She can do anything!

Susie is amazing! Our tasting was delicious--and the cake on the actual day was just the same! She is so sweet and fun to work with. She also has books on end with all of the amazing cakes she's done in case you need ideas. I sent her images of inspiration for the wedding cake and she did a great job combining all of my desires. She made an amazing groom's cake too. I was surprised on the day of that it wasn't the color we had discussed, but she did so in order to make parts of the design identical to what we had sent her. Unfortunately, this meant fondant, which we did not want, but the inside still tasted great. I didn't want a single piece thrown out--we ate it all night, all week, and I can't wait to have our top tier next year!

Beautiful and delicious

A cake from Susie was included from our venue, but we would have selected her regardless. We knew the cake would be delicious from trying it at other weddings, but it was also beautiful. She recreated our inspiration, but made it even better and it blended with our decor and color so well. If you want a beautiful and delicious cake, look no further.

Amazing cake!

Susie did a great job on my wedding cake. She was easy to get an appointment with and was very helpful at our cake tasting. My husband and I don’t really like cake, but the almond cake with raspberry filling was delicious. She worked with my florist as well to decorate the cake with fresh flowers. Definitely recommend! Good service, quality cake!

Beautiful tasty cakes, great customer service!

Susies was the nicest and she was very helpful and pleasant during our tasting and while helping us choose the perfect cake for our wedding! The process was effortless and the cakes were delicious!

Exactly what I wanted!

Ms. Susie was sweet to work with. She listened to my ideas and was open to changing my design when I changed my mind. She designed the wedding cake and the groom's cake. They both exceeded my expectations and they both tasted amazing. I would definitely recommend Susie's cakes to future brides.

We love Susie’s Cakes! The cake was exactly as we had ordered, was beautiful, delivered on time and was absolutely delicious! We went to three other cake vendors when deciding who to pick and Susie's was by far the best! Her cakes just tasted so much better than the rest and she is a perfectionist, so she will not give you a cake she is not proud of. Susie is no nonsense and no drama. We had our initial meeting and that was all that was needed. We would definitely recommend her to any bride and groom.

Meet with her early and be clear about what you want. She made a beautiful brides cake and a Sponge Bob in a Tuxedo cake for the groom. They both were exactly what we had hoped for AND SO SCRUMPTIOUS!

I had my wedding reception at the Houstonian, and our wedding cake from Susie's Cakes was included in the package. After the cake tasting, we ended up purchasing a grooms cake as well since all of the flavors were so yummy. The wedding cake was the traditional white almond cake with buttercream, and it was seriously amazing. All of our guests were raving about how good the cake was, and I'm somewhat embarrassed to say that my husband and I ate the top tier of our cake within a week (couldn't resist!). Our grooms cake was chocolate ganache with our collegiate logo, and it turned out very nicely. I would recommend Susie's Cakes to any Houston bride!

If you care about having the best tasting cake, choose Susie's Cakes. We chose a simple design--taste was more important to us. However, the photos show that Susie is talented in complex designs as well. We had vanilla with raspberry filling. It was absolutely delicious!

Our wedding reception was at the Houstonian, which included the bride's cake from Susie's and we also hired her for the groom's cake. Susie was wonderful to work with! The tasting was fun and easy. And both cakes were even better than we imagined. The groom's cake required some skillful creativity and Susie and her team absolutely nailed it. And both were delicious! We're so glad we ordered for more guests than we had so we have leftovers in the freezer!

Working with Susie was such a wonderful experience. She did such a fantastic job on our wedding cake and groom’s cake that our guests were asking us days after who made the cakes! Our wedding cake was gorgeous and she went way beyond my expectation. She created a grill for the groom’s cake and personalized it with his favorite food on kabobs – hilarious! She was extremely helpful with picking out the right flavors that would complement each other, especially when I was overwhelmed. I would absolutely recommend using her for any event! Thank you for everything!

Having worked in the wedding industry for several years, I've become a HUGE fan of Susie's white wedding cake. I've always told myself that if I ever got married, I would absolutely have Susie's cake so I was ecstatic to find out that it was part of the wedding venue package.
We had a great time meeting Susie at the cake tasting and enjoyed trying the different flavors. The cake turned out beautiful on the wedding day and we couldn't have been happier. And the taste was amazing!

