Awesome DJ!

My husband is very picky about music so we really needed a DJ who wasn't cheesy and understood our preferences. Sound Choice provided just that. We worked with Dave and it was a great experience. We met up a few weeks before the wedding and went over everything we wanted to have played and everything we didn't on the big day. Dave captured our musical style perfectly and had everyone out on the dance floor without any gimmicks. I highly recommend Sound Choice!

Great at reading the room!

Dave Hoeffel of Sound Choice Disc Jockeys absolutely nailed our wedding day. He was incredibly professional and did a fantastic job! We had a two-story venue and I was worried that the sound would be uniform throughout the space, but Dave made it perfect. People could easily talk and mingle during cocktail hour and dinner, and he raised the volume gradually to get everyone out on the dance floor after dinner. The dance floor was then packed the entire reception. He did a great job reading the room and playing music that suited everyone’s tastes. Dave is truly the best and we couldn’t recommend him enough!

Perfect Soundtrack for Our Wedding

From our initial discussion through the end of our wedding, we were very pleased with Dave! We first emailed him and received a prompt response. We set up an initial phone call and learned more about Dave and to explain what we wanted for our wedding. During the call Dave did not pressure us to hire him whatsoever (we talked for about an hour), but instead explained his passion for music and being a DJ. It was also clear he had an impressive knowledge of music from the 50s to today. Dave also explained that he didn’t have a set playlist that he used, but instead asked what genres of music we liked, then chose songs based off that and of course how the people on the dance floor reacted. Dave was also familiar with our venue (and the specific room within the venue) so that made us feel even better about hiring him. We agreed to work with Dave, and planned to have a follow up call a month before the wedding.
A month before the wedding, Dave reached out to us to set up the call. We discussed the cocktail hour music, processional/recessional/bridge song, first dances, and what genres of music were okay to play at the wedding. We still hadn’t chosen a lot of these songs for the ceremony and first dances, but Dave was patient and gave us examples from recent weddings he had done. We also discussed “must play” and “don’t play” lists, which of course Dave abided by at the wedding.
Dave did a perfect job at the wedding itself. The cocktail hour music was great – we were glad we didn’t bother hiring a piano player (the room already had a piano in it). We weren’t really aware of the music because it was exactly what we wanted (and we were busy mingling!) but every few minutes we would notice a song was playing that we really liked. We soon transitioned to the first dances and then to dinner. Dave did a great job with the announcements – kept them simple and to the point. After the dances we transitioned to dinner, during which Dave played great background music. We didn’t dance between any of the courses, but once dinner was over, we headed to the dance floor (which was in an adjacent, connected room). Dave knew what to do, and switched up the music to get everyone out of their seats. There was never a lull after that. Everyone enjoyed the music. Dave was great about playing requests made on the fly (and sticking to “don’t play” and “must play” which we had discussed previously). Most importantly, he was able to stay an extra half hour past the agreed time since we were having so much fun dancing.
Overall we were so thrilled we chose Dave. Dancing and having fun was a very important part of what we wanted for our wedding. He didn’t make the wedding/music/announcements about him, which was something we were concerned about with some of the “stereotypical New Jersey” DJs we saw while doing research. If you want a DJ who is a professional, has great knowledge of music, and who knows how to read a crowd and keep everyone dancing, Dave is the DJ for you.

Dave and Sound Choice DJs did the PERFECT job at our wedding on 10-8-17. I had been to far too many weddings with poor DJ experiences to slack when it came to our wedding reception music. Dave is clearly top notch. Living 4 hours away was no problem, as we met several times over Skype to discuss our preferences. Dave was attentive and informative of what will work, and took great care in crafting the perfect playlists for our cocktail hour and reception.

His equipment is top notch, and didn't interfere with our unique venue at all. I couldn't even tell you where one speaker was in that room, but the quality and volume were just perfect. He did a great job of toning it down while people were eating, and ramping it up to get people out on the dance floor!

We got many compliments throughout the night about the music selection and his overall professionalism. A DJ can make or break a wedding reception and Dave helped to meet and exceed our expectations for our perfect night. I would happily recommend Dave to anyone for their next event. Thank you Dave!

