Amazing music + thoughtful and kind DJ = one great party!

Do yourself a favor and hire Colleen (Sugartown Industries) right now. From the first meeting, Colleen was thoughtful, patient, and incredibly well organized. In our introductory call, we spent an hour discussing the desired flow of the event, room acoustics, and musical styles. She also provided us with planning documents to help narrow down song choices and construct a musical timeline for the day. During the reception -- from cocktail hour to our all-out dance party -- every song was spot on. Our guests had an absolute blast. Thank you for making our day so very special!

Best DJ ever

We can't say enough about how amazing Colleen is. From start to finish we were blown away by her positivity, patience and wisdom. She was so thorough and enthusiastic in helping make sure we had the perfect music for our big day. Our hope was that the dance floor would be full the entire party- and it was! Guests wrote to us the next day to say their legs and feet hurt from dancing so much. She also made sure the music we most wanted to hear was played and also gave us what seemed like a million other fantastic songs to choose from. With Colleen's thorough questions before our wedding, she was able to create a blueprint which made it seem like the vibe of the party was tailor-made to our personalities. Nonstop dance party

Colleen DJ’d our wedding and she was incredible!! She knew implicitly how to build the perfect dance party that appealed to young and old alike. So many friends came up to us throughout the night to sing her praises. She is the best!!

Would highly recommend!

DJ Crumbcake was awesome! She was immensely knowledgeable about our venue and went way above and beyond the role of DJ helping to advise us on our seating chart, based on the acoustics of the room. (That way we were able to ensure the old folks didn't get blown away by the speakers!) She was excellent to correspond with, and has mastered the art of bringing great energy to a party without making herself the center of attention. Huge bonus for us that she already had a list of cheesy/overdone songs she usually doesn't play unless requested, which were basically all the songs we would have put on our "do not play" list. Felt like we were all seeing eye-to-eye from the start. We are so appreciative for everything she added to our day and so lucky to have found her! Highly recommend.

The dance party I always wanted!!

After booking my wedding venue, the very next vendor I confirmed was the DJ. I mean, this is a big decision, almost as big as choosing your spouse. I am SO happy I chose Colleen and Sugartown Industries. She gave me, my husband and our guests the best dance party we could've asked for. She knew how to perfectly read the room, made sure everyone felt included in the party, and didn't bat an eye when we threw her some last minute curve ball requests. Almost every single guest, young and old, commented on how great the music was. Everyone says the food and the music make a wedding, but really it's the music and Colleen brought it.

I highly recommend her and am looking for the next excuse to throw a party with a DJ so I can hire her again.

Colleen rocked our wedding so hard!

DJ Colleen is brilliant! Our wedding was DIY and we leaned heavily on the information Colleen provided to us during one of our early calls. Based on her experience, she formatted the schedule for us and things went so smoothly. Her song lists and recommendations were exactly what we were looking for — plenty of crowd pleasers without venturing into lame wedding territory. She accommodated all of our odd requests and transitioned between them all exquisitely. People danced all night and everyone had such a great time! She absolutely crushed it. Please use her for your wedding!

Best. DJ. Ever.

From the very first days of wedding planning, my husband and I knew one thing: We wanted our guests, of all ages and backgrounds, to DANCE. And dance they did, thanks to Colleen! She was so much fun to work with from the very beginning, offered excellent suggestions logistical and otherwise, and did a fantastic job blending some of our favorite music with great surprise tracks. Don’t think twice and hire Sugartown Industries if you want your wedding to be the best party you’ve ever been to—mine was!

Couldn't Ask for a Better DJ

We had the extreme pleasure of working with Colleen for our wedding last weekend, and the experience could not have been more ideal. She went above and beyond my expectations -- making the process of narrowing in on how we wanted our music to go incredibly easy, and she actually made planning out the course of the evening easy as well! Not at all what I was expecting. She took our music recommendations and really fleshed out the set, mixing tracks we requested with some unexpected jams as well, surprising and delighting us and keeping our entire wedding on the dance floor all night long. We had so many compliments on her set throughout the evening. She also loaded in and out with minimal intrusion as well. I would highly recommend her for any event you had coming up!

Colleen made it clear to us from the first discussion about DJing our wedding in the Catskills - she had one job, to make people dance. And she does that job WELL. Sure I could rave about the excellent communication, the smooth process of explaining our musical vision (her willingness to meet both in person and via video conference is super helpful), and the fantastic day-of coordination, all of which were great. But really the result speaks for itself - everyone was on the floor from the start of her set to the very end. Brilliant work, highly recommended.

Colleen was so great to work with. We just used Colleen for our wedding in the Catskills last weekend and we absolutely loved working with her. We did all of our meetings through videochat which was very convenient for us. Aside from giving us a lot of insight and suggestions regarding music, she also gave us a lot of information about our venue which is what ultimately led us to book with her after our initial meeting. Since our wedding was semi-destination, it was important for us to book vendors who really knew and understood how our venue works. Colleen provided the music for all aspects of our wedding (ceremony, cocktail & reception). She listened to what styles we did and did not want and we had the best 90's dance party that we could have ever asked for! Our guests are still raving about how much fun they had and how different the music selection was. There was never a time that the dance floor was empty. I highly recommend booking Colleen if you are looking for a DJ for your wedding!

Colleen is the best! She played our wedding last weekend at the Greenpoint Loft and so many of our guests have since reached out to me to say how much they loved the music and that they want the playlist! My husband, Chris, stumbled upon Colleen’s website and knew she was right for our wedding this past November. Colleen is great to work with, and very responsive to any music/timeline questions or concerns. She had incredible suggestions on songs for certain moments for the entire ceremony and reception from beginning to end. My husband and I are Cuban and wanted to have a mix of salsa, and dance/throwback songs. There was never a moment where the dance floor was empty. People PARTIED. DJ Colleen Crumbcake was amazing! Almost everyone after the wedding (even the manager for the event space) asked for her number for future weddings / events. During the reception we had to switch around the format due to some unforeseen circumstances and she was on top of it and knew exactly what to do. We would highly recommend her!

