Tessa is the most amazing storyteller!!

Tessa's work speaks for itself; that's why we chose her as our wedding photographer without a second thought. But I think what most couples planning a wedding don't realize, including ourselves, is that the right photographer is so much more than the photos they take. Tessa was with us all day long on our wedding, and she was such a positive, encouraging presence that we were so lucky to have. On top of that, she handled our super long list of family portraits, went and picked up flowers for our detail shots, and so so much more. Her second shooter was a joy to have around and brought much laughter to the day as well. The wedding day went by in such a blur, but the gallery she delivered to us makes me feel like I'm right back on that day, remembering so many small details and big emotions that we missed or had already forgotten about. If you're lucky enough that Tessa has your wedding date open, book her!! We are so beyond grateful that we did. Thank you Tessa!

I highly recommend everyone book Tessa Berg for their wedding photographer!! Her photos turned out absolutely STUNNING and I get so many compliments on them!

On top of taking amazing photos, Tessa is such a special person. From the first time you meet her at your complimentary engagement photo session, she makes you feel at ease. She spends time getting to know you and your wedding visions. She is great at working with your other vendors to ensure logistics are correct. She is great with young kids who may not have as much patience sitting through photos. She even miraculously fixed my makeup for me when a few tears were shed during the first look.

There are a lot of decisions to make when planning a wedding, but booking Tessa should be a no brainer! Not only does she take the most gorgeous photos, but she is attentive, personable, knowledgeable, positive, and so fun to work with!

We highly recommend working with Tessa at Starling Studio!! Not only is she such a kind and sweet person, but she is amazing behind the camera! Wedding Photographer of our Dreams!

Tessa was THE BEST photographer I could have asked for. From our engagement shoot, to communication, to capturing the wedding photos of our dream, she did phenomenal. Tessa has the sweetest, most genuine soul, and she carries the positivity with her throughout the entire day. Leading up to our wedding, she was flexible and responsive to all communication, and she was prepared with questions to ensure she captured our vision. On our wedding day, Tessa went above and beyond. Not only did she capture incredible shots, but she fully respected my boundaries and comfort levels. When I was done with pictures, she never pushed and let me be. She always gave her recommendations, but she only captured whatever I was comfortable with and never made us feel like we had to keep taking more pictures. After the wedding, we got our photos back so quickly, and I had handfuls of people share that our wedding photos were the best they had ever seen. The photos truly look like they are straight from a wedding magazine. I couldn’t recommend Tessa enough. She is hands down the most talented, kind hearted, professional, and loving person/photographer!

Look no further, you have found your engagement photographer! Tessa’s work is amazing and we could not be happier with our winter snow engagement session!! She was very flexible and accommodating (especially when waiting on the weather to snow!) and gave great direction during the photo shoot. Our photos captured our personalities and love, and she did an amazing job at making sure we had fun and were comfortable throughout the shoot. She got our photos to us quickly and touched up a few requests we had. She is WONDERFUL and I am so glad I trusted my gut to go with her!! 5+ stars! :)

VIP wedding vendor

Splurge on hiring Tessa for your wedding, it is worth every penny. Throughout the entire wedding planning process Tessa was an incredible resource by providing recommendations and answering any questions we had. Communication was always prompt, and she helped us come up with a professionally detailed day of timeline.

The photos.... Genuinely left us speechless. I had to look through all 1,000+ photos 3x to even begin selecting my favorites. Her careful eye and attention to detail are everything. Cannot recommend Tessa highly enough, she captured our wedding day perfectly and I will cherish these photos forever.

It's also important to mention that Tessa is a wedding pro. For every small bump in the road, Tessa had a plan B and took action immediately!

Great photos and a joy to work with!

