Best Lighting and Draping Ever

We worked with SociaLight for our tented wedding, and they completely exceeded our expectations. They handled all of the lighting, including a bespoke draping design and several stunning hanging disco balls. From the very beginning, they understood our vision and brought it to life seamlessly. The lighting and draping truly became the star of the show—transforming the tent into a beautiful, magical space that felt uniquely ours. We absolutely loved working with Social Light and highly recommend them for any wedding or special event!

Perfect way to elevate your Wedding Reception

Socialight was quietly one of the best vendors at our wedding! Following our church ceremony, we held our reception in the Wharf Room of Boston Harbor Hotel. BHH recommended that we use Socialight to give the venue that extra glow, and I am so glad we did! The lighting team knew the space well and executed all of our requests with very little direction from us. It was as if they intuited precisely what lighting each toast, dance and song called for throughout the evening, and their attention to detail is evident in all our pictures.

Our color scheme was soft purples and blues and they incorporated it beautifully, lighting the dance floor in a pale purple wash. They also had pin spot lighting on our floral arrangements and cake, which highlighted all the beautiful details and elevated the entire space. I appreciated when they adjusted the lighting for the toasts, so that the speakers were in flattering yellow light, rather than the purple glow we had on the dance floor.

All in all, Socialight was everything that we could have asked for in a lighting vendor - professional, unobtrusive, creative and attentive throughout the evening. Thank you to Paul and his team!

Paul was great from the very beginning. He has a show room set up as part of his office so you can see what your different options would look like. I am glad he had this showroom, because what I was envisioning for our New England Aquarium lighting was totally different from what we end up doing. And let me tell you, we loved the final result (draping with pendant lights and spot lights on the centerpieces). The options are endless and Paul is an amazing....artist. We would Paul and his team to anyone.

Paul & his team were fantastic communicators and spent the time we needed (including multiple visits) to make sure we had the best experience. The options with Socialight are endless, and Paul is there every step of the way to walk you through how he'll make your event the most unique. Our dance floor & aisle were illuminated by gorgeous lanterns which totally changed the look of the event space. Book them!

I knew fairly early on that I wanted to incorporate lighting into the vision I had for my wedding reception. The venue itself was a white tent which had a relatively busy ceiling (with wires/cables/bars), so I knew I wanted to do something to help ease that along with up lighting to help set both a romantic mood and a classy dance vibe once the timing was right. SociaLight made that vision happen. My husband and I met with Paul at his studio (a bit of a hike, but worth going to for a consultation) and decided on stringing ~30, 24inch white and amber lanterns in a symmetrical pattern across the ceiling of the tent. We also had up lighting incorporated throughout to completely wash the walls and ceiling with color. The plan was to also have 2 lighting technicians on-site during the reception to adjust the up lighting with whatever was going on during the wedding (i.e. an amber glow during speeches and father/daughter dance, then blues, purples, pinks, etc. during dancing time)—how cool is that? This was all definitely an expensive consideration, especially one that most people don’t think about for weddings. And truth be told, I can’t tell you how many skeptics I had… “doesn’t the tent already have lighting?”… “why do we need that?” But I stuck with the vision and was so happy that the lighting blew EVERYONE away that night. Our wedding was 11/8/14 and Boston Uplights did a fantastic job during both the ceremony and reception. Our favorite planning meetings were with Boston Uplights and the entire staff made it so much fun to prepare for our wedding.

The uplighting made every part of the venue pop in photos. The centerpieces looked incredible with the FUEL lights. The pictures taken by people with their own cameras and cell phones looked outstanding because of the lighting. The lighting helped set the mood from a wonderful sunset dinner to a fun night time party. The two technicians that worked the event were incredibly helpful and did a fantastic job.

We would highly recommend Boston Uplights to family and friends looking to give their wedding that extra touch which will last a lifetime in photographs!

Boston Uplights was great to work with and very professional. We met with Paul and he was very helpful and knowledgeable. Corey was the person who set up the lights on the day of the wedding and did an awesome job. The lighting really transformed the whole atmosphere of my venue into exactly what I envisioned it to be!