LOVE Susie's Cakes. She was sweet, followed up before the wedding again to make sure everything was set and people RAVED about the cake. My family was trying to buy the top layer from me so they could eat more the next day :)

Our daughter got married recently, and there was no question as to who would provide the cake for the reception. I have helped plan a number or weddings and functions over the years and Susie's Cakes is my go-to place for high-end wedding cake. Her cakes are gorgeous and the best cake you'll ever taste! Susie's Cakes did an amazing job on our wedding cakes, there were sooo yummy and beautiful. We went to 3 other cakes places when deciding who to pick and Susie's was by far the best!!!! Susie's passion is giving you the best and most delicious wedding cake you'll ever have. We had our wedding cake from Susie's as part of the Houstonian package and we first met Susie during our cake tasting. Cake tasting is one of the perks of the wedding planning. She made all the cakes so deliciously that we had a hard time choosing which flavors to get. We also had our grooms cake made by Susie (not part of the Houstonian package). My husband wanted a basketball, a stethoscope, boxing gloves and his scotch all in one plane and we were impressed Susie made it all possible. It was dark chocolate and sooo yummy!!! Our wedding cake was the white cake with strawberry filling -- best best cake!!! And soo beautiful! We saved the top layer for our 1 year anniversary. Thanks Susie!!! =)

We had our wedding at the Houstonian, so our cake was included as part of our package. My review is based on the final product and our interaction with Susie - both which were top notch.

For our tasting, Susie was prepared, asked the right questions to get a sense of what we wanted and had everything ready for us. It was a very seamless and delicious process. I brought in pictures which helped the process along.

Leading up to the wedding, she was on top of things connecting with me, the venue and my wedding planner regarding logistics, which I always appreciate versus having to chase people for confirmation or details.

The cake was beautiful, the stand she used was perfect for the look of our wedding, and everyone raved about the taste.

We loved our cake from Susie's and so did all of our guests! Susie is very kind and helped us find the perfect flavors for our cakes. We did the Almond and Raspberry for the bride's cake and German Chocolate for the groom's cake and enjoyed them both! The bakery is a little far for those of us who prefer to stay in the loop, but worth the drive.

My husband and I couldn't have imagined anyone else making our cakes for our wedding, from the taste to the look, Susie's cakes is simply the best!!! Can't count the amount of compliments we received! Susie is a really sweet lady and was so easy to work with! Couldn't recommend her more highly. My twin sister just got married last weekend and she used Susie's as well after she saw and tasted how wonderful her cakes are! I wish I could give her more than 5 stars!!!

We LOVED Susie! She is a ball of energy that wants to do nothing but make your wedding day absolutely perfect! All of the cakes that we tried were TO DIE FOR! They were so good! Susie did both our wedding cake and grooms cake. Both were EXCELLENT and beautiful!!!! We got so many compliments on both, but especially the chocolate grooms cake. Susie is the only one I know that does an oval tiered wedding cake. Would recommend Susie to everyone!!!

We used Susie's Cakes for our wedding cakes. They were delicious! We did a spice cake for the groom cake and everyone is still raving about it! Susie meets with you personally for a tasting where you select your designs & flavors. I would definitely use Susie's in the future! Delish!

A great tasting AND beautiful wedding cake is hard to come by. At least, that was my experience before I tasted SUSIE'S CAKES! OMG! Her cakes are moist, which is where most Bride's cakes fail. Susie consistently creates the most beautiful and tasty cakes around. I cannot wait to order another cake from her! And, I am not going to wait for a wedding...I'm thinking birthday or for the holidays!! YUM!

Susie's Cakes were recommended to me by a friend who had attended close to 15 weddings over a short time span as one of the top two choices from those weddings. We met with Susie, sampled her cakes and were sold as our first choice. She has such variety in the choices she offers and was willing to let the bride and groom get creative for the groom's cake. The bride loved having multiple flavors for each layer of the brides cake and guests talked about the cakes weeks after the wedding.

Susie did an amazing job on our wedding and groom's cake. It not only tasted absolutely incredible, it was also the most beautiful cakes I've ever seen! She is so talented and can create any design you want. All of our guests have commented on how great the cake looked and tasted, and they are still talking about how amazing it was! Our cake from Susie was beautiful and she delivered to Galveston. The color we had discussed previously was perfect - I was kind of nervous about that becuause I wanted a very light blush pink and didn't see it before the big day. She nailed the color! Her cakes are moist and the buttercream delicious. One of my bridesmaids had a cake made by Susie for her wedding and I couldn't wait to have it for mine. We selected the almond and milk chocolate flavors. She even lets you borrow a cake stand for a deposit that she gives back after the wedding. The only issue was that we had a friend who returned the cake stand when we left for our honeymoon. It was my understanding that that he would receive the anniversary cake at that time, but whoever he dealt with (not Susie) said he needed an appointment to pick it up. I called when I returned from my honeymoon and they said it had been thrown away as nobody ever came to get it. I'm not exactly sure what the miscommunication was, but Susie quickly solved it by agreeing to make me an another anniversary cake a year from now.