Tessa at Starling Studio was such an MVP at our wedding! We were extremely fortunate to work with a talented wedding planner who sent us a handful of great options for photography vendors, and after very carefully researching and considering our options, we decided that Tessa was the best pick for us. Now, with the added benefit of hindsight, we can say that she was definitely the right choice. Tessa was on time and over-prepared, and her high-energy joyful attitude set a perfect tone. She took beautiful photos for both our engagement photos and wedding day — very vibrant, classic, professional photos — and sent us the final portfolio very promptly. We selected Starling Studio for our wedding photographer after reviewing her incredible work and outstanding reviews. Starling Studio has been nominated and won “Best of Columbus Weddings” in 2021 and 2022. Her inquiry process was very user friendly and she was quick to respond and provide any initial details. Tessa is very personable and is genuine to make lasting relationships with all her clients. She was always willing to help us navigate the planning process, offering vendor lists and answering emails to all of our questions. She made the entire process easier to navigate. When planning our engagement and wedding photos, she provided suggested locations based on our likes and style. She even provided outfit recommendations. The BEST of the best

Tessa was absolutely unbelievable for out engagement photos + wedding. We loved getting to know Tessa at our engagements shoot. Her warm, inviting energy made us feel so comfortable. My husband is definitely a bit camera shy but Tessa made him feel at ease.

Tessa is so knowledgeable in all things locations, lighting, posing that every photo looked natural and effortless. She also has was so aware of how we were feeling throughout the day. We felt how deeply she cared about us and our entire wedding party.

Tessa has a beautiful talent of artistically capturing small, intimate details that made our wedding day so special. She found a way of memorializing a hand squeeze, a laugh with our guests, our dresses moving in the wind so well that the joy and love we felt that day is forever preserved.

Tessa is the best!!! From the moment we met her at our engagement shoot, my husband and I knew we made the best decision choosing her for our wedding. Tessa made us feel so comfortable and confident in front of the camera and she instantly felt like a friend we'd known for years. Our engagement photos turned out to be so beautiful that we couldn't wait to see how our wedding photos would look. The BEST of the best

Tessa was AMAZING to work with. She is extremely professional and was with us every step of the way. She frequently reached out to see if there was anything we needed help with throughout the planning process. She built a start to finish timeline for our wedding day and made sure everything was on time and ran smoothly. She also felt like a friend that spent our wedding day with us. She seriously made everything so comfortable and fun for us. We had so many friends and family make comments to us after our wedding about how amazing Tessa was. Aside from her being amazing in general, we just got our photos back and they are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Every single one of our photos looks so natural and it is impossible to pick a favorite.

Outstanding Experience

I cannot say enough about how wonderful Tessa and Starling Studio are. To begin with, Tessa is such a wonderful, delightful person with such a positive energy. She was truly a pleasure to work with. She really takes the time to get to know you, what you envision for your photos, and even includes engagement photos as part of her package so that you can get familiar with her and comfortable in front of the camera. Tessa was able to put me and my now husband at ease in front of the camera which resulted in photos that I never would have thought were possible for me, someone who is generally a bit awkward in front of the camera. She went above and beyond to make sure that everything was perfect on my wedding day, even grabbing food for me from cocktail hour, and captured every moment so beautifully. She has such a unique talent for creating and capturing movement and working with light to create the most stunning, authentic, and enchanting images. I could not be happier with my photos and experience and highly recommend her and Starling Studio.

9/18/2020 Intimate ceremony

My husband and I LOVED working with Tessa. She jumped on the phone with me before our small ceremony and was a huge help making my vision come true. Tessa was on time, professional and super fun to work with. She did an excellent job at capturing the emotional moments, took advantage of the beautiful venue (Franklin Park Conservatory), and was great at directing Collin and me for wonderful portraits that still felt natural. When the pictures came out I was surprised at how stunning they were! It was exactly what we wanted for our special day. Above our expectations!

Best decision!

