Fantastic Experience!

We had a fantastic experience working with Serge. From the very beginning, he was incredibly friendly and made the entire process feel comfortable and natural.
He has an incredible eye for detail. Whether it was adjusting a pose or finding the perfect angle, he never missed a beat. Each shot felt thoughtfully composed and beautifully executed.

On top of that, his professionalism was outstanding. He was punctual, communicative, and clearly passionate about his craft. We ended being really late (thanks DC traffic 😒), but he remained professional and friendly. The entire session was well-organized, and the turnaround time on the photos was impressively quick.

I highly recommend Sokolov Photography to anyone looking for a photographer who combines technical skill with a personal touch. The results speak for themselves!

We love you guys!

When my now-wife first sent me a link to Sokolov Photography's vendor page, I guess I wasn't sure what to expect - the photos looked amazing, but then again, so did pretty much every other wedding photo I've seen. It wasn't until our first call with Serge that I realized how important it is to have a photographer who ~gets your whole deal~. As a couple of weirdos more interested in skulls and blades than hearts and flowers, our goth wedding was about as nontraditional as it gets, so it was crucial that the photographer documenting the most important day of our lives was on the same page.

Well, we had absolutely nothing to worry about! We vibed with Serge pretty much immediately, and he completely understood what we were going for. Rather than do an engagement photoshoot we instead had him shoot the rehearsal dinner/Halloween party, and he absolutely killed it with dozens of amazing photos of everyone's costumes. On the day-of, Serge and his partner Aspen showed up ready to roll and despite being given little in the way of instructions, they already knew where to be and what to do. They did a fantastic job corralling our families for all the important shots (which was not easy, I had like 30 people on my side alone)

We got the first look photos in only a week, and even then we were already blown away - even the cover photo of the album captured me and my wife's vibe perfectly. The full photoset was nothing less than incredible and more than surpassed our expectations! Even though we were obviously the stars of the show, we really, really appreciated that they managed to get fantastic shots of pretty much every single one of the ~100 guests; we can't wait to include our favorites in the thank-you cards!

We truly could not have asked for better photographers - in addition to being total professionals, Serge and Aspen were also cool as hell and a delight to hang out with, and their enthusiasm really showed in the photos. You two are the absolute best, and we are eternally grateful for your hard work in capturing the most important day of our lives!

Rob & Cindy Engagement

When we decided to do this photo shoot, we wanted that artist to show the world our love story and capture every moment and detail in each photo from the begining until the end. We are so grateful that we met Serge and had the ability/talent to bring that out of us into reality.

Our story begins with me and my wife meeting at the gym in a cycle studio for the first time years ago. The gym is our most sacret place for both of us. So we agreed to discuss our ideas to Serge. His reaction became very possitive, motivating which gave us the confident that we needed.
My wife is also a coffee lover and he suggested to take some pictures in a fancy coffee shot. It was hilarious and different but absolutely loved it!!
We also both love nature and like to spend time outdoors. He took us to a magical place that is relaxing and unforgettable.

We had a specific time of the day to perform our photo shoot, unfortunately, we were running late and my wife was very worried if we would have enough time to fit all our plans. At the same time Serge had other appointments after our photo shoot. He called to check on us to see if everything was as planned. We then explained the situation. Took it so calm and professionally that he understood what we were going through. This helped build back our confidence and encouraged us to continue as we talk about. Planning for a huge photshoot does take alot of time and energy to make it perfect. He explained that everything will be amazing but it wasn't amazing, it was EXTREMELY WONDERFUL AND BEYONG OUR EXPECTATIONS.
We shared our ideas with him and later brought everything we mention to reality. It was all detailed to perfection and nothing was left out. He's skills were organized neatly that it was breathtaking.

The experience we had was so much fun, exciting, and perfect that we can't stop talking about it and thanking Sokolov Photgraphy for everything they did for us. That's why we want to share this incredible experience with everyone.

Once again, thank you Serge for the time and effort you put into our pictures. It means so much to us. And we love every single on of them.

The best! Fantastic engagement photos

Working with Serge for our engagement photos was such a great experience. He instantly made us feel comfortable and relaxed, and his sense of humor made the session feel natural instead of posed. Everyone loved Serge!

We contacted Serge to be our photographer for our wedding and we are very happy about his service. He came at our apartment to take pictures of us, then he suggested different places in Washington DC where to take nice pictures. He took a lot of pictures of us alone and with our guests at the ceremony and during the dinner. He also took pictures of couples and friends without us. Everybody were satisfied about his pictures. WOW - we could not be happier with our wedding (and engagement!) photos from Serge! He is so fun to work with, made us feel relaxed behind camera -- which is saying a lot for both of us -- and I can't stop looking through our wedding gallery. His style is bright and cheerful, which is exactly what we were looking for for our colorful spring wedding. Would 100% recommend and would use again! We got to the venue later than expected from some hair/makeup delays and he took so many great shots that you can't even tell. He made sure to get the standard portraits but also plenty of more fun and candid shots. We will cherish the day forever and it's amazing to have it captured so beautifully. Thank you Serge!