We hired Dave to DJ at our daughter’s wedding at the Molly Pitcher Inn in Red Bank, NJ. We were attracted by the fact that he identified himself as the “non-tacky DJ” which is exactly what we wanted and exactly what we got. Dave is a pro. He focused on just playing music without unnecessary chatter and gimmicks and kept our guests dancing and having a good time throughout the reception and the “after-party” that followed. He also is so knowledgeable that he was able to provide microphones and technical assistance for the musicians for the ceremony and cocktail hour. The bride and groom were thrilled with Dave’s selections. He judged the diverse crowed so correctly with his choice of music that several people stopped us during the reception and after to tell us what a great DJ he was and how much fun they were having. On a personal note, we appreciated that he was very responsive to our questions and that he met with us in advance of the ceremony to plan every detail. If you are looking for a DJ to work with you to realize your vision for an event, Dave is it.

We picked Dave Hoeffel to DJ for our wedding. He provided the music for our ceremony, the cocktail hour, and the reception. Before you "pooh-pooh" having a DJ and think you HAVE to have a band, let me tell you about our experience. We met with Dave before we made the final decision about DJ versus band. After our initial meeting, we knew we wanted to have Dave DJ our wedding. He has no gimmicks and talked very little. For him, it's all about the music. He worked with us to develop a play list and made some terrific suggestions that we incorporated into our ceremony and cocktail hour. We told him that all we want is for the dance floor to always be packed and for everyone to have a good time. Dave delivered in spades. We've been to alot of weddings, some with some spectacular bands, and there's never been more dancing or more people talking about what a great time they had for WEEKS afterward. He even had an inspired moment when he played "Piano Man" and had 150 people swaying together on the dance floor and singing along at the top of their lungs. It was EPIC! I can't say enough good things about him.

We were so happy with the decision to hire Dave to be our DJ at our wedding. From his first email where he attached images of how he sets up his speakers at our venue, to two personal meetings, to his stellar work on the wedding day, we were so happy with how personal the experience was. In comparison to large DJ companies that seemed very impersonal, Dave responded to my initial email with lots of great information about his role in the wedding. When we met in person, he showed a great knowledge of music and answered all our questions. At the wedding itself, he created a great atmosphere, he was a great emcee, the quality of the equipment was great and he played all the songs we wanted. We couldn’t have been happier with his role in our wedding!

Want a wedding DJ who knows what sound equipment he is using, who cares about sound quality and who will listen to your requests? Dave Hoeffel at Sound Choice Disc Jockeys, Inc is that guy. We picked Dave because he wasn't the typical 'character' DJ that we found everywhere else-more interested in the sound of their own voice and fashion sense than about the music. What a great choice! People were dancing all night, even through dinner! We couldn't have hoped for more!

First, if you want to perform at your own wedding, Dave is the guy to set it up for you. He managed to wirelessly setup three mics, as well as mic a keyboard, without any plug-in power source!! We were able to do a piano duet in the middle of a backyard (he had power near the building in the back). Everything sounded amazing, and we know most DJs cannot do this. He also assured us that whatever sounds needs we had, he would be able to accommodate, and we never had to worry that it wouldn't go smoothly.
Second, we have never been to a wedding with such a diverse playlist that had every age group up and dancing. We had compliments all night and are still receiving them. Dave got to know what we wanted, but also knew the crowd.
We highly recommend him for your wedding. He really went above and beyond and knows what he is doing. Thanks, Dave!

I was lucky enough to get a referral for Dave from one of my friends who was also impressed by him. She did not steer me wrong. We first met Dave at a local coffee shop by us. While my wife's Bruce Springsteen shirt was easily recognizable, especially here in New Jersey, my Siouxsie and the Banshee's t-shirt tends to draw more questions. Not from Dave, however. He impressed me throughout our first meeting with his encyclopedic knowledge of music and music history. His emphasis on letting the music speak for itself, rather than relying upon cheesy gimmicks or taking over the wedding with DJ banter, won us over. Flash forward to the big day. Dave hit all the points perfectly. From the time the crowd drew into the winery until the last dance, he set the mood with expertise. The dance floor kept moving and I was thrilled to see even some people that would ordinarily step into a bear trap sooner than dance floor joining us. My wife and I, as well as our guests, have strong music preferences. Dave worked with us to make sure those songs that reflected each of us were represented, while taking care to not play anything that would make us cringe. I seriously cannot say enough good things about the experience with Dave. If you want a professional DJ, with an amazing knowledge of music, that will keep your whole party going your whole wedding, Sound Choice Disc Jockeys is the way to go. In this day and age where everyone has an iPhone or some sort of MP3 device, it is essential to have a professional like Dave that not only has the songs, but has the professional experience to read the crowd and know what songs to play and when.