Tessa was one of the best decisions I made when planning our wedding. I was blown away by the quality of her work. She is the best photographer. She was an true asset on our wedding day. The pictures turned out incredible and she was the easiest to work with throughout the process. I feel very lucky that she was available on our wedding date. Her professionalism and attention to detail are incomparable. She was quick to turn the pictures around. She helped me with the planning process and scheduling as well. Tessa is the best! I'm not someone who really enjoys getting their picture taken but she makes the experience so fun! She's charismatic and she takes charge. Tessa is amazing

Having Tessa as our wedding photographer was the best decision ever! Our photos turned out so beautiful I cannot stop looking at them. Tessa is very knowledgable, professional, and so bright and positive! She makes the entire photoshoot so comfortable and fun. My husband and his groomsmen are not big photo people, but they all told me how much they loved Tessa and her second shooter for the day, Paige! Engagement Session

Tessa Berg of Starling Studio is absolutely amazing and extremely talented!! Our engagement photoshoot was nothing short of a blast. My fiancé is not very photogenic what so ever and he said that the photoshoot was some of the most fun he has had in a while especially taking pictures. Which is saying a lot coming from a man. ;)
Tessa was willing to step outside her comfort zone and try some different areas and types of photos to make our engagement session one to remember. Tessa is super fun, energetic and always wants to find that perfect shot to capture every special moment my fiancé and I shared. I would absolutely recommend Tessa to anyone and everyone. As if we weren’t already excited about our wedding day, this made us ten times more excited. Tessa is extremely reliable and reasonable- always responding to us and our a million questions in a reasonable time frame. Tessa was one of the very best decisions my husband and I made for our wedding day. From the moment we had our first conversation with her, through the entire process she was extremely professional, prompt, talented, kind, comfortable to be around and with out a doubt, talented! When you hire a photographer for your wedding day, you want them to handle all the details and kind of steer the show. Tessa did this easily and took a huge burden off my shoulders. There is no one we'd rather have had capture our wedding day than Tessa and Starling Studios. She was an absolute joy to work with, made the process painless and fun, and captured everything we could have hoped for and more about our day.

We started working with Tessa for our engagement photos and highly recommend this to couples because it helped us get more comfortable in front of the camera (and likely helped her get to know our challenges too.) Throughout our 15 month engagement, Tessa was responsive and professional in all of the planning-related questions we shot her way. Our actual wedding day went extremely smooth - in great part to Tessa and her planning and coordination of details. Our photos were delivered to us on-time, and are beyond what we could have hoped for.

In choosing Starling Studios, we not only had a wonderful photographer to capture our wedding, but Tessa easily could have been wedding coordinator, therapist, and friend. She's a fantastic person with wonderful talent and we couldn't recommend anyone more.

Tessa with Starling Studio was fabulous to work with! We had Starling Studio do our wedding and engagement photos and loved the entire process. If you’re reading this, it probably means you’re looking for a wedding photographer. I am here to tell you your search is over. You have found her.

Choosing Tessa as our wedding photographer was hands-down the best decision my husband and I made, aside from getting married in the first place. And it’s not just because she took great photos. Tessa does take great photos. They’re stunning. She’s especially talented, with a sharp eye for detail, and as predictive as she is reactive. Her photojournalistic style captures the special moments you might otherwise forget. I look back at our photos and am at once transported again to the best day of my life.

Tessa is so much more than a photographer. She’s a problem solver. It rained on our wedding day, which would have been a disaster had she not come prepared with charming clear umbrellas and boundless creativity. The shots of my husband and I in the rain are some of my favorites. At one point, the sky opened up unexpectedly and my entire bridal party sprinted toward the bus. Not Tessa. She stayed out in the rain and captured the entire chaotic scene.

She’s also a bridal-party wrangler who strikes a perfect balance of easy-going and assertive. She managed to keep our group of 20+ people organized and on schedule while ensuring we were all still having a good time.

Perhaps most importantly, she’s a fun, outgoing addition to your day. She’ll fit right in. If it weren’t for the camera, you’d forget she’s a photographer and not one of your friends hanging out for the afternoon.

Here’s the bottom line: Hire her. You will love the experience and your photos. You’ll thank me for it later, and then you’ll thank Tessa.

