Stephen shot our wedding in September and our engagement photos in June and I could not have been happier with our choice to have him as a part of our special day. The process of choosing all of these vendors was overwhelming and Stephen did a wonderful job keeping me at ease, being a sounding board and reminding us that it's our day!
Our family and friends also raved about Stephen's energy and professionalism. I strongly recommend working with Stephen for a Wedding or any other life moments you may want to capture. He was also very helpful and flexible as my husband and I don't live in New York, so having someone give recommendations and guidance on Long Island was extremely helpful. -

Incredible Experience
We had the pleasure of working with Stephen on our wedding day. Throughout the entire process leading up to the wedding, he was attentive to detail, thorough and responsive. The engagement session made us comfortable with posing and we knew what to expect on our wedding day. The day of the wedding Stephen showed up early to scout the best locations and worked really well with our videographer he just met that day. Stephen was so efficient the day of the wedding we were ahead of our timeline and did not feel like e had to rush in between transitions of the evening. We got take a sneak peek at some of the photos on a device he set up next to the main door that displayed some of the special moments from the day - the guests and us loved that. Stephen is the guy to get if you need a photographer to capture your special day. He truly cares about what he does and your special moments will be in good hands.

To say how talented, professional, and the way he made us feel so comfortable oike know him for years, is an understatement.

* he dealt with my crazy family & MY NOW HUSBANDS FAMILY who was super unprepared for the morning of wedding morning session. Stephen handled this situation with the most professional, unbothered manner- yet made sure to keep the integrity of his craft and pivot on how to get the family shots he envisioned.

Best Photographer Experience For Engagement and Wedding Photos
Our wedding was on Feb 25, 2023. My husband and I would just like to say that we would recommend Stephen Mayo to anyone who needs professional photos done for ANY occasion. We had the pleasure of working with him over our year process of planning our wedding and it was the best experience ever. We started working together on our engagement photos which came out spectacular. We loved them as well as our family and friends. Stephen Mayo is a very respectful, genuine, hard working individual who was a pleasure to work with. We knew from then that we made the right choice to be working with him for our wedding as well. We would also like to include that he is very easy to get along with and works with you to ensure that you are happy with all the results!!!!

Absolutely Perfect
After our wedding plans got sidelined by covid we decided we still wanted a wedding photo shoot with our families and Stephen was so willing to work with us to get exactly what we wanted. He was incredibly helpful and easy to work with and went above and beyond in helping us secure a location as well as back up plans when it looked like the weather might not work out. My husband and I don't usually love being in photos, but Stephen made us so comfortable and gave us more than enough direction. We ended up having a great time during the shoot and the photos are absolutely stunning! I couldn't imagine a better experience. -

Stephen was very transparent and detail oriented about every step of the planning process, from the engagement shoot to the shot-list. The day of our engagement shoot was about 100 degrees and yet we got some absolutely incredible photos; he somehow made us forget how sweaty we were and focus on the moment.
Prior to our wedding, Stephen met with us twice to go over must-haves and get a better understanding of our families dynamics.
Day-of, Stephen kept us on a smooth timeline so that we were able to get all the photos we wanted (including a photo of me and my pet snake I didn’t realize I wanted until day-of) without feeling rushed. He and his wife were also incredibly kind and patient with my bridesmaids and family members, many of whom felt pretty uncomfortable posing at first. Our photos are absolutely amazing and I am head over heels with them. Stephen was flexible, professional, and I recommend him wholeheartedly! -