Boston Uplights was great to work with. They have the best pin lights in the business -- if you're going to pay for floral centerpieces, you should highlight each one with perfectly placed lighting to get the best bang for your buck! I wanted the dance floor to have some pop as well, and they arranged white and blue lanterns at varying heights over it. It looked absolutely magical, and made for amazing photos. Also, one of their staff members stays at the reception for the entire evening to make sure that the mood lighting is always perfect! The sun set during dinner, and they were there to make sure the lighting was appropriate the whole time (mood lighting is everything!).

I had seen my venue lit up with the lanterns from Boston Uplights before. When I went to them I thought the quote was sort of high, but since I knew what I wanted, we went for it. It was SO WORTH IT! The tent looked amazing. Everyone complimented us on how romantic the setting was.
They were also so easy to work with. I told them what I wanted, paid the deposits and then 9 months later they were there, set up, and two techs stayed the entire reception to make sure the lighting matched the mood. I never saw the techs, or noticed lights going up or down, but in a good way! Everything was seamless.

Our reception in the tent of Willowdale Estate would have been nothing without the incredible work of Boston Uplights. The tent looked beautiful and made for some amazing pictures. We also had our table numbers light up and when the party got started the lights changed with the beat of the music. I have guests from the ages of 10 to 90 calling to tell me how amazing the light work was. The tech remained unseen the whole night but also had an eye on making our big day even more bright!

We decide to add lighting last minute and I'm glad we did. They provided romantic hanging votives that were strung above our farm-style tables suspended in air. The effect was super lovely. The also provided uplights and texture colored lights for the dance floor. I had created a DIY tissue flower back drop behind the dance floor - and once Boston Uplights uplit these from below with colored lights the effect was stunning!! Excellent value, the people they sent to stay on site to monitor things were very professional. Great service all around - and the showroom is fun to visit! These guys can do anything!

The lanterns we got from Boston Uplights were absolutely perfect. They met with us before the wedding to help us choose colors and styles. On the day of the wedding, everything was set up beautifully and exactly how we had chosen and it looked better than we had even hoped!

We were on a budget and didn't think we could afford to hire a lighting company. But we were getting married in a tent with really high ceilings and felt compelled to look into hiring Boston Uplights because they have a unique system of hanging lanterns at our venue (the Aquarium!). Well, we had no idea of what we would be tempted by when we walked in the doors for our meeting with Paul. Their concepts and unique designs are spectacular! We ended up with lanterns, "down-lighting" (which was incredible!! All these little lights on the ceiling that shined down and changed colors all night!), and spot lights on our 5-foot tall arrangements. The result - PERFECTION. Exactly the atmosphere we were dreaming of!!! If you are considering them, don't question it, just do it. You won't regret it. This is the vendor that we almost didn't hire and one that we now realize we could not have done without! They will provide those final touches that go a LONG way towards creating the wedding of your dreams! Thanks Paul and Boston Uplights!!

I recently had my wedding on Sunday, May 27, 2012 at the Ipswich Country Club. I can't tell you how happy I am that I hired Boston Uplights. I didn't think much of lighting as something that was necessary for our wedding but my photographer (Michael J. Charles) showed me some photography with and without uplighting and I was blown away. It really adds a certain something to any room and especially to a wedding. I was so happy with a cool vibe it gave to the room especially when everyone started dancing. Thank you so much Boston Uplights! I totally recommend to any couples considering it for your upcoming wedding.

My new husband and I were married on 5/19/12 and had our reception at Groveland Fairways. It was our absolute dream wedding and we want to specifically mention Boston Uplights for creating the romantic & magical atmosphere. When we started looking at venues my fiancé and I had never heard of or even seen uplighting. We completely fell in love with our venue Groveland Fairways, and one of the elements that caught our eye about this venue was the beautiful uplighting they had in the photos on their website. The pinks, purples, and blue colors were just awesome, and the lighting sets the mood at the venue. So we contacted Boston Uplights and asked them to do the uplighting for us as they had done in the photos at Groveland Fairways website. During our meeting with Boston Uplights, we also learned about the many other lighting options they offer; downlighting, table lighting, centerpieces, hanging lights, and much more. We were totally impressed! This state-of-the-art lighting technology that they use is just so cool to see, and they provide a technician for the wedding who controls the lighting the entire night. We received the photos from our photographer and the uplighting in the photos is so beautiful! People are just bathed in color and it looks magical! We loved it!

