Gorgeous, Kind, & Helpful
We chose The Allan House for our April 30, 2022 wedding because the venue matched my husband's classic taste and style, had a great flow throughout the house and courtyard, and just felt like a naturally beautiful, neutral backdrop for our otherwise colorful event. I truly feel this venue can be taken a hundred different aesthetic directions to match the style of the couple. We were also *so* charmed by courtyard's old trees and greenery -- it felt like a sweet, natural refuge in the heart of the city. A fun floral color palette pops beautifully against the greenery! And after dark, the twinkly lights in the trees set a beautiful ambience and were so magical for dancing the night away. I will also add, as a lover of color, that adding streamers overhead amidst the tree branches was such a BIG, FUN touch.
Though the venue is gorgeous on its own, Juliana is the real star of the show. A joy to work with throughout our years of planning, Juliana was always quick to respond to questions, accommodating to new ideas, and just a great communicator with both us and our planner. Her expertise is also apparent in all the wonderful connections she has throughout the wedding industry - other vendors spoke highly of her and the venue throughout planning. Juliana's support and calm, collected manner were most helpful when having to make the decision to nix a rain tent at the very last minute. She didn't have to be involved in that decision, but we super appreciated that one more person was helping us make the tough call - and that she was invested in helping us have the best day possible for our wedding!
Overall, every piece of our special day fell into place perfectly at The Allan House, as if it was all meant to come together in that space. Vendors are comfortable working within the venue's space. And due to its history in the events scene, I feel the best planners know how to really spice this gem up to make it special for the couple. Guests loved the space as well - the balconies were wonderful for cocktail hour as the courtyard was transitioned from ceremony to reception. (Note: inside the house can get very loud when guests are mingling, which made me appreciate the balconies even more.)
A few tips/notes from our experience: 1) The upper balcony was perfect for capturing portraits at golden hour, and it was refreshing to step away from the party for a few quiet moments with just our photographer and videographer. 2) The bride and groom suites worked perfect for our group -- we did not have a bridal party or groomsmen, just our immediate family members present to help us get ready. All hair/makeup was done off-site. 3) I was slightly nervous about the aesthetics and quality of the courtyard sound booth but everyone assured me it would be great. They were right -- the DJ and other musicians that played throughout the evening sounded awesome, and the booth itself just fades into the background. It felt positioned perfectly to pull guests from all corners of the courtyard onto the dance floor when a crowd-pleaser played. 4) I was unsure how dancing on the cobblestones would be, and some ladies definitely had sore feet in their (block) heels, but there were zero issues and guests enjoyed all types of dance.
We love, love, loved our wedding day and The Allan House was the perfect venue for our colorful, party-forward, cocktail style, laidback event. I would recommend it to any other couple who appreciates the natural beauty of the venue, and that enjoys convenient proximity to the city. (Guests enjoyed spilling out of our event to a nearby, walkable bar to continue their night! ;)) -

Customizable, Central, and Cutest Wedding Venue
The Allan House was the perfect venue for our wedding! The staff was amazing from start to finish. All of our emails and many questions were answered promptly throughout the wedding planning process. The wedding day itself was smooth, and we loved having a venue that was within Austin city limits. It was an easy commute for our guests, and we had access to all the fun that Austin has to offer. Additionally, we could really customize the vendors, set up, and vibe of the wedding through this venue. The team at Allan House has put on so many weddings, and everything went smoothly on our wedding day. Thank you so much Juliana, Alex, and everyone at The Allan House!!! -

Brittany & Aaron wedding
My daughter’s wedding was hosted here on March 14,2024. Emily was awesome and Zach was amazing. I cannot say enough good things about these two. They jumped in and helped and was always asking how things were going. Great facility to have ceremony, cocktail hour, photos and reception. Highly recommend The Allan House. -

Amazing wedding venue!
The Allan House was the perfect venue for our wedding! We loved the flexibility they offered compared to some of the other options we explored. The worked seamlessly with our other vendors (caterer, coordinator, band and sound, etc) and the wedding went very smoothly. The location was perfect and all of our out of town guest were able to stay in hotels nearby and walk/uber to the venue. The parking is ample as well for those driving. We definitely recommend considering the Allan House as the venue for your wedding! -

So worth it!
We *loved* Allan House and are so grateful we booked it! We loved the idea of an outdoor wedding, but the cost and hassle of tent rentals was just too much, plus I didn't want to have to create the whole thing from scratch. The winter tent is a dream, and the venue is so gorgeous I honestly didn't do much extra by way of decorations. We did mid-December which was great as everything as still green. Guests couldn't stop commenting on how beautiful the venue was, and since we were a mostly out of town wedding, the location was perfect so people didn't feel the need to rent a car. Working with Juliana was great--she was responsive, helpful, and we used a day-of coordinator she recommended, who was also great. It was in-line with other venues from a price standpoint, but offered so much more. Would make the same choice again, no question. -

