We loved our wedding at Sinking Springs and would recommend it to other low-key couples looking for a gorgeous garden or barn venue. It may not be a good choice for a couple with rigid ideas about what they want. This is a small farm so you'll need to be flexible and do a lot of the set up/clean up yourself. It is an incredible value.

The farm and barn are simply gorgeous. Pictures hardly do them justice (it's definitely worth a visit). The barn has old farm machinery hanging on the walls, pixie lights wrapped around the exposed beams, a barrel to use as a cake table, and other nice touches. The farm provides endless settings for pictures (a lake, a cornfield, forests, flower beds, a gazebo, a swing).

Ann (the owner) did our flowers with minimal input from us and they generally turned out beautifully. The bridal bouquet was not quite as well done as the other flowers and required a little work, but it turned out fine and looked great in pictures. We would not have been able to afford a professional florist so having Ann do them was great for us.

The 3-star rating for "responsiveness" is because Ann does not use email, so everything must be done over the phone. But Ann is awesome at getting back to you if she misses your call, she is very flexible and can do just about anything you want. You have access to the venue all week so it's convenient for decorating and storage. The venue also has lots of decorations that you can use for free, including things like signs to put out on the road, baskets, flowers, even a ring-bearer's pillow. This kind of stuff comes in handy during last-minute planning.

A warning about summer weddings--it gets very hot and sticky in the barn. May be hard for older guests.

Overall we were very happy with Sinking Springs and would recommend it to anyone willing to put in a little extra time and effort. In addition to finding an affordable, lovely place to get married, you'll be supporting a local, family-run farm.

The venue is gorgeous in a chaotic sort of way. The old barn & house is great for photos as well as the gardens. The owner is funny but hard to pin down. She runs with ideas & is obsessed with putting filler flowers like boxwood in all the decorations including the bouquets & centerpieces. The venue did my flower but don't waste your time or money having her do them. She messed up mine & we had to be off property by 9 including clean up. Hire a wedding planner to avoid dealing with all the questions & to keep the owner in check is my suggestion.

Ann barely understood what I wanted even after having multiple pictures. She was the venue owner & claimed she did almost all of the previous weddings flowers. I wanted wildflowers which she was able to provide but it turns out she didn't create any of the flowers for the wedding she had my mother-in-law & best friend do all the work while she wandered around her gardens watering the plants in the rain. Needless to say I would not recommend her I would pay the extra to get a REAL florist to do the work.

    Ann is Terrible

This place has great sites, but Anne who runs the place made it the worst experience I've ever had at a venue... we were trying to enjoy our wedding and she was hounding my visitors and myself the whole time about clean up after. Something that should be included. If you plan on having anything with your children involved don't have it at sinking springs. Because Anne will watch them until they do something she doesn't like, and find you to bug you about it... disgrace.

Anne is a Troll who Ruined the Wedding

Busybody owner will ruin your event with her control freak ways. It wasn't easy to witness. Both sides of the family were angry with her. This is not to be tolerated. Wedding crasher. She helps herself to all, bringing her staff to do the same We ended up posting a kind guest at the buffet to guard it from them. But it didn't keep them from helping themselves to the cake. Anne was rude to the grandmother of the bride. Who does that and why? The handicap accessibility is just for bragging rights. It is preferred that you not have less than able-bodied family attending. They will be told about it during their visit. Bring your own chair if you are over 100 lbs. One of the adult guests had her chair collapse during dinner. She is a size 8 -not heavy at all. The rest of us larger guests were concerned we would experience the same fate and we remained standing the remainder of the evening. We were unable to have music for dancing except what we could produce off a hot spot on a phone. This was a dry wedding. We toasted with sparkling grape juice. And were shut down shortly afterward. Cheated out of the time we paid for. Cheated out of the beautiful memories. But frankly, we had had enough. So sad we made one fatal mistake in our planning. LOCATION. If you are itching for a fight. Go for it I highly recommend it. If not, find a reasonable venue. These are the memories that are to keep you warm in your old age. Not an ax to grind with a selfish property owner for robbing you on the most important day of your life. Choose wisely.