I am an events/ wedding planner, I recently just organized my husbands Company's end of the year Gala. Everyone at Get In shape for Woman was so impressed with just how beautiful the room looked......what a difference from last year everyone said......you don't realize just what lighting can do for a room until you have it. We were absolutely thrilled with the lighting at my daughter's wedding. From our first appointment we loved Brett, who had such great ideas and carried them through to perfection. The lighting turned our reception venue from a beautiful, but somewhat old fashioned, place into the modern, amazing site that showed the couple's personality and kept the dancing going an hour later than planned. Using Boston Uplights was probably our single best decision about the whole wedding - other than my daughter's choice of the best husband ever!

I just wanted to send you a note to thank you for the spectacular job at my daughters wedding. When we met with you we were impressed but really had no idea of what to expect. All we new was we were looking for a finishing touch. When we walked into the hall it certainly had the WOW factor. It was like something you would see in a magazine, much more than Leslie and I could have ever expected. To this date more people have remarked about the event from the display, the changing colors and most of all the mood setting it made throughout the night.

We have been to a couple of weddings since our daughters. There are a lot of imitators out there but nothing compares to Boston Uplights. The last wedding we went to it was like a strob light event. No thought went into the event, lights did not change, even to the point of display and setup. Seeing is believing! It was the BEST money we spend. This was a last minute option and with only weeks notice you put the whole event together with ease. I would strongly recommend your company and if I hold another event for a special occasion your going to be the first person I call.

Your company is spectacular and deserves to be recognized. Words really cannot express how much we appreciate for going the extra mile and making our event something we will remember for a lifetime.

I could not be happier that we worked with Boston Uplights for our wedding! I can't imagine the event without the lighting. It really brought the atmosphere I was hoping for and I would absolutely recommend it to future brides/hosts. Paul was an expert and a real pleasure to work with. Regarding the value for the cost, I think uplights are absolutely worth the cost - if you want to enhance the look & atmosphere of your event and make it really something special. They created a warm glow for our indoor wedding ceremony and then a glamorous look for the indoor reception. Using Boston Uplights was one of the best decisions we made in planning our wedding.

Boston Uplights did an outstanding job for our wedding. We could not have been more happy with their work. For our wedding, we had the blank canvas of a white tent. Boston Uplights made the tent a magical place to be! The laterns were modren, trendy, and perfectly placed. The uplighting was amazing and changed colors making the tent such a special place to be and so spectacular. They are quick to respond and full of great ideas. On the day of, I never saw the lighting techs, they blended in and made adjustments without anyone knowing! I am so glad I had such quality professionals there to make our wedding day so special.

Uplighting was a last-minute decision for us, my husband literally called Boston Uplights about a week before our wedding! But it was definitely not a decision we regret. We got a ton of compliments on the lighting and how much they helped to transform our room from a more formal dinner into a fun, upbeat dance party.

"Amazing" doesn't cut it! We went to Paul early in our planning process, and he ended up giving us advice that transformed our wedding as a whole - not just the lighting. He "got" exactly what we were trying to accomplish with our non-traditional Halloween wedding. Paul went above and beyond all expectations - people are still raving about the lighting. With the wireless, remote technology, he can change the entire mood of the room in a second. He also took some unbelievable photos of our day (including one my father is now using as his desktop wallpaper of our father-daughter dance!). Paul is friendly, professional, understanding and flexible - definitely one of our favorite vendors. Uplighting is what takes your event from special to spectacular - and that's exactly what we got! Highly, HIGHLY recommended!

