  AMAZING food, cake, & service

  If you want fun, creative wedding food that doesn’t suck, this is the place to go. Working with Kelly and her team was such a breeze. They are super accommodating to different diets and food allergies. We also got our water goblets, places, flatwear, etc from them as well but the team had zero issues with using our special wedding plates/glasses.
  Now onto the best part… THE CAKE! Every cake from Sugarellas is beautiful, but ours was something special. We gave them a challenge with a Nightmare Before Christmas cake and they DELIVERED on a beautiful/delcious cake.
  We also had a late night snack of soft pretzels, cheese, and mustard and I could not recommend that enough.
  If you want beautiful and delicious food for your wedding, this is the place!

  Best wedding food and cake EVER!

  Do yourself a favor and hire Kim and her team at SugarElla’s. They were on the higher end of my budget, but it was worth every penny! Good food was my top priority for my wedding and they nailed it. The menu is creative and clearly made from scratch. Kim is flexible and willing to make your menu dreams come true- like a custom float bar! She even made sure all my loved ones with dietary restrictions were well taken care of.
  
  The cake deserves its own paragraph. I hate cake. She made me try a piece at the tasting and I was sold. It is the best cake I have ever had in my life. Ultra-light Italian buttercream frosting, just the right amount of fruit and frosting layered between delicate, moist cake… amazing. Not to mention she hand paints them with buttercream- no fondant!
  
  I wish this was a restaurant and not just a catering company so I could eat here all the time.

  Great experience!

  Sugar Ella was over the top as far as the food, professionalism and manner it was displayed. We rented the camper and it was such a unique touch to the venue. The coordinating of decorations with our colors were right on. You won't be disappointed with their service and quality!

  SugarElla's and Kim Putney Made Our Day Magical

  I cannot recommend SugarElla's catering enough. My husband Jake and I hired them for our wedding and from start to finish had the most wonderful experience with them. Kim Putney, the mastermind behind SugarElla's, was easy to work with, flexible, kind, and extremely professional.
  
  They scheduled us for a tasting right away and made us samples of everything we were interested in, and even a few things that we hadn't requested that Kim thought we might like. We ended up going with their sun-dried tomato stuffed chicken and their zucchini ravioli for our entrees. Both were incredible and we got compliments on the food all night. Also, in a world where vegetarian wedding options can be pretty sad at times, the zucchini ravioli was the star of the show not only for the vegetarians but for almost every guest who tried it. Additionally, the SugarElla's buffet comes with servers, which added an element of classiness that can sometimes be missing from self-serve buffets.
  
  Kim is also an expert baker. Jake and I decided to forgo a cake and frankly Kim's deserts were better than any Costco sheet cake we could have served. She gave us an awesome spread and we had people on the dance floor just trying to make room for more of her awesome bites. Kim also provided a late night snack for us, which came in clutch as our reception was one heck of a party. Overall, the food was amazing and we could not have been more pleased.
  
  Additionally, Kim was extremely hands-on all night, even going around to each table to check on our guests. We had so many people tell us how much they appreciated that level of service. Kim and SugarElla's helped make our night magical.
  
  Also, for brides on a budget, I would recommend SugarElla's. Kim worked with us and within our constraints to find a menu that suited our wants. Nowhere better! If you're considering SugarElla's, I would highly recommend them.

Day of, she made sure all the food was to temp as well as making sure everything was running smoothly. She checked in with our guests, is just so approachable, and really made our day special. People who don’t even typically enjoy rice and beans told us, “WOW. They’re DELICIOUS.” All that to say, Kim is the real deal and I can’t imagine what our day would’ve been like without her and her team. People are still telling us how good the wedding food was. *Get the chicken enchiladas, friends. You’ll love them.* Thanks Kim!

  SugarElla's is simply the best!

  We were taken immediately upon meeting Kim. She took our general idea of a Mexican fusion buffet and exceeded all of our expectations. There was little something for everyone - even a late night queso fountain! From our initial meeting and tasting to our wedding day, Kim was informative, flexible, and above all, professional. All the food was cooked to temp, and I cannot say how many guests complimented us on our food. We did not want to have standard wedding food, and SugarElla's absolutely delivered and then some. I cannot recommend them enough as they cater their meals to your specific wants and needs. Thanks so much to Kim and her wonderful staff!

  Found sugarellas by searching for Niles catering and looked at each company’s online portfolio. I was amazed at how great the food looked. When we sampled it everything was phenomenal! However you go into your wedding thinking the food served in mass can’t be as good because somewhere you lose quality for quantity. My standards for the world are now so much higher because not only did the food still taste spectacular, all of my guests let me know the food was fantastic. The process was simple. If I ever want a high class catered event I won’t feel the need to look anywhere else! They fed 80 guests like it was lightweight work and I couldn’t have been happier with the spread. They had appetizers ready for guests on arrival and the food was ready when I was in such a comfortable fashion I challenge you to find better catering.

