Dream Venue and the Best Staff

I literally had dreams about getting married here one day, and I got to do just that on August 13, 2022. This is the most stunning wedding venue in the entire city, nobody can convince me otherwise. It looks gorgeous in photos, but you literally can't imagine how breathtaking it is in person.

If the views aren't enough, their events team is next level (particularly Amber). Now bear with me through this part, because there's a reason we're still giving State Room 5 stars (spoiler alert, it's our amazing wedding goddess Amber).

We had a bit of a rocky start after we signed the contract (nothing to do with Amber). We signed the contract in May and then backed off for a bit since our wedding was over a year away. Around October, we were speaking with our florist, and he asked if we knew Carolyn (our former wedding specialist) had left. We didn't and nobody from the venue ever reached out to let us know. I immediately emailed both our contacts there and both people whose emails I had were disconnected and had no email forwarding set up or any message directing me to another contact. I called the venue 3 or 4 times before finally speaking with someone and they let me know both people had left and they'd let me know when we had someone new. I was now trying to plan a wedding (at a not-so-inexpensive venue) with no wedding coordinator.

Cue Amber! A literal angel who just made every wedding dream come true. This really should be a 4-star review, but Amber is so insanely amazing that she leaves me no choice but to make this 5 stars because anything less wouldn't be a fair testament to her. I am the most Type A a person can be and Amber answered every email, call, and panicked carrier pigeon I sent her way. She went above and beyond when we had issues with other vendors or needed last-minute changes that probably weren't even on her to help with.

100% would recommend booking the State Room for your wedding (even despite the challenges) because the staff really is in another league.

    Thank you for everything, Amber!!

    Well Worth the Cost

After the sticker shock of a $30k minimum spend wore off, I realized I was too in love with State Room to pass it up. The venue itself is just absolute perfection & our coordinator Amber was a dream come true. She went above & beyond to make our day amazing; when things weren’t done to her standards or what she thinks I would want, she worked quickly to fix them, never needing to let me know there was even an issue to begin with so I could just focus on the day. Our food was AMAZING, the bar staff was fantastic, & the space was to die for. We will never be able to thank Amber or State Room/Longwood Venues for helping to make our day so memorable!

    Breathtaking venue!

We knew the State Room had to be our wedding venue the moment we walked in. It has breathtaking views, it is modernly designed, and truly a beautiful space. Additionally, once we started contracting with them, they made it all so easy! They even helped us source special Prosecco for our event. They were also extremely accommodating when we decided to postpone from February 2021 to 2022. We had Amber assisting us leading up to the event and throughout our wedding day. She was responsive, helpful, and truly an expert in her field. We were in great hands with Amber on our special day and everything went off without a hitch! We are so grateful to the State Room and their staff for making our wedding day perfect.

    Dream Wedding

The State Room exceeded ALL of our wedding dreams! They were an absolute pleasure to work with especially throughout the pandemic and having to postpone our wedding. We are so happy we decided to have our wedding here – from the communication from our coordinator, to the level of service at the wedding, to the delicious appetizers and food (that guests of ours still rave about!), to the absolutely breathtaking views – we couldn't have had a better experience! We would recommend the State Room over and over again to other couples. Still dreaming and reminiscing about that absolutely beautiful day!

Unmatched views of Boston - notes from a wedding photographer

I LOVE the Boston State Room as a Boston wedding venue.

I'm writing this review from a different angle. I didn't get married here, but I'm been here over 50 times for weddings. I'm a Boston wedding photographer, and I have the insider view on what weddings are like. The team here is top notch. They are professional, kind, and courteous. You won't go wrong with a wedding here. :)

The coolest thing about it are of course, those panoramic views from up high while still being able to be in downtown city life! It’s remarkable what they offer here- so much detail and care has been put into this space that you can really see how much thought went into creating such an incredible place for your big day or special event. I

    Best Day Ever !

As soon as we left our venue tour, we knew no where else would compare. The view alone was enough to win us over but little bit we know we would have the most incredible staff to go along with it. Carolyn was absolutely fantastic from the start of planning through the day. She was always quick to answer all our questions even with the ever changing covid protocols. I can not say enough good things and thank yous. Our bridal attendant the day of was truly a life saver! She made sure my husband and I were taken care of and were always looking our best. She was first to remind him to button his vest for pictures or personally help fix my bustle when it fell. The food was just as incredible as the view. The food, view and staff make for an unforgettable night! I couldn't imagine our day anywhere else.

Our guests are still talking about the view!

As soon we decided we wanted to get married in the city of Boston, I knew that the State Room was the only venue I wanted. The team made it easy from start to finish planning our day. The view from the Great Room is reason enough to book this venue. You don't even need serious decor or florals to add to the space because your guests will be too busy looking out the windows to notice anything else. The food was incredible and the space was so comfortable for our 180 guests. Brittany Collins was our coordinator and she made the night run seamlessly. You will not regret booking this venue!

    Downtown Small Wedding

Wow, we had an amazing wedding at The State Room. We toured two of Longwood’s venues and selected The State Room- Harborside Salons for our 85 person wedding on July 27, 2019. We selected this venue for the drop- dead views, professionalism, and fantastic food and beverage choices. Brittany and the team were truly the best throughout the entire process. She kept us updated on any changes, they were even going through a lobby renovation at the time. She made us feel comfortable and informed. The tasting confirmed we chose the right place and as we got closer to the date, Brittany made all the last minute details easy. She communicated with all our vendors and executed drop-off and pick-ups.