Simply the best!!
If you are looking for a unique, historic venue, I cannot recommend the Allan House highly enough. We celebrated our rehearsal dinner with an intimate meal for around 30-40 of our close family and friends on the porch and it was truly one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen (of course we had gorgeous September weather on top of everything else). Frankly, it’s taken me several months to try to put into words how truly special it was (and I still think the photographs do it more justice).
The Allan House lends itself to so many different styles of events, not only intimate gatherings like ours, but I’ve also been fortunate to attend stunner outdoor weddings with the winter tent (which is absolutely incredible, even on the rainiest of days). There are so many noteworthy aspects to the space and there really aren’t any other venues like it in Austin.
I am biased, but can say confidently that Juliana is a treasure and it’s clear why others in the wedding industry hold her in the highest regard. You would be in great hands if you decided to host an event here. -

Beautiful and historic right in downtown ATX
My husband and I started our venue search in the middle of Covid - so many venues were booking quickly due to couples rescheduling to 2021, and others were closing down due to not having business in 2020. We were so lucky to be able to snag a date at The Allan House. Julianna was able to host a virtual tour with us and my parents and then show us around in person after. She was so on top of providing answers to any questions we had and keeping in touch regarding dates we were interested in. The venue has the charm of a historic venue, but you're in the heart of downtown Austin, which we both really wanted. We also liked that we could use a caterer of our choice. The venue is BEAUTIFUL with the large oak trees and wraparound porch. We could not have asked for more, and the team was all-star on top of it all. -

Idyllic Venue
When searching for wedding venues, my husband and made plans to tour some locations to help us decide where we wanted to go (pre-pandemic). Once we arrived, walked around, and talked to Julianna (wedding planning binder in hand) we just loved the place. It was our first stop and nothing beat it!
Settling on a date, and understanding the plethora of rentals included (tables and chairs for 150+ guests) just made the decision that much easier! Juliana was so warm and kind, and worked seamlessly with our coordinator (Mockingbird Lane Events-truly another amazing wedding must-have!) When we requested an additional half-hour for our catering staff, the transaction was quick and reasonable.
Getting married during a global pandemic is sure to cause some headaches, but there was never any issues with communication with Juliana and ensuring we moved forward. My father even contacted her over a year ahead of time to help with research for hotels since majority of our guests were from out of town. She provided a list and professional suggestions about what was worth our time and energy.
The Allan House was absolutely perfect for our quiet, classic yet laid back style of wedding. This backdrop made all of our guests look even more stunning, and the tree lit up at night was gorgeous. Highly suggest The Allan House. You can't go wrong with a beautiful and historic home for your weddings or party needs!

We had our dream wedding at the Allan House
We had an outside ceremony and reception at the Allan House in October 2020. They have a beautiful courtyard and amenities. This historic house is so beautiful in the heart of downtown Austin! Their staff is lovely to work with. I would definitely recommend the Allan House to everyone for a wedding or any other event -

Southern home in the city
I love this place. It’s a total Southern Brides dream. It’s like a country/French country side like venue in the middle of the city. It was in our opinion reasonably priced compared to a lot of venues. Love all the trees and lights. Very naturally beautiful!
Had bridal and grooms suites. Stunning at night. Great spot for if you have a smaller wedding and need a rain option to go indoors. We had Specs and HEB deliver alcohol and mixers straight to the venue.
Everyone pretty much Uber’s to the venue or there’s some street parking. -

Natural beauty in the heart of austin, a must see!
We researched a lot of venues and decided the allan house would be the first one we visit. We went on a tour then came back the next day for an open house, we did not visit anywhere else because we were in love. The allan house has a perfect location in the middle of austin and makes you feel like you are in the hill country. they have a lovely entrance space that open up into an huge open porch then descends into a grand court yard. The lighting seems to be perfect at all times. the courtyard has large treas that bow over it adding life in contrast to the limestone paving. The staff are friendly and work with you as timelines and the weather changes. I am so lucky to have had our wedding here and know you will feel the same once you visit. -

Allan House, Always!
I am a local wedding planner, and I always refer my clients to Allan House. So much to love about this space!
1) the venue manager, Juliana! Juliana is truly such a gem. You want to feel good and well informed about all your decisions when planning a wedding. Juliana helps guide, advise, and support! She is the best in the biz, and gives my clients confidence in their venue choice, as well as decisions around other vendors, flow, and overall must-haves for the space.
2) The Space! Ok - Allan House is truly one of a kind. If you are looking for a venue downtown, that has history and charm, and is convenient for everyone, this is the place! The venue feels private, like its own little oasis. You won't even know you're in the heart of the city!
Highly recommend having your wedding or event here!

Fantastic venue!
The Allan House is a gorgeous and historic venue in Austin. Julianna was responsive and helpful during the entire planning process. We used quite a few of their recommended vendors and were very impressed by how flawlessly they worked together to help make our wedding wishes a reality.
The winter tent was beautiful and allowed us to not worry about the weather on our wedding day. The tent provided an intimate atmosphere for the ceremony and reception and was easy to decorate.
I would HIGHLY recommend the Allan House to anyone looking for a memorable wedding or event venue. -

The Allan House was the first and only venue I looked at! I fell in love with the location, trees, and character. I’m so happy I chose to get married there! Communication with Juliana was very easy, she always responded in a timely manner and answered all my questions! The only downside to the venue is that it doesn’t include parking. However, I still highly recommend!-

