Every delicious dish you could ask for with flawless service
I cannot recommend Soraya (and her team)’s catering more enthusiastically, for any event but especially if you are looking for cuisine that isn’t your typical banquet fare.
When my wife and I first started planning our wedding, we agreed that delicious and personal were our top priorities for food. We’d had so many wedding meals that were *nice* - lovely service and presentation - but kind of boring and uninspired. We love to feed our friends good food that they can’t easily make or get elsewhere and wanted to reflect that in our wedding. We agree that the North African food I’d grown up eating is the best cuisine on earth and we wanted to serve that, but worried that a wedding caterer couldn’t do it justice and we might have to navigate the hassle or no-frills approach of working with a restaurant that doesn’t really do weddings.
Thankfully, we’d found an incredible wedding planner (Rachel of One Bell Designs) who assured us no compromise was necessary, because she knew just the caterer. When she shared the vast menu for SYB Events I was still a little bit skeptical, since while I saw some intriguing dishes there was still a lot of the usual wedding fare—but then I googled Soraya’s name and found the Soraya Events site with its more focused menus, and knew we had to meet with her. And we didn’t talk to any other caterers after that, because Soraya heard the vision and met each of our ideas with her own. We asked about a number of my favorites we hadn’t seen on her menus and she affirmed she could provide them with absolute confidence, and she was more than happy to tailor the service and timing to fit our very particular vision.
One of my favorite things about working with Soraya was the at-home tasting she arranged and dropped off at our house (with a complimentary bottle of wine!), which fed us for most of a week and affirmed with dish after delicious dish that we’d made the perfect choice. When it came to the wedding day, she and her team seamlessly worked with Rachel’s to set up a kitchen in our unequipped venue. Soraya’s timing was incredible; she turned up at the exact moments we needed sustenance bearing coffee, hors d’oeuvres, and full plates when we arrived at the sweetheart table that were still hot. From the iced coffee welcome with cardamom and rose water syrups to the mezze spread reception to the couscous and tagines and kofta at the buffet, every bite was delicious and distinctly North African. We lost count of the number of guests who told us it was the best wedding food they’d ever had!
My slightly jaded heart really didn’t expect our wedding to feel as special as it did, and Soraya was a huge part of that—we are so grateful! -

SYB was the caterer for our wedding which we had on October 5, 2025 in Hammond Castle, Gloucester, MA.
We are a multicultural couple (Pakistan and Bulgaria) and we are both recent immigrants to the US. We wanted a specific menu incorporating cuisine from our respective cultures, with Mediterranean focus. SYB executed perfectly - the food was diverse and absolutely delicious and we and our guests loved it. The team worked with us on the recipes and the full menu structure and turned out something truly special - the kind of food you talk about after and goes beyond your typical "fish or veal" wedding menu.
Staff was very professional and delight to work with, they really made our day feel special. Many thanks to all of them and we highly recommend SYB for your catering needs! -

Soraya and her event and catering team went above and beyond for our wedding! We had a beautiful home wedding that our guests are still talking about over a year later. Most notably, the food served at our wedding was exceptional and was a guest highlight. We asked Soraya for a variety of cuisines from several cultures with both causal and upscale options. Soraya delivered some of the best wedding food I’ve had to date. We were blown away by the taste, price point and the amount of food options they could provide. No one at our wedding went hungry as every person had something they enjoyed including our family and friends with food allergies and specific food preferences. We highly recommend the prime rib, fish and shawarma! The presentation was gorgeous and the team kept our dinner service flawless even with a large amount of guests. Pro Tip: Get the shawarma served off the spits in front of your guests as your meal or a late night snack - your guests will thank you! -

We loved the SYB catering for our reception! We wanted Mexican, Indian, Asian and Mediterranean food and SYB delivered using 3 separate chefs that specialized in those cuisines and at an affordable price point. Additionally, they will accommodate any dietary requirement, so for us, we asked for every item to be Vegan and they did so beautifully. Additionally, they got a list of all of our guests’ allergens from us and labeled all the food to indicate which allergens were present - this was so appreciated. We got so many comments from our guests that our cocktail hour food and dinner food catered by SYB was delicious! -

About 5-6 months before our wedding, our original caterer re-quoted our pricing that I had signed over a year ago and it had increased by almost 15k! I was so distraught and stressed, as you can imagine. Luckily I found Soraya through a Facebook wedding group after I had asked for a second opinion.
SHE SAVED MY WEDDING DAY.
My husband and I are Cambodian and Chinese and trying to find any upscale asian caterer in the NorthShore was darn near impossible. I had my heart set on an upscale multi-course asian banquet menu. We ended up with 10 courses!
Soraya made it happen and all the food was made on site at our venue in Peabody (the Olio).
Our guests could not stop raving about how delicious everything was!
To think I almost went with drop catering as I thought that was my only option. Thank goodness I found Soraya!
As anyone who has ever thrown a big event knows, the food will make or break an event. And Soraya's food MADE our wedding a huge success.
Soraya made sure fried foods were crispy, hot foods were HOT, and each table service was flawlessly delivered. Even our foodie families were happy with the food and were so surprised at how authentic everything tasted. We had menu items that were Chinese and Cambodian.
I would hire Soraya and her team again, and again, and again. She kept me at ease and made sure everything was flawlessly executed.

