Kay and Melissa with the Barn at Kline's Mill are some of the most patient people I have ever met. They were very prompt with their responses to me in regards to our initial meeting. They answered all my questions openly and honestly, and they made me feel comfortable with my decision to book them for our reception venue. The barn itself is absolutely stunning and spacious. They have many activities for the guests at the wedding, such as lawn games, and they are accepting of all my ideas and not hesitant to offer their own. I am also so excited to work with them as my catering company!

The venue was beautiful & had everything we wanted! They had gorgeous lighting inside, bonfires going, a horse for kids to pet, & lawn games. The barn has a touch of rustic but is also beautiful & affordable. Places that were quite literally minutes down the road were charging double what the Barn wanted & were not nearly as nice. Truly, the venue was exactly what we were looking for; it was spacious for the dancing & tables & required almost no further decoration from us. Really, we only decorated the tables & the ceremony arbor & it was perfect. I would say it can have a more rustic feel ranging to a bit above “Sunday best” sort of attire for the guests depending upon how you decorate. It’d be difficult to pull off a black-tie style event here, but otherwise it’s a versatile venue. The grounds were also PERFECT for some amazing photos.

I will say there was a miscommunication the day of; one woman who lives in the Farmhouse next door told us ladies we could leave our things there until after the ceremony. While we were waiting for the ceremony to start, another woman came over & told us everything had to be moved ASAP because a dinner party had booked the room we’d used for a few hours from then. It was a bit rude, but it was probably a one-time thing; we moved our things & it was no big deal.

They’ve recently redone their wedding arbor & it’s a bit nontraditional from what you’ll see on pinterest & such, but we were able to decorate it ourselves regardless.

If you book the Barn, you are required to use Early Katering Company for the food at minimum; see my review of their services for more information. My ratings for the Barn's responsiveness & professionalism were largely due to my experience with Early Katering as they served as my primary point of contact for the Barn. I would definitely recommend booking this beautiful venue.

    Decent venue

We were looking for a venue to host our wedding a few days after Christmas that would not cost us a fortune, but would also be somewhere that we could decorate and make it our own. My parents had to visit venues for us as we were planning the wedding from half way across the country. I was not sold on the venue at first but I have to say it looked really lovely on our wedding day once it was all decorated. I found the venue to be slightly challenging to work with. The communication was sub par for trying to plan such a special event. It wasn’t until 2 weeks before the wedding when we finally found out if we could decorate the day before. I don’t know how anyone decorates a venue the day of their wedding....it wouldn’t have looked as nice if that were the case. Since it was December and cold we got married in the barn. Just know that the altar is in front of a fire exit which would be hideous for pictures if you don’t come up with a solution of your own. I was told brides usually leave the doors open to show the view. It was December and I wasn’t about to say my wedding vows freezing my tail off. Thankfully my father is handy and built a wooden altar that we hung lights and curtains on to cover the doors. The farmhouse tables are much nicer than what you might get at another venue. The lights around the ceiling are also a nice touch. We all got ready in the farmhouse and aside from it being chilly in there it all worked out. The price of the venue is really what attracted us and we had a beautiful wedding there and it didn’t cost us $5-10k to rent a ceremony/reception venue. As far as the catering service I thought the staff did a great job, but our buffet was served cold and was probably due to the fact that the timeline was ignored and the food was ready 45 minutes earlier than it was supposed to be. The meal wasn’t anything to rave over but it might have been better if it was hot especially for what it cost to feed all of the guests. I had higher hopes with such a large selection of foods on their menu to choose from and the fact that the food at the tasting was pretty good.

Overall I was mostly happy with choosing Early Katering Company for catering our wedding at their venue The Barn at Klines Mill. Saying that I am one of the most laid back go with the flow kinda people and I was not a stressed out bride.
They were pretty disorganized from the start. Took a while to respond to emails (it did get better the closer to the date) and on one email they titled it "Hey Erin" even though my name is Emily. Not a huge deal but shows a lack of professionalism. We had requested nineteen tables to be set up but when we got there to start decorating there were only eighteen tables set up.
The venue was really gorgeous. I absolutely loved getting married in the barn and all of our guests loved it as well. The inside and outside were perfect for pictures.
The food was good. Nothing I would rant and rave about but it was fine. Their homemade salad dressings were really good.
We were sincerely disappointed with the bar situation. We had an open bar and didn't seem to have an issue with liquor or wine but they ran out of beer. Right after our ceremony we went outside to take a few pictures and one of my husband's friends went to get us some drinks. My husband had requested a dogfish head beer which we had set up with Early Katering to be served to our guests. Not even thirty minutes into our cocktail hour they were already out of my husbands favorite beer. He was so disappointed. Early Katering must have sent someone out on a beer run but they came back with Bud Light which was not a beer we even wanted served to our guests. We had discussed with Early Katering how much our family and friends would partake in the bar and are frustrated they didn't plan accordingly.