Great Time!

First and foremost I want to say I'm a pretty big dude and I'm not very graceful when I move. When Serge hyped me up during my engagement photoshoot I realized these hips don't lie and I worked the camera. My fiancé Stephanie and I had a really fun time working with Serge, and I need to give the man credit for waking up at 5AM and driving to DC to take our photos. (For the record waking up that early wasn't my idea) That takes dedication. He even let us include our dog Paul Anna. 10/10 I would absolutely recommend anyone looking for a photographer to use Sokolov Photography. Serge turned it into a really, really fun experience!

Best Photographer Ever!

Serge was the best photographer we could have asked for! We hired him based on his style; bold, artsy, fun, memorable. Not to mention his pricing was great value. He was a joy to work with since day one. We hired him to both our engagement photos and ultimately our wedding celebration. He has been very upbeAat and pleasurable to work with. We first hired him to do our engagement photoshoot in late 2019 and a planned wedding in May of 2020. The engagement photoshoot was amazing, excellent energy, very outgoing, involved our dog and our guests, went above and beyond, and the photos (so many of them) turned out amazing, exactly like his portfolio reflected and then some. Unfortunately due to COVID, our wedding was postponed 3 times over, from May 2020 to ultimately October 2021. Serge was highly accommodating and stick by us the entire time as if COVID never happened, never once did he say no through all of the unpredictability. The day of the wedding celebration was as perfect as one would hope - just a year and a half later than expected. Serge again went above and beyond, incredibly outgoing, having a blast, very involved. He even brought a second photographer per our request and was able to capture concurrent events happening in two places during the day. All of the guests raved about Serge and his assistant, they were well loved by everyone. They were not only there to work the special day, but they became part of the special day. 10/10 would recommend!!

Excellent service. Sergey was very flexible about the date and place for our engagement photoshoot which was very important for us. Fun, professional, affordable

We really enjoyed working with Serge Sokolov!

He met with us in person before we signed the contract to go over his offerings and help us understand what it might be like working with his company. We liked his portfolio and loved that all of the options came with full digital rights.

The day of the event he arrived on time and hit the ground running. He and his partner got along well with our guests and we enjoyed a number of the shots he pushed us on (I wasn't crazy about stuffing my face with cotton candy—but now I'm happy I did it).

We were really pleasantly surprised by his amazingly fast turnaround of our photos as well. It's not even a month and we have all of our photos back, ready to share with friends and fam.

I've already recommended Serge to others getting married in the near future.

Phenomenal

Serge was absolutely phenomenal! We had a small wedding at Bel Air, Maryland, and from the moment we met Serge, he made us feel so comfortable, even with all that wedding chaos around. I have a little understanding of how he did it, but while following us everywhere, he somehow managed to take stunning pictures of all the quests in the wedding. Before the reception, some of our plans went badly wrong, there was a delay in catering, but he made his best to make everyone smile and feel relaxed. He always went an extra mile to help us with technical and organizational issues, always listened to us and brought SO MANY superb ideas for pictures that I would think that this person's been working in the industry for at least a century. Fun and wonderful engagement photo session

I thought that it will take two weeks for Serge to release the album. But he was fast and sent me within first week. It was fun working with him and we enjoy the final results of it. Engagement photo session with Sokolov Photography

This is our second photo shoot with Sokolov Photography team - we worked with them when we had a birthday party for my friend in June, and in December 2018 we had an engagement photo shoot at National Mall in DC. We really wanted Serge to be our photographer for our upcoming wedding but unfortunately, he was already booked!

Both sessions with this guy were absolutely amazing. Super professional, easy going, Serge made all of us feel very comfortable. My fiance was trying to convince me that engagement photo shoot is not a good idea but after a photo session, he changed his mind completely. And when we received the pictures, he admitted that he was definitely wrong! Photos are simply magical, Serge managed to create an impressively huge set of lifetime memories for us.

Our concern was that the National Mall was very crowded on that day. But somehow Serge took all the pictures in some mystical way so among all the people around it feels like there is no one in the whole world except just two of us! Absolutely stunning. Thank you, Serge, we will cherish these photos forever!

Excellent choice

We worked with Serge last summer for the birthday photo shoot of my little brother, so right after the proposal, we booked him immediately for the wedding. And it was such a blast! Serge captured those tiny little moments of the day that we'd forget otherwise, and the pictures caught everyone's personality just perfect! He took remarkable candid photographs of us and our guests too, all while remaining unobtrusive, kind and really really fun - I would invite Serge for the wedding one more time only for his jokes and the way he made everyone laugh. Worth every penny and more!