Three words... Perfect, Awesome, Beautiful. Everyone is saying how beautiful the room looked with the wonderful lighting and I've already suggested you for upcoming weddings. We were going back and forth about whether to do the lighting package or not. Let me tell you, I am extremely happy that we decided to do it. I mentioned before that it was my gift to my wife. She loved it and it made her so happy. Everything you did was on the money. Especially during our surprise first dance. The way the lights were worked was perfect. I just don't know how to write how satisfied we are with the job you did. I wish you and all the staff at Boston Uplights great success for many years to come. Again, thank you so much. We got married at Misselwood in the tent on June 20,2008 . Boston uplights did the extra lighting for our event. They made the tent seem to glow. It didn't even feel like it was a blank white tent at all. Alot of people commented on the lighting as well. If you want a wedding that stands out in peoples minds then you have to atleast check them out. P.S. I wanted to skip the lighting but my fiance,now my wife, insisted and now I am so happy that we did it. My name is Nick Pereira and we got married on june 20, 2008 and it was the best day of my life.

Boston Uplights provided the lighting for our wedding and we could not have been more thrilled with the results - it was absolute perfection. We explained what we were looking for and showed them a couple of photos, and they made our vision a reality. They even changed the lighting from the ceremony to the reception since we wanted two different looks. The ceremony had a perfect soft white glow that we'd asked for, and the reception really had a warm, intimate, yet party-ready atmosphere. Using Boston Uplights was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding!

Paul and his team did a corporate function for us at an old mill building in Lawrence. The event has a halloween theme and the lighting made the night. I received numerous comments on the decor and the lighting effects...It was simply spectacular. Having spent 16 years in event planning, it was a pleasure to find a vendor with great ideas and creativity and an execution team that backed up the owner perfectly. I would highly recommend Boston Uplights to make an event unique and memorable.

My husband and I highly recommend Boston Uplights. The lighting they designed for our wedding reception at The Gamble Mansion in Boston added a really unique element to our wedding. The lights they designed added a truly ethereal yet warm glow to the room and made the "look" of the reception even more special!

We had lights put under our centerpieces(there's actually a picture of my centerpieces on this site...the roses). Our venue did not allow us to use candles so this really helped create a romantic ambiance. They looked amazing! People could not stop talking about them. They changed colors throughout the night and everyone was trying to figure out how! He worked closely with my florist to get them just right and I could not have loved them more!

This was one of the last decisions we made, and I am SO HAPPY that we did. It totally transformed the room! They were easy to book, easy to deal with and I highly recommend that if youre even thinking about it - just do it, you will not be sorry. He even set up and monitored this clock that I bought online that projected onto the ceiling (for the New Years Countdown) So reasonably priced for what you get!!

We hired Boston Uplights for our 12/13/2008 wedding in Boston, and we cannot thank Paul enough on how elegant and lively he made the room feel. One month after the wedding, people are still commenting on how amazing the lighting in the room was, and how much excitment it brought to the night as the lights changed with the mood of the crowd. This is something I recommend ever couple have at their wedding; I was in awe of the room when my wife and I were introduced. I encourage everyone considering hiring Boston Uplights to visit his website and look at the venue images...with his vision, he can make a plain room come alive. Paul at Boston Uplights made our venue 100 times more beautiful than it already was. When my husband and I first met we used to go to night clubs every week in Boston and having his lights at our wedding made the venue feel like a totally different place. If you are having any kind of tented wedding the lights change color throughout the night and shoot color up the walls of the tent. I went to a wedding at my venue a few weeks before and the lights gave the venue a completely different feeling. Paul at Boston Uplights was wonderful to work with. He enjoys his work and is truly excited about what he does which made us want to hire him the first time we met him. The atmosphere was unbelievably gorgeous.

Paul and his team are absolutely amazing at what they do. We had SociaLight drape our tent at the Washburn Pavilion at the Museum of Science and add Chinese lanterns and up-lighting. The outcome was a dream come true. They came through on the design a thousand times over and it really brought the whole wedding together. Paul is very easy to work with and responds to your emails in a timely manner. Even a few days before the event, we found out that previous lighting couldn't be removed from the tent and Paul worked with us to come up with a great design that left us speechless.

Both my husband and I agree that our meeting with Paul was our favorite vendor meeting of the entire wedding process. If you're looking for lighting and design - look no further than SociaLight!

Very pleased with how the room came out! These guys really know what they are doing and literally just show up make the room amazing and you don't even realize they are there. We had uplights and lanterns and very pleased we took their recommendation to add lanterns to the room. Would use them again for future events! Even with VERY last minute changes they made it all happen!

