Best. Caterers. Ever.

If I could give 10 stars I would. They are so accommodating for what you want for your wedding and Chef Mike is so talented! The brisket, OMG, the brisket is to die for! We loved everything we tasted and narrowing it down for the wedding was hard! The extra special reason we love Tasteful Occasion/Kool Daddy's so much, is Melissa. She is the kindest, sweetest, most helpful person. She became a second mom during the wedding planning process and made sure I never had to stress about the catering. She made sure my husband and I were well taken care of the whole reception!

Absolutely fantastic on every aspect!

Like so many others during the 2020 pandemic, we held a small family ceremony instead of our large wedding we had planned. We were scrambling to plan for our second wedding when we found Mike and his team at Tasteful Occasion. They bent over backwards to help us out at every turn. Responses were very quick and accommodating. Every detail question we asked was thoroughly discussed and answered! They were available whenever we needed to get in touch with them, from the menu planning, changes (like adding tables, chairs, and linens), and helping to coordinate picking up the rented items the next day. The service was outstanding and the the food was even better! So many compliments from our guests and multiple requests to try to get the recipe of our unbelievably tasty pork loin. We also had a wedding cake made and it was absolutely above and beyond our expectations. If all of that wasn’t enough, the pricing was extremely fair! During the Pandemic, when we have had so many vendors show their true colors, it was very refreshing to do business with high character people. Tasteful Occasion completely knocked it out of the park for us! Highly recommended.

Extremely relieved and happy

I had a company event with Filet and Ahi tuna. The food was amazing. During these hard times Tasteful Occasion made sure we were taken care of and treated us with such care. Thank you!

Tasteful Occasion does amazing work

Tasteful Occasion did an amazing job on my sons wedding. The food was prepped, hot, and gorgeous. The wait staff was very polite and helpful with doing extra clean up that they did not have to do. We were very please doing business with this company.

We were very happy with the services we received from Tasteful Occasion. Everything tasted great and looked great. Chef Mike and Robin were a pleasure to deal with on planning. The caterers worked well together, and kept tbe buffet stocked and clean.

Tasteful occasion did a great job on my daughters wedding. I was impressed with all the extra things they did like cleaning up the guests empty plates, and they even helped us take the trash to all the dumpsters, they helped us light all the center pieces before the reception began. I'm very happy I booked with them.

Top notch, all the way. From service to food, this place is absolutely incredible. We had a very small wedding with a pretty intricate menu, and Chef Mike delivered above and beyond. From my initial contact with Chef TJ, who gave me a very reasonably priced initial estimate during our very first conversation, to dealing with Chef Mike several times in person, I truly felt like our little event was top priority for them.
Whatever you have in mind for your menu, they can do it. We wanted an Asian theme, and Chef Mike blew us out of the water with a totally custom menu including handmade Udon noodles, stellar vegetarian options, perfectly cooked steak, and incredibly delicious sushi.
We had our wedding in Hocking Hills, and it was no problem for the staff to deliver and set up for us with minimal instruction. Everyone raved about the food and I was asked again and again who did the catering.
Food is always an important decision when planning an event, and the next time I have need of a caterer, wherever I am in Ohio, I know I can count on Tasteful Occasion to meet and surpass all of my expectations. Thank you for being such a wonderful part of our special day!

The food and service was on point! Tasteful Occasion is very budget friendly which made me think the quality wouldn't be so amazing, but Chef proved us wrong at the tasting and on our wedding day! Robyn was very helpful answering any questions and making my life less stressful! and the staff was professional, friendly, and accommodating on our day. Thanks again!

We put something together at the last minute, and Mike was very accommodating and prompt in helping. Most importantly, the BBQ was fantastic!! I would recommend Kool Daddy's to anyone that would listen. The BBQ and sides were top notch and the staff here loved it!! We will use them again for sure.

Tasteful Occasion was great to work with planning my wedding reception. The food from Chef Mike was delicious! The display looked gorgeous. The caterers we friendly and accommodating. Overall, I couldn’t have asked for anything more. Also, we got our linens through them and they even came and helped set them out with my parents before the reception.

