Best chocolate cake ever

I cannot say enough about how wonderful the cake was not to mention stunningly beautiful. Our guests have not stopped talking about the cake, commenting particularly on the chocolate and the spice cake. The owner was so kind and easy to work with making the experience that much more enjoyable.

Amazing Delicious Wedding Cakes

We have nothing but great things to say about Simply Desserts. Everything about them was exceptional quality and pure professionalism. From start to finish Kathy was helpful and hands on. For wedding cakes, it starts with Kathy walking us through every detail to make us feel confident with choosing her. She details her experience, her credentials, technical details of the cakes, flavorings, designs, and her delivery process. She was able to design our cake exactly how we wanted, a vintage style with pearls, and it came out just as we envisioned. The hardest part of the process was just deciding on only two of the many flavor combinations she offers for our cake. And for the most important part, the cake tasted delicious. Incredibly moist cake, tasty and light buttercream icing. We personally recommend the strawberry cream cheese flavor, the fresh fruit spread used was so delicious. I will be recommending Simply Desserts to all of my other friends getting married soon. You can’t go wrong with Simply Desserts, you won’t be disappointed!

The absolute best

Kathy is the absolute best. From the moment I spoke to her to the minute my husband and I sampled the cakes, we knew we wanted her for our wedding. She is courteous, professional, and talented. She took the time to speak with me several times about the details for the cake, and she addressed all questions/concerns I may have had. The cake was not only gorgeous, but it was also so very delicious! She created a gluten-free option for those needing it. The process with her was seamless. We plan to use her for all future events!

Beautiful and Delicious

Working with Kathryn was simple and easy. We had an initial consultation to review what type of cake that I wanted. We had a zoom call, and then set up a time to do tastings. Kathryn had so many different flavor combinations and possibilities. We made our top choices and tasted them. Every single option was delicious! Wedding cake is always hit or miss but Kathryn's cakes were so tasty. The cake itself was moise and flavorful. The icing was light but not overly sweet. It tasted like a homemade cake. I had an idea of the design, and I sent over some inspiration pictures. It turned out great and exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to ordering another cake from her in the future!

Wonderful experience

We loved having Kathy cater desserts for our wedding. On top of making delicious cakes, she was clear, organized and communicative. She also gave us plenty of options to satisfy our guests, including gluten-free cupcakes and a Caribbean black cake that my Guyanese family raved about. Would absolutely recommend and go back to Simply Desserts for future events.

Best Cake Ever

We tried cakes, cupcakes, cheesecakes at probably 20 different places and Simply Desserts was the winner hands down. It really wasn’t hard because Kathy’s cakes were so moist and not overly sweet! It was the perfect balance and she worked with us on altering flavors! She is very knowledgeable about cake sizes and serving counts which is important. Will definitely be using Simply Desserts for all cake purposes!

Yesssss…Fabulous!

The entire process with Kathy was fabulous. Initial Contact, questions and virtual meets, tastings, and the final product. The wedding cake was wonderfully decorated. We gave her our idea and let her have some creative control.
It was delicious! My (now) husband and I received so many compliments. We had 2 individual flavors on a multi tiered cake. We are vegan and Kathy’s vegan flavors are simply to die for. I cannot recommend Kathy enough to anyone looking for a wedding cake. Call her and do a tasting!! I’m even happy to be a reference for anyone with questions. Cake was delivered on time and in perfect condition. Payment was super easy and affordable.I simply could not have asked for better! We will recommended her and will be using Kathy’s services again if we have the need for another cake.(My Wedding was 11.20.21 in Harford County, Md.)

Amazing Flavor, Great for Dietary Restrictions

Kathy was amazing to work with. She has a huge breadth of flavors that all taste wonderful, and nothing is overly sweet. She did a great job making a full dairy free wedding cake for us with the best vegan buttercream I've ever tasted. She will make a set of mini tasting cakes for you in any requested flavors for a small fee to help with decisions, and walk you through everything as far as sizing to your party goes and design details.

Delicious (and Dairy Free Options!)

Kathy did an awesome job making a small cutting cake and cupcakes for our wedding reception. The bride needed a dairy free cake, and it was amazingly delicious--maybe even better than the dairy-full ones in the groom's opinion (raspberry amaretto if you're curious). With various complications on our end, we had to do separate tastings for the regular and dairy free, and Kathy was very accommodating. She also custom decorated the cupcakes to fit a blue flower theme at a very reasonable price and we used them as part of our centerpieces for the tables. We were hoping that one or two might be left over to come home with us, but somehow our guests made sure they all very quickly disappeared at the end of the reception!

