Delicious and good looking cake

We hired The Cake Stand after my sister-in-law used them for her wedding specifically because I loved the cake at their wedding. They did a small cutting cake and cupcakes for our wedding in April as well as a Groom's cake for our rehearsal dinner. The wedding cake was absolutely beautiful and we had so many guests tell us how delicious the cupcakes were. Our groom's cake was above and beyond-- I described the three components I wanted included, and they took creative liberty and it DID NOT disappoint! It was a hot topic the rest of the wedding!

Beautiful and Delicious

Thank you Lauren for being so flexible on my vision! She created a beautiful cake on a shore timeline during a very busy season. She delivered it with a gorgeous cake stand too!

The flavor was white cake with raspberry and the icing was SO good!! We also had a Carolina Gamecocks grooms cake that was a huge hit!!

Delicious, Affordable, Stunning

The Cake Stand was an amazing experience from the very beginning. Lauren was so accommodating with any and all requests we had. All of our guests thought our cake was more than delicious and our cake was beautiful! She is very affordable and runs an extremely genuine business. Would highly recommend!

Wonderful experience

I can't say enough good things about The Cake Stand. Lauren was GREAT!!!! The cake was delicious. Usually wedding cakes are dry and aren't very tasty but their cakes are so good! They are moist, are full if flavor and the icing is to die for. I gave her a picture of a cake and really didn't know how close she could come to the original, but in my eyes she did better!! I would recommend The Cake Stand to everyone!! I have posted a picture of the original pic I sent them vs the one they made.

Amazing wedding cakes!

Beautiful and delicious cake!

We used the Cake Stand for our wedding cake and cupcakes and they were delicious! We received a tasting box to pick our flavors. The design was exactly what we wanted and delivery was on time. We ended up having to change our date due to Covid and Lauren was extremely accommodating. Overall amazing cake and great experience!

Delicious AND Beautiful Cake

Lauren made such a delicious cake for our wedding! She was so great leading up to the day working with us to pick up a tasting box and making sure the look was exactly what we wanted. Not only did the cake look beautiful, but everyone could not stop talking about how delicious it was. We could not recommend the Cake Stand Charleston more for your wedding!

AMAZING CAKE!!! Will be ordering future cakes from here (and we’re not even big dessert people)

Hire The Cakestand for your wedding and other events! Lauren was affordable compared to a lot of other bakers, so easy to work with, and was flexible with us having to reschedule our wedding and number of guests due to COVID-19. My fiancé and I had a fun time at our tasting and we selected carrot cake, lemon and red velvet for our three tiers. Each was amazing and several guests commented on how good and all of the cakes tasted. Our family even had some extra slices saved for the next day and they were still very moist and tasted just as fresh. My fiancé and I are not big dessert people, and we even raved about the cake. I’m already looking forward to another special occasion so we have an excuse to get another cake from Lauren!

Crowd Pleasing Wedding Cupcakes

Working with Lauren on the dessert for our wedding was super simple - and delicious! We started out with a customized tasting box of her delicious cupcakes and narrowing it down to only a few flavors was one of the hardest parts of planning our wedding! Lauren was great about letting us customize our flavors (and select as many as we needed!) When it came time to design our cutting cake she was just as helpful when it came to design ideas. Both the cake and cupcakes were delicious - we ordered 150 for 70 guests and hardly had any leftover! Our cake was also delicious - even at our one month anniversary when we celebrated with a slice. I would highly recommend The Cake Stand to any Charleston couple!

Gorgeous and delicious cake!

We went through several other cake people before we found The Cake Stand, and I’m so glad the other people fell through. Lauren really understood what we wanted and delivered a GORGEOUS cake! It was so pretty that our guests thought it was fake! We even have a mini cake that they wrapped separately for us to eat on our one year anniversary.

Delicious and perfect

Extremely reasonable pricing. Most affordable I could find. It got to a point where we almost had to use publix and this was our last stop before I gave up. She quoted us 1/3 of what most cake people in Charleston charge. She was pretty responsive during the week. I even used her for my Grandmas 80th birthday party. That was also very reasonable.

My Wedding Cake was PERFECT!!!