I cannot recommend Tessa and Starling Studio enough! She was fun to work with, took our preferences and expectations to heart and then exceeded them by a long shot! Not only did Tessa put us and our needs first, but she was clearly the best wedding photographer my wife and I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I personally know about ten other photographers who are all friends of mine but Tessa is just miles ahead of them all in every possible way. She is the kind of photographer that will literally get down on her stomach in the dirt and muck to get the perfect shot. We did a bunch of our photos in an old dilapidated building with peeling wall paper and old furniture. Not only did the photos come out extremely unique and gorgeous but I specifically recall Tessa getting in the grime and doing literally whatever it took for her to capture the best possible shot each and every time which really surprised and impressed me. She was extremely efficient too which made our experience even more memorable because we weren't stuck doing photos for hours. I don't know the extent of her preparation but I wouldn't be surprised if she went to that old building (which also held our reception venue on the first floor) and memorized the floor plan of every floor! She literally seemed like she knew exactly what she was going to do in each shot before we even started. A big concern for us was efficiency and time, especially because so many photographers seem to take that aspect of the job for granted. Tessa had a piece of paper where she listed each family member in order in every shot she wanted to take. What resulted was maybe 10 to 15 minutes of family photos which gave my wife and I WAY more time for our own pictures yet without compromising the outcome, as the family photos came out perfectly too. If you are looking for the best wedding photography that money can buy you need to go with Starling Studio!

I cannot say enough great things about Tessa and Starling Studios. From the moment we met her, my husband and I felt like she was a friend, so much so that we talked her ear off and kept her way too long for our meetings! We changed our wedding date three times and our biggest concern was whether or not we could still have Tessa as our photographer. She was extremely accommodating and was amazing under pressure when we only had 22 minutes to shoot before the sun went down and I didn't want to have a first look. Tessa even acted as a wedding coordinator at times keeping us on task and calming me down when things got stressful. Her professionalism is outstanding, her pictures are beautiful and she is just a fantastic person all around. We had so many wonderful people that we worked with during our wedding but Tessa was by far the best. If you're looking for amazing pictures (we used her for both engagement and wedding) look no further-Tessa is the best!

Tessa was great to work with! She did our wedding photos as well as our engagement photos. We did not want to feel like we spent our whole day having pictures taken (as we have both felt this way in other friends weddings) and she made everything go really smoothly and quickly, even the long list of 'must-have' photos with family. She kept everything organized and I never felt like she or her co-worker were taking away from our day -- which was huge for us! If you don't choose this company for your big day, I will literally be so upset!! I knew Tessa and her crew were going to cover my wedding before I even got engaged. You see, we went to college together and I've had the pleasure of watching her talent grow for years. Tessa is a fantastic wedding photographer, and we could not have been happier. Her rates are among the best that I found in Columbus, and she is worth every penny. She is extremely easy to work with and focuses on making you and your wedding party comfortable and at-ease on your wedding day. Her photos are beautiful and natural - you will not be disappointed!

We planned our wedding out of state, so when we interviewed vendors we were pretty picky. In all I interviewed 18 photographers in the Columbus area. Without a doubt Tessa from Starling Studio was unlike any other and when we spoke over the phone we instantly clicked. Not only did we love her photos online, we loved her! We chatted about the proposal, my dress, the details, etc. so that she could get to know us, especially since we had a friend do our engagement photos in Chicago. When we met in person months before the wedding, Tessa was even more delightful and we knew we got the absolute best photographer the Columbus area had to offer. She was so professional yet cheerful and positive. She was attentive and answered all of my crazy bride emails during the process as well. We were all impressed with her discreetness during the ceremony and reception, as well as the way she sweetly organized my giant family for a photo on the church altar in just a couple of minutes. Most of all, Tessa told the story of our wedding day absolutely beautifully through her photos. We feel incredibly blessed to have had Tessa as our photographer and recommend to everyone!

Tessa at Starling Studio was wonderful to work with! She takes the time to get to know her bride and groom so that she can get the perfect wedding photos for them. In our pre-conference, she asked a lot of great questions that my (now) husband and I had not thought of that ensured that we got all of the photos that we wanted at our wedding.

Our wedding photos are amazing and everything that we had hoped that they would be! Tessa's photos aren't just your standard wedding photos, she looks for ways to use the space/resources she has to make the photos unique to every bride and groom. We would both highly recommend Tessa and Starling Studio for your photography needs!