Our office has used Tasteful Occasion twice now and the overall experience was fabulous! Robyn was a pleasure to work with on the ordering front end, during delivery and followed up quickly with some questions I had. The added value includes not just the pricing of the quality food but all the utensils, necessary condiments, etc... that you may not think of but they do. The food was superb and I am confident that for a small, medium or large scale event - they have my baby back ribs!!!!

We had the Lasagna and Baked Ziti and it was DELICIOUS!!!! Everything was set out with nice presentation. They were extremely professional in set up and clean up. They were very responsive to make sure nothing ran out and everything stayed nice and hot. I would definitely use them again for a future event.

I just have a few words to say to Chef Mike and to the whole team. I want to thank you for putting your whole effort towards my wedding. In the beginning we gave Chef Mike our ideas of the favorite food we had. We trusted him to create our own menu. We had smoked rustic lamb as our hors d'oeuvres. For entrées we had smoked brisket, which I've never had brisket like this before, prime rib, and a smoked chicken with a Spanish lime pico and cream sauce. I've never heard of this chicken dish before but the chicken was so tender and so juicy I don't think you can get it anywhere else. The house salad came with the package so we actually had three sides with our package. So the variety of food and the amount of food was awesome. The food was absolutely amazing and Chef Mike and his team of wonderful chefs made the food look beautiful and it tasted wonderful. Robin thank you for being so open and helping us with the ideas of our wedding. You executed our vision perfectly and we cannot thank you enough. We did meet all four of the owners of the company and every one of them seemed to be so grateful and appreciative for being a part of my day. This company made me feel as if I was the most important person in the world. I just want to thank you and I could've not been any more happier. Thank you for being our friend and most of all thank you for catering our food.

Thank you for creating a wonderful experience with my family and guests. Your food was the star of the show. Robyn the co-owner and coordinator made sure everything was perfect and stress free through this process. I was definitely what you call a "bridezilla" but Robyn made sure that she did everything she could to make it easy. When we met the main Chef, we did not know he was an owner as well. He made sure that our experience was not about him or anyone else other than my husband and I. Not to mention, his food was outstanding. We had the smoked chicken and Brisket as our entrees and the meat was so tender and juicy. The chefs also made sure that they made plenty of food. We had quite a bit of food left over which made our guests so happy. The clean up was also appreciated given the fact they made sure to help out with cleaning up the venue. Tasteful Occasion was so helpful with everything. My wedding day was perfect and my family and friends had such a great time.

Wonderful people that work here. They went out of their way for my daughters wedding. You definately get what ypu paid for and more. I did not have a budget because i wanted my daughter to have the best wedding. But even though i had steak and seafood, linens, upscale hors d' ovres, the price was amazing and incredible. Thank you for taking care of my family.

Tasteful Occasion provided catering service for our wedding last month. They did a fantastic job. When we first met Chef Mike he was so helpful and understanding. Our wedding reception was for about 200 people. Everything was wonderful. Food, service, linens, staff was all great.

Hello I wanted to extend my appreciation to tasteful occasion. My only daughter just got married and Chef Mike and his team took care of us completely. The first thing they wanted to do was meet any budget that I might’ve had. I really didn’t care about meeting a budget as I’ve been saving for my daughter‘s wedding for quite some time. And I believe that if you’re getting married this is the one day that you should splurge for your daughter or for yourself. The only concern I had was the food being perfect and the service been great. The food was absolutely amazing. I have tried a lot of barbecue but this by far is the best brisket that I have ever tasted. The Korean wings that they made was something that I’ve never tried before and every buddy love them. The caterers passed the appetizers around and was very professional with everybody. We also had a whole hog in place and I have had a couple whole hog events before but the meat was completely perfectly cut. And it was really cool to see the chef do a presentation for the guests. The drink dispensers they provided with ice and cups and they had a caterer they’re mixing the lemonade fresh from actual lemons. I thought that was pretty cool. As I said earlier I was not concerned with any budget because the final balance was already ridiculously amazing . Also the chef and his team was so easy to work with. Not once did they not answer any of my phone calls and they clearly cared about our event because they followed up with us almost every two weeks for the past year. I want to thank tasteful occasions for a beautiful event and we appreciate everything you’ve done.

