Delicious, beautiful, gluten-free cake

Vanessa did an amazing job with our cake! She is truly a creative cake genius…. We needed a gluten free cake and she was able to modify any of her cakes for us - we sampled so many and had trouble choosing because everything tasted like a dream. We showed her one picture as inspiration and she turned our vision into a reality even better than we could’ve hoped for. The cake fit our theme/decor so well and was delicious! No one even knew it was gluten free and everyone enjoyed it... Along the way, we also bought so many pastries and desserts from the bakery and will continue to frequent the Chocolate Rose on all our Cape trips. Thank you!

Vanessa and her team were fabulous!!! I wanted to have The Chocolate Rose for me Wedding Cake and Dessert Table but sadly she was booked for our date. I was in a bit of a panic as many Bakeries were fully booked due to the rebooked of weddings from 2020. She offered to do the dessert table items and were able to pick them up the morning of August 15 for drop-off at the Dan'l Webster Inn. We added in some "twinkies and other pastries" as a joke to the groom! People raved about the dessert table! We are so appreciative of Vanessa and her team for working with us. Her desserts were delicious and reasonable! Thank you so much!!

Amazing Cake

We recently used The Chocolate Rose for our wedding cake. Vanessa did an amazing job. The cake was stunning but mostly importantly it was delicious. We had three flavors and there were all incredible. Vanessa is very helpful. Her sense of design and attention to detail are terrific. I recommend her without hesitation.

HIGHLY recommend!

Vanessa made the cake for our wedding on a very short deadline and it was amazing! It looked beautiful and it tasted even better! She was so great to work with - we wanted flowers on the outside of the cake so she arrived early (after coordinating with our florist) to place them before the ceremony began! HIGHLY recommend!!

Dessert queen!!!

Vanessa is great at what she does!! My fiancé and I aren’t too big into cake and wanted something that everyone could enjoy. We did a dessert table with different sweets for everybody. After a tasting and telling Vanessa about our likes and dislikes, she composed a sheet of desserts to have at our wedding. THEY WERE A HUGE HIT!! We had grandparents all the day down to 5 year old kids and there was something for everyone to enjoy. The decor she chose matched our theme perfectly!!!!

Great work, awesome detail!!!

Vanessa was so easy to work with she walked me through all three flavors I picked. I had a speciality gluten free cake she made it taste like it wasn't gluten free at all. She can do different flavors for each layer as well. The cake turned out great!! I highly recommend the Chocolate Rose to any bride/ groom to be!!!

My daughter and her fiancé myself and my husband met with Vanessa at The Chocolate Rose to discuss her wedding cake. She was our first choice, and the best choice. We sat down with Vanessa and did a taste testing of pre-ordered choices, they were all so delicious. Vanessa asked to the bride to be and her fiancé to describe the wedding they were planning, with a few words. Vanessa then drew on paper her vision of what the cake should look like. It was perfect!

We are so glad that we were referred to Vanessa by my brother. He said she was one of the best vendors at my niece's wedding, and that we should contact her early in our planning. I'm so happy we got that recommendation! Vanessa at the Chocolate Rose was incredibly professional, accommodating, and sincerely interested in providing the most beautiful and delicious cake for my daughter's wedding, and boy - did she deliver! The cake was GORGEOUS! and it was equally DELICIOUS! My fiancé and I HIGHLY recommend Vanessa. Our cake was beautiful and delicious! She has so many flavors to choose from and she sends you home with extra cake to try after the tasting. She even includes a fresh "top tier" cake in her wedding packages so that you don't have to eat frozen cake on your anniversary.

Vanessa and her team were wonderful to work with for our wedding this past June. The Chocolate Rose came highly recommended from The Knot and Wedding Wire, from there we set up a planning meeting and everything they had to offer WOW'ed me! From the cake, to the desserts and pastries as well as the overall planning and execution. If you are looking for a high end experience, delicious sweets, beautiful presentation and overall great price look no further than Vanessa and The Chocolate Rose!

We loved our wedding cake and the dessert table was a total hit! Vanessa really put in the extra time to make the dessert table look like a work of art. Everything was extremely delicious. We will definitely use The Chocolate Rose again in the future!

On the day of our wedding, before walking down the aisle, I had a sneak preview of the reception area and there it was, towering in the center of the room: Our cake was beautiful! It looked even better than I imagined. At the end of the night, when we asked guests how the food was, several people remarked on the delicious cake -- it really was moist and good! It was a pleasure to work with Vanessa and I highly recommend the Chocolate Rose. Can't wait for our one year anniversary to savor more of Vanessa's confections!