When my fiancé (now husband) and I were planning our wedding, one of the top things we concentrated on was having good music! We are huge music fans and wanted the overall vibe of the wedding to be a big party. Colleen was the perfect DJ for us. She played songs that got everyone up and dancing and also curated the perfect list of songs for cocktail hour and dinner. So organized, responsive, creative with her music selection, super personable, etc.

The one thing I keep looking back on is that I wish we had another hour or two for MORE dancing! we've already given her information to two other couples getting married in 2018 and 2019 so we absolutely recommend her services!

Colleen/Sugartown Industries was AMAZING. Colleen is incredibly organized and provides a ton of great materials beforehand to learn your music tastes and play exactly what you love. We had AT LEAST 10 guests (from across generations) come up to us at the wedding and say how awesome our DJ was. Colleen had everyone dancing and was a great MC for the evening. I think a big thing that people don't think about is how well a DJ caters to different generations in one event and Colleen absolutely nailed this. Colleen gave us a ton of advice on what she thought would make a good wedding (above and beyond what a normal DJ might do), and we ended up using the schedule she recommended - it went perfectly! If you need a DJ for a wedding (or anything) use Colleen and enjoy! She's the best.

Colleen was such a wonderful DJ, and a really funny and kind person! She was incredibly communicative and organized throughout the whole process. We were nervous about having a good dance party and Colleen made that happen! She played the songs we loved and kept the event running smoothly, communicating with our coordinator throughout. It was so important to have an experienced and fun DJ on our big day, everything was wonderful and fun! As a queer couple she was also very respectful of pronouns and asked what sort of language we prefer, was really refreshing. Would recommend her highly!

Colleen was fantastic! In our initial calls, she was more prepared than we were, asking all the important questions about our ceremony and reception that we hadn't thought about. She was happy to accommodate our outdoor ceremony by bringing along an assistant and wireless mics, and they transitioned seamlessly to the indoor cocktail hour. During the reception, her music selection was on point! Everyone was asking if it was my playlist but it was all Colleen. She kept the dance floor going for hours!

Colleen was an absolute pleasure to work with!! I wanted to have her at our wedding from the moment I looked at her website and read the lists of songs that she will not play lol! Since my husband and I are currently living on Long Island, we FaceTimed with Colleen instead of meeting her in person, and she was a delight to chat with. DJ Taro was the man! He put together a killer set of music for us and listened extremely well based on our interests. If you are looking for a DJ that really cares about the music and the atmosphere of the party, then this is your guy! No cheesy DJ gimicks or over-the-top shout outs, just awesome jams all night long! We loved how he provided us with a list of songs he would 'rather not play', because we are also not fans of over-played lame wedding songs. All our guests danced until our feet hurt and had a great time. Marrying a Puerto Rican girl, DJ Taro also did his homework and incorporated a perfect amount of latin salsa dance music. All and all, DJ Taro was super friendly and great to work with - highly recommend!

Colleen was amazing to work with! Music was a huge part of our wedding! We wanted the dance floor full all night and she totally made that happen :) We were so involved in the process from the very start which was exactly what we wanted. She had us mark up a huge song list to make sure we were a great fit. Unlike a lot of other DJs we've experienced at weddings she didn't talk too much to the crowd which I always find annoying and only checked in with us if necessary. She was able to feel out the crowd to play the music that kept them on the dance floor, my parents included and they never dance at weddings. She was always responsive with questions and had great suggestions for us during the planning process. We would absolutely recommend Sugartown Industries!!!!

Colleen was amazing!!!! Great song selection and song progression. Her MC'ing was upbeat but never cheesy. Perfect DJ for a New York wedding.

We had a long reception with a smallish number of guests. These are the type of people who would normally just sit at their tables at most weddings but even so the dance floor was full the entire time. She was super helpful leading up to the wedding with song selection, schedule, etc so we literally had to think about nothing the day of the wedding.

I do not have a bad thing to say about Colleen, she was fantastic!
The music was so on point to what we wanted and she was extremely aware and organized when it came to our needs. She also created a great schedule for us that we used to coordinate with the photographer.
We had a very similar taste in music, which was a big plus. What originally had drawn us to her was her website and what she 'does not play' and it was also everything we disliked too haha. Colleen will never do cheesy, not to worry.
People at the end of the night came up to us consistently raving about our music/DJ, the last 3 hours of our wedding was a non-stop dance party! We never left the dance floor (plus it also helps when both of your families love a good wedding/party).

Colleen is a fantastic DJ. The main thing that we wanted from our music at our wedding was a fun dance party, and Colleen completely delivered. Having been to a few weddings where guests barely danced, both with DJs and with bands, we were nervous about music at our own wedding. But having hired Colleen, we were in safe and experienced hands. Our dance floor was packed with guests of all ages from the beginning of the first song to the end of the very last song, which came so quickly it was hard to believe, and we got many compliments on our music both that night and afterwards. From our first conversation with Colleen we found her to be organized, responsive, and professional. She has excellent and eclectic music taste, as you can tell by looking at her song list on the Sugartown website, but she tailors the night completely to your preferences. Colleen has a great system for soliciting input from the couple and is also happy to provide as much feedback and as many suggestions as you want. She also helped us with strategizing the schedule of the night in order to get our food served quickly and to have the dance party going for as long as possible. Colleen is relaxed and easy-going as a person, and as a DJ she lets the music do the talking. Finally, she is very reasonably priced, and after the wedding she provided us with a list of every song she played so that we can relive our wedding again and again. Our wedding was an incredibly fun party, and we owe so much of that to Colleen.

Wells was amazing! At every step he went above and beyond. He met with us to discuss the music, helped us come up with a killer play list, and even brought a great collection of vinyl records to the wedding. His love for music is really palpable. He managed to play a range of music that appealed to every group at the wedding without pandering or playing anything cheesy. Every song was absolutely perfect. He did a great job as MC as well. He moved things along and introduced the toasts and other highlights without being overbearing. Wells's wife also assists him, and their rapport adds an element of joy as well. More than once they were themselves dancing during the reception. And when the speakers and mic didn't arrive for the ceremony (which was in a separate outdoor location), Wells even saved the day by setting up one of his own speakers and lending us a mic.

