    Authentically Creative and Fun

    My husband and I really enjoyed working with Stephan. Our enjoyment of Stephan's work began with our engagement photo session. He spent a couple hours with us and make the session an experience. We had so much fun. He has such an expertise in catching those candid love glances and candid laughter photos. You really feel the emotions in his photos. His photos tell a story. We felt so comfortable with him. My most memorable moment from my wedding was the first look. I think this moment was so memorable for us because of how comfortable we were with Stephan. We read our letters to each other during this time and Stephan so beautifully captured it all. Time froze still during that moment of our wedding. Stephan is such a great guy, and creative and fun photographer, specializing in capturing emotions and telling a story. We would definitely recommend him.

    Stephan was a lovely person to work with. He is especially talented at capturing soulfully aesthetic images. Professional, and captured the classic, basic wedding photos as well. Our family highly recommends his work.

    Stephan is a wonderful wedding photographer, and I can't recommend him highly enough! He really listened to what I wanted and offered helpful advice. Stephan truly cares about his clients--It rained on my wedding day, and Stephan went out of his way to pick up umbrellas for me and my bridesmaids. My wedding was bi-cultural (my husband's family is from Mexico), and what impressed me most about Stephan was how he was able to seamlessly integrate into the mix of cultures and take great photos of everyone. And of course, I love my wedding photos!

    When looking into the perfect photographer for our wedding, my wife and I came across Stephan's work online and absolutely had to have him.

    His work definitely speaks for itself, however he goes above and beyond to capture those truly beautifully intimate moments. Not only did he capture natural and organic candid moments he genuinely brings out the best as he shoots and even more so in the final product. You can get anyone to just take your picture and take your money but if you really want the best photographer there is no one better. In Stephan you get a world-class artist that does way more than take photos, his vision is amazing and it shines through in his work.

    We cannot brag enough about Stephan and highly recommend him to all who care about getting the best photos on their special day. Love love love what he did for us on our special day, we are forever grateful.

    There are no words to describe Stephan's work and his warm spirit.

    But I will try to explain below...

    I had a good feeling about him beginning with his first email responding to my inquiry for a photog for my west TX wedding on WeddingWire (a very prompt response I might add). It didn't seem like it was going to work out for him to actually shoot the wedding (my fault as we ended up with some last minute non-wedding expenses which busted our budget) but that didn't stop Stephan and I from continuing to exchange emails discussing photography and our love for west Texas.

    Man, was I thrilled that it ended up all working out...

    He is warm, charming, funny and very easy to get along with and he is especially unique in that he will really go the extra mile for you. He works (I say works.. but he makes it look and feel effortless) to put you at ease and capture the EXPERIENCE.. the vibe, the colors, the light, the overall feeling of the day.

    I am somewhat shy when it comes to having my picture taken but never felt shy about his presence on our wedding day and at many times, forgot he was there.. snapping pics the whole time. We could not be happier with our photos from our wedding day.

    Do yourself a favor and contact him. You won't be disappointed and will end up gaining a friend.

    The Force is strong with this one. What a pleasure to work with. He had very good instincts and was a genius with light. Having everything online was very handy.

    Few things are easy on a wedding day, but Stephen was a welcome and calming experience.

    I thought I would feel more self conscious about having my photos taken all day but Stephan made me feel natural and really comfortable. His photos were amazing and he captured each moment beautifully and with perfect timing. I am reliving a fairy tale every time I go back and look at our wedding photos! He produces truly exceptional and artistic photography. Five stars all around.

    Stephan's work speaks for itself enough already when you visit his website. However, let me take a moment to share with those of you who may be considering his work a story of our wedding.

    My wife and I were married in Lutsen at her family's cabin on Superior. March 8th there was still a LOT of snow on the ground but we wanted some shots done near the lake. As we were taking shots, Stephan noticed a vantage point where the shot would just be that much better.

    However, getting to that point proved challenging for my wife in her dress as the snow was so deep. Stephan wanted the shot so badly (the sign of an amazing photography) he threw his body down into the snow quickly making a path in the deep snow. He was literally crawling around on his knees and smashing it down for her and I to get to the spot he wanted us in.

    I don't have enough room to type how pleased I am with his work. I highly recommend him.

    Stephan is an amazing photographer- I can't say enough about his work! His pictures were exactly what I wanted (artistic with a twist). He gave great direction and had really good ideas of what would create a great picture. He was very flexible, professional and prompt in giving me the proofs.     We had a small, intimate wedding up the North Shore. In looking for a photographer, I was came across Stephan's work and was very impressed. I was very excited after contacting him and finding out he was available.

    I LOVE our pictures! They turned out absolutely amazing, just as I had imagined. They are realworks of art. They captured the moments, as well as the fantastic setting we had chosen.

    I would absolutely recommend Stephan. And if he still has his Artist's Loft, I would recommend that too!

    I would be remiss in choosing a single favorite photo. Stephan captured the most beautiful rays of light shining down upon us as we looked out on Lake Superior from the rocks of Artists' Point and then as we traipsed through the woods back to our guests at the reception.
    Our ceremony was short and informal, so most of our wedding shots were "candids." Our focus was never broken from the heartfelt joy of the occasion. After the vows, my husband and I got to spend a joy-filled hour climbing around on the rocks of Artists' Point while Stephan clicked away. It was just plain fun.
    Stephan made us a phenomenal deal by giving us one price for many hours of photography, hosting our reception at his gallery and amazing courtyard, four nights' lodging in the Artists' Loft, AND two hearty entrees for out 70+ guests. In retrospect, I cannot believe we got so much for our money. AND he was a total gem to work with.
    Was it just luck that our photographer dressed as Steve Zissou from our favorite director Wes Anderson's "Life Aquatic"? It helped that our wedding was on the evening of the Grand Marais Halloween party, but I couldn't have imagined a more fun companion for our photo session than a Bill Murray look-alike. Stephan is Mr. Casual. This may not translate well via e-mail communications with him, but do not fear; when it comes to delivering on his promises he is the utmost professional. I cannot recommend strongly enough. We not only love our photos, we gained a friend.