On the wedding day, we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Our attendant made sure we had everything we could possibly need and Brittany kept the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception on time and it all flowed flawlessly. We can’t even count the amount of compliments we received on the venue, views, food, and service. Thank you to the State Room team for an unforgettable experience.

    State room wedding

I’ll just start off with saying WHAT A VIEW! The State Room was the first venue we looked at as we started the wedding planning process and the rest of the venues we looked at just couldn’t compare. While we ended up having our wedding in the Great Room the other event spaces at the State Room were just as beautiful and had views to knock your socks off. Once we decided on the State Room, Carolyn walked us through the entire process and made every decision for us super easy. She was very attentive to our needs and helped us have the wedding of our dreams.

The food was incredible. It was near impossible to narrow down the hors d’oeuvres down to 6 from their large list as each one we tried was better than the last. The entrees were to die for as well and cooked to perfection. We also really liked the options that were available for the wedding cake that were outside the regular plain flavors as we ended up choosing the raspberry lemonade.

Carolyn and the rest of the State Room staff helped our special day go off without a hitch. Carolyn was always available whenever we needed to make a change to the plans and created a great, stress free environment during the planning process. We appreciate everything the State Room staff did for us and made our wedding a day we will truly never forget. Again, WHAT A VIEW!!!

We had a tremendous experience at the State Room for our wedding in August, 2018. Once we visited we knew immediately that this was where we wanted to get married, and the experience, from planning to the night of, completely validated that decision. Kristen was our event planner, and did a wonderful job of responding to our (many) questions and requests, and from the tasting to the night of was there for us. The food was delicious, the cake was delicious, the recommended vendors were excellent, and we can't imagine having gotten married anywhere else.

Our wedding at the State Room was absolute perfection. Planning our wedding was so easy and fun; Brittany Marsh was our event specialist and she was amazing. She helped our wedding vision come to life with all her organizing and logistics coordinating, and guided us patiently through all the decisions we needed to make. Brittany and the staff worked so well with all our vendors and we felt so relaxed and confident knowing that the State Room was coordinating everyone- we did not worry about it at all! The State Room and Longwood Venues is incredibly well run, evidenced by their billing and event planning documents, communication of all staff, and day-of coordination.
We and our guests were so impressed with everything during the evening- the friendliness and helpfulness of staff, the delicious food and drink, the beauty of the view and the high quality and well arranged furniture and rental products. I want to emphasize how delicious the food was, at our tasting we were impressed and excited but it was incredible how all 200 meals and the appetizers for 200 people were also all delicious and perfectly cooked on the day of. They also made it possible to accommodate the dietary needs of all of our guests.
We are so happy to have chosen the State Room for our big day and highly recommend it or any Longwood Event Venue.

We LOVED our wedding at the State Room! We do not have enough wonderful things to say about this venue. The professionalism of each staff member, the food, the drinks - everything was amazing! Our wedding coordinator, Kristen, made us feel at ease and her timely responses were appreciated. She and her team successfully executed our vision and everything was perfect! The views of Boston were incredible and definitely impressed all of our guests. After just a few weeks, our guests continue to talk about the incredible time they had at our wedding! We couldn't be more happy of how everything turned out - we planned our wedding in 6 months and we do not have one regret! Thank you to the State Room for all of their assistance in making our special day one we will never forget. We highly recommend the State Room for any couple looking to have their wedding in Boston!

We knew from the moment we saw it that we wanted to have our reception at The State Room. It is beautiful venue on the 33rd floor with a gorgeous view of Boston (Faneuil Hall, North End, Hancock Tower). We had a relatively large wedding and this was the perfect space (I believe we had the largest ballroom).

Carolyn was our coordinator and was accommodating and helpful from the first moment. We both have busy work schedules and she was able to schedule our tasting at a time that worked for us. She was responsive to e-mails with every one of our questions and requests.

The wedding day itself was perfect. The set-up was beautiful (we added some uplighting from our DJ and that was it) and the food was incredible. In terms of their coordination with other vendors--everything was seamless and we didn't really have to think about it.

Carolyn and her staff were great to work with and the space was perfect. All of our guests had an amazing time. I can't recommend them highly enough!

We selected the State Room for our wedding roughly 2 years in advance and could't be happier with the decision. We knew right away this was where we wanted to get married and the staff were so great in making sure it was everything we had imagined. We hosted the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception all in the great room. We were so happy with how smoothly everything flowed and how professional and quick the staff were at transforming the space. We had the pleasure of working with Lauren as our event coordinator, and she was so great. Thank you for making sure our wedding spectacular.

We initially booked The State Room for the view and location - you can't beat it. Especially when you're not hosting a wedding outside. We had some early concerns related to the responsiveness of the team and our oodles of questions but that's to be expected when planning a wedding - especially early on. When it came down to scheduling the tasting and the day of logistics, Erica (our coordinator) was a pleasure to work with and super helpful. We were especially appreciative of the little things she did such as getting me a special pasta dish that wasn't on the menu and figuring out a way to serve table side champagne without adding a huge cost.