We would recommend him in the highest terms possible (and have already).

Colleen was AMAZING! From the planning process to the end of the wedding, Colleen was nothing but sweet, insightful, flexible, professional, and straight up AWESOME! When our ceremony musicians didn't work out, she came to the rescue without hesitation. We are so grateful to have worked with her. We knew Colleen was exactly our style upon meeting her for the first time through Skype and she did not disappoint the day of the wedding. We loved the old school vibe she brought to the dance floor while reading what the crowd wanted. The dance floor was PACKED all night which is exactly what we wanted, and it couldn't have been done without her. DJ Dustin was awesome! He was very easy to talk to and very responsive in our correspondence. Dustin offered helpful suggestions with the order of the playlist and moments that we really didn't think about (cake cutting). He was an awesome DJ and I would highly recommend him. Our guests had a great time at our wedding and we had several people come up to us at the end of the night saying that they loved the playlist.
DJ Colleen Crumbcake was so helpful in setting up our meetings with Dustin and was even present during the setup of our ceremony and stayed to help coordinate the bridal party entrance and exit. DJ Wells from Sugartown Industries was our wedding DJ and he was awesome in every way. We had an opportunity to meet with him in person two times so we could feel comfortable about every last detail of the wedding. Sugartown Industries has a giant list of songs and artists that we went through so Wells knew exactly what we liked and didn’t like. This made for an incredible playlist not only of artists we specifically mentioned to him, but artists that fit the genres we liked best. He did an amazing job keeping people young and old on the dance floor by changing the type of music as needed, he really had a good feel for the crowd. After the wedding, he even sent along the complete playlist from the cocktail hour and reception so we could enjoy it for years to come. We highly recommend DJ Wells and Sugartown Industries!

We loved DJ Colleen! She was detailed, responsive and very helpful during the whole planning process. DJ Colleen Crumbcake rocked our wedding. Our dance floor was packed from start to finish. She created a reception specific to our musical taste and vision while also reading the crowd. All our requests were met and each song was a hit. From our parents, to our ring bearer to even our pregnant friends, EVERYONE danced the night away. We couldn't recommend her more highly.

DJ Dave provided the perfect soundtrack to our wedding. He had 3 generations on the dance floor, including my teenaged cousins - no small feat. My wife had never seen her parents dance before but Dave's music selection even coaxed them into the fray.

The foundation for this success started during the planning process, with Colleen from Sugartown matching us with Dave and outlining a series of exercises and conversations to help us identify and communicate our musical expectations. Conversations with Dave were comfortable, yet professional and we always left the conversations feeling both that we had a better idea of what we wanted and that Dave understood what we were looking for.

Both Colleen and Dave were extremely responsive throughout the process, responding to emails quickly. Dave even helped us scout out additional audio equipment from a 3rd party to meet a late-breaking venue requirement.

All told, we received lots and lots of positive feedback from our guests about the music and would HIGHLY recommend DJ Dave to other couples looking for a thoughtful DJ, who will help you align on your musical tastes, and can incorporate everything from motown to indie music into their event.

Sugartown is a great company. My two sisters and I all used different DJs from their company for our weddings, and we were all super pleased with the job they did. Wells Crandell dj'd our wedding this June, and he did an excellent job. We spoke to him on the phone twice before our wedding, and then several times over email the couple of weeks before. He was always super responsive and resourceful, including sourcing obscure ethnic songs to appease my melange of a family. Booking a DJ is always nerve-wracking unless you have heard them play before, because they can make or break a wedding. Wells definitely amplified our wedding experience. He did a great job of mixing in our favorites with older tunes for older folks and was super flexible during the whole time. Can't recommend him enough!

Music was one of the top priorities for our wedding so I researched quite a few DJs before contacting Colleen at Sugartown. I was super optimistic that Sugartown would deliver an amazing night though not only because of the reviews but because of the website. When I read through their OWN "do not play list" I said, "Done."

Thankfully though, I wasn't done. Colleen was awesome and very prompt/responsive with emails which was extremely helpful. But meeting with our DJ, Tony, is what really sealed the deal for us. Right away his personality and vibe put us completely at ease. He's very down to earth and calming, which is exactly what I wanted to surround myself on my wedding day. But more importantly, when I told him my favorite band, he told me they are one of his favorites too! At that point in the meeting I said, "Done!" However, my husband-to-be wanted to talk more about the music and vision for the night and after the full meeting he was as blown away as I was. It literally was the perfect fit.

So both of our families are really into dancing and partying. Let me tell you, the dance floor was packed! I cannot tell you how many people have told us our wedding was the best wedding they have ever been to, and Tony is a huge reason why. He played everything we wanted and more. I've already recommended them to some friends and the wedding was a week ago! I would recommend Tony and Sugartown to anyone who wants "the best wedding ever". DONE!

When my fiance and I were planning our wedding, we kept thinking the same thing: "We don't want a lame party." We wanted it to be fun, and we wanted our friends and family to enjoy themselves-- without being obligated to participate in the Electric Slide, Macarena, or a conga line. Picking the right DJ was thus extremely important to us. We reached out to Sugartown Industries because they were all about good music, and they expressly avoid cringeworthy, cliched wedding songs. We wanted familiar classics and cult hits, mixed with modern pop, rock, and hip-hop (with just a smattering of up-and-coming bands for good measure).

For our event, we were set up with DJ Taro. We met him twice before the wedding and were in regular contact via email to manage the process. The first time we met, he got an initial sense of how the timeline of the wedding would work and how the equipment would be setup at the venue. He gave us some homework to figure out what music we would both be happy with (super important). We then met him once more a few weeks prior to the big day to review all the details, as well as our choices of favorite songs and bands. He took care of the rest.

We couldn’t be happier with how the music turned out; Taro fit in all of our requests and did a great job at getting everyone out on the dance floor. We've heard from many of our friends that it was the most fun wedding they had been to. Taro delivered a top-notch vibe for a fun wedding, with excellent professionalism throughout. We highly recommend Sugartown to anyone looking for unique, atypical wedding music!