We were so happy with Vanessa from the Chocolate Rose, from the planning process to the cake delivery, she made everything very simple for us (and gives VERY generous portions for cake tasting--which is a delightful treat). During our initial meeting, I could tell that Vanessa was truly focused on creating a cake that captures more than just my pinterest pins and asked about the atmosphere we hoped to create at our wedding, inspiration from my dress, and our unique styles--and we were very happy with her prices, as well. She worked seamlessly with our florist to create a stunning 4-tiered semi-naked cake with flecks of gold leaf and three delicious flavors (because we couldn't choose just one). Her cake was so beautiful, its photo got its own page in our wedding album.

Vanessa knew exactly what I was looking for from the first sit down. From the flavors to the look and even to the feel I had for the day. Though simple, our cake came out beyond my expectations and was absolutely stunning! She was very flexible when I wanted to change last minute details to our cake and worked with my florist and other vendors so I didn’t need to facilitate. Everything went smoothly the day of our wedding and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking for their dream wedding cake!

The Chocolate Rose was our first choice for our daughters wedding cake. Vanessa listened to our needs and created the most perfect creation for us! Multiple guests came up to me stating this was the best wedding cake they ever had! We could not choose what flavor to have so we ended up picking 4. One more delicious than the other! We could not have been happier with the outcome of our wedding cake! If there were more stars to give, we would gladly give The Chocolate Rose more! Vanessa was a delight in helping us pick out the cake size and flavors. Vanessa was also so kind when helping us design our cake and she did such a great job at bringing all of our visions to life. At the tasting, we knew right away that our guests would fight over it. When we saw the cake on our wedding day we were so pleased, we felt that this was one of the best features at our venue! We had a small wedding, (around 70 guest) and we literally heard from everyone how much they liked the cake. Many of them told us that they had to have multiple pieces of cake because every flavor was so delicious. Some even asked if there was any more cake hidden away and they were surprised when they found out that the cake was Gluten Free. Our flavors were Coconut Rum, Black Forest and Strawberry Almond so not just one lousy Gluten Free flavor. We will definitely go back for not just cakes but all things Vanessa makes, for our next events. She is truly amazing and so easy to work with. We won't hesitate to recommend The Chocolate Rose to any of our friends not only for a wedding but for any special occasion!

As soon as my daughter and I met Vanessa from Chocolate Rose we knew she was the one that would create a special dessert table for my daughter’s wedding. My daughter got married this past weekend (10/28/2017) and the dessert table was just amazing. Vanessa is a genius at creating a table design that was elegant, gorgeous and every dessert was absolutely beautiful and delicious. The guests thought the entire display was exquisite and we got some many compliments. It was perfect, had the wow factor and well beyond what we expected..

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! Vanessa and the Chocolate Rose were recommended by our venue and we couldn't be more happy with the results! We had a 100 person wedding with a 3 tier cake and went with a different flavor per tier (chocolate raspberry, chocolate champagne mousse, and my favorite- the fireside favorite aka s'mores).

The tasting was lovely and super fun as I went with my teenage cousins since my fiancé wasn't able to make it. She executed my cake requests beautifully and the end result was just stunning. We went with a darker grey icing with gold accents and she was super willing to go along with this more non-traditional request (and figure out how to make it taste great). Added bonus for Instagram loving people- Vanessa keeps her feed up to date so you are able to see her most recent creations through your whole planning process. Would HIGHLY recommend the Chocolate Rose to future couples!

Absolutely OUTSTANDING!
Vanessa spent a lot of time with my husband and me discussing the design for our wedding cake and was very communicative during the whole process. It was absolutely gorgeous - just as I had imagined! We had 3 different cakes for the three tiers: pink velvet, mudslide, and lemon, all with a perfect buttercream frosting. Our guests were overwhelmed with how beautiful and delectable the cake was. Very impressive!

My wedding cake was even better than I imagined!! Not only did Vanessa work with me OUT OF STATE via skype, but she catered to my needs and my mothers needs. The cake was absolutely delicious and the design was incredible. I hope everyone goes to see her. She is so talented.