The Cake Stand offers the most affordable and highest quality cakes around! They were a dream to work with and took all of the guesswork out of making our cake perfect for our special day. Not to mention, the cake was so delicious!! I highly recommend!!

More than I imagined.

When my guests saw the cake designed by THE CAKE STAND they knew that I had an artist create the centerpiece of the day. I had called a number of designers and the price was either way out of my range or they didn't seem like they had enough time for me. There was absolutely no stress with THE CAKE STAND and I knew the cake would look amazing and taste remarkable. May I say that my guests remember the cake most of all. I do too. Thanks Lauren for giving me more than imagined.

To sum it up, one of our guests (who is the editor of a major metropolitan bridal magazine, and thus has sampled lots of wedding cake) said the chocolate cake was the best cake she ever had! We really enjoyed working with Lauren and her husband. Lauren worked with us for our budget and delivered a beautiful and delicious product!

We selected The Cake Stand after sampling several vendors in the Charleston area. Lauren's cakes were by far our favorites! She did a fantastic job of recommending cake/frosting/filling combinations and delivered a cake that was absolutely beautiful and delicious!

Wowza.
Lauren was extremely responsive, and allowed us to sample her wedding cupcakes before we decided to do one small cake and three kinds of mini cupcakes. She worked with our wedding coordinator to deliver to our venue. Holy cow the cake was gorgeous, and EXACTLY like we requested.

The Cake Stand did a wonderful job with our cupcake tower! I met with Lauren and explained what I envisioned, and she brought it to life. The communication was easy and the delivery and set up were seamless. And the cupcakes in 3 different flavors were delicious! And everything was very reasonably priced.

We wanted a Citadel themed cake for our son's rehearsal dinner on April 1, 2016. We live 4 hours from Charleston and did a lot of correspondence with Lauren via phone and email. Lauren was also flexible in working with our schedule on the short weekend planning trips we made to Charleston. We were able to share our ideas and she took the creative reins and created a beautiful grooms cake to serve approximately 80 people. Our son loved it! There were SO MANY compliments on the cake for both design and taste! Although we did taste a variety of flavor combinations (and all were delicious) we had to select our son's favorites - chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. We are so glad we chose The Cake Stand!

I met with Lauren at The Cake Stand to taste test and pick out a wedding cake. She was very helpful in going over every available flavor and also some design ideas that would match my theme. Lauren was a pleasure to work with! I do not live in Charleston so I could only communicate with her via email and phone. She was so quick to respond to any questions I had and made a few suggestions for me in regards to the icing color. My guests RAVED about the cupcakes!

Lauren at the Cakestand helped with our wedding and grooms cake. I sent her a few pictures of what we were thinking about and she nailed the design for both cakes, we were very pleased with the outcome - not to mention they were delicious :) Prices were very reasonable as well.

I had a faux beach themed cake with the top being real and two large sheet cakes for the guests. The owners were amazing, flexible and had great quality cakes. I was sad that the resort never even boxed up the remaining cake for us but the guests that did have it said it was amazing. The faux cake was beautiful. I will definitely use them again!

The Cake Stand provided a small round wedding cake and cupcakes for my April beach wedding. I gave them very little detail on how to decorate the cake but I couldn't have been more pleased with how it turned out. My guests are still talking about how delicious the cupcakes were. The owner and her husband were very responsive and easy to work with. Highly recommend!

A Simply Special Occasion coordinated a wedding in Charleston, and worked closely with Lauren at The Cake Stand. Lauren has always done a fantastic job. Lauren with The Cake Stand was fantastic! We were planning a Charleston wedding from out of town. During one of our "planning visits" to SC, we called and requested a tasting. Some bakeries require several forms be filled out and much advance notice. Lauren was able to work with our tight schedule and provided a free tasting with very little notice; the process was painless (which says a lot considering how difficult and stressful long distance wedding planning can be).

We are quite particular when we have a certain vision in mind. During the planning stages, my husband and I put together a powerpoint presentation of our dream wedding cake. The powerpoint wasn't pretty and wasn't perfect; but our wedding cake certainly was!!! From chunky, pieced together photos of different cakes, floral additions and icing designs, Lauren brought our vision to life and did so better than we could have imaged! It photographed lovely and tasted as good as it looked!

