Best wedding experience ever!

The level of execution was phenomenal, and so professional. Our entire family and guest list were impressed and could not stop raving about the night. We received endless compliments on the venue, service, food and drinks. It was truly the best day of our lives!

Sydney and Schuyler made the entire planning process so easy and enjoyable. Our vision was brought to life and made even better than what we could’ve imagined!

Most importantly, their care and attention to us resulted in a stress free event from start to finish. Highly highly recommend to any couple and worth every penny.

An absolute dream

Having our wedding at the BPL was an absolute dream. It is such a stunning, unique, and memorable venue. The Catered Affair is truly top-notch in all respects. Working with them was easy from start to finish.

Our coordinator, Bryanne, was amazing. She was easy to communicate with and you can tell that she has everything under control. I did not have a planner, but did not feel stressed about it because Bryanne is THAT good. She and Schuyler made sure that our wedding day ran smoothly and I did not have to worry about a single thing!

The food is also amazing (we got lots of rave reviews from guests) and the service on wedding night was also remarkable. All dishes were served hot and simultaneously to each guest at a given table. Guests with allergies said that servers were aware and extremely thoughtful. TCA is a well-oiled machine in creating a seamless and luxury environment through their excellent service.

BPL is certainly an expensive venue, but if it is within budget, I could not recommend it more. We heard from many guests that it was one of the best and most memorable weddings they've ever been to.

Historic meets ultimate elegance - A review from a wedding photographer

As a wedding photographer, I see lots of crazy things. The good ones are memorable and heartwarming; the bad can be embarrassing and cringe-worthy. But what really gets me excited is when people give their all--whether its a wedding or a corporate event.

As someone who works with couples every weekend on intimate occasions like marriage ceremonies there's nothing more satisfying than knowing that the venue team is amazing. I've photographed at Boston Public Library dozens of times and love it here. I know it's not conventional for photographers to write reviews like this, but I wanted couples to know that there's so much you don't see behind the scenes. BPL's coordinators are always cheering you on, putting out fires that you'll never know about, and always have your best interests in mind. They're kind of unsung heroes.

Dream come true!!!

It was the dream wedding I could not have imagined. The combo of BPL and the Catered Affair is the BEST! Everything was so perfectly organized and coordinated, the food, the atmosphere and everything around it (including the vendors recommended by the team) was absolutely AMAZING... Meghan Cook is the best wedding organizer. We are still over the moon with just how perfect everything went.

Wedding Ceremony

My husband and I had our wedding in the Courtyard at BPL! We did the Picnic Package that was made available to couples who had to cancel their original wedding plans due to COVID. And I am so happy this happened!! We got the last time slot on our original day and were able to have our parents, photographer, and videographer attend. Alyssa at The Catered Affair was our contact at the beginning for logistics and food and was super helpful! We had the Mezze lunchboxes and it was delicious. Ken was our day-of contact and was so amazing!! He allowed us to come in a few minutes early to capture the lighting on the Grand Staircase. Without him, we wouldn’t have captured such gorgeous pictures!! He was super responsive, sweet, and helpful. He was in charge of the music and his playlist was perfect. We’re so happy with the staff, venue, and everything in between. Thank you for turning our last minute wedding into one we couldn’t have ever dreamed of. Thank you!

The perfect Boston venue

The Catered Affair team at the BPL team made our September wedding seamless from start to finish. Working with Bryanne, our coordinator, and the entire Catered Affair team really made our wedding day so enjoyable – we didn’t have to stress about anything. Throughout the year-long planning process, Bryanne was incredibly responsive, informative, and professional; she helped us coordinate with each one of our vendors to create the perfect day. Day of, Bryanne and Emily orchestrated a completely seamless day from the photos prior to our ceremony through the very end of our reception. My favorite part of working with The Catered Affair was the breadth and depth of their knowledge around wedding planning and their high attention to detail – and the amazing food! I honestly cannot think of a more beautiful place to get married in Boston!

Amazing Venue and Service

I can't say enough about working with the staff at the Boston Public Library and the Catered Affair. They were always prompt in answering my questions, flexible during the planning process and ensured a smooth and perfect wedding day. It could not have gone better. In addition, the food was delicious and the venue beyond compare. Our wedding was truly a magical event and the guests were in awe of how lovely everything was. I can't thank Meghan Crump, Samantha and Erin enough. They were amazing. It was complete and utter perfection!

We worked with Catered Affair to plan our dream wedding at the Boston Public Library. From start to finish, the process with met with ease and enjoyment. Our producer (Erin) and the team met with us multiple times to help us plan details. She and the team aided in every decision we made and truly guided us through everything. Not only were they experts in every aspect of wedding planning, but they truly knew how to capture our vision to personalize our wedding and help it meet our dreams. They truly wanted this day to be perfect for us -- and it was.

The day of the wedding was absolutely flawless. We did not have to worry about any detail as the team was on top of everything and, moreover, they executed everything beautifully. We were even wowed by certain aspects of the day that we didn't expect (for example, we are still hearing from our guests about the incredible dinner service). We could rave more about our experience with Catered Affair at the BPL -- if we could do it over again, we would!