Stephen Mayo Review
I stumbled upon Stephen when I was searching to throw together a whole wedding in about two months time. I came across some of his photos and I fell in love with the way he captures such special moments. First, the pricing was a total steal for the amazing work he does. Second, he knew how much time we were lacking to coordinate things and he made it so incredibly seamless. At first, I was not sold on the engagement shoot, but I am beyond happy Stephen convinced us to go for it. My now husband and I are not photo friendly and find ourselves uncomfortable taking photos in general. Stephen made us feel like we were just hanging out and enjoying ourselves. We had chosen one or two spots to meet, and we were completely winging it. He guided us to different areas that he scoped out beforehand. Stephen took all of our thoughts and made it into something so spectacular. He made sure to incorporate everything we mentioned and more. I cannot emphasize enough how much fun we had doing our shoot. Shortly after our engagement shoot, he gave us the most amazing little photo album that I cherish so much, and he provided alll of the photos in literally a week (our wedding was like two or three weeks after our engagement shoot).
The wedding was out of this world. Stephen connected with me multiple times before hand and the day of to make sure things went the way I had envisioned. His artistic eye and ability to capture the most beautiful candid moments was EVERYTHING. He was so incredibly kind to my little niece and made her feel like a princess. He let her see all of the pictures as he was taking them and really made her feel special. This was so profound to me. Stephen and his assistant were so loved by our entire family and all of our friends. During the ceremony, I know he was capturing all of the special moments, but it felt like he blended in with everything and everyone. It did not feel like he was in the way of anything and I know many brides worry about that. We took group photos with the bridal party directly after the ceremony and we did so good in time with Stephen’s schedule and guidance. He made sure to take us to all of the spots I had noted as important areas. When we got to our venue, he even brought a drone and got this amazing video of the entire place. This was SO special and such a surprise because the place we had our celebration had sold their facility and this was their last hoorah and party! He even let my niece play with the drone. I got a sneak peak of our photos at the venue as he had them displayed on his laptop, and I cannot wait to receive them in full soon. I am so incredibly grateful to have been able to book Stephen for this unforgettable day. I will recommend Stephen to literally everyone until the end of time. I feel so blessed. 20/10 highly recommend. -

Rehearsal Dinner
Stephen has been one of the most incredible photographers I have ever hired. From the initial phone consultation, he was courteous, kind, patient, and respectful. My husband and I had the pleasure of having him photograph our rehearsal dinner, and he took the most splendid photos. He is absolutely talented, capturing the essence of the evening and everyone’s personalities beautifully. We were having so much fun with him taking photos on the beach that we did not even want to stop for the actual dinner! I highly recommend Stephen as he is punctual, professional, and an overall incredible human. We will definitely be using his photography skills in the future. -

Stephen did an absolutely wonderful job on our engagement photos in New York City! Pictures at sunset are often difficult to capture with the lighting and different angles; however, he did fabulous and got some beautiful shots. Personally, I never know how to pose for pictures--Stephen helped with posing and helped us have fun with it. He also has a creative eye and had us stand on a table with the NYC view in the back, which turned out to be the most epic picture! Aside from his skills, Stephen was very personable and friendly, and most importantly, very patient with all of our photo requests! He was kind enough to send us a handful of pictures within a day, so we can share our excitement on social media! We highly recommend him :) -

This was hands down our best experience we've had with a vendor! My husband and I cannot stop raving about how great Stephen was! Not only are his photos absolutely gorgeous, creative, and fun; but Stephen was so organized and helpful during the entire planning process and actual wedding!
There were so many times that Stephen went out of his way to make our night the best it could be. At one point he saw my grandma never got her dinner and he went and got someone to bring it to her, he told us when there were good photo opportunities but never kept us away from our guests. If we could've given all our tips to Stephen we would've. We honestly feel like we couldn't pay him enough.
Stephen acted as our wedding planner, maître D, and the best photographer ever! We are so lucky he was able to work with us!

We used Stephen as our wedding photographer for our November 2021 wedding on Long Island and it was the best choice we made for our wedding vendors! He was so thoughtful and creative with all of the pictures that were taken and he quickly understood our style. He made us and our families feel so relaxed on our wedding day and made sure to capture all the pictures we wanted and then some - we ultimately received hundreds of beautiful pictures in our gallery! We couldn’t be happier or luckier that we found Stephen Mayo to be our wedding photographer. From our engagement session in DUMBO where he showed us how to pose and braved the freezing temps with us, to our wedding day where I don’t think he sat for a minute, he’s been an absolute pleasure to work with! His photos are gorgeous and he captures you in the best moments! Many of our guests commented that he was amazing and loved how he took so many photos of not just us, but them, too! Working with Stephen Mayo as our engagement photographer was hands down one of the most incredible experiences we have had in NYC. Before we had the shoot, he had a call with us to get to know us/understand what we were looking for, which was an awesome touch,. He was really flexible with locations, times, etc., and gave us great suggestions to create a shoot where we got really incredible and unique pictures. He had so many ideas just walking down the streets of NYC about different lighting/backgrounds we should try! He was not concerned about the length of the shoot at all, he really just wanted to make sure we were happy and got quality pictures. Stephen really takes his time and listens to what you want, teaches you how to pose, and makes the whole experience really fun and enjoyable. Stephen is just overall an incredibly nice person with some extraordinary talent. On top of it all, the turnaround time for our final products was extremely fast! All of our friends and family were in awe of the pictures. We have since recommended Stephen to everyone we know looking for a photographer! -