Great value, simple process, professional & friendly service and a lovely end product....couldn't ask for more than that!! We'd use and recommend The Cake Stand again for any event!!

Lauren and her husband were wonderful to work with! Not only do they have the best tasting cakes in Charleston, they also give you some things that most cake vendors won't. We had 2 separate cake tasting boxes made for us at no charge, and they give you a separate cake for your 1 year anniversary rather than using one of the layers from your wedding cake. I could not have been happier with how our cake turned out, and all our guests enjoyed it! Highly recommend!

This was my favorite vendor I worked with during the wedding process. Our tasting with Lauren was very pleasant and filled with tons of samples. The cake the day of tasted amazing. Our guests raved about the coconut cake and the carrot cake. On top of that, the price for the cake was great. Thank you!

This bakery was the third one I contacted to make a 'Madhatter' cake for my son's wedding. They were what I would expect of a quality business. The cake was beautiful, and most importantly, delicious. I definitely recommend them!

I still crave my cake at least once a week. We ordered a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream filling and red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. It was seriously the best cake that I have EVER tasted, and my guests went on and on about how it was the best wedding cake they had as well. The cake also looked exactly like I requested...it was beautiful. A Cake Stand was very responsive. They got back to me quickly with their recommendations and called the day before to confirm my pick-up time. The company was professional and the results were delicious. They exceeded my high expectations. I'd recommend them for any occasion!

The Cake Stand made the most wonderful cake and cupcakes for our wedding!! We had a 6 inch cake for cutting that was so beautiful that I felt bad cutting into it! The wedding planners even took a picture. The cupcakes we served to our guests were so delicious and they told us all night long! They made it easy for serving since we were outside for dancing. Lauren was great through the whole process and was wonderful to work with!

Lauren was a great person to work with, she was very patient with our choice. The cake turned out to be even better than we tasted it, and was decorated perfectly. Lauren and Will, owners of The Cake Stand, were there from the beginning of our planning the wedding reception to several days after. They were always available to answer all questions, provide feedback and provide us with great suggestions of which we implemented virtually all of them. When guests entered the reception ballroom all we could hear were the oohs and awes directed towards the beautiful cake and table decorations. They provided us with an outstanding reception centerpiece and, equally important, an extremely delicious cake!

We ordered 4 different types of cupcakes and one round cake for the bride/groom to cut. The cakes were amazing and the presentation just as nice! Try the coconut cake.... it was our favorite.

The Cake Stand is incredible!! I'm usually not a fan of wedding cake, but Lauren did an amazing job at creating exactly what we were looking for and the taste was amazing . We had a 3 tier cake with different flavors at each layer. I was looking for a simple design finished with flowers that coordinated with our reception center pieces. We chose carrot, red velvet, and vanilla for the flavors and I have heard nothing but rave reviews on how good it was. My husband and I would have to agree with our guests....it was delicious! Since we live out of state, The Cake Stand sent us home with several different cupcakes to sample to help us make our final decision. Lauren and I communicated mainly through email, and she was always accommodating. I was able to send pictures of what I envisioned, and they created exactly what we wanted. The Cake Stand is a great value and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

I cannot explain how wonderful Lauren was to work with as I was coming from out of state. She accomodated me when she was open so that we could taste her cakes - which were wonderful. The cake was not only one of the best cakes we've ever had, but was decorated perfectly for us. Excellent cake and excellent service.

I would have to start by saying our cakes were delicious. Everyone at the wedding was commenting on how much they loved both of them! I surprised my hubby with a grooms cake that was chocolate on chocolate - our favorite, and the wedding cake was lemon and almond with italian buttercream with cream cheese filling! so yummy. We had a two tiered cake and cupcakes and we have say Lauren did an excellent job!!! The tiered cake was so cute and swirl works were so detailed. The cupcakes had the rose swirl piping and the cut out fondant in hearts, flowers and butterflies, exactly as we asked for.

Not only was the cake absolutely delicious, but Lauren was a pleasure to work with! She was responsive, organized and efficient. Our wedding cake was SO amazing! I sent Lauren a picture of what I was thinking, and on the wedding day, it was absolutely PERFECT! I also cannot rave enough about the taste. After my husband and I fed each other during the toast, we both just started feeding ourselves without realizing it, because it was THAT good. They also make you a small cake in the style of your wedding cake for you to keep for your 1-year anniversary. That way you don't have to save the top tier!