We worked with DJ Steve for our wedding and he was absolutely perfect! Everything went so smoothly, he took care of the music for our ceremony and reception. He showed up early and got set up quickly. My cousin was performing a song during my ceremony and he worked well with her to get her the mic she needed. He kept in contact from the time we booked him to the wedding and worked with us to make sure he understood our needs and preferences. We had a number of last minute changes (some even on the day of the wedding) and he handled everything with professionalism and ease. I actually chose Steve because he was the DJ for my cousin's wedding and we thought he was good, I appreciated him even more after he worked our wedding because we could see how good he was at reading the crowd and how he played different music for a different demographic. There wasn't a single song where the dance floor was empty, he kept it packed all night long. We got several compliments on the music throughout the night and we would highly recommend him to anyone looking to book a DJ!

My husband and I booked DJ Dave for our wedding, and we are so happy we did! He is extremely knowledgeable in different music genres and reading the crowd to play music that everyone got up to dance to. DJ Dave was so helpful from the very start, we had been in touch with him for about a year prior to the big day. He always responded immediately to any questions I had, and even met up with us just to chat about 6 months before our wedding ( I was a little apprehensive about booking with someone and not meeting!). He advertises using wireless speakers on his web-site, and let me tell ya I didn't even notice them at all anywhere the day of- not like some DJ's that have the huge speakers boxes and all that. DJ Dave was awesome to work with, is a man who knows his music, and had everyone at our wedding up and dancing having a great time!!!

Dave at Sound Choice Disc Jockey’s Inc. was wonderful! He had access to a wide variety of genres and time periods of music. He used his clear love of music and passion about the art of planning the wedding soundtrack to ask us just the right questions to better understand how we wanted our day to feel and sound. Dave also wasn’t afraid to make suggestions during the planning meetings; which was great when my husband and I were unsure of what songs we wanted for our cake cutting and bouquet/garter toss. These meetings allowed him to get to know us on a personal level which really showed on our wedding day when he played just the right blend of music that fit not only our interests, but our guests’ as well. Sound Choice’s technology of skinny and unobtrusive speakers combined with a great soundboard and an extensive knowledge of our venue allowed for just the right level of sound and an enjoyable time for all. Most importantly, Dave made sure to pronounce all of the wedding party’s names correctly. If you desire, he also hosts a wonderful (and brief) “shoe game” that had all of our guests entertained with clever questions. We received so many compliments on our music during both the cocktail hour and reception from all generations of guests. We would highly recommend Dave and his company to all of our friends and family who want a fun and tasteful wedding reception experience.

Hiring Sound Choice DJs was one of the best decisions we made during our wedding planning! We were referred to Dave by our venue and I'm so glad we were. Dave was very professional, always quick to respond to my emails and even drove into the city to meet with us.

DJ Dave was fabulous! I got so many compliments on the music and the best mark of a good DJ was how he kept everyone on their feet dancing all night! He was extremely flexible with our special request for a limited reception and made what would have been an awkward situation (briefly being unable to locate the mother of the groom) look like nothing went amiss! I would recommend Sound Choice (Dave) to ANYONE. I was referred to Dave from another friend who had gotten married at my venue, the Nassau Inn, and he was the best classy DJ at a truly awesome price - i.e., almost a thousand dollars less than other contenders. Dave set up an amazing sound setup for the ceremony - including a string trio, which he had to mic and amplify - and took so much time learning about our style and wedding feel for the reception. He picked the best parts of all the songs we chose for entrances and dances, and even rolled with us when we did nontraditional things like bring out a birthday cake for the groom's father. I've never seen a more packed dance floor at a wedding, and it made our day absolutely perfect. He was especially respectful of our requests to keep certain family members AWAY from the mics and the DJ booth!

I cannot speak highly enough of Dave. He was worth every penny and then some. If you want a solid wedding DJ who won't need to throw glowsticks or confetti at your guests to get them out of their seats, he is your only choice!

We used Sound Choice DJ/Dave Hoeffel for our wedding and could not have been happier! We actually found Dave after doing an internet search for "non-tacky DJs" and got exactly what we hoped for. Our venue, Cairnwood Estate, is a historic mansion and the floor plan is unique. I wanted my guests to have fun but also wanted the wedding to reflect the elegance of the setting - I did not want it to feel like a dance club. From the minute we met with Dave, he understood exactly what we wanted and he definitely delivered. He had all of our guests, from my 9 year-old nieces to my 88 year-old grandmother, up dancing all night long and did not need to resort to cheesy props to get everyone to have a good time. We had multiple people ask for his information as they were so impressed. We would highly recommend Dave/Sound Choice DJs to anyone!

