Baby Shower

I had my daughter-in-law's baby shower at the Bennett-Curtis House and it was amazing! I chose to do a 10 am shower with breakfast and omelette bar, and the food was delicious! It was set up so beautifully and my guests enjoyed it! The staff was wonderful to work with during the planning process and accommodated every one of my needs.

Plated dinner for 170

Scott went above and beyond!!! Food was hot and tasty! His staff was very professional and cleaned up everything when the event was over. He answered all texts and calls immediately. I would highly recommend Bennett Curtis house for your catering needs. He also supplied all glassware which was a lot. Bartenders were fast and efficient there was never a wait. I am very happy with his services.

Professional, Communicative, and Personable

Scott was incredibly professional, responsive, and thorough throughout the entire planning stage. On the day of the event, he was very personable and effectively communicated between everyone at all times to ensure everyone was on the same page. We could not have asked for a better venue, coordinator, or staff. The food and drinks were fantastic. Bar service was incredible. Everyone had a really great time, and we owe it all to Scott and The Bennett Curtis House staff.

Bridal shower brunch

My daughter really wanted breakfast foods and a mimosa bar for her shower. Bennett Curtis House was a great choice for this! The food was excellent. Everyone was helpful and professional. They were prompt in getting answers back to me with any questions I had.

50th Extravaganza

The Staff worked with me from the time I approached them about hosting my wife's 50th Birthday Celebration! It was a great event thanks to their attention to detail and meeting my requests at each step. My thanks to them for helping to host an excellent celebration.

Outstanding!

The Bennet Curtis team was so easy to work with! We elected to do 3 stations at our wedding reception. The food was delicious and there was something for everyone. One of the fabulous ladies even searched for my husband and I during passed appetizers to make sure we didn’t miss out!

Daughter’s Wedding Reception

When our daughter graduated from Olivet I was looking for a nice place to have a celebration dinner. It was then that I discovered The Bennet-Curtis House. She stayed in the area, and five years later announced her engagement and gave me 6 months to plan! As I frantically searched for a caterer, I ran across the Bennett-Curtis House and remembered the lovely celebration dinner we had. We called them and thankfully they were available the weekend that we needed. They asked if we wanted to have a menu tasting but we remembered how wonderful the food was when we were there so we declined the offer. We added appetizers platters to our order and were pleasantly surprised that the staff replenished the items and kept it neat. We also added the cake cutting service which was a lifesaver! We received many positive comments on the both the appetizers and the meal. Scott was a pleasure to work with, he was very flexible. The staff was also very efficient, friendly, and professional. We felt that they went beyond and above our expectations! We highly recommend them!

Wonderful Place and Staff

We had my daughter’s bridal shower at The Bennett-Curtis House. The theme was Breakfast at Tiffany’s with a tea party sandwiches, mimosas and a blue color chocolate fountain. Everything, from scheduling to end of the party, was perfect.

Very Accommodating, excellent service and the quality of food was amazing!

They were able to provide a luncheon for 65ppl over 3 different shifts with only 1 business day of notice. Also delivered to our off shift without hesitation. Food came piping hot for all shifts. All around excellence!

Great group event

I contacted this venue for a murder mystery dinner holiday party. I had approx 39 guests and did not know what to expect prior to booking the event, except all the reviews I read were very good. The house was beautifully decorated, so very little needed to be done by me, except place cards and table numbers for my guests. The food was good and the improv actors did fantastic in keeping us all entertained and engaged. I highly recommend Bennett/Curtis House for your next large gathering!

40th Wedding Anniversary

I reserved The Bennett Curtis House for my parents 40th Wedding Anniversary and it was perfect. The food was great, Scott was awesome to work with and he was very prompt at responding to emails and phone calls. My parents have thanked me everyday since for such a beautiful venue and celebration. Thank you to Scott and his staff for making us feel so welcome and doing such a great job.

Exactly what we wanted

Everything was very organized and ran smoothly. Anytime I had a question it was answered very quickly and I received everything I wanted. The garden was a beautiful place to get married and we are very satisfied with everything. It was just as we imagined and couldn't have asked for more.