We chose The Cake Stand because they were the only ones that were willing to give us samples (because of our small wedding party). Other cake places did not offer samples to less than 50 guests...so we gave the Cake Stand a try. Wow were we impressed. The cupcakes they offered were really good and we had a hard time deciding. They are very good at communicating through email - being that we are 6 hours away, this was very helpful! We ended up getting two sample boxes and chose the carrot cake and vanilla. The cake was so moist and delicious. So many people made comments about how it was the best wedding cake they ever had. I will have to agree!

We planned our wedding in Charleston from Tennessee and had to take a lot of things on faith. Our cake was one of those things that really mattered to me, but I was not able to do a tasting prior to the event so we chose blindly, banking on all of the wonderful reviews.

We did not regret our choice!

I had no idea what I wanted the cake to look like other than the colors and Lauren was able to capture the theme of our event in a very lovely cake. The only thing I was slightly disappointed about was that the cake was still cold when we cut it, but our ceremony and reception was early in the day so it didn't have much time to come to room temperature. We didn't intend to take any cake with us, but after having some at the reception we had to keep the top layer for leftovers, which tasted great the next morning with coffee in our hotel room (hehe!)

This is a family owned business and they are so great! Easy to work with, beautiful designs, and the most delicious cake I have ever had. I'm not even kidding. This cake was so phenomenal. We ate it when we got to our room that night, after breakfast, and my husband and I even decided that we couldn't wait a year to eat the top. We ate it a few days later and will ask The Cake Stand to bake us a brand new one for our 1 year anniversary. Phenomenal!

Choosing my wedding cake was very important to me. I wanted a beautiful and tasty cake. Lauren at The Cake Stand was amazing! She was very thorough when going over the details of the cake and its design.
She was easy to work with and gave me her professional opinion, which I took. After all, she is the expert.

When I saw my cake for the first time at the reception I was amazed and so very happy. It was exactly what I wanted!I was smiling from ear-to-ear. All my guests were commenting on the cake ( heart-themed.)
The cake was a four tiered cake - almond w/ fresh berries and hummingbird w/ cream cheese filling. The cake was moist and flavorful. We saved the top tier for our anniversary and can't wait to taste it again.

Thank you Lauren for being so amazing. You made my day special thanks to your great talent. I would recommend the cake stand to future brides in a heart beat.

everyone loved our cupcakes (we didn't even get to try our red velvet on our wedding night, everyone ate them all!), my favorite were the almond cupcakes with italian buttercream frosting. Our cake was alternating layers of almond and lemon with cream cheese frosting and it was to die for! The decorations on the cake were perfect, the colors were perfectly matched with our requested paint chip colors, and the delivery was prompt, professional, and flexible to our needs (we didn't rent a cake stand, we had them all kept in the back of the house and our caterers displayed them). Delivery charges were waived as being part of Downtown Charleston. I would definitely recommend Cakestand again. They were a FAR better deal price-wise over their competitors (Ashley Bakery being one). Our total was around $580 total, vs. Ashley which quoted over $1,000! This was for (I think, if I can recall) 120 cupcakes and 2- 8 inch rounds (one strictly for anniversaries and the other for cutting). Lauren Robertson, the owner, was so quick with her responses and was very sweet with any interactions we had. Very accommodating, understanding, and not business-y at all (didn't hassle me and bark at me with the deposit, was very pleasant). LOVE the cake stand!