Steve was our DJ and he was amazing! We didn't want one of those loud, annoying DJs that a lot of companies seem to be and Sound Choice was exactly what we were looking for. Steve was extremely nice and professional and played all the right music. We didn't think our families were really dancing people, but the dance floor was filled all night!

At the end of the night it was just the Bridal Party left and we didn't want to stop dancing, even after Steve was done. He was so nice and played one final song for us and that was by far one of the most memorable and best parts of the evening. Thank you again Steve for a great evening! We couldn't be happier with choosing Sound Choice and highly recommend them!!

Dave Hoeffel was our DJ and we could not have been more pleased! Throughout the whole process - pre-wedding plans, visiting the venue beforehand and then the actual party itself - Dave was the consummate pro. His knowledge of music is encyclopedic and his ability to get people out on the dance floor and keep them there, is unparalleled! If you want a 20-something DJ to "take over" your wedding with announcements, props, gimmicks and schtick (face it - we've all seen them and they're your wedding's worst nightmare), Dave is NOT your guy. If you want a TRUE PRO, Dave is THE MAN. We got TONS of compliments from people of ALL ages; if I could give 50 stars, I would!

I highly recommend Dave from Sound Choice Disc Jockeys.

From our first meeting, I knew we were in good hands. Dave is incredibly knowledgeable about every type of music. He was receptive to all of our ideas and suggestions, but also had some good suggestions of his own.

Many of our wedding guests made remarks about the reception music and how great the DJ was. The dance floor was packed throughout the entire wedding and Dave helped create the perfect vibe / energy that resulted in an amazing and fun night to remember.

Additionally, I accidentally overpaid him (and didn't realize it). Instead of letting it slide (as I'm sure plenty of vendors would), he sent me back a check for the amount I overpaid. I really appreciated his integrity in this situation.

Dave Hoeffel was the DJ for our wedding on May 23rd, 2015 and he was FANTASTIC! He was extremely responsive throughout the planning. We sat down with him about a month before our wedding and he really got to know us as a couple and our music preferences. We wanted to dance A LOT at our wedding, and he was the perfect DJ for this. He played to the crowd and played a mix of different genres and decades. We would highly recommend him.

Dave Hoeffel = perfect professional. Start to finish he was a pleasure, prompt & gracious communication throughout the whole process. During our meeting, he listened and asked questions to all that we wanted, and made great suggestions for the things that we were still undecided on. We had a bit of an odd choice of music – country, rat pack, with some 80’srap , I also threw in many many random requests, and somehow by his magic he choreographed the reception and hit every note. I had many wedding guests who made point to tell us that we had the best DJ out of all their wedding experiences. He interacted graciously with the family while we were getting ready to be announced ( it was like herding cats), and made sure he pronounced every first and last name correctly. He had a wonderful, professional enthusiasm during the whole event – non of that “obnoxious” DJ announcing, he made it seem as though he had the same passion for our event as we did. Dave DJed our wedding and we cannot be happier with our choice! We wanted a DJ that got people dancing, played songs we requested, but most importantly didn't yell at our guests or use any cheesy gimmicks. We got exactly what we wanted with Dave - he was polite and direct in our meetings, and at the wedding played the exact kind of music we wanted. He made the announcements we wanted without being over the top or in anyone's face. Dave has amazing sound equipment and it ran without a hitch. In all, he was a perfect wedding DJ and I recommend him to anyone!

Our DJ made the night at our wedding! First off... our actual DJ was John Weber and I couldn't have been more pleased with him. He was very accommodating to our busy schedules and was willing to meet us at our house on a weeknight to go over the wedding day music choices. I had a lot of details that I laid out for him and he payed attention to every last detail. The timing of everything was perfect all night, and you really need the DJ to be on top of this so I am SO glad I had one of the best to make my night run as smoothly as it possibly could go. He was not cheesy or over the top, but he was friendly and approachable. The music set up for dinner and the ceremony was so great, I didn't even know where he was set up and the sound quality was great for being outside. Our wedding events took place in 3 different locations on the property (Prallsville Mills) and the music just followed us wherever we went like it was just coming out of nowhere. These guys KNOW what they're doing and I so strongly recommend them and ask for John!

Dave DJed our wedding reception, and I gave him a big huge list of songs that I wanted to hear. He did a great job of incorporating those but then also playing a mix that got people out on the dance floor. Dave did a great job and I would definitely recommend him to anyone else!