I don't know where to begin. The Catered Affair is the most incredible vendor anyone could EVER IMAGINE AND THEN SOME! They just executed the wedding of my absolute dreams this weekend at the Boston Public Library. Bryanne Pepin, my event producer, is beyond amazing... I don't know what I would have ever done without her... from start to finish. The level of professionalism, quality of service, dedication, knowledge, guidance, support, not to mention the classiness, elegance, service, expertise... I could just keep going... NOT TO MENTION THE FOOD! SO INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS... NONE OF MY GUESTS HAVE STOPPED TALKING ABOUT IT! Every guest at this wedding was blown away and for good reason. I credit it ALL to the Catered Affair and particularly Bryanne. I live in NYC and am actually not sure how I will ever throw an event using anyone but them because they are that incredible. Catered Affair, can you move to NYC too?! Best there is.

My daughter and her husband enjoyed a flawless wedding celebration at the Boston Public Library.. So many guests complimented us on the reception and made reference to the high level of service by The Catered Affair. The whole team was phenomenal!

It was a pleasure to work with Faith Larsen! She was a steadying, calm presence during the entire planning effort (even when we weren’t so calm)—this is invaluable for anyone planning a wedding. She accommodated our requests for changes and gave us sound advice throughout the entire process. She served as our wedding planner extraordinaire (at a time when we really needed one) without blinking an eye. Faith kept all our details straight (amazing!), coordinated the vendors, created a detailed timeline, and handled all the details of our reception gracefully and with aplomb.

If you want a unique, beautiful venue with a caterer extraordinaire, I cannot thing of a more special place than the Boston Public Library! It was like being in a fairy tale!!!

An absolutely seamless day thanks to Erin Davies and Amanda Gallagher. My husband and I are still on cloud 9 after a night that we will never forget. They put us at ease throughout the entire planning process and ensured a seamless execution the day of. As an industry professional it is very difficult for me to let go of tasks and responsibilities during an event but I had no doubt the entire da/night that we were in good hands and staying on time etc. Alejandra was so sweet and constantly made sure that both Zach and myself were fed and drinking water before and after the ceremony. Their calm and professional demeanor was such a relief to us and they truly made our entire family feel so special throughout the entire day. They were extremely responsive throughout the process and very thorough and communicative. We highly recommend the venue and the The Catered Affair.

My husband and I had such an amazing experience working with The Catered Affair at the Boston Public Library. Bryanne and Dakota, along with their entire team, were outstanding both in the lead up to and the night of our wedding. Our guests were blown away by the beauty of the space, the professionalism of the staff, and the quality of the food. Bryanne also referred us to a DJ who turned out to be an amazingly perfect fit. No detail was missed -- they even busted out a sewing kit to fix a tuxedo in the middle of the reception -- and every expectation was exceeded.

Our entire wedding planning experience was seamless and easy thanks to Eliza and her team at the catered affair. The BPL is an amazing venue for a wedding, we received so many compliments from our guests. Everything from the ceremony to cocktail hour to the reception went exactly according to plan thanks to the organization and skills of Eliza and her team. My husband and I were able to enjoy our own wedding to the fullest. From start to finish, the Catered Affair team was wonderfully helpful. At no point in time were we even remotely stressed during the planning process, which is a feat in its own right considering my mother-in-law. This is largely in part to how prompt and professional Bryanne, Dakota, and Paige were at all times. Their knowledge was unmatched, and every decision required of us was easily made due to being well informed by the team. I can not speak enough to how great they were during this process, but I can absolutely recommend them to any couple looking for a Boston wedding venue. The Public Library is a gorgeous venue, and is arguably the most beautiful place to get married in Boston. Lastly, the food was incredible. I've been fortunate enough to have dined at Michelin restaurants across the globe, and the food provided by the Catered Affair could hang with the best of it, both in flavor and presentation. Our guests were entirely blown away. These factors considered, I cannot recommend the Catered Affair enough. If you want an incredible experience with no hassle, they are by and large the best option.

Catered Affair and BPL are absolutely amazing! I cannot recommend them enough. BPL itself is so beautiful and such a romantic unique and historic venue to have a wedding. Perfect for out of town guests and for locals. Catered Affair was absolutely phenomenal. Very professional and very prompt about replying to any and all of my many questions. They think of everything and are very accommodating. There are so many little things involved in planning that I would never have realized except with their help and have heard nothing but rave reviews from my guests regarding deliciousness of food, professionalism of waitstaff, and unbelievably well organized. My event organizer Bryanne was absolutely amazing, going above and beyond by calling all the vendors involved and making sure everything was as it should be and her enthusiasm cannot be beat! There was even a bridal attendant day of who unobtrusively brought my groom and I drinks and food throughout the night. It was such a wonderful night and I cannot wait to look at the pictures in years to come.

Don’t know how we could have gotten through all the planning and decisions and organizing and agonizing in preparation for our daughter’s wedding without the expertise services of Erin Davis and her team at the Catered Affair at the BPL. They took us through every step with thorough competence and a warm manner. Together with our daughter, we want to thank this crew for quickly answering our queries as if we were the only ones that mattered and for making the days up to and including the wedding a dream come true. Guests commented that they’d been to a lot of classic weddings but this one topped them all………..we think so and are so grateful we chose this venue and TCA. It was perfection!

We booked the Catered Affair and Boston Public Library two years out from our wedding, and received nothing but wonderful advice and suggestions throughout the process! From the initial walk through, to the tasting to the design meetings, Faith and Erica were wonderful help along the way. They were invaluable in answering some of our more confusing questions. The team was also key in coordinating with many of our vendors, and acted as the point person for some of the more technical questions leading up to the day of, leaving my fiance and I more time to enjoy the wedding weekend and not worry about logistical questions! The entire venue and evening was absolutely beautiful, and in addition to helping us create our dream event, Catered Affair was able to do some quick readjustments when a May cold snap threatened to derail some of our outdoor activities. I would highly recommend this company and venue for your wedding!!