Boston Uplights did an amazing job for our wedding. We were worried about the sometimes tacky ambience uplighting can create but from the beginning, they worked with us to create something within our budget that was really wonderful and added so much to the "feel" of the wedding. They have also done so many weddings at our venue, The Willowdale Estate, that they were really able to tell us exactly what we'd need an where and they were absolutely right! We highly recommend Boston Uplights to anyone considering lighting for their wedding or other event.

Boston Uplights helped to transform our venue into a magical beautiful place, the uplights have added that special touch to go from nice to WOW. Everybody who was against spending money on the uplights during the planning process had changed their mind the second the saw what the light did. The technician did everything himself with no questions, climbed on ladders to reach the ledge and do whatever it took to make the best of the place. Thank you very much!!!!

We hired very minimal lighting for our outdoor wedding at the Boston Public Library. We wanted it to be subtle, and Socialight made it so - the area lighting was subtle and the cocktail lights were tasteful as we’d discussed. The price was more than we had initially wanted to spend on lighting, but the quality was very high and the logistics were completely smooth, as Socialight worked entirely with our coordinator on the day-of.

Boston Uplights did the lighting for our recent wedding and absolutely set the tone for the night. The staff was easy to work with from start to finish, and the level of professionalism with which they work is a rare find in the world of wedding vendors. They are expensive relative to some providers, but worth the price not to have to worry whether they will execute, which they do with perfection.

If you are on the fence about lighting, and wondering if its really worth the extra money, I will tell you right now it is. I really wasn't sure we needed it, but my mother was adamant I have it and actually booked it about 3 weeks before the wedding. I AM SO GLAD SHE DID. When we initially met with Boston Uplights, we had a great meeting where were discussed the feel and look we were looking for. They suggested pinspot lighting and hanging lanterns for the tent we were hosting our wedding in. Like I said, I wasn't completely sold on the lighting, but once I saw the tent and the incredible way they highlighted all the details and flowers we had worked so hard on, I was thrilled we went with Boston Uplights. They had a guy there all night who adjusted the lighting throughout the event. They were incredible professional and I would suggest everyone get lighting.

We were not planning on having uplights at our wedding, but when we realized that we were going to have fewer guests than expected (and therefore more room in the budget!), I decided to add them about 3 weeks before the wedding. I am so happy we did and that we used Boston Uplights. Brett was very accommodating even though I was booking late in the game. He did not pressure us to commit right away and was very understanding. The lights made our room look spectacular. We received so many compliments from our guests. The room looked exactly as we had discussed during our consultation. I highly recommend Boston Uplights.

Uplighting adds something really special to your event. As an event planner, I knew I wanted to have it for my wedding on April 9, 2011. Boston Uplights is the best out there! All of their lights are wireless so you don't have to worry about seeing ugly electrical cords or tape everywhere. And they can create any color you want - not just bright neon colors. They also have wireless, flameless candles that look so real. All of this really adds a beautiful look to your reception room. It can be fun, wild or romantic. No better uplighting than Boston Uplights!

The lanterns in our tent and the uplighting in the ballroom was absolutely stunning. We were very happy with how everything turned out. If you have the extra $$ to spend lighting makes all the difference.

Paul at Boston Uplights is great! Very nice and easy to work with. They were able to change the whole look of the room to something spectacular. We were worried about the ceremony and the reception being in the same room, but when we walked into the reception room from the cocktail hour, all we heard were ooos and ahhs! Fantastic way to go for a completely awe inspiring look! The only thing we wished were different was the attire of the technician who wore a light blue, short sleeved polo. He didn't blend with the crowd as much as we hoped. However, this service was great!

Paul was great to work with. He was very open to any type and color lighting we wanted when we first got to the ballroom on our wedding day. Everyone commented on how gorgeous the room looked and how elegant the lighting made the room look. If you ever have any extra money in your wedding budget to spend--Id definetly get lighting!!!!