Every professional at The State Room is on top of their game. We had the pleasure of working with Lauren Pastore. Lauren was always accessible, answered every one of our many emails within the hour, and gave us thoughtful input along the way. She worked with us to make our dream wedding come true and coordinated with all of our vendors so we did not have to worry about the last minute logistics during the final stretch of planning. It is true that you get what you pay for. Thank you to Lauren and everyone at Longwood Events for making our wedding so spectacular and the most ultimate dance party! - Laura & Brian

From the moment we walked into The State Room we knew it was the perfect location. We were treated so special by Amanda who showed us the space. When I visited other venues I was surprised at how the sales people were all business but Amanda took the time to share in our happiness and made us feel like getting married was the celebration that it was. After we decided to book The State Room we worked with Carolyn. She made everything so easy and always responded quickly. The venue itself is breathtaking and speaks for itself but the service and food quality are the icing on the cake. We received so may compliments on the location and the food from our guests! I would highly recommend Carolyn and The State Room to any bride!

We loved our wedding at the State Room!! The Great Room is an amazing space, and the staff is wonderful. We did our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at one place, which our guests truly appreciated. Several of our guests commented on the professional and timely service. Our coordinator Carolyn was truly outstanding. We didn't always make it easy for her (we did an Indian ceremony with a more American style reception), but she made it seem like helping us create our wedding day was fun for her too! We also had a bridal attendant the day of- Jackie. She was so helpful and made sure we were well taken care of. My mom was so impressed and grateful that she was there! Another big plus for us was the Indian fusion menu- while it's not authentic Indian food, it at least gave us an option to have a choice for our guests and the Indian appetizers were really tasty! The food, the cake, the setup and flow of the day- everything was as perfect as can be. We couldn't be happier with our wedding day and the experience leading up to it.

The great room, while pricey, is literally worth every penny. The view alone makes this place five stars. But add the kindness of its employees, the ease of planning, and the perfection of the food and State Room is out of this world. If you want the wow factor, this is the place for you. When our guests arrived and saw the room their gasps, oohs, and aahs were audible. We worked with Carolyn as out coordinator and she was amazing. She was so accommodating, patient, understanding, and attentive. If you want a gorgeous, modern, urban wedding to go off without a hitch, choose State Room. You will not regret it!

Amazing! Such a gorgeous space overlooking Faneuil Hall and the Boston Harbor. Our December wedding went off without a hitch, and with the most amazing view possible. The planners and staff of Longwood are really fantastic, you won't want for anything the night of your wedding.
One thing to note is that the Longwood venues do not come inexpensively but are absolutely worth every penny!

Erica and everyone at the State Room made our day a dream come true. We never wondered what was coming next or if we needed to be doing something, and we were well taken care of as the bride and groom. From answering all of my many emails and phone calls, to meeting with us at the venue on multiple occasions, everyone went above and beyond to make sure our day was exactly as we pictured it. I only wish I could plan another event with them, it was just so magical!!

My husband and I were lucky enough to have our wedding at the State Room this June and it was better than in my dreams. After all of the planning, I am so relieved that it was as spectacular as I hoped and that was due in no small part to the State Room's attentive staff. I am a very meticulous planner, but even if I wasn't I am confident Courtney would have kept us on track, ensuring that timelines were established, vendors were organized, and all the important decisions were made. I never had to guess about anything with Courtney, nor with our day of attendant, Jose, who was extremely sweet and made sure that my husband and I enjoyed the night and ate food! The guests were blown away by the venue, the breathtaking views of Boston, the delicious food, and the overall elegance of the night. It was seamless and we couldn't be happier.

We had our wedding in October at the State room in Boston. Everyone who works at Longwood Events, State room is amazing.- The views, the food, the people working there- all A++! From the first time we went to take a look at the venue, to our food tasting, to the day of our wedding- everything was perfect and everyone was so helpful, professional, and lovely to work with. Our wedding coordinator at the State room was Courtney H. We loved working with her- she was always responsive, gave great feedback and guidance- she ran a flawless show! The food was out of this world- all of our guests raved about the food. We had an indian fusion wedding and the chef made an indian chickpea dish that was to die for! My husband and I were trilled at our experience with Longwood events. We both highly recommend them for any event. Thank you!!

The Great Room at State Room is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in Boston and we were so lucky there was still a date available for our wedding. Beyond being a beautiful venue, I have to rave about the wonderful staff starting with the sales manager (Amanda) to our event specialist (Courtney). These folks were absolutely amazing to work with- they are professional, courteous, patient, and work with you to help make your event special and your style. My husband and I are so happy with how everything turned out, the food, the staff, the details, the precise coordination. This venue and staff are highly recommended for anyone considering a city wedding.

I cannot say enough about how amazing our wedding was at the State Room. The food, drinks, service and view was outstanding. Everything was executed flawlessly and went off without a hitch thanks to Carrie, our event planner.

Carrie was extremely organized through the whole process and stayed on top of everything so I would not have to worry about a thing the day of and I didnt. On the day of the wedding, we were immediately greeted by our wedding attendant, Jackie, who was beyond nice and extremely attentive. She ensured we had a plate of food from cocktail hour waiting for us in the back room since she knew we didnt have a chance to sample anything and continued to check with us throughout the night to make sure we were all set. Carrie and Jackie were fantastic and ensured our night went as smooth as it could be!

Everything at the State Room was perfect. It was a dream wedding and I cant imagine getting married anywhere else- it was an amazing day and we would not have changed a thing!