Our daughter's March wedding at the BPL was a lovely, elegant affair thanks to Bryanne, her staff and TCA. Bryanne is efficient, available, knowledgeable and easy to talk to. She capably handles the many details and quickly responds to all questions that come up in planning a wedding. All our major vendors had experience at the BPL. TCA recommends this and I think it is a good idea. TCA at BPL provides a wedding that is tops. The food was delicious; service impeccable. Of course, the venue is outstanding.

Eliza and her team at The Catered Affair at the BPL are incredible. I can't possibly say enough to convey how important they were to making our wedding day everything that we had hoped for. We live and work in Boston and wanted to stay local for our wedding, having our families (none of whom live here) experience the city at its best. The BPL over-delivered in every way possible. Eliza and team were responsive, organized, gave great advice (and were honest in recommending vendors), met with us throughout our 18 month planning period, and were SO helpful on the day of, from the moment we walked through the door to the time we had to leave. Our guests raved about every aspect of our wedding from the beautiful courtyard set-up for our ceremony, to the quality of the food, to how helpful the TCA/BPL staff were throughout the evening. It was truly the wedding of our dreams and we give so much credit to them for being such true professionals and for executing perfectly. They are amazing at what they do. You can't go wrong at the BPL!

We would absolutely recommend having a wedding at Boston Public Library with the Catered Affair. We were lucky to have Bryanne as our event coordinator and enjoyed working with Dakota and Erica. Bryanne was with us every step of the way and made the planning process as smooth as could be! She was always a phone call or e-mail away and always had an answer to all our questions (even the silly ones!). We loved having our planning meetings with Bryanne so we could design every detail of our special day. The Catered Affair provided a service above and beyond what we ever could have expected for our wedding day. Our guests still talk about the amazing venue, the decor, and the exceptional food. The Catered Affair made our wedding dreams come true. Seriously, the whole event was so immaculate, profession, seamless and classy. I wish everything and every partner I worked with had this outcome. The BPL setting speaks for itself but they still found a way to enhance it and make it feel like another world. Just writing this now gives me goosebumps. If you work with the Catered Affair you must absolutely request Alyssa Nichols as your coordinator or as I call her, your wedding Chief Operations Officer. She was an absolute dream and made so many amazing things happen. I think we were probably one of the larger weddings the BPL has hosted and we were planning it remotely from the west coast so it was a big responsibility and she kept all parties calm and happy, listened very well, helped negotiate discounts, recommended fabulous vendors and partners, and did a lot of real time problem solving. Alyssa even sewed up my bustle at the end of the night (in three stitches only!) so that I could enjoy the after party. Again, the level of professionalism and class this organization carries and instills in their entire staff is exactly what you want for a wedding. Thank you Catered Affair!

From the first time we visited the BPL, it was clear that the venue was gorgeous and The Catered Affair knew exactly what they were doing. We worked with Michele, who guided us through the whole process and handled everything on the BPL side. She was great. Almost everything throughout the planning was very clear - the timeline, what needed to be done, ... - and the BPL listened to any special requests we had. On the day of, we didn’t have to worry about any set-up or organization throughout the night. We were free to focus on enjoying our wedding. (We even had an attendant making sure that we were able to try the food and drinks throughout the night.)

A few downsides: the person contacting the vendors did so without always communicating with us - although this gave us less to worry about, it led to a couple of moments of confusion; and it’s definitely not cheap.

Overall, we are thrilled to have chosen the BPL - a beautiful venue, and TCA has it down to a science.

The Catered Affair at the Boston Public Library was the absolute BEST wedding decision my husband, family and I made for our wedding. We were completely BLOWN AWAY with how flawlessly Michele Ciccarelli executed my vision of what I wanted the atmosphere of our big day to be. We had a relatively non-traditional wedding. The Courtyard, Courtyard Cafe and Map Room Cafe were the perfect setting for this "cocktail party style" wedding. I can honestly say I’ve never been to a wedding like mine and have received countless compliments from family and friends that our wedding was the most unique, beautiful and fun that they'd ever been to. The night came together perfectly. From the Ceremony in the Courtyard to the flow and set up of dinner, dancing, and dessert, everything was fantastic.
From the first meeting with Michele I was sure we were in excellent hands. She helped me with decisions- but didn't push her ideas on me at all. All of the nightmarish stories of planning a wedding that you often hear about were non-existent at the BPL's Catered Affair. Michele is a pro and I would encourage anyone who is thinking of having their wedding at BPL to do so simply because of Michele and her team. We also worked with Erica through the planning and Sydney on the day of the wedding-they were both lovely and helpful.
The food was absolutely fantastic- from passed apps to several dinner stations to the desserts, everything was delicious and there was plenty of food for everyone. You could tell that the chef and his team take great pride in their work. This is NOT your typical run of the mill wedding food- this was fine dining cuisine that just happened to be at a wedding. If food is important to you, have your wedding here, you will NOT be disappointed and neither will your guests. The cocktails and bar staff were excellent also!

The Catered Affair was amazing to work with, especially our primary contact, Eliza Rafferty. She was incredibly responsive and helpful at every step of the way. We got married in February at the BPL, and I am still in awe of what an extraordinary experience it was. We were completely and utterly thrilled with the entire experience, and we are so happy that we chose to marry at the BPL.

