Easiest Vendor to Work With

Susan and her team make everything so easy! The food was delicious, the cake not only looked amazing, it was delicious as well! The service was impeccable. I am so glad we went with Suzcatering. Price, professionalism, talent: Suzcatering has it all!

Suzcatering: Experience and Talent for the Win

Suzcatering was a true bright spot in planning our daughter's wedding during the pandemic. She was flexible as our plans changed and always helpful with wonderful suggestions to make the best of our ever-evolving plans as we tried to provide our daughter with a memorable wedding and protect family members at the same time. She provided the delicious and moist cake for the downsized reception on the day of the wedding, and she created the most beautiful personalized wedding cookies for guests at a later drive through wedding reception for our friends and church family. Sue was so generous with her experience and talent and really helped our family make both of the events a memorable time for our daughter and guests with the outstanding confections that she provided. I highly recommend Suzcatering for delectable food and exceptional service.

Wonderful Catering Experience

From the minute you are welcomed at her house you have a feeling of someone who is going to do everything she can to ensure your special day is exactly that “special”. You can tell Susan has been doing this and doing it right for many couples and events. Her attention to details that you don’t even think about is so very helpful. She allows you to sample a variety of foods she offers for the wedding and in addition to that she bakes cupcakes to sample as a wedding cake choice. As a side note, she even sent us home with a dozen as my husband wasn’t able to be there for the initial meeting. Her food is amazing and our cake was everything she promised it would be.
We had originally planned our wedding in April but like so many brides and grooms we had to postpone ours until September. Regulations from the Health Department were followed which gave us a since of peace, knowing she would not put any of our guests at risk.
Plans changed and adjustments were made to how our guest would be served in a COVID time. With all the challenges we faced, Susan was working with us the whole way. She allowed us to ask questions and made suggestions and was willing to work with us the whole time.
Our guests were served at the tables instead of a buffet. Her staff wore masks and paid attention to details. Susan worked with the DJ on the timing of everything and had everything in place at the right time. Susan indeed helped make our day “special”.
The food was absolutely wonderful and the cake was perfect. It was everything that I wanted for the simple, rustic theme that I was looking for. Susan took a few of my ideas and made them into her own cake and it was exactly what I wanted. But more importantly, the cake had great flavor and it was so delightful.
If you are looking for more than a caterer we would HIGHLY recommend “Suz Catering”. She goes above and beyond.

Absolutely Wonderful

Susan was absolutely wonderful to work with! She was so flexible and responded quickly. We got married in July amongst the COVID mess and she was so helpful with all of our changes. The food was amazing and everyone still talks about how delicious our cake was! Plus she does a food and cake tasting -- SO FUN!

She was a great cater! Highly recommend her!

Susan Hicks and her catering staff did an amazing job catering my daughter's wedding reception. She also did an amazing job with the fondant wedding cake. It was the most beautiful and unique cake i have ever seen. We have received so many wonderful comments on it. The food was hot and delicious. The wedding was rescheduled due to Covid 19 and she was very helpful with all the changes that had to be made and working with us to find a new date and venue. She always got back to me within 24 hours when i had a question and many times it was a lot sooner. She had lots of wonderful suggestions and her experience was invaluable. Our reception was delayed due to a sound problem and she still delivered a hot meal to each guest in a timely fashion. The bride and groom were very pleased with how she attended to them and got them refills or whatever they needed. I would recommend Suz Catering to anyone in need of a caterer and her options and prices were great. Give her a call!

Amazing Cake!

Susan did an amazing job making our wedding cake, cupcakes and cookies. They were all gorgeous and they tasted amazing! She was so responsive, was thoughtful on flavors, and it turned out amazing! I am so grateful for all she did to make my wedding special. I can't wait to eat the top layer in one year!