    For us Stephan was more than a photographer. He was more like a photojournalist who captured intricate details of our wedding day, from start to finish. It was the best, and fastest, day of our lives, and through Stephan's comprehensive documentation we have truly been able to relive the day. I, my husband, and our families are so so thrilled with all of the images of the day. It is really a gift to have such amazing and beautiful documentation of a day we never want to forget. Stephan provided a unique experience, far more comprehensive, personal and in tune with our style and wishes than I ever could have hoped for. I resoundingly recommend Stephan Hoglund Photography.

    Stephan did an excellent job photographing our wedding. He took creative, great quality pictures that we will cherish. He was also extremely friendly and easy going...all of our guests loved him! He even stayed later than expected. We had fun hanging out with him. To top it off he saved our wedding cake! We forgot to pick it up (of course) and he tracked down the cake even though the place had closed. (amazing!). We had our reception on a later date and procrastinated getting the images we wanted in our slide show to Stephan for final touches...and he came through again and spent extra time making a slide show and perfecting the already beautiful pics for us so we could show our family and friends at the reception.     We have nothing but good things to say about Stephan. We were looking for a photographer who would be able to take beautiful photo-journalistic style images and be able to handle some of the quirkier elements of our wedding... from having the ceremony on top of a rock in Lake Superior, to a slip and slide, and a first "joust" rather than a first dance. Looking at Stephan's website convinced us that he we had found our photographer.

    As we were from out of town, we didn't meet Stephan until the day of our wedding. From the very first moment Stephan was a joy to work with. For our posed pictures he had some creative ideas that suited our personalities perfectly. For the more photo-journalistic images he seemed to be everywhere but was never intrusive.

    Stephan was able to meet all of the challenges that we threw at him and captured amazing pictures of all of the key moments in our special day.

    I set off looking for a photographer who could capture the idea of what our relationship is to me inside a camera lense and put it out there for everyone to see; I found that with Stephan's work...my photos are turning out wonderful! We look like we're in love & we look natural & on top of that - we look like I feel...surreal. The images have an artistic touch that most of the photographers I looked at weren't offering. Best of all, I just got married this weekend on a Saturday, by Monday evening I was sharing about 60-70 photos that he got up on the website quick for us, which was awesome because my family & friends who couldn't make the drive for the wedding loved seeing them so quickly! Just check out his website & see his work - I knew from the moment I read his blog that he was the laid back guy I could let spend the day of my wedding very intimately with us as a couple. My husband described him as the "busy laid back guy" because at our wedding he was everywhere but never in the way & we never felt stressed when directed us into particular poses that caught his eye. Very easy to work with & hang out on your wedding day with. He went above and beyond getting us some beautiful shots in the grass as the sun went down, even though most photographers would have just snapped their remaining time away inside the venue. He was the only person constantly staying in contact throughout the planning process and about the only thing I wasn't worried about with the wedding was our photos. You won't be dissappointed!! :)

    We were so very happy with Stephan Hoglund Photography! My husband and I eloped, so our ceremony was somewhat last minute and he was fantastic with suggesting places for the ceremony and photogragh's to be taken. I was greatful how professional and easy he made the picture taking process for me, it made my day so much less stressful. I was so happy when I saw my wedding pictures, I was amazed at the shots he got. They were absolutely beautiful!

    Stephan did an awesome job at our daughter's wedding @ Lutsen Resort, MN. What a wonderful experience, he made everyone feel comfortable and we hardly knew he was there!!! He stayed longer and took pictures, than expected......I would recommend him anytime!

    Stephan was especially important to the success of my daughter's wedding this past summer at the Gunflint Lodge near Grand Marais, MN. We chose him to be the photographer because we liked the photos on his website & the price structure. We didn't know we were also getting a warm, caring person with a ton of knowledge about the Grand Marais area as well as a wedding planner! Stephan told us who to contact for the most delicious wedding cake I've ever tasted. He set us up with some super talented musicians. One of his friends came out to the lodge & did our hair & make-up. We looked fabulous - really! He even emailed & phoned me when he thought I wasn't responding quickly enough to make sure I got the people he recommended. If you are planning a wedding you owe it to yourself to check out his website. He really is that good. The groom bought his wedding ring from Stephan, we purchased jewelry from his shop for the wedding party & my husband surprised me on our 36th wedding anniversery with beautiful rings Stephan designed.

    Stephan captures the moment as it happens. Some posing, but mostly it is real-time, as-it-happens photos.

    He is a professional, he has great idea's for capturing the moment on his own and will also do any poses/angles you want. He was very flexible, timely, and often knew what we wanted before we did.

    We presented Stephan with a challenge: an outdoor wedding involving sled dogs in March in northern Minnesota. He did an incredible job of capturing the day, from the dogsledding shots to the ceremony, from posed shots in the woods to portraits that captured emotion. I highly recommend him!