Allan House made us feel special
Allan House was a perfect whimsically romantic venue for our January wedding. It was definitely not your hotel banquet room or rustic barn. What really attracted us to Allan House was the location in downtown Austin as well as the complimentary heated tent during the winter months (Dec - Feb). We had a lot of out of town guests and decided that a wedding right after the holidays would be the most ideal for everyone. A lot of the other venues did not offer the heated tent and it was perfect for an evening winter wedding. We also, loved the twinkly lights and majestic tree in the middle of the tent. Juliana was very communicative and easy to work with throughout the process. Allan House is truly a dream and really made our wedding day special.
We will post more pictures in a few weeks. -

Experiencing the City of Austin!
The Allan House was the perfect location for the outdoor twinkly-light wedding I have always dreamed of.
My husband and I both grew up in Illinois, so we had mostly out-of-town guests coming to Austin for our wedding. We looked at many venues in the hill country that we loved, but when it came down to it, we wanted our guests to experience the city of Austin that we loved, and having the ceremony at the Allan House did just that.
Juliana was great always quick to respond to the questions and requests we threw at her!
I loved our courtyard twinkly-light wedding - it was better than my dreams :)-

Gorgeous Wedding Venue
I got married at the Allan House in downtown Austin on September 2019. The venue is an outdoor venue so you will need to have a rain plan. However, we rented a tent through Marquee Events, who has a custom tent plan for the Allan House. It is so beautiful with the tent, lighting, and chandeliers! However, BEWARE that if you implement the rain plan, any other weddings on the same weekend must agree to the tent. This could be good because you could split the costs or bad if the other couples have bad communication.
I had about 130 guests and it did not feel crowded. The venue does require a space flip, but our catering company took care of it. My wedding pictures look so beautiful, especially the huge tree in the courtyard. I was able to rent a parking lot next to the venue for a great price. It had 50 spots. It was perfect because I got married on a Friday and did not want my guests to pay for street parking.
It was very easy to communicate with Juliana (the manager).
Note: Allan House will rent the tent for you (free) if you get married during winter.

Wedding 3.29.19
The Allan House is an incredible venue. Juliana was awesome to work with. She answered all of our emails quickly and was there for us from start to finish. The venue provides so much for the price and it was the smartest decision we made! We had the perfect weather and the backyard looked like a dream for our wedding. We picked all of our vendors through the preferred vendors list and they all were incredible and everything went smoothly the day of. I wish we could relive that night again! -

A perfect evening!
My Daughter had her wedding at the Allan House, located in the heart of Austin in April 2019. We had about 90 people and the Allan House and grounds perfectly accommodated us for the ceremony, cocktails & appetizers, dinner and dancing. It was beautiful! They provide all the tables and chairs for the evening activities. It was also very accessible for our guests with a parking lot (rented extra) right by the venue. Additionally, they worked very well with all our other vendors. Juliana, the manager, was informative, responsive and always eager to help. I would look forward to having another event at the Allan House.

What a special place!
The Allan House was the 2nd venue we looked at and as soon as we left the tour, our minds were made up. The venue is beautiful, elegant, and the outdoor area is heavenly. Juliana was our point of contact from the beginning. She is great with answering any questions and very informative about the whole process. It can get overwhelming! But she helped us out.
Our wedding was just how we imagined it. We had the wedding ceremony and reception outdoors with cocktail hour and cake cutting indoors. The bride and groom suites are spacious. We were able to keep the bouquets in my room and all of my bridesmaids got dressed in there. Everything went smoothly on the day of! We had a blast at the Allan House. And we received our deposit back swiftly.
The only time I ever had frustration was not directly with the Allan House but with the tent rental and due to our lack of research on prices/process of said rental. We didn't need the tent so it was all perfectly fine in the end. It would NOT have changed our decision to go with the Allan House by any means..I just would have prepared the budget to account for that possibility. So this gripe is just a heads up to do your research and be prepared for it if you have a budget you need to stay in. We reserved a tent just in case and were able to do a tent share with the other brides so it cut our deposit down to 1/3. The tent share process itself is pretty annoying..But that's more of an issue with the rental companies.-

Charming and unique
We got married at the Allan House last month and found the venue director to be very helpful and flexible on your timeslot. The venue is unique and conveniently located near many churches if you want to have your ceremony elsewhere. It was beautiful and your most lucky if you score great weather. We had a great time and while it is unique and different from other venues, we found it to be a nice change from venues that have everything in one room. They say guest count 150, but we had more and it was fine, granted, we also did not have to turnover the space since our ceremony was across the street at the church. We had to use the tent due to rain in the morning, but I think it is more preferable and pretty without the tent if you add some chandelier touches. -

The Allan House was the perfect venue for our formal romantic wedding! The house is gorgeous and we used the winter clear tent in the back which was my dream come true! As soon as we became engaged, i began looking at different venues. The Allan House was the only venue that was cost efficient and still beautiful that I could find! It was also dog friendly (important to us - our dog was our ring bearer!) I loved all of the antique furniture on the inside of the house and the amazing trees in the courtyard. Be aware though that you may have to pay for a rain tent, this venue does not provide that. One thing I wish I would have done was make a sign for the bridal suite. Even when we had the door shut during the cocktail hour and reception, people kept walking through there to go to the bathroom (there are other bathrooms at the venue too!) and just to sit in there when my bridal parties purses and other personal items were laying around the room. It was very weird that people did this, so I suggest to make a sign! But this is not the Allan Houses fault at all! The staff and venue were amazing and the staff was very prompt with replying to emails during the planning process! -