Amazing Photographer to Work With!
We highly recommend Stephen as your photographer! He photographed our engagement shoot in the fall and our wedding just a year later. The heat was so brutal the day of our wedding but he toughed it out and delivered so many great shots. He is super detail oriented and spends time before the shoot to make sure everything you want is captured, while guiding you throughout his process. He truly cares about his work and is extremely attentive, responsive, generous, personable and fun to work with. He provides a very high quality of work while keeping you calm and relaxed during a stressful wedding day. My husband and I had such a great experience with Stephen. Stephen is such a wonderful photographer. He has been very informative and easy to reach the whole time we’ve been working with him. He makes you feel comfortable and keeps your mind at ease with the whole planning process. He was very open to our ideas and took them into consideration.
Our engagement photos and wedding photos came out beautiful! Stephen was so creative with his shots. He knows what he’s doing!

We are so glad we hired Stephen for our wedding. He was so easy to work with, very responsive and professional. He did a beautiful job photographing our backyard wedding. The backyard itself was very small and not great lighting, but we are thrilled with how our pictures came out - he was very creative and has an eye for light. We had a tight deadline and he got all the shots we wanted, plus more - from bridal details, our first look, ceremony and portraits. His artistic style was exactly what we were looking for. Stephen went above and beyond for us and was extremely flexible - especially as we were planning our wedding from out of state. We also loved the small touches that came with our contract.

Wow, Wow, Wow! We couldn't be happier.
When choosing a photographer for our intimate day (20 people), I felt I hit the jackpot with Steve. He mixed traditional wedding photography with his unique style and the results were perfect. He was able to capture the warmth of the day as well as the fun spirit of our "interesting" family. Steve himself made us feel comfortable even though my husband and I don't love posing for pictures. My friends and family who were not able to be there with us felt as if they were there, after seeing Steve's Photos. We couldn't be happier. -

Steve did an amazing job with our engagement shoot. We were able to pull together the whole thing within 2 weeks and Steve was able to adjust to our needs and timing accordingly. We agreed to complete the shoot in Brooklyn, overlooking Manhattan and Steve arrived early to scout out all the spots for us, making for seamless transition from location to location. He gave great direction for us and made it a very fun few hours as we shot, despite the wind and cold. Would definitely recommend working with Steve! The photos are stunning! -

Stephen Mayo Photography was absolutely wonderful to work with. We did our engagement shoot with him, and he was phenomenal. He was so helpful, did so much for us, talked to us before the shoot about the pictures we wanted, and really took amazing pictures that were spectacular. The photos were romantic and candid, and he was so quick in getting them to us. He was really great at giving us directions and posing help, and he scouted out locations early, so we'd have great backgrounds. It was so easy to plan and coordinate with him, and I honestly cannot recommend him enough. He was one of those people that made the entire wedding planning process a million times easier and even fun. I am so happy we had the privilege of working with him; he's definitely worth it!
Update: I know I reviewed before when he did our engagement shoot, but I couldn't help but review again after the amazing wedding photos that he took. Stephen Mayo was absolutely amazing to work with, and he was so flexible and accommodating during our wedding. Even when it rained, he had a great backup plan and really took great photos. He asked us what shots we wanted to make sure to get, and was amazing at moving post-ceremony photos along. Great guy to work with and phenomenal pictures! -
