    Amazing quality

    Sir D's Catering was one of the best decisions we made when it came to wedding planning. The food was phenomenal including main courses and appetizers, and the service was fantastic. I would 100% recommend them to any couple who is looking for fantastic quality in food and service.

    Sir D's was hands down the best choice we made in the wedding planning process. We worked with Brittney and the communication was excellent! She worked around our schedules to plan meetings and tastings, and answered my countless emails promptly. Leading up to the day of, she put us at ease and had all of the answers to every single question we had! On the day of, we showed up, and everything was even better than we could have imagined. The food was INCREDIBLE and the guests won't stop talking about it! Everyone went up for seconds. We chose the Beef Bourguignon and Mediterranean Chicken as our main entrees from the long list of options they had. The bartender, Andy, was awesome and kept all of the guests happy, and made the two of us feel like celebrities when we would go to the bar, as he already knew what we wanted! The staff day of also juggled everything else while personally catering to us - bringing us appetizers and serving our meals to us even though we had chosen a buffet! At the end of the night, as guests trickled out and headed off to bars, the staff quickly cleaned up and helped my parents consolidate all of our centerpieces, wrapping up the wedding seamlessly.

    We could not have chosen a better caterer!

    Sir D's Catering was FANTASTIC when they catered my wedding in December. My husband and I live in Alabama but planned our wedding back in PA (where home is for both of us). Calla and Britteny made planning from 16 hours away easy. I was absolutely thrilled with their ideas, cooperation, timeliness and professionalism. My family ended up doing the tasting for us and had nothing but good things to say and everyone raved about the food at the wedding. Britteny was great even when I was making last minute changes the day before, I could not have asked for a better team to work with.

    Absolutely the best caterer! We were looking for something a little different for our outdoor wedding and chose Sir D's because they offered a clambake, which we love seafood! It was delicious! We also had passed hor d'oeuvres and two stations. Their potato latkas are awesome! The staff was always professional and super responsive, they even helped with items that were outside the catering. It was incredibly hot out the day we got married, but if Sir D's staff was bothered by the heat it never showed. Everyone was great to work with and the food was incredible, our guests just raved about the food. We're so glad we chose Sir D's and highly recommend them!

    Over all we had a very great experience with Sir D's! They were always very responsive, and flexible about meetings. The food was delicious! It was also a great value compared to other caterers we had looked into. I would definitely use them again for an event.

    We had a wonderful experience with Sir D's Catering. They were always responsive and very flexible. The food was delicious! I would definitely use them again!

    Nikki did an incredible job of setting up the room as well as the food and beverage. The event was to be outside and it rained so everything had to be inside..she did not panic and made it work...she worked well with the vendor..everyone is still talking about how nice it was.the food was incredible..we were extremely pleased

    We had Sir D's cater both our rehearsal dinner and wedding reception. They were absolutely wonderful to work with, very reasonably priced, and professional. The food was fantastic for both events! We had so many people tell us after the wedding that the food was delicious and by far the best "wedding food" they had ever had. We highly recommend Sir D's.

    I used Sir D's for my catering and they also did my centerpieces. They were very flexible with my request to do food stations. Everyone loved it and people are still making comments to me about how good everything was. I had pretty specific ideas for my centerpieces and Meghan made them even more beautiful than I had hoped for. Awesome value to have Sir D's handle food and centerpeices! Thanks Don, Carla, and Meghan!

    Sir D's is an amazing group of people to work with! They were willing to work with our wants and needs, were flexible with our menu and time schedule, and provided AMAZING food for both our rehearsal dinner and wedding! Our wedding happened after the flooding and they were MORE than kind and helpful throughout, they were looking into firehall kitchens or churches to rent in the case that they were shutdown due to the weather! On top of all this, their prices were much lower than other quotes we received! I would recommend Sir D's to everyone and anyone - they are A++++!

    Food was amazing and an incredible value! They were set up and ready to go before the set time. E-mail correspondence was always quick.

    Sir D's Catering did an AMAZING job! They were so easy to work with and always professional. They coordinated the linen rentals and worked with our venue to make sure the day went perfectly! Our guests raved about the food and the cocktail hour even weeks later. If you are looking for a quality outside caterer, please consider Sir D's, we are so glad we did!

    Sir D's Catering was a great vendor to work with. Don and his team did a fantastic job! They don't try to sell you something you don't want. Not pushy, and they really do work with you to make sure you and all your guests are satisfied. And, the food is GREAT!!!!!