I would say Serge (I always misspelled his name, hopefully finally I did it right) is a world-class photographer, at least when it comes to a wedding. My partner and I had a wedding in Aberdeen, MD at the end of February which is totally not the best time for such an event. But even though the weather was disgusting, our pictures turned out to be filled with light, joy, and fun!

My husband and I never liked being in front of a camera, but the way how Serge navigated us and gave us clear directions on what to do and how to pose was so easy and relaxing. He encouraged us to pose, to do some funny stuff but being yourself at the same time which was amazing! Serge also control the crowds during the group pictures, and obviously, every single person at the wedding enjoyed his work.

What I appreciate the most is how patient this guy was. My nephew is an extremely active 9-year old boy who was jumping and running around while Serge was taking pictures. Was it a problem for him? Not at all. He managed somehow to communicate with the boy and keep taking amazing photos at the same time.

Great job!

Hiring Sokolov Photography for our wedding was truly one of the best decision we made. We had a vibrant, old-style wedding at Joppatown waterfront, and now we have a brilliant reminiscence of this special day - thanks to Serge! He puts us at ease, helped us and our guests to pose and even though some of our family members are not big fans of photo shooting, no one felt shy or awkward. He did his job in a fascinating, sometimes even self-sacrificing manner as he made some shots from the angle that put him at risk of falling down from the pier. As a result: the pictures are stunning, EVERY single photo tells a story so all the time when I look at the album I remember exactly how I felt in the moment.

After we signed our marriage paperwork (elopement) Serge took photos of my wife and I. We greatly appreciated his flexibility on short notice, and were pleased with the final product. The photographic setting was a public place, and he did a good job of managing the lighting conditions, and findings tasteful backgrounds and poses. We had such a wonderful experience with Sokolov Photography! They did redo of our wedding photo session. We had such a terrible photographer on our wedding day and we had to do another photo session after the wedding. Sokolov Photography agreed to organize it for us in a short notices. I had a big Birthday Party and i wanted to have a professional photographer to keep the memories. I was referred to Sokolov Photography by a colleague and it was just a blast. We had a fantastic experience with Serge at our wedding on 11/06/2016! He was on time, and brimming with ideas! However, not only did he have great picture ideas, he'd actually listen to me if I said "Eh, maybe not that one." or wanted something cheesy for myself. He really made me feel like I was the one who mattered. The pictures came out beautifully!

His prices are super reasonable, and he was willing to work with us on our package. We had already had our engagement photos done with another photographer, so he added an extra hour to our package instead of doing and engagement photo session.

The pictures came back in 8 weeks even with the holidays falling smack in the middle of that time frame! I'm very happy with Serge, and would recommend him to friends and family alike!

Serge was truly awesome to work with. I never thought I would say this, but he actually made taking pictures enjoyable. Wow, its hard to even know how to put this in words! Serge was the most amazing photographer we could have ever asked for. We watched Serge take photos at a friend's wedding and knew he had to be our photographer once we saw the way he had fun interacting with everyone and the beautiful photos he took! He took both our engagement photos and our wedding photos, all the way from getting ready at 3 PM to post reception photos at 11 PM. I don't even know if he stopped to eat, he was non stop! He even brought an assistant to take photos of my husband and his groomsmen getting ready so that he could take photos of myself and my bridesmaids before the ceremony. He has such a creative eye, and can think on the spot of how to capture a beautiful photo! He is also so fun, and my bridal party really enjoyed taking pictures with him! OUTSTANDING! Serge is a phenomenal photographer. I got married 7/3/16 and he and his team were on point the entire time! They went above & beyond the call of duty, but what impressed me the most was when he STOPPED TRAFFIC to get the shot I had requested. The cars went around him which I found AWESOME! He's so good he held the camera backwards as he continued to walk forward so he wouldn't miss anything. He has never-ending energy WHICH IS A GREAT THING. He's such a joy to be around, our family & friends LOVED him. They're still talking about the funny camera man. Serge clearly LOVES what he does, and his team was fantastic. My advice to future brides, DON'T SCOFF AT PRICE if you want the best then pay for the best and Sokolov Photography is THE BEST. If you want to truly cherish and relive every moment of you wedding after this once in a lifetime event has passed, Sokolov Photography is worth EVERY dime. Serge has an innate ability to make his clients feel at ease in front of a camera. My now husband and I were never ones to pose comfortably in front of a camera but Serge's positive vibe and sense of humor really helped bring out our personalities in the pictures. He takes the time to get to know the personality of the couple and brings it out in photos. His method of photography is creative and he takes ANY environment and transforms it into a beautiful work of art through his skill and use of various techniques. On our wedding day, he and his assistant were prompt and snapped pictures literally every second. It was evident that he and his assistant took their jobs seriously and made our pictures a priority as if it were their family's wedding. During our reception, Serge and his assistant were moving about the room capturing candid moments of each of our guests and us. They were up on chairs, squatting, bending ( you name it) just to get the perfect photograph!! The turnaround time to receive our engagement photos as well as wedding photos was quick. Serge did a fantastic job for a complicated wedding! He was extremely thorough and did a lot of information gathering prior to the wedding (skype calls, since I wasn't local) as well as getting details of all of our family members! I was very impressed. I initially chose Sokolov because of the technical quality of his work. He is bar none the best photographer in this price range, and his quality exceeds almost any photographer in the DC area, no matter their asking price. If you want tons of beautiful, technically correct, and award winning quality shots, go with Serge! He shot all day for us and we had almost 1800 wonderful shots!