I got married on Saturday March 17th and it was memorable. We had their Brisket, pulled pork and turkey for our meats. You can tell they put extra care in the food. The Mac and cheese was the best I’ve ever had. The lamb lollipops were a huge hit as our hors d ouevres. Robyn and Chef Mike were so easy to work with and they met my budget so perfectly. This is a great team and two of my best friends are booking them for their weddings this year. Chef Mike made a separate plate for my sister who is vegan. Thank you so much Tasteful Occasion for being a part of my wedding.

This is a very responsive and professional outfit. I called last minute to coordinate a safety luncheon and they really went above and beyond. Excellent food!

We were completely satisfied with our dealings with Tasteful Occasion. Normally never give anyone 5 Starts but found nothing that was not top notch. They made allowances when we ask. They were on time. The food was good and the method of deliver was spot on. This was not a wedding. It was a Christmas dinner.

I am so glad I booked Tasteful Occasion! They worked well with my budget and always got back to me quickly! They were very accommodating during the wedding when it rained and we had to move everything inside. The food was great quality as well!!

Our office ordered pulled pork, baked beans and coleslaw and it was a hit! We will definitely place another order. It is always stressful when you have a lot of hungry people waiting for food and you always hope it gets delivered on time... IT DID!

Horrible Experience

This complaint is in regard to our wedding held on November 6th, 2021. We utilized this caterer due to the positive reviews that we had read. We paid for the services in full before the wedding. On the day of, the caterer was 1.5 hours late. We paid for 175 guests worth of food and only 135 people showed. Only about half our guests received the full plate of food. The food was cold. I received reports of guests chicken not being cooked all the way. The green beans were raw. We did not receive the bread that we paid for nor the water service. One of their staff members was caught visibly inebriated. There is venue security footage of their staff hiding venue items in bushes outside the venue, as well as venue security footage of them stealing a large cooler and two galvanized tubs that have yet to be returned to the venue despite the venues attempts to have them returned. The lead caterer, Candace, assaulted the venue owner during our reception. Their staff got into an argument with a guest of ours. Two staff members were caught outside making out when they should have been serving food to our guests. We were required to pay 195 dollars in stolen china to another rental service for our plates, mugs, and silverware. The lead caterer confronted me during the wedding and asked me to "understand that they booked five weddings that day" which would explain the lower quality/inadequacy of the food. We have attempted to contact Chef Mike via phone, text, and voice mails, as well as email regarding our concerns. We have also attempted to reach Candace via email. None of our attempts have returned any responses.

Take the advice from the bad reviews and find another vendor--it is not worth the risk with this company. I tried very hard to see the good in this company and Michael, but this is a company that is at best horribly managed, and at worst disgustingly greedy. You will likely get inexcusable communication, misleading info., and a chronic headache from dealing with it all (just like multiple other reviews here mention).

Back in February of 2021 I paid in full for a wedding in June of 2022, fast forward to May 2021 the wedding had been cancelled--I reached out to all of the vendors to ask about potential refunds since it was over a year out from the date we had booked. Michael said he would give a full refund, which was great given it was over two thousand dollars. I waited around all summer, then all fall and nothing. According to Chef Michael he had sent a check out at least three times and it "got lost" and then Venmo "must be having issues" because the return would not go through. I spoke with this man on almost a weekly basis (via phone call, text, and email), sometimes multiple times a week, with multiple lies and changing stories coming up as things went along. The standard in this regard has been pathetic.