From being patient with me as I changed my mind almost daily, to putting together the wedding of my dreams, to making sure everything ran smoothly, all while keeping a sense of humor.     Everything was very good. I never hired a caterer for an event like this (1st Wedding Anniversary party).
    I was pleased with everything. The event was held outside, picnic style, so the only thing I would ask is for
    them to include ice underneath the cole slaw and potato salad dishes. It wasn't a real hot day, but if it were,
    I would be concerned about spoilage. I am happy to give Sir D's 4.9 stars out of 5.

    Sir D's Catering provided amazing service, absolutely delicious food, and treated my now husband and I like we were royalty. The wedding world really takes people for their money, however Sir D's gives you high end quality service at a great value. We got so many compliments on the quality of the hors d'oeuvres to the buffet dinner, I couldn't t have been more happy! Besides the couple, the guests are going to remember the food and fun they had... Sir D's made our wedding an unforgettable experience for us and all our guests.

    “We Do BBQ package”

    We chose the “we do BBQ” package. The planning process was great and Katelyn was very responsive to my e-mails and helped me through every situation. On my wedding day, everything went as planned. The food was slightly above average - typical wedding food. Great value for the area as far as price per plate and great planning help by Katelyn at Sir D’s. I was told by guests that we ran out of appetizers very quickly so that would be my only complaint.

    Great communication for a family owned buissness

    Sir D's was one of our venues preferred caterers. We were having a big wedding (175) and wanted an affordable option, that was still a served meal with a classy vibe. We did a tasting with one other caterer, and chose Sir Ds because of their yummy food and their great coordinator, Brittney. We went with the chicken chessepeake (seasoned chicken breast and crab cake) and braised beef along wiht a vegetarian and kids meal. All of our guests raved about the entrees, however, I felt that the broccoli and potatoes were both underdone as sides.

    Brittney was great to work with! From coordinating our tasting to the day of the wedding, she took care of everything. The bartenders and catering staff were all wonderful and made sure we, as the bride and groom, were taken care of.

    Overall, I felt the food was pretty good, served very well and quickly, and loved the customer service at Sir Ds.

    Sir D's Catering is a very good and reliable crew for any bride to work with. You cannot beat the quality and prices that Sir D Cartering offers and as a bride, you can feel confident that Don and his staff will WOW your guests.

    The only reason why I did not give Sir D's Catering 5/5 is because of our experience with Rebecca, a coordinator who no longer works there. Alexia (Rebecca's replacement) and Don are both great and easy to work with!!

    I decided that I wanted a "his" and "her" buffet at my wedding. My wedding was the first time that Don had ever attempted this idea, but from the point of view of the bride, it was executed perfectly by his staff.

    Don went through every detail with me to ensure that him and I were on the same page and to make sure that there would not be any problems with our his and her buffet.

    It was important to me that on my Husband's side, the caterer use his families Italian recipes... I was so relieved whenever Don agreed to do so. In fact, at the tasting, my now husband was like, "there is no way he will be able to execute my fathers clam linguini properly so he better be prepared to take some criticism".... and my husband was like, oh my, this tastes exactly like my fathers!

    At and after the wedding, our guests were raving about the food especially the, egg plant rollatini, Mac & Cheese, and corn off the cob. This was all in part due to Don's amazing skills.

    I hired Sir D's for my daughters vintage barn wedding because ( unlike the others) the owner Don LISTENED to me.. he saw our vision for the day and did not disappoint!!
    The Sir D's crew ROCKED it!!! I did not have to worry about a thing the whole day .. they had it covered.
    The food was outstanding, service was top notch and the bar tenders were perfect for our crowd.
    We received many compliments on the food and the presentation was beautiful

    I mostly had a great experience working with Sir D's. They were very available on the phone (I was planning from a distance) and always got back to me right away. Their staff was professional and helpful on our wedding day and the food was good.

    They don't get 5 stars because they caused some stress the morning of my wedding. They did set-up the night before when originally they had said they would be there the morning of by 8am and I was counting on them to be there to let me into our venue since there was no onsite venue coordinator at our venue (Overlook Mansion in Harrisburg). It was a Sunday and Sir D's office was closed and I only had the office number, so there was no way to get hold of anyone and I waited outside for 40 minutes until I got hold of our venue contact who opened up for us. I think that was mainly a lack of communication due to our venue, but since they've worked with the venue before I was displeased with that.