The Library itself is unsurpassed in history, beauty, and location, and there are a variety of spaces within the building where you can hold different events during the evening. Our guests loved having the run of the Library and seeing different rooms on different floors. The food was delicious (and we were able to totally customize our menu based on our preferences and, after the very extensive tasting, what flavors we liked. We are still getting compliments on it! The waiter and bartender service was impeccable.

But the most important thing to making our special day so perfect was the staff of the Catered Affair, who went above and beyond in terms of providing the utmost in attention to us. They had an answer for every question, a suggestion for every uncertainty, and a willingness to deal very kindly and pleasantly with a slightly harried bride who was planning her wedding by herself. When we received more snow than Boston ever had in the month leading up to our wedding, the staff went above and beyond to help restructure the different events and the flow of the evening in order to accommodate our unprecedented weather. They are, without exception, the best of the best. Thanks to Alyssa, Eliza, Michele, and the rest of the TCA@BPL personnel who made everything simply magical.

I used The Catered Affair for our wedding at the Boston Public Library one month ago. Eliza and Alyssa were the wedding coordinators assigned to us, which in retrospect was the moment we struck gold. These women epitomize professionalism, they are ARTISTS in their trade. We worked with these ladies from the day we signed the contract, and still corresponding with them today sharing photos and words from the affair.

Our wedding was a month ago and my husband and I are still very much so on cloud nine from the whole entire event thanks to Eliza, Alyssa, and their wonderful staff - when I tell you that the night was beyond our wildest dreams, I mean I had the whole event pictured in my head and each minute exceeded my expectations. Not one stone was left unturned, each time I felt even one inkling of stress, there they were already taking care of it before I could even open my mouth. The photos and stories from guests do all of the talking, this night was truly a fairly tale.

I'd like to draw attention back to Eliza and Alyssa because without these ladies our wedding night would have been a hot mess. Among our 15+ meetings, they took us through the design process, the menu, the flow of the night, the schedule of events, every single wedding party member, as well as connected with each vendor regularly. Now, I certainly could have let go of the reigns and met with them only a few times and they would have planed a wonderful night - BUT I was enthralled by the whole process and wanted to very much so be part of it. They were welcoming (and professional when I was a little too much part of it), and their organization made me feel confident leaving each meeting. Lastly, Eliza and Alyssa's natural intuition really brought the night to life, they attended to every detail (most of which I would have never thought possible) which made my night stress free.

I still relive every detail through the photos and memory - a big THANK YOU to the whole TCA team!!!

I held my wedding reception at the Boston Public Library this past June and absolutely LOVED working with TCA! Erin was an absolute dream to work with and held my hand throughout the entire planning process. Honestly, our meetings became therapeutic for me by the end. Some highlights:

The setting! Anyone who has entered the McKim building at the BPL knows what a dramatic and beautiful setting it is (marble staircases, frescos, columns, cloistered courtyard). After we booked the venue, I had doubts that it might even be *too* formal for what we were interested in, and Erin and I set out on a path to create a warm and intimate evening in a grand venue. We held cocktails in the courtyard, dinner in Bates Hall, and dancing in the sultry Abbey room. I wasn't entirely sure how it would work to eat separately from our dancing venue, since most weddings I've attended were all held in the same location, but Erin was a total pro and reassured me that it actually works *better* than holding everything in the same room so that guests don't have to sit and listen to loud music while they talk! The entire evening flowed smoothly and each transition, from cocktails to dinner to dancing to dessert buffet, was seamless.

The decor was stunning: I was nervous about transforming a library setting into a formal venue for a sit-down dinner, but Erin and her crew really nailed the look that we were going for. My friends and family *still* talk about walking into Bates hall for the first time and how stunned they were to see such a beautiful setting.

The food was out-of-this-world good, not only by "wedding food" standards but for any dinner out that you could imagine. We had our own personal server, responsible only for the bride and groom, who made sure that our glasses were always full and that we actually had a chance to EAT the fabulous food we had planned. What a classy touch!

Can't recommend working with TCA highly enough, and couldn't be happier with the results!

The library was amazing. Staff from the Catered Affair were absolutely unbelievable. The food, the decor, everything. It was a magical experience. Couldn't speak higher of my experience.

I can't even put into words how amazing The Catered Affair at the Boston Public Library is. Their detail and level of service is incomparable to any other wedding venue in Boston. Our event planner Annie was AMAZING. Her attention to detail, flexibility, and focus on personalization made our wedding absolutely perfect. On the day of, our attendant Meghan was an angel sent from heaven. We worried about NOTHING all day. We had food / drink in our hand at all times and never had to walk away from dancing or conversations.

BPL is truely top notch. I would recommend them to anyone who wants to have an extraordinary wedding. Our guests can't stop talking about it...

I cannot say enough about how great the Catered Affair was. We started working with Eliza on our wedding but were transitioned to Annie when she was hired earlier this year. Annie was a total pro! She was pleasant, upbeat and ran our wedding with unbelievable efficiency. I'm pretty high-strung, but was able to completely relax the day of our wedding as I had complete confidence in her to take care of things and execute on everything we had talked about. Her suggestions, recommendations and guidance were priceless.
Food is incredibly important to us and part of why we picked the BPL was because we had been at a TCA event previously and very impressed with the food. We wanted a menu that was a little different than your typical wedding fare and TCA totally delivered. Their food was creative, beautiful and so good. Absolutely everything came out wonderfully. We felt so well taken care of by the staff the entire day. I really don't have a single complaint - fabulous!