I had a friend recommend The Cake Stand to me and I am so glad that I chose them! My husband (then fiance) was not able to go to a tasting with me at the shop, so they sent me home with a box full of cupcakes to try. They were all SO wonderful! We had a hard time deciding, but we both love red velvet, so ending up choosing an all red velvet cake. We received so many compliments that night and still have people tell us how wonderful the cake was. They did a wonderful job designing the cake exactly as I wanted. They were very flexible with me as I changed my mind on things and they helped me make some decisions when I couldn't. I found the price to be very reasonable, especially in a place like Charleston. I planned a small destination wedding in Charleston, SC. I decided on my wedding date with only four months to plan, with my wedding being on New Year's Eve. I contacted The Cake Stand not until 2 1/2 months before my wedding to request my cake. Granted, I was having a smaller wedding, but she was very willing to work with my last minute request especially during the holidays. She was very easy to work with on the look and design of my cake. Since I did not live in town I was not able to do a tasting and put my full trust in to her reviews online. Boy, did I make a good choice! The cake was amazing and so delicious. All my guest raved about the cake! I had two guests that are not really into sweets and cake. Both them said that when they were served the cake they just decided to take a quick bite, and then once they tasted that cake they couldn't put their fork down. Also, when I first walked into my venue room the cake caught my eye and I was so happy with the quality of her work and design. Another point I would like to add is since I was having a smaller cake and it was the holidays I offered to pick up the cake to help. She said that would be fine. At last minute my wedding day became hectic and she offered to deliver the cake. She really saved my day and I was so grateful for the flexibility. What a true professional!!! I would highly recommend The Cake Stand! I am still having dreams about that cake!

I worked with the cake stand for our wedding cake 2 years ago! They did the most incredible job. Last year, we were on our honeymoon and didn't get to do the traditional "eat the top of your cake" so we decided to save it for our second anniversary which was yesterday. I pulled it out of the freezer sure it would be freezer burnt and disgusting after 2 years. I couldn't have been more wrong. The cake tasted AMAZING! Still! After 2 years! The Cake Stand made both our wedding cake and our grooms cake. I could not be happier with either one. The flavors were amazing, and my guests were raving for days over how awesome the carrot cake is. Lauren and Will do a great job and you will not be disappointed if you choose them. For the bride on a budget, their basic cake rivals publix prices but when you add on extras it starts to add up. It is still worth every penny. The best advice I got when trying to determine my budget was your guests remember 3 things at your wedding: the food, the music and the cake. Your cute little favors that you spent 200 bucks on and 20 hours assembling will be left in the baskets... forget the favors and spend the extra on something your guests care about. Go with The Cake Stand!

Lauren was wonderful! My husband and I met her at a Starbucks between our houses to do a cake testing. She brought probably 6 different flavors of cake with different types of icing as well. She explained to us what we could do and gave us an honest break down of what the cost would be and there were no secret fees in there. The cake was 3 different flavors for the 3 different levels and our guests loved our cake and commented how beautiful it was. Lauren coordinated with our florist for the cake topper of roses.

Our year anniversary is in 12 days, and Lauren will make you a fresh "cake top" to eat on your one year anniversary so you don't have to freeze your initial cake top!!! WONDERFUL IDEA! I would highly recommend Lauren's business to anyone!

We used Charleston Flower market for our wedding cake. We went with a three layer cake, all 3 different flavors (strawberry cake with strawberry glaze, chocolate cake with raspberry glaze, red velvet cake w cream cheese frosting, with cream cheese frosting used and not buttercream overall) The cake tasted great and it was beautifully done. We ultimately chose her because of her price point and the actual taste of the cake, which was so good. We were happy with our choice!

Our guests raved about our cupcakes

It took a bit for Lauren and I to connect, but once we did it was smooth sailing. The Cake Stand's prices are awesome but the taste of their cakes are even better. Lauren was so helpful with planning everything and organizing our tasting since we were from out of town. Our cake and cupcakes were delicious (guests loved them!) and they looked great too. The Cake Stand did a great job for our backyard wedding this past October. We decided we wanted one small cake so we could doing the official cake cutting but everything else would be cupcakes, which was more in keeping with our “help yourselves” backyard bbq feel we were going for.
We were able to choose how many types of cake we wanted and which frostings for each type of cake and they were all delicious! They also had a huge cupcake stand that we rented for a very reasonable price to display all of the delicious cupcakes. They delivered and setup everything on the morning before the wedding. Overall we were very happy with the Cake Stand!

Lauren at the Cake Stand was recommended to me by my sister (she hired the Cake Stand to do her wedding cake a few years ago). Despite knowing that my sister's cake was DELICIOUS and GORGEOUS, I still did one other tasting with another vendor. Once I met with Lauren, the deal was sealed. She is professional, laid back and calm, and imaginative. Her goal is to take designs you like and to come up with something new and amazing for your cake. I was truly blown away when I saw the cake at our reception...she totally nailed what I had in mind and the cake was soooo tasty in addition to being gorgeous. I am so happy to have worked with Lauren and have already recommended the Cake Stand to other friends getting married in Charleston!