Dave did a great job as our DJ. He played ALL the right songs -- he really "got" what we were looking for. He was professional and fun without being at all gimicky - we loved that! He was super easy to work with and we had a GREAT time dancing at our wedding!

Sound Choice DJs provided the music/sound for both our ceremony and reception. We couldn't be happier with our choice. Dave was easy to work with, "got" our vision from the start, and played all the hits off of our "must have" list. He got people out to the dance floor - from age 1 to 90 - by playing a great variety of tunes. You won't be disappointed with Dave and Sound Choice DJs!

There are a few things that make or break a wedding, and music is one of them. Dave was recommended to us by our venue, and now we know why--and we couldn't agree more. Dave was above and beyond excellent--he was friendly, professional, had great attention to detail, and fit our mood and style perfectly. My husband works for an audio visual company--the room was full of sound and recording engineers, and they all had nothing but the best things to say about Dave, a rare occurrence for sound guys. We cannot recommend him enough!

Dave provided the amazing music for our wedding at the Nassau Inn in Princeton, NJ. His music choices, professionalism, and energy made the whole experience, from planning to the reception, totally enjoyable and a lot of fun. We had four generations of family and friends at the Inn for our wedding, and Dave found something for everyone to get them out on the dance floor and celebrating. Dave, the owner of Sound Choice, was the dj for our wedding. He was amazing! The dance floor was a non-stop party. He was helpful in selecting music and keeps to the do and do-not play list. We received many compliments on the music. Dave is also very professional in appearance and demeanor. He is super responsive when it comes to correspondence pre-wedding, and was very flexible when we changed timing on him. I could not say enough about how outstanding his services were.

Dave and Sound Choice deserve all five stars!

Dave asked us for play and "do not" play lists and he stuck to them like glue. He played all of the songs we wanted to hear! He also seemed to have a feel for the type of music that we liked and that we didn't like, based on our lists, and choice excellent selections. The majority of the people at our wedding told us how awesome the music was and how great Dave was. My Dad loves jazz, and he was so excited that Dave had a song on an album he loved. Dave has a great selection of music!

He was also very flexible with us. My husband and I live on the West Coast but got married in NJ. He communicated with us mostly through email and he was always prompt and thorough when responding to us.

Dave was professional, helpful, attentive and just a really nice person. I wish he were the DJ at every wedding I attend!

David, the owner, from Sound Choice was the DJ for our wedding. He did an amazing job! He was organized, prepared, flexible in meeting with us, reasonable, SUPER knowledgable, and nice as could be. Not only did he provide music for our wedding, he also mic'd us up to perform a song walking down the aisle. He had wireless mics, lapel mic's and transmitters for wirelessly connecting a guitar. With just 2 run-throughs it sounded great!!

Got many compliments from guests. He let us choose songs we wanted, provided a list of popular songs for different parts of the reception (cake cutting, dances with parents, etc) and did a great job filling in the blanks in between.

He let the music do the work rather than talking through the reception which we loved. He limited off-the-wall requests from guests that we wouldn't have wanted. Overall, we couldn't be happier with the job he did! Highly recommend David.

I don't have enough wonderful things to say about our dj, Steve. He was easy to communicate with, had great ideas that matched our vision for the day, and threw a great party. EVERYONE was having a blast on the dance floor, which is a huge statement because my family isn't a 'dancing' bunch. Our guests commented on his charisma, and my husband and I agree that he made our wedding a complete success! I definitely recommend Sound Choice for any event!

I cannot say enough amazing things about our wedding DJ Dave Hoeffel! There was no point of the evening where there weren't people on the dance floor! We had everything from Etta James to 90s to Donna Sommers and Country! It was an unbelievable night! All night we had compliments on the music and everyone kept coming up to us asking where we had found him! He played an amazing selection and even custom made a father/daughter dance mix for us!! He was so helpful in the planning process as well! Anytime I had a question he replied immediately! Our meeting with him was completely stress free, he came to us even though we live in Northern NJ and was thorough in asking what we liked and didnt like and any special requests. An absolute top notch DJ!

Two of my friends have used Sound Choice at their weddings so we knew how great Dave and Joel were. Joel Katz was our DJ and we couldn't have been happier! He was easy to contact through email. He made sure he had the bridal parties names and entrance songs correct, he was very thorough. He listened to what songs I wanted to play and didn't want to play. Everyone had a great time!!!