Staff Christmas party

We had a group of 28 for a staff Christmas party. The dinner options were perfect for our diverse group. The murder mystery was hilarious and very interactive. Our group truly was having the best time. Loved the venue, food and the actor’s were very entertaining. I would highly recommend it. They also a Harry Potter themed party, several of us would to attend in the future.

Was a abouslute hit!

My fiance and I were supposed to have a wedding last year. We had to postponed till this year. We decided to do a joint Bachelor and Bachelorette with a 1920 speak easy murder mystery. LET ME TELL YOU !!!! IT WAS PERFECT!!!!! FOOD WAS DELIGHTFUL AND DELICIOUS, CAST WAS FRIENDLY AND HILARIOUS. MOST OF THE FRIENDS AND FAMILY NEVER DONE A MURDER MYSTERY DINNER .THEY CAN'T STOP RAVING!!!!! WE ARE ALREADY GETTING A GROUP TOGETHER TO GO TO WIZARD FEST AND THEN DO ANOTHER THEMED MURDER MYSTERY AFTER THE WEDDING. WE WILL BE BACK SOON !!!!!!

Bennett Curtis House Went Beyond Our Expectations

Very good value and availability to review the details of our event, and most importantly the Bennett Curtis House delivered on those details. Very flexible. Very beautiful outdoor and indoor setting; enjoyed by all. Great value; not sure if there is anywhere else where you could have such a nice wedding reception in such a unique and beautiful place with a modest budget.

Wedding at Willow Haven

The Bennett-Curtis house went above and beyond for our small wedding this past weekend. Scott helped with everything, from getting our timeline together to suggesting different menu options. I rented a lot of table setting items which was so helpful! The food was so good and the staff was so nice and attentive! If you’re looking for delicious, friendly catering this is it! Fabulous and Affordable!

I had my granddaughters wedding bridal tea. Everybody thought it was wonderful. Mini sandwiches and desserts were great. Beautifully decorated with white tablecloths and choice of colored napkins. No complaints. My granddaughter who is 5 told me it was the best party she was ever at! It was very affordable and I totally recommend it! Thanks to Bennett-Curtis for a wonderful bridal tea. 👏👏👏👍🏻💐👰🏻🤵🏼🤩👫

Outstanding Service & Great Food!

Bennett-Curtis catered my Dad's 90th birthday celebration. The original estimate was for 100 people and as we continued to add people, the final guest count was 180. Nicole and Scott were always prompt, flexible, courteous and professional. They understand the concept of customer service. The party attendees provided feedback that the food was excellent. I even got a call from my aunt asking who we used because she wants to check with them about doing an event for her. Bennett-Curtis will definitely be my "go-to" caterer for future events.

Bridal Shower Tea Party

If you are looking for a location for a bridal shower, The Bennett-Curtis House is perfect! I had a tea party themed shower and it was wonderful. All of the food was great, the set up was perfect for what we needed, and the staff was friendly and accommodating! I would highly recommend this for someone looking for a bridal shower venue.

Delicious Food - Great Service

The staff on site was very courteous and went above and beyond to ensure that our celebration for our employees was a success. The chef hat, professionalism, the food, and positive attitude will be remembered by our management team. The food venue was a big hit and one of the senior managers present indicated that we had set the bar for an event of this type. We recommend Bennett Curtis for all catering needs!!

We had high expectations all were met. They went above and beyond to make our day perfect! We had a 1920s theme. We wanted a cocktail style party with plenty of filling food. So our guests could mingle and socialize. Presentation was huge to us and they nailed it! Thank you so much Scott and Staff we are very happy. The food was delicious!

The Bennett Curtis House catered our son and daughter in law's reception two weeks ago and did a wonderful job! Scott and his team were helpful throughout the planning and were seamless in their presentation. We were so very pleased with the quality of the appetizers and fruit station and with his willingness to make sure everything turned out perfectly! Excellent service provided throughout process. Everyone went out of their way to help make our day amazing. We were a very small party, only about 30 total and we were treated as if we were spending 10s of thousands of dollars. Highly recommend this venue and all of the persons associated with the business.