Simply the Best!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Kathy and loved our delicious cake! She took the time to get to know us and our tastes and really understand exactly what we were looking for. The cake was probably the one thing in wedding planning my husband and I didn't agree on since I love chocolate and he does not. Kathy made it so easy by offering so many cake options for us to try and surprisingly I liked a non-chocolate more than chocolate! My Dad arranged the flowers we had put on the cake and she was so kind in working with him for the flower delivery and adding them to the cake We couldn't say enough positive comments about Kathy and our cake and can't wait for our top tier on our first anniversary!

Great personalized experience!

We had a wonderful experience with Simply Desserts! After trying two other cake vendors who literally just dropped cake samples on a tray and left us there, Simply Desserts provided the personalized experience we wanted. We left our cake tasting, not only having tasted some delicious samples, but feeling like we made a new friend. As I (The bride) am not a fan of cake, we chose to go with a smaller top cake, Strawberry Lemonade, and then a bunch of uniquely flavored cupcakes. They were all a huge hit! My mother, at the last minute, also requested Gluten-Free Cupcakes. This request was met with no issues and I am told they were delicious!

Amazing and delicious

Hiring Simply Desserts as our baker for the wedding was the best and easiest decision! We met with Kathy in her home office where we had a tasting. She came to the meeting very prepared and she even brainstormed some decoration ideas for us, including drawings and photo inspiration! She was also able to work with my dietary restriction with ease (non-dairy). Everything was delicious and it was very hard to narrow down our decision on cake flavor! Our guests were so impressed with the cake and cupcakes! We got one 6-inch cutting cake (yellow cake with strawberry white chocolate cream cheese), and 30 cupcakes of each flavor: pumpkin with cinnamon buttercream, dulce de leche with vanilla buttercream, red velvet with white chocolate buttercream, and lemon cake with raspberry preserves. Kathy worked with our Harry Potter theme to tint the buttercream inside the cupcakes to match the Hogwarts house colors! Payment and delivery were flawless... she did everything exactly as we wanted and everything turned out amazing. Seriously, I do not know why anyone in the Baltimore area would go anywhere else for their cake needs. I can't wait to get another cake from her!!

O!M!G!!! Our wedding cakes were absolutely AMAZING! I am very picky about cake because I used to make them professionally myself, so understand the gravity of this statement: These were THE best cakes I have ever tasted in my LIFE!!

We had them do individual cakes for each table with lemon/blackberry curd for the guests and truffle cake for us. I'm telling you, these cakes crossed our eyes and dotted our Ts! Kathy was WONDERFUL to work with, and the cakes were just beautiful. (I'll post pictures when I get them.)

Trust us... you want these cakes in your life.

Kathy is THE BEST. Hands down. She's friendly, sweet, and so easy to work with. The cake was gorgeous. The layers were AMAZING. WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL, WONDERFUL!!!! Kathy's cupcakes were the BEST! Thank you for making our day special.

I recently got married and Kathy's professionalism through the whole process made ordering our cupcake(cake) probably the easiest thing we had to do through this entire experience. When you meet with Kathy it is just you and her, so all the attention is on you and your BIG day. We ordered 4 different flavored cupcakes. The Chocolate Caramel Rum, Chocolate Salted Caramel, Simply Lemon and Tres Leche. They were ALL DELICIOUS, especially with the Jamaican Buttercream..yum! We ordered 150 cupcakes and received our cake top for FREE, and with a different flavor then the cupcakes,(chocolate covered strawberry). The options are endless with Kathy's baking expertise. We will definitely order from her again, maybe for our 1 year anniversary? I am referring everyone I talk to about cakes to Kathy. I also work at a hotel, so anyone asking, she is the first to be mentioned. If you are looking for inventive, delicious sweets... Kathy is your girl. Our guests are still talking about how delicious the cupcakes were and how they were light and not too sweet.

My fiancé now husband and I attended several cakes tasting, but we were not completely pleased. When I contacted Kathy, she provided me with a list of cake flavors. We were impressed with the list, because She has a good selection. The day of our tasting, Kathy was very professional, and we felt comfortable, because she has a beautiful personality. When we tasted the cakes, they were moist & delicious, and the buttercream icing was perfect. Kathy helped us in choosing our wedding cake style and she did an AMAZING JOB!! Kathy bakes the best cakes, they are phenomenal! We thought we wanted fondant because of the smoothness and appearance. However, Kathy uses Italian buttercream which is not as sugary and the texture is so smooth it looks like fondant and tastes so much better! Kathy was so easy to work with, very sweet and kind, and her communication was top notch! Payment was very easy and she delivered our cake right on time to our outdoor tent. Our guests raved about our wedding cake. We choose Tiramisu and Chocolate Chocolate, delicious! I would very highly recommend Simply Desserts, you will not be disappointed and it will definitely be our “go to” for any future cakes we will need!