It was a pleasure meeting Susan Hicks with SuzCatering. Susan provided excellent food and service for my granddaughter’s wedding. Everything was professionally prepared and the presentation was beautiful and appealing to the eye. My granddaughter wanted to tailor the menu on the Taco Bar and Susan was very accommodating to meet her requests. I will definitely recommend Susan to others and keep her in mind for future catering needs.

Everything was perfect!

Suzcatering provided catering for my daughter’s wedding. The fruit/veggies/cheese appetizer station along with the pasta bar was so good! The presentation was beautiful and everything tasted great. She also did the wedding cake which was the best cake I’ve ever had! Sue Hicks is so personable and easy to work with. I highly recommend Suzcatering!

Absolutely wonderful!

Susan is so wonderful to work with and her food is amazing! Not only was the planning process easy, but Susan made everything look so beautiful. She even acted as a therapist when I thought rain was going to plague our wedding. I would highly recommend her to anyone in need of a kind, professional and talented caterer for their big day!

Absolutely Amazing

Susan was absolutely amazing. Leading up to the wedding she was always helpful and always had time to listen to our many requests. At the wedding the setup was beautiful! The food was perfect. Everyone loved the chicken marsala and the mashed potatoes. The cake was so pretty and it tasted sooo good. I dont think we had a single slice left. Susan was so helpful at the wedding and helped with the cleanup. Would absolutely recommend Susan in a heartbeat!

Wonderful service and amazing food

My husband and I used Susan for our wedding last August. Two weeks before the wedding, the guest list increased unexpectantly. Susan made sure there was plenty of food and cake to accommodate every guest. She also took care of cleaning up the dishes from the table and kept everything well stocked.

Suzcatering catered my wedding reception and it was fabulous! The cheese/fruit/veggie appetizers and pasta bar was delicious! My wedding cake and grooms cake was absolutely gorgeous and fresh! Suzcatering was the best experience for our daughter's wedding. I can't say enough about Sue herself and staff. The food was delicious, the mashed potato bar was a hit, the color and décor was just beautiful. I suggest anyone getting ready for a shower, wedding, or a meeting of some kind....Suzcatering is the choice!

Susan catered for my wedding, as well as my three sisters! Each wedding, Susan has done an amazing job and always pays attention to the fine details that make a wedding day even more special. She always does a great job personalizing and incorporating the vision that the bride and the groom have. I would highly recommend Susan for anyone who has an upcoming special event. She will take care of you and your party will be beyond pleased with the results! Also, you HAVE to try her carrot cake! A+!

Susan is such a kind woman and did an amazing job on my wedding cake. She was very flexible with her time to schedule an appointment for cake tasting in her lovely home with various options to choose from. She was realistic with what I had in-mind for my dream wedding cake and it turned out exactly what I had wanted! It tasted wonderful and all of our guests where asking who had made my cake. Her price was exceptionally reasonable as well! I highly recommend Susan Hicks for her talented wedding cakes that are absolutely delicious for a great price!

Susan was so awesome, I felt like her services were not only a great value, but she was so helpful and insightful. I was not great at the wedding planning process, and Susan reached out to me to help make sure I was on track in the planning process. The food was great, all the guests had rave reviews. She even packed a basket the night of the wedding for just the two of us. I would definitely reccommend her!

I have known Susan since I was little. She always made cakes for all our school events, so of course when it came time for a cake for my wedding, Susan was my first choice! We met for taste test (even though I already knew how great she was!) and she was so great in accommodating what I wanted. When the wedding day finally came, the cake was EXACTLY what I wanted! It was beautiful and of course it tasted amazing! She is amazing to work with! I would recommend her to everyone!

Read the reviews and meet Susan in person. You will know you made the right choice. Tasting is believing, Susan's cakes are beautifully created but most of all they are so moist and rich in flavor. At our daughters wedding we decided to offer buffet style. The roast beef and chicken was so moist and delicious our guest went up for seconds. The china option and silver was elegant with the buffet. Susan's menu offers a variety of options but her professional service was impeccable!!!