Vanessa was excellent to work with and after our tasting, my husband and I were sold! She asked the right questions so we were in sync right from the beginning. Sadly on our wedding day, neither of us got to taste our cake or cupcakes but luckily we ordered enough to have leftovers. The next day we shared them at a family party and got the following responses from multiple people - "THESE WERE THE BEST CUPCAKES I EVER TASTED, WHERE DID YOU GET THESE?" Vanessa made a beautiful wedding cake for our small, intimate Cape Cod wedding. We chose the Fireside Favorite flavor (Vanilla cake with chocolate ganache, graham & marshmallow). It was light and delicious, perfect for a summer evening. Vanessa listened to everything we wanted and helped us come up with the perfect design to fit our aesthetic. We highly recommend her!

Vanessa is SO creative, my dream cake was quite complicated in my opinion, and she was the only cake artist who could make it! I went to so many cake tastings, but she had the best tasting cake. Vanessa was wonderful to work with.
We needed a gluten free cake for my daughters wedding last June.
We met and had taste tests and came up with a beautiful and delicious creation.

We decided to get married on July 4th with a three week notice, yikes! But, thankfully, Vanessa was able to take us on and was Amazing! She is a delight, is very thorough and one heck of a baker. The cake was totally beautiful, delicious beyond belief and a huge success. We went with three different flavored layers as we couldn't decide on just one...they were that good! Your search for a wedding cake vendor should begin and end with The Chocolate Rose. We had spent a lot of time looking for wedding cake options. Vanessa's cake not only looked beautiful but tasted unbelievable. There wasn't a piece left. From the initial tasting, to the design, and final delivery Vanessa was spectacular. She took the time to listen to what we were looking for, gave us many options, and came through from start to finish. People that were at the wedding are still commenting on how wonderful the cake was. Excellent value, excellent service, excellent product.

Im not even sure what to say or how to say it. Vanessa completely exceeded our expectations, the cake was absolutely beautiful, the flavors were amazing, and the attention to detail was so amazing. She asked questions during our tasting that we didnt even think of, and gave us options with her sketches. We knew the cake would look nice, but we had no idea that it would have been a masterpiece. All the guests are STILL talking about the cake, and the venue told us it was the most beautiful cake they have ever seen there. Vanessa is a treasure. She's such a joy to work with! From the very first meeting with her, we instantly hit it off. She's kind, knowledgeable and engaging. She listened to our ideas but more importantly got to know us as a couple-- what made us special, what was unique to our relationship. We came in with pictures of other cakes that we liked, but had other ideas we wanted to incorporate and did not know how. We're archaeologists (we met on an archaeological dig) so we wanted to include that in our special day. She took that and ran with it, giving us all sorts of ideas of unique ways to pay tribute to our profession and our story. Her suggestions were things I would never have thought of on my own, but would make our day uniquely us. She never let us settle for something we had just seen on Pinterest. She is an artist and really takes the time and energy to make the perfect cake for each couple. I was really nervous about the final outcome of the cake, as I was unsure how it would all come together (we'd never seen anything like it, after all-- how many archaeologist cakes are there?) but it was better than we ever could have imagined. It came out better than perfect. Her craftmanship and attention to detail was astounding. We gave her a really complicated image to replicate, in a small and cramped space, and she executed it flawlessly. We couldn't believe it! It was the perfect centerpiece and everyone couldn't stop saying how amazing it was.
She also provided us with archaeology themed cookies to accent our tea bar, and those were fabulous as well. We couldn't have asked for a better treat!
And, to top it all off, Vanessa's cakes are HANDS DOWN the best cakes we have ever had. The unique and expertly crafted flavors are so yummy and moist. I could quite literally eat her cakes (and cookies) for the rest of my life and be so happy doing it. Her frostings are so flavorful and rich, but you won't ever feel overladen with sugar and sweetness.