Tessa (the owner and photographer at Starling Studio) did an amazing job from start to finish! She was so easy to work with and is very creative. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about Tessa! When we began planning our wedding we talked about what was most important to us, and for me it was the photography. I knew I wanted a photographer that would capture more than just standard posed photos, and Tessa more than delivered. Tessa took both our engagement and wedding photos and we absolutely could not be happier with the final results. Her photojournalistic style is beautiful and organic and the color and use of light in her photos are just perfect - she has a great eye for composition.

Not only is Tessa a fantastic photographer, but she is a easygoing, genuine person who is a delight to work with. My husband is notorious for "ruining" photos but she was able to elicit natural smiles out of him and capture his personality. She also achieved the impossible and got amazing, smiling pictures of all of our groomsmen AND my sassy grandmother. It was a wedding day miracle! We contracted a second photographer through Tessa, who was fantastic to work as well. It was great to see photos taken from both Tessa and Ryan's viewpoints.

If you're looking for unique, beautiful photos, look no further than Tessa and Starling Studio. I recommend her 100% and I can honestly say hiring her was the best decision I made in the wedding planning process.

When my "husband" (still getting use to that title!) asked what were the best choices we have made for the wedding, we both agreed that hiring Tessa as our photographer was one of them. Tessa did our engagement, my boudoir, and both our ceremony and reception and I couldn't have asked for a better person to experience my journey with. From the beginning, Tessa has been very determined, attentive to details, and responsive. We never once felt like we were "just another engagement session" or "just another wedding". She made our experience unique and special - and she topped it off with her sincere and awesomely sweet personality. She is definitely our first choice for all future photos!

Tessa is absolutely amazing! I give her the highest rating possible for any sort of photography you are looking for. As a very particular bride, I can assure you I poured over vendors sites for weeks looking for the perfect photographer to capture our big day. I kept coming back to Tessa's photos based on the natural and romantic look. She has the best use of natural light and avoids over-editing leaving your memories as you remember them. I appreciate her photojournalistic approach and am truly amazed by her work. She is friendly and easy-going and got along with our entire wedding party. Tessa at Starling Studio was a joy to work with and captured our wedding day better than we ever could have hoped! I knew after seeing my sisters engagement and wedding photos taken by Tessa that it was a no brainer my husband and I wanted to have her as the photographer for our wedding day. Tessa is hands down, the best photographer I have ever worked with. She creates a stress-free environment to work in and keeps the focus on you. She captures every moment of your day, and all the moments you might have missed. She did a fabulous job with both our engagement and wedding photos. I'm able to look back through our photographs and truly relive the day again. The photographs turn out beautiful! It's unbelievable how perfect they turn out and she does a wonderful job of capturing everything in one single picture. Tessa is amazing and it would be foolish to work with anyone else. I know the pool of Columbus photographers is big, but I feel pretty certain saying you won't find a sweeter photographer with more drop-dead-gorgeous photos. Tessa is a photojournalist by trade and quickly becoming a much-demanded wedding and lifestyle photographer. She did our wedding and engagement photos, and we loved them & working with her. She can contract a second photographer if you want, but we just used her and I couldn't believe how much she captured with everything going on. Mind-boggling, scenic shots; sweet details; great emotions and so many wonderful portraits of us, our families and our guests. Such great composition and lighting, too - all on the fly. I suppose that's the benefit of having someone who's used to shooting for publications! Loved everything about Starling Studio.

I really can't say enough about how fabulous Tess is; having Tessa as part of our wedding day was one of the best decisions we made! She was so easy to work with and made sure everything ran smoothly the day of. She's extremely personable and fun to be around but at the same time she's very professional and knows exactly what she's doing.

She was able to capture every moment of our wedding, even the smallest details, in order to fully show how special our day way. She also takes lots of photos which is great as you get lots of variations. The photos themselves are unbelievable - they are so natural (which was very important to me) and she didn't use any frilly filters; she made both the engagement session and wedding photos look effortless, bright and beautiful.

I would highly recommend Starling Studio and would love to work with Tessa again in the future.