Serge photographed my wedding and reception in June of 2015, and I can honestly say his kind manner, personality and overall professionalism was fantastic. We asked him to join us for a two day event - a courthouse Friday wedding followed by a Saturday night reception, and he was amazing to work with. His photos were also amazing. I would work with Serge again for any event in the future!

Serge did a fabulous job with our wedding photography. He was great directing the photographs and really made everyone feel relaxed in front of the camera. The whole bridal party loved him and all of our friends and families personalities really showed through in the photographs! He went above and beyond our expectations and the pictures turned out stunning. Our venue required all vendors to be pre-approved. Serge handled all of the paperwork to get approved in a timely manner. He also worked with us to create a package that would stay within our budget.

We really loved working with Serge! We had a specific vision for our shoots and he was able to capture exactly what we wanted. Our photos are timeless and often catch ourselves thinking how fortunate we were to have a great photographer. We couldn't have asked for higher quality photos. As an added advantage, Serge is great to work with, very flexible and easy going. I highly recommend Sokolov Photography to anyone!

We were so lucky that Sokolov Photography / Serge was available on our wedding day! Our communication was speedy and clear from the beginning. Serge is very talented, he went the extra mile (or two!) for us, was very approachable and accommodating, friendly and fun to be around as a person, worked with us on our budget, captured very candid moments, yet also got all of the important moments documented. Overall, it was such a pleasure to interact with him and our pictures look great. Everyone felt comfortable with him which is what you want form a photographer. I would highly, highly recommend him!

Wow! Is all I can say about Serge and the Sokolov team. I couldn't be happier about choosing Serge to photograph our big day. From the very start, Serge was responsive and prompt with his communication. We chose a package that included an engagement photo shoot (which I highly recommend doing!). The engagement shoot allowed us to get used to being photographed and how Serge works. Our engagement photos were beautiful and I did not think he could top those, but he did with our wedding photos. The photos were absolutely stunning. Serge went above and beyond by scoping out the venue ahead of time and being early. He captured so many special moments that I had no idea had even happened at the wedding. Now looking back, those are moments and photos that I will treasure forever. I really appreciated his calm, fun, friendly and easy-going demeanor. Even our guests commented on his great personality and attitude. I highly recommend Sokolov!

Wow. Serge is so unbelievably talented. It has been a few months since our wedding, and we have gotten nothing but wonderful compliments about our pictures.

Serge was such a professional, but so friendly and calm, it really made the engagement session and the bridal portraits fun and relaxed (which was extra nice since my husband and I are both pretty shy).

Serge also did a great job during what turned out to be a little bit of an odd ceremony. My husband and I, who had planned everything ourselves, forgot to exchange rings. We ended up exchanging during the reception, and Serge totally rolled with the punches, and still ended up getting the PERFECT pictures of the exchange.

Also, some of our guests came to our ceremony from China. It was very important to us to get pictures with the extended family, and the family portraits he took during the cocktail hour were exceptional.

I really can't say enough good things. You will love and cherish your wedding pictures forever if you have Serge!!! :) His pictures really are just the best wedding pictures I have ever seen. We were so lucky to have him be part of our special day.

My husband and I cannot rave enough about Serge and his incredible team. We were the first of all of our friends to get married, and as such didn't know where to begin when searching for vendors. For us, the photographer was the most important vendor because the pictures are what we will have forever. We thoroughly researched photographers in the Norther Va area and Sokolov photography by far had the most to offer. The quality of Serge's pictures is unrivaled. He's a true artist! Additionally, it is uncanny how comfortable he made us feel! My husband in particular is not a fan of having his picture taken, and yet Serge and his team made it a fun experience for everyone. He's an absolute professional as well as a great friend. We are looking forward to staying in contact for a long time! Looking back on all of the wedding planning, there's no doubt that hiring Serge and his team was the best decision that we made! As all of our friends begin to get married we will definitely be recommending Sokolov Photography!