We used DJ Tevis from Sugartown for our March wedding. She was so nice and bot she and Colleen were great to work with. We gave her a list of songs we wanted to hear at the wedding. She worked them in fantastically with some additional songs we hadn't thought of and kept the dance floor full all night. I don't think I left the dance floor once. After the wedding, everyone told us how much they loved the music. Would highly recommend Tevis and Sugartown.

I am not really into dancing, but I am almost certain I could have been a serious contender on "Dancing with the Stars" at my wedding reception.

Thanks due to Wells Crandall of Sugartown Industries - an amazingly talented, down to earth DJ who would likely sooner face plant into your wedding cake than play "The Chicken Dance" at your reception.

My husband and I met with Wells three times before the wedding to plan the ultimate playlist. These meetings were relaxed and fun, as Wells has a cool demeanor that makes meeting with him seem like an old friend. The genius of Wells is that he quickly picks up on the crowd's tastes, and incorporates a variety of music that is both popular and fun. No song is played in duration (unless the crowd is raging), and the variety and lack of slow songs keeps things moving.

In an unwieldy testament of the awesome music, my guests did the following (amazing!) things:
- A double dutch dance with an invisible jumprope
- Lots of (literally) ass-busting breakdancing
- A human train that weaved throughout The W hotel
- Shattered many a glass on the dance floor ( yeah, we know how to party)
- Refused to leave! As the clock struck midnight, we demanded one more song ... and our wish was granted.

If it were socially acceptable, I would build a tiny musical shrine of old CDs dedicated to the fabulousness that is Sugartown Industries. Instead, I will make due with the playlist Wells provided after the wedding, which I listen to often to remind me of what a great event.

Sugartown Industries was a joy to work with. Colleen managed the whole process beautifully. She was great at communicating with me and giving me details when I needed them (something that was problem with other DJs). We had Taro as our DJ and he was wonderful! We were concerned because we had tons of musicians of all kinds in our pool of guests as well as people from all walks of life with very different musical tastes. Taro was wonderful at finding ways to please everyone. Many people commented on how great the music was. He set the mood for every part of the wedding and it ended in a fantastic dance party that included everyone from our elderly guests to the teenagers. We couldn't have been happier.

My husband and I met with DJ Colleen Crumbcake at one of our favorite bars in Philadelphia. Colleen was so great. She's easy to get along with, gave great advice, and put together an amazing soundtrack based on some of our requests and some that she inputted based on our style. We were approached by SO many people the day of the wedding and after the wedding complimenting the music. We had a nice size dancefloor - not too big, not too small, but it was crammed (in a good way) because everyone was up dancing. She really knows how to keep the party moving. After the wedding she sent us a thank you card which was truly nice. We loved working with her and would recommend Sugartown to anyone looking for a DJ who knows their stuff :)

We literally searched for "Non Cheesy" DJ for our wedding and luckily found Sugartown Industries, who came through with excellent NON-CHEESEBALL music as promised. Colleen was very responsive from the beginning, promptly helping to arrange a meeting with our DJ. We had DJ Wells for our wedding, and we were 100% satisfied with everything – from our meetings to the actual wedding. He was very accommodating to our requests. We wanted specific songs edited for our intro, which was a little confusing but he nailed it! The dance floor was filled the entire night, at one point we had everyone on the dance floor in a huge sing along. It was epic. We allowed for DJ Wells to take requests (which I was a little worried about) but he kept them in check and played only those that he thought my husband and I would have wanted to hear. We even had one of our guests ask DJ Wells if he was available for her wedding! Music was a priority for our wedding and we couldn’t have been happier.

When it came to the point in our wedding planning that we had to choose a DJ, we started to become very apprehensive that no one would be able to channel our eclectic music taste, as well as pull it all together so that our guests would all be out of their seats and partying. Taro of Sugartown Industries did just this! Upon meeting him, we immediately felt very comfortable. Greeting us with a great smile and classy style, we were sold as soon as he began to talk to us about our big day and how he is focused on creating a classy party atmosphere that adults and young adults could appreciate alike. Sugartown Industries has a seemingly flawless method of channeling just what you want played and balancing that out with the needs of the guests. It is with nothing but the finest expertise that Taro was able to slip from Indie, to current pop, to solid gold and motown without losing one person from the dance floor. His taste is impeccable and he was graceful, elegant, and appropriate on the microphone whenever it came time for him to make an announcement. Throughout the night, our guests kept asking us where we found such a great dj that knows it all without having to rely on top 20 current hits. We are so thankful for Taro and Sugartown Industries for making our wedding a hit. There is no doubt that we would not be "the most fun wedding" our friends have been to if he were not there. Dealing with Colleen of Sugartown Industries was also a pleasure as she helped to set up our meetings and catered to every question and quandary that we had in a timely fashion. We would recommend Sugartown to our closest friends in a heart beat. We really cannot say enough great things about them! THANK YOU TARO AND SUGARTOWN!!

Dave was incredible! Everyone danced the whole time, which was our ultimate goal. In fact, they wanted more at the end and chanted "One more song! One more song!" Dave sat down with my husband and I and went over all the music we wanted and hated. He made suggestions. Best of all he is a really nice guy. Colleen was very nice to work with as well. We only had contact with her through email and later met her at another friend's wedding. She did a great job too. I believe that all of my friends who have gotten married in the New York City area have used Sugartown Industries. Love them!

Colleen was wonderful! From the very beginning, we knew we were getting more than just a DJ when we hired her. Colleen is also very experienced in planning out the timing of wedding receptions. She offered lots of advice on planning the order of our reception so that we could get our food out early and maximize our dance party time - our two priorities. She was also so organized and played all of the music we wanted to hear. And finally, our dance floor was PACKED with people of all ages all night. "I want to thank you so much for an incredible experience. You win the prize for the vendor that the most people raved about all weekend. My father has been going on and on about the DJ for 36 hours. Thank you so much for making the long trip.

