Katherine Steinborn, known as Weddings By Katilady was outstanding on all levels in preparing a wedding weekend for our daughter and 65 guests. Guests traveled from all over the US to be a part of 4 separate events to share with family and friends to experience the island of St John and enjoy this special life memory. We live in the Northeast, Boston area. Our daughter had lived on St John, this is where she met her husband. They requested a small wedding barefoot on the beach, however that small wedding also had a specific vision which included a high level of expectations and quality. Kati pulled it all together; from identifying Villas for accommodations, a fabulous caterer, outstanding florist, world class videographer, transportation, decorations and the list goes on..... Kati supported and guided us with a calm and comforting level of professionalism. This was my first hosting of a wedding and I could not have done it with out Kati by my side. It is imperative to have local knowledge on your side to coordinate all the moving parts that are required to host your event. Once you arrive on island your goal should be to enjoy the experience you have created and let Kati take the reigns. I was honored to have worked with Katilady.

Kati was phenomenal. In planning a destination wedding, we were worried about certain things that we could not see and review such as flowers and cake. Kati only had our ideas and some pictures to go off of. When we arrived, everything was perfect. We were ready for a couple items not to be what we imagined, but there were none. We are so pleased with all of Kati's hard work and dedication to our wedding. We were just one wedding on her long list of weddings for this year, but she treated it as her own and gave us more than we could imagine.

Kati was the consummate professional in planning my son's wedding on St. John. Every detail was attended to and she stayed late into the evening at the reception to ensure that everything flowed smoothly from beginning to end. She provides top notch services for a very fair price. All of her vendors were first rate as well. She obviously has a lot of experience in planning weddings on St. John and can provide those special little tips that make a difference. She is also a dynamite caterer. She provided dishes for our rehearsal dinner, as well as the beautiful wedding cake.

From a mans perspective, the only thing that matters is that the bride is calm and happy. Kati did a great job of making this happen. She took care of all of the small details that made everything go off without a hitch. If you are planning on getting married on St John, I would highly recommend using Katilady to take care of all the planning and details.

Words could never emphasize how wonderful Kati and her organization was. Our weddining was absolutely fabulous. Not only were my guests beyond satisfied but they were amazed at how much Kati helped me throughout the week. We had a great experience with Katilady...very attentive, responsive, and professional. She helped organize our rehearsal dinner as well as having a hand in our wedding planning. She worked well with my overbearing attention to details and never made me feel like my thoughts were unreasonable. She is very knowledgeable of the area and venues with a lot of contacts for various vendors, such as bakeries, florists, etc. I would definitely recommend her for any bride looking to get married in St. John.

I was in St. Thomas on business and called Kati to let her know that I wanted to surprise my fiancee' and marry her when our cruise ship was scheduled to stop off at St. John in less than two weeks.

She agreed to meet me (with no advance notice), so I hopped the ferry to St. John and in less than 2 hours we had found the perfect venue (Annaberg Ruins) plus an officiant, chuppa, flowers, cake, musician (steel drums), taxi driver and photographer.

Kati & I corresponded via e-mail while I was vacationing with my fiancee' on the cruise ship. She was attentive to every detail and understood exactly what I was hoping to accomplish by surprising my love.

When we crested the hill at Annaberg, the scene was like something out of "the Bachelor"--the setting, the flowers, the music--everything was perfect. As I walked her to the chuppa, my fiancee still did not realize what was happening (I had told her we were going to a vow renewal ceremony for some other passengers we had met on the ship).

Under the chuppa, I told her, "this is all for you, baby. We are getting married right here, right now!" She broke down in tears, melted in my arms and we had the most memorable experience two people could ever hope for when getting married. Honestly, it could not have been any better.

Would I recommend Weddings by Katilady? Ah...YES!!!

Kati did wedding cupcakes for me and they were absolutely amazing!!!! Beautiful & yummy! I only had her make my cupcakes, but if I had hired a wedding planner or catering company I would definitely recommend her. Katilady was very patient with me for my wedding on St. John. She was helpful and extremely professional throughout my many phone calls and questions. She handled all the details from arranging the events and get togethers leading up to the wedding down to special ordering the lavender flowers I insisted on having. My wedding party was treated like her own family and was very comfortable working with her. The cake she made was amazing, we are still talking about it-just perfect. The catering service was also top knotch and the food was delicious. If any of my friends or family are getting married, I will surely send them to Katilady knowing she will take care of them 100%!