The Allan House was the first and only venue I saw. I immediately fell in love with the romantic aesthetic of the place. It was the perfect size for 130 guests. I also had an Indian-Hindu wedding and my husband is neither, which brought its own logistical challenges. Juliana was very knowledgeable about how to navigate our unique situation. We had a baraat (groom's procession) down San Antonio to the house and we had a mandap, which is similar to a hoopah, in the courtyard. I got tons of compliments on the venue. The Allan House is a one of a kind place, and if your wedding is 150 guests or under, this place has the best value and aesthetic. That they don't impose vendors on you is an added bonus. The Allan House perfectly matched our personalities and felt very Austin. Hotel ballrooms are vastly overrated, especially when compared to this beautiful space. -

The most special venue there ever was! Once my husband and I toured the Allan House at one of their open house events, and met the wonderful Juliana, we knew that the Allan House was the place for us. We picked a late February wedding date so that we could have access to their glorious winter tent. And boy was it glorious. We had about 90 guests attend our wedding, and it was the most magical day of our lives. We worked with Loot Vintage Rentals to add the most beautiful custom draping to the ceiling of the tent, and it made it even more perfect! The lighting and the trees with the candlelight on the tables made for the most romantic and stunning event we could have ever dreamed of! Not to mention, since we do not live in Austin, we leaned on Juliana a lot for advice on vendors and where to go and even where to have our after party! She was so professional and always responded so quickly and with genuine care. We are so lucky to have been able to work with her and the rest of our vendors to make the day absolutely perfect! The Allan House is everything we wanted in a venue - unpretentious, elegant and unique! I've never seen another venue quite like it. It's so charming and special and we couldn't imagine being married anywhere else. We give it the highest recommendation! You will not regret it! All of our love to Juliana and the Allan House staff for giving us the most wonderful canvas to build our fairytale! -

The reception at the Allan House was perfect. Just big enough to allow indoor and outdoor enjoyment the whole evening. It was hot, humid and it actually rained (after the meal service, thank goodness).
Half of the wedding guests enjoyed dancing in the gentle rain (!) - the other half loved watching from inside -
in the air conditioning.
PERFECT. The charming old house was a treat in itself, and the lighting on the trees outside was magical.
It is a one of a kind venue. Everyone in attendance absolutely loved it. -

My husband and I chose the Allan House as our wedding venue for our ceremony and reception this past May. The original date we had been looking at was already booked (almost a year and a half out!) so we asked for their calendar. Juliana was my main point of contact for the wedding planning process. She kindly reminded me that SXSW was going on during one of the weekends I was looking at which I would not have thought about had she not said anything. We picked our date and signed the contract and from there on out, any time I had questions all I had to do was email Juliana. She was always extremely prompt in responding and was a great resource for recommendations and honest opinions. The main part of the venue is the outside patio which is uncovered (if not during the winter months), so I highly recommend having a rain tent plan which can be costly but well worth it. Our venue day of was beautiful and I could not be more thankful for the wonderful and courteous staff at the Allan House! -

We recently had our wedding at this venue in early March. I absolutely loved the location and the atmosphere the venue had to offer. However, I do have to warn about the cobblestone as the ground is uneven and very slippery. I had two guests fall at my wedding, including my 80 year old grandmother. Please inform guests of the uneven flooring. Because the venue is mostly outdoors, you will need to keep in mind the price for renting a tent. I found working with the tenting companies to be horribly unprofessional and they never responded back to inquiries about their products. Overall, the location and atmosphere of the venue is beautiful and I was very happy how our wedding day turned out. -

We found this venue after going thru many outside facilities. It was perfect for the size of wedding that we had and it went perfectly with the bride and groom's personalities. The weather cooperated that evening so everyone had a great time. The staff from the beginning was great with not only educating us about the facilities, the appearance, the wedding and reception set up, and the overall operation, but also helped with the additional vendors since this was a destination wedding and the guests raved about the ones we chose. The day of the wedding went relatively smooth. My suggestion to anyone is the one hour setup time before the wedding can be tight if any vendor runs late so I would suggest to arrange an addition hour just in case. The lite arrangement and décor was perfect and we can't wait to see the pictures. The value for the price is excellent and I would surely recommend this venue to anyone when looking for an out door venue in Austin. -

I had my ceremony and reception at the gorgeous Allan House in April and had such a pleasant experience throughout the whole process! The girls at The Allan House - Juliana and Alex - were both extremely helpful and so sweet to work with. I needed to change my original date and Juliana worked with me to reschedule and was so helpful throughout everything. She was such a joy to work with! I absolutely LOVED the venue. It was perfect for the wedding that I had envisioned -- elegant garden -- and many of my family and friends raved about how much they loved the venue. I wanted something different than just a hotel ballroom -- and I wanted a venue that was already pretty and didn't need a lot of additional decor. The Allan House was perfect! The lighting and chandeliers in the trees and the garden and home are gorgeous without adding anything! I loved having the ceremony and reception in the garden and using the house for cocktail/cutting cake... I almost felt like I was at my own home! I also loved the location of the venue ... all of our guests were from out of town so it was nice to be downtown but have the feel of being not downtown! If you're looking for an intimate, simple but elegant, and absolutely gorgeous venue I would highly recommend the Allan House. Working with everyone at the Allan House was a wonderful experience and I loved having my wedding there!! -