Working with Dave was a pleasure from start to finish. His easy going manner set me at ease immediately, and that was before he revealed his truly encyclopedic knowledge of music! I loved meeting with him. I felt like I was attending a music seminar :) I initially felt pretty lost when it came to music, since my knowledge of it is rather limited. But he provided excellent suggestions, so that we ended up looking so good with our guests! His experience is clear--both as a DJ and an emcee. He managed our night flawlessly, played all the right things at the right moments, and was very accommodating of a last minute change to our event order. Our dance floor was hopping all night long!

With his decades of music, DJ, and radio experience, along with his radio-ready voice, we were astonished to learn that Dave Hoeffel's services were not only highly affordable, but cheaper than many of the other DJ's we researched. Dave was great in scheduling an initial meeting, and agreed to meet us at a local restaurant. He is very knowledgable about music and weddings and has all of the most up to date equipment (Bose speakers, Mac computers, etc). It almost seems as if he does the wedding DJing for a fun side job, not to earn a living. Which is a great benefit for anyone! Plus, Dave had DJed at our venue dozens of times, so he knew exactly where to set up, had recommendations about where to do toasts, etc, and I didn't have to worry about coordinating him at all. The day of, he was there early, set up quickly, and I barely noticed his arrival (which is great the day of...one less thing to worry about). I can't remember a single song he played, so I can't comment as to the music selection, but I do know that the dance floor was packed from beginning to end, so it must have been good. My one comment is he seemed to lump all of the reception events together (first dance, parent dance, cake cutting, bouquet toss, garter, etc), which seemed strange to me, but looking back on it, I was glad to get all of the 'must-do's' out of the way so we could just relax, dance, and enjoy ourselves. Overall, Dave of Sound Choice DJs was a greatly underpriced value, an excellent DJ, and a huge pleasure to work with.

Look no further for a wedding DJ. Dave is the absolute best of the best.

The number one thing I recieved compliments on from our wedding was the music; Dave played exactly the right things at the right time and played a little bit of eveything. From the first dance to the last, our dance floor was packed! All ages enjoyed his music selections.

Dave is extremely professional, timely, so nice, and has a way of doing his job in the classiest way possible. In addition, another plus is his equipment is very sleek and blends in with whatever space you have your wedding at, nothing bulky or ugly.

Do yourself a favor and book Sound Choice, you will not be disappointed!

Dave Hoeffel was amazing! Everybody came up to us at the end of the night and said what a great DJ we had. Our guests were dancing non-stop until the very last dance, and everything we discussed with Dave beforehand was carried out perfectly. He was also able to roll with the punches, as it rained on our wedding day and we moved the ceremony location at the last minute and all of the mics for the ceremony. There was a slight malfunction with one of the mics during a reading, but considering the rain and the quick location change, I think that was unavoidable. Dave is also very knowledgeable about all different types of music, and was quick to respond to emails and phone calls. He also has a great voice! I've already recommended Dave to several of my friends getting married next year.

PERFECT. We asked Dave & his crew to be our DJ for our wedding and he was absolutely awesome from the day we started corresponding. He is extremely timely with responses, incredibly understanding and helpful, and so nice!!! We literally had people on the dance floor from the moment the music started until they made us turn it off because it was so perfect. And it was exactly what we asked for - except more. He played everything we wanted but he also added in songs we didn't even think of which we loved! The whole crowd was having an amazing time and he read it so perfectly. And we had everything from motown to hip hop to coldplay to jazz to bach... Dave met with us twice at local restaurants (asked us what was most convenient) to talk about our relationship and what we liked most - he got to know us and we felt like he really was excited to be part of our wedding day. He is SO knowledgeable and so friendly... he answered all of our emails and questions quickly - and gave great answers and advice. He is not the 'typical' DJ... he really cares and will make your event so special!!! We can't say enough about how great he is. If you book him, you will be sure to love your event... guaranteed. Go with him - he's great.

What a lovely experience this was! Dave was my DJ, and he was who I was interacting with from the start. An extremely professional man with 30+ years of service. He was classy, trustworthy, and extremely skilled. We went over a "do not play" list, and some of the songs were requested at the wedding. He tactfully told the guests who requested the songs that I did not want them played there ("I like big butts", for example). He kept the hits coming, one after the other. When people went up to him and hummed a song they wanted to hear, he knew the song!! Every time!! He was tasteful, knowledgeable, and really just made my event.

He had speakers that were very slim, hidden, and discreet. The music was not too loud, but it did fill the room. No one had problems talking though. They were amazing! We had the cocktail hour in a separate room, and he had wireless speakers, and was able to personally produce a radio station so that the cocktail hour, the reception room, and the bridal suite (on the other side of the establishment!) all had music via these wireless speakers! The sound quality was fantastic. I highly recommend this company to any and all brides in New Jersey.

