When going cake tasting nothing compared to the cake we tasted here. I loved how we got to create our own cake at the tasting by combining different flavors and fillings. We recommend cakes by grace to everyone even if it’s just to go in and get one cupcake. The cakes are so moist and flavorful. Highly recommend! -

Delicious And Beautiful Wedding Cake!
My husband and I had an amazing experience working with Grace and Elizabeth! They were very accommodating when we were trying to schedule our tastings during their peak wedding season (since we were planning our wedding long-distance it took several iterations of emails to schedule all our vendor meetings over the same weekend). The tasting itself went very well - my husband and I knew what individual flavors we liked but Grace helped us combine different layer and frosting flavors to create a cake that was what we wanted yet also pleasing to people who didn't want pure chocolate ;) They were very patient while we went back and forth on whether or not we wanted additional treats along with our cake every time our guest list fluctuated. Additionally, they were able to design the cake to our exact specifications by combining aspects from 3 or 4 sample pinterest cakes and using our custom cake toppers. And of course, the most important thing, the cake was ABSOLUTELY delicious! I would highly recommend them for any event in South Lake Tahoe and we will definitely be coming back for future anniversary treats :) -

Courtney Sent on 08/07/2018We didn't want an extravagant wedding cake that costs $1000, there was no way I was going to pay a lot for cake. We just wanted a delicious cake that everyone could enjoy. We sat down with Grace and told her what we had in mind and she didn't think we were crazy or cheap for not wanting a stereotypical multi tier cake. We only had about 60-65 people at the wedding so we went with a large square sheet cake and it was amazing. She put some flowers on top for color and it was perfect. We loved her cake so much, we also purchased 3 dozen cupcakes for our rehearsal dinner dessert..and oh my god..so good. Grace is known throughout South Lake Tahoe, so much so that on the morning of the wedding, the hair dresser came my house to do my hair and she spotted the cupcakes on the table and asked if those were from Grace! I thought that was so great! My one regret from the wedding was that I only got one little piece of cake. My plan on eating leftovers the morning after was ruined after my new husband sat on the box full of cake on the ride home from the wedding and ruined it all!! Use Cakes by Grace, you'll love her and the cakes!

We first tried her cake for a family members birthday and we knew that when we started planning our wedding that her and her team would be the ones we would want to make our cake and cupcakes! We set up a tasting and we ended up getting a two tier round with almond cake, chocolate ganache, and Italian buttercream for our first tier. The second tier was red velvet! We ordered smore's pops and assorted cupcakes for our guests- Irish Car Bomb, Strawberry Lemonade, Oreo, Red Velvet, Almond, and Champagne flavors! Every time we are in Tahoe and near her shop we make sure to stop by and grab a little treat for ourselves!

Katy Sent on 08/28/2017Grace makes the best cupcakes ever! We used her for our wedding cake and cupcakes and they were delicious! Best carrot cake I've ever had. She set everything up for us and made our cake table look so beautiful with our homemade cupcake stands and cake topper. She took care of everything! Any time my husband and I go back to Lake Tahoe in the future we will definitely be stopping by Cakes by Grace to say hi and grab a cupcake! -

Mysta Sent on 08/15/2017Grace was great to work with. We ended up getting a dessert table for guests which had brownies, cookies, and mini cupcakes. We also had our own 6 inch cake that she made into a book that turned out incredibly! The cake looked amazing and tasted so good! We were able to try some pieces from the dessert bar, and those were tasty too! She was very professional and flexible when I changed some items around. I was impressed with how moist the cake was days later. It was soooo good! Thank you for creating delicious desserts and being part of our wedding day Grace! :) -

Danielle Sent on 07/08/2016When having some troubles finding a good cake, our DJ recommended his personal favorite and we met with Grace. (love her!) On short notice, she put together a tasting for us and completely won us over. The passion for her work, and the quality of her on-hand samples really surprised us. Within moments, we had effectively communicated our preferred style, and Grace was able to build and expand to design our perfect cake. The mother-daughter team worked really well together to meet our needs. Sweet, light, moist and rich. Everything you are looking for in a cake. We even used them to make a surprise anniversary cake for my sister at the rehearsal dinner. Everyone spent the night complimenting the cake, and drooling over getting another one the following day. -