We got married at the Allan House two weeks ago and it was a smashing success! Every guest at our wedding flew across the country to get here, so there was no way I was getting married anywhere but downtown - did not want people to have to 'commute' to our wedding.
Our communication with the Allan House was always very prompt, they always answered questions immediately, and were both upfront about their policies and gracious. I don't recall ever encountering a policy that I thought was problematic. They're very strict on the time of your rental, but I'm not sure that would be different anywhere else (esp downtown). Otherwise, you can use any vendors you want - which was extremely important to us.
Our wedding was on the patio with about 135 guests. I believe they can hold near 200, but I probably wouldn't host a party too much bigger than 135 - at least for my taste. I didn't want to use their typical hanging lanterns for our party and they were totally cool with us switching it up a bit. I would highly recommend this venue for anyone looking to get married in downtown Austin - it's intimate and beautiful and CLOSE! -

We just had our wedding ceremony and reception at the Allan House this October (2011) and it was absolutely perfect. Natalie and the entire staff was extremely helpful from beginning preparation to the wedding completion. Our guests were blown away by the elegance and comfort that they felt while enjoying a wedding, in the city. If you live in Austin, or plan to wed in Austin, then the Allan House is one of the best and a must see. Thanks again for everything - it was a perfect weekend! -

I had my wedding here on 02/20/2010. Let me just say- I LOVED everything about The Allan House. Whitney was an amazing help. From the time we first came to visit to after the wedding. I emailed her with several questions and she always responded promptly and was so understanding. The house was beautiful. The ambiance was just what I wanted for our evening sophisticated yet simple wedding with a bit of southern flair. The courtyard is beautiful with the twinkle lights around- so romantic. Whitney was there the day of the wedding and contributed to how smoothly everything ran. I liked that I wasn't tied down to a certain caterer, florist or bakery- I could choose whomever I wanted. I was given a list of suggested vendors but was free to choose from that list or anywhere else. We had about 150 people and I was worried it might be tight but it was perfect!! I HIGHLY suggest checking this place out- plus the location is great. Downtown-perfect for out of towners. -

We cannot Thank the Allan House enough for saving us! We planned our wedding in about 3 months because of a horrible misunderstanding with our previous venue, leaving us in a lurch. I was panicked and unsure of how to begin a new search for a wedding site and the Allan House made it so very easy! They invited us to an open house, which happened to be that evening, where we could see what the venue might look like, it was magical! The staff is more than just friendly, they make you feel like they are actually your friends and look out for your every need! They listen to your ideas and helped to make them happen! They offer a gorgeous clear heated tent during some of the winter months (our wedding was Dec. 18) so that you are still able to dance in the moonlights, and tables and chairs are included (which in this economy was a huge bonus)! The venue is absolutely beautiful with its classic elegance, yet they embrace the natural beauty of the property! My husband was born and raised in Nashville, TN and I was born in San Antonio, it was the perfect match for our styles! They added extra lighting in the tent and the twinkle lights on the trees made such a romantic setting. They know what they are doing, they help you know what to expect, they know how to help, and most importantly they know how to put you at ease during such a busy planning period! -

We were able to have a truly intimate and personal day under the backdrop of nearly breathtaking natural beauty. The lighting at sunset was amazing. Our guests couldn't say enough. From the very first time we walked past the Allan House, even before my husband & I were engaged, we both knew that was the venue for our wedding. It's in the heart of downtown, but still has a very intimate and classy feel. The courtyard is just stunning and even though it was cold & rainy on our wedding weekend, it turned out beautifully and I can't imagine getting married anywhere else! Juliana is super great to work with: very responsive and informative. And we most of our vendors were on their preferred vendor list - which made the planning much easier! -

I highly recommend the Allan House to any couple looking for the feel of an outdoor wedding with the convenience of being in the heart of the city. It was the ideal compromise for our reception. I wanted a warm, elegant, yet unpretentious outdoor site. My husband didn't want our guests to have a long drive back to their hotel and wanted them to have the option of catching a cab.
The beautiful Victorian style home is extremely well maintained with a beautiful courtyard space. Ours was a winter wedding (January 29) with a 120 guests. It was the perfect sized space; the courtyard easily fit enought tables and chairs for all of our guests while stilling leaving room for a large dance floor. Plus as it was winter the price included a custom heated tent. I do agree with my fellow reviewer that for the rental price Allan House should have included rental of an adjacent parking lot (which we had to do ourselves, but they did provide information to facilitate the process). Nevertheless it was a great deal for a 7hr block of time, which I found to be much longer than many comparable reception sites.
Lastly, the staff at the Allan House was exceptional. Whitney was very prompt to respond to phone calls and emails. She made sure I didn't forget any details as I was considering the space and flow within it. As there were no other events that weekend, they were flexible with us on delivery times so that we wouldn't be charged higher fees. And while we went with almost all recommended vendors (their list of suggestions was great by the way), when we wanted Salt Lick catering they were very accomodating and helpful.
We loved having our reception at the Allan House and we think you will too! -