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding. Eliza, Alyssa and staff were so attentive during the year of planning our wedding. They made sure that I had nothing to worry about on the day of the wedding, which completely de-stressed me and my groom. The food was so delicious and we received rave reviews from all the guests. There is not one thing I asked of the catered affair that they said they couldn't do. They also took care of our favors (doughnuts - cronuts and chocolate covered candied bacon - highly recommend!) and cake. They spoke with all the outside vendors to make sure everything was timed perfectly, a huge help!
I would recommend the catered affair to anyone who asks and wish I could relive the day over and over again!

Everything from start to finish was amazing. Dealing with Eliza and Alyssa and preparing for my daughter's wedding was so much fun but they were also truly professional. We had our wedding at the Boston Public Library and The Catered Affair was the catering company. We had the absolute BEST experience! The food was absolutely amazing and the staff was extremely professional. It felt like we were dining at a 5 star restaurant. James Hansen was our event coordinator and I couldn't have done any of it without him! He made the planning process enjoyable and not stressful at all. Overall, we were more than thrilled with everything that The Catered Affair did for us and we would highly recommend it.

My Dad Brooks wrote elsewhere about my wedding and gave Kate Nixon five stars, but I thought she did such a good job that I also wanted to offer my vote and recommendation as well. I live across the country and could not manage all aspects of my wedding closely. Kate worked with my parents to create the perfect event without ever making me feel like anything was out of control. All my wishes were respected, and Kate offered great perspective that elevated the experience. The day was more wonderful than my husband and I could have imagined. The food was delicious, and the flowers were gorgeous (and I am particular). Trust Kate.

The Catered Affair did our wedding reception for our daughter and her groom at our home. We knew they had a great reputation, and they surely delivered on same. Our first encounter with them, and perhaps we were fortunate, but their event coordinator, Kate Nixon, was perfect - charming, elegant, and professional. As soon as we met her, my wife knew she did not need a wedding planner. Kate was it. And unlike some catering services where the salesperson is not the one at the final event, Kate was there from beginning to end. And the food. This team is the same team that did a British Tea for the local PBS station when they launched Season 3 of Downton Abby. So we said, "We want that!" And they delivered, going away. All guests raved about the food. And oh yes, this is in the flower review section. They did that too - further raves. And she bailed my wife and daughter out when problems arose when they were dressing for the final event. You can't go wrong with this team. For sure you can't go wrong if Kate Nixon has the ball.

The catered affair is without a doubt the best catering company in the Boston area. James Hansen is a very thorough and patient man :). He helped us with absolutely everything pertaining to our wedding. The team that we worked with on the day was unbelievable. They were all so helpful. Our guests made many comments on the food all seemed to include 'this is the best food i have had at a wedding' in some way. You will not go wrong when working with the whole team. They are all great.

We recently had our wedding at the Boston Public Library. We’ve had SO many guests say it was one of the best weddings they have been to and we think that’s in large part thanks to the beautiful, unparalleled venue that is the BPL and the amazing dedication, commitment, creativity, and organization of the TCA.

Throughout the planning process, we worked very closely with our Event Producer, Karen, as well as Production Assistant, Jessica. Karen was absolutely wonderful throughout – she was incredibly patient, diplomatic, enthusiastic, and organized. She knew exactly the style we were looking for, was wonderfully creative in helping us to achieve that style, and was able to perfectly articulate it to our vendors. She also was honest and patient throughout the more difficult budget conversations; we were confident she was working with us to obtain a number that everyone felt comfortable with. She helped us keep the planning fun and went above and beyond in her responsiveness and availability.

On the day of, Karen, Jessica and their TCA team ran the show and everything was incredibly well organized and flawless. We stayed ahead of schedule all day. Our guests had a phenomenal time and raved about the venue – from cocktail hour in the courtyard to dinner in Bates Hall, drinks on the terrace and dancing in the Abbey Room. The venue was just stunning. Our guests also raved about how delicious the food was. The menu with TCA was expansive and everything was delicious. When TCA didn’t have the specific food or beverages we were looking for, they researched prices and availability for obtaining it. They worked with us to offer extra sides of mac and cheese (the brides favorite food), and a special wine. Our wedding day was as wonderful as it was because of the expertise of Karen, Jessica and the TCA. We felt were able to enjoy every second of the planning and the wedding day because we knew we had their support. We can’t recommend them enough!!

It was an obvious choice for us to hold our wedding at the BPL: we wanted a centrally located historic Boston venue with an option for outdoor space. And we were stoked that we had to use the Catered Affair for planning and catering.

The Catered Affair is a stellar operation. We didn't realize the extent of this until the reception. It would helpful for potential clients to view a "behind the scenes" look of the Catered Affair in action during an event, if you need any convincing to use them. It's unbelievable how efficient, organized, helpful, and client-driven the service is during the event. They knock the execution out of the park!

We really got to know our producer, James, and felt comfortable bouncing ideas off him. We were a bit "hands on" in our approach, driving the design work more than they may be used to. But it never became an issue, as we felt like he was really in it with us, partnering with us to achieve our vision. We loved working with him every step of the way, and his advice and suggestions were always spot-on. He was an amazing professional and someone we could confide in throughout the whole process.

Two small things came out of the planning and execution but don't impact our overall experience: At the end of our reception, we had to decide what to do with items we brought in, like flowers, picture frames, vases, etc. It would have been great to have a heads up about this earlier so we would have been prepared to take away the meaningful items. Also, our final bill ended up towards the high end. Our fault that we didn’t truly understood the drivers of costs when we signed the contract. It might be useful for the Catered Affair to provide photos/lineups of prior events with costs so that clients can understand how their cost might change depending on the decisions they make.