Susan is AMAZING! We had a wedding reception for 200 people and there was not one person that we spoke with after the wedding that did not mention how delicious the food was. Our menu consisted of roast turkey, roast sirloin, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad and dinner rolls. In addition we had 5 different fudges to give guest for party favors and hors d'oeuvres for cocktail hour. Susan's service is impeccable, she is very timely, thoughtful and goes above and beyond for her clients to ensure their event is perfect; this is a reflection of her. (note): She also includes a free wedding cake with wedding catering. No worries, the cake was THE BOMB (scrumptious)! Catering service was affordable, and Susan is very knowledgeable about wedding planning! Don't hesitate to call because her schedule fills up quickly.

Susan made an absolutely amazing wedding cake for our wedding! Even though I contacted her literally a week before the wedding is did an amazing job and it was so beautiful. It was the best tasting cake I've ever had. The red velvet and buttercream icing was magnificent.

Susan Hicks was an absolute blessing to work with. She was very helpful. Her calm demeanor helped keep me calm during the stress of wedding planning. Her food and cake tasted delicious and all of my guests loved it. We had herb baked chicken, sirloin tip roast, veggies, mashed potatoes, salad and rolls. Our cake was four tier white, chocolate, and strawberry with buttercream icing. I'm so thankful to have met her and will be going to her for all of my future catering and cake needs. Susan made my mothers baby shower cake when my mother was pregnant with me. It was only fitting that she make my wedding cake. She was so helpful and provided the best food and service for a once in a lifetime perfect day. She is absolutely amazing!!!! Gold stars all around.

My husband and I were blown away by the excellent food Susan provided at our reception! The dessert station was especially delicious, as was the cake! Every single guest raved about how amazing the buffet tasted as well! Susan's professionalism and flexibility is unmatched by any other catering service in the area. I cannot give her a high enough recommendation, it was worth every single penny!

I. Love. Suzcatering! I mean it--- you have to use this lady if you are hosting something in Huntington or nearby. She gave me a great lead on a fabulous DJ and her food was top shelf. I love love LOVEd the entire experience!

Sus an Hicks, owner of Suzcatering provided our family with a beautiful and delicious buffet for the Wedding Reception of The Harvey/Blankenship on 3/14/2015. Not only was the food top quality, the wedding cake was beautiful and so fresh and delicious. I must say the most amazing thing I and most every guest there saw was the Grooms cake, it was unbelievable, the thought and work that went into that cake is just off the charts.
Susan and her staff where so professional, organized and efficent. Also very friendly and so easy too work with thru the whole process. 5 stars are not enough, I would rate her entire service for our family a 10. We would highly recommend Suzcatering for all your catering and cake needs. Her pricing is very reasonable, it was just a great experience from start too finish.

Susan Hicks of Suzcatering was a great companion to have as our wedding caterer. My daughter and I found her to be the perfect match in planning our event. Susan is very friendly and easy to work with. She was very helpful with ideas and suggestions. She had a wide and varied menu for us to choice from and the food was wonderful. My family was very pleased with the buffet presentation she provided...beautifully decorated and easy for our guests. The services she provided were exceptional and the cost was quite reasonable. We were very pleased with our choice of Suzcatering to cater our daughter's wedding.

Susan Hicks of Suzcatering provided not only the wedding cake for my sons wedding but also the grooms cake, a complete dessert table and her amazing fudge as favors for each wedding guest. She was easy to work with and went above and beyond to make sure things were simply perfect. Susan made this part of the wedding stress and worry free. The guests all loved her desserts. I would highly recommend using Susan for your event.

Sue was amazing!!! Everyone who was at the wedding loved her, and most say they wish they had used her for their own weddings. She was so sweet, and so easy to work with. On our wedding night she packed a to-go basket for us to snack on when we got home. Also, she makes the BEST cakes. They are perfect. I would recommend her to everyone, and already have to a lot of brides!