    But overall, their service the day of the wedding was good and we were pleased with everyone we interacted with.

    Sir D's did an amazing job catering our wedding! The food was absolutely delicious and I received many compliments on it. Sir D's worked with us to plan the perfect menu for our guests. I worked with Rebecca Gerard, who was very flexible and accommodating as far as meeting with us and making sure we had everything we needed. She was quick to respond to my many emails and was very organized and helpful in making decisions about the logistics of the reception. Sir D's is well prepared for doing weddings as they have many years of experience. We did have a few day-of mishaps, as expected, but overall the day went perfectly.

    Good Buffet Dinner & Appetizers

    Overall, we had a good experience with Sir D’s. They did a sample tasting for us to help us choose what we wanted at our wedding. We appreciated having them come early to our venue to drop of the linens so we could start setting up tables. Our bartender was also great; he took good care of us, remembered our guests' drink orders, and was good about checking in with us when certain drinks were running low and when he left. They also provided us with guidance on what to buy for the bar. Even though we did a buffet dinner, they were nice enough to serve my husband and me, so we had a little extra time to eat. They were also good about working with special dietary needs and preparing separate meals as needed. However, we were a little disappointed that we didn't really have anyone to contact the morning of the event for last-minute questions. The manager in charge at the event didn't check in with us at any point during the event or before leaving (all of our other vendors did). We also didn’t realize that the leftover food couldn’t be placed in the fridge after being packaged (due to safety issues). That being said, we did reach out to Sir D’s and Brittney was really great about listening to our concerns, and we did enjoy the food, both the dinner and appetizers, and working with Sir D's.

    Sir D's catered the brunch at my parents' house the day after our wedding for our wedding party and families. The food was phenomenal and the fact that they come in and set everything up, and then come back to clean up and pick up was outstanding. Thanks for making our lives so much easier after a crazy weekend!

    Nikki and Alexia did a wonderful job coordinating every detail for our cocktail and reception and took every precaution to assure we were organized and on the same page. They even communicated with our vendor and wedding planner to assure they could accommodate our request.

    For our October 27, 2012 wedding, my husband and I choose Sir D's catering for our event. Planning our menu and event with Meg was very easy and enjoyable. She was easy to work with, and very quick to respond to emails and questions. They were also very flexible with planning the menu. Their food is amazing, and we have already reccomened them to other family members.

    There are only three criticisms we have with them. The first is that you must use their bartenders for your event. Every caterer is different as far as what they include and what services they require you to get through them, so this was something we could overlook because of all the other great things included in our package.

    We were also disappointed that they wouldn't let us keep any of the leftover food, but again, that is the same situation as above.

    Our most serious criticism is that the servers at our event were not good. They were rude to some of our guests and very disorganized. My husband had to excuse himself from the reception to talk with the head chef.

    Hi Karen,

    Thanks for your feedback. We addressed the issue with the server and she is no longer with the company. As for leftover food (and this is not directed to you I just want to clarify for others reading) we don't allow clients to take the hors d'oeuvres since they had been sitting out for a while without proper storage. We do however allow clients to take anything that was left on the buffet after dinner. Your meal was served thus the reason for no left overs.

    Overall good service, but some details were overlooked on our wedding day. (Tables missing table cloths, didn't bring glasses we wanted.)

    FYI - this client provided THEIR OWN linen so anything missing was at their fault. As for glassware, we provided what was contracted and paid for.

    Good First Impression - Average Outcome

    Upon booking Harvest View Barn as our venue, we were given a list of five caterers to choose from: Sir D’s was an impressive sell from the beginning. The pricing for the wedding package included a flexible combination of passed and stationary hors d’oeuvres during Cocktail Hour in addition to a served dinner and seemed fair. There was a variety of options to choose from on their menu and coordinating a taste-test, where we had additional questions answered, was smooth. We worked with Brittney on preliminary timing and estimated guest count to receive a quote for the services: in person, she was buttoned up on the policies, but there was some miscommunication about the alcohol and bartending services (Sir D’s led us to believe we could work with another company for distribution and service after denying our request of coordinating with their own bartending team – which had been suggested when we booked) that could have better been explained upfront. We signed a contract stating any changes in numbers within 5 days of the event would be forfeited, so they were unfortunately not able to refund us anything (or box the extra meals after requesting) for our 9 no-shows (family emergencies and hospitalizations that we found out about the day before). Lastly, the portion sizes for the actual meals were significantly smaller than we were led to believe – heavy on the side dishes. The food was great, but by the time we ate it, we were frustrated with the whole situation. Our bartender through Sir D’s did go above and beyond as our alcohol distributor did not bring everything that we had requested and paid for – we were serving Old Fashioneds and they did not provide cherries and bitters. He made a quick run to the grocery store to ensure everything was set, and we certainly appreciated his attention to the guests. Overall, Sir D’s gave a very good first impression, but as reality laid itself out, was a little frustrating to work with, leading to disappointment in the overall service level.