Kathy was simply simply amazing and she nailed our Travel themed wedding cake!!!! My husband and I did not see the finished product of the cake until we walked over to cut it and we were floored at how beautifully she nailed our vision. We went to Kathy with a Travel themed vision and asked if she could put a gold outline of the continents on our cake and she said she’s never done that before but she would try! Not only did she show us sketches of our vision during the process, but she also demonstrated which cake sizing would best display the continents. Our guest simply loved not only the look but the yummy soft taste the cake had to offer. The cake was georgeous and yummy!!! Kathy is awesome and a pleasure to work with. Pricey but the cakes are AMAZING!! All my Jamaican family members loved our wedding cake which was the traditional black cake with fondant and marzipan. Because we bought cake for over 75 people, a 7" cake or 5" black cake was included in our pricing which we used for our rehearsal dinner. We went with the 7" Amaretto Raspberry cake with her 'grown up' buttercream. Everyone loved it!! She is now my personal baker for any future events :)

We had a fantastic experience with this vendor! We'd had another tasting that same day at a formal cake shop in Annapolis who were very tasty and professional, but a bit expensive. We went to Simply Desserts, and were a bit concerned when we realized the business was in Kathy's basement... as well, she served us our tasting on a Styrofoam plate when we'd just come from a formal cake shop with real china. I will NEVER be so pretentious again! My husband and I took one bite of the tasting cake, looked at each other, and in unison said "This is better!!"

Kathy listened very well to everything I asked for on the cake, and her prices were very reasonable. She delivered a beautiful cake on time to our venue, and EVERYONE raved about how delicious it was! It was incredible! We'll probably order an anniversary cake from her, as well (she gave us freezing instructions, but I'm not a fan of the idea of year-old cake, haha).

Highly recommend to friends and family alike!

Kathy was great to work with. We enjoyed meeting with her and getting to sample some of her cake! We opted for cupcakes and a small cake for my now-husband and I to cut together on the day of our wedding. The guests must have enjoyed them, because we ordered WAY more than we thought necessary for the size of our wedding, and were left with only about 10-15 cupcakes at the end of the day! Very professional, flexible, and friendly service.

While I did not order my cake for a wedding, I will tell you that every bride will be delightfully happy at how delicious and beautiful her cake will be if she orders from Simply Desserts. I ordered a Graduation cake for my daughters high school graduation and it was a great decision! Kathy was so flexible about my wishes, she made suggestions to make the cake look beautiful and provided me with exact details so that I could decide easily. Kathy is a friendly, professional and wonderfully talented woman and she made us a cake that we all loved. It was extremely yummy!! My husband and I are SO proud of our wedding cake. It's honestly the best cake we've ever had, and we love cakes. This is real buttercream icing, not horrible american grainy frosting. And I've had "european buttercream" from some bakeries and they were stiff and flavorless, but this was spectacular and smooth and buttery. The cake and fillings were fabulous too, we got the raspberry tiramisu and the black russian combinations. Guests loved them both!!

Kathy was superb from the very first email. I was trying to work within a tight budget, but I had a specific idea of what I wanted. I emailed something like 30 vendors but Kathy's email response stood out, not only because it was in my price range (as quite a few were) but she responded with knowledge about the specific kind of icing and color and design I wanted. I thought I wanted something impossible because every vendor said no, but Kathy took what I wanted and helped me find a way to accomplish my creative goal without sacrificing quality of the product. Kathy knows her stuff!

I live in Los Angeles, but she was able to work with me long distance. When John & I were finally able to meet her in person she sketched out the design of the cake for us, which really helped cement in my mind what it would look like and how it would go with the other elements in the wedding.

After the wedding we decided to box up the leftovers and take them with us rather than freezing the top per tradition, however if you want to do that Kathy has instructions. Instead, we ate the rest in bed after the wedding. :)

And she was always quick to respond to my emails, which was a big deal because I have a hectic work schedule and tight deadlines so I planned most of it on my lunch break.

I first heard about Kathy last Christmas when I was planning a party and wanted to really impress. The decorative Coconut Christmas cake was divine and almost too beautiful to eat! After that experience, I decided to surprise my wife for her 50th Birthday with a "Statement Cake", and again, Kathy outdid herself. The first layer of three tiers was what I'd call "Knockout Chocolate" that and literally shut down the party. The second layer was lemon with a raspberry filling, and was so light and delicate, it felt like you were eating air. The top tier, which was absolutely my favorite, was Red Velvet. Another show-stopper. Honestly, unless she retires, I don't think I'd ever consider using another bakery, with the personal care and attention to detail I received from Kathy. Oh, by the way...SHE DELIVERS ALSO!