Susan was wonderful to work with. The food was excellent and she even made a special and unusual cake for us, per our request, that was awesome. We had no complaints and couldn't have asked for anything better. She was even able to recommend a bartender for us because we were having trouble finding one, and he was great as well. Susan was AMAZING to work with! Not only did she cater a fantastic meal, but when she is serving over 100 guests she does your wedding cake with no extra charge. What a blessing! One less thing to worry about! Not to mention, the cake was STUNNING and delicious! Susan goes above and beyond. She acted as an event planner before my family and I could arrive at the venue making sure everything ran smoothly. We contacted Susan to make my daughter's wedding cake for her reception on July 19, 2014. I spoke with Susan on the phone and via email several times about what we wanted and to book her for our date. We met with her in the middle of June to discuss our ideas. She had beautiful cupcakes in the flavors that we were interested in. Susan is a warm and caring person who we felt cared about what Amanda's vision was for her cake. The cake was amazing!!!! Words can not describe how beautiful it was. She understood and conveyed Amanda's vision to the letter. Susan truly cares about her clients and the quality of her product is beyond your wildest dreams. You will not regret ever choosing Susan for any wedding cake or catering. She is an awesome, professional and talented lady! There was no cake left! Everyone loved it. We selected 3 flavors for our 4 tier wedding cake. We loved Susan!

Sue did our wedding cake. It was delicious and beautiful. I had a 3 tier cake flavored lemon, white and red-velvet. I had the topper boxed separately instead of having to remove from the wedding cake. She welcomed me into her home for samples prior to ordering my cake. It was delivered early and everything set up prior to wedding pictures. I couldn't have asked for better service. Highly recommend Suz Catering!!

I just happened to find Susan's name on a wedding website and it was the best thing that could have happened for us. She catered our entire wedding from appetizers, to the main meal, to the wedding cake. She supplied the linens, plates, silverware, and beverages. Once we hired Susan and chose the food we wanted served we never gave the meal a second thought she had it all under control.

My daughter's fiance loves cheese cake and it just so happens that Susan serves cheese cake with her wedding cakes. Her presentation is beautiful and she is very professional. She has a very wide selection of entrees to choose from. Her food was wonderful! Everyone commented on how good the food was at the wedding.

Susan was more than our caterer she became our friend. She was so helpful and gave us priceless advice. As the mother of the bride I can't say enough on how much I appreciate Susan and her catering services. She is great!

I don't even know where to begin with Susan Hicks and Suzcatering. Such a great experience!! She was extremely helpful throughout my wedding planning process. Not only did she cater my wedding and provide the BEAUTIFUL wedding cake for free (since she catered), but she also did my grooms cake and was almost like a personal wedding planner. She gave me so much advice. She has been in the business for a long time and knows her stuff. She actually catered my dad and stepmoms wedding over 20 years ago! So, if you want someone who knows what they're doing, is super easy to work with, makes amazing food/cakes, and is extremely helpful, Susan Hicks is your woman!