Fabulous venue for a wedding or any big event. Everyone was amazed at the view all around. Our daughter's wedding was in the Great Room and it is a 2 level event space. We had cocktails on the upper level and dinner and dancing on the main floor. The floor to ceiling windows go all around the room. The hors d'oeuvres were all fabulous. We did a "taste of Boston" which included mini lobster rolls and large shrimp and clam chowder and crab cakes. The service was impeccable and it was all seamless. Our wedding coordinator,Carrie Scott, was so well organized and calm that she made it all very simple for us. They took care of everything. The view cannot be beat in Boston and the food and service were up to the view. Everyone thought it was the best wedding ever !

The State Room was fabulous to work with! Sarah P. was my consultant and she made everything so easy. Not only is the Great Room and view amazing, the staff is so professional and their attention to detail makes everything so enjoyable. I never had any doubt along the way about anything. Before I could even think of it Sarah addressed everything and made sure I could sit back and enjoy the evening. The food was amazing. So good. I was that bride that actually cleaned her plate! Their packages are flexible and accommodating. There were no unexpected surprises at any point. I wish I could go back again as a guest :)

My husband and I are very pleased to have had our wedding ceremony held at the beautiful Great Room at the State Room. The breath-taking views overlooking Boston really made the afternoon ceremony very magical. It was like a really game of “Where’s Waldo” for our guests spotting the very Boston landmarks such as Faneuil Hall, New England Aquarium, and Custom House Tower (aka Big Clock) along the Boston Harbor.

The two levels of the Great Room allowed our guests to really soak in the Boston skyline at different vantage points. As our ceremony was held on the main level, the guests were able to enjoy passed hors d'oeuvres and beverages on the mezzanine level. The hors d'oeuvres selection was excellent. Our guests were very happy to see baby lamb chops, pancetta wrapped sea scallops, blackened rare tuna, tequila lime grilled shrimp, and spinach-filled arancini come around post ceremony.

Our State Room Coordinator Carrie Scott was such an integral part of our day. Ever since our first meeting, she made sure every detail of the day was accounted for. She worked closely with our wedding coordinator to make sure the ceremony went as smooth as possible. We are very thankful for all of her help in coordinating such a beautiful day!

My planner there was very easy to work with. Just an FYI... they don't let people take off their shoes so throughout the night someone was walking around making sure that everyone had their shoes on. I thought that this was strange,. The food was amazing, and you can't beat the view in the Great Room.

I loved working with everyone involved in my weeding planning. Lauren Pastore, was such a key piece to an amazing night at our reception. She's very knowledgeable and was very prompt at getting back at me. I had so many changes and at times I'm sure probably annoying in terms of making final decisions as well as meeting deadlines, however she was a true friend guiding me every step of the way!! I had the most outstanding experience with truly everyone involved in making my dream reception come to life.

There is only one 5-star, premiere wedding venue in Boston as far as I am concerned, and it is the State Room. From the incredible view unlike any other, to the quality of the food and impeccable service, this is the place for an unforgettable wedding. Our wedding specialist was fantastic from the first meeting all the way through to the last wave out the door at midnight on the wedding day. She was helpful, extremely knowledgeable, a great listener, and a true professional. We wanted a Boston, black tie, society wedding with all the bells and whistles, and our dream was realized. Everything exceeded all expectations. The day-of food and service managers, bartenders, and all wait staff were amazing! Everyone always says something goes wrong at a wedding, but nothing did! The timeline was met and all execution was flawless. We are "foodies" and are demanding on taste and presentation of all cuisine. Every guest has been commenting even now after the event about the incredible food and artistic display. I totally understand the State Room may not be in everyone's budget, but if you can do it, I have to say, you and your guests will have an incredible, unforgettable memory for the rest of your lives. We cannot thank everyone at Longwood Venues enough for making our special day all the more memorable and magical.

    Beautiful venue

You get what you pay for! A beautiful view and excellent service. No complaints here. Many guests have told me how amazing dinner was and how that’s unusual as most dinners are cold and bland, the States room chef is fantadtic. Brittany is an awesome coordinator. Get the views without the weather stress!

The State Room was the exact venue we imagined. We visited 10+ venues in the greater Boston area knowing that we wanted an indoor venue with beautiful views of either the water or the city-scape. We did our due diligence but once we saw the State Room, we knew it was the one. As others have stated, the views are unmatched. Their professionalism through the sales process, gave us 100% confidence we were in good hands up to and through our wedding day. Another deciding factor was that the cost fell into our perfect median in comparison to venues of the same measure. The reason for this positive review is because of the follow-through to achieve our dream wedding. No detail was left uncovered.

Food was very important to us, and the menu and the quality of the food is again unmatched in comparison to other venues and is on par with great restaurants around Boston. We loved it at the tasting, but what is most impressive was their ability to execute for a reception of 175 guests, with the same excellent presentation and taste.

Our coordinator, Amanda was not only a get-shit-done kind of gal which I appreciated, but was also organized, responsive to my emails (which there were a lot) and I always felt that we were on the same page in terms of style and delivery. The wedding day was the culmination of our hard work.

The food was great, the views were breathtaking, and the event design was just as my Pinterest page had pictured. Amanda was solution-oriented for all my desires without breaking the bank. For example, their in-house tables chairs and linens worked well in the space, where I was able to reallocate budget to some of the other decor items. She guided me towards where best to spend the money. I know my guests were blown away.