My husband and I had the best experience you can possibly have with Serge and his team!!! Not only did we love how wonderful they were but so many of our guests loved how personable, easy-going, friendly and kind they were and wanted their contact information for not only weddings but other future events like anniversaries, family photos, baby photos, etc. Serge's demeanor keeps you calm and comfortable no matter what is going on around you. He will go out of his way for you because he really is focused on pleasing you and giving you his best. We looked at several photographers in the DC, MD & VA area but Serge and his team were so reasonable and had such high quality work with such creative and unique ideas!!! Our engagement photos and wedding photos were everything we could hoped for and much more!!! If we need anymore photos in the future we will definitely give them a call. Outstanding service all around! This review is well overdue and if you are looking for a photographer you should absolutely go to the Sokolov team. Serge and Kate are both so sweet and take a lot of time perfecting not only the photos but their relationship with you. My husband and I used their services back in Maryland in 2013 for our engagement and wedding photos. Engagement sessions can always be awkward because most people aren't 100% confident taking pictures, Serge made sure to make us feel at ease before we even got to the picture site. The photo quality is amazing and Kate does a wonderful job editing. The day of the wedding the team was efficient and creative with photo taking and making sure to get everyone included. All in all, you need to try these guys out. I am constantly complimented on our gorgeous photos and we owe it all to the Sokolov team!

It's a few months after my wedding and so I have a lot more perspecitve now than I did during the planning process-- especially in regards to what is most important and what things one can go without. The images you have from that day are, by far, one of the most important investments you'll make during this whole crazy, expensive process.

I am so happy I went with Sokolov. Serge is AMAZING to work with, super nice and dedicated to his craft. He will go out of his way and give 110% every time he interacts with you.

The images from our wedding were stunning. He even went back, on request, to photoshop my mother's makeup in all the pictures because the makeup artists made her look like a ghost--- he did an amazing job and really saved the day!

On your wedding day, you're going to be so excited to see all of your friends and family, the last thing you're going to do is be away from them posing for pictures (or at least your husband will complain) but Serge will make it super painless, efficient and the results are amazing. He was so sweet on our wedding day and was able to painlessly capture all the important moments without getting in the way or taking us away from the party for too long.

He's a true professional. Even my guests commented on his professionalism, awesome personality and great attitude.

The other thing-- that's so surprising-- is that he is very affordable!! I was a little hesitant and thought about going with a more expensive photographer-- wrongfully thinking more expensive may correlate to better-- but after our engagement shoot, I was so pleasently surprised and stuck with Serge-- and am so glad I did. He also spent almost 3 hours with us on that hot day and kept a great attitude throughout, encouraging my then-fiance to keep smiling for the camera.

I can continue to rave about Serge and all his talent and hard work, but the proof is in the finished product. I highly recommend Sokolov Photography

Sokolov photography is AMAZING! We worked with Serge for our engagement shoot and for our wedding. Both times we had hundreds of gorgeous pictures! Serge was easy to work with, very accommodating to our schedules, and takes pride in his work. The pictures from our wedding were better than I ever imagined and I have received so many compliments on the quality of the pictures. We had a good mix of candid, formal, and artistic pictures from our wedding. The passion they have for photography is evident in looking at the pictures. I could not have asked for a better experience with a wedding photographer! The pictures were amazing! We purchased the top package and had two photographers with us for the entire day from prepping before the wedding, through the ceremony and reception . They captured every moment beautifully! We also received a DVD with all of the images so we have unlimited access to all of our wedding photos, which is a huge benefit. Also, both of our photographers were very professional and enjoyable to work with and We had so much fun throughout the process.

Sokolov Photgraphy was just amazing. We utilized them for both our engagement photos and on our wedding day. Serge was incredible right out of the gate - neither my husband nor I love having our picture taken, but he put us right at ease and helped us to feel comfortable during our engagement shoot and also on our wedding day.

Serge and Kate really went above and beyond to ensure our photos were top notch. Our ceremony took place in a black box theater (basically, an all black room) - Serge took the extra time to work with the lighting director at our venue to ensure he would be prepared and able to take amazing shots.

The quality of our photos is outstanding. Serge has quite an eye for taking creative and beautiful shots - as a result, we have truly unique and beautiful photos. We opted not to hire a videographer for our wedding and could not be happier with our decision - Serge was able to capture the story of the day completely with photos.

Overall, I can't imagine finding a photographer who offers as much value as Sokolov Photography. I recommend them to any couple!

We booked Serge Sokolov for an engagement session and he was great! Very outgoing and fun to work with, he kept us at ease in the 100 degree heat. Also, he worked more hours than we initially agreed upon and was very flexible as we had an issue with our originally picked location. We had to move to a different location that Serge suggested and it turned out great. You can tell Serge is a hard worker and loves his trade, as he was truly trying to please.
As a result, we got great images that our family and friends are still raving about.
We love them too!

Serge was great. The engagement photo session lasted way longer than he had anticipated but we still had a great time getting to know each other. The wedding was kind of hectic, hopefully we got all the formal shots we wanted. Picture quality is very nice.

