Simply Elegant Rentals made our wedding vision come completely to life! We were going for Upscale Backyard BBQ vibes and that’s exactly what we got, complete with lawn games, benches for a fire pit, and beautiful vases for floating candles galore! They have it all and were extremely pleasant to work with throughout! -

It was a pleasure renting chairs from this company. They were very professional and easy to work with so would highly recommend. When my wedding was rescheduled, because of Hurricane Florence, they were kindly reassuring with my reschedule date and everything went smoothly. -

Christian Sent on 12/02/2014Kim was amazing. I made so many changes and swaps. She was never annoyed or complained and there were never any extra fees! She was really a dream to work with. They have the best prices in the business in the charleston area and delivered and picked up for me as well. Her rentals were quality as well. I got the white padded chairs, tables, linens, glass ware and a few decorative pieces from her. They have excellent customer service which I think goes a long way! -

Disclaimer: Services were never provided as our wedding was cancelled. This review is based on our experience working with Kimberly at Simply Elegant Rentals for over a year.
We decided to go with Simply Elegant for our rentals as their rental fees were much more affordable than other SC rental companies and they had some really neat rental items I hadn’t seen elsewhere. However, the website was very glitchy, photos and dimensions were missing on many of the items, and almost every time you clicked on an item to zoom in and see it up close, a new window would pop up with a picture of something completely different (I think it was a candelabra). Seeing that our wedding was a destination wedding and we don’t live in SC, it was very frustrating when trying to look at items more in depth. Some things that were advertised on the website were not even accessible to view since the page didn’t open or again, it navigated to a completely different page.
It would also take over a week (sometimes several weeks) for her to respond to our email inquiries and phone calls. Her reasoning was that all of our emails ended up in her spam folder and that she fixed it, but the same thing apparently happened again months later. When it came time to make the difficult decision to cancel our wedding a second time due to COVID and we asked about receiving our full deposit back, she withheld more money than necessary even though we held up our end of the contract and cancelled well within the 2 week window (we cancelled over 2 months in advance). When we saw her email that said we wouldn't be receiving our full deposit, we tried to contact her to discuss our refund via phone but the voicemail at the office was full. We called her for several days hoping someone would answer. She chose to ignore us and just sent us a check that was less than our full deposit. She also sent us an invoice to show that our order was closed, again with no discussion, and we noticed she had added new reservation and cancellation policies at the bottom of the invoice. We presume our inquiries and the legalities surrounding our situation were the catalyst for those new policy changes. We believe it was completely unfair and unprofessional to handle it the way she did. We would not recommend this vendor to other couples and suggest going with a different rental company even if they are more expensive just to save you the headache. -

Do not use!
Not all of the items ordered were delivered for our wedding and this place has terrible customer service!!! Also please be prepared for some made up charges to be added to your account at a later date. Whenever they delivered all of the chairs, tables, etc. (well at least most of them) I asked the guys dropping it off where they would want us to have it once they return to pick it up later that night and they said not to worry about it, just leave leave it out, and they would get it after. Then without even being contacted (no email or phone call) I see a charge on my credit card and have to call Simply Elegant to find out what happened and turns out what the delivery guys told me was incorrect and I had to pay a couple hundred bucks for that. Also, after trying to leave my first review I got an email stating that Simply Elegant disputed it (just goes to show you what kind of shady/terrible business this is - I wonder how many other bad reviews are removed) so this time I have attached my receipt to prove that we ordered from here and hope that you don't try and dispute this one too. Just save yourself some time and frustration and use another company because they're not worth it! -

Laura Sent on 06/30/2017The coffee pot we rented did not work so that ruined our "coffee bar" that my mother in law was excited about. She bought special cups, coffees, creamers, chalkboard, etc. And because it was all opened and set out we lost close to $100. Now Simply Elegant did refund the cost of the coffee pot, but when we asked about the other items they were rude and unprofessional.There's a way to handle things and then there is the "Simply Elegant" way. They were unapologetic when my husband finally had to call because they'd completely ignored my email. I surely question their integrity and customer service. I'd suggest going elsewhere with a company who is more professional and checks their items before renting them out.
EDIT IN RESPONSE TO SIMPLY ELEGANT'S RESPONSE: What they are saying is actually UNTRUE as when going up there my husband brought two receipts and much other information he was TOLD to bring up there for a REFUND (which was an hour and a half round trip). He was NOT REFUNDED, but given an extremely hard time. One of the receipts was a tablecloth rented from you for the very coffee we could not use due to your improperly working item. It's definitely not about the money for anyone reading this. It's about the principle and the lack of integrity and regard for people that this company exhibits. Not to mention their written, public communication is much different than their verbal communication. FINAL RESPONSE: I would like to put this issue behind me. This is obviously not a company who stands by their word and has no issue outwardly lying to the public and their customers. I would be ashamed of myself if I was the owner of this company for how I treated clients in general, but especially in regard to such an important event. I have nothing left to say other than I hope my review helps others in their decision of which rental company to use in Charleston. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HUGHES RENTAL in Mount Pleasant. They were a dream!