You were incredibly discreet and classy while also getting people to do what they were supposed to do, when they were supposed to do it! I knew you were always on top of it.

DJ Taro provided the music at our wedding in August and both we and our guests are still raving about how amazing the music was. Everything about working with Sugartown Industries and with Taro was fantastic right from the start. Before we had even booked anything, Taro spent about an hour sitting with us face to face to go over our musical preferences and how we wanted the evening to go. He is so organized, easy to work with, responsive and really listens to your preferences. He also really understands the balance of trying to keep all generations on the dance floor but without playing any tired cheesy wedding music. He also seamlessly integrated a number of Hindi songs into the party. We had felt really confident after meeting with Taro that the music at our wedding would be awesome but he way exceeded our expectations. Thanks Taro & Colleen at Sugartown for everything!!

We've heard so many stories of friends who had or attended weddings in which the DJ ignored the couple's advance music requests or played only music that is perhaps trendy but not what the crowd is into. Colleen was very collaborative as we planned our wedding -- asking for must-have songs and asking about the flow of the evening so we wouldn't miss our favorites while taking photos, etc. The music was outstanding and we were able to enjoy so many of the songs we wanted to hear. Our guests kept telling us how much they loved our DJ. We could not have made a better choice.

We got DJ Taro for our wedding and we couldn't have been happier! As most couples know, the planning process is grueling but our experience with Colleen and Taro was nothing short of wonderful! Walking away from our meeting with Taro, we agreed that music was the ONE THING we had no concerns about. He completely "got" us from the start. We loved his music recommendations - they were perfect. My husband and I are not music snobs, but we're definitely not Top 40 people either. We wanted "our" music, which can be a bit obscure to some, but we wanted people to get into the groove at the same time and not "sit it out" because it was unfamiliar. A good tip: guests want familiar. Taro understood that and crafted a playlist that perfectly reflected our taste but didn't alienate our guests. The dance party raged on and by the end of the night, so many of our guests asked me if we could get them the soundtrack to our wedding. Also, Taro's manner is not showboat-y; he emceed it in an understated way, keeping the party going and without hollering out to the crowd every other song. He took requests and even came to find me on the dance floor to run a request made by my mom that was on our "do not play" list. He also downloaded songs right on the spot upon request! Prior to the wedding, I explained to friends that our wedding wasn't going to sound like any wedding they've ever been to before, but it's still going to sound like a wedding. Taro delivered in droves!

We found Wells via Colleen, who had DJ'ed my brother's wedding. We asked if she knew any wedding DJs who could speak both French and English -- and she recommended Wells. And he was perfect.

During our first meeting, we explained that we are a Franco-American couple and that our families would be meeting for the first time at the wedding. We had three goals with the music:
*We very much wanted the the reception to feel integrated, not have two separate groups doing their own thing, and felt strongly that it would be the music (and secondarily the seating) that would facilitate this.
*We thought we could make the French side to feel included even as we were following American traditions (ie - first dance, cake cutting etc) by having our DJ could introduce each custom in French as well as English.
*We wanted everybody to dance and have fun!

Wells and his assistant Tara exceeded expectations.

First he's a good listener. He got what we were trying to do and created a blended French/ American playlist that kept people on the dancefloor all night long. Second, he loves music and was enthusiastic about doing a different kind of wedding. The French playlist was to die for - he really did his research.

Everybody danced, everybody mingled, and many people (both American and French) told us it was the best wedding they had ever been to. So many people commented on the music specifically. The tunes and tone went so well that even some guests thought he was one of our friends!

I knew that I wanted a DJ who wouldn't play anything cheesy and would have a good idea of our musical taste. We first met with Colleen a little more than a year before our wedding and then again about a month before. She is super friendly and helpful and responded quickly to my e-mails. She did such a great job at the wedding, playing all of our requested songs and so many more fun songs. She really played a great mix and helped make our wedding an awesome night. I would definitely recommend Sugartown Industries!

Colleen was incredible. The feedback from all of our guests (and we spanned the generations from ages 3 to 75) was that the music was amazing. She really listened to us and customized the music to fit our personalities, tastes, and what our guests would like. She also threw in some surprises just for us, which was an amazing touch on our day. I cannot recommend her highly enough.

We had DJ Taro for our wedding and he was absolutely amazing. Our guests are still raving about him. From the very beginning of the planning process, he really got it. We named a few songs and the overall vibe we were going for and he was instantly able to suggest other similar/better songs that fit right in. During the wedding, we also had a band for earlier in the evening and we were a bit nervous about the flow but he made it completely seamless and painless. His announcements were unobtrusive and perfectly timed. My guests danced the ENTIRE night and he even allowed a bonus number after the last song was played. I highly recommend DJ Taro and PopShop DJs for your wedding - you won't be disappointed!

DJ Wells Crandall was incredible. We met twice over a 9 month period and gelled instantly. He really took the time to understand my musicial influences/taste and the atmosphere I was hoping to create. Boy, did he deliver! My guests said this was the best wedding music they ever heard. The dance floor was occupied all night. The cocktail hour set the tone of an elegant dinner and the ceremony music created a spiritual and loving energy. I was going to write that contracting with Sugartown Industries was the best decision I made about my wedding, but need to edit that- deciding to marry my groom was the best decision, but Sugartown was the second-best! Seriously, I cannot recommend them enough. We chose Sugartown based on an internet search for non-cheesy wedding DJs in the NY metro area. I have been to enough weddings with cheesy, overbearing DJs, playing the same twenty songs, and we knew we wanted something a little different for our wedding. Our DJ was Mona Dehghan and from the first time we Skyped with her, we absolutely loved her. I was pretty intimidated at first because she has lots of music cred, and we have pretty mainstream taste in music. But, she was so sweet and funny and nice. What really sold me was when we told her that we wanted our wedding to just be a big dance party and she said that she wanted everyone to just have the feeling of elation all night long. That was the perfect way to sum up how we wanted the reception, too. She was really respectful of our mainstream tastes and selections and gave us some great options for different special songs. During the reception itself, Mona was absolutely amazing. She totally got our vision and our family and friends and had everyone on the dance floor all night. It was amazing to see the generations and some very disparate groups of friends and families mixing it up on the dance floor- literally all night. She managed my sometimes overbearing family's requests so well- at one point the Irish side kept requesting Irish songs and the Italian side said something- so she played the Tarantela. It was really funny and fun- and perfectly timed. I literally cannot say enough about Mona, she was the best DJ I could possibly imagine- she read the crowd perfectly, she incorporated all of our ten "must play" songs seamlessly, and I would recommend her to anyone who is looking for a wedding DJ that is not "typical" and cheesy but fun, classy, and energ

DJ Taro was the DJ for our wedding and he was really great to work with. Professional and always prepared he was great with suggesting songs and helping us with figuring out the right songs we wanted for our wedding.