I am so pleased and happy with the Boston Uplight service. They were super professional and went above and beyond to make my wedding reception beautiful and unforgettable. I recommend this service to anyone who wants to add a special flare to their event. Boston Uplights were very compatiable to work with and very friendly. If you know you want uplighting but don't know what you're doing then this is the place to go! They had us come to their office and demonstrated some of their products. We were able to choose what was best for our venue and the lighting tech was awesome all night! He asked what we wanted for colors and he came through perfectly! Later in the night when the dancing was going on we told him he could change the colors as he wanted and have fun with it and everyone loved it! Uplighting made a huge difference for the atmosphere of the wedding and we couldn't have asked for a better company to help!

Boston Uplights provided the LED lanterns at our reception. They created the most amazing environment and ambiance for our wedding day. When the Band kicked up Boston Uplights attendants were there all night long to provide custom lighting changes to match the music. A real treat for our guests and we're so happy to have included their services!

Thanks so much for creating the perfect lighting at Christa and Rob's wedding in June in Plymouth. We could not have asked for a better atmosphere. From the lanterns in the tent that "lowered the ceiling", to the ever changing uplighting that mirrored the mood of the songs that the band was playing, to the realistic electric "candles" that made it look like starlight in the room, it was wonderful.

Boston Uplights provided uplighting at our wedding venue, the Peabody Essex Museum, and it transformed the room in an amazing way. We didn't have too much contact with our lighting technician prior to our wedding (we dealt more with the Paul and Lesa at their office) but the technician was professional and asked if we were happy with the uplighting during our reception. He stayed the entire night and made adjustments throughout the evening, depending on the timing/music/mood, etc. We loved how the lighting added a "cool factor" to our space and brought all of our colors and decor together in a tasteful way. The uplighting services were expensive but people's reactions when they walked into our reception hall was priceless. We're glad we went with Boston Uplights!

We loved having uplighting. Boston uplights was great to work with. Excellent about answering emails and offering suggestions. They made the room look amazing the day of our wedding. and we got so many comments on how awesome the lighting was. We had paper lanterns and a monogram design through Boston Uplights. The paper lanterns were amazing. They were everything we'd hoped for and more. They really transform a space into something magical. They were able to easily recreate the monogram we had come up with for our invitations. However, their attention to detail is why they did not get a full 5 star review. Unfortunately they put the wrong monogram onto the dance floor, and we ended up dancing our first dance on someone else's monogram. When we realized it was wrong they did get it switched to the right one, but it was just a bummer. I would certainly recommend them for paper lanterns alone.

I worked with Boston Uplights for my 10/4/08 wedding. They were very friendly and were always very responsive to my questions and emails. Their customer service is great and the lighting was a wonderful addition to my wedding. We held our reception in a tent and the lighting created the ambiance that we were looking for. It really "softened" the atmosphere in the tent. The lighting also looked great in our pictures and videography. I'm so happy we ended up using Boston Uplights!

Boston Uplights provided some pin lights and some paper laterns for our wedding this summer. During our initial consult, they did a great job of explaining what options we had to choose. They did a great job in recommending a package that fit our budget. I'm so happy we decided to augment our lighting; the pin lights in particular gave each table a special glow.

I used Boston Uplights for my New Years Eve wedding. I was going for a "winter wonderland" look. I first described the look I was going for with the owner of the company (Paul) during our first meeting in his office and he really hit the nail on the head. He changed the lights right there and then to give us that "cold" look we were going for with blueish/greenish colors. It was amazing. He had lots of great ideas and suggestions. We also ended up renting lit centerpiece uplights as well. It really made the reception. It looked AMAZING. I can't imagine not having them at the wedding. They completely transformed the room. I wouldn't have done it any other way. They even made the lights blink and change color while we were bringing in the new year. They can do awesome things with those lights, including draw attention away from areas you don't like and really draw attention to the things that you do.

Boston Uplights created an elegant atmosphere at our venue, and overall the dance floor lighting and general ambiance looked just the way I'd hoped. Unfortunately, I can't fully recommend them because some of the large Chinese lanterns over the dance floor didn't work all night due to a wireless signal issue. For the price we paid, I would've expected fully functional lighting. The owner called to offer a personal apology for the technical error, which I appreciate - it's just too bad there isn't anything else that can be done at this point.