I cannot recommend Bennett-Curtis House highly enough! I was a unique bride with a unique vision: a wedding at a train depot, with a vintage 1950s Americana theme. I wanted food stations, with Americana themed food: mini sliders, grilled cheese, mashed potatoes, salad, etc. I researched probably 2-3 dozen, MINIMUM, different catering vendors in the entire Chicago, suburbs, and central Illinois area. Bennett-Curtis was the only vendor that seemed to already offer and know what they were doing with a food station menu, at a very reasonable cost. So then, of course, I was nervous to try the food. I went with my parents, and while I wouldn't exactly qualify us as foodie experts, we do know good quality food and BCH knocked it out of the park!! Seriously!! Everything was so good, with little twists that made it all a little more gourmet. For example, their mini chicken breast sliders - with sweet mango salsa. I'm not even big on salsa and it was amazing. The number of people we had complimenting the food at our wedding was impressive. Plus, Scott and his staff were incredibly responsible and flexible, almost always getting responses within 24 hours or less via email. If you're planning a wedding anywhere in the North or Central region of Illinois, especially if you have a specific vision for what you want at your wedding, DO NOT leave BCH out of your consideration set - I really don't see how they could disappoint!!

Working with Terry made the planning process very easy. She was very accommodating and answered all my questions. Would definitely host an event there again. Terry and Lisa did a fantastic job making sure my guests were attended to. The food was great and the Mimosa station was a big hit.

Our venue shut down 18 days before the wedding and they helped us out of a tight spot. We should have just gone with them from the beginning! What a great place, staff, and service!!!

We had our wedding ceremony at the Bennett Curtis House and it was beautiful. Scott was a great event planner and he made sure that everything went smoothly and was exactly what we wanted. Bennett Curtis House is excellent for your catering needs!! They were right on time, handled the crowd with tact and professionalism. The food was absolutely wonderful and for the money you cannot beat it!! Anything we wanted or needed they accomodated us. If I am planning another event like this I will definitely call them again. Working with Scott from the Bennett Curtis House was easy. He help us out with anything that he could. The place was beautiful and everyone complimented us on the venue. He accommodated our last minute changes in plans better than we could have asked. We held the Ceremony and the reception there and they really did a great job. The food was great and the grounds made for some really spectacular photos. I would recommend this place to anyone no matter how fancy or informal you want you event to be.

We used Bennett-Curtis Catering for our 35th Wedding Anniversary Party which was held at the B. Harley Bradley House in Kankakee. Because Scott and his crew had catered many previous events there, they knew all about the strict rules of a Frank Lloyd Wright house, and knew just how to set-up the rooms for good traffic flow, etc. The staff was extremely professional and helpful, and the food was excellent. They couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. We would highly recommend!

We decided to get married and planned our wedding with the help of my mom, sister-in-law, my mother-in-law, my friend Emily and Scott from the Bennett Curtis House in less than 3 WEEKS!! They grilled the food there so it was all fresh. He brought me my flowers so I didn't have to run to florist. He also had my boys fitted and brought and took back their tuxes for me!! There was not one thing that I wanted done for the wedding that they couldn't do. They made planning this day such a less stressful situation than it could be!!! We held our wedding reception at Bennett-Curtis House and could not have been more pleased with their service throughout the entire process from planning to execution. I must first say that we have attended weddings there in the past and always admired the beautiful setting but we were unsure whether we could hold our reception there as my husband has Celiac Disease and he must eat 100% gluten free. The owner went above and beyond to accommodate our needs. He recreated several dishes on the menu, which we were dying to try, in order to make them gluten free and delicious. Such care went into every detail to make our reception exactly what we dreamed of. We even hired them to come to our "post-party" celebration about 15 miles from the venue - they catered and served an amazing mashed potato bar that was exactly what we needed after a long night of celebrating. We had, as most couples do, several scheduling glitches the day of the wedding. BCH was extremely flexible and allowed us to start setting up early, serve dinner a bit late, and so on. The staff at BCH are friendly, attentive, and professional. To sum up the experience, I would say: Gluten Free Heaven! Accommodating beyond belief! Stunning and unique location with fantastic staff and ownership!