Katilady events and catering made our wedding everything that I dreamed of and even more. Every idea that I thought of, I would just call or email and within an hour I would hear back with suggestions. When we got to St. John I had no idea how they were going to pull the wedding off in the space and I could not believe the transformation of the space and villa! Kati and her staff were very professional and supportive during our wedding process. Kati and her staff provided us with excellent advice and suggestions while working with our ideas to make our wedding day (and week) more beautiful and wonderful than we could have even dreamed. Also very flexible and helpful with making sure every detail was well covered and attended to, even details and changes that came up on short notice. Kati and her staff also handled setting up and contacting vendors (DJ, officiant, transportation) all of whom did a great job.

Michelle at Weddings by KatiLady did an amazing job helping us plan our wedding in St. John from a distance. She was super friendly, very responsive, and detail-minded. The wedding cake we had was unforgettable! It was a 2 tier white chocolate butter cream icing cake designed to look like sandy beaches with white chocolate starfish on top and dusted in grahm crackers. The filling of lemon curd and raspberry was divine. The fact that they delivered it to the restaurant before hand made the event run that much smoother. We could not have been happier!

What can I say? She made my day! I can HONESTLY say without hesitation that I had the most AMAZING and BEAUTIFUL wedding EXPERIENCE! It was a 3 day event for guests that started with a pub crawl on Thursday night---she had all the bars set up and ready to go for us. She made little tickets for our guests that were adorable! Friday morning was a Beach BBQ-she rented scuba gear and kayaks. We had catered food which was amazing! We did a Catamaran sail for the rehearsal dinner. The day of the wedding, Saturday, went so smooth! We had taxi service for our guests to and from all events which she set up as well. I don't know what went on behind the scenes from her end, but everything went PERFECT for me and my guests from beginning to end. I heard no complaints, and I can truly say I have absolutely, 100%, no complaints or regrets. My guests had the most amazing time as did my husband and I. She is creative, organized, well loved on the island, and everything you could want in a wedding planner :) PS-She made the wedding cake...vanilla with dark chocolate ganache...HOLY MOLY, WOW!!! What an amazing cake! I can honestly say I was blown away by it! Without being able to taste it before hand I was obviously nervous, but oh my goodness, it was TO DIE FOR!!!! I guess I do have one regret, that I couldn't bring it back on the plane :(

From the first phone call with Kati at Katilady we felt relieved that there was someone at St. John who could arrange our wedding with us so far away. She was easy to talk to and work with. She was patient and open to all of our ideas. After all the details were set and the day was here we had to unexpectedly change the wedding location due to weather. Kati and her staff responded in record time and transformed the villa we were at into a beautiful wedding site. During the ceremony the staff worked so seamlessly that they felt as if they were part of the guests. Our guests told us afterwards that it was the most beautiful wedding they'd ever been too. We can't imagine a more wonderful wedding and it was thanks to Kati, Michelle and all those involved with katilady.

Weddings by KatiLady planned our entire event, they did the wedding dinner and a specialized wedding cake. We were on St. John for 10 days and ate out a lot and our catered wedding dinner was the best meal we had all week long. Definitely not the kind of wedding food we have experienced. My groom is a pastry chef and we spent a lot of time going over the details of our cake. Even with the challanges that the tropical heat contributes, it was better than we could have imagined. We did a characature cake and it duplicated the picture exactly and most of our guests went back for seconds it was so moist and flavorful.
We had never been to St. John so we were very nervous about the whole destination thing but Kati put us at ease with our monthly skype meetings. This was the best decision we made! Thank you Kati and your employees for being so helpful and making our day everything we dreamed it to be.