I hired Simply Desserts to do my wedding cake for my 8/15/15 wedding. My husband and I had done numerous cake testing, but this one was a clear winner. The cake samples, and the cake itself, was delicious. We had two main flavors in our cake, one was a chocolate cake with a cream cheese/white chocolate filling. That one was my favorite, it was simply divine. The other was a Tres Leche light sort of thing, not a proper Tres Leche but as close as you can get without it being problematic for a wedding cake. My husband adores Tres Leche and was super happy with it.

She was easy to work with in planning out the design of the cake, and determining the size of the cake vs cost. The price was reasonable, the cake was the size I had originally wanted but couldn't afford at other places, and it tasted ridiculously good. I got a cake that was much larger than I needed, and yet it was GONE by the end of the day.

Kathy was a pleasure to work with! We were celebrating a milestone birthday so the cake was the centerpiece of the event! We had a wonderful tasting and selected a very unique cake flavor. All of our guests enjoyed it! Thanks so much!!!

We decided to use Simply Desserts for our wedding cake after reading all the positive reviews online and meeting with Kathy at our initial tasting. Kathy made the entire process easy and enjoyable. At the initial tasting she was able to walk us through the many available options. She provided us with an estimate and drawing of the cake we envisioned, that were very similar to the final product. We received so many wonderful comments about our wedding cake and look forward to working with Simply Desserts again. Simply Desserts was a great find! My daughter's wedding was on April 4, 2015. Kathy, the owner/pastry chef, was wonderful to work with. Very professional and quick to return phone calls and emails. We had explored several options for my daughter's wedding cake. Most places could not produce my daughter's cake and tried to convince us to change the design, since it was what they called a "designer, photo shoot cake". Kathy never hesitated and was confident that she could replicate the picture that we found online. Well, she did!!! It was exact to the picture and it was beautiful. Kathy allowed us to choose three different flavors/fillings and she was cost effective for us by using auxiliary sheet cakes without compromising our design. In terms of taste, her cakes and fillings were delicious. We had a to die for lemon cake with lemon curd and blackberry filling, a yellow cake with 3 milk soaking syrup, and a yellow cake with chocolate ganache and strawberry buttercream. Every type was yummy and all the guests raved about the cake, which hardly ever happens. Most guests are like, "it's wedding cake". Kathy uses a rolled fondant that tastes like marshmallow. I have had a lot of fondant in my day, but this had the best taste ever. It truely was like eating a marshmallow. I could go on and on because it was that good. If you want a quality product that tastes good, go with Simply Desserts.

We loved our wedding cake! Kathy worked with us in-person and over email to create our cake and she totally nailed it! The cake was beautiful and tasty, with three different layers and flavors. We would highly recommend Simply Desserts!

I can't say enough positive things about Simply Desserts and Kathy's wonderfully delicious cakes! Simply Desserts came up leaps and bounds above the rest, and those cakes were also delicious. Kathy provides the attention to detail you want and listens to you to determine the best options for you. In addition to our wedding cake, we also purchased the groom's cake from her. Instead of us saving the top layer of our cake, she offered us to come back close to our 1 year anniversary to get a "fresh" top layer from her! Not only are these cakes delicious...they are beautifully decorated as well. We had 240 guests at our wedding and there was PLENTY of cake for all! My husband and wedding guests are still commenting about our wedding cake (lemon cake with strawberry preserves and buttercream icing). Can't wait for our 1 year anniversary to enjoy more from Simply Desserts! I absolutely recommend Simply Desserts for all of your dessert needs.

Kathy was lovely to deal with and the cake was both gorgeous and tasty! The sugar flowers were amazing--I couldn't believe how real they looked. All our guests raved about how delicious the cake was. Our biggest problem was choosing flavors--there were so many good ones! Kathy was helpful, responsive, and flexible throughout the process, even changing flavors at the last minute at the request of my daughter and her husband-to-be. A great cake from a great vendor!

Our cake was beautiful, delicious, and it was everything we wanted. Having an amazing wedding cake was very important to us, and Kathy of Simply Desserts made that dream come true. Kathy is great, and shines above other cake bakers. It is our promise that her ingredients and cake texture is superb! Her personality is amazing! In addition, she gave special care to meeting our needs. So many of our guests said, "Where did you find her?-The cake was great!" We truly believe that no other could have measured up to Kathy. Wow...this place is great. I wish I had my wedding cake right now to eat because it was amazing!!!! We had this amazing five tier cake and it was 4 different flavors and amazing. Everyone raved about it. I highly recommend them and they had the best price out of the places we visited. And they give you a free cake one your one year anniversary. Your can't find a better place to make your cake. They are responsive and we had no issues with them delivering on time. There was a minor mishap with our cake topper and it breaking, but she bought us a new one so we had a nonbroken one as our keepsake which I found very professional.