I would highly recommend the Bennett Curtis House to have your wedding. They are great to work with and truly care about what the bride and groom want. I had a lot of guests come up and say it was the most beautiful wedding they've been to, the outdoor ceremony is breathtaking, especially at night with all the outdoor lights. They are great at helping you plan your wedding. They take a lot of stress off the bride. Highly recommend!

We had an outdoor wedding and reception, it was amazing. We often look back and try to think of one thing that wasn't absolutely perfect and to be honest we can't. We had a beautiful sunny day, the decor of the house was gorgeous, the food was amazing and you could definetly tell this wasn't their first wedding. I highly recommend the Bennett Curtis House in Grant Park, IL.

I had my wedding here almost 9 years ago and my guests are still talking about what a gorgeous wedding it was! We were married outside on the bridge in the garden in the middle of July and it was the most perfect wedding! I highly recommend it to everyone. The cost is soooo reasonable for what you are getting!

I couldn't have asked for a more perfect wedding. Scott and Kerry at the Bennett Curtis House are exceptional at what they do. They work with the couple to be married and are very courteous and professional. They help work around your budget and your wants and needs. They help you find all of the vendors, and if you take a package through them, the photographer, cake designer, florist, carriage ride, catering, and reception and ceremony site are all accompanied into the package and you don't have to worry about contacting/finding those vendors. The total price for our wedding is very reasonable considering the exceptional service we received. The pictures of the outdoor wedding are gorgeous and I couldn't be more pleased. I would recommend having your wedding and reception at the Bennett Curtis House to everyone.

Wonderful! Beautiful! Outstanding! I had planned to hold the reception at our home since my sister wanted a garden reception and our backyard would have been lovely in May,but as the number of guests increased I had to make a quick change of plans. I checked numerous locations and chose the Bennett-Curtis House because Scott was very accomadating and the Garden location they could provide was perfect especially since there was a great location for the band,and dancing as well. The staff was professional and could not have been nicer. Everyone had a lovely time and didn't want the evening to end. My daughter had her wedding at Bennett Curtis and she couldn't have picked a more lovlier place to get married. She lives out of state but got married back home so it was up to Mom to do a lot of running around! Going to Bennett Curtis made things so easy. Right from the beginning they were easy to work with, very responsive, very easy going. The venue is beautiful. Our guests commented on the lovely decor. The food was fantastic - from the appetizers, the main meal (we had food stations), and the chocolate fountain was a HUGE hit! The bride and groom wanted everything outside and it got quite chilly. Scott had heaters to put up under the tent and it made for a very enjoyable evening. I would highly recommend Bennett Curtis. If you don't have time to run around for a cake, tuxes, DJ, photographer - no worries they take care of that for you. You just make the phone calls. It was wonderful. A great place for a wedding!!

My daughter wanted a small wedding and the Bennett-Curtis House was absolutely perfect. Scott was super responsive to my (many) questions and made sure every detail was carried out just as we had discussed. For the wedding day the only thing we had to do was enjoy the event and Scott and crew took care of everything else! We had many compliments on how smooth the evening went when transitioning from ceremony to appetizers then dinner to dancing. The dinner was excellent and service was prompt for each course. We could not have asked for a better wedding venue. Having a package with photography/cake/dinner/florist included enabled us to keep our costs in check without sacrificing. If you want a full service event the Bennett-Curtis House should be at the top of your list!

I would recommend the Bennett-Curtis House to anyone. Planning the day was made extremely easy by the staff. They are very accommodating and kind. We had the wedding day of our dreams at a cost we could feel good about. Not to mention how beautiful the place is. Absolutely stunning!