Kati and team, we can't thank you enough. Looking back I realize now what a challenge our party must have been. Thank you for all of your special attention to details and for making each event different and fun for all of our guests. The welcome party that you planned at Joes Rum hut with BBQ on the beach started our party off on the right foot. How lucky we're we that just down the beach there was live music to dance to after the BBQ just as you said their would be.
We were somewhat hesitant to do our rehearsal dinner at our in laws villa because we didn't want it to be just like the wedding at our villa but to our surprise it had a completely different feel and was very causual and laid back. Our guests are still raving about your catering and desserts.
We would have never realized that we couldn't have the exact seating arrangement that we wanted if you hadn't been so familiar with Annaburgs rocky ground. Your suggestions for isle and chair placement were beautiful and our pictures are stunning. When we left our villa for the reception, your team was just setting up and we could never have imagined how the villa could be so transformed in such a short while and how your staff got every details right. The signature drinks were a huge success. I never would have been so claim but you never let my side before the ceremony and thank you for being so prepared!!!! What would we have done without your sewing kit!
We ate at many restaurants while we were there and we all agree our wedding dinner was the best meal we had throughout the week.
The Sunrise Set sail on our last day was a great idea and way to say thank you to our guests for traveling so far.
Kati, we can never thank you enough and Keven is still talking about our wedding cake!

Katilady was an absolute joy to work with. We used there service to plan our destination wedding in February 2009. Our only communication prior to meeting several days before the wedding was via email and phone. Kati and her staff assured me that my day would be not only perfect but smooth. After looking for a wedding coordinator on St John that was licensed for St John beach weddings and did wedding AND reception coordination - I found Kati with Katilady. I cannot say enough about how perfect our wedding was. It was beyond my expectations and everything was taken care of. I did not worry or do one thing the entire day except enjoy myself! We had so much fun and the vendors she suggested were all amazing. It can be confusing trying to plan from afar but Kati was responsive to all my emails and calls. She met with us the day before the wedding - I had made some decorative items I wanted placed out and she took them and did exactly as I had asked. I really cannot say more - if you are looking for a wedding planner on St John... choose Kati, you will not be disappointed!

We had a wonderful wedding planned mainly via email (by our preference due to a major time difference). Kati and her crew were prompt and very clear about the process and the costs. We are very happy with our experience and our wedding turned out fabulous! We never felt pressured...actually the exact opposite. The vendors for the welcome party and wedding reception were so accommodating and the places were fun and beautiful. If we had to do it all over again, we would definitely pick Katilady!

Kati did a fantastic job of managing the details of our wedding on St John, USVI. Although my fiancé and I had lived there and had many contacts, the reality of pulling off a wedding in the islands is that there are a LOT of moving pieces and parts, and Kati being on the ground and helping to organize and visualize everything was fantastic. She got along great with my mother in law and the bride as well as worked well with the vendors we chose--special bonus: she makes cakes and did a hell of a job on the Carrot Cake we had at our wedding! Highly recommended for anyone wanting to get married in the paradise of the USVI!

I had never visited the USVI before this wedding trip and left a lot of things in your hands and you truly amazed me. As the sister of the bride and the maid of honor, KatiLady was the most amazing planner and allowed us to enjoy every one of our special events flawlessly! Michelle Fage (with Weddings by Kailady) was our wedding planner and we absolutely loved working with her! From the very beginning she proved she was eager and willing to work with our wedding vision. One perk Katilady offered us that others, like the Westin, didn't was the flexibilty to choose our own photographer (Sage Parker) and DJ (DJ Brakes). Having our ceremony in St Johns National Park on the beach proved to be our most challenging task due to their strict regulations. There were a few times we were not able to go forward with our desired plans but Michelle assured us Katilady and their team of vendors would not let us down. On the wedding day, I admit we did not know entirely how everything would turn out. But Michelle and her team completely exceeded our expectations! Our flowers were perfect, the music was lovely, our guests were happy, our reception was so much fun! I would definitely recommend her services to someone else. You're in good hands with Katilady!

Katilady was very dependable and followed through with all our request. It was always dealt with a smile and was very patient. I would use them again and highly recommend.

Kati was fantastic and made planning our destination wedding in St. John so easy. The event flowed flawlessly and everyone had a fantastic time. We also had a special catering request to have the entire wedding be gluten-free, and Kati delivered a delicious menu (even gluten-free wedding cake and key lime pie) that everyone loved. Couldn't recommend her more highly for planning a wedding on St. John.