If I had a dozen daughters, Suzcatering, Inc. would make wedding cakes for all who had weddings! Fortunately, we only had 2, and Susan Hicks made our second beautiful wedding cake in August of this year. The cake was beautiful and delicious. And Susan was extremely patient and kind when Julie was picking out the style, flavors, and decorations. We also had Suzcatering provide a beautiful light lunch for the Bridal Party to enjoy while getting ready. It was a gift from Julie's grandmother, and we were all very pleased with the beauty, taste, and practicality of the spread. Susan Hicks did an outstanding job catering our wedding! Not only was the dinner delicious, but Susan is so genuine, helpful, friendly, caring, and trustworthy. She went out of her way to make everything perfect. The appetizer and buffet tables were decorated so beautifully! Since she catered the wedding, she also did our cake for free! When looking to find a caterer who will take the guess and stress out of your up coming wedding I highly recommend Suzcatering (Susan Hicks) to lead you through the process starting months before and through your special day. This highly knowledgeable caterer provided the answers to all my questions for my daughter's upcoming wedding in the spring of 2012. Whether it was help in finding a DJ, photographer, hall, food menu, bartender, florist and information on the newest trends in wedding planning, Suzcatering was there providing me with the best solutions and ideas. Her staff is very professional in both looks and service.
The food menus offer a wide variety of both delicious and affordable foods. They take the extra time to display their foods in the most appealing way. Our wedding Guess were all pleasantly satisfied with the abundance of freshly prepared foods and breads. The wedding cake is to die for. The cake was beautifully designed to the bride's personal specifications and was so fresh, melted into your mouth with just the right sweetness. Each piece of cake had a filling that made your month water. I am so thankful for finding Suzcatering and Susan Hicks. Whenever I need a cake or a caterer Susan is the first person that comes to mind. I have used her services personally and professionally. She has catered cocktail style events for my work which included a variety of desserts and cake. The guest are always thrilled with the results. Personally she has done birthday cakes and my wedding cake. Her cake is the best I have ever had. Her cakes are always beautiful and customised to my requests. Simple put she is the best. I cannot say enough about Susan Hicks. She was the first phone call I made when my daughter told us she was getting married! My daughter had her wedding 75 miles from where I live. How would I ever take care of all the details from that far away and do all the flowers for the wedding, too? I came across Suzcatering on the internet. Her site said she would take care of everything to leave the day worry free for me! Did I read that right?

Susan was a joy to work with, always returned calls and had so many good ideas to share. Her food was fantastic and the presentation so professional. Her menus included many different foods, although she was very open to making anything else you might want. We also had the cake done by Susan. It was absolutely delicious and was exactly what my daughter envisioned. She suggested Willie, when asked about a bartender and he was great, too.

Susan did take care of everything at the reception. Having her be our caterer was the best decision I could have made. All I have is praise, I can't think of anything that I would have changed. Look no further for your special day!

I'm so happy we used Suzcatering for our wedding! The food was delicious and the set-up was beautiful. Susan was so easy to talk to and work with, and was very accommodating. My husband and I were really pleased that she and her team were able to cater the food and provide our wedding cakes (we had 3!), and all for a great price. My cake was beautiful! Exactly how we planned. Susan was so easy to work with and she communicated with me back and forth throughout the wedding planning process as I changed my mind a few times. She opens her home to you to discuss the concept and do tastings. She had the cake delivered and setup early the morning of so the florist had no trouble doing his part. Susan's cakes taste so delicious. I would def recommend these cakes to any bride!!!

My daughter tasted one of Susan Hicks’ cakes and immediately decided that was who she wanted to make her wedding cake. Her taste buds did not lead her wrong. The bride and everyone else was thrilled with the look and taste of both the wedding cake and the groom’s cake
Susan was a delight with whom to work and while everyone says that they want the bride to be happy, this is truly Susan’s goal.
The wedding cake was four square tiers of strawberry and vanilla, rough iced and decorated with beautiful flowers. Just what the bride envisioned. The topper of the cake was actually the bouquet she threw at the reception. The groom’s cake was chocolate on chocolate decorated with a picture of the Tampa Bay Buccaneer that Susan had created in icing. Beautiful and delicious!
She also made lovely to look at and delicious to eat bride and groom cookies for us to give as favors to our guests. Additionally, she prepared fabulous chocolate dipped strawberries with white chocolate drizzle.
We could not have been more pleased. The Huntington/Barboursville area is certainly lucky to have such an accomplished and thoughtful person who creates such delicious food making a special occasion even more so.