  Above and Beyond Catering

  From my first phone conversation with Kim, I knew that we had to have her as our caterer. I gave her a very brief overview of our vision for our meal, breakfast for dinner with the main entree being my husband’s favorite, chicken and waffles. Where other caterers immediately turned down the idea as something that couldn’t be done, Kim ran with it! Within that very quick conversation, she had brought our idea to life with her own creative ideas. This catering service will not bring you the standard, bland steak and fish combo. At our tasting, every item she brought out was more delicious than the last, especially the goat cheese truffles! Not only was the food of high quality and delicious, Kim and her team went above and beyond by decorating their spaces with decor that aligned with our color scheme and vision. We began the evening with a 6ft charcuterie table that was almost too pretty to eat from, and polished the night off with a late night snack of pretzels out of the adorable little camper that Sugarellas provides as an add-on. Kim was also very accommodating for our guests with food sensitivities. We received so many compliments from our guests about the quality and creativity of the menu items. Overall, we loved Kim’s down-to-earth approach and creative energy - she really was a breath of fresh air and made the planning process so much easier. I would recommend Kim and her team to anyone that needed a caterer for any event, small or large!

  Moms Celebration of Life

  Kim and her staff did an awesome job helping us with our Mom's Celebration of life. When no other caterers could be found in September, Kim stepped up and helped us find a solution. The food was outstanding, in fact all our guest asked who was your caterer. Her personal touch made the day special for us. This is the caterer you should use!

  Huge thank you to Kim and Carly and the whole crew! You made our Notre Dame graduation party for our daughter and her friends so special! Every detail was thoughtful and perfectly executed. The food and execution was fabulous, and many guests made a point to tell us how fantastic all of the food was. We are so grateful to you for all of your hard work and going the extra mile to brainstorm and execute small, special details. Also, doing the trailer was a super special detail that made all of the difference in transforming our back yard. You made doing this party from 2,000 miles away comfortable and easy. We will absolutely be using you again soon!!!

  Sugarellas Catering

  Could not recommend Kim and her team more! Their service, food, professionalism, and punctuality are top-notch. Kim made sure we had everything in order well before the day of our wedding, so that we did not have any hiccups once the day started. She answered any and all questions with open arms, and made sure to keep us posted on anything that came up or we didn't know about. If you need catering, Sugarellas is the way to go! Not to mention, the food truck was a smash hit at the wedding. Everyone raved about the truck, food, deserts, and overall service by Kim and team. Thank you, Sugarellas!!

  Outstanding! We kept hearing about how good the food was!

  SugarElla's did such an amazing job with our wedding. After a few tastings from other caterers SugarElla's was a clear winner. They were excellent at accommodating special requests and dietary restrictions. Kim responded very quickly to emails and was very willing to work with our budget. The desserts were incredible (my only regret is not having time to eat very many of them). We kept hearing from our guests about how good the food was all night!

  Wonderful wedding and reception

  SugarEllas did a fantastic job for us! They had to improvise a bit on wedding day, and I am sure not a single guest noticed. We appraise their efforts and attitude! Thank you so much for helping contribute to a day we will remember forever!

  Wow! Beyond expectations!

  I found SugarElla's online. The folks at Aay's Rentals confirmed my selection so I reached out to Kim and Carli. They couldn't have been more wonderful to work with. SugarElla's is a true family operation. Kim runs the business with daughter Carli. She's also the pastry chef. Son Hunter is the chef and daughter-in-law Bridget is bartender extraordinaire. Wow, her margaritas were awesome! Ours was a Christmas in July memorial celebration. Kim and Courtney took the theme and ran with it. They used my mother's annual Christmas party menu and re-created it with signature updates like that awesome Black Pepper Parmesan dip. The decorated poinsettia cookies were works of art. And the darling "Little Ellie" trailer they decorated for Christmas and used as a bar - precious. Most importantly, I had a wonderful time at the party. Kim, Courtney and the gang handled absolutely everything so I could celebrate my mother's life with my guests.

  Exceptional Service

  I attended my daughters wedding on 11/08/2020, and I was very pleased with the service that Kim and her staff provided. They were personable and very professional. The dressing room that was an extension of the restrooms were well lit and impeccable. The food was fantastic ( especially the avocado rolls with the honey cashew sauce and the cake - soooo good). The tables were well decorated and everything was clean. Very good location with parking and a beautiful background view. I also liked that they followed Covid rules.

  Exceptional service & creativity

  With a wedding that needed to take place a little over 2 weeks of initial contact, Kim alleviated any stress that I could have with having a venue and catering in place. The professionalism, flexibility, creativity, and positive demeanor that her and the team displayed were awesome from beginning throughout. In addition, since my husband and I are vegetarians, Kim even experimented for our Taste test some amazing Avocado Rolls with a dip that practically everyone loved! Even guests who weren’t vegetarians were impressed. We also didn’t serve alcohol, so all the flavored drinks were perfectly exotic and tasty. Then the Cake, the Amazing Two Flavored Two Tiered Cake (Vanilla Raspberry Chocolate Chunks and Chocolate with Chocolate Chunks) was simply Ethereal. The frosting was just right with Not being too sweet. The flavors complemented the artistic detail and craftsmanship for the cake. Every edible Rose was crafted to perfection and matched the decor seamlessly. I am so happy we proceeded with SugarEllas and definitely will be partnering with them in the future. Highly recommended to look no further!