Dave did a phenomenal job! My husband was so concerned about having a DJ and if he would be "cheesy". Dave was nothing but professional and perfect. No cheese factor whatsoever. We did not want a flashy, loud DJ, which most in this area seem to be. A friend recommended Dave. He couldn't have been more perfect. He simply played the music and responded to what was around him. People were actually able to talk and when it was time to dance you knew it. He met with us before the wedding to get to know our styles and get a feel for the guests and style of the wedding. He also made some great recommendations. Not once did a song come on that we didn't like.

We LOVED Sound Choice! This was the very 1st vendor we booked - they were at my sister-in-laws wedding and we just knew we had to book them for ours and we were not let down. Steve was so laid back and was able to play every song that we requested and other guests wanted to have played at the wedding. He was so accommodating and we appreciate all his help with choosing songs and providing ideas for dances. Everyone danced all night until the lights came on and kept saying that was the best party they had been to. Thank you again!

Originally, my husband and I were oscillating between getting a DJ and doing an ipod reception. I am so, so glad that we decided to go with the former. John Weber was our DJ, and he was amazing from start to finish. We got countless compliments from our guests all night long, and John was such a joy to be around throughout the entire process. He kept the dance floor absolutely packed all night long (and our reception was quite long!), played all of the songs we requested, and, best of all, I could tell that he really loved being there and playing music. I cannot recommend him highly enough!

Sound Choice came highly recommended to me from my reception venue. I did not hesitate to book them and they certainly did not disappoint. We worked with John, he was quick to respond to our emails and understood what kind of party we wanted to have. I gave John a very short list of songs that needed to be played and he provided everything else. The dinner music was perfect…it was enjoyable and easy to listen to without being stuffy or boring. He mixed up the dancing music to give a good blend of current music and oldies. DJ Dave, as I called him, was perfect. He is so easy to work with. What is also fabulous is that he has the BEST equipment including wireless speakers and an endless supply of music. His knowledge of music and intuition of the event and crowd is amazing. I have worked in the wedding industry and I have also attended over 20 weddings and I have seen so many tacky awful djs who self promote, say inapprorpiate things and have tacky signage. DJ Dave plays great music, whatever you like, and is truly dedicated to making your night what you want it to be. I saw him at another event and looked into using him and I am so glad I did!!!

Dave did an amazing job with our wedding! He was very professional and extremely accommodating and easy to work with. We chose Sound Choice DJ, Inc. because of how CLASSY and PROFESSIONAL Dave presented at a bridal show. He met with us before the wedding and discussed the type of music and specific songs we wanted played. He went over the bridal party names to ensure that he would pronounce them perfectly when he announces the party into the reception. He was FUN and professional--he knows music very well.
At our wedding, 10-9-10, he played all the right music by blending our choice of songs very well and he PAYED CLOSE ATTENTION TO DETAILS. All our guests told us they ENJOYED themselves, and so did we.

We had a very good experience with Dave as our dj. He is extremely flexible, responsive, and professional. He incorporated all the music we requested into the wedding and did a great job of reading the crowd and keeping people on the dance floor. I got several compliments about the music from guests. He also is very subtle and did none of the tacky things I've often seen djs do at weddings (handouts, light shows, advertising). Additionally, our reception venue was supposed to set up a speaker system for our ceremony. Apparently they could not get it to work properly and Dave stepped right in and helped, providing his own equipment so we wouldn't have any issues with the ceremony. I would highly recommend him for weddings.

Dave was a great DJ. He really mixed things up the day of the wedding and appealed to all ages. He was able to send music to all of the rooms of our multi room mansion reception without wires everywhere and I didn't even notice his speakers. In the planning stages, he was able to ask us the right questions to draw out of us what we wanted during our reception. And he helped us choose awesome alternative ceremony music. Everything was perfect!!

Dave is the best! We had been to two other weddings he'd been at, so we knew going in we weren't going to be disappointed... but he exceeded our expectations! Dave met with us in advance to understand our preferences and style without judgment, and he made recommendations where we were unsure of a direction (he has many many recommendations for mother-son dance songs!). It's easy to tell from talking to him that this is a passion of his, and the depth of his music knowledge is impressive.
At the reception itself, Dave kept the more structured parts of the party moving along with great energy (dances, speeches), and then put down the microphone and let the music do the talking for the rest of the evening. I barely can remember all the songs he played, but the dance floor was full all night with guests young and old, which was our main goal! Definitely recommend.