We had a phenomenal experience working with the State Room for our wedding this spring! Our coordinator, Kristen, was so accommodating and really took the time to make sure every detail we prioritized came to life during our event. We served the Indian Fusion menu, and we were originally skeptical about the kitchen's ability to execute Indian food for a primarily Indian event. When we went in for the tasting, we were blown away (our parents were, too!), and we got tons of rave reviews about the food at the wedding. The bridal attendant (whose services are included as part of your booking) was actually amazing to have. She made sure we (the couple) got a chance to taste all of the food, directed us to where we needed to be, and helped corral our belongings at the end of the night. We were planning on outdoor photos before the reception, but the weather really didn't cooperate, so they let us come in early during setup and take our wedding party portraits in the venue!
Also, we brought in a ton of personal items (napkins, tablecloths, decorative pillows, etc) to help personalize the space at a slightly cheaper cost, and the venue was amazing at letting us drop them off and positioning them where they needed to be. I'm a pretty organized and detail-oriented person, so I wasn't sure that I needed all the planning services that the State Room provides, but I'm so glad we chose to work with this team and host our wedding reception here. They really helped provide an evening we'll never forget!

We had our fall wedding at the State Room and couldn’t have been happier. We lucked out and had gorgeous weather on our wedding day, and our guests are still talking about the breathtaking sunset views during our cocktail hour. The entire team at the State Room was extremely friendly, responsive, and accommodating. We had great experiences during the tasting and walk through and our wedding planner thought of every detail and coordinated effectively with all of our outside vendors. Our attendant the night of our wedding was also extremely accommodating and checked in with my husband and me continually to see if we needed anything. The State Room is a stunning venue for a Boston wedding!

We had our January 20th wedding at the State Room and my fiance and I, as well as our guests, cannot stop talking about this night- seriously!! It was like something out of a movie!! We looked all over the city of Boston for a wedding venue and not a single place compared to the State Room, we knew we had to get married there. It is such a unique venue and the view is SPECTACULAR. If you have not seen the State Room in person, go!!! The pictures do not do it justice. Additionally, the service cannot be beaten. We worked with Sarah Petermann who was a dream of a wedding coordinator; she was on top of everything, super organized, and gave us great advice regarding our wedding. I seriously did not worry about a thing because I knew we were in great hands. The night of the wedding was the most incredible night of my life; the room looked amazing, the food was outstanding, and they had all the wedding professionals communicating via walkie-talkies (yes, I am serious) so that the night ran smoothly. They knew at all times where everyone was and needed to be, which made me happy since I didn't have to worry about accidentally running into my groom before the wedding or finding family members for pictures. Oh, and the bridal suite is huge! The only drawback to this place is the cost, it is very pricey. But you get what you pay for. We paid for the whole wedding ourselves (and I am a teacher), and I STILL think it was worth it. We had so many guests come up to us and say it was the most beautiful wedding they had ever been to, they couldn't believe how good the food was, and much more. Worth.Every.Cent.

The State Room is by far the most beautiful venue we have been to and seen! We loved it and it was such a special backdrop to get married in. We did the ceremony and reception in the great room and the cocktail hour in the Cityview and Harborview rooms. We had a HUGE wedding (300+ guests) and they were totally accommodating and made it work so that everyone was comfortable and happy.

We worked with Carolyn, who was really nice, very helpful and honest with us when giving us advice, which was greatly appreciated. She and Jackie made sure we didn't need anything the night of, and everything ran very smoothly. The whole staff was very helpful and professional and our experience was great starting with the booking process with Eleni and going through until our event.

The food was amazing and we heard great things from our guests. The only comment I have about food was that we were only able to try 2 entrees during our tasting. We knew we wanted two choices for guests, but when we didn't love one of the two we tried, we had to pick an alternative without ever having tasted it. It ended up being delicious, but it was a risk.

Otherwise, everything was great and we would highly recommend the venue!!

If you are getting married in Boston, The State Room is one of the best venues in town. We looked at about 15 venues in Boston and immediately fell in love with The State Room. The views speak for themselves and the quality of staff is impressive. Courtney Haskell was our wedding coordinator and she was phenomenal from start to finish. We got married in the smaller room, Harborside, which we would highly recommend if you have a guest count of 150 or less. It has a more intimate feeling and you save a little money - granted you miss out on the spectacular view of the clock tower, but the views from Harborside are just as nice. We were not sure how the food would turn out since some people told us that you are predominately paying for the views, but all of our guests raved about the entrees. The day of the wedding was seamless because the State Room staff is such a well oiled machine! 5+ stars all-around!

My husband and I absolutely LOVED the State Room - Harborside Salon when we first visited the place and new it was the perfect place to hold our reception. The venue is absolutely breathtaking - view of the Boston Harbor and Faneuil Hall from the 33rd floor and a classy interior with hard-wood floors and neutral tones. The State Room is one of the most expensive venues in the area but we were able to negotiate slightly to meet out budget, but in the end, you are paying for nearly all-inclusive, seamless service and it is worth the investment. Catering, tables, (nice) chairs and linens, table numbers, desserts &/or cake are all organized by the on-site coordinator. The on-site event specialist that we worked with Erica Phillips who was wonderful and very responsive to of our inquiries, very quick to respond to our emails, and communicated with our other vendors. So many compliments from our guests about the beauty of the place and the professionalism of the staff at our reception!! Only mistake that was made was that three of the table numbers were mixed up unfortunately. Perfect space for 100 guests (11 tables). I should also mention that Jackie was our compimentary bridal attendant and she was fantastic, brining us appetizers to our bridal suite, making sure my fiance and my champagne glasses were always full and reminding us to eat. She even help to pack up our toasting flutes, cake knife/server and other things that we brought. It was really perfect place to hold our wedding reception.