Dreamy Downtown Austin Venue
We were married here in early December 2021 and had the most perfect day. Juliana helped with every question we had, the space was exactly what we imagined, and our guests couldn't stop talking about how magical the space was. With the December booking, we received the "Winter Tent" free of charge and it was perfectly temperature controlled. We had 150 guests and they all fit with some room to spare. This venue is easy to access from any hotel downtown and has ample parking included if needed at a nearby lot. Highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for a central Austin location without the crazy downtown pricing. 10/10! -

The Allan House was a beautiful venue for our wedding! It has so much character and was a gorgeous location. We wanted an outdoor wedding that was close to downtown Austin but that still felt like it had character and natural beauty.
I only have 2 caveats about this location.
1. Lack of flexibility. They will not allow anyone inside the building until your 8 hour slot starts. So we could not store flowers or a cake or anything there. That created a lot of rush for pictures & set-up all at the same time.
2. Tent. We got very lucky that it didn't rain on our wedding day. But trying to find a tent was a nightmare. They told us that we could split the down payment for a tent with the other bride on our weekend (we were Friday, they were Saturday). But it wasn't going to rain on Friday and it was going to rain on Saturday. So the Saturday bride was stuck with the whole bill.
But overall they were very accommodating and so friendly. The venue is one of the best in Austin! -

My husband and I loved everything about the Allan House. Juliana was great to work with, and any question I emailed her with was responded to by the next day at the latest. Our guests absolutely loved the venue, and even though I haven't gotten our professional pictures back yet, I know that venue made a beautiful backdrop based on what we've seen from our friends. The price was a little high for our budget if we wanted a Saturday wedding, so we decided to go with a Friday and it was definitely worth it.
The only downsides to the venue I can think of are parking, and the fact that you can't get ready there if you're also wanting to do a first look without adding some time to your contract. They do offer parking lots to rent, and my husband and I just paid for the additional 30 minutes so we could get in the house early, so clearly they weren't big enough issues to send us elsewhere! -

It's the MOST gorgeous venue!!!!! You don't get as much "stuff" in your contract as you would some other venues, but it is worth it. They are very upfront about what is and isn't included - no surprises or guess work! They were amazing and the place is simply beautiful. My March wedding had the perfect vintage location, the photographers got amazing shots (and loved the location), and everyone kept talking about the beauty of the venue. I never had a problem reaching anyone, and it the chairs were set up exactly as I asked! The venue was the perfect size for my 100 person wedding, cozy without feeling too crowded! So worth it, and I'm glad that we choose The Allan House!!! -

I was an out of town bride looking for a venue to host the ceremony and reception in one unique place. Allan House fit the bill perfectly. It is larger enough for all to be comfortable, charming, accomodating and affordable. Whitney is great to work with and she helped make our big day special. We had planned on a outdoor wedding, but when rain struck and continued the entire evening the Allan House was flexible and accomodating. It's enough to stress about the rain as a bride, helps a lot to have a venue and manager that you can count on. If you are seeking a unique and charming venue, check out the Allan House. All of guests fell in love with it. -

The Allan House is a beautiful wedding venue! The courtyard is decorated with white lights and white japanese lanterns, so all we needed to add were candles and flowers to make it the perfect place for our wedding! My only complaint was that for the money, I didn't expect to have to rent a parking lot, but rent a parking lot, I did. -

I loved this little gem in Austin for my October wedding of about 70 people. All the guests are still raving about the location and the outdoor reception under the stars and twinkle lights. The layout is perfect for a wedding allowing special areas for the ceremony, reception, cake and cocktail hour.
The staff at the Allan House is more than professional; they are quick to respond to emails or phone calls and can help you with anything. Juliana was a lifesaver for my wedding. She spent tones of time with me on the phone and via email the week of the wedding and after the wedding as the weather started misbehave for my wedding.
Pros:
1) Downtown Austin – everyone can take taxis or walk back to the hotels/6th street.
2) Perfect layout. Guests flow was perfect during cocktail hour and the reception.
3) Little decorations needed. The place is the true focus.
4) Amazing photo opportunities
5) Flexibility in choosing wedding vendors including stocking the bar.
6) Amazing staff that listens to you, helps you and cares. Everything I talked to them about during the final walkthrough was perfectly executed by their staff.
7) Staff was extremely flexible in my last minute/day of requests to be on standby for setting up the chairs and hanging the white paper lanterns.
Cons:
1) No rain plan. Tents are expensive (about 3k, make sure you work with Juliana before you sign a contract and tent sharing is not always an option).
2) Set hours. You do not get all day access to venue.