After the first meeting he suggested putting a piece of paper on the fridge to write down songs that happened to pop into our heads that would be great for the wedding and that really worked well!

While we never had to meet up with Colleen, she was really prompt and responsive through emails and it was a pretty seamless process.

During the night of DJ Taro kept the dance floor going all night long. His announcements were never overpowering or obnoxious but really cool and classy. Just what we wanted.

We're really glad we had DJ Taro and Sugartown Industries as our DJ vendor.

We could not have asked for a better wedding DJ than Colleen of Sugartown Industries. From the moment we first sat down with her, we knew she was going to be easy to work with, responsive, and extremely capable. She turned out to be all of those things and more! During our planning stages, Colleen provided a ton of great music suggestions for everything from ceremony and dinner music to first dance and parent dances. She was always available either by phone, over email, or in person to answer any questions that we had. We felt totally comfortable going into our wedding that she was going to do a great job-- and she definitely did. The flow of the evening was perfect, mostly due to her suggestions. She kept a low profile the entire time, gently "guiding" guests from one part of the evening to another but never monopolizing the microphone or coming across as a typical "wedding DJ." And the dance party portion of the reception was amazing! She covered everything we had requested while also throwing in some great choices of her own, which we loved. Our music selections really ran a range of old/new, pop/alternative, fast/slow, and Colleen did a fantastic job working everything together so it flowed perfectly. We're still hearing from guests both old and young about how great the music was. Even the girl manning our gelato station was rocking out as she scooped! We're so happy we chose Colleen as our DJ and could not be more pleased with her work. We highly, highly recommend her!

Looking back at my wedding, my DJ was my best decision. Colleen from Popshop DJs was always responsive and incredibly organized and professional. Dave Fischoff was our DJ and the music from beginning to end was perfect. He was flexible, easy to reach in advance, helpful, offered suggestions and advice and every one of my friends commented on the music. He knew what to play to keep people dancing. I could not recommend them enough.

My husband and I were not really the wedding types and were fairly difficult through the planning process. While our parents wanted us to have a big, traditional affair, we wanted to keep things on the smaller side without the typical wedding hooplah. Initially, people were confused and hesitant when they heard we were using a DJ for our wedding. Our parents begged us to go the more traditional route of having a band, but we resisted. Needless to say, Colleen proved everyone wrong! Guests raved about the wide array of great music played - how appealing it was to everyone, both young and old. From the start, Colleen understood what we were looking for. From knowing our tastes, she was able to select songs that both our guests and we would enjoy. Colleen understood that neither of us liked being the center of attention and helped us get through typical wedding traditions in the least cheesy, most comfortable way possible. Colleen was easy to deal with throughout the whole process, and was extremely professional and accommodating! The dance floor was packed the entire night, and we have Colleen to thank for making our wedding so fun! I highly recommend Colleen for your big day!

Our DJ Dave was amazing! Thank you so much for making our wedding day memorable. Dave was very receptive to our needs, and requests. The evening flowed perfectly thanks to Dave's help. We had our wedding at Bubby's, so since he had done other events there before, he was very helpful in assisting me with my timeline. Emails and phone calls were returned in a timely fashion and the prices were extremely reasonable. The entire experience was pleasant and professional. Thank You to Colleen and Dave!

Pop Shop was great to work with. Colleen was very responsive, proactive & professional. Eric was my DJ. He's very friendly & flexible. We met with him initially to go through our vision and shortly before the wedding to go over the final details. Being that he's been to many weddings I appreciated getting his advice on how things should flow. On the day of the wedding, my family ended up dominating the dance floor. I didn't anticipate this but am very grateful to Eric & his assistant for changing things around & being able to find songs that kept them on the dance floor. If you want to work with a professional DJ company that knows all types of different types of music, Pop Shop is for you.

Taro Baugham of popshop! djs is an original. The collection of vinyl he transported all the way to Yonkers had to be a fraction of what he owns and it was impressive in its own right. He had everyone wishing it was dance time from the moment the speakers turned on during cocktail hour. He was faithful to our must and do-not playlists and was dressed to impress. His manager, possibly the owner of popshop!, Colleen acted as the point person for us and was very accessible over email. Popshop's professionalism and service makes it easy for us to recommend them on wedding wire.

Our DJ was Erik of PopShop DJs,

We thoroughly enjoyed working with Erik. He was super accommodating, friendly, fun and was the perfect DJ for our wedding dance party. Erik came highly recommended from the Indie Bride blogs, and I am so glad that he had our day available! We were on a very tight budget, and he worked with us to come up with a rate that was within our reach, and charged us at cost for his transportation out to Long Island (he is based in Brooklyn.)

We were considering doing an iPod DJ package with another DJ company - but when they stopped returning our calls within 3 months of the wedding, Erik saved the day! His rate was really reasonable - compared with other DJS we looked into (DJ GAZA for one) he was nearly half the price - and completely lived up to our high expectations.