    The wedding of our dreams

We had the most amazing wedding. It went better than we could have imagined and still feels like it was all a dream. The State Room / Longwood are in the business of weddings and it shows, everything ran so smoothly. Our day of venue coordinator Carolyn Longden was super friendly, answered all my questions during the tasting/planning meeting and made sure everything was perfect on the day. Sure it's one of the more expensive venues in the city...but come on, that view ! We're still receiving lots of compliments on the food which is great! The cocktail apps were substantive and the menu is quite good. There is only one bar set up though, so the lines during cocktail hour were a bit long (even with 2 bartenders) which I was concerned about in advance, but I suppose it is not atypical for any wedding. They take care of so much, that it feels like you're hardly planing anything. It's almost too easy. I think this made me a bit unsettled during the process, I didn't know if we should be talking more, when do we need to meet to plan, etc. However I felt so much better after the tasting / our planning meeting (about 5 months before the event). Carolyn was super detailed, answered all my questions made great recommendations, brought in linens and chair samples, helped coordinate uplighting, pictures for the entry hall, and more. You unfortunately do have to be sure to remove everything the night of (we hired a day of coordinator to ease that burden), and you won't have certainty on the rehearsal timing til about a month before so you do just have to plan the dinner and hope it works out....it did work out for us :).

    Beautiful venue, breathtaking views

The venue is modern, and the views are breathtaking. We got married in the Harborside room in July 2018, and everything went very smoothly. Additionally, many of our guests loved the room/views, and the food was delicious (the dinner meals were huge, and everyone raved about the mac and cheese balls). Kristen, our coordinator, was very responsive, helpful, and professional the whole time we were planning our wedding. The one thing I will say that was frustrating during the planning process is that the State Room upcharges for literally everything. We knew that going in, so we were mindful during our planning process, but it could still be frustrating when you're in the thick of wedding planning and juggling so many moving parts. However, like I said, Kristen was great and she knew we had a budget in mind, and she helped us get creative to make sure we stayed as much within it as possible. She was very professional when our parents had extra requests as well. Parking can also get a bit tricky if you plan to drive for meetings/have guests planning to drive to the wedding (but also, duh, it's downtown Boston). Overall, the venue was one of the things we received the most compliments on from guests, and working with Kristen was fabulous, so I would highly recommend the State Room to those looking for an urban, sophisticated, modern wedding venue. (Tip: We originally assumed we wouldn't be able to afford this venue, but the sales coordinator negotiated with us to get the price down to an amount we were comfortable with.)

From the first day we visited the State Room to the wedding day, we experienced top-notch service. We worked with Eleni initially. She helped us find the right room and menu options within our budget. Once we settled on the Great Room, we were introduced to our coordinator, Carolyn. She made the entire wedding planning process manageable and enjoyable. If I did not have Carolyn, I would have had to hire a planner. She ensured that every detail was in order, walked me through each step of the planning process and gave me honest feedback when I asked for her opinion. She was a major key to helping us have the most amazing wedding day.

My top priority in choosing a venue was food. The State Room offers the kind of quality and variety we wanted. Our friends and family continue to tell us how amazing the food was six months after the wedding! In addition to the food, we were concerned with finding a location that could accommodate both the ceremony and reception. Because it was a winter wedding, we wanted to limit travel. The Great Room was a perfect fit because we had the ceremony downstairs, and then held the cocktail hour upstairs while the reception seating was set up below.

I could go on and on about the view, the space, the staff and more. If it is in your budget, I do not think there is a better venue in Boston.

The Stateroom is as glamerous and city slick as you can get in Boston. Set high atop the city with views of, well, everything, this is the venue of all venues. We wowed our guests and had a fantastic night dancing in front of the soaring windows.

our wedding reception was absolutely amazing & even better than i ever had expected. everyone who entered the state was in awe of the views of boston. that truly set the tone for a magical night. the quality of service the night of the wedding was over the top. prior to wedding, our previous wedding coordinator at the state room decided to move on. we weren't informed of this change for some time & that is the only reason why i scored the responsiveness so low. as soon as the mistake came to their attention we received a wonderful replacement who truly made our day special. i would highly suggest this venue to anyone who wants a romantic, memorable wedding in boston.

    I was at the HARBORSIDE

    The GOOD:
    1. I had Sarah Petermann. i remember when I was reading reviews for this vendor, many had said that their coordinator was changed in the middle. Unfortunately the same had happened to me. Up until my tastings, I worked with Erica P. I have to say she was less than impressive. It took many weeks to organize the tasting date and time, and her excuses about the chef being on a vacation (for WEEKS) started to frustrate me. I wanted to complain, but most brides keep to themselves lest they upset the coordinator. Fortuitously, I was assigned a new coordinator - Sarah Petermann. If any brides have the option of requesting I'd suggest working with her.
    2. With sarah, The response rate improved significantly. She Answered all my questions within 24 hrs and was flexible with my requests. When there was a miscommunication between Erica, Me, and Sarah, she took the initiative and cleared things up, so the transition was actually not bad at all -- it made things better for me, actually.
    3. Food was GREAT - everyone commented on how nice the food was.
    4. View was fantastic... that's what you're paying for!

    BAD:
    1. Overall, this is a pricy venue.
    2. Sometimes, the flow of the things were not great -- for example the slide show started without the announcement of the band, and the screen was WAY in the corner so some of the guests couldn't see the slideshow I worked so hard on. The promised lava lamp light -- I don't' remember seeing at the reception although it was in the schematic diagram.
    3. YOu have to clean up EVERYTHING that night after the wedding.