Perfect Venue to create your dream wedding!
The Allan House was the first and only venue we looked at. We knew immediately that this was where we wanted to hold our wedding. Juliana was an absolute pleasure to work with and helped us to make our wedding dreams come true. With the tent being included in the winter package we were able to deck out the Allan House and bring our vision to life! We would recommend the venue to anyone looking to have a magical wedding in the trees! -

Beautiful ceremony + reception venue
AMAZING WEDDING CEREMONY & RECEPTION VENUE!! Excellent price for downtown location. Juliana (manager) is super cool and extremely helpful. I would book it all over again. The flip of the tent from ceremony to reception was flawless and so perfect. It could not have gone any smoother. My heart is so happy thinking about it.
They are pretty strict about entering and exiting venue (before and after wedding), so just know that. But, we were able to figure it out and I still highly recommend them! -

We had our wedding at the Allan House in February and it was wonderful! We wanted to find a place in the heart of Austin so our guests could enjoy the city, and the Allan House was perfect for that. Also, the house is so unique that it doesn't require a ton of extra decor. The winter tent is great, and included in the price of the venue during the winter months. It was nice to not be concerned about weather in such an unpredictable month. Juliana is very responsive via email, and you can pretty much go by any time during the day to check the place out. We didn't have any trouble during the day of the wedding with access to the house or any problems with the tent heating process.
I suppose a downside for some would be that the venue is pretty small, which we actually preferred, but I saw somewhere advertised that they could have 200+ guests in the tent seated with a large dance floor.. I imagine that would be pretty snug. It was perfect for our 110 guests with a buffet and dance floor. The ground IS very uneven, and there are a lot of stairs, so if you have a lot of older family or people with physical disabilities coming, this might not be the best venue.
Overall I was very happy with the Allan House as my wedding venue and would definitely recommend it! -

I LOVED my experience with the Allan House. It was the most gorgeous setting for our 150-guest wedding, but probably could not seat that many more people comfortably. All of our guests are still raving about the gorgeous venue. The staff was all very friendly and easy to work with as well. I would highly recommend it! -

The Allan House is a beautiful venue inside and out. We were hoping for no rain but it did rain a little which was a bit stressful because we were not allowed to put up a tent since the wedding the next day on Sunday did not want one. So, keep this information in mind when booking to be sure to ask any questions on a rain plan and if another bride can make that descision even if you booked first.
Overall my experience was wonderful and all the girls at The Allan House were very quick to respond to emails and phone calls. -

The Allan House is a beautiful place to have an outdoor event. It has lights in the trees and on the stairs for evening events. The vendor is very professional and nice to work with! They do have a few rules (mainly dealing with cleaning the facility), but they are very flexible when it comes to catering and cake providers, which is VERY nice (a lot of venues require you to have certain caterers, which is very annoying).
You may think this venue is expensive, but it is definitely worth the money (and actually way cheaper than a bunch of reception venues we looked at). They even provide a tent for free during winter months! We received a ton of compliments about how beautiful the place was, and it made for a very beautiful and memorable wedding reception! -

I know there are not a lot of reviews out there for the Allan House, and I admit, I searched desperately for them since we planned our wedding from out-of-state. I can tell you all honestly, the Allan House was the perfect venue for our wedding. We had only visited the venue twice before the big day, so we were just as impressed as our guests at how beautiful everything looked! The ceremony was held in the last few hours of October daylight, and the sun shone beautifully through the tree branches. At night, the lights in the trees added such a nice atmosphere to the reception. Our 75 guests had plenty of room to celebrate, between the outdoor area, the porches, and the charming interior. We will be forever grateful for the courteous and accommodating staff, and for their help making our wedding absolutely perfect! -

Why we picked the Allan House
Was looking for a venue while living out of state that was central to both our families. The Allan House was the 2nd venue I looked at and I fell in love with it immediately site unseen. I really wanted a garden style wedding and the courtyard area they have was exactly what I wanted. We also fell in love with the large porch that fit our dinner table perfectly. It is such a lovely venue. Also loved how welcoming they were with us being an LGBTQ+ couple. -

This venue is AMAZING. It's a beautiful, old historic home with a coziness that just can't be described. We were married in the courtyard under the trees with the breeze blowing all around us. There are twinkle lights around the trees and white lanterns hanging from the trees, very romantic. We got so many compliments on how lovely the venue was. You must check it out!! The staff was professional and prompt in responding to questions. -

Beautiful historic venue in downtown Austin
The Allan House is a beautiful venue that’s easily accessible within downtown Austin and ideal if you want your wedding near the heart of the city. Since our wedding was held during autumn, we had concerns about getting married on a UT game day given the traffic considerations for our guests, but everyone had a smooth experience getting to the venue. Juliana was highly responsive to questions throughout our planning process and was very accommodating to our requests. We were grateful to work with her in planning our event, and she did a great job working with all of our vendors. The venue parking was more than adequate for our 120 guests, and with proper directions, no one encountered difficulties on where to go. We do recommend additional lighting for anyone planning an afternoon outdoor wedding as the provided lighting is only enough to help move around - some of our guests did have a little bit of difficulty reading speeches outdoors as it progressed into the evening. If you want an outdoor wedding that is intimate and private within downtown Austin, this is the venue to go with! -

The Allan House was the ideal venue for my husband and me, however, I could see how it might not be for other brides who want to be less involved in the details of their reception. The venue is beautiful and is essentially a blank slate, which was great, because I wanted to design the decor.
My one slight criticism is that The Allan House is really intimately tied to their preferred vendor list and in one particular case, was a source of frustration. We were the first spring wedding without the "winter tent", but the weather was still chilly in Austin. We were at the mercy of Marquee Rentals, the owners of the tent, who are expensive and a bit snippy over e-mail. They wanted to charge us $1K NOT to take their tent down, another $250 to replace the walls of the tent they had removed and $500 to take down the tent after our Saturday night wedding, since there was a Sunday wedding at Allan House. It left a bad taste in our mouth. We made the decision to forego the tent and pray for sunshine and we got really lucky. We saved $1750 and we had really beautiful weather.
On the other hand, the preferred vendor list included our awesome DJ and our bartending service, who was completely buttoned up and true professionals.
I would highly recommend The Allan House to any bride that wants a beautiful, simple venue (with a great downtown location) and the ability to put her own touches on it. -