Kathy was amazing to work with. She listened to all my ideas and suggested things when I didn't have any. She was quick to respond to emails as I was planning my wedding from across the country, and made it very easy to do so. Set up on the day of way was perfect- I didn't even know she was there and the cake was everything I could have dreamed of. My guests even said it was the best tasting wedding cake they have ever had (and I agree!). I would recommend Kathy to anyone looking for a reasonably priced and an amazing wedding cake.

We went to multiple cake tastings and even put a deposit at another vendor. The previous vendor's cakes were okay, but really too sweet. My new mother-in-law thought we could do better. She found Kathy through a friend. Kathy is a delight to work with, and her cakes were by far the best we found. The tastes were full and distinguishable, and very elegant for the occasion. She help tease out a design at our first meeting, and included a nice drawing of the cake with the contract. The whole process was enjoyable.

We plan on getting a fresh cake next year for our anniversary.

We can't thank Kathy enough for such a wonderful wedding cake.

From start to finish, working with Kathy was an absolute pleasure!
The wedding cake was so beautiful it was almost impossible to cut it! The price was extremely reasonable and I couldn't have asked for a better cake. Simply Desserts by Kathy was definitely the right choice for baking my wedding cake, and I am so glad that I chose her! We actually met with several other companies for cake tastings and left each appointment disappointed with either the quality of the cakes that we tasted or the expensive price for what we would consider to be a relatively basic wedding cake (circle tiers, buttercream frosting, no decorations). When we met with Kathy, we knew that we wanted to book her as our cake baker. She conducts business out of her residence, so don't let that throw you off during the initial consultation! Kathy's cakes are absolutely delicious and really taste homemade unlike some other companies with whom we had cake tastings. She has a huge variety of cake flavor choices, too. We ended up choosing a four-tiered almond with chocolate ganache and raspberry preserves cake. Kathy was very flexible, too, allowing us to modify part of our contract (change the top tier to having a cake topper instead of fresh flowers and also to use our venue's cake stand instead of renting one from her) only a few weeks before the wedding. On the day of the wedding, we literally heard from the majority of guests about how awesome the cake was. When my husband and I saw it when we entered our reception, it was absolutely beautiful! It looked like it was made out of fondant, but was actually buttercream. Kathy also coordinated with our florist to apply fresh flowers to the layers of the cake and also around the base of the cake. The cake was absolutely delicious and I am so happy with our decision to choose Kathy as one of our vendors. Kathy included instructions for freezing the top tier of our cake for our anniversary, which I also thought was a nice touch. We would highly recommend Kathy to anyone!!! The price for the cake was incredibly reasonable, and it turned out absolutely beautiful!!

Simply Desserts is absolutely incredible. We knew upon the first meeting that Kathy was the one to make our wedding cake. We came up with a design together and she went above and beyond, perfectly matching our colors and creating the most beautiful palm trees and beading throughout. It was without a doubt the cake of our dreams. She's incredible responsive and works with you throughout the whole process, available for questions and anything you need. She made the most amazing groomscake for my husband as well and it was a hit. She is so very creative. Her costs are really fair and her quality is impeccable. The flavors options are endless and they are just the right amount of sweet, not too sweet but perfect. We went with a lemon strawberry filling for one layer, and a amaretto raspberry for another layer...fantastic combinations. I can't say enough about Kathy at Simply Desserts. Go to her!

Kathy is AWESOME!!! Her cakes and flavors are unique and sooooo sooooo tasty!!

We booked her about two weeks before our wedding and she was able to accommodate without blinking. It took forever to find just the right baker because we had so many problems with our other options. The biggest issue with just about every place we went (we went to five different vendors...) was that they either wanted tons of money for a small cake or tons of money for a cake that was mediocre in taste. While other vendors may have had great design sense all of them lacked heavily in the taste department.--Not Kathy at Simply Desserts!

Her flavors are simply fabulous and her designs are equally stunning. We already had the design of the cake and gave her some leeway into placement of certain elements on our cake. When we finally saw it at the reception we were FLOORED. It was beyond what we could imagine, very very neatly done, matched our decor PERFECTLY and was truly stunning with large handmade gumpaste flowers as a topper. We had a 4 tier, custom cake, each with different flavors! Our guests were RAVING and going back for seconds and thirds. lol.

Please, if you're looking for a cake vendor that has both style and taste (literally and figuratively!)--get in touch with Simply Desserts!

