as myself, who would be better suited to solving her problems(?!). No end of guests ended up asking me who she was and why she carried herself with so little grace for the situation. I strongly reccommend that you ask she NOT be overseeing your event, and then I think you can be sure of a wonderful evening - all the other staff we worked with were wonderful, professional and kind - the fact that all our guests (and ourselves) enjoyed ourselves is a powerful testament to just how great the venue is.

The Cloisters provided the perfect setting for our romantic wedding. This is the opposite of the traditional hotel conference room setting! This is also the venue Will and Jada Smith were married. It is a medieval-esque castle, with stone walls, a beautiful winding staircase (perfect for photographs!) well-kept landscaping, and beautiful courtyard. I would recommend this venue during the spring or fall months as it is not air-conditioned. However, this contributes to a lower price point in the summer which is great if you're looking for an amazing setting at better price. It was very warm the day of our wedding (6/18) but the courtyard cooled off as the sun went down. In addition, we were married on a Monday which also cut the cost nearly in half.

As for the service, the person in charge was surprisingly unresponsive in the beginning but I felt like it was because we weren't their traditionally wealthy clients. She was helpful later on with we had issues with our caterer. However, on the night, she didn't help as she had promised to.

All in all, the venue is absolutely breathtaking and made up for any hiccups we encountered with personnel. Absolutely stunning!

The Cloisters was a beautiful wedding venue. The weather was perfect for a September wedding. The bride and groom suite was so nice to have a place to get ready in. The Garden was perfect for the ceremony. I really enjoyed looking out the window at the guests in the Garden before walking down the aisle. I am in love with the spiral staircase. The chapel was the perfect place for displaying our cake. This wedding venue is so grand and was perfect for our rustic wedding.

We LOVED our venue aesthetically - it's truly gorgeous and unique, and we get lots of compliments from our wedding party and guests. However, the staff is somewhat difficult to work with. They do not respond well to email - you really have to call in if you want to make sure you get an answer to your questions. And, the venue has lots of rigid rules - some of which make sense, others are less clear. You have to be willing to deal with the rules and the rigid staff if you want to get married here. It certainly didn't ruin our wedding, but the inflexibility of the staff definitely made our day a little more difficult. We wouldn't have changed venues for anything because we loved the place so much, though.

Beautiful Venue - Not the Best at Communication

We chose the venue because it is so beautiful. It truly delivered on that during the day. The interior is gorgeous with all its murals and details and the exterior is just WOW.

Just a few things to note, FYI:
    - The venue says that it can accommodate 150 guests. While this is possible, once you get over 100 it becomes very tight indoors in the event of bad weather. We had initially invited 150 guests and luckily with COVID the final count came in at 120 guests. The weather was beautiful so we were able to have the ceremony in the garden and everyone got a seat. However, if it had rained, the only place the venue could fit 150 guests is either in the Gallery on the first floor (which we were using for dining tables) or on the top floor. The top floor, while beautiful, is much smaller than the garden or amphitheater and only accessible by spiral staircase. We were told that they can only set up 70 chairs on the third floor and that a lot of guests would have to stand in the back.
    - Communication with the venue is iffy. It takes awhile to receive answers via email. Within the month of the wedding, I had to call several times to get answers to pressing questions. I think the best way to get straight answers is to schedule an in-person meeting at the venue.
    - They have certain caterers that you must choose from. If you select this venue go with Pantry. They were amazing.

Beautiful, beautiful venue. It has a lot of indoor and outdoor space to accommodate any type of weather. There is only one party per day. You can have the venue for 10 hours. They are accommodating to children. It does not have air conditioning so pick your time of year wisely.

The Cloisters is an amazingly gorgeous venue and it really does offer a great value if you pay attention to all the fine print. We had a reasonably small wedding but found it hard to fit everyone in the room for the ceremony when we had to go to the rain plan, even tho we were told that the room could easily fit more than our number of guests. We had 72 people at our wedding, I couldn't imagine having many more than that unless you want to have your guests split among multiple rooms.
It was also difficult to get a hold of people at the Cloisters, and I had to send a few emails in order to receive our final contract. Phone calls are great, but it's much easier for me to send emails than step outside my office and head outside to make a call. If you have easier access to a phone, this might not be an issue for you.
The real kicker was the day of the wedding, during the reception, when they tried to end our event early. We had paid for the 5hour package but at around 20til our DJ was told that the song he was playing would be our last song. Luckily he had a copy of the contract and was able to take care of that problem, but it was troubling to hear that and imagining what could have happened had he not had that information.
I would recommend the Cloister to anyone who is planning a wedding under 70 people, but couldn't in good faith recommend it to anyone planning an event with more than 100 guests.

My wedding was spectacular at this gorgeous venue.

There were things along the way that I did not like and I did not always feel like I mattered to them.

They rushed us out after the vendors packed up even though we paid for 10 full hours and had only used about 7.5 hours.

Also, if you need to contact them beware of email as my emails sent unanswered for weeks. I later found out their email put me into spam - but it doesn't make sense because they had responded to emails from me previously. Plan to call and be persistent because it's not always easy to reach them by phone either.

Other than that it is a beautiful place and my wedding was everything I dreamed it would be.