But these are little things, and overall the reception flowed nicely, and I would recommend this venue to another bride.

The StateRoom was an exquisite location for my wedding. With views of the city that can't be matched and excellent food, it had everything we were looking for. The planner that we worked with was great and the staff working the event were amazing. Only drawback was the price - it is very expensive.

My wedding day at the State Room was incredible, amazing, beautiful. The venue and views are so breathtaking and I received many compliments from guests saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Even some our friends from New York said they had never seen a urban space or view like the State Room - it is simply unmatched. We had a lot of family and guests from abroad come in to Boston and really wanted them to have an elegant experience at our wedding, so the State Room was perfect. I was also really impressed with the quality and presentation of the food (which I first experienced at the tasting) - especially the cocktail hour hors d'oeuvre, and I can't say more good things about the State Room staff (we worked with event specialist Erica and wedding attendant Jackie) and all the little things they did, from asking how we were doing to getting us food and water while we were in between activities, and helping get us and our wedding party to our places/prepped for the flow of events. The venue is a high price point but what you get is definitely worth it.

The State Room was absolutely stunning and gave my wedding the elegant chic style I wanted. Overall, I was satisfied with the outcome. My guests were impressed by the wonderful view and tasty food. Their service on the wedding day was impeccable. I had a bridal attendant that helped me with anything I needed. The dinner service was efficient and organized. The wedding day could not have ran more smoothly, and I can only thank the State Room for that.

Besides the fact that the State Room is expensive, my main gripes with the venue are for their pre-wedding planning services. My event manager was very inconsistent in responding to my questions and requests, and she was not very on top of all the elements for the wedding.

For example, I had emailed her my ceremony music selection months before the wedding under the impression that she would forward them to the string quartet that we had booked through the State Room. Exactly one week before the wedding, I got a phone call from one of the musicians asking what my choices were. They had never received my music selections from the State Room and were trying to make sure they knew the pieces I wanted. Luckily, I had chosen classic pieces that the quartet already knew.

Another example was with our menu planning. My husband and I repeatedly told the event manager over and over again that our per person budget for food was $X, and we were extremely surprised and angry that the menu proposal came back at a price of $X+$20 per person! For our 100 person wedding, that would have been $2000 over! It was like the event manager never listened to us in the first place.

In the end, everything really turned out as perfectly as they could, but the event manager definitely caused me a lot of pain and nervousness through the planning process. I was constantly wondering whether she would be able to pull it off. Knowing now that my guests enjoyed the wedding so much, I will admit that it was probably worth the pain, just by a hair.

Gorgeous space - it was the most beautiful room in the area, and we looked at a lot! There was some confusion with the menu and different coordinators, but things worked out great in the end (the chef was wonderful and prepared a great vegan/vegetarian menu for us). I highly recommend it!

We used State Room for our rehearsal dinner. The dinner itself was very well done. The food was well prepared and of high quality. The staff that attended to us that night we were very responsive and professional. The highlight was definitely the view of Boston harbor which was fabulous from the particular room we had booked. We couldn't have asked for a better rehearsal dinner.

In the months leading up to the dinner, however, we had to deal with the sales staff, who were not nearly as professional as the on-site staff. The sales staff were not very quick about answering our inquiries, and they were a bit unflexible about policies such as having only a single meal choice for guests. However, once we got past these negotiations, the event went perfectly. Note that in 2004, the State Room had recently undergone a management change which may have accounted for this dichotomy. Hopefully the sales staff is better nowadays.

The venue space at the State Room is amazing. The views are incredible, the space is huge and leaves a great impression. We barely did any decorations besides flowers because it really didn't need anything extra! Our guests loved taking pictures with the Boston skyline in the background.

However, the planning and value of the place was not great. We booked our wedding date a year in advance and through out the process, ended up with three different planners because our assigned people kept leaving the company. It was frustrating because we had to keep having the first meeting and go over the same stuff. And then when you are actually trying to plan out the evening, they will charge you for everything they possibly can. They charge you ($100 in our case) per person for the tastings and then they do not let you try all of the things you are considering. We were doing six passed hor d'oeurves - but we were only allowed to try five of them. We were also torn between three of the entrees, but could only taste 2. For $100 a person, I would expect to at least be able to try everything. Besides that, you can expect to pay a premium for anything beyond the basics. Table side wine service - extra. A special cocktail - extra. Be prepared!

Lastly, the wine list was not very good. We wanted table-side wine service, so we had to buy the bottles of wine to be served at the table. We tasted probably five reds and five whites off their list - none of them were very good. Most of the bottles were $8 bottles of wine at the store, but they were charging $45-$50 per bottle. I understand venues mark up the wine, but the selection itself was just pretty terrible. I had my bridesmaids vote on the bottles in the rose, white, and red categories after tasting - and they asked "can we pick none?"

To summarize.. I would recommend the State Room just for the fact that the space was great. But just be prepared for a frustrating and expensive planning process!

Let me start by saying our wedding was wonderful. The State Room is the only extremely contemporary, chic location in Boston to host a wedding for over 100 people. There are plenty of guilded hotels to go around, but no other venues like this. It's on the 33rd floor of 60 State St. which is located in the heart of Boston, in the midst of Faneuil Hall with views that are absolutely breathtaking. Since we had lots of out of town guests the location was another great perk.