Absolutely LOVE Sokolov Photography. Serge, Kate, and crew did a fantastic job and we are extremely pleased with them. Overall a wonderful experience and they are very patient, responsive, honest, creative, flexible, professional, and the list goes on. We first had an engagement photo shoot that was so fun! On our wedding day, they were with us from beginning to end and we enjoyed every minute of it. Our photos were properly edited and each one was perfect. Our album was beyond what we had expected!

Serge and Kate are an absolutely amazing team to work with. From the engagement session to familiarize us with working with a photographer, to the post production, to the actual big day- everything was completely professional, yet comfortable. Serge is great with putting you at ease, and has great ideas for pictures. Kate's production capabilities are phenomenal as well! We knew right away when meeting Serge that he would be perfect for the big day- after all, the pictures are what you'll be looking at for years to come! I cannot say enough good things about Serge, Kate, and the entire Sokolov team. They did both our engagement and wedding photos for a very reasonable price (especially compared to other photographers in the DC region). We met with them well in advance to determine our needs for our wedding day and they walked us through our options and the entire process. They were very responsive to all email inquiries and were so accommodating even when we had to reschedule our engagement shoot four times. Serge is also hilarious and can make anyone laugh and feel at ease, which is a huge plus. Everyone looks so happy/carefree in our photos. He was even a pro at handling our two young pit bull mixes and incorporated them into our engagement and wedding photos. He and Kate do amazing retouching as well. One of the major perks of this team is that they will give you a DVD of ALL your retouched photos (we literally received hundreds) that you are allowed to post/print/send anywhere. They also do album designing and printing. The layouts they put together for us were so creative and vibrant, a far cry from our parents' pastel albums from the 80s. They are a pro team that are so fun and personable that it's like working with old friends. I highly recommend them to all brides!

After going to Wedding show after Wedding Show and getting engagement photos with a well known photographer to lets just say was very mediocre we found Sokolov Photography and instantly knew on the spot that Serge and company was the perfect fit.

From the engagement shoot to the day of Sokolov Photography sets the tone for high class photography in the area. The quality and professionalism of Sokolov Photography is second to none. If you look at the photos that Sokolov Photography generates versus other photographers you can clearly see the difference. The photo quality is a cut above the rest. The photos are stunning and I can attest you will not be disappointed.

If Sokolov Photography is not the premier Photographer in the D.C. area yet its only a matter of time until the word gets out. His product,quality and reputation speaks for itself.

Serge and Kate are so wonderful! They did my engagement shoot together and the photos are so beautiful. They really captured the love and the connection between the two of us and took special attention to small details that we wanted to incorporate. Kate had a baby! Congratulations to you both!! So we had a different photographer on wedding day but Serge and his new sidekick are awesome! They were never in the way and took the same special care to photograph all the details. My husband and I could not have chosen better photographers to capture all of our amazing wedding moments! We both knew that planning a wedding would be a huge feat, so we were pleasantly surprised and delighted when we quickly leaned how effortless and fun of an experience it would be to get to work with Serge and Kate! We had Sokolov Photography shoot both our engagement and wedding photos, and were so very pleased with how beautiful all of the photos turned out.

I was honestly a little nervous about the engagement shoot, having a "shoot" is not the most natural thing for me. Again though, I was so pleased with how Serge and Kate handled everything. They were very professional and very personable, which made the whole experience comfortable, relaxed and fun!

I was recommended to Serge and Kate of Sokolov Photography by an old friend, and let me tell you, it was like hitting the jackpot!! Not only did this husband and wife team easily welcome personal touches and offer tons of picture ideas, but they also made the whole process feel relaxed and natural. We booked the duo to do our engagement and wedding, and let me say our pictures are breathe taking. And although we contracted both of them for both events, come the time of the wedding Kate and Serge welcomed a little bundle of joy, leaving Serge to come to the wedding and he also brought a back up photographer that he works closely with as Kate's stand-in (His name is T, and he was just as wonderful). We got all of our pictures we wanted and some we could have never dreamed of. Sokolov Photography goes above and beyond, really are a cut above the rest, and I highly recommend them to anyone. Sokolov will always be in our lives now to capture all of our milestones. Love isn't a big enough word!!!

Well as luck would have it Feb 23rd was a nasty dreary day. It was wet, damp, no blue skies, no sun shine, basically a disaster. Through it all I was clam—we just made sure we had enough umbrellas and it was on with the show.

Realizing the weather was out of my control the one saving grace that clamed my nerves was that I KNEW I had a fantastic Photographer. We had hired Sokolov Photography—and we knew Serge would take care of everything. In reviewing Sokolov Photography book of business I notice that they shot in a range of locations with varying weather conditions, which was important because planning a wedding outside it is always risky no matter the season. As soon as we arrived at our wedding location Serge was already there and was a man with a plan.