Susie is awesome! She met with us personally and helped us design our cakes. I had questions about our design after the meeting and she took time to speak with me on the phone to clarify. She was able to match our monogram from our napkins & program perfectly on the cake. High quality - Definitely recommend!

We worked directly with Susie throughout our planning of our cakes for our wedding. We researched several bakeries in Houston and felt that the quality and flavors that Susie created were far superior to any others we tried. I have to keep my husband from eating our cake topper because he wants more of it.

As far as the final cakes were concerned, they were show stoppers. Everyone was taking pictures of my husband's groom cake, even the DJ was tweeting it out because of how impressive it was.

Susie exceeded our expectations in every way, and would recommend her for any event. We may order a cake from her just to have it again.

Mind-blowing butter cream-frosted cakes, and she offers various flavors, custards, etc. as filling options as well. Susie has been in this business for ages, so she has tons of experience, is attentive and patient with customers like me, who have lots of trouble making decisions, does beautiful work, and even has reasonable prices! HIGHLY recommend!

Susie created a delicious, three tier wedding cake for our reception, as well as a chocolate groom’s cake. When we were planning the wedding, my mom and I visited several other vendors looking for the quintessential wedding cake, both in taste and in style. I left each one disappointed until we went to Susie’s. Our wedding cake was white cake with buttercream icing, and it tasted just how I imagined wedding cake should taste. Her design work was beautiful as well, a lovely scroll work pattern that complemented the lace and beading on my dress. We also used one of Susie's cake stands, and it looked perfect with our flowers on the cake table at the reception. I highly recommend Susie!

Susie makes by far the best wedding cakes in Houston. Both our bride and grooms cake were incredible and all of our guests thought so. So many people have come up to me and asked where we got them from and said that it was the best cake they had ever had!

The cake was beyond anything I have ever tasted when it comes to wedding cakes. It was moist and the icing was delicious. We went with a white cake with buttercream frosting. The cake was 4 tiers, had beautiful bandmade sugar flowers and edible lace. It was more beautiful than I could have imagined. People raved about how pretty it was, but the best part was that people raved at how delicious it was.

Susie knew how to make the cake exactly what I wanted as well as please my mom in the process. (We had two very different ideas on what my cake should look like and Susie did an amazing job blending the two into the perfect cake!)

Susie's Cake provided our wedding and groom's cake. It was beautiful, delicious, and moist. For the grooms cake we chose a double milk chocolate cake designed like a suitcase and the wedding cake was a 4 tier white cream with a thin strawberry filling. Just the right amount of sweet!

Susie's Cakes is the best in Houston, hands down. The hardest part about working with her is narrowing down which of her cake flavors to use for your big day -- they are all absolutely DELISH. So moist & decadent. We did buttercream, not fondant. The whole process was very turn-key, and Susie was very creative in brainstorming how to design the cake so that it tied organically into the overall aesthetic of our event. She was so easy to work with and a pleasure. Would recommend to everyone!

Susie's Cakes was the best choice for wedding cake! From the start, Susie was professional and great to work with. At the tasting, she had her cakes readily available to try and they were all delicious. A wedding planner referred me to her and said it was the best cake she'd ever had. Of course, I didn't know if that was an exaggeration or not. After trying her cake, it seriously was the best cake I've ever had. We wanted to go the cupcake route and I'm so glad we did! We had vanilla and chocolate cupcakes with a mini cake on top. Each cupcake had fondant hearts on top. They were so cute and delish! Susie picked up the phone every time we called her bakery (totalling 3-4 times during the planning process) and was direct with her information. The cupcakes seemed pricey ($750 for 150), however, it was definitely worth it after everyone at the wedding couldn't stop raving about how good it was. I even had a bridesmaid text me today (a week after the wedding) wanting a reminder about which bakery we went through. You will not go wrong with Susie's cakes. I have nothing but great things to say about working with her for our big day!