What a positive experience working with Vanessa! And the desserts she made for my daughter's wedding - DELICIOUS! We met for a tasting, where she guided us through the planning, asked questions in order to understand my daughter's vision of her wedding day, and from there, created a beautiful dessert table. Our wedding cake was a delicious work of art! We couldn't have been happier with how it came out! Vanessa was a pleasure to work with from the start. She was warm and welcoming when we met her at our tasting and seemed so excited about our wedding cake vision. I asked Vanessa last minute if she could make a naked Carrot cake for my daughters Oct. 1 wedding and deliver it. We had booked a baker back in May but she could not deliver it!! We would have had to drive 90 minutes with a wedding cake in our car! We cancelled her and Vsnessa could not have been nicer. The Chocolate Rose came highly recommended to me by the Popponeseset Inn, and what a great recommendation it was! We began planning our Cape Cod wedding from half way across the country, which was not an easy task, and Vanessa immediately put us at ease. She was informative, helpful, and extremely kind. We were impressed with her experience and knowledge in the "industry." Vanessa is not just a baker. She is truly an artist who helped create a gorgeous, unique, and tasty cake that exceeded our expectations. She has creative ideas and was beautifully skilled at her craft. Our cake was three tiered and each layer was something different and deliciously exciting. Guests were raving about all the different flavors and enjoyed sampling each kind. She even made a yummy gluten free cake for guests who had a GF allergy. She was really able to showcase her versatile style! We cannot wait to eat our wedding cake all over again on our first anniversary, as Vanessa bakes a fresh cake, free of charge, for us to enjoy in a years time. Our cake from The Chocolate Rose was beautiful!! Vanessa is very nice, and so talented. After our tasting, which was a really fun (and delicious) experience, she mocked up drawings of a few cake options and was really helpful answering all of our questions. Honestly, the cake was bigger and more beautiful than I ever imagined it would be--I was SO impressed when I saw it on my wedding day. We also had Vanessa create a sugar sculpture of our dog to put at the base of the cake, and it was such a cute touch. If you're looking for a custom, creative cake, you can't go wrong here!

We originally had a tasting at a large, well-known catering company that our wedding venue suggested working with but I didn't feel that the product was very tasty or that they really cared if we selected them or not. After googling other options I was lucky enough to find The Chocolate Rose. Our cake tasting with Vanessa was very personalized and you could tell that she really cared about our vision for the wedding cake and especially about the finished product. From day 1 she was incredibly responsive and professional - not to mention the cake was DELICIOUS. I was so happy with the finished product and would highly recommend Vanessa to all of my friends & family planning events down the Cape.

I had been looking forward to our cake since the taste testing. It was as good as I remembered. Vanessa was great to work with and made the cake look just how we wanted it to. It was a great size and bigger than I expected (we had it for 75 people since we got a sheet cake for 50 to provide a different flavor and save money). Even though the contract had the sizes, I was nervous it would be small. We were lucky to even have some left over to take home with us. She also worked with us to provide some cookies to help out with our traditional Pittsburgh Cookie table. Everything came out great.

Wow, we had an all around wonderful experience with The Chocolate Rose Cake Shoppe! The cake tasting was so much fun, and delicious! Vanessa's cake flavors are so unique and tasty, which made it quite difficult to choose! We ended up choosing 2 flavors for our wedding cake and our guests were raving about them!

Vanessa was so great and easy to work with. She truly has a passion for what she does and cares for the happiness of her customers. Our wedding cake was GORGEOUS and we couldn't have been happier.

We love that for our one year anniversary, Vanessa has an option where she gives you a new top layer of your cake, instead of freezing the one from your wedding day. I had a wonderful experience with The Chocolate Rose Cake Shoppe, from the moment we met Vanessa (owner/baker) we felt so comfortable with her. She was a joy to work with. She was accommodating when we asked to taste additional cake flavors (we picked 3 at first and we wanted to taste 3 more after the initial tasting). She worked closely with us to ensure that the flavors, decor, and themes were exactly what we were envisioning for our big day. We ordered 19 dozen cupcakes (5 different flavors) and a smaller 2-tier cake for the cutting ceremony. Vanessa went above and beyond and made us vegan carrot cupcakes for our vegan guests. They were a HUGE hit among the vegans and “meat-eaters” alike! She hadn’t been asked to make vegan cake before, so she baked a few test batches of cake and frosting to ensure that she created a product that she felt happy standing by and serving. Our guests raved about the other flavors too and at the end of the night… there wasn’t a single cupcake left (we had 140 people)! We were so lucky to find Vanessa and so pleased with her cupcakes and the service she provided.

Vanessa consulted with the bride and groom on the wedding cake design. She wanted to understand their style and preferences so the cake would be exactly what they wanted. Vanessa gave us a choice of 4 designs, each in line with our conversations but each with a unique flair. The designs were all beautiful, so it was hard to pick one! Vanessa invited us to a tasting of multiple flavors for the cake. Again, it was hard to choose because all were delicious. Vanessa was flexible and we were able to use different flavors in the different tiers. Working with Vanessa was a pleasure.