We met with Erik twice prior to the wedding and we found him very professional and easy to talk to. Our friends really LOVE dancing, and I knew that we would need to somehow evenly balance the night between the Baby Boomer crowd (my parents friends) and our friends who get down to old-school hip hop, Janet Jackson, cheesy 90s tunes, etc. Erik completely “got it” and worked with us to create a perfect mix of 90s hip hop, 80s stuff everyone can dance to (but nothing cheesy – no “What I Like About You” or “Macarena” at our request.) The dinner hour was picture perfect - a combination of Bob Dylan, Fleet Foxes, the Shins, Edward Sharp, Paul Simon. I felt with other DJs that I met, that they would fight me on my choices. They would always seem to work in a "big band" section, or a "grease lightning" medley into the song choices they would suggest. When I said PLEASE NO LADY GAGA other DJs would say “yeah, but everyone is going to want to hear that, and you want people to dance, don’t you??" – instead Erik said “It's OK, there are millions of other songs we can play, so you don’t have to hear Gaga on your big day if you don't want to.”

From the second Erik started spinning – by the time salad was on the table, my friends were ready to dance. And, Erik met the challenge. He also handled our introduction announcement with grace. There were no “jock jams” being played – instead Erik completely respected our wishes for a low key entrance and made only about three announcements all night – which was just what we asked him to do.

He was great in working with our music and song list.

I highly recommend Erik Karff for your big day. He is the perfect DJ, really nice and fun to work with. Thanks Erik!!

Highly recommend popshop DJ. From the first conversation I had with Dave Fischoff (he works with Coleen at popshop DJ) till the last moment of the wedding, Dave was professional, insightful, attentive and always focused on delivering his best. He guided us through the event planning by asking us early on what music we want to play throughout the event. He made great suggestions and was very knowledgeable about music and party making. Thanks to Dave's specific questions and his experience, we were able to focus on planning many details early on. In some ways, I thought of Dave as the wedding planner advisor. We had a crazy dance party till 1am (we stayed as long as we could at our venue). Everyone was on the dance floor going wild. My friends continue to tell us that they haven't danced like that in a long time and that our wedding was the best and most fun one they have been at. In a large part, that is thanks to Dave. He made the whole event flow smoothly and without any issues. He played great music and he also looked good! popshop DJ is very professional organization and Coleen runs it effectively by taking care of the coordination and contract signing. It was a pleasure working with Dave and Coleen I highly recommend popshop DJ.

Colleen is the only DJ we met with, partly because we got so excited by her 12-pg PDF of all the songs she will and won't play (http://www.popshopdjs.com/music.html). We felt we were on the same page right away, and loved her music knowledge (although she doesn't come off as a music snob), her personality and the mixes she put together on her radio show ( http://www.eastvillageradio.com/modules.php?name=evrshow& ;showid=76). I loved that she asked for the mix of ages of the guests so she knew what she was working with, and that she has a policy to not leave the booth unattended (we were worried about some drunk friends/relatives getting a hold of the mic). Nobody got off the dance floor the entire night! One of our friends leaned over at the end of the night and said "Best DJ ever" while many others kept commenting us on our playlist. Of course, we gave the credit back to her!

Working with DJ Crumbcake (Colleen) was wonderful. When we were trying to find wedding music, we were so turned off by everyone who called themselves a "wedding band" or "wedding dj." When I saw popshop's website, I was so relieved to see a long list of music that I love. The djs at popshop do events, but that is not all they do. DJ Crumbcake also has a weekly radio show and spins at bars and venues all over New York. She traveled to Massachusetts for our wedding (we paid for her travel expenses). Everyone loved the dj and she kept people of all ages dancing all night. We had a blast. Colleen was a huge help to us throughout the planning process and helped us figure out many issues, such as flow. Fabulous experience! Highly recommend!

Colleen is the best! She DJ-ed our wedding this past weekend, and she really kept the guests dancing throughout the night! She's incredibly easy to work with - she doesn't just play music, she really works with you on the timing of events throughout your evening to make sure you + your guests have the best time. She has a great system for selecting music that incorporates what you + your guests will like while still leaving some room for surprise.

Music matters a lot to us, and Colleen really worked to incorporate a mix of all the kinds of music we wanted that managed to cater to our different guests, young and old. Overall, she's just funny, bubbly and professional - the perfect blend of personality traits in my opinion. You won't go wrong hiring her for your wedding!

Colleen from Sugartown Industries was the DJ at my February wedding and I don't think my husband & I could've picked anyone better for it. Not only is she an awesome lady who made us laugh & feel comfortable, she knows her stuff. Just going through Sugartown's song lists had us singing! When we suggested some lesser known songs (that are favorites to the 2 of us), Colleen found ways to incorporate them without making it obvious or having our guests go "Wait, wtf is this?". She kept the party going to the very end, making sure the music matched the guests (more mainstream & oldies when it was crowded, more of our personal tastes as the night slowed down & mostly friends were left). You can't not love a DJ that plays both "Ignition (Remix)" and "You're No Rock & Roll Fun" in the same night both happily and without question.

Dave from popshop! was AMAZING. I realize I'm biased, but our wedding was the best dance party I have ever been to and that's all on Dave. Our meetings with him were incredibly helpful as far as organizing the flow of the night and he killed it with the great songs during the actual wedding. His only tiny misstep came during the ceremony, when he played the groom's entrance song as the officiant came down the aisle. It was totally not a big deal and he more than made up for it with the awesomeness of the dance party.

We loved Colleen! She was extremely easy to work with and I found myself constantly thinking "I love this song!" throughout our wedding. Colleen was fantastic. She really has quite the system down for evaluating your musical taste, likes and dislikes and helps shape that into a party that pleases you as well as your guests. Do the homework she gives you and you will be pleased with the result. Everyone raved about the music and said she was the best dj ever. I got lots of people who marveled at how there was no corny music. Colleen is super knowledgeable about music and how to throw a fun party. She was responsive, easy going and lots of fun to work with. We highly recommend her for folks with diverse musical tastes and who want to keep the gimmicks and same old tired playlist away from their wedding.

We LOVED Dave Fischoff! He was so great, he played everything we requested from the more underground indie stuff to fun dance music. If you are not looking for "wedding music" I highly recommend this company.
We were very specific in what songs and bands we wanted and he listened and played exactly what we wanted and more! He was such a nice guy and had a nice "non-announced" voice that we loved. I recommend him and the entire Popshop dj squad to everyone!