We had Dave for our wedding, and he did a fantastic job that exceeded our expectations. He was able to use our suggested songs and develop a playlist that highlighted the kind of music we were looking for as well as play songs we enjoyed that we weren't expecting. We enjoyed meeting with him before the wedding and the day of the wedding, we didn't have to worry about anything related to the DJ. Our dance floor was full the entire night, even before dinner ended, so it was clear that everyone was having a fantastic time.

AWESOME!! Played everything we asked, and more! Knew exactly what we were looking for and we had a wide variety of music to be played! We had so many compliments about the music, I can't even tell you! Highly recommend!!!

Imagine the smartest person you know. Then imagine if that person channeled all of his/her brainpower into music. That person is Dave Hoeffel, owner of Sound Choice.

Dave was everything we wanted in a DJ. He was invisible when we wanted him to be - don't expect him to be out on the dance floor leading the Electric Slide - but also perfect whenever we wanted him to announce things like first dance, toasts, etc. (Dave has this perfect low baritone voice, like one you would hear narrating a movie preview.) He played everything we wanted him to play (and avoided everything we didn't want to hear!) and seamlessly transitioned among songs. The music was loud enough to get people out on the dance floor, but not so loud to prevent others from having conversations throughout the night. Dave uses exceptionally high-quality sound equipment to avoid that tinny sound you hear from older equipment.

In addition to providing sound for the reception, Dave wired sound for our ceremony as well. He showed up well in advance of his scheduled arrival time to make sure everything was in order. He also accommodated a special request for one ceremony reader whose performance involved some singing and moving around during his reading. Dave also seamlessly navigated some of the more difficult aspects of our venue. Our ceremony was on a lake, so the ceremony was all done wirelessly; and because our reception was both indoors and outdoors, Dave wired both areas for sound.

Dave was one of the pricier DJs we considered, but we were unbelievably thrilled with the quality of service we received. Dave was always immediately responsive by e-mail and a genuinely nice guy. (He even gave us free baseball tickets for no reason other than that he could not use them!) We couldn't recommend him more strongly.

Dave did a wonderful job! The music was great and the guests really enjoyed the selections that were chosen.

From the very first meeting with Dave, we knew he was going to be our DJ at our wedding. Dave honored all our requests for the songs we wanted played and the different time stamps we wanted songs to start and stop at. Communication was always open and Dave's response time to emails and phone calls was EXTRAORDINARY!!!
Dave and his assistant arrived at the venue right on time the day of the wedding and was set up and ready to go when everything was suppose to start. He assisted with making the night flow as smooth as possible and he had everyone up and dancing when the dance floor was open. A huge Thank You to Dave and Sound Choice for making our wedding musical every beat of the way!

Dave was wonderful to work with. We received non-stop compliments on wedding music. My dad referenced a song in his speech, and immediately after, Dave located the song and began playing it. It was perfect.

Our DJ was Dave with Sound Choice and he was great! I was a little concerned that most of our guest list wouldn't dance but from the very beginning Dave had nearly everyone up out of their chairs and on the dance floor. He's professional while still laid back.

There was a miscommunication (our fault) about the end time of our reception. It was actually 10:30 which the caterer and venue were aware of but Dave's contract said 10pm. Yes, we should have been more vigilant however when our venue coordinator checked with him that 10:30 was right he didn't correct her. So it ended a half early which no one was expecting. We also requested a specific last dance but he didn't play it so my husband and I missed the last dance because we didn't know that was it.

Other than those things, he played everything we asked for, even the less dancy pop rock songs we requested towards the end of the night. I would absolutely recommend him. And I'd also recommend reading you contracts carefully so that doesn't happen to you! :)

Thank you to Sound Choice and John Weber for keeping the dance floor full during our wedding in September! We contacted Sound Choice early in the planning process and both Dave Hoeffel and John Weber were very responsive to all emails and calls. John Weber was our DJ and our dance floor was full the entire night!! There was an issue with a couple announcements (the parent names were mixed up and he got our best man’s name wrong) but these were not big issues and everyone was up dancing which was the most important thing for us! Thank you John and Sound Choice for a fun wedding!

Dave was great to work with - my husband and I met with him twice before the big day, and in between meetings he was very responsive. Somehow, my husband and I forgot to select a song for the entrance of two members of our bridal party, but the day of, Dave calmly approached us with the problem and provided immediate solutions. We had a blast dancing the entire night, and are very happy that we chose Dave as our DJ!