Lauren and Will are great!!
We did cupcakes for our wedding, with a small cutting cake. They did 5 different flavors for us and they were delicious!! The value is unreal- their prices are great for the quality!! They were great to work with and gave us exactly what we asked for. Lauren helped me come to some design decisions when I wasn't quite sure what I wanted. I love supporting such an amazing family business. They were great!

The Cake Stand provided us with cupcakes and a top tier mini cake for our wedding. From the start Lauren was very responsive and helpful with all of our questions. I must admit I was not wowed when we picked up the sample box to taste at home since we were not able to make it in for a tasting. I think we probably should have let the samples come to room temperature more. The mini cake at our wedding tasted great though. I didn't get to try a cupcake the day of but the next day, I indulged on plenty. Even a day old, the cupcakes tasted fantastic. We had a few leftovers that we froze and those still taste great too.

The Cake Stand created a custom cake for our wedding! They were able to take our vision and make our cake come to life, even better than I imagined!! Our cake resembled my dress perfectly!! They also created cupcakes to go along with our beautiful cake! Their flavors were so delicious! Their Coconut cake is amazing, a must try!! Thank you so much for creating a wonderful wedding cake for us!!

Lauren, at The Cake Stand, delivered exactly what my daughter wanted. The cake was beautiful and it was delicious! She is so easy to work with and is open to any design that you may want. She has such a gift in decorating and baking. If you want a cake that tastes as good as it looks you must choose THE CAKE STAND. You will not be disappointed!

We had our wedding cake baked and designed by the cake stand on Folly Beach. The cake came out great and they had very fair prices. They even let us drop off and use our own cake stand; while a lot of other places were requiring you rent one from them for an additional fee. Our guests loved the cake and it was very moist and enjoyable. Highly recommend checking out their services for your next big event!

Our wedding cake looked exactly how we had imagined it...only more perfect! However, there was disappointment to follow. We had been promised told that their cakes were never frozen, but several of our guests told us they had pieces of cake that were still frozen when they were thawed. Also, we were told the sheet cakes would have 4 thin layers of cake with the filling between to mimic the real wedding cake so guests would not notice the difference. Once it was sliced it was 2 very think cake layers and was incredibly dry as a result. A huge disappointment since I had been telling everyone how delicious our lemon cake was going to be.

The cake wasn't 100% what I had ordered, a few details were amiss, but it was a delicious and beautiful, simple cake and I am overall quite happy with the experience. Lauren was professional and the tasting box she prepared was very convenient. This is a very small bakery, run just by a couple, and came highly recommended by my location sales manager and I wasn't disappointed. Many thanks for a lovely cake!

I ordered cupcakes for my wedding. They were deliciously made and met my standards for my wedding. The reason I rated their responsiveness and professionalism low is because I had a destination wedding and relied on emails and phone calls to finalize details. Lauren was great at responding to my emails but not so much the phone calls. When I did go into the store, twice, once to pick up a to go box and then to drop off my cup cake wrappers, I felt very rushed and was not even greeted properly. I was not even invited into the shop the second time, she made me wait outside. She was not personable. Lastly, the day of my wedding, my wedding planner had already tried to get in contact with her to schedule delivery and Lauren never got back to her. To make matters worse, they delivered my cupcakes to the wrong venue and showed up to deliver my cupcakes minutes before my reception began. After the wedding, I had at least 5 voice-mails from Lauren confused about my venue (even though I sent her my contract months earlier) and why would she call me on my wedding day knowing I would be unavailable. She had the wedding planners information but never called her. I will not recommend this shop and nor will I do business with them again.

Lauren made a beautiful wedding cake. Our biggest issue, we were planning a wedding from a different city/state and we had one weekend to meet up and taste samples to choose the flavors for our 3 tier cake. She offered to drop them at our hotel but, she called last minute to say she wouldn't be able to make it. On the day of the wedding, the cake was delivered on time and very pretty, but, it was dry.