The only real complaint that I have is that I had a difficult time getting in touch with my point of contact. I did all of my setup over the phone, and so I ended up talking to a different person each time I needed to discuss the wedding. They did however accommodate my needs for no alcohol in the cooking.

Overall our experience with Bennett-Curtis House Catering was what we expected. The food tasted just as good as it did when we sampled it a year before our event. Our real issues were with the linens and chairs we rented. The original delivery of linens was not the proper size, even though I emailed Terri, who had been communicating with us, our table measurements. Instead of ordering table linens that would be appropriate for the size table we were using, she ordered based on the exact table measurements, so when we put to use the table linens, they were too small. Scott, who's title I am unsure of, went to his distributor to pick up additional linens so that we could make it work. I thought his service in this aspect was great; however, we had to pay for these extra linens even though this was Terri's error. We knew we had really no other choice since it was 10:00 AM the day before the event, so I paid the bill. We also rented white wooden chairs from them. Roughly 95% of the chairs arrived very dirty and falling apart. The other 5% looked to be brand new vinyl chairs. Obviously we would have liked all of our chairs to be of the highest quality, but we understood that they were probably replacing their old, unusable wooden chairs with the vinyl as the wooden ones broke. At the very least, the chairs should have arrived clean, and duct tape free - which they did not.
In addition to their buffet, we also utilized their ice cream cart services. We had ordered a certain amount of ice cream based on the number of guests attending, but we were not reimbursed for what was not consumed, or given the option to take the left over ice cream that we had already paid for. I found this to be a bit irritating. They did however, package our left over dinner and we were able to take that home.
Overall, I would recommend BCH; however, be sure you over communicate and confirm details, since emails are not always read clearly and in their entirety.

DO NOT HAVE YOUR WEDDING HERE!!!!!!! I had my wedding here and it was a huge disappointment. The original plan was to have the wedding and ceremony outside which but due to the weather that changed. On Friday night at the rehearsal I decided to have at least the dinner part of the reception inside as it was so hot and humid ( and they were calling for storms). The day of the wedding we got to Bennett-Curtis and proceded to get ready, in that time there was a severe thunderstorm warning issued and the storm was headed directly for us. I told Kerry that at that point I just wanted to do everything inside ( as it would just be easier for the dj, guests and myself) her response was "well let's just wait until the last minute, the storm might miss us". At this point the storm was in the next town over and it was definetly going to hit us! Well we did end up having the ceremony inside. We lost power in the middle of the Ceremony ( which I realize isn't their fault but still annoying!). After the ceremony we went outside ( under tent) to take pictures, while out there I saw Kerry attempt to carry my 3 tier beautiful wedding cake inside by herself. Well of course that was not a good idea at all since she ended up dropping it ( one of my guests actually grabbed the top tier before it hit the ground) they were able to save it enough that we were able to still do the cake cutting. But the back side of the cake was ruined! They never addressed this with us at all, didn't even apoligize!! The night only gets worse as it goes on, they forgot to put out our toasting glasses ( we ended up doing out toasts with water glasses). None of our guests even knew we were doing the cake cutting and they weren't able to hear any of the toasts because the PA system didn't work at all and no one was told that any of these thing were going on! The food wasn't very good at all, at the least it wasn't consistent ( some was cold, some was dry, some undercooked and some overcooked). Needless to say this was not the wedding I had always wanted, but it wasn't even what I had paid for!! I sent the owners an email after the wedding and the response I got was in the form an email stating that he would talk with the staff about it and get back in touch with me. Then I got a letter/package in the mail stating that everything I had complained about wasn't thier fault that in some way or another. They also sent me an thing to send my wedding dress away to get cleaned and preserved. But after my experince with them why in the world would I trust them or anyone they would recommend with my dress!!! Oh I forgot to add how rude they were too, they even told one of my guest ( who was in a wheel chair) that she was taking up too much room at the table and that she needed to move over because they had to fit 10 people at the table ( never mind that we had plenty of foom for people at other tables and that it wasn't an issue at all for my guest to sit where she was at all). Like I said in the begining of this reveiw do not have your wedding here!