Backyard Wedding
We booked Soraya and her team to plan and cater our backyard wedding this past fall. This was easily the best decision we made for our special day!
We had our concerns about the limitations of a home wedding, which Soraya easily put to rest. Soraya was incredibly accommodating, a true expert, and such a delight to work with. Her team handled everything perfectly — the delicious menu that blended our cultures, beautiful layout and decor, all the way to the remarkably efficient cleanup job after.
We have such fond memories interacting with different members of Soraya’s team throughout the day. Our wedding went effortlessly and stress-free thanks to their incredible work. -

We were looking for a caterer that specialized in Middle Eastern cuisine, and our planner recommended Soraya. From the start, Soraya was amazing. She is responsive, thorough, and of course: her food is amazing. We have been to over 30 weddings in the past few years and we know it's very easy for the food to be lacking at large events - even just due to volume, but Soraya really impressed us on every front. People STILL rave about the food at our wedding! Her team was amazing as well, they all brought such a great energy to our wedding and we couldn't have been happier. Special shout out - I asked for a special Lebanese dish that I knew wouldn't be a crowd favorite, but it was my personal favorite, and Soraya brought me my own personal dish of it during our dinner service. I was ecstatic! Highly recommend Soraya and her team - you won't be disappointed! -

Soraya is amazing. I had to put a backyard wedding together in less than 3 months and she guided me the whole way, right up until the night before. She was flexible, accommodating and incredibly easy to work with. Her food and staff were exceptional. My daughter had the best wedding she could have had during such trying times and it would not have happened without Soraya. She clearly is the best in the business. -

SYB was absolutely AMAZING! We had to change our big wedding plans to an intimate small backyard wedding due to COVID. With high risk parents on both sides, we were so concerned about having our wedding and bringing in outside vendors. Our new wedding plan was to have 10 people socially distanced in our backyard. Soraya made me feel so comfortable with her knowledge of food preparation, especially given her dedicated commitment to stay on top of guidelines around food prep during this time. Dinner was absolutely incredible!! Soraya knows what she’s doing and I would hire her for any event in the future and recommend her to everyone we know! She came out to our house, served us an amazing dinner, and I truly felt as though I was still having an incredible, elegant dinner from the comfort of my backyard! She’s fantastic!!! My now husband and I can’t thank her enough! She was not only professional but she was caring and accommodating in the best way possible! -

I had so many different thoughts and ideas for my wedding, I was going crazy. When I met with Soraya she was so comforting to me, and had vendors for all of my ideas. She put my wants and wishes together seamlessly for my wedding day. Anytime that I had a concern or worry, I called her and it was resolved immediately. Soraya was always accessible to me. What a relief! By booking Soraya for my wedding it allowed me the extra time that I needed to really enjoy my out of town family and friends. The best decision that I made was booking SYB . It was truly amazing to see how great and magnificent everything looked. The birthday lady was so taken aback by what had been done in her honor that she was at a loss for words. Everything from the setting, flowers, lighting, attentive service, cordial staff, etc....was magnificent. The décor was truly stunning. The food was delectable, well done, and to die for. Everyone in attendance was beyond themselves on how "over the top" the party was. Soraya is very easy to work with and helps her clients achieve their ultimate desired goals.
Soraya and her team have brought nothing but pure joy to our hearts. She did a fantastic, marvelous job and we are truly elated to have chosen her for our event. Looking forward to the next one!!! -

Every detail was accounted for while creating the “simplistic and casual” look I was seeking. From hanging pretzels and custom beer signs to an epic s’mores bar, it was a fantastic event. My guests had a great time and eveyone commented how much they loved the food. Soraya had many creative ideas along the way and was very respectful of my budget. I look forward to working with Soraya in the future!

I worked with Soraya at SYB Event Planning and Catering for our department’s annual three-shift holiday event and it went really well. People loved the food. We had thick ham slices, mashed potatoes, green beans, grilled chicken with sauce on the side, ziti pasta and rolls. The next day, people were still talking and complimenting the good food. The catering staff was very nice and did a good job serving the food at all three shifts. We also had strawberry shortcake for dessert and it was delish. Everyone loved it. Soraya is personable, friendly, provides suggestions, and helps to stay within your budget. I look forward to working with SYB in the near future.