Fast forward to November, he tells me I can come get a check from him personally because he wanted to make sure I got the return. He cancelled the day of the first time, and then told me he would be there the next day with the check. I explain that I am a little over two hours away and would have to call off work, and that there could not be any change of plans or excuses given how drawn out the entire process had been and the loss of pay from needing to take the day off to drive to Dublin. I drive to him, sit and wait, and then get the check (which was dated wrong), Michael himself confirms everything, I drive home, auto deposit the check, and it clears. A week later his bank pulls the check back and/or it bounced due to lack of funds and completely overdrafts my bank account. I tell Michael this and he promises that it will be fixed and claims that he had fraud happen to his account and that must have been the problem (convenient). Since then I have talked to him more than a multitude of times, been given contact info. to a man who claimed to be his accountant (but this seems to be fake as well), apparently three-four wires have just "had issues" making it to my bank account, and received a fraudulent wire receipt two times. Despite me speaking to both his bank and my own, this man cannot seem to figure out the issue, or he simply is a compulsive liar.

How this place is in business and how someone sleeps well at night knowing how poorly things are ran is beyond me. I am now in the process of taking things to court since this could not be handled professionally, and I encourage anyone else in a similar position to just try and get things sorted a more formal route (such as formal mediation with the DA's office or a date in small claims court--or both) rather than wasting time trying to deal with the owner of this company. If you don't have any grounds or time to pursue a court claim, take a second a write a complaint on the BBB website.

I have never written a bad review, and waited about eight months to do so when it comes to this company, I just want to let other be warned so that maybe they can avoid the effects of such poor business. Even now I feel a bit of guilt for sharing this experience, but this is the result of bad business.

Beyond tasteless customer service, professionalism, and integrity. Maybe the food is good (I wouldn't know and either way it wouldn't be worth it imo), but the ethics and communication are deplorable. Hopefully they do better or move on from this type of work.

Very Unprofessional and Lacks Responsiveness

TL;DR - Do not book with this company. They are very unprofessional and difficult to communicate with.

My husband and I booked them back in early March 2020 for our wedding in late June 2020. We loved the food at our tasting, the price, and everyone we interacted with. Chef Mike especially was extremely friendly and we felt really good about booking them. They were very accommodating due to pandemic circumstances when we wanted to move our reception celebration date, as we decided to get married with a small ceremony in April 2020. Later on, in February of 2021, we decided to cancel the postponed celebration altogether and sought to get a partial refund due to the circumstances. During this time, Chef Mike was extremely difficult to pin down for a conversation to negotiate the refund. At one point, he agreed to give us a partial refund, but wanted us to sign a non-disclosure agreement that went far beyond just not disclosing the refund. We were not comfortable signing a document like this and requested that some things be changed in the agreement. After several frustrating weeks of communication regarding this with Chef Mike, we finally disputed the charge with our credit card company. Throughout this process, Chef Mike was unprofessional in his emails, did not respond to emails or calls in a timely manner, and we had to do the vast majority of the outreach. I feel that overall, we were extremely reasonable, patient, and professional, while Chef Mike seemingly responded out of emotions.

An experience so bad they offered us $500 to not share about it.

Problems we had.
We changed the count of people down by 10 by the agreed date and they have yet to give us the check for the 10 heads we told them about ahead of time.
They brought us a wrong dish despite my wife correcting them multiple times the days just before the wedding.
Under cooked food specifically the potatoes. Multiple guests told me that they were concerned the chicken was undercooked.
Food from the invoice missing.
Ran out of food when 33% of our guests had not eaten at all.
When we reached out to them they first blamed our guests.
Then blamed us.
Then offered to reimburse us for the people who had not eaten which 40 people at 10.85 a head with their service charge and tax would have been $550.53
They then offered to give us $500 after we signed a confidentiality agreement.
Specifically that would have us sign a confidentiality agreement which stated reviews would need to be removed and the additional payment would be made upon removal. Which I can prove. Contact me at hmatthe2@ashland.edu if you want proof of it.
Afterwards they offered us the money without confidentiality agreement.
Since then they have stopped responding to us. This means that we have not received even the refund they are obligated to give us.

I wish I had paid more to be able to interact with people who are honest and care about others when they mess up.