Kathy did a FANTASTIC job on our wedding cake. She has a HUGE collection of flavors and we devoured our wedding cake (so did many of our guests). She is extremely professional, going above and beyond what she is required to do. I appreciate the amount of effort she puts into her business-especially having the health department check her facility to ensure it is up to code. Simply Desserts was wonderful to work with and made an AMAZING cake. Her prices are very affordable in comparison to other companies and is willing to work within a budget. We got a chocolate layer and then a spice layer. Kathy was very helpful in helping to create design of cake. We only met in person once but that was all we needed. She took the time to help us with a design and did a beautiful job decorating. Kathy calls back to emails/ calls in a professional business time frame. Kathy from Simply Desserts was fabulous! My husband and I attended several cake tastings. However, she was the only vendor who took time to learn about us and our vision. While I had some ideas as to what design we wanted, she shared her creativity and helped to really shape the final design. She grabbed her pencil while we were talking and made a sketch on the spot. So, we left our initial consultation with a hand-drawn picture of the cake. Later on I wanted to make a few changes, and she was very accomodating to my requests. Let me just tell you that I was blown away when I entered the reception hall to see the cake for the first time. It was absolutely perfect. It was gorgeous and had a great taste. One thing you'll love about Kathy is that she doesn't encourage you to purchase more cake than you'll really need. Her prices are fantastic and she doesn't disappoint. We look forward to seeing her again next year when we return to pick up our anniversary cake.

Kathy was absolutely fabulous! She really took the time to get to know us. I came in with an exact design in mind and she did everything that she could to ensure the design was exactly what I wanted while working with us to save a little money. The cake was perfect. It was so beautiful and tasted delicious. I received so many compliments on both the look and the taste of the cake. I have definitely found a baker for all of my cake needs. Our wedding cake was amazing! We had been to four other bakers and tested cake samples before finding Kathy. As soon as we bit into the cake samples we both looked at each other and had huge grins on our faces - there was no comparison. We ended up going with half strawberry shortcake and half tiramisu - unconventional but absolutely mouthwatering. Kathy also had all the more traditional combinations. She offered by far the most extensive list of cake options (it was almost overwhelming) and let us select 3-4 to taste. They were all fantastic. She was also very flexible, extremely professional and efficient, and very well organized. As your cake provider is someone you'll likely never see the day of your wedding, you want to trust that they are competent to deliver the cake and decorate it appropriately (fresh flowers that we provided in our case) and make sure it is where it needs to be on time. Kathy did an amazing job on our wedding cake. She has an enormous variety of cake flavors and fillings. It was almost too much to choose from! The tasting we had with her was great. We had a tasting with a larger bakery and felt rushed and like we were not valued customers. Kathy gave us her undivided attention and made the tasting really fun. Obviously, the most important thing (in my opinion, at least) is the taste. Every sample we tried was DELICIOUS. Again, after doing a tasting at a more prominent bakery, I thought Kathy's cakes and frosting were MUCH tastier than everything else we tried. The cake was also decorated beautifully. We had a special request for Kathy to make gum paste versions of our rather non-traditional flowers and she did a great job. I also thought the price was completely reasonable. I honestly don't have a single complaint about our cake. Deciding to use Kathy as our baker was one of the easiest decisions we made while planning our wedding. I only wish I had eaten more cake on our wedding day! Thanks, Kathy!

Absolutely the most scrumptious wedding cake ever!!

We met Kathy based on a recommendation from of our wedding planner and we are SO glad that she did! After coming from a horrible consultation with the rude staff at Sugar Bakers in Catonsville, MD, Kathy's professional demeanor and upbeat personality instantly put us at ease. We brought pictures to the consultation of some cake design ideas and she was so receptive to our wishes. We were impressed that she didn't try to copy our photos but instead took the pictures we provided and our wedding inspiration (1930s Harlem Renaissance glamour) and totally reinterpreted it into a fabulous wedding cake. We were absolutely blown away when we entered the reception venue and saw our stunning wedding cake. Kathy truly exceeded everything that we could have hoped for!
And the best part - THE CAKE TASTED AMAZING! I have some serious bakers in my family and they, among our other guests, are still raving about how great the cake tasted!!

Kathy can rest assured that we will be using her services for many years to come. Since the wedding, I've bought a birthday cake for my husband and a cake for the Christmas holiday. If you want not only a beautiful cake but one that also tastes great, then I definitely recommend Simply Desserts.

Kathy was very nice and made the cake that we asked for. We went with her because she was able to make the cake we wanted (lyrics on edible sheets) and was less expensive. She delivered the cake on time and without issues. Highly recommend!

Kathy is an outstanding baker. She was able to take our ideas and design an absolutely beautiful cake. Although bakers are often focused soley on the look of a wedding cake, Kathy takes it a step further. She provided an excellent presentation and a delicious product. The cake tastes like a dessert that your grandmother would bake. Simply Desserts is simply wonderful!!!