Serge was focused like a laser to be efficient while capturing the best pictures humanly possible. Serge took control preventing guest in our wedding party from complaining about the conditions and maintained control of everyone. Serge directed everyone into the exact positions that would create the best pictures—he had a vision that no one else but him could see—that is his amazing talent. Good pictures project emotions I distantly remember Serge keeping everyone up beat, laughing at times even politely reminding everyone how important these snap shots were to us. To boot the pictures were freaking fabulous!!

At the end of the day a lesser Photographer would have cracked and the quality of the pictures would have suffered. Serge was determined to do the best job possible and NOTHING was going to prevent that from happening Serge is great photograher and a excellent leader!

We chose Sokolov photography based on a recommendation from an acquaintance who used Serge and Kate for their wedding ceremony.
Sokolov photography has a variety of pricing/service options, which we really appreciated. We elected for a simple package of a four hour session with photo DVD. Serg met us at our wedding venue to discuss how the evening would progress and to scout out locations in the immediate neighborhood for family shots before the wedding.
One of the other reasons we chose Sokolov photography is because their package includes the services of two photographers at the wedding venue. We really appreciated this facet of their services, as it allowed us to have family photos taken right before the wedding while his assistant photographer was taking photos of friends gathering for the ceremony. On the day of the event, his usual associate was unavailable due to illness, but Serg managed to quickly locate a second photographer, so things went off without a hitch from our perspective.
After the wedding, we quickly received online proofs, and a few short weeks later we received a beautifully boxed DVD with all our photos. After seeing the disc, we decided that we wanted a traditional photo album. I offered to meet Serge in Silver Spring (half way between our house and his office) but he graciously insisted on coming all the way down to DC to meet with us. All around great service!
I'll also note that we are a same-sex couple, and I feel as if Serg offered us the same great service that he would offer any other couple!

Working with Serge was absolutely amazing. We actually didn't even get to meet face to face until the week of our wedding, but that's part of planning a long distance wedding. However, even if we had been in town I know for 100% that we would have picked Sokolov Photography. He made us so relaxed for our engagement shoot and it showed in our photos (and I've only seen two so far!!). We cannot wait to see our wedding photos, because of the few we've seen are any indication, I'm sure we will be blown away. We would recommend him to anyone who is getting married!

Wow, we loved Serge! Our photos are amazing. Serge was a pleasure to work with. Neither myself nor my husband are overly photogenic but in our wedding pictures we look great. Serge was super flexible scheduling our engagement shot since we live out of town. We were only in town for 4 days and the first scheduled day it snowed. We ended up shooting on a rainy, freezing day but you would never know by looking at our beautiful outside photos. And again at our wedding, it was raining but Serge captured beautiful, outside photos.
Not only were the photos amazing, but Sokolov Photography was the cheaper photographer we looked at. I would highly recommend using Sokolov Photography.

Words cannot express how happy I am that we were able to have Serge and Kate photograph our engagement and wedding. Their craftsmanship and quality of work is impeccable! I searched for a photographer for 6 months and none of them were as genuine and professional as Serge and Kate. When we received our engagement photos I knew right then that our wedding photos were going to be AMAZING. Serge and Kate were GREAT to work with! They are very professional, helpful, and accommodating. My wife and I are very very lucky (and glad) to have chosen Sokolov. Planning, and paying for, a wedding can be stressful but ALL of our dealings with Sokolov were pleasant!

I can't even begin to express how happy we are with the quality of work and professionalism demonstrated by this dynamic duo! Serge and Kate are extremely talented and great at what they do. Our engagement photos, which were posted on facebook and other social media networks have been complimented on many times. They understand the artistry of photography and are able to capture the very essence of the moment. They received many compliments from our guest as they were photographing our wedding--how often does that happen!! People were impressed with how well they set up certain shots and their professionalism in working with our guest to get certain shots. That said, their true gift is in capturing those soft tender moments that you didn't even realize were present until you see them in you proofs. I highly recommend this photographer. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I feel so lucky we found Serge and Kate Sokolov to photograph the most important day of our lives. They met with us before, during, and after our wedding day to ensure that everything was the way we envisioned. We had an amazing experience with Sokolov Photography. Serge and Kate were extremely easy to work with. We had a small wedding with a ton of post ceremony pictures. Serge was extremely patient and creative!!! Our album contains a mix of traditional posses and some artsy shots recommended by Serge. We love them all! Serge received several compliments from our guests during the wedding. We unveiled our wedding portfolio on Mother’s Day and the compliments for Serge continued. Additionally, there was absolutely no pressure to purchase upgrades or large packages.\r\n\r\nIn short, we highly recommend Sokolov Photography and hope to work with them again!\r\n

We wanted a professional photographer for our engagement party. I found Sokolov Photography's portfolio online and I instantly loved the photo styles so I booked it.

Our party wasn't that big and we weren't sure if hiring a photographer would be a great idea since we didn't want to spend that much on the party.
But I have to tell you that it was worth every penny of it.