Tessa at Starling Studio was absolutely amazing! We couldn't have had such a fabulous wedding day without her. She had everything organized from the family photos after the ceremony to the wedding party photos before the reception. Tessa and Courtney made the time fun and enjoyable which made us forget we were outside in the December weather! Our photos turned out more amazing then we could have imagined. For me, choosing the right photographer was a big deal since I was going to be looking at these pictures for the rest of my life. I wanted a photographer that was talented, comfortable to be around, and someone who wouldn't put us in awkward cheesy poses:)

I couldn't be happier that we chose Tessa. She was so much fun to work with and I love love love my photos. I absolutely love her style and her attention to detail. She captured my wedding exactly how I want to remember it.

Having Tessa as part of our wedding day was one of the best decisions we made! She was so great to work with. She's kind, accommodating, easy going and one of the most talented photographers I've ever known (in my career field, I've worked with many).

She was able to capture every moment of our wedding to tell a beautiful story, and we couldn't be more thankful to her.

Even our initial meeting, engagement photo sessions and pre-wedding planning meetups were something to look forward to because Tessa isn't just creative and collaborative with every idea she has, but she is also good company!

Tessa worked tirelessly the day she photographed our wedding, and she went far beyond capturing the typical wedding photos. I had a difficult time writing this review, mostly because I tried to limit how many times I said "amazing," "incredible" or "beautiful." I cannot say enough wonderful things about Tessa and her work.

Tessa offers a beautiful, consistent photojournalism style. My husband and I wanted our wedding photos to truly capture the day: nothing too heavily edited that didn't feel like "us." Her style delivered just that.

In addition to being a very talented photographer, Tessa is a joy to work with. She did an excellent job listening to our wants, addressing our concerns and delivering an incredible output. We loved working with her! Many members of our bridal party mentioned how much they enjoyed working with her, too.

I'd highly recommend Tessa to anyone looking for a highly professional, creative wedding photographer.

Engagement Shoot

My fiancé and I booked Tessa for our engagement shoot, and we were quite pleased with the results! Tessa was intent on sticking to our vision, and she did very well in giving clear cues and direction. I do wish that we had communicated a bit more ahead of our photoshoot just to touch base on what we were going for and to communicate information on payment and turnaround time. Tessa is skilled at her craft and is one of the best engagement photographers in Columbus. We're elated with our photos and are glad we have these pictures to cherish for a lifetime!

Absolutely Incredible! Not overselling it either...

Absolutely incredible experience with Tessa and her team. She did such a phenomenal job at our wedding on 10/09/2021. My husband is a tough one when it comes to photos and money, but she made it all worth it and some! He finished the day commenting how much he enjoyed and appreciated her which is a huge compliment. In addition, Tessa was able to rally the troops (my family who was all enjoying themselves) and get some really great photos! She was assertive and took initiative to make the most of each moment. multiple people at the wedding commented on how lovely it was, and how incredible the photographer was for not wasting a second, but also not overstepping any boundaries. Thank you Tessa! I really hope to see you again someday soon!

Tessa is a great photographer and was a pleasure to work with. She did our engagement and wedding photos. She actually made the photo sessions enjoyable, which is great because I generally hate taking posed pictures. I'm a bit of a goofball while taking photos but she was able to roll with it (I think she actually rather enjoyed my silliness). She was quite flexible on locations and had a good photographer's intuition when working with the scenery. She and her assistant were constantly taking photos during the ceremony and reception but they were never in the way (half the time I didn't even know they were there). The final proofs took a little bit longer than expected to receive but it was forgivable considering we were in prime wedding season. The wait was worthwhile, though. The pictures were awesome! So many great shots. We love showing them off! My favorite is one of me doing a jumping air guitar....it's getting framed! Oh, and of course, my other favs are all other pictures with my beautiful wife in them :)
Overall, Starling Studio is a great photography service and I would highly recommend it. I'm quite certain we will be using them again in the future.

Amazing engagement shoot

Tessa did an incredible job for our engagement shoot. It was our first photoshoot and she made us feel so comfortable! We had a lot of fun during the experience. The weather was dark and gloomy but our photos turned so bright and beautiful! Highly recommend!