The problem with the State Room is that its service is not up to par with its stylish good looks. The State Room is an expensive venue and for what you pay your experience should be nearly flawless. Ours was not. Most of the troubles occurred throughout the planning process, with only minor problems on the day of the wedding.

CONTRACT - The initial problems occurred with drawing up the contract. Communication was atrocious. We would go over the contract, discuss all the necessary changes, receive a "so-called" updated contract only to find that they had not in fact made all of the changes agreed upon. We tried emailing changes so that there was documentation to refer to. It took at least 5 rounds before they got it right.

COORDINATOR - Following the "contract fiasco" I insisted that the individual we worked with on the contract NOT be the person I would work with to coordinate my wedding. The individual we would work with was then changed a number of times before I was introduced to an entirely new person who over the course of our planning repeatedly reminded me that my wedding was not the only one she was planning. (I'm aware of that, but when we're spending a lot of $$$ you're supposed to make me feel like it is!) While she always had a smile on her face she was somewhat difficult to work with and never did more than she had to. Communication was extremely difficult. There were a number of occasions when I had to call or email multiple times before getting a response, even as my wedding was nearing. I would also add that when it came to the schedule for the wedding day she really did NOT seem to know what she was doing. Our band was very surprised by the schedule she proposed and ultimately we deferred to them. The State Room's lack of understanding of our schedule would come back to haunt us later.

WEDDING DAY, CEREMONY - On the big day things went pretty smoothly. Our coordinator was present as promised. I would say, however, that she was NOT an expert on running ceremonies. The aisle in the Harborside room where we got married is very short and the ceremony processional was very rushed. Aside from that the ceremony went well.

WEDDING DAY, RECEPTION - At the beginning of the day we were introduced to two people who would manage the evening's event. They were excellent. They always made sure that we had what we needed and that everything was going according to plan. Suddenly, however, we realized that our coordinator had gone for the night without warning. I was shocked. I was never told that she would not be there for the entire event. Because of this, it seems, the schedule which I had carefully constructed with our band to be followed by the State Room also vanished. The band was stopped by the event manager in the middle of an upbeat dance set for us to cut our cake, etc, then a little later the band took their break and I noticed people were starting to leave. I was not happy. That said, I don't think our guests noticed and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves.

FOOD - Aside from one highly unattractive hors d'oeuvres station the presentation was great (very organic, with wooden trays, mixed grains, flowers, etc.) We served a lot of hors d'oeuvres, they were great. For the main course we served a petit filet which was excellent and they did a fantastic job with our wedding cake which we designed. Our guests raved about the food.

NO THANK YOU!!! - After spending a whole lot of cash at this place, after our wedding day we NEVER heard from them again. Not even, "thank you for your business." At a venue that considers itself to be the best in its class I think they have no class. I also know that we are not the only ones to have an experience like this.

BOTTOM LINE - I still can't think of anywhere else in Boston that even holds a candle to this place's style and sophistication, but they've got some work to do. They need more staff and to learn the definition of both service and professionalism.

The State Room is an empty canvas with a view. Use this space to create any wedding you dream of. We held our ceremony on a Sunday in the great room... and it was converted to a reception space during the cocktail hour held in the mezzanine above. Their staff is professional, attentive & supportive. The private loft allowed a quiet space for the bridal party to prepare. They worked with our wedding planner (this is not the same role as filled by the SR provided wedding coordinator!) to meet the needs of the bride and groom- and to create their nearly ideal dream wedding!
Mixed reviews on all catering & the timing of meal course servings was a real issue... delay between salad and main course forced over 45 minutes of live music to be cut from reception.
Extreme disappointment in wedding cake! The design promised was ignored (and while taste was wonderful)- it cannot excuse appearance. Photos were exchanged- additional cost and design creation committed. It ruined what is one of the most photographed reception moments... stay one step ahead of catering at the State Room.

Longwood Events was the florist for our wedding & reception. Susan (florist) & her husband own the company. I planned my wedding from out of state but came into town every month for 9 months to plan & coordinate. I specifically told Susan no yellow flowers were to be used in any arrangements. My colors were fall orange, purple & wine. Wouldn't you know...yellow flowers were used in our church and reception arrangements. I noticed this error just hours before the ceremony began but it was to late. I purchased in advance several supplies to include LED lights for the vases but they were not used as requested. Susan suggested to save money that we use the bridesmaid bouquets in six of the centerpieces. I agreed, although I was skeptical that the bouquets would not make it in the vases in time for the reception to start. When the bridesmaids attempted to put the bouquets in the vases they were to heavy & didn't fit. Only candles remained in half our centerpieces. This is seen in ALL our wedding photos too. Susan later admitted she did not assess the bouquets in advance to see if they would fit. Why?? Two boutiners were also missing from our order. Susan was immediately contacted & they were brought to the church. My bridal & bridesmaids bouquets were absolutely beautiful but minutes before I was to walk down the aisle I picked up the bridal bouquet handle to find sliver spray paint all over my hands. I was so upset. I had to clean my hands & find something/anything to wrap the bouquet handle with immediately. Talk about stressful! I was not able to hold the bouquet close to my body afraid of what might get on my dress. This is obvious in ALL of my wedding photos too. After our honeymoon we called Susan & requested a refund. Susan at first refused to return our calls & emails. After a battle a refund was given but that will never undo what is seen in my wedding photos. BEWARE! Longwood Events is not dependable & we would not recommend them for your event. Upsetting!