I got nothing but compliments on the music. Colleen had a great mix of music for our crowd and we were pleased. She went above and beyond and her first and only priority was what we wanted in order for the guests to be happy.

It just so happens in our case, our wedding served as more of a reunion than a reception/party, but those of us (including myself) danced as much as we could, when we didn't need a break to munch and drink. I'd definitely use her company's services again and highly recommend.

DJ did an excellent job, before and during wedding. We were especially pleased with the advice she was able to offer regarding the flow of the night. I had Taro as my DJ from Sugartown, If I could rate him on his own, I'd give him 10 stars. He was on point with everything! When I was deciding on a DJ (which is prob the most difficult task when planning your wedding bc there isn't anything you can hear to just "know") I asked my friends on facebook for recommendations and two of the responses were for Sugartown, and the friends and I were like-minded in our music choices. I called, Colleen put Taro as our DJ. From the first conversation, its obvious he knows his stuff, has a broad spectrum of knowledge and he has this great soft voice so you know you aren't getting that " cheesy wedding dj" you fear of. Taro asked us a zillion questions and really was thorough and detail oriented planning the music out for our ceremony and reception. He seemed to genuinely care, there was no rushing which really put me at ease.
I especially loved that he and Sugartown had this list of song recommendations which made choosing ours a lot easier. At the wedding, Taro was awesome!! Taro knew exactly what to play to keep everyone on the dance floor that at the end of the night, the floors were shaking from everyone dancing and singing to the music. You know its a good party when the floors are moving :)
My only gripe *which really isn't that big of a deal, was that we had to go through Colleen for everything, I would've preferred to just directly reach out to Taro myself but I think that was just her system. Just got a little frustrating because twice she thought we were with another DJ and the final payment meet up got a little convoluted because she wasn't able to decide on where to meet me. But when I met her, I did think Colleen was a very sweet woman, it just seemed like she was so busy with work that she wasn't able to remember things. But Taro was always on board with our schedule so it all worked out perfectly at the end. Thanks Taro and Colleen, you made my wedding night so much fun!

Wells DJed our wedding and did an absolutely outstanding job. We wanted a DJ who avoided the cliche wedding music, and we got a DJ who really created a great party for our wedding guests.

Wells met with us twice before the event to clarify exactly the kind of music we wanted, and it went off perfectly. He was able to adjust on the fly when our schedule was slightly adjusted and was really perfect. I highly suggest Sugartown!

popshop DJ's wasn't one of the cheaper DJ's we looked at, but we made the decision that this was the one part of the wedding we didn't want to cut corners with. We wanted to avoid the typical wedding/bar mitzvah MC type DJ and too many of the shops we spoke with tried to push their smoke machine style productions. The others seemed the opposite extreme pushing certain specific genres of music. popshop on the other hand seemed flexible to work with us (as long as we didn't request line dances and kc and the sunshine band). After asking us a series of extensive questions about our tastes, they paired us up with one of their DJ's they thought would be a good match, Travis Harrison. Travis met with us twice to go through the kinds of music we wanted and how to pace the evening. He talked us into and out of a few things based on his experience, but also worked with a few specific ideas that we had. At the end of the day, we had the kind of music we wanted, some of which was very specific to our individual tastes, but it didn't have to come at the cost of the enjoyment of the rest of our guests. Travis did a great balancing act, and did so with professionalism and no over the top kitsch.

she was super awesome to work with the whole time, (even sent me a christmas card, i mean, thats just nice). it as a tricky wedding to dj as we neeed her to play greek music, social dance music to please the older folk, indian bhangra music, salsa (for my friends), hip hop/ contemporary.

so it as a huge mish mosh and I think that was difficult to deal with but she did a great job. the only thing I would recommend is to really think about how you want your music played when you meet with her and take the time to do this. For example, I wish that I had asked for a specific song after the first dance, or rather than give her 6 indian songs and her deciding which 3....I should have just told her the 3 I wanted her to play. She actually asked and was trying to push us for all this info, but I just figured it would work itself out and I think that since you're paying all that money, you SHOULD take the time to think about it and give her the preferences so she can make you as happy as possible.

great Dj though, great job! She was extremely professional throughout. popshop does NOT play any cheesy music which was what we wantd (no hustle, hokey pokey, etc).

Popshop is GREAT for brides and grooms who want fabulous music that is not so "traditional wedding" music- with a dj that give the excitement and fun a wedding deserves!

I found out about popshop from reading another review and upon emailing Colleen, she got in touch with us immediately and asked us questions about our musical taste so that she could put us in touch with a dj that would reflect the genre and style that is similar to ours (unfortunately she, herself was not available). Within days we were introduced to Travis who turned out to be JUST what we needed at our wedding to keep everyone up and having fun! We met with him to discuss our needs, songs that were on our "must play" list and to go over general logistical needs. He was great and did not have a pre set list of songs to play but really played music based on the mood of the crowd. So many other djs we interviewed were all about being in the business so long and basically setting up computers or cd players to take care of the night. While we talked with Travis about what we wanted, he did his homework to find the amazing songs that would reflect the feeling, the mood, and some artists that we wanted to hear.

My feet were KILLING me by the end of the night - because of all the dancing!

Travis was really great and even mixed a bit during dinner, he understood the flow of the evening and really got our oldest of relatives and even those ... young at heart up and dancing!

Colleen runs with a great group of djs- their website speaks for itself and the service is great!

The DJs are AMAZING! Sugartown is based out of New York and Philadelphia, but were available for our Connecticut wedding. I had heard wonderful things about Sugartown through Toast and Jam (another DJ vendor) in Chicago. While I had some initial challenges with the owner (e.g., responsiveness and errors in logistical details during the planning), our DJ (Tevis Jory), was beyond amazing, from our ceremony to the non-stop beats at the reception. Our guests remarked this was the BEST and most FUN wedding they had ever attended, which was very important to us. You know it's a good night when at the end, every guest is chanting in unison, "ONE MORE SONG! ONE MORE SONG!" I would *highly* recommend Sugartown for your tri-state (or surrounding area) wedding.