Susie makes the best wedding cakes. Many people at our wedding told us that our wedding cake was the best wedding cake they have ever had and many of them had multiple slices! Susie did an amazing job with our wedding cake! We had our reception at the Houstonian and the cake from Susie's was included in our package and I'm so glad it was! She was so sweet when my fiance and future mother-in-law went for the tasting. I told her exactly what I wanted and she created it perfectly. She even called me a few days before the wedding to clarify something and always returned my phone calls within a day when I would call. The cake was delicious and it looked beautiful!

Susie's cakes had the best texture and taste of any cake I have ever tasted. When I walked into the building I knew that I would find exactly what I wanted because they were able to do anything that I wanted. We chose the white almond cake from Susie's Cakes. It was beyond amazing! This cake was so moist and flavorful. I especially appreciate the perfect balance of sweet to creamy feel of the icing. I must say I had a difficult time deciding between some of the flavors of cakes Susie provides. Their Italian Cream Cake is also amazing. We designed the decoration for our cake and Susie made it perfectly! Her creations are more of a work-of-art than just a cake. I highly recommend this vendor.

WOW! What an amazing cake!! When we met with Susie I only had a vision of what I wanted my cake to look like, and she was able to take that vision and turn it into a reality. It had 4 layers, detail accents, and rhinestones on her incredible horse-drawn cake stand. I went with the white almond and buttercream icing, and it was absolutely delicious. We also purchased the groom's cake and she was able to create a Batman theme (including Gotham and a light-up logo!) on red velvet with cream cheese icing. Hands down the best cake I have EVER had!

A bit dry on the cocoa side

We chose to have the top and bottom layers of the cake be white almond with raspberry filling and the middle layer was chocolate with chocolate. Presentation was beautiful, but the chocolate cake was very dry on the day of the wedding.
The white almond was delicious!

Susie is the matriarch of amazing cakes in Houston. She double booked us by accident but she made up for it. The cakes at the tasting are good, but the cake that she makes for the wedding is out of this world! We had the white almond with raspberry filling and I've been told it's the best wedding cake people have ever had. She responds well by email and is very kind to work with. I would definitely suggest her to anyone in Houston who wants a delicious cake! We took home leftovers and ate it straight from the box (minus the anniversary cake :))!

After visiting five highly rated cake shops, I knew we had to go with Susie's! She had me at almond cake! We went with almond buttercream and raspberry filling. Like other reviewers have said, her cakes are as delicious as they are beautiful! Everyone, even my mother-in-law who usually only likes chocolate cake, raved about how moist and delicious our cake was. I brought Susie a photo of the cake I wanted and she completely executed it! I didn't want fondant, but we needed it to make the cake work, so she was able to create fake layers and keep the buttercream layers matching perfectly. Although it was pricey, it was completely worth it! Our only issue was that in our consult meeting, I mentioned that we were a Two Be Wed client, and she said that we would not need to put a deposit on the cake stand. It didn't occur to me to put it on our order and I really wish she would have asked or confirmed this with me before delivering the cake. The cake looked beautiful, but I really wish we had a stand with it.

Susie's Cakes provided us with truly amazing cakes for our reception. Both the bride's cake and the groom's cake were beautiful and really delicious. We weren't sure how everything would turn out until we literally got the reception, but we were blown away.

The only thing I took away a little bit for was that it was a bit hard to figure out how the groom's cake was going to ultimately look like because we didn't know initially what we wanted. Even though it turned out to be beautiful in the end, it would have been great to have seen a mockup or something beforehand for peace of mind!

The taste of the cake was excellent and she made the cake exactly like the picture of the cake my wife brought her from a magazine. People raved about the wedding cake (An almond flavored cake with bavarian cream filling and white icing), and we had people asking for extra to take home.

The Four Season's uses this cake vendor as part of their packaged wedding reception. As a result, this cake was "free" as a part of our reception. I am not sure what the wedding cake cost, but the grooms cake ran about $300 for a wedding for 115. My wife is a dr at the medical center and I work downtown and I am doing a graduate program at night - as a result, our free time is fairly limited. My only negative was the difficulty in finding a time when she was open and we were available, so I've dinged her flexability alittle bit. Overall, we are both extremely happy with the cake and the experience of working with Susie.