Choosing the BPL allowed us to have the best day of our lives, and we are grateful for the time that James and the entire team put into helping us.

I was scheduled to see five venues on Satuday last November. My first was at 9am at the BPL. Within moments, I told my bridesmaids I was canceling our other appts. It was always a favorite spot of mine when I lived in Boston but, it had been years since I had been inside and I forgot how magical it truly is. We had our ceremony downstairs in the restaurant and our reception upstairs in the hall and abbey.

Yes, it's extremely pricey but, I can honestly say that it was worth every penny. We had a strict budget that got a bit stretched for sure. However, The Catered Affair (James in particular) really helped me pull off my dream and helped me figure out where to spend and where to save.

My now husband and I are so thrilled that we got married there and we love how accessible it is to use whenever we're in town to walk through and reminisce.

Our wedding at the library last month was amazing, and not just because the venue was so exquisite. The staff was incredibly detail-oriented, responsive, professional, and attentive to us and our guests. We were in great hands from inception, as soon as we entered the planning phases over a year ago. While we were heavily involved in this stage, our Event Producer, Erin Davies, was so creative and well-organized that we did not need to be. She allowed us to customize our event while also helping us conceptualize without ever getting overwhelmed. We were aware of all of our options, from a small, elegant wedding in the Map Room downstairs to a large production in the upstairs Bates Room (which we ended up executing). Everyone we encountered, from her coworker Jessica to my bridal attendant Linda and the many waiters and bartenders on staff that evening, exuded professionalism and helped keep the flow of the event moving, and we have heard glowingly positive feedback - especially about the quality of the food and the pace at which it was served - all of which has contributed to our post-wedding bliss. It was an amazing experience, and we are so grateful to the TCA at BPL for its dedication and hard-work.

I can't say enough great things about The Catered Affair. For one, the venue their venue at the Boston Public Library is exquisite, it is absolutely stunning and easily one of the most beautiful spaces in Boston. They were incredibly easy to work with. Eliza was our event producer and she was WONDERFUL. She was so easy to get in touch with, very quick to respond to any questions we had, she never pressured us to get the more expensive options and was very sensitive to our budget. Her advice was amazing and she helped us put together a wedding that was even more beautiful than we could have imagined. We worked with her throughout the whole planning process, and she was also there with us on the wedding day and throughout the ceremony and reception. It was amazing having her there the day of, there was absolutely no need for a day of coordinator, she knew exactly how we wanted everything set up and everything was done perfectly. We didn't have to do a thing, just drop off any personal items we wanted used the week before and they took care of the rest. I can't imagine anyone making a wedding easier and more stress free to plan than it was with them, yet they did not take over or take any of the options away from us, they just executed our plans and decisions perfectly, and gave advice and suggestions along the way. The food was also INCREDIBLE. Everyone raved about how amazing the food was, and many people have told us it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. We had a special attendant assigned to us as the bride and groom to be sure we always had whatever food/drinks/desserts we wanted, which was amazing as so many couples say they hardly got to have any of the food on their wedding day. They went above and beyond what we could have imagined in so many aspects, and the service was amazing. They were incredible and we would recommend they 100% to absolutely anyone!!!!!

Our wedding at the Boston Public Library was everything we hoped for and more. My husband and I feel so lucky to have started our marriage off with such a wonderful celebration, and Erin Davies and the rest of the Catered Affair staff were instrumental in putting it together.

Erin proved to be responsive, reliable, and knowledgeable throughout the planning process. She handled everything we threw at her with aplomb: our long emails full of questions were answered quickly and thoroughly; our various moments of indecision were met with useful and creative suggestions; and our concerns about the wedding day schedule and budget were respected. Her job must be intensely stressful, but she never showed it -- at every meeting, she was cheery and reassuringly competent.

On the day of the wedding, the Catered Affair ran the whole event seamlessly. We had a rainy forecast, and Erin was amazingly accommodating as we went back and forth about whether to use the indoor ceremony location. (We ended up staying with the outdoor plan, and it was fantastic.) The venue is gorgeous by itself (we had our ceremony in the courtyard and our reception in the Popular Reading Room), and the staff did a great job making it even more lovely by setting up our centerpieces and arranging the other decorations. Everything was orchestrated professionally, from the coordination of the processional to the dinner service to the cake cutting.

The food was delicious. Their menu has a huge number of options, and they were even willing to make an off-menu soup for us when we mentioned in one of the meetings that we thought it might be nice. We didn't eat as much at the wedding as we usually do (too excited!), but they sent us home with a bag full of extra hors d'oeuvres and cake, which was a feast the next day.

We have so many happy memories from our wedding, and we're grateful to the Catered Affair for helping to make them!

The Catered Affair team was absolutely phenomenal. Eliza Rafferty, in particular, was the best hostess we could have asked for. She was incredibly responsive and professional, while also being creative and flexible. She was so organized and always kept us on track about what needed to be done by when, while also remaining calm and not making us feel overwhelmed. She guided us through the process in such a supportive way, always knowing when to let us make our own decisions versus when to make suggestions and propose fresh ideas herself. She helped us come up with so many unique touches that made the evening truly magical. She made us so comfortable, and we ALWAYS felt we were in the best of hands. We were also thrilled with the quality of the food and the additional Catered Affair staff. Everything was executed flawlessly. We got so many compliments on both the food and the venue, and Eliza and her team were instrumental in making our wedding everything we hoped it would be. James Hansen was absolutely amazing! I cannot say enough about him and the service he provided. He went above and beyond for us and made our wedding day even more special and personalized than I had dreamed of. While planning, my mother and I found working with James such a pleasure. He was so responsive and understood my vision. If I knew someone who was getting married at the BPL I would tell them that they must must must work with James. The Boston Public Library was the stunning backdrop for the beautiful August wedding of our daughter and son-in-law.