Choice of vendor is everything in planning a wedding. We were fortunate to choose outstanding vendors. Although your cake is supposed to be beautiful, make sure people actually want to eat it. That is how we chose Kathy. The cake was so good we had it served as dessert at our reception (a good way to save a few pennies). We went to several cake tastings and hers was the best.

The cake for our wedding was absolutely incredible! The cake was moist and light, and the icing was perfect. I don't like icing that is too sweet and when I tried the cakes by Simply Desserts it was light and delicious! Our wedding was in October, and Kathy suggested that we do a Spice cake as one of the flavors -- INCREDIBLE! We alternated the tiers with Spice Cake and White Almond, and the guests of our wedding kept going back for more. I found Simply Desserts on a whim (because our reception site did not have an in house baker) and it was one of the best venders we worked with throughout our wedding year. Kathy is wonderful to work with, was interested in getting to know us as a couple, and was so responsive during the whole process. You will not be disappointed! We will definitely be using her in the future!

Simply Desserts bakes superbly delicious and beautiful cakes! Kathy Wallace Boschulte, Owner/Pastry Chef, is pleasant, easy to work with and an expert at what she does... wedding cakes and more. She does exactly what she says she is going to do... but you we were so surprised that it is so much more than we ever dreamed or expected. My daughter's wedding cake was exquisite, and guests raved about it's taste! We chose Carrot Cake and Chocolate Cake for alternating tiers, with Butter Cream frosting throughout. Alternating tiers were decorated with polka dots and lattice work and although it had the look of fondant, it was buttercream frosting and tasted heavenly! The wedding cake was the crowning effect to the meal and evening! Kathy followed up with a lovely thank you note to us! How professional, courteous and kind! Great prices! Wonderful, happy memories as the pictures show! Working with Simply Desserts has been a delight!

Kathy was great to work with and really brought the vision that we had for our cake it life. Also I appreciated that when we went for our tasting that she took the time out to learn about myself and me family which I think ultimately made our working relationship even better. Also for the tasting she doesn't give small pieces of cake she gives a nice slice so really get a GOOD taste of the cake. The Raspberry and lemon cake was a big hit at the wedding. We had people trying to sneak pieces away.lol. But seriously thanks Kathy for the great work you did and for working with the florist to make the cake more than beautiful......

Working with Kathy and picking our wedding cake was one of the easiest parts of planning our wedding. Kathy is so personable and a joy to work with. The design was flawless and the cake was the most delicious I have ever tasted. Our guests are still raving about "the melt in your mouth" cake. Most guests went back for 2nds or 3rds, some even for 4th helpings.

Kathy is soooo awesome and so are her cakes!! She is so personable and down to earth. The cake was sooooo delicious. It was one of the best cakes I have ever tasted. We went with a couple of flavors and each and every layer was DELICIOUS. The cake was sooo beautiful!! Everyone was oooohhhhing and ahhhhhing over the cake. We had a last minute change to the cake and Kathy came through with flying colors. She's so calm and collected and helps you find a direction for a cake even if you have no clue.

We are definitely going to get a cake from her for the holidays!! Love Love Simply desserts and I would recommend them to anyone!!

The wedding cake that Kathy created for us was, from a design perspective, just as we had envisioned and requested but it was what was on the inside that made us all melt! We ordered the chocolate cake with the caramel rum filling and it was out of this world!!! Thank you so much Kathy for everything, you exceeded our expectations!

Simply Desserts is wonderful! Our cake was delicious, and absolutely beautiful, we got many compliments on it. The flavors we chose were Mudslide (Bailey's & Kahlua filling on yellow cake) and Chocolate Nutella (chocolate hazelnut filling on chocolate cake).

We tried several popular bakers in the area before our tasting with Kathy, and after meeting with her it was no contest. Her cakes tasted the best, looked great, she was friendly and very professional, and her prices are amazing!

I took her several photos of cakes I liked, we reviewed her book of designs, and then combined elements from all of them. It was so exciting on the big day to see the final product, especially when it was PERFECT and exactly the vision I had in my head!

If we ever need a professionally done cake in the future, my first call will be to Simply Desserts!

Instead of a traditional wedding cake we actually had tiered cupcakes. Simply Desserts was the first and only place we had our taste testing...because her homemade cupcakes were DELICIOUS! She didn't make us stick to the exact flavors on her list...she let us mix and match and decide which worked best for us. The arrangement was so cute it was unreal! Kathy was 100% accessible, flexible and helpful.