I got a good vibe from Serge on the phone when I wanted to set the time and plan for the day. He was punctual and even more than that. Before our party starts, we decided to go to a lake and take some shots. He showed up in our appointment 30 minutes earlier so he can evaluate the area.

After we got there he started shooting photos. He was so professional and guided us to make good gestures. He was constantly taking photos of every steps we took.
He created a relaxed shooting experience for us before the party started.

After about an hour or so we went to the location of our party. Before we entered he'd taken lots of photos from our guests. A good thing about him was that he didn't interrupt us and our party to take good photos. He was all over the place taking pictures and at the same time he was invisible and that was my favorite thing about him.

We were supposed to get a DVD including all the photos. After about one month we received an email with a link to web page with a password that our photos where there and the day after that we got the DVD with a nice case which one of our best photos was on it in our mailbox.

Photos were nice and we were completely satisfied.

When we first booked Serge he was very accomodating and met us in Columbia MD to introduce himself and show us his portfolio. He told us that he and his wife, Kate, would be the photographers which was great because we thought we would have to settle for one photographer since we were on a budget. They met with us at our venue and shot our engagement session. We got a lot of great shots. They are just starting out, at least that is the impression I got, but they took nice shots. Our wedding was at Kent Manor Inn across the bay bridge and he had posted on facebook so many good pics by the time we got to the airport the next day for our honeymoon, it was so fun to see them and all the comments! Great pics, lots of compliments, very budget friendly.
The reason I did not give 5 stars on responsiveness was only due to the fact that I am anal and I like to receive email responses quickly. Most came quickly but there may have been one or two that I never heard back from.

great and meaningful photos!

Such an incredible experience! We had engagement session taken with Serge in August and I wanted to take a moment to give him a five-star review (even though he certainly deserves all ten stars!) The photography was very easy and relaxed, and Serge was very professional: even though we brought our dog to the photoshoot, he somehow made our little monster be a true photo model!. As a result, we have a bunch of very colorful and meaningful pictures! Thank you, Serge!

amazing work

We know Serge for three years and what we are certain about is that he is number one when it comes to capturing the great moments of your life. In 2016 he was shooting our corporate event, and we simply fell in love with the way how easy and funny he treated everyone in our company. In a year he was our photographer at the engagement session, and after that, we enjoyed his fascinating work at our wedding in Monticello lake. He is genuine, polite and very very funny, so he was the true gem of our wedding!

We couldn't have asked for better engagement and wedding photos! Serge was so laid back throughout the whole process, which was great because I had a billion questions and needed a plan for everything! We did our engagement shoot about 11 months before we got married and I knew from that day that we had picked the right guy. Serge made us feel not-awkward and comfortable right from the beginning and was able to capture both love and humor in our pictures, which is one of the reasons we chose him in the first place! He spent multiple hours with us and I didn't feel rushed at all. We got our engagement pics back within 2 weeks (over 300 of them!) and they were all amazing. For our wedding, Serge and Vlad outdid themselves. Serge did a great job controlling "formal" pictures while still capturing a lot of amazing candid moments. He kept things light and fun, even my younger brother was able to make it through 2 hours of photos! They stayed well beyond their contracted time at the wedding, making sure they had pictures of everyone. Seven weeks later, we got back almost 2000 images from our wedding!!! We know we will cherish those pictures forever.

Sokolov Photography is the best! We had such a great time with Serge during our engagement session and of course our wedding! The husband and I are both awkward photo-subjects, but Serge instantly made us feel comfortable the moment we met him for our engagement shoot. Within seconds we were laughing, and he really helped to capture great photos of us! Serge definitely has an eye for artistic pictures, and isn't afraid to tell you to adjust for poses (e.g., he would always mention if a hair was in my face or if I should move my foot over a certain way).

The day of our actual wedding, Serge and his second photographer stayed with us for 14+ hours! Not only was he very professional (and never once complained), but he was goofy and certainly knew how to pump up the bridal party. Our entire bridal party loved him. We got our pictures about 6 weeks after, and they turned out great!!

Overall, Serge knows how to make you feel comfortable when taking pictures, and makes it such a fun experience! We love his work and definitely recommend!

Wonderful experience with this expert photographer.

Serge was awesome! We hired him on (after a ton of research) to do our engagement and wedding photos. He was always high energy, creative, and very passionate about his work. During the shoots he would make jokes and keep the mood up, making us feel more comfortable and relaxed. It was clear he had a finely crafted sense of perspective as he was always searching for the best shots and was relentless in finding them. He worked with us for the entire wedding day (from morning til the next day) with an assistant photographer, all over DC and Alexandria to get the shots we wanted. Afterwards, we received our photos in 2.5 weeks and they turned out amazing! He's even providing a USB with all of our digital pictures for free, which many photographers are hesitant to do. We were very lucky to have found Serge and cannot recommend him enough!