  SugarElla's was one of the best blessings of our rescheduled wedding!

  Our original wedding needed to be changed due to Covid, and we decided to move our big day from Chicago to Michigan, but doing so required us to secure a few new vendors, one of which was our caterer. I am so thankful our original plans changed and we had the ability to work with SugarElla's!! Kim has a top notch crew and is clearly so talented at what she does. I am appreciative of their communication leading up to the wedding and thoughtful questions that prompted a few items that I had overlooked.
  
  We heard nothing but compliments from our guests about the food, service, and presentation. Our guests favorite appetizers were the goat cheese balls, french onion won-tons and the shrimp cocktail. Guests could not get enough of the cocktail sauce and multiple even drank the extra cocktail sauce because they loved it so much! haha. We had compliments on how fresh the salad was, how delicious and hot the soup was when served, and how amazing it was that the beef was cooked to order and everyone's preference. The presentation of everything was flawless. We also used their 'Little Ellie' trailer for our bar, which our guests absolutely loved.
  
  Special thanks to Kim, Carli, Hunter, Bridget and the rest of the crew who were a delight to work with and made our day so special. If you are looking for a caterer in the Michiana area-you will not be disappointed with SugarElla's!!!!

  Great Food and Team!

  Great team, great food! Kim and her team were helpful and flexible, especially with the pandemic complications. She also helped bring my food vision to life, like doing a ranch dressing fountain! My guests loved the food! Kim also was so kind to send me a box of cookies when I was having a stressful week. So thoughtful!

  Lakeside Dream Wedding

  I was planning my wedding with Kim at SugarElla’s for over a year. I am from out of state, so our tastings had to be set up pretty far in advance whenever we were in town. She was always accommodating and made it work, no matter how many times I had to reschedule. They were the only caterer we even set a tasting with because we loved them so much right away! Since we had so much time to plan, the communication between us didn’t need to be immediate, so it worked well for me! Kim and her daughter Carly made sure my vision came true that day as far as decor and overall vibe, and I’m telling you it couldn’t have been better! We went with food stations as our meal: tacos, sliders and mac&cheese! The buffalo chicken sliders were everyone’s favorite! For apps we did a pretzel bar (also very popular) spinach artichoke dip, and mini charcuterie cups. Highly recommend ALL of it. If they couldn’t get any better, we chose to utilize they’re little trailer as a late-night snack and served mini milkshakes and mini grilled cheese, by far my favorite thing about the whole night. We did an all inclusive package and had SugarElla’s do our bartending and dessert as well. They’re a one-stop-shop and seriously made my life and planning this wedding just that much easier, they made the entire experience super personal and even made me a custom bar sign that had my dog on it. Talk about a high level of service. Every guest was a huge fan of everything SugarElla’s did and we couldn’t be happier!

  Kim of all Kim’s

  I’m not sure how exactly I found Sugarella’s for my wedding for catering. But I am SO GLAD I did. I set up a tasting for her and two other catering companies. She was first.
  
  I’ve taken the time to gather ideas for my own wedding as I’ve attended weddings over the years and one of the common themes has always been I don’t want the typical “wedding food”! Our people will come and I want to wine and dine them. They should get great food.
  
  Kim set up a table and set the mood. She talked us through each bit she brought out. What it was, what she could do for our wedding. How she’d make it special. She was enthusiastic and fun and totally KIM. We hit it off right away. What do you want? Let’s talk about it and we’ll create something. She told us about her business and her love of her job and her families love of their job. She told us what they strived for. She said “I don’t want it to be typical wedding food” and it was like she was dropped into my lap. My perfect wedding caterer. We went to one more tasting and it was so bland and impersonal. We didn’t bother going to the last one. Kim was our girl. We had Kim do our cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres, dinner and dessert shooters. We did not have a cake (altho we went to a tasting for her cakes and they were DELICIOUS). They’re just not our thing. I told her my husband and I loved tiramisu and she’s said done! We’ll do a shooter.
  
  When COVID hit, she never wavered. Supportive, responsive. She was in it when we moved our date. My aunts reached out to her when we had a bridal shower when lots of people were social distancing and communal food was frowned upon. She jumped at the opportunity to be creative and made individual trays for every guest. Reasonable priced and BEAUTIFUL. Everyone thought they were amazing and people still talk about them. She followed every protocol and due to COVID at our venue, could not do our food as planned. Hors d'oeuvres could not be self-serve and dinner could not be served buffet. She put in the work and supplied the staff to do plated dinners and passed hors d'oeuvres. She even made a separate plate of them and had it waiting for us immediately following the ceremony so we could stuff our faces before being whisked off to do pictures. Everything was spectacular. We had late night snack sliders (that tasted better than the steak we had in our tasting with the other caterer we didn’t choose).
  
  And the carriages! We rented one and dessert was served from them. They coordinate decor so everything fits in and they’re so dang cute and unique. We loved every second of working with Kim. I can’t say enough. Thank you Kim!!