My daughter wed on 05/30/2009 yes Memorial day weekend, that was not a problem for owner Susan Hicks. She delivered & set up the cake for us.
She understood I was on tight budget giving me many pointers & recommendations. She helped me along as I was doing the reception myself.
That meant the world to me since it wasn't something I do everyday.
Susan allowed my daughter to look thru books & asked her what she was wanting.
She decided on a 3 tier cake, decorated with ribbons she used for her wedding colors.
It was STUNNING!!! Simple yet so elegant. Susan cut each piece of ribbon & beads placing them in a pattern that was to pretty cut into & eat,but eat we did.
The flavor of the cake was TRUE wedding cake. There is white cake then there is wedding cake. Having been to numerous wedding's in my lifetime none have compared to this cake it was so delicious & fresh.. We barely had enough left for the guests that wanted to take some home. Everyone raved about the flavor.
I would recommended Suzcatering to any one that wants an event that will leave your guests asking for more.
She was very professional,knowledgable and so easy to work with.

Susan is wonderful to work with. She will do everything to make sure your wedding day is perfect. Susan did my rehearsal dinner, wedding cake, grooms cake, and reception. She has also made all of my birthday cakes for the last 20 plus years. Her cakes are out of this world.

Everyone raved about the food at my wedding. There are lots of food options for wedding receptions. Susan is great and I would not use anyone else is the Huntington/ Charleston area! I highly recommend Susan for any catering event.

Susan is the BEST!!! She did our rehearsal dinner, reception, groom's cake and wedding cake!! I would not change one thing! She is a joy to work with and gives you all the time you need. Our Groom's Cake was a model of our 65 year old log home and it was PERFECT!! The food was great and just what we asked for. We also used her recommendations for the florist, Tom, and bartender, Willie and Kim to print the invitations. They all worked great together and took care of everything. And we are friends today!!

Susan and her crew did and outstanding job catering my daughter's wedding reception. Susan was very knowledgeable and easy to communicate with during the months prior to the wedding date. She
made the planning of the reception and the entire process a pleasant experience. During the wedding weekend the catering services went
very smoothly and we were thrilled that the food and cake were both
presented beautifully and were also very delicious. We could not have
asked for a better catering experience! We received many compliments from guests on the delicious food and cake, and cannot thank Susan enough for helping to make the Wedding Day and reception a wonderful experience! angieb.

Susan is GREAT! She's experienced and can provide a wealth of information to her bride and groom in the planning process. Her food is remarkable, and she provides a variety of things on her menu from full meals to heavy hor'derves that are just as filling. Her cakes are both beautiful and delicious! There's no reason to go with anyone else!

This Lady was the best!!! She did my cake and also I did individual cakes as my centerpieces and you could not tell if they were real or fake and also the taste of everything was breathe taking.

Susan catered & did the cake for my daughters wedding! She did an amazing job on both! I've heard nothing but great things from all of our guests. They loved the food & the cake. The cake design was exactly what my daughter wanted. Not only did everything taste wonderful, but the food tables were decorated beautifully as well. She was also very calming & reassuring to this first time mother of the bride! Would highly recommend she & her staff to anyone!

Susan was absolutely magnificent. Not only was the food incredible, she was so easy to work with. We had already gotten a cake before learning that she includes the cake with catering, so she did a non-cake dessert table for anyone that doesn't like cake. She even made an egg-free dessert for our allergic friend. The other side of the coin is that she knows tons of vendors and recommended an amazing (and cheap) DJ. I don't see any more weddings in my future, but I would have her cater any event.

Make sure there is open communication between the bride and the caterer. I, the mother of the bride, was doing most of the communicating between the bride and the caterer so then the caterer would ask me a question and I then would ask the bride. I should have had the bride contact the caterer herself.

I chose Suzcatering because I had heard great things from family and friends. She catered my wedding reception (food, cake, and all) and I was so pleased with absolutely everything. She invited me to her home, gave me so many great options, and did exactly what I wanted. She took the time to learn my style, set up everything so beautifully, and helped when she could. My family has also used Suzcatering for birthdays and other special events, and her treats never disappoint!

Susan Hicks is wonderful! She did a wonderful job with the wedding cake, grooms cake and catering! I would recommend her highly! She is very professional and her work is impeccable. She made our wedding one of the best days of our lives!