Kathy is a such pleasure to work with and, in taste and appearance, her cakes are amazing. That is not an over exaggeration. Our wedding cake was the third cake we purchased from her because her cakes are that good. No wedding cake I’ve ever had tasted was as good as ours. Her cakes are fresh, from scratch, and simply beautiful. She does not doctor up box cakes and I have NEVER tasted a bad cake from her. She has so many flavors for you to choose from, even vegan and gluten free choices. She uses high quality ingredients to give you a unique and memorable experience.
For our wedding cake, we came to her with our ideas after being pleased with the first two cakes she made for us (birthday and engagement party). We do not like fondant but still wanted a smooth and cleaning looking cake. Kathy did not disappoint with the buttercream nor the decorations (ombre flower petals cascading down the 3 offset square tiers). Not only did she help us through the design so that we got the beautiful, unique cake we wanted, but she also was creative in coming up with a new flavor combination based upon our foodie taste buds. For all three cakes we ordered, we’ve had her red velvet which never disappoints. Her lemon cake from our engagement party was so fresh and moist. For our wedding we had the yellow cake with strawberry cream cheese filling (wow) and the Tres Leches cake with caramel buttercream and toasted pecan filling (best cake I’ve ever had in my entire life). This cake was moist, rich, and so good. We had some left after the wedding and we froze it to eat after our honeymoon because we couldn’t get enough. We can’t wait to eat our anniversary tier (the red velvet). Contact her early because she’s so good and you REALLY want to get your date on her calendar.

Let Them Eat Cake

We were in awe when we saw our cake, which was pleasing to the eye and taste. In fact, there was none left at the end of the night. We would highly recommend this vendor if you want a great cake at a reasonable cost.

Disney Wedding 2018

Our cake was delicious and beautiful. Our guests talked about it well after the wedding and absolutely loved the taste. My husband and I want to get a small cake just to have now because it was that good. Kathy did a great job and we recommend her to make your next cake.

Kathy was great and very helpful when we were determinging how our wedding cake would look. The flavors we could choose from were outstanding and very delicious. It was great and easy working with Kathy. When we met with her we knew right away we wanted her to provide our cake. We loved the flavors she offered and her icing was superb - it was different than any other bakers we had tried. We sent her a picture of the style of cake we wanted and it came out perfect. She decorated it exactly as we wanted.

Kathy was so wonderful to work with! She provided a hugeee list of cake flavors to choose from... and we couldnt narrow it down so even were able to try an extra during our sampling!! The cakes were all phenomenal extremely moist such great options. We ended up choosing three different flavors. My only regret was not eating more during my wedding! I think we each only had one bite from the cutting and then got caught up in the rest of the evening we didn't get to eat the rest of the cake!!! I would definitely recommend Kathy to any brides to be!

Kathy's cakes are simply to die for - they almost melt in your mouth. We chose to have three layers with different flavors in each because they were all so good, and switched around which layer was which last minute without any problem. The cake looked gorgeous and people couldn't believe the flowers were sugar rather than real - she spoke to our florist to choose the style as I didn't know which flowers we were likely to have. I found a patterned ribbon that went perfectly with our wedding colors and she matched the style of the white-on-white icing decorations to match its patterning. We saved the top layer of the cake to take away on our little honeymoon, most of which I spent eating the sugar flowers and licking my fingers clean. :-)

The best wedding cake ever!!! Simply Dessets uses fresh fruits and and the different flavors are awesome! My fiance and I tasted their samples at a Bridal Showecase in Baltimore, and we knew that we wanted them to do our wedding cake.

Finding a wedding cake for a reasonable price was a huge struggle for me. Simply Desserts was right on par for all the other bakers in the area. However, working with Kathy was such a pleasure and she was what made us decide to use Simply Desserts for our cake!

The cake itself was delicious, and because this is a local baker, it was made with real ingredients, (not artificial) which was very important to my fiance. She was very prompt in returning my emails and flexible as I had to move my wedding up 5 weeks.

The only thing I didn't like was that the cake was not the color we agreed on and I had to provide some of the extras for the cake to accommodate my price range. I probably should have been more specific about the blue color I was looking for, and none of my guests noticed the color wasn't correct, but just make sure to clarify your color choice with whoever your baker is.

I would definitely recommend Simply Desserts to my friends!

My husband and I loved working with Kathy for our cake on our wedding day! We were nervous about the wedding cake experience in general because I am vegan and my husband and all guests at our wedding are not and Kathy was willing to make a cake with both vegan and regular cake to please everyone involved! My husband and my sister were literally laughing out loud during the cake tasting because of how delicious her cakes were! She even made a new recipe for her vegan cake and icing and called me up to provide me with an extra sample to make sure it met my approval! We am truly thankful for the effort that Kathy put into our wedding cake and we cannot wait to eat our top tier on our anniversary :)