Susie's Cakes did everything I ask and made a beautiful cake! It was larger than expected and everyone loved the taste. During cake shopping, we tried tons of places including the big names, More Than Cakes, Cakes by Gina, Who Made the Cake and although they make pretty cakes, they all tasted too rich and frosting was too sweet.

Susie's cakes were sweet and moist, not over bearing and the frosting was perfect. They are also one of the few companies that wait till that Thursday to bake. Most other cake companies bake a week in advance before they decorate which causes the stale tasting cake.
We have referred all our guests to Susie's Cakes for her professionalism, talent and amazing cake work.

I loved my cake!! I was feeling so-so about it b/c my catering package including a cake from Susie's so it wasn't like I had options.. However, it was absolutely delicious and surprisingly moist. Wonderful! Highly recommend. Susie was very easy to work with. We went to 1 tasting, and selected our cake. She was accomodating and let us really customize it the way we wanted. It was $800 for a 3 tier cake to feed 130 people. Definitely worth the money. I heard great things from our guests and the piece I had was amazing. No problems working with her at all.

Susie is a no-nonsense, straight up type person. That may have come across as rude in certain reviews I read. I thought she was very nice and to the point. The cake came with my wedding package. The choices are much more limited in the package, but I didn't want to pay more to upgrade. I chose a white cake with amaretto frosting and raspberry filling. The cake itself looked beautiful..a 4 tier hexagonal shaped cake. The cake was moist, but the frosting was WAY too sweet for my taste. I asked if it could be less sweet, but apparently there is a set formula and they can't change it? If you have a major sweet tooth, then you might like it. If no or if you are Asian (I'm Asian, and our desserts are typically much less sweet) then it may not be for you.

Susie's makes the most delicious and gorgeous cakes in Houston, but the business seems to have grown rapidly and she really needs to hire a manager. I met with her for a tasting, and let her know a few days later that I wanted to use her. She told me to mail her a check (would not take my credit card) and that we could sign a contract and make final design decisions two weeks before the wedding, when I would be back in town.

Three weeks before the wedding, I contacted her and found that she could not find my check and I did not have a cake-maker. After some real persistence from my fiance, she agreed to meet with us, and fit in our small cake. The cake was designed by default, basically what she could do in the time allowed.

I had followed her directions with the check and the contract, which was a mistake, but I didn't want to change cake vendors, because Susie's cake tasted delicious, and you could tell from her designs that she has an amazing eye. I wasn't sure exactly what the cake would look like, but I knew it would be good.

The cake ended up more gorgeous than the inspiration photo, tasted great, and came in right on budget.

I am really happy that Susie made my cake, but she needs an assistant. She is too busy, and things seem to fall between the cracks. So if you use Susie, make sure you've got a contract, got everything else in writing, and stay on top of things.

Now don't get me wrong Susie's cake can provide with an amazing cake. Her cake tasted so good and it look wonderful but she was a head ache. She really wants to make the cake the way she wants it not really how you want it. She is not afraid to tell you if something will not look good and she will push to change to look. Wedding cake

Our wedding cake was beautiful and just how we had pictured it to be! I was able to book with Susie since she was a preferred vendor through our all-inclusive package at our venue. The only issue I’ve encountered was just a little miscommunication as far as making appointments and the design of my cake at first. Overall, I’m glad it worked out to my expectation.

Disappointed - Poor Appearance

I was disappointed with our wedding cake from Susie’s Cakes. While the cake itself tasted very good, the appearance was the reason for the low rating.

Our cake was delivered to our reception in downtown Houston. When I (the bride) walked in, I was shocked by the look of the cake… it looked unappealing & unpolished. It did not resemble the inspiration photos we provided, and the dimensions didn’t appear to be correct—we ordered a 12/10/8-inch 3-tiered cake, but the tiers appeared to have 3-inch spacing instead of 2 inches.

The delivery and flavor were good, but unfortunately, the design quality did not meet our expectations.

The cake was a huge disappointment. We met with Susie to pick the colors of the flowers and the size and kind of sugar flowers, and actually provided a picture of exactly how we wanted the flowers to look on the cake--a nice dome of flowers on top with flowers cascading down the sides of the cake. The same photo was emailed to her as a reminder as the wedding approached, as well. Sadly, the cake arrived looking very sparse. Instead of using large flowers in the colors we talked about or following the picture, it looked like someone just put a few little pink filler flowers that were left over from another cake as the main flowers on top of ours. And there wasn't a single flower cascading down the side of the cake.