Melissa Sent on 10/04/2011Grace was incredibly down to earth, friendly, and best of all makes delicious cakes and goodies. She was so generous in having us try all sorts of things in her bakery when we were there for the cake tasting. We paid in full that day at the tasting -- she was so appreciative -- cake was delivered to my reception venue and set up beautifully. She even left a box with the reception venue to put the top portion of the cake in. :) A sweet lady -- delicious cake -- we did red velvet with cream cheese icing. :) -

Best cake I've ever tasted
I got a small wedding cake, seasonal mini pies, and the s’mores on a stick for my Sept. 2019 wedding dessert table. All three desserts were delicious!! The s’mores sticks were so fun, the pies were decadent, and I was still eating my wedding cake about a week later and it still tasted as amazing as it did on the day-of. My husband doesn’t even like cake (hence the small cake and other kinds of desserts) but was eating the leftovers with me every night and stealing the last bites from me! The wedding cake is pricey, but guess that's to be expected everywhere. I called Grace very last minute to supplement my venue’s very expensive and not as appealing desserts, and after a little phone and email tag to reach someone live, they were great to work with on a short timeline. Thank you so much, Grace and team, for your delicious desserts! I will definitely plan on visiting again the next time I’m celebrating in the area. -

Erin Sent on 10/24/2017Our cake and cupcakes were amazing!!! We got a delicious 6” gluten free cake and it was and had regular cupcakes for our guests. The cake was delivered on time and set up adorably. Grace also set us up for a cake tasting before the wedding and was very helpful in picking out our cake. Thank you, Grace!

Malari Sent on 03/01/2019Worst Cake Ever! An Embarrasment!
We encountered Cakes by Grace at a wedding expo, the samples were delicious so we schedule a tasting. Our tasting went very well, the cakes were moist and delicious and the frostings were velvety. We provided a couple of pictures of what we wanted for our wedding, and Grace said it wouldn't be a problem at all, they could do it no problem. They told us that there was only one spot available left for our date, and we needed to make a quick decision. As our parents were paying for the wedding, we needed to get their approval first. The estimate was a little high, but not out of line for a summer wedding. We got approval, and moved ahead with the booking. I gave the info to the parents to provide the deposit. A couple weeks later, I get a call from Grace saying they didn't receive my deposit and would release my date if it didn't come in. In a panic, I called grace and gave her my credit card to give her the deposit. She takes the info and the call ends. About half an hour later, I get another call from Grace saying the card didn't go through and I needed to give her a check. Again, panicked about losing my date, I immediately rushed a check over. A couple days later, I was checking my online banking to make sure the check went through, and I see the check has cleared AND two additional credit card charges from Cakes by Grace. I call up Grace and ask what the deal is, and she says she didn't realize that the charges went though, I can give you a check or you can apply the payment to the balance of the cake, which would be easier. I told her that was fine. Fast forward to the wedding day, cake is supposed to be delivered during the ceremony, which means I won't actually see the cake until the reception starts. Wedding went great, my husband and I are walking into the reception room, and our faces fall. In the corner is this sickly, misshapen, sad excuse of a wedding cake that looks like it was made by a toddler with some Play-doh. During our tasting, I provided pictures of what I wanted, the one included in this post (minus the middle all black tier), and they said it would be no problem. I was adamant that I wanted a clean looking cake with sharp lines. I was paying $1200 for this cake and I expected a nice finished product. The picture below shows what they delivered. I am so upset and embarrassed that this cake was at my wedding, and that my friends and family think this is what I ordered. It was the laughing stock of the wedding. It was all I could do to not burst into tears when I saw it. It still makes me tear up thinking about that ugly cake. Yes, the cake tasted good, but it seems to me that they were so overbooked on our wedding day that they threw something together last minute, almost as if it had been forgotten. I am so angry and I will tell anyone who listens not to use Cakes by Grace. SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!!!! I want my money back! -