    We had met with staff from Sir D’s at least 3 times in person and exchanged numerous emails between meetings prior to our wedding date to discuss precise details. We had arranged for platters of hors d’oeuvres to be waiting for wedding party in a conference room while our other guests were finishing cocktail hour. When we arrived to the conference room there was a small platter of hors d'oeuvres. We had about 30 people there and that was not enough food, nor were there beverages available. The waitress/waiter staff were very nice and able to get a small platter at a time. We asked them if they could place them on the table for our party to help themselves as we only had a short time in that room. When my husband and I got to our sweetheart table for dinner we were missing water and napkins. Not what you would expect from a catered event, and not to mention it was the bride and grooms table. Again, the wait staff was pleasant and able to track those items down, but we were surprised that those items were missing from our table. Dinner went smoothly and same with dessert. Dinner food was your typical “wedding food”. We had a late night snack for our guests. All soft pretzels for the late night snack were cold, wet and soggy. We heard good feedback from our guests about the s'more station. My husband and I heard several comments from our guests that the staff cleaned up guest's chocolate name cards (party favors) and threw them in the garbage while there were guest’s belongings on the table. The chocolate bars were personalized so guests wanted to take them home. Many of our guests actually went through the garbage to dig them out.These issues were discussed with Sir D’s shortly after our wedding and their response was simply a detailed “Sorry.” There was no financial reimbursement. We were frustrated with such a non-helpful answer after we spent a large amount of money on a vendor that did not produce the experience we were promised and so greatly anticipated.

    Absolutely the worst ppl we have ever worked with! It took Brittany 3 weeks at one point to get to my daughter about questions we had! They don’t do alcohol so we hired an outside source and they told no we could do that! Never told us how much alcohol they got ( mind u WE PAID FIR THE ALCOHOL) and then ran out of two of the things they one being the grooms fav! Then took the alcohol from the groom/groomsmen private room to serve it! Told the photographer that she had to wAit till everyone was served before she could eat! Charged us $60 for the tasting which should be included in the big check we gave them and the food was satisfactory st most! There’s plenty more wrong I just don’t have time! Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy! They got our money so they didn’t care! Brittany was very unprofessional!

    We are sorry that you feel this way. We have contacted your daughter in response to everything you have just accused us for. There is no record of us taking 3 weeks to respond to any question, nor would we ever let a bride wait for a response, and it was made very clear from day one that our liquor liability states that we have to be in complete control of the bar. You signed the contract knowing that and months later tried to change it which is against our policies. We have no control on what type of alcohol people prefer at large events like this. We upgraded the Whiskey to the Grooms choice which was over twice as much as we charged you, and from there went off of our bar suggestion sheet that we send to every bride after the first initial meeting. There was plenty of alcohol at the end of your event. I am not sure you are knowledged correctly about the groomsman's personal beer because not once did we or would we touch it. It has been confirmed that the venue removed it from the location it was, because it would have been accessible to anyone, which again is against ours and the venues policies. Once accused on site saying that we were serving it, we went directly to the people in charge of the venue to have them remove it from where they had put it so that the issue could be resolved and we would no longer be accused of something false and to make sure your daughter was happy. Again, this was confirmed by the venue. We take pride in our services and work very hard to make everyone happy, and unfortunately things that were not in our control ended up in a bad review.