Vanessa, owner of chocolate rose is so talented! She made my cake dreams come true! She did both my 4 tier cake (3 different flavored) with fresh flowers as well as cake pop favors for all my guests. People were absolutely raving about the cake pops and even asked me where I got them because they wanted to go and buy some for themselves. She is very flexible, professional, and creative. The quality of her cakes and other confections are top notch. Not only was she a pleasure to work with she far exceeded all my expectations for my dream cake, it was beautiful and delicious! Vanessa did such an amazing job for my wedding! She is so easy to talk to, very responsive, and she has the best prices. I knew I wanted wedding cupcakes but I had no idea how I wanted them to look or how they should be displayed. I didn't know where to start. She asked me questions about the wedding, had me sent pictures of the decor, and then she created 3 beautiful cupcake designs. I needed ALOT of cupcakes. I was using them for favors as well. Vanessa exceeded my expectations. The display was stunning, the cupcakes were perfect, and most importantly, delicious!!! Vanessa also supplied desserts for the rehearsal dinner. Everyone loved them!

On September 20th we celebrated our 1st wedding anniversary. We received our anniversary cake and it was beautiful too! She incorporated the cupcake design on to our anniversary cake. Vanessa did an incredible job on our wedding cake. We showed her a picture of something we liked and she gave us exactly what we wanted and more. Vanessa was awesome and the cupcake "cake" and cutting cake were fabulous. She designed cupcake toppers to match the theme of the wedding and they were really creative. She also provided rustic boxes to stack the cupcakes into a tower.
She quite willingly provided two tastings due to out of town bride and groom and was so accommodating.
She is friendly and talented and we would not hesitate to use her again for other occasions.

From the amazing cake testing to the cake designs and my bazillion changes, Vanessa was so easy and accommodating to work with during our wedding planning! I loved that the flavor choices weren't just the typical vanilla and chocolate that have been done over and over again. Our Fireside flavored cake was perfection and worked in perfectly with our S'mores theme. I cannot wait for our 1 year anniversary so we can taste it again! I have recommended Vanessa and The Chocolate Rose to everyone I know because they will not be disappointed!

I have to say that Vanessa did an amazing job with everything I asked for. All of my guests at the wedding raved over the cake and desserts and the quality and way it was displayed was more then I ever thought possible. Vanessa was absolutely fabulous from the beginning! We had cupcakes and then a cutting cake....there was not a single cupcake left and my guest raved about them. Vanessa was easy to work with, yummy cakes and cupcakes, and beautiful design. She also help me with some other decorations I needed...truly went above and beyond. I would highly recommend her!

I used Vanessa for both my bridal shower and wedding. Both cakes were delicious and she really captured the moments, my personality, and style! Not only did the cupcakes look better than I could have imagined! (She matched the frosting to look like the flowers we used for the wedding), they tasted even better! I would definitely use The Chocolate Rose Cake Shoppe in the future for other events and recommend her to all my friends!!

From the start, I knew Vanessa knew her desserts! But would they taste as good as they sounded? BETTER! She made working and planning so easy for us. She paid so much attention to detail and made our dessert table come to life! The traffic jam in front of her table all night speaks for itself! When my first cake baker stopped responding to my emails in a timely manner, I started freaking out because the wedding was within a few months. I started looking around and getting estimates and I was worried my cake was going to end up coming in sheet form from somewhere like BJs! But then I found Vanessa's business card on my desk. I called her with some details, we set up a meeting/tasting and we got the process rolling. She proved me wrong at every turn especially with the flavors that we knew to be kinda dry! About 2 months before I was still able to add on a groom's cake for the rehearsal dinner and my total contract price stayed reasonable the whole time. We ended up with the most beautiful and most delicious wedding cake ever that our friends and family are still raving about! The best part about our contract is that instead of having the top tier frozen for our anniversary, included in the price is a new top tier instead! All we have to do is call a few weeks before. No stale, thawed cake for us!

We absolutely couldn't tell our cupcakes were gluten-free, and neither could our guests! Our cupcakes had stars, moons, and planets on them, and the colors were fantastic.

We had such a great experience with The Chocolate Rose. She has so many cake flavors and we got to taste whichever ones we wanted and the sample size was huge! And we got to keep the leftovers! All of the favors were absolutely delicious. She created a beautiful wedding cake for our wedding. I will definitely contact The Chocolate Rose for any of our cake or bakery needs in the future.