I'm not too familiar with shopping for wedding cakes, so I left a lot of the decisions up to the people at Katilady to make decisions. I didn't have a chance to try their cake before I ordered it because I don't live in St. John. They did a beautiful job on the cake. The white chocolate shells were beautiful and delicious. There was a lot of frosting on the cake, which I don't like as much but I know some people love that so I can't say whether it was good or bad. I was happy with the service.

Kati is amazing! She is so good at what she does. My wedding day was so memorable and I cannot thank her enough. The cake was delicious, but I'm sad I only had 2 bites :( My husband and I will definitely go back to St. John and we will highly recommend any engaged couple to do a destination wedding with Weddings by Katilady!!

KatiLady is a great option if you are looking to do a destination wedding! You feel like Kati and her employees have been life-long friends and do a great job of getting you familiar with the island. Katilady provides a lot of value in the initial planning stages and the day of. Katilady is great with dealing with the unexpected and someone you want helping you! We are so fortunate to have had her when one the groomsmen showed up the day of w/o his pants hemmed! Although we did not use her catering services, I did some sampling and can vouch that it delicious! I was a little bummed we wouldn't be serving Katilady food at our wedding but our location didn't allow outside vendors for food. I would highly recommend using Kati even if you think you are familiar with the island.

The wedding day went great. Kati and her team delivered everything we were expecting, and in many cases exceeded expectations. They were on top of everything so we could enjoy our wedding day. A huge thanks to Kati and her team for making the day one we will never forget. Our friends and family loved it - we received lots of positive feedback about the wedding.

Some comments:
1) Everything started on time
2) All vendors delivered exactly what was promised, and in some cases a bit more (ie - photographer gave us more photos)
3) Invoices were detailed and clear, so we knew exactly what we were paying for

Only thing that could have gone better is more transparency on pricing and options earlier in the process. On several instances, it took us several iterations with the wedding coordinator to figure out pricing for dinner or appetizers or centerpieces. Would have been much easier for us to see all the options and prices upfront instead of going back and forth to decipher the options and prices.

Overall we were really happy with how our event turned out. Kati and team delivered above expectations on the wedding day.

Kati was very helpful in planning our destination wedding. She was there on my wedding day to pick me up and take me to the ceremony which I thought was really nice! We did not use her catering services because it was just too expensive. Being that we had a small group(9ppl) I could not see spending $1500.00+ for just food services. Cake was affordable, but not that tastey!! Overall it was nice having someone(being that we were out of town)from St. John to take care of all the details(booking the officiant, photographer, resturant for after ceremony and cake). She was always availble to talk when I needed her and responded to emails in a very timely manner. Again, it was just a bit more expensive than we intended, but it was GREAT!!!

Kati was a pleasure to work with. The day went so well and it was such a relief to have her take care of everything. Kati and I worked together for over a year and she provided great guidance and advise. She clearly knows the island and has a great network and relationships. Because she has been doing this for so long, at times I did feel like I had to push her a bit to think outside the box, but it didn't take much and because she has those relationships, she was able to meet our needs and a few times saved us $! You do have to check her work on some of the details - there was a lot of back and forth on her invoices because of things she had overlooked. But I see these as smaller issues and the final product was amazing. I would certainly recommend her as a planner should you decide to get married in St. John.

Katilady Wedding Services made our entire wedding process, not just day but the months leading up to it completely stress free. Everyone of the entire Katilady team are to thank for the flawless execution the day of the wedding and it was more than I ever could have imagined! The entire wedding week was indescribably perfect in every sense. Katilady was extremely accommodated and worked with us to provide us with everything we ever desire. Guests are still talking about the beef crostini and conch fritters appetizers...don't miss out! I undoubtedly recommend Katilady Wedding Services and Catering to anyone and everyone considering them. Congratulations and good luck!

Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in using KatiLady for my wedding planning on St John. Initially Kati was great to work with but when it came down to the actual week of my wedding I realized anything left in her hands alone was in jeopardy. The villa she recommended for me to stay in which she told me "had glorious views of Fish Bay" you could not even see the water from. The beach she recommended we get married on was perfect for wheelchair access, it's just that no one attending MY wedding needed that and we ended up changing the ceremony location just days before my wedding. She was calling me the morning of my wedding to ask if I wanted buttercream or fondant icing on my wedding cake . . . I had sent her exact pictures of the cake I wanted months prior. Most of the vendors she put me in direct contact with were great . . . my officiant, hair & make up & photographer. But those she communicated with for me were not great, such as the florist . . . my bridesmaids' bouquets looked nothing like the pictures I send her, the flowers were overpriced for the size, quality and presentation. If you chose to work with Kati, you will need to very carefully look over the invoices she sends you. Check her math on every line item. She will also "mistakenly" try to charge you 20% gratuity on every line item and if you pay with a credit card you will need to check the charges as she charged my card greater amounts than the agreed on total on the invoice. She will never apologize for any of her mistakes and will leave a bad taste in your mouth. Kait is unorganized, unprofessional and slightly unethical. I tried to offer her some feedback on my experience as I too am an event planner and she does not want to hear it. It's too bad really but definitely not the experience you want when you are planning your wedding. My advice: choose someone else!

DO NOT US KATILADY!! I ordered a 10" square cake with white icing (decorated as shown in one of her pictures on her website), with chocolate cake and chocolate raspberry filling. The cake arrived about 1 1/2 before my wedding ceremony. Her delivery girl was paid the balance which was 90$. The total cost for this 10" cake was $180 which is crazy. When I opened the box to take a look at the cake I could not believe it. Not only was the cake "round" when I ordered a "square" cake but the icing was an ugly, disgusting yellow color with a few dots and swirls on it, NOTHING LIKE THE PICTURE ON HER WEBSITE!!! I immediately contacted Katilady and spoke directly to Miss rude Kati herself. She was not only rude to me on the phone but not once did she apologize for her major mistake as far as I am concerned it was MAJOR MISTAKE. After she had to check her so called "invoices" to see if I really did order a white frosting square cake and realized that clearly she or her staff who obviously never made it past the first grade because they do not know the difference between square and round, or white and yellow. Very sad! As I am getting ready for my wedding ceremony the last thing that I needed was this lady to annoy me anymore then I was already annoyed. I had to tell her that I wanted the delivery girl to come back with my check because I was not about to pay her $180 for a cake I did not order. It's bad enough I had already sent her a $90 deposite which at that point felt was too much money for an ugley yellow round cake that I did not order! She contacted the delivery girl and she did come back with my $90 check. I didn't even want to think about what the inside of the cake looked like or what it was going to taste like. When the time came to cut the cake all I could see was a whitish colored something floating insideo of the chocolate cake it almost looked like nuts. When I tasted the cake I though I was going to spit it out thats how bad it tasted. It was horrible. It tasted like cardboard. There was no taste, it was not sweet at all, the white things floating around were not nuts but it was as if they didn't stir the cake batter completely. The yellow icing was horrible, and the so called chocolate raspberry filling looked and tasted like they used raspberry jam as the filling. It was truly the worst looking and tasting cake I ever had in my life. HORRIBLE. DO NOT USE KATILADY FOR YOUR WEDDING CAKE AND I WOULD NOT USE HER FOR ANYTHING - BECAUSE IF SHE CAN'T MAKE A CAKE OR DOES NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SQUARE AND ROUND WHITE AND YELLOW HOW CAN SHE POSSIBLY CATER YOUR WEDDING OR PARTY - SHE NEEDS TO FIRST LEARN HOW TO BOIL WATER AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED!

We hired Katilady for our wedding cake and ordered a cutting cake and two dozen cupcakes. We received the cupcakes (which didn't taste very good, especially the chocolate ones which had little chocolate flavour and tasted more like sawdust) in the morning but never got the cake. They had at least 5 to 6 hours to get us something together but we got nothing, not even a letter, phone call, or email to apologize or explain what had happened.

We only received a reply and were offered a *partial* refund (that didn't even encompass the full charges for the cake on our invoice) AFTER I emailed them asking for a refund. That was not only unacceptable it was insulting. The cutting cake is an important part of the wedding day; the loss of that can never be fully refunded.

That they didn't even try to contact us before we contacted them THREE DAYS AFTER OUR WEDDING is completely unprofessional.

BEWARE OF THIS VENDOR. There are other places on St John to get your cake from. In our case we would have been better off baking a cake ourselves or buying one from Starfish Market. Luckily the awesome folks who catered our reception came to our rescue.