Beautiful venue - staff needs work

The Barn at Klines Mill is a beautiful venue. Perfectly tucked in the mountains with farm animals and great for a fun outdoor barn wedding. Be aware, the staff is still working out a lot of kinks in their workflow. If you are planning a wedding in a short period of time I would not choose this venue. Thankfully, we spent almost two years planning which gave the barn staff plenty of time to email us which is what they needed. The staff changed over multiple times taking months to get responses. It got better as we got closer to the wedding day but it did cause a lot of stress. I would not recommend using their flowers or cake company. They are not worth the discount since the communication is terrible. At one point, their lead staff member was sick (which is totally understandable) but then we got a grossly detailed email of her sickness. It was very unprofessional. All that being said, our wedding was fantastic. The venue was beautiful the food was amazing the day of staff was kind, so it all worked out. They just need help with their leadership and communication…. big time.

While I'd love to give a higher rating because of the natural beauty of the venue itself, certain aspects of the service during my wedding in August 2016 negatively affected my opinion of the company. Although the lawns appeared to be well manicured, we had to notify the owner the day before the wedding to remove a huge wasp's nest which was located directly over the barn door which the bridal party and all guests would walk through. The barn was musty even the day before the wedding, but looked in good shape. Tables were set up as expected.

We chose the farmhouse barbecue menu, including having the barbecue come fresh off the smoker. This didn't happen; there was no smoker in sight nor were we notified of the change. The meats were served out of standard catering dishes. I tried to grab a few bites to eat and thought the barbecue to be a bit dry, so when the owner/head caterer walked by me, I asked if one of the servers could provide some barbecue sauce for me. She told me there was sauce already on the barbecue and walked away. Honestly, I was in disbelief (as the bride) to be flat out refused a simple request. No sauces were ever brought out for serving the guests either, even though the catering company boasted about their homemade sauces during the menu tasting. Carafes of ice water served smelled strongly of sulfur.

Overall, guests enjoyed the barn wedding experience, and we were so happy to be married that we didn't let the little stuff get to us... just disappointed in the service. After spending thousands and thousands of dollars on the venue and food, have not heard even a peep from the company asking how we thought everything went. Clearly they do not care if we were satisfied with their services!

Great reception but better customer service is needed

The barn is a beautiful venue, and we had a great wedding reception there. However, there were a number of events that led us to give a less than 5 star review. As other recent reviewers have noted, the staff is working out kinks and response times are slow. You must be patient. We also had some issues during our event. We had requested a number of boxed meals for vendors that were outside during our event (photobooth, bus drivers). The number of meals as well as who was to be getting them was listed on our contract. These meals were never delivered. Early Katering claimed that these were offered and everyone turned them down. However, the vendors said they were never offered meals. I gave gift cards to these vendors after the event because I felt so horrible. Leftover food was to be boxed up as part of the contract as well. When we arrived the next day, all the food as well as our leftover cupcakes and favor doughnuts were gone. We also noticed their servers having ice cream from the truck we had at our reception without asking for permission. Our guests also noted that the servers helped themselves to the appetizers before the cocktail hour started. We relayed all this information back to Early Katering and they did nothing to amend the situation. With many beautiful wedding locations in the valley, I think you can find much better customer service elsewhere.

    Totally unreaponsive

They were the first people we talked to and we loved the venue. However the company Early Katering owns the venue and you have to use them for catering. It took EK nearly a month to get us a quote. Other caterers turned a complete quote around in days. One did a tasting with us and was able to produce a quote immediately. It was a huge disappointment that EK was so unresponsive. The quote they provided was thorough but also confusing. We were no longer considering them by the time we got it so didn’t ask for explanations. Would avoid them.

I had my ceremony and reception at the Barn at Kline's Mill. Leading up to our wedding, they were extremely delayed in responding to emails and provided detailed excuses for why they didn't respond sooner. We requested for everything to be set up the day before and had gone through the layout with them. Upon arriving, they had 22 tables set up instead of 25, like we discussed. They also had the buffet tables on the incorrect spots and had additional furniture that we had requested to not have for the reception. For the day of our wedding, the servers did a magnificent job. We informed them go go heavy on the alcohol. They didn't have a wine we requested and they made a run to get it. They ran out of beer and completed a 2nd run. They did get the beer we requested when they ran out the 2nd time. During the last 30 minutes of our reception, they were out of beer again. The bartenders also put out tip jars which I thought was extremely tacky since we had planned on tipping them anyways. I got mixed reviews about the food; some loved it and others were served undercooked chicken. They also didn't have a plate available for us when we were cutting the cake. It is a great venue and you can add your personal touch to it, but be prepared for the lack of service.

    Unprofessional experience

I had an awful experience with this vendor. They were hard to get in touch with and once I finally got a hold of someone to schedule a tour, I drove 2 hours to get to the location and they forgot the appointment (and still haven’t reached out to me). Pretty little venue, but not worth the headache.