The selections for food were extensive, the chef was very open to creative input, for example we wanted a raw bar, and lobster appetizers during cocktail hour for guests visiting from outside of the Boston area, and also wanted to include menu items from the Carolina's,where our daughter had been living for a few years. We were able to work with the chef to create the wedding menu.
The 5 star quality and level of detailed service was beyond anything we could have imagined

The Catered Affair at the BPL was fabulous in every way. Not only is the food extraordinarily good and the choices infinite, but the staff is as professional as you can get. Everyone was helpful, knowledgeable, quick to respond to any request, efficient--any positive accolade you could list applied. Our principal contact--the Event Planner, Eliza Rafferty--was outstanding. She was flexible and easy and fun to work with. She had suggestions of vendors in every category, not only who were excellent in their field of work, but who were familiar with the BPL. This was a huge advantage. Eliza had ideas about what works and doesn't, as well as wise advice about timing, decor, music, hotel bloc booking, and so much more. She made it all happen, and truly ran the event itself like a well-oiled machine/performance. As the mother-of-the-bride, I just relaxed and enjoyed the whole evening. She was on top of working with our various vendors, so we never worried about coordination. And, the food! The cocktail hour was lovely, but the meal itself was gourmet all the way. Guests raved about the food, and with good reason. It's the best in Boston! I would recomment TCA at the BPL to anyone. It's not inexpensive, but was worth every dollar!

When I first met Erin Davies with The Catered Affair, I knew I had found the perfect person to work with on my wedding. Given the number of weddings she does, I don't know how she keeps the enthusiasm so fresh and so honest that I felt as though mine was the only wedding she was doing for the whole year.
I am a fairly laid back bride, I did not stress the details. The reason I was allowed to feel so stress free and to really and truly enjoy the experience is 100% because of Erin and TCA. Erin was constantly in touch with me, keeping me on track with the details that needed attention, and reminding me of the details that were not worth my energy. The planning was so smooth and effortless that I did not have one single moment during the whole process that I felt even remotely overwhelmed.
When the day of the wedding arrived, I felt like royalty. Erin took care of every detail. She had mentioned that the staff (including the AMAZING Pearl) were going to be available for our every need. She wasn't kidding. There was not one moment where I needed a single thing. The staff was invisible, taking care of every detail of the day seamlessly. And when I did need something (whether it was a fresh drink, something to eat, or to get away from a conversation with a relative that went on for one second too long) before I even had the thought, there was someone right by my side taking care of it.
To say that I had the "wedding of my dreams" would imply that I could have ever dreamed of something so wonderful. In my wildest imagination I couldn't have pictured something that even compared to the day that we had. Our guests have sent us thank you cards for the day, that's the first I've ever heard of that.
To Erin, Pearl and the whole staff at TCA at the BPL, thank you seems small in comparison to what you did for Ben and I. You made our day so special, it wouldn't have been complete without you.

One word: INCREDIBLE! The Catered Affair at the BPL made me the happiest bride in the world! I honestly cannot say enough about how amazing the venue, the food, the staff, and the entire day was. The wedding felt like a fairy tale, and if anything did go wrong, I was blissfully unaware (trust me, that is EXACTLY what you want when you are a bride.)

While I am sure all of the event coordinators at TCA are amazing, I worked with Erin Davies and her team, and would highly recommend them. From day one, they were organized and professional, and helped make all of my decisions feel easy and effortless (I was planning the wedding from DC, so I relied heavily on their help). Erin (who's energy is contagious) truly made my experience unforgettable, and I felt lucky to have her there throughout the planning process and on the day of the wedding.

If you get married at the Library, I promise you will have the best wedding imaginable!

I had the most wonderful library wedding thanks to the Catered Affair. The entire planning process was a breeze, from choosing the rooms to rent to sampling food and desserts. The BPL is a gorgeous location and the staff is poised and professional. Not a cheap event, but my wedding was worth every penny!

From our first meeting with the Catered Affair at the BPL we had nothing but wonderful things to say about Erin Davies, our wedding coordinator, and the entire staff at the BPL. They were amazing! The tasting at the BPL was amazing - the food was delicious.We had our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour in the courtyard of the BPL, and the reception was in the Popular Reading Room. I was personally not that picky on certain things, such as the cake and decorations around their mantle, and trusted Erin and her team to use the fresh flowers to decorate - and our cake was beyond beautiful and the mantle was stunning! Erin and the staff at the library were very responsive to any issues my husband and I had, as well as any questions my mother had and was always willing to have us come meet for a bit to discuss anything that was on our minds. I get very nervous when the attention is on me, and Erin made me feel so comfortable and calm, and I had a massive weight lifted off my shoulders knowing her and her team were there on our day, and had full confidence any situation or problem would be handled flawlessly. The day couldn't have gone any better if we had done it 10 times over!! It was absolutely beautiful, happy, fun and relaxed! Erin was AMAZING!!! and so was the entire BPL staff!!!! Can't say enough wonderful things about them all - and the FOOD!!!!!! the chef was incredibly flexible with our menu - we decided to offer 2 stations instead of 3 in order to stay within our budget and still be able to offer a good cut of steak and some nice things, which still left our guests 6 main courses to choose from plus sides. Everyone I talked to at the wedding and everyone since went up for seconds or thirds, I keep getting so many compliments on the hor d'ovrs. They were DELISH and everyone loved the choices, the presentation, and the efficiency of the staff. We had our wedding 3 weeks ago, and people are still raving about the food.