    October 2024 Wedding

    I used Sir D’s to cater my October 5th wedding and I would not recommend them to anyone else.
    I signed a contract that said there would be two certified bartenders, which was broken down to an hourly bartender fee for 8 hours x 2 bartenders. There was only one bartender at the wedding so I asked afterwards if I would receive a refund for the second one I paid for. I was told that they covered the bar with other staff members such as an extra bar-back yet there was never anyone else assisting the bartender behind the bar. Plus, these were not certified bartenders. The guests ended up having to wait longer and were unable to get drinks when the bartender left the bar. When I asked again for a refund because of this, my email was never answered.
    The caterers were late on wedding day and had to be called by the venue staff to see where they were.
    I am one of the four vegetarians that were at the wedding. I told Brittney, our coordinator at Sir D’s, a month before the wedding that I did not like mushrooms and I was looking for a meal that did not contain mushrooms. I asked a couple times over the month leading up to the wedding what the vegetarian dish would be and Brittney kept telling me she would let me know. The day before the wedding I texted her to ask what it would be and she told me that she did not like the answer she just got from the chef and she would get back to me. She got back to me a little while later and told me that the meal would be a meatless chicken. When I received my meal on my wedding day it was littered with pieces of mushrooms. I was very disappointed that the only item I said I did not want was a large part of the main dish.
    I was also told by guests that the food was cold and running empty for the last few tables. Brittney had promised me they would not run out of food as it would make them look bad yet I was told that this did in fact happen.
    The lack of transparency and communication made me very uncomfortable in addition to not receiving the services I paid for. I wish I had chosen a different caterer for our wedding.

    Hi Patricia, i am so sorry to hear that you were this unsatisfied with our services, but i am a little confused on your complaints. I have replied to all of your emails, and because you didn't like the answer i gave you, you decide to leave us an awful review.

    To be clear, yes, one of the bartenders was a no call no show, that is beyond our control, and so we pulled extra staff to the venue so that i could personally help behind the bar and had bar backs to ensure there was no line. I myself am RAMP certified, as well as the other bartender that was on site. So i am not sure where you are getting this information, but you had the service of 2 Certified bartenders the entire night, unless there was no one in line at the bar, then i continued to do other things to make the night go smooth.

    The coordinator had the wrong time of our arrival, they called and i answered immediately to inform her we were in route, we were not late by any means.

    You have paid for our casual "we do bbq" wedding, but wanted the atmosphere of paying for our formal package which is unrealistic. you did half BBQ food, and half formal food which i advised not to. We did our absolute best to accommodate your vision. We ran out of nothing that night, and had no complaints about the food being cold. You have said nothing about this in ALL of the emails you have written to me before writing this review. AND, most importantly our chef is very very careful with diet restrictive meals and there was absolutely no mushrooms in your meal. What you were eating was a form of vegetarian meat that you must have confused for a mushroom, because again, i assure you there was absolutely no mushrooms in that meal.

    Again, i am very sorry that you are upset with the out come of not receiving a very small refund for the bar service that you think you did not receive, but wish would have brought any or all of this other new information to my attention before writing an awful review of a small family owned catering business who works very hard to make sure we do our absolute best to make our clients day perfect. We take a lot of pride in what we do and put a lot of time and effort into our work.

    We wish you the very best, and am sorry you were unhappy with our services.

    I was so disappointed because I waited so long for this day. we met with Meg and was told not to worry shed be there to make sure everything ran smoothly. It was an outdoor wedding at a beautiful farm venue with an outdoor tent. We had a storm in the afternoon (ceremony wasnt til 6)and a few things were moved temp. Sir D himself showed up 11/2 hours late RUDELY came from the kitchen (angry due to cake which was on the countertop that needed to be removed from fridge 3 hours before serving and unable to be put outside) literally yelling at the bride who was in the middle of pictures to the point where the photographer told him to stop and replied how unprofessional he was. Due to this, our window of time of mother and daughter photoshoot was missed so i have no pictures of us alone. Also the bride and groom were to be served appetizers during their photos and was told a server would be there for them,they received nothing. There was a grandmother table set and decorated for 3 elderly grandmothers 1 who is in hospice care in wheelchairs. the caterers were instructed to remove for their use. Also they took all leftovers that we paid for, even fruit cheeses, breads everything. After the wedding my husband nicely emailed Sir D's and received a very arrogant email from the young lady we dealt with the entire time stating if we wanted her to be in attendance we would have had to pay extra ( which was NEVER discussed)and that they have so many clients our opinion wasn't valuable to them. In attendance at our wedding were other vendors (band members, 2 photographers videographers)4 other engaged couples, doctors, politicians, and business owners who witnessed such unprofesstionalism and were stunned. Sir D SHOULD HAVE NEVER gone to the bride! she was so shook up. He should've sought out her father who was his actual client! Also Odd hidden costs $1 per guest for trash removal,$1 per person to cut and serve cake. They should treat clients they way they would want treated