Beautiful venue, could be more forgiving during the pandemic
I would give The Allan House 4.5 stars. It is a beautiful venue in downtown Austin. Parking is easy for a smaller wedding. The outdoor courtyard and beautiful overhanging tree is beautiful for a wedding. There is a bridal suite on the main floor, and a groom's suite in the basement. 1/4 star knocked off because the bridal suite was not the best for makeup application. I think most brides get ready in another location, but since all of my bridesmaids were traveling into town I wanted us all in the same place and not have to lug our things across town. The bridal suite consists of a bathroom, couch/seating area and what looks to be a dining area near the front. The HMUA found that the only room with good light was the front dining room, which made it so that guests could see us all getting ready upon entering.
The price does include many rentals of which we used bistro tables for cocktail hour, and the round tables and matching chairs for the ceremony and reception. It is a popular venue in Austin, so many of our vendors were already familiar with the place which made things run smoothly.
I knock off another 1/4 star rating due to price. I booked the Allan House after cancelling my overseas wedding. There was a great discount for a few months, and we decided to book. There was a second wave happening in Austin, so we decided to postpone by a few months. While they were easy to work with, they were also quick to add additional charges on top of the deposit already paid to reschedule. An additional charge for postponing during a global pandemic? I would have hoped they would be more flexible to people's need to postpone due to a rise in cases. The Allan House's reply:
Hi Samantha! We loved working with you on your wedding, and your pictures are stunning! Thank you so much for choosing The Allan House.
Your insight on the bridal suite rooms & your experience having your hair and make up done on our property is invaluable, so thank you for including this. As you mentioned, most of our clients do not choose to have their hair and make up done on-site, and if they do they are typically finished hours before guests are set to arrive, so this isn't something we have run into previously. However it is good information to have, and we will be sure to share that knowledge with future clients who have similar timelines to yours.
I am sorry to see you've knocked off 1/4 of a star for the price of the venue. When you booked your original August date with us, you were offered a 50% discount because of the quick turnaround before your event & everything happening with the pandemic. When you postponed your wedding to November, we did still honor that 50% discount, however the price increase reflected your move from an off-peak August date to a peak-season November date. I am sorry that you felt like we were quick to add additional charges, as we try to always be transparent with our pricing.
If you have additional comments or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Sincerely,
Juliana Ross

The Allan House is a beautiful venue, however, we did not have a very good experience with them.
First of all, the venue says they have capacity for 225, but then only provide chairs and tables for 150. So we had to go out of our way to find matching tables and chairs to rent just to fill their capacity.
We also had to rent extra hours from them. I know a lot of venues do this, but I found it frustrating. if they only have one event each day, why not just let us use it the whole day? So, we purchased extra hours so we could arrive at 2pm, have our wedding start at 4pm, and be done by 10pm.
The day of the wedding, we all showed up at 2pm- the wedding party, family, photographers, baker, florist, coordinators.. and no one was there. The doors were locked. We looked at our contract and confirmed that our entry time was 2pm. We had no phone number other than the office number for the venue management, and there was no one in the office. We were finally able to contact the venue management (Juliana) when our coordinator found her cell phone number through some mutual contacts. She had forgotten what our contract said and was not going to show up until 4. They finally arrived at 3 to unlock the door and there was an incredibly loud alarm that went off till about 3:30.
The rest of the wedding went as planned, and the Allan House refunded us back for 1 hour that we purchased because of the mishap (when they sent the refund check, it wasn't even signed so we had to go to the venue to get it signed). However, the whole thing was handled very poorly and I couldn't believe we didn't even have a number to contact under an emergency.
For the cost of the venue and lack of professionalism (they often didn't answer the phone and would email multiple days later), I would not recommend this venue. -

Insensitive and not flexible surrounding COVID-19
Don't get me wrong, The Allan House is gorgeous! That is why it gets two stars. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 and both my and my partners job loss because of it, we had to cancel our wedding. Several of our guests have also lost their jobs, and would not be able attend the wedding also. However, even through an international pandemic, we are not able to get a refund of our deposit from the venue (even though we cancelled several months ahead of the wedding). It would be nice for a business to have some grace through such a hard time, much like our other vendors, but The Allan House does not. I would not recommend this venue. The Allan House's reply:
Thank you so much for letting us know how you feel. We are truly sorry for the hardships you and your partner have been facing surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak, and we're sorry that you won't be hosting your wedding at our venue this October. I can only hope your feedback helps us improve our communication with clients about the policies in our contract.
This pandemic has been extremely difficult for so many individuals and small businesses alike, but we have been striving to serve our clients as best we can as we navigate this difficult time together. We have been facilitating postponements for many of our events, and I would be happy to discuss that option with you, if you choose to reschedule your wedding. Please reach out to me directly (call 512-478-8653 or email events@allanhouse.com) if this could be a possible solution.
Respectfully,
Juliana Ross -