TCA is the best in Boston for a reason. The food was amazing and Alec was a pleasure to work with. During the tasting we had a few issues with the food, they happily invited us for a second tasting and the issue was fixed. The guests could not stop talking about the food. Another company had the exclusive rights to the beverage service at our venue, but TCA provided non-alcoholic drinks during the ceremony since it was in a private residence outside. The mint lemonade and watermelon cooler were great... exactly what I asked/hoped for.

I highly recommend TCA!!

The Boston Public Library provides a magnificently beautiful and intimate venue right in the heart of the city. The experienced, professional and creative wedding planner from the Catered Affair guided us throughout the entire planning process. Ultimately, we were truly able to create a wedding that was a reflection of ourselves as a couple as well as an amazing celebration with all our family and friends.

The Catered Affair was amazing! I had my wedding at the Boston Public Library and they couldn't have been more professional and fun. They helped me plan every step of the way, and wedding day went off without a hitch. A lot of guests said the food was the best that they've had at any wedding and commented on the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. I have already recommended their services to two good friends who are starting the wedding process. They made everything so stress free and I can't believe how easily everything fell into place! They were the best vendor decision I made during the whole wedding process!

The Catered Affair the Boston Public Library did such a wonderful job at my wedding. The food was so delicious and well presented, and we received so many contents on both the quality and abundance of food at our wedding. The cakes were delicious and beautiful, and the alcohol flowed well all night!!! They were great!

The BPL created an amazing backdrop for my wedding. It was truly unique. The one thing that I would caution about is that we chose to have our dinner in the Popular Reading Room and dancing in the room next door. In retrospect, I may have liked the flow better if dinner and dancing was taking place in one room. On the flip side, having the event take place in different rooms allowed the guests to explore and experience the beauty of the library.

Had a slow start getting organized but the Catered Affair was very professional, helpful and the food was outstanding. Our guests raved about the food and staff. Would definitely recommend them and use them for future events.

The Catered Affair is high-end, but well worth the price. They lived-up to their reputation for food quality and excellent service. Our guests had a great time and raved about both. They helped us out from concept to completion and our wedding could not have been more perfect. They also brought to our attention things we didn't think of to make our day even more special. We would not have changed a thing!

Our experience with the Catered Affair was everything it should have been when we planned our daughter's wedding.We had the pleasure of working with the experienced coordinater, James Hansen, who made the process nothing but enjoyable. Having someone to guide us thru the planning process was invaluable and helped elleviate unnecessary stress. The week before the wedding..James statement to me ,"this is a day for you and your family and we don't want you to worry about anything. When you walk into the library we want you to enjoy every minute." That was exactly the kind of day we had thanks to the Catered Affair and staff. We cannot forget the main ingredient of the day, The food which was five star,all around. No regrets on any level.

Great catering service. Food was on point. Signature drink was perfect. Everything was planned to the T. Only thing that surprised me was that my event producer left a hour before the end of my wedding. Not sure if that is normal.

The Boston Public Library is a stunning, unique venue, and it was such an honor to have been married there. We had our ceremony in the courtyard in August (weather was perfect, but there was a rain plan just in case) our cocktail hour in the courtyard, dinner in Bates Reading Room, and dancing in the Abbey room. I'll break down a few of the different aspects of TCA:
- Food: the food is EXCELLENT. We had short ribs, sea bass, and vegetarian risotto, and they were all delicious. Everything was served at the same time and was the perfect temperature. There were so many things that I didn't even get to try, but since we had a tasting at the library a couple of months before the wedding, I can say confidently that TCA excels in food, spirits, and desserts. Everything was perfect.
- Venue: I live pretty close to the library and pass in and out all the time. To see it decorated gorgeously at night was unbelievable. It felt completely surreal and still does. The building is as beautiful as can be. You can't go wrong with any of these rooms, and the other options are beautiful as well. It was an unforgettable evening.
- Cost: The BPL and TCA are very expensive. There were times during the planning that I was overwhelmed with the additional costs. You can do many creative things with this venue, but everything has a price, and it's often more than you expect. However, my family and I both felt that the value was worth the cost. The execution was impeccable, the service on the night of the wedding was perfect, and we had absolutely nothing to worry about other than enjoying ourselves and our guests. So, you are paying a great deal, but you are also getting what you pay for, which is a flawless event.
- Service: We worked with Michele and Erica, who were professional, responsive, and very thorough. They worked extremely hard to make sure both we and our guests had an amazing evening (they will really go all out for your guests, and there is a bridal attendant as well).

The Boston Public Library is not inexpensive, but you wouldn't expect it to be: a historic public building in downtown Boston. For the same price as one of the surrounding hotels, however, you get beautiful architecture, a sense of history, and an experienced and responsive staff who make your preparations go smoothly. We love books and stories, but it was the beautiful courtyard and the elegant Public Reading Room that really sold us, not to mention the gorgeous upstairs rooms that were open for photos.

Because the Library is still open to the public, they may not be able to accommodate every possible plan, but they are more than willing to help you realize a beautiful wedding and reception if you can be a little bit flexible in return.
